Showing something to your own kids can be the horror. I'm known as a very patient man, but only building Lego with them can be quite challenging so you attempting to showing how to use Greenstuff is probably real taxing But it's coming together nicely as far as one can make out, excited for the completed build!
And you definitely are making sure that you don't get bored in the winter, that's a lot of newly built minis
That’s a nice batch of assembled and primed models to keep you busy for an hour or two . Looking forward to seeing that nurglfied fimir getting done, just don’t tell the kids the old history behind them .

Looking forward to your take on the Shadows of Brimstone stuff. I was in on the original Kickstarter and while the minis weren't the greatest, they were pretty neat.
New casts look to be rather better; fingers crossed...

I have wayyyyyyy too many figs (so say we all!) but at least priming keeps me on top of stuff. We've started the armature, now to wait on the milliput.

Stealing the womenfolk you mean?
Started the boy on more gs skills:
Helping him with his sculpting.
So, yes, armature:
The shape's there, he's pinned and bent accordingly (you can even see the pin coming out of the back, but it's going to be a bit side-heavy. Serious weighting will be required on the other edge. Back to the bits box!
Big block of resin brickwork (and a metal die for now) to help keep upright. The head will eventually be pinned into the body, obviously, but I'm pretty impressed with his first foray into sculpting detail. Proud dad
What else have I been up to? Well, got the results of a long, long rust test with some iron powder:
This has been exposed to the air for about a month after being soaked in vinegar and water. Turned out well I think.
And, a bit of work on Harley on a Harley
She's got a Just Eat (or should that be Just Beat?) pannier; I decided to paint the 3 bikers as delivery drivers. I've turned an old pop-socket (one of those things kids use to hold their phones) into a wee photo stand which is quite neat also. Next job will be to block in all the black on her (and, I suppose the other bikes, which are going to be much darker generally).
On we go,
Graven
Spawns sculpting looks very good to me, pretty sure my little one would like to do it too but he likes to smash everything made of playdoh so we may hold off on that. Harley on Harley I like it!

Oh, how I hate playdoh gets everywhere and never looks the way it should.

Who even are you In fact, I've just bought the necromancer Sabbat from the old mongoose Dredd figure line. Mongoose stuff is bonkers money to get usually (OOP) but I have found a military model store online which has loads of old stock on offer, so I've grabbed him so I can play 2000AD: The Walking Dead (fun nerd fact, the term The Walking Dead is a quote from the Judgement Day storyline, where Sabbat resurrects the Earth's dead and overruns the Mega-Cities). I've not used the store before, but if this comes good, well, I know where Santa's shopping
Sorry for lull in output; October's score is looking very poor right now . Work is very strange at the moment, with kids off here there and everywhere so lots of hobby time going on prepping extra stuff :/ it is what it is. Frustrating that I can't get paint on stuff, which is always the preference. Still, milliput due to arrive today, so work on the armature can progress. I've also primed up #2's horde of Sigmarites, I'm hoping to get him to production line drybrush armour, bases and cloth so he can see quick, effective results.
Wow, that's some seriously impressive sculpting effort from your kid, 'm not sure I could sculpt a skull or foot like that even now, and I wouldn't even know where to start with putting an armature together!
Briancj wrote: Have you considered...NOT buying new miniatures?
Oooor... buy a 3D printer so you don't have to buy minis, because you can just constantly make them!
Woah! That's amazing work. Proud dad indeed! The Mourngul might be a good project to learn anatomy on too, because the features are so exaggerated. But what do I know.
Also, late to mention it, but that display Wonder Woman last page is jaw dropping. She looks epic and heroic.

Very, very bad idea lol. I'd spend all my money on STLs I have a mate who is a CAD lecturer who has one, so at a push he's an available outlet As for the sculpting, well, he's going over existing parts for the bone structure to give the proportions (maulerfiend hands and from the box o' skulls) although he's been haranguing me all week about getting milliput. Sigh... at least he's keen.

Yeah I truly am. Though I think he was less of a fan when I made him sit with pictures of the anatomy of the arm Trying to apply some of what I learned from the great Kev White (Hasslefree) about building musculature out of green stuff.
Speaking of which...
And on it goes
My only niggle is how he's positioned the upper hand, I feel it should be Palm down, but he's happy.
They've been working on their little sister too
Slave labour lol. I suspect middle spawn likes army painting as little as his big brother I meanwhile have been working on Mutants!
Mutant team for Dreadball. Great kit, lots of variety, great for all sorts of games.
Lovely figs. I'd avoided building for ages but then realised I don't care about WYSIWYG. Rule of cool, y'all.
And also got my Martians done.
Ekekekekekekekek, and so on. Fun doing them in comic book colours.
Cranking out a couple of Dreadball teams: that's one way to up the monthly tally and maintain the average Graven
Sculpting is really coming together, he should be very proud after finishing his own model.
Dreadball teams look fun, especially the Martians with their little helmets.
Viterbi wrote:Sculpting is really coming together, he should be very proud after finishing his own model. Dreadball teams look fun, especially the Martians with their little helmets.
He's doing great. Just the ribcage/cloth to go.
The teams were indeed most entertaining to do, and quite therapeutic also. I'm so chuffed I found the Martians' helmets cos it really finished them off. I've got a couple spare for if I ever manage to get extras without (eg there's a standard bearer who'd be great addition to the coaching staff).
I also got 2 of the other 3 remaining teams built at the weekend, Koris (teleporting spider things) and Asterians (eldar). That just leaves the mix and match robots to do, and get them all primed before the weather really turns. Definitely going to need some more models after that lol.
Meanwhile, got distracted by all the amazing Bushido content from Gitsplitta, Theophony et al... so did some ninjas: A fairly quick job on 3 Talons from the Court of Owls from BMG. I don't play/collect Court any more, but (left to right) Cobb can be played with Bane (which is my main 3rd Ed faction), Strix with Birds of Prey (for BMG and DCU), and hey, who doesn't like to have a spare ninja lying about the place? There is actually a 4th figure in the set, a leader in a suit, but I have plans for him.
Slightly sidetracked there, but it's all about clearing the shelf of shame Later Graven
Finally got the work computer to allow me access to DakkaDakka . The sculpting is going great. looking forward to the Ninja. I need to get back to Bushido, but my fun time has been serverely cut down lately.

Thanks man, the boy has done good. Yeah, sorry to hear about the disappearing geek time Owls were fun, lots more odds and ends to do for all manner of games.
As an aside, that's me just over the 700 line. Not to tempt fate but getting 30 done in the rest of the year (i.e. doubling the 365 challenge for 2020) seems more and more feasible. Just in terms of numbers I have 47 primed figs on the shelf:
Dreadball Hobgoblin team (11)
Harley bikers, Display Bane, Display Superman, and other BMG (9)
AoS Nurgle (11)
Rogue Trader Starstriders Kill Team (10)
Dredd Mutants (5)
Funky Dude - 70s Skeleton with 'fro (1)
So that should do me
Looks like your sculptor is making good headway, I like the hand it’s supposed to be some strange beast anyway. Mutants, Aliens and the youngest painter working hard a very good update.

TBH now that the shoulderblades and collarbones are constructed it looks better, and your point is absolutely fair. I am loving my halloween monster mash
JoshInJapan wrote:Dreadball Martians? Those are supposed to be pretty rare. I'm a little jealous.
Yeah, I was very lucky to get them, especially with helmets. An Israeli guy on the Dreadball Fb group sent me them as a thank you for helping him with his linguistics thesis (which is what I originally did my degree and post-grad in, and he was citing part of my thesis). The generosity of the global gaming community never sees to astonish and delight me.
Viterbi wrote:Love the owl assassins, been some time since I read the comics, but they have a very cool look. Left sculpt is the best, very dynamic.
Court have been a bit mixed recently, still not 100% about the whole Nightwing / Gray Son thing. But I love the Cobb sculpt, I agree, though Strix's throwing daggers are rather nifty too. This is the second time I've painted these up and it's nice to return to them having parted ways with them previously. I'm quite positive about doing a similar "return" job with Amazons
The Mourngul is now built in its entirety:
I let the boy do the remainder with no input from me beyond a couple of suggestions of what he could modify and some pointers about changing yellow/blue ratios in gs. Particularly impressed with the building up of the ribcage, although his mother was really perplexed when she found him in his bedroom searching up anatomy diagrams (could be worse I guess ).
The trickiest bit of the paintjob will likely be the Sigmarine on the base, which he's going to tackle first - but again, that's also about raising his skill levels (plus if he makes a hash of it, Blood for the Blood God hides a lot of sins )
As I'm riding the Dreadball wave, decide to get my Mechanites built. You get lots of lovely bits:
I mean if I were being picky, I'd've liked more extras, as you effectively have to use all the bits. But again, I'm not that fussed about WYSIWIG. Rule of cool, and so on: they are a tremendously fun set of bits to make crazy robots with for any game. Here's my assembled bunch, the Iron Brutes!
Blue, Orange and silver for colour scheme is the plan (as in Irn-Bru, that notorious scottish beverage).
As I say, there may be Amazons this weekend, partly because I'm really enjoying Wonder Woman: Agent of Peace (the digital only WW comic); my reading matter this weekend included the last 8 issues of the main WW comic (and of course, the Swamp Thing Anniversary Hallowe'en Special). I am enjoying diving back into to DC, though I need to be careful not turn burn out. Mixed it up with some Transformers Galaxies last night (decent, not fantastic, but not bad), and I've got new Hellboy to look forward to. Plus, of course, there's Mando to watch and general Hallowe'en shenanigans about the house with Link, No-Face and Alice as we aren't allowed out guising (trick or treating, as you non-Scots would say). I think as far as painting goes it might be the Koris this weekend, as they're basically spiders Hey ho

I have quite a clear picture in my head for them and the Asterians (dark skin, midnight blue, electric green highlights). The Koris, less so. I want a sort of black with purple and orange accents look to them, slightly burtonesque.
Gitsplitta wrote:That sculpt is coming along really well!
Yeah, kid done good.
Because tis the season, I painted Sabbat the Necromagus and his love cloak of faces
I added a *lot* of to his base also
We played a big game of Hellboy also. Fittingly for Hallowe'en, we were against wolves, bats, harpies and witches.
We died horribly in the end when Nimuë the blood queen erupted into tentacles. Good times!
Meanwhile, the boy worked on the Mourngul.
As well as much carving, catching of Donuts, movies, sweets and other such nonsense, my girl and I painted my Asterians (eldar) for Dreadball. The idea was to come up with a colour scheme she liked and could block paint the main colour fairly indiscriminately. I give you... The Midnight Creepers!
Primed white, and we painted the royal purple plus pink drybrush together. Then I covered any brush slips on the skin with fresh white so we could do the skin together, and I then added the secondary colour and did the eyes. Asterians are one of the most cheating bastard teams in the game, so where I've got identical sculpts I've made the numbering similar (1 / 11, 6 /9 etc) and used a spare of the captain to make a fake version of her (X / 10). Incidentally, i started the space spiders, they were a total disaster, so I'm stripping and starting over #spoileralert. There is a secret project I've been working on for the boy's birthday. Can't say too much, as he occasionally lurks over my shoulder whilst dakkaing, but suffice to say that you lot are going to be happy. Might even edge me close to 800 painted stay tuned for 14th November... Graven
Resurrecting 3 billion people would probably still not allow you to walk around the streets wearing a cloak of faces . Unless one was John Wayne, then with the Duke in your favor you could do just about anything you wanted.

So, the elusive Amazon project continues. These are all rescue models, a broken job lot covered in paint that have been stripped, repaired, and recovered. L-R, Egeria, Phillipus, Acantha, and Euboeia. The spear was broken, so I cut it down to javelin size, and I'm going to mount a quiver of javelins on her back also. The sword wielder had snapped through the ankles, so was repinned. The queen mini got turned into a tribute to Florence Kasumba, who plays Senator Acantha in WW but also Ayo in Black Panther, so I gave her a spear arm and painted her in similar colours to the dora milaje. The Archer was simply strengthened through the base. I don't yet have good figures for other named Amazons, and for Menalippe (who really should just have a very large spear - like the one I used on Acantha ), I'm doing a massively over complex conversion using a spare metal horseback wonder woman (new head, arms repositioned, bow, green stuff hand, and gs fabric and sword pommel). Sigh. Oh, and I need to find a quiver (I thought I had one, but it turned out to be for Javelins - hence that late addition - but I must have one leftover from the Frostgrave bits somewhere). Once I've done all that, I'll get a proper group shot. Amazons, assemble!
On the subject of the MCU: Wee xmas gift for a mate that came from the same job lot. That's America's Ass. An old, old, KM Captain America. Turned out not bad.
Because I was having to do a bunch of stripping and repriming anyway, I took the time to attack the mold lines on my Koris. For late-era Mantic plastics, they are still absolutely atrocious. I've not bothered with mold lines on most of my Dreadball, but these were truly dire. On another Dreadball note, I've been invited to join the playtest team, which is really exciting as I'm a just bit obsessed with Dreadball. I've been working on an All-Star Showcase format (I'm allowed to say that "out loud", as it was entirely my idea and is being playtested publicly) and now it's for the releases for next year. Suppose I'd better get my robots finished Hey ho, Graven.
America's A$$…...I'd have a few other votes for who that could be.....especially today on elections day
Amazons look great.
Also big Kudos on the Playtesting of a game you love. I might actually have to get into Dreadball so I can brag that I know someone on the design team.
Spare. Metal. Horseback. Wonder Woman... And I suppose you sprinkle your bases with gold dust and wash your brushes in unicorn blood as well? (Nope, turns out I'm still not over the fact I missed the window to get that model before KM binned all their metal and never rereleased it... )
Jokes aside, the Amazons and Cap are looking superb. I remember Cap being a pretty awkward mini to paint new, let alone rescued. Super work getting the shield to look so neat and crisp!
Gitsplitta wrote:Absolutely love those reclaimed Amazons! Good man.
Thanks buddy! In the end, I'm rather pleased with them. At this rate I'll have a decent horde, whether to take on Parademons, Germans or any old mythic fantasy gaming. Here's Egeria with her full complement of javelins.
Egeria, she's gonna spear ya (as opposed to Euboeia, she's gonna bow ya). Got to remember which is which somehow
Yorkright wrote: Amazons are the bomb, but Cap has always been a fav of mine from the Marvel Universe you have done a bang up job on him. Very well done Graven!
It's funny, I am just not a massive Marvel fan - at least, not in the same way I'm a DC fan. I grew up with Spiderman and 90s X-Men cartoons, as so many of us did, but it was '89 Batman that shaped my nerd-world .:E Still, he's not for me, and frankly he looks a bit puzzled in amongst all the DC display figs.

Trying not to think about the state of your nation, frankly Coronacoaster notwithstanding, our plans to visit Disney next year are definitely off. Glad you like the Amazons, they're not too shabby. Thanks for the congrats, I am *super* stoked about the Dreadball news. Oh, now I feel guilty! Had I only known :( She was part of the job lot also, and tbh a bit a wreck - you're not really missing much (at least, that's what I'll keep telling you). Many thanks, old son.
The boy has finished his mighty Mourngul, at last; he's very proud of his efforts (as, of course, am I) and appreciates all your support.
He took a notion to use Blood for the Blood God on the rose, and is so taken with it he's now decided to repaint ALL the roses on ALL his nighthaunts with it he has truly entered the path of hobby madness.
It's freakin' huge - as you can see from the scale shot with a primaris his sister did.
On a whim, I painted this Funky Dude:
He's the backer promo from the last Street Wars KS (from Funky Skull games); a timely reminder to sort out my pledge for the current KS. I've picked up the Mollies (the all-girl, afrotastic gang), various civilians (2 hookers, a crazy old homeless bird lady, and a newspaper guy), and the not-Eric Draven (The Crow), plus I'll get the backer promos of Donnie (not-Trump) and Stanley (from a Clockwork Orange). Great little game, but more generally just plain useful generic figures.
I've also been working away at the Iron Brutes, as I try to get through the dreaded Dreadball backlog I do love their captain (it's basically Ripley in power-lifter suit) - she is actually my favourite mantic model. That'll just leave the Koris to do; my new primer has arrived - Kobra Shadow, which is very dark grey-brown, ideal for spiderlings (and occasionally nurgle) - but it's too cold just now, really, to prime safely. At that point, they'll all be done (and I'll only be missing... 3 dreadball figs from the range?!) shock horror.
The shelf currently has some DC (the Bane and Display stuff, plus of course now a mounted not-wonderwoman), a bunch of nurgle stuff and various naughty types for Dredd. Technically, there's the Rogue Traders from Rogue Trader, but they're getting given away as part of a xmas gift for erithromycin. But the shelf is on hold because of the SECRET PROJECT. I'll hopefully give you guys an early reveal before the week is out: I've had to do a lot of painting without anything on display and boxes hidden in the hot water tank's cupboard.
Theophony wrote:I approve of the Blood God roses , and the madness that will ensue from him switching hobby ideas half way through.
Euboeia = Eu-Bow or use bow.

Where did he get the rose from?
It's Playmobil, stolen off his little sister. She was NOT impressed Don't tell her that he's thieved one for every special character and unit leader's base On the subject of the painting I'm also really pleased with how well he's tackled the skull pile, there's lots of nice variation there. I know. I just may have to steal the idea His next project will be a bit more prosaic, he's getting a Knight of Shrouds for his birthday (and then the Craven King and Endless Spells for Xmas).
Foolishly, I rushed the priming of the horse archer, and there's been a bit of primer shock :( however, it's salvageable. The Koris are a bit more... crunchy but I don't mind them having a bit of texture mmmmmm, delicious, crunchy spider. I have realised, however, that I also have the hobgoblin team to paint plus the goblin and space-skaven captains, squat star player and prone space ninja turtle. Damnit!
Right then. Secret Stuff:
Spoiler:
I *may* have picked up a set of Imperial Assault... And some extras
Anyway, to finish up, here's the Mechanite team, the Iron Brutes:
I just freakin' love these models. They are so characterful and have such potential for any sci-fi game. They'll be running around MC1 as service droids (or for Robot Wars) for sure. And not-Ripley just needs a big alien to face off against, really.
Nice work on the robots. I have that team, but they come in so many parts that I've been hesitant to start on them. Good luck with the Koris-- I enjoyed painting mine just a little bit less than, say, extensive dental work.
Is the Imperial Assault stuff being kept secret from your wife?
They are great figs. I agree that it's utterly bewildering trying to build them though. I sat with the second ed rulebook open in front of me to do it!
Nah, she knows. No nerd.secrets from the boss
So here we are again.
First up, the Z'Ha'Dum Shadows, my Koris team:
All in all, they turned out ok.
However I've been working more on Imperial Assault stuff (if you missed the first batch, it's in the spoiler block above)
Royal Guard Champion. He's going to be a nuisance, I can tell.
Another gunner. God, I forgot how tedious this white was to do lol.
Some farm boy.
And Jyn Odan (as opposed to Jyn Erso), last of the starter heroes. I'm trying very hard to work on my human faces, with mixed results.
And so, we had our first couple of games
It's a nice hybrid of board and mini, but leaning much more towards the latter... However, it's very much a narrative campaign game, where you take your heroes on their quest to rise up against the empire. I'm playing Imperials, which allows me to discreetly modify the difficulty, whilst the boys play as a team of Rebel Scum. It's a huge campaign, and if that's not enough, we have 2 more campaigns that the kids know about (and 2 they don't!) - and then there's skirmish mode too. The boards are relatively small, also : the game felt pretty self contained on our kitchen table.
What's next? Well, the elastopod team are very distracting, I'm thinking of a Slurms McKenzie (from Futurama) colour scheme for them. I still have MASSIVE amounts of Star Wars to paint, but I'm going to do that as needed by scenario.
Onwards!

I do know how tough white can be and yours is looking sharp. I would love to jump in on the Star Wars game but I may have to sell off some 40k stuff first.

Likewise, B5 was a big part of my teenage years. I used to work a lot of the cons in Glasgow when I was at uni so got to hang out with a bunch of the cast back in the day.
Imperial Assault has the benefit of being very self contained, and not driven by the special characters. I really like the character development deck.
Yorkright wrote: I do know how tough white can be and yours is looking sharp. I would love to jump in on the Star Wars game but I may have to sell off some 40k stuff first.
Thanks matey. One good thing about it is the fact that because it's "finished" you can get good discounts. I also prefer it as a game to Star Wars Legion mechanically for skirmish play.
Fifty wrote:Love the red on those Imperial bodyguards.
Cheers old son!
Next on the desk for SW are Han, Chewie, Leia and two Rebel Agents, plus a Stormtrooper Commander, as that gives us everything needed to play our first campaign. I'll probably paint some more bounty hunters too I may have to hand prime though because the weather is wintery to say the least.
Today, as I say, we planned our campaign, building our semi-random mission decks (I'm Imperial, as that's effectively GM). We did try the app, which has an AI Imperial player... Not convinced, but might provide variety down the line. It uses different rules to the basic game, which do make sense but was just confusing to the kids. However gamerkid (#2) did like the Screen element.
And I painted up a belated birthday present, the elastopod team for Dreadball:
McKenzie's Monsters are here to PAAARRRTTAYYYYY!
These are one of the custom teams, and I love them in all their slimey glory.
And with that dear readers we are at 800 figs for 2020!

Don't fancy the Stormtrooper's chances much.
The irksome spawn has changed his mind about one of his characters for our Star Wars campaign , so I've had to add a Mon Calamari marksman (likes shooting fish in a barrel ) to the paint queue as a priority. As well as the Mon Cal sniper, they're taking a Wookie warrior, a Paduwan, and Lone Wolf Rebel gunman, with Han, Leia and Chewie as potential allies. However, the weather has turned unexpectedly mild so I plan to get a whole lot of Star wars stuff primed while I can. Heroes, Allies and Bounty Hunters first (bounty hunters can show up unexpectedly) plus of course the aforementioned Stormtrooper captain, as I'm playing the Stormtrooper experience deck for Imps. I love that, just as the rebels have experience decks and missions, Imps have different decks for character development for different styles of play - there's also an Officer deck, an Imperial Security Bureau deck, and so on - plus you build a stack of 6 different agendas, which represent different imperial factions (you might focus on technology, or Sith, for instance), and can alter the Rebel's missions accordingly: in an 11 mission campaign, Rebels choose 4 side missions for their characters, 4 for possible allies, and 6 mystery ones, and then they all get shuffled together, never knowing which exactly will turn up - plus they only get a mission briefing, whilst the Imperial player effectively GMs). Although I'm a bit late to the party, I'm pretty stoked.
Made real headway with my mounted Amazonian archer, had to re-resculpt her hand, as it wasn't quite right. And so, she's done!
And side-by-side with their converted counterparts:
Amazonians, Assemble! To be far, Donna Troy is not in this shot.
And finally, got the last 3 members of my Purple Power Princesses team done:
These have been hanging around my desk for aaaaaaages. Another inch closer to all the Dreadball done! not sure what scheme to paint my Hobgoblins in yet Till next time

you are nothing if not a troublemaker. I'm looking forward to the ATDP from the Coruscant expansion. That'll be lots of walkery wickedness, when I eventually, inevitably give in and get it. I have got the expansions for Hoth (which comes with an imperial speeder tank thing) and Jabba's Palace (woo! Rancor!) stashed away for the kids also.
Used the free Carnevale miniature from Miniature Wargames magazine to make Batwoman's nemesis / sister Alice. Had originally intended to find a Malifaux fig or similar but this did the job nicely.
"Who in the world am I? Ah, that’s the great puzzle." – Alice, quoting 'Alice' as usual. Because in the comics the character is depicted as porcelain doll-like, in layers of lace in white, blues and pinks, she was almost entirely done in inks, which was frankly terrifying, apart from the mask which was model air black, a dot of scarlet for the lips and the skin base tone which was (of course) deck tan.
Next is the Stormtrooper special character.
So. Much. WHITE.
I mean granted, he's a special character so he got a lot more layers (7), but still. Reminds me why the regulars only got a couple of layers over prime. I'll need to remember that for the Snowtroopers and Jettroopers...
Remaining Heroes, Han/Leia/Chewie and Bounty Hunters primed. Which still leaves a ton of other stuff from Bespin and Tatooine - Heavy Stormtroopers, Tusken Raiders, Ugnauts, Bespin Guards and of course Lando is a personal priority, as he has always been my favourite SW character (and I do love capes) - but good to be going on with I may switch the bounty Hunter in the campaign deck from Bossk to Dengar, simply because he's my son's favourite (go figure, weird kid - his favourite DC villain is Sportsmaster...) - there's no guarantee he'll turn up, but it'll be a nice touch if he does.
Otherwise, just trying to be disciplined - some base tidying on Dreadball figures, some detail work on the metalwork of Joker bikers, cloth on cultists - nothing noteworthy, but all chip-chips away. Rest of this week is going to be super quiet as the boy's birthday is Saturday; finished up the Mon Cal character so we can use him in campaign:
He was actually fairly straightforward, lots of thinned VJ WW2 colours and a skin tone of 50/50 Air Mahogany/Scarlet. The boy is pleased.
I really like painting up the Rebs, I'm a sucker for Endor schemes (for all that I'm happy to concede that Empire is better) simply because I have such strong memories of it as a kid.
As for birthday plans, taking the kids rock climbing and eating a LOT of food (Greek takeaway, Scottish fry up, Tex-mex all planned - and of course, cake) should be fun.
So, ticking over,

Not familiar with Alice (need to read more Batwoman, love the character but never picked up her solo stuff) but the paintjob is great, super ethereal and the colours tinting the pale dress work wonders
Worth the effort for that ST commander, he looks awesome. as does all the other SW stuff. Now that you're at least 3d printer adjacent, you might want to check out Skullforge Industries on Gumroad, they do a load of Star Wars proxies if you ever need more variety or want to throw in characters FFG didn't cover.

Well, I appreciate she's not a major character on a lot of folks' radar, but much like Nocturna (vampire, the other big-bad of Batwoman) she's a strong antagonist. She's also a much better take on Carroll's characters than Mad Hatter, imho, who's a bit naff. The New 52 comic version of the character was very much my inspiration. Printer-adjacent lol. So I'm getting, in the first instance, figs for Queen of Blood (DC villain), Arisia (a Green Lantern), movie Cyborg and movie Mera, plus - on the SW front - Din Djarin and the Child. This is the way
Theophony wrote:Great job with the inks on Alice .

Well, I don't know about good... I've also got two nephews and a sis-in-law this month I am really pleased with the Commander, I've got a Scout Trooper special (Agent Blaise) to do that will get the same treatment, but the Heavy, Snow and Jet Troopers are just getting dark grey prime, nuln wash, wolf grey highlight and blocked in white. In fact, given that it is so unseasonably mild () I decide to get absolutely everything else primed as well: Bespin Wing Guard, Ugnauts, Tusken Raiders, Weequay pirates, Gamorrean Guards, Rancor, Echo Base Troopers, Wampas, Assassin Droids, Imperial Snow Skiff and Imperial General Sorin. They'll all be done by the end of the day, weather willing. Will that be enough to be going on with?
Gitsplitta wrote:Lovely job on the white graven. You nailed it.
*Bows in nerd* ta!
As well as getting stuff primed, started to batter into next batch:
Against probability, I am making a fair bit of progress Things that are stressing me out: Chewie's fur has a surprising amount of variation in it (especialy at the shoulders and thighs), Leia's off-white outfit, Boba's iconic turquoise, alllllllllll the faces... *sigh* THIS is why I don't do Star Wars. Even with comics, there's variation in colour schemes and some wiggle room in masks. SW stuff is so iconic that there's no margin of error.
I have also been plodding away at the bikers
Despite appearances, they're very close to being finished, as it's mostly the black of the leathers that's left to do (which will be VJ Model Air + deck tan blended highlights). I'm sort of batch painting these along with the SW stuff, lots of pallet similarities - same turquoise as for Boba, etc. I'm very bad for not using my wet palette so colours get done together. A lot of Deck tan is going to get used shortly - Leia's outfit, Han's shirt, Dengar's cloth, Bossk's tabard - and likewise the black will also be used for weapons (and this is Episode 4 Han, too, so boots and vest). Before that I need to get Bossk's yellow flight suit done - I could just do him all tan though, and yellow glaze the flight suit. Decisions, decisions...

A lovely weekend for the boy's birthday was had, including a fair bit of geek time:
First game of our Imperial Assault campaign, Aftermath. The boys did convincingly well although a bit if bickering did see them nearly locked in an Imperial bunker next up is a side mission, a Jedi temple quest.
So, with that in mind... They are going to be looking for allies...
Especially with this lot after them...
Lots more individual pics in the gallery, if you're so minded. Tbh they all turned out rather better than expected.
I also gap filled the rancor
Tedious but necessary.
And I got the bikers done, at last
Deliver-boo, JustBeat and ÜberBeats.
Good to have a few more bits done and dusted. On we plod

I know, it reminds me of the legendary Khador Gap in classic metal warmachine figs. I hate milliput, as a rule, but this turned out to be the ideal solution. Imperial assault is indeed jolly, having the narrative element is always a winner.

Cheers old son! Yup, very poor form In retrospect, I wish I'd swapped the sword in Harley's hand for a bat or mallet, much more her.
Next up, monstrous encounters in the frozen wastes of Hoth!
Not going to lie, I did think about chopping one up to make Old One-arm just went with the bloody carnage instead. I remember being really scared of the Wampa when I was little - but then at least it wasn't a giant ice-spider! Technically, I've also broken a personal rule with these guys, in that their bases are painted... sort of: I don't paint "board game" bases, usually (vid Hellboy stuff).
And, from one 70s sci-fi classic to another, working on stuff for Dredd. Infernal Cabal, and The Dangerous Brothers.
Main colours all blocked in, just about.
I'm also working on the Galactic Gladiators, my final Dreadball team (well, for now, anyway - I have a second set of Koris and Rebs on the way), and gearing up for Xmas nonsense. I just need to be careful not to go all-out on Imperial Assault or I'll hit burnout.
Wampa looks considerably gored up! They were a source of fear for me as well, specifically due to their apparent immunity to blaster fire in Shadows of the Empire for the N64. A pretty effective movie monster, to have endured for so long in so many different contexts.
Gitsplitta wrote:Love the bloody Hoth monster... that's really well done!

Wife was doing an online craft course last line, so we cracked open a good bottle and set to doing stuff together. The Galactic Gladiators, ready to bring the stink! Really happy with how these have turned out, inspired by Hulk in Thor: Ragnarok. That's him on a Giant's base, he's really comparable in size to them, great model.
Got the 2000AD bits done also: The Infernal Cabal are kitbashed from a WW2 German sprue from a magazine and the Frostgrave Cultists sprue I picked up to make to Desaad. Couldn't be happier with how they turned out. At some point, I'll make them a big fleshy possessed (basically a Chaos Spawn).
And, The Dangerous Brothers Again, same bits, plus GW wings, old metal Gargoyle wings for one and Sanguinary guard for the other. The mutant militia now have counts-as Batgliders! Should actually paint the Speeder bike and Jetpack guys and then they'll be complete. Mutant Cursed Earth Raider teams are really, really powerful in Dredd, a proper challenge for Judges (most perps just get chewed up), so I'm really looking forward to a bit of wasteland carnage with the boy.

Ah! Gotcha! And know who you mean. This weekend's campaign game was a force-quest side mission.
And what force-quest would be complete without confronting a vision of the Dark Side? It was great fun, and I totally hammed it up as DM when they chose to use the force to get a free attack on Vader with my best Yoda voice. Not in the scenario rules per se but hilarious nonetheless.
I've actually not completed much this weekend. I finished a prone teraton for Dreadball (think an upturned turtle shell) but everything else is in progress. Mostly, Nurgle:
That's the Gellerpox and remaining Blightkings. Going for very dark, muted colours for the Gellerpox and decaying turquoise on the Blightkings. Randomly found a nurgle blood bowl marker in my bits box so that's now an objective marker I've also got two remaining Dreadball players on the go, a goblin and a dwarf, so when they're done I'll get a shot with the turtle.
As well as IA, we playtested a bunch. I can't say much about the new Dreadball game but it's fab, VERY fast, lots of fun, essentially simpler in many ways yet, weirdly, more strategic. Eldest especially loves it, bit too brutal for the younger (it can be a bit unforgiving at times).
So that's me, not doing too badly, bit fed up, but muddling through,

Lol thanks. Sadly no tauntaun. One of my running gripes is that assault is a slightly different scale to Legion (1/47 instead of 1/43) so it's not cross compatible, with all its lovely stuff. Primaris stormtroopers maybe? So, Dreadball! Terrible photo inbound: Yurik "The Painmaster", MVP Guard; a prone Teraton; and Slippery Joe, Marauder captain. These are momentous figures, as this means that - for now - I have all my dreadball painted. I'm missing a captain and an MVP, till we get the new expansion in March (two monkeys in a trenchcoat!), and I'm still on a quest to find the elusive xtreme promo and mayyybeeee 5 more 1st ed refbots to make a custom psycho robot team. I'm just pretending to ignore the fantasy team rules that have been released to enable conversion from a certain other sports game I also got an amazing supply drop from Hasbro The plush interactive Child will go to my daughter for Xmas, a couple of minis to the boys, black series for me and the rest as giveaways on Big Comic Page. I can neither confirm nor deny such rumours. 8~)
Quiet week, busy with real life. Kids n that. Still, finished up some Going for a very muted palette on these, just for variety. They'll end up in amongst my poxwalkers.
The Gellerpox will count as Blightkings for my AoS horde. I've added planks to bases so they're distinctive as my drowned unit.
Swarm. Buzz, buzz. Speaking of which, I still have all the tiny critters to do; they're getting added to my plaguebearer units for variety's sake. Also working on unit of pale, verdigris covered Blightkings, which will mean I'll hit around 2500 - much like the boy Prepping for a big game of AoS planned for Festivus.
Black Friday has invaded our shores (bloody colonials ) and I got a little backpay I was owed, so I have bitten the bullet and ordered a bunch of new km stuff via my buddy's store in Ayr (that's local by American standards, it's like half an hour down the motorway) - Sinestro Corps, Sinestro Lord of Fear, Green Lantern Corps, Hal Jordan Brightest Light, Krypto and, somewhat arbitrarily, Dark Knight Harvey Dent. KM have just fired their useless manager, so I am praying they start behaving competently. Also ordered Dreadball bits to finish the collection from Mantic (playtester discount! Woo!) and a squad of Avenger Strike Fighters for AI with Goblin Gaming store credit. So a bunch of stuff but for very little outlay.
Hoping for Armada today, fingers crossed firmly. Might change tack, do some batman, or back to star wars. Sky's the limit Best

That's fair enough, I can see that IA could get stale. Ideal for us just now though. But the scale thing is very poor indeed.

Productive day, all told. Clearing out little one's toys and making space for festive tat. Oh, Avenger Strike Fighters came from goblin gaming, and some Void 1.1 from the new license holder as a wee treat. I have a lot of affection for Void, having been UK champion back in the day, but that's long in the past now. Be interesting to see how things shape up in the new iteration.
Tomorrow, perhaps some playtesting with the kids, perhaps IA.bhot Moonstone stuff cleaned up today, a game I know nothing about, but the figs are lovely and very Henson style so looking forward to painting at least. 154 this month, 856 this year. What's left on the desk? Well, rel-a-t-ive-ly little, at least until I start the Reaper Advent calendar tomorrow (yay!): there's currently Batman stuff - not much - and a lot of Imperial assault. If I want to try to crack 900 then batch painting stormtroopers may be in order We played another campaign mission, as is our want at the weekend. They did... Ok. It was a break in and steal data mission. I was cruel and hit them with veteran stormtroopers. Amusingly, the wookie got the strength test objective - visions of him smashing a terminal till it magically worked! And the jedi the insight test one, so in that sense they got lucky. This meant 2 out of 3 terminals activated, but they dithered at the start and didn't take risks so only achieved a partial victory (didn't even get close to the third bunker) having a run-in with an experimental AT-ST and needing a daring fly-by lift out from their pick-up pilot. Crucially, to them it didn't feel like a loss, and their next full mission is tracking down Han Solo so they're excited about that... Might mess with them a bit and use my Influence to give them a tricky side mission I mean it's never as easy as just finding the character, is it? And hey, they know that from Mando There are bounty hunters after them now, as it happens... This is the way, Graven
Brute force terminal use, partial victory at the cost of near disaster, and now having to track down someone with with plot armor to face the Empire directly ... Sounds like they're getting the full Rebel experience, that must be some excellent game design!
Jokes aside, this IA stuff does sound really fun actually, and a good intro to more narrative gaming, almost an RPG-lite,perhaps, with the consistent progression and GM role? Incidentally. there's a great Star Wars conversion for DnD 5e out there if you ever wanted to lean even more into that, though it might be a little too complex for the kids.

On an exciting note, I painted up the last two figures for Bane's Soldiers of Fortune, Infiltrator Ops and Malicia.
Infiltrator was done using the same military green/black combos as I used for the Mutant Militia, whilst Malicia was done with thin blacks and grey highlights, plus Livery Green for the Venom detailing.

Spoiler:
I was very lucky that the small town I grew up in had one of oldest pubs in Britain at the end of our street and a five minute walk in either direction took you to two other local brewery pubs. Being a Man of Kent (and not a Kentish Man) I could reasonably be swayed by Harvey's beers (West Kent, where I'm from, borders East Sussex, whence Harvey's - the ancient pub's brewery - hails), but tbh I'm more of a Kentish Man (East Kent) in my beer tastes - Shepherd Neame, the great Faversham brewery, Kent's finest beer. Partial to Martston's (London, local pub #3), but I also like British beers from Wychwood and lots of smaller brewers, and I'm very fond of continental lager such as Heverlee also (what my wife refers to as "holiday beer", to be drunk in hot weather by a pool). However, my time in Scotland (i.e. my adult life) has drawn me into drinking a lot more Scottish beers, and I do like Brewdog, from Ellon near Aberdeen, even if they can be a bit... gimmicky at times. Glasgow's Drygate and Alloa's Williams Bros are other firm favourites. And then there's the home brew

I'm from Mechelen in Belgium, our brewery has won several world beer awards (Brouwerij Het Anker), so I'm quite spoiled . I'm a dark beer fan, and we happen to have some of the best dark beers around where I live: Gouden Carolus, Cuvée van de Keizer, Rochefort,Palm,...)
Loving that rogue model, the advent calendar seems very nice so far!
I'll reserve judgement on the beer till I've actually tasted it
IPAs are over-produced and over-rated in the USA. An unpleasant trendy fad. Meh. OTOH, the English beers available here are not so good. I suspect that it is a case of the English drinking up the good stuff and exporting the mediocre stuff, which is what we do here in the USA. That swill from America you chaps see is not even good enough to feed to hogs. ( the literal definition of Swill.)
RE:Kent. Have you been recently overheard in Mayfair?
I love the variety of minis on just this page. Total eye candy.
CommissarKhaine wrote:Well, to be fair we have a fairly thriving brewing tradition in Britain also different, I grant you to Belgium. IPAs have really grown with the "craft beer" movement as hops preserve, season and hide a multitude of sins.

Hops can hide a multitude of sins. It's interesting to me as Kent is the heart of hop growing in the UK, so the beers are traditionally hoppier than other English ales. I did have excellent Pale Ale many years ago when I greyhounded round north America at the Vancouver Island brewery.
Mayfair? Funnily enough I made chow mein last night though I'm not a hairy handed gent
Well, a quiet couple of days, little one has been poorly, and wife and I a bit under the weather as well - not Covid (tested to be sure), just a bug, but pukey kid means no sleep for any of us, really. Tis the season, I suppose.
Updates on the beer and reaper calendars:
Lovely, strong, unfiltered beer that I'm very partial to (got a couple of cans in the back fridge, in fact) and a cracking wee bat that's going to be painted bright green for beast boy. I did say (maybe just to myself) that what I was really hoping for from this was some Reaper animals (for to paint green) and maybe a male Tiefling (for Blue Devil). I'm particularly thrilled as it is a totally random assortment you get - no two calendars are the same. It's fun to see what other folk are getting over on the Mighty Lancer Games fb, obviously there's some duplication and an idea of what else is out there, but they've gone out of their way to use a really diverse array of figs, albeit mostly fantasy but then that's Reaper.
Not sold on this beer at all as a concept, I suspect herself will swipe it. There's always a couple of crazy beers that don't appeal to me that she ends up with - e.g. Lembic fruit beers are, in my opinion, Satan's armpit secretions but she quite likes them. So this "quirky" beer is all hers. However, the pile of baby dragon bones is just amazing for fantasy battlefield scatter - as the boy pointed out, what a great deadly or mystical terrain marker for AoS. I'm sure I'll get something fig wise I don't like at some point - a chibi, knowing my luck (not a fan of chibi/kawaii aesthetic) - but still, it's a lot of fun.
The beers were otherwise tasty and this pleases me

Lovely offer, but post here and spoiler block for all to enjoy or not as they wish
So, in light of the weather... Snowtroopers!
Frosty actually here, rather than snow, but still.
Rather like them.
For advent today, a tiny kobold to defend large beer (no doubt from thieving Halflings!)
I really like Cloudwater Vs Brewdog IPA - although it's LETHAL - and it definitely combines the best of both brewing traditions.
Had an excellent game of IA with the boys. I used influence to change the mission, so they were off to upload a virus to an Imperial facility.
They were ambushed. And then, glory of glories...
It's a trap! open fire! Just perfect.
They learned from past mistakes, however, and whilst almost everyone was seriously wounded, the wookie sprinted to the terminal and uploaded the virus meaning they just managed to escape. Good times! Off to find captain Solo next.
Onwards - more stormtroopers to follow... Graven

I would imagine only the larger companies export, so you never see the microbrewery stuff make it past the local pubs. The biggest horror I had going to Canada was the bar near the hotel selling "Premium import cider" at about £13 a pint... it was Strongbow, a cheap mass produced chemical abomination. Mind you this place also sold Traditional Irish Curry. I have absolutely no idea what that would have been. I dread to think!
anyway, the Imperial Assault figures seem to be coming along very nicely indeed!
Fifty wrote:Those Blightkings look bloody brilliant. You can almost see the flies buzzing in the air around them.

Tsk. He's a very versatile guy lol. Funnily enough, he wouldn't have succeeded if hadn't been shot and enraged (bonus die on a subsequent test). Another highlight was when they tried to slice (hack) a door panel), failed, and the guy with the vibro-knife literally sliced it open. Great moment.

Oh, I have experienced similar horror of alleged "premium" imported ales, it's so depressing! Microbrewed stuff often doesn't travel well. We are very, very spoiled in Glasgow, though. And thanks! I am actually adding bits and bobs to other figs here and there, as I hadn't fully appreciated the need to distinguish Elite villains from regulars - so you might notice that the officer now has a red cap badge and stripe on his blaster, for instance, and I've painted in the face plates of a couple of Royal guard black (a bit like the Champion).
Tyranid Horde wrote:I'm enjoying the minis and the beer! Always tend to like Brewdog's stuff, the weird ones are interesting to try at least.
Glad to be of service we spent my 40th a couple of years back in a Brewdog pub trying all the strangeness. My wife had bought me shares so we got discount also. It was... messy.
Gwyn chan 'r Gwyll wrote:IA seems like a really fun game, maybe I'll keep my eyes open for it. I appreciate your mini play reports!
It is! And because the game has "finished" (no new expansions) folk are often offloading collections (baffling to me, but there we are) - we got the core set (RRP £80), the first four full expansions (£40-60 each), all the wave 1,2 and 5 boosters (£15 each) and a few extras for £120. The app gives it added longevity, as it takes on the role of the Imperial Plyer/Narrator, so there's more of a mystery element plus of course, solo play.

On the other hand, there is a LOT of stuff.
So what with #mandomonday and all, here's the next batch of Stormtroopers:
And individually
Jet Troopers in Rebels colours
Heavy Stormtroopers. I'm pretty happy with how they all came together in the end.
On to advent matters. Today, a frosty Barbarian archer and a "light" beer.
This annoys me: Light is a style of ale, not a faddish low-cal thing. I suspect this is to be drunk cold and disposed of. I had the Cloudwater and it was indeed excellent, along with an Irish Red ale (meh, red ales should have a rich depth of flavour - this was just... meh) and an IPA so forgettable I can't even think of the name. The Barbarian, on the other hand, is another great model, very Frostgrave (not that I play it) - but I just really like these characterful wee fantasy figs. I strongly, strongly suspect I'm going to let the kids paint the majority of them (although the wife REALLY like the Halfling adventurer from the other day ) as a xmas project. Mad Hettie (Day 1) is still the absolute winner so far, though the bone pile is up there.
Am taking part in the Gaslands Secret Santa. I haven't Gasland-ed in ages, but I thought it would be nice to put together a box of cool cars and bits for someone. So many folk are stuck in the house unable to get good toys, I thought rather than making something I'll do a glory box. Does that sound reasonable, or should I make something instead?

Jet troopers look real neat with that extra dash of colour, and the Imperial output as a whole is nice and coherent. Need a shot of the whole force at some point, I imagine it's more numerous than some SW Legion armies!
900 is a truly staggering figure, you'll breeze past it though!

I really enjoyed doing them, and I'm glad the boy demanded that I do them in Rebels colours. And a group shot is coming, I need to audit what's left to do (and, realistically, think about another storage box). I don't about breezing through, because can't prime anything new just now - not risking it till we're a steady 10+ - so much as I'd like to start on Moonstone/Reaper stuff, it's likely that I'll continue to push through IA:
Heroes (9): Biv Bohdrik, Saska Teft, Onar Koma, Shyla Varad, Vinto Hreeda, Loku Kanoloa, Verena Talos, Davith Elso, Murne Rin
Allies (3): Lando, Echo Base Troopers (2)
Mercenaries (22): Ugnaught Tinkerer (3), Wing Guard (6), Tusken Raiders (4), Gamorrean Guards (4), Weequay Pirates (4), Rancor
So, just a couple of things Big Bane and Display Superman are calling me also though, but they're very much long-term projects. It's the eternal dilemma of wanting to get stuff done but not wanting to feel pressured leading to burnout. For all that we joke about hobby ADHD, the channel-hopping is a very necessary part of keeping one's interest. I also have some unbuilt Void 1.1 Viridians (great generic sci-fi figs)
Still, in the meantime, MHD-19, medical droid, and a bunch of crates:
These are repurposed Deadzone crates I was using as motherboxes for DC, but never actually got around to finish painting. A quick and easy job, and now colour coded for IA. Plus the droid from Hoth, who is a bit crap as a character but AMAZING as an ally. I feel I'm going down a slightly risky path painting my Hoth bases differently, as that leads to different bases by expansion - and at that point, I might as well paint the bases properly so we'll see. The rancor almost certainly will get a proper, bone covered base, as befits so mighty a beast.
Speaking of beasts:
Lovely Naga warrior fig, one of the best so far.
Quick tally of the rest of pile:
Primed - Bane the Bat (Display), Superman (Display), Red Hood (Rebirth), Thomas Wayne (City of Bane)
Unprimed - Reaper advent figs (10 currently, obviously), Moonstone Goblin Starter, Faeries, Human Starter and townsfolk expansion (14), Imperial Assault 3D terminals.
Unbuilt - 20 Viridian Marines, AI Avenger Strike Fighters (planning 2 Imperial Navy, 1 "Ghost"/Tau scheme, 1 looted)
In addition, a mate is printing me some DC figs, unused KM prototypes, which is exciting. Plus, Mantic assure me that my review copy of Armada is on its way, hoping for that by the end of the week
Spoiler:
At very low ebb. Concentration is shot and stress through the roof with the exams being cancelled, at least increasing our workload threefold. Hoping against hope that this pile keeps my spirits up.
Looking forward to "Fly Solo" at the weekend, boys are really keen to carry on with the IA campaign, finding their feet with the characters and rules. Super happy they've earned a droid to tootle about with them and very excited to try to get Han as an ally for the team.
So, on we go,

You're not wrong I am not a fan of Sours at all, and life is too short to drink crap beer. I suspect that I'll try this, in the spirit of advent-ure, only to discard. Hazy beers I'm less anti-, I have no problem with unfiltered beers (hey, I don't tend to filter my home brew), as long as you're not contending with lumps.
That is as many pages as there are years in a day!
I really like the Stormtroopers on the previous page.
Lol I almost wish I had more Stormtroopers to do... Almost
Yorkright wrote: Your hitting it out of the ballpark with all these minis at the end of the year. Those Stormtroopers look great as does all the beer.
You're most kind. The beer has been good - even the fake empire (which on the reverse is called The Empire Fruits Back ) was remarkably pleasant. Last night, carried on with my dive into Doom Patrol, and worked on the scum of Tatooine:
Weequay Pirates. Elites are the two with bloody knives and different skin tones. Yes, I did the bases Tuskens. Urooo-ururururur etc.
And Gamorrean Guards, everyone's favourite pigs... in... spaaaaaaaaaaaaaace!
Group shot. And what's that monolith in the background?
7% of lethal beer and some lovely reaper crystals - more excellent fantasy (or sci-fi, I suppose) scatter.
Weekend looking busier, supposed to upgrading to Fibre, router still not come though so no wifi in the house. We'll actually have to talk to each other or something...
Till next time,

Sooooo much Star Wars goodness From Clone Wars I knew that there are jump troops, but didn't know they had translated to the Stormtrooper days. Great paintjob on them and all the other stuff.
Loving all the models as always, those additions to your star wars collection will add some nice variety. Now you'll just need to build Jabba The Hutt's palace .
Good luck on the internetz issues!
No Wifi is the internets way of getting you to a thousand models this year.

Well, I have a rancor that rather needs my attention... Hmmmmmmmm...
After a holiday on Tatooine, how about a break on Bespin?
Lando has always been my favourite star wars character
Sweet space cape! And wing guard
I heart Bespin
On the subject of Star wars,
So one of my mates has been printing me some stuff. These are unused KM prototypes in STL form.
Atrocitus, Rage Incarnate, Tyrant of Ysmault
Apparently, they found this too graphic.
Karu Sil, Fear Itself
Too hard to manufacture. Shame, she's one of the most fun sinestro corps members
Arisia Rrab, Indomitable Will
Went with a different sculpt because reasons, so I might use this for a Red Lantern paintjob of her, or possibly Supergirl - vengeance of those who died because of wilfull ignorance
Mary Harker, Queen of Blood
Too obscure lol. Again, might modify her to make Bleez, semi naked red lantern demon lady. Like all the best/rationale red lanterns, Bleez is an avenging spirit, vengeance of sexual violence.
Mera and Cyborg, DCEU versions
No demand?! Pah. Again, Mera will get red lantern treatment - vengeance of the ruined seas.
And, non KM... Din Djarin & Grogu!
Yes, that's the Mandalorian and Child.
And the wife's reaction to this last one in particular?
...
"Why don't you just get yourself a 3D printer?"
Result!
So at some point, I think an elegoo Mars 2 pro is in the offing but I'm open to advice.
Had a couple of games of Imperial Assault this weekend. First, they rescued Han...
Then, climbed a mountain with Leia.
Ran into some trouble.
Lot of fun. Kids finally learning the rebels are always against the clock.
Unfortunately, their next mission is a spice run to clear their debts with Jabba. It's interesting (bear in mind this campaign is set immediately after episode 4) as they know that, on some level, they will fail, but they're still super excited. A very well conceived game, though it does favour the Rebel player. But that's ok when they're older we'll up the difficulty level (good scalable mechanics exist for that also). I do worry about replay value for the base campaign but I think you can potentially construct the campaign in such a way that it plays out differently after the first mission. And hey, I'm the GM, after all tbh having deep SW lore does help with the story, for today's game I used a plot point from an episode of Rebels to flesh out the narrative, and it really added to impetus and immersion for them: they went off and spent the rest of the afternoon building minifig versions of the characters. Job done!
And before I forget, weekend beers and minis:
Lovely drow will cut you if you break lockdown The boy nicked this for his nighthaunts in under a minute.
Hey ho, and on we go,

Lando looking appropriately suave, nice work on the Galaxy's best-dressed chap and his security detail.
Looking forward to the Red Lanterns assembling, some neat minis there and look like great prints to boot. Atrocitus himself I actually prefer the released version, same for Arisia. And Din and Grogu look great. If you ever fancy a larger scale (75mm) Mando, this one prints really nicely, the same guy also does a Boba Fett I need to get round to. https://www.myminifactory.com/object/3d-print-bounty-hunter-75mm-131392
Lots of advice on prospective printer purchasing down in (naturally) the 3d printing subforum, so worth digging through some of those threads. The main thing they won't tell you about is the need to build an extension for all the new minis you'll be cranking out! *looks guiltily at desk overflowing with Dwarves, Orcs, barbarians, dragon people, fish people and.a large scale inquisitor*

Thanks for sharing your gaming stories and pics with the family it’s good to see someone gaming. Plus who wouldn’t want to adventure in the SW universe!
Lovely work on Lando, although him holding the cape looks a bit weird. Have the nagging feeling he wants to pull it in front of his face, Dracula or Lrrr style And it's so great seeing the kids getting involved in the hobby, can't wait for my boys to get a bit older and also start them on the good path
I've an older Elegoo Mars and absolutely love it, so the 2 Pro will be a really solid investment for you. Soo you will be churning out more figures than you can possibly keep on top of...

Well, that's not the full fig for Atrocitus, there's a base to come also - this was the planned 60mm display version, to go with Brightest Light and Lord of Fear. I love the regular Atrocitus also, it's a banging sculpt, but I do love the brutality of this one. Appreciated. Luckily, the lovely folk at Mighty Lancer Games (who do the calendar) include a warning insert in day 1 to avoid spray primer
Aside from over-excited little miss rumbling in at 3am (she's Mary in her nativity today), am generally pretty fine as we hit the last full week of term. Lovely weekend - we had no wifi (new fibre router escaped from Wales but got stuck in Yorkshire, finally sorted this evening) so it was all colouring, crafting, board games and DVDs - actually really chilled out. Lots of cake too possibly some beverages were imbibed also.
Ugnaught Tinkerers next; I added a gs cap and goggles to distinguish the elite version:
I have spoken Pretty pleased with how my quick Kuill conversion turned out. I did think about losing the droid arm but, honestly, it's SO Kuill that I really couldn't looking forward to using IG-88 as his Elite Junk Droid The last two generic troops are Echo Base Troopers very annoying that they're a 2-pack not a 4-pack, and I'm loathe to buy more (maybe I could print some somehow - and then hey, other poses, more stormtroopers... )
Now it's just the remaining characters and the Rancor (which I'm not touching till I get some brown primer).
Today's... brew:
Yup, a hag squatting over her cauldron. So much character in the figure, fun model, sort of Baba-Yaga vibe.
I've got some moonstone to build, tiny delicate things. Lovely figs, but intimidating. Other than that, I'm still dithering over the big display figs. I'm actually kinda enjoying the horde painting thing Graven
Well now, today's "miniature" is simply the best yet:
And with display Wonder Woman for scale.
I did consider positioning his spear to cover the L of CLOCKWORK I'm really excited to be facing the challenge of this fella. I plan on using him as Ares, I think - he certainly seems divine enough. He's a Spartan Living Statue, and granted it's more of an Achilles vibe - but still, I love it, and he makes a great antagonist for my Amazons - ruleswise, I'd probably run him just as Doomsday or Darkseid. I'm only slightly sad I don't have the female version I also discovered that I can Vallejo white primer for £2.45 same day delivery via amazon, so that was an easy choice
Nice work on the tinkerers! Goggles look great and it's interesting how a few variations in shade and tone can help differentiate the duplicate bodies.

Lando is cool. keeping with the beer theme, decorate his base with a few cans of Colt .45 malt liquor.
Seeing these minis reminds about how good the first 2 Star Wars movies were and how not good the rest were
The Hag and her cauldron...I've heard the expression grunting on the can, so grunting on the cauldron works. Oh, and Reaper now has a Baba Yaga hut with some scary realistic chicken legs. The hut itself does not look particularly Slavic though. Sadness there.

I love him as Harvey Dent, actually, and the fact that he plays him in Lego Batman is genius. I had seen that hut, it's not bad, if impractical as a game piece I have her on her tub for Hellboy also.
Steadily chipping away at the remaining Heroes for Imperial Assault, first one finished is Biv Bodhrik, Rebel Guerilla:
Heck of a model, and really interesting in game: he's generally ahead of the power curve to start with (cos he has a honking great gun that he can also bludgeon with) but plateaus much more quickly that any other.(limited choice of extra gear/skills)
Can't believe I freehanded a rebel logo. And then weathered fudge it of it And futher adventures in advent, aside from the large and lethal beer:

Disappointingly, yesterday was a double do two halflings make a pint?
Today, however, more than made up for this with a pair of tiny super-cute robots. I love them, and whether they are pottering about a space station or causing murderous mayhem as Joker toys, they're an absolute winner. They're going to get a tin-toy candy paint jobs, that's for sure, one red and one blue - I think I'll call them RK-M and SK-M A Facebook advert got me yesterday, Diception popped up with a promo Red Hood Joker (new edition), so that was an easy choice for £14. Xmas, baby. Otherwise, pottering along. My S3 (14/15) asked me yesterday if they could watch an Xmas movie... So we're watching Batman Returns Hey ho-ho-ho,

Wow, you really keep on churning them out, nice work! Those robots do loo super cute indeed; what was you issue with the halflings? they seem like decent models?

Thanks buddy. I don't have an issue with the Halflings per se, it's just that this was the second time I got the fig in the calendar. I think the individual fig is ace, just no use for two the same.

Gitsplitta wrote:So, I'm getting the impression that Brew Dog is the IPA center of the universe...
Nah I'm just working my way through their calendar it's funny, I remember 20 years ago it was really, really hard to get a good IPA. Deuchars IPA was the only Scottish IPA on draught and it's foul (IPA on draught is historically a challenging thing, as the whole point is that it matures in the cask in the hold of a ship). These days, there's plenty of great IPA (draught, bottle or can) but there's a lot of adulterated rubbish also that uses hops to hide poor flavour. Williams Brothers' Joker IPA is probably the best draught there is, but Brewdog's Punk IPA is the backbone of their business and very commercially available. Plus, I have shares, so I get discount online and in their bars.

Saturday's advent, as you may have spied, was this:
I don't like sours at the best of times, and now I know what comes out of the Grinch's anus. That Martian is another matter entirely, amazing fig and perfect addition to my Martian coaching staff - his brain is a little big for the Mantic plexi hoods but I'll manage, I'm sure.
Today, however, is another matter:
I don't know what a spiky IPA is, but I'm excited to find out love the citizen figure. *Edit- turns out a bitter edge. Lovely.
The boys attempted to boost some Spice from the Hutts:
They did ok, not brilliantly. But then, Chewie never did manage to pull off a successful enough job to throw the Hutts off Han's trail.
Had a big zoom catch up with my best bitches (as they refer to themselves), a group of fellow Scottish media teachers. Good to have some human contact, after a fashion at least Meanwhile, I got on with the other heroes
Davith Elso, young Jedi
Fun with OSL Shayla Varan
Might've painted her as Bo-Katan Speaking of repaints
Saska Teft as Dr Aphra
Given that they did her psychotic droids, the least one could do is her. Tsk. I'll use her as an elite ISB agent I think.
Hmm, who's this scoundrel?
Verena Talos, essentially a gender switched Han.
Not everyone's a fighter
Murne Rim, Ithorian agent
He's great in game. Terrible physically, but can give orders to enemy figures And collected team of Rebel Scum
Just leaves the Rancor. Loved every bit of this. Sadly, one of my mates is threatening to print me extra stormtroopers
The older boy also started teaching the younger AoS...
Went fairly well despite a not inconsiderable amount of rage quitting.
Meanwhile, tiny madam Halfling has loved being able to paint figs:
Not bad for a 4 year old.

Lovely models, and my condolences on that first beer, glad the second one came out better! And a double mini in an advent calendar is a shame indeed. Random is random I guess.
I know Luke’s APS had a video on Howe to prime any time of the year, and being from the UK, he might give some insights so you can release your slaves .....or task them to other chores .
Just have to concur with the rest about the IA minis, very well done Graven. Good to see the gravenspawn having fun with minis and gaming. Keep up the great work and stay safe.

It's not a big deal, tiny madam loved painting it and I've got an extra if I want to do one. More importantly, it's really got me thinking about Reaper figs to pick up for myself for random projects.

Well, technically it's Mighty Lancer Games in the UK, not Reaper themselves, that do the calendar.
Slinky wrote:Star Wars IA stuff is v cool, I have been thinking of picking that up to play with my boys
Do it, it's great for Dad-gaming, and even when things go wrong, it still feels fluffy, which is great game design. It's also very easy to tweak things: so, for example, I swapped out a couple of imperial things from that last mission (which is from the base set) to add in the Weequay and Gamorreans from the Jabba's Palace set as it just made sense. Sadly, the Rebel Scum are about to get attacked by elite Imperial troops in their supply base. In the main game it's Royal Guard and the Royal Guard Champion but to my mind that doesn't feel quite right (as if they'd be away from the Emperor hunting down ragtag rebels) so I may switch them out for a mix of Elite Regular and Heavy Stormtroopers with Kayn Somos, the Stormtrooper commander - although the Royal Guard Champion is PARTICULARLY terrifying in game - he's like one of Snoke's Praetorians, so I have to keep the power balance right.

Milkshake IPA? Tropical at that?!! Stop messing with my beer damnit! And a chibi. I hate chibis. I knew there would be one, it's inevitable. For all my interest in Japanese culture, just not a fan of the BESM kawaii aesthetic etc. I'm even indifferent on FunkoPops, even though I have a couple (gifts - a Lando and a Batman). Still, girl-spawn thinks it's cute, so it's another for her. I suspect I will fill the back and steal the bat wings - you never know when you need a set of bat wings - and the cobblestone base is rather nice too. Priorities
Tuesday - last day of school!
Now that's some haul. Elvis Juice, but lethal. And a Klegg! Well, a space lizard, but perfect for a Klegg, the vicious alien mercenaries from Dredd. If I were being niggly I might put it on a 40mm base (looks a bit daft with the overhang) but meh. I picked up the Strontium Dog rules - same ruleset as Dredd, but has the custom creation rules - so can knock together stats for the killer Croc (ahem). Slicey-slicey oncey-twicey!
In fact...
Better base, better beer. Well, better than the tropical travesty (it wasn't awful, actually, just like drinking fizzy pineapple).
Not much on the paint slab atm. I want to spend decent time/effort on the final DC figs - lots of cape work means lots of wet blending, so actually need time to do so (granted, no wet blending required for Red Hood, but as Rebirth Jason is my favourite, I want to do it justice). I'm hoping that festive lockdown will give me time to do so. Speaking of comics, I've massively downsized my pull-list for DC, as the backlog was starting to stress me out (much to my wife's amusement #nerdworldproblems), so now it's just Batman, Detective Comics, Hellblazer, Red Hood, Nightwing, Green Lantern and Far Sector. I realise I have read the last 75+ issues of Flash out of a weird sense of obligation, and both Wonder Woman and Superman have really gone downhill. It's interesting that there is ZERO chat about Endless Winter - yet another BIG DC CROSSOVER TM - partly because it's getting overshadowed by Future State, partly because of crossover fatigue, I suspect. I am looking forward to getting back into IDW (Transformers, Canto), BRPD and new Star Wars comics, which I've totally lost track of.
Off now till... 6th, depending on what they decide. So Xmas, here we come! Graven
Lovely job on the Ithorian! Always wanted to know what they were called. Only played IA a few times, but I played a similar support-type character and had a blast. The OSL job on the young jedi is great too.
I'm on the record as a fan of milk stouts (on nitro if possible), so I'm happy with a milkshake-type beer; but a milkshake IPA is not for me. Thank you for taking on the burdens of beer review, we appreciate the sacrifices you make!

Cheers matey! The mix of characters makes for a great game - everyone's got something to do. Granted, I think Hellboy does it BETTER but IA has its charms.
I prefer an oatmeal stout or porter, myself. The consumption of the beer is a cross I must bear. Speaking of which, my mother provided me with a couple of proper English ales along with our Xmas wine (noice), the Spitfire you see above (from my home county in the Home Counties) and Marston's Pedigree (a fine London bitter). Comforts of old indeed. Where I grew up we had 3 pubs (a Shepherd Neame - they of Spitfire - a Marston's and a Harvey's (that one literally at the end of the road) within a ten minute walk, so you grew to appreciate an English ale.
I *suppose* I had better paint something.
This is the way.
Season 1 Mando. Not quite NMM, but a lot of those principles.

Overall, very pleased. Used an extremely limited set of colours (VJ air black, air mahogany, deck tan and Arctic White, livery Green for Grogu and a speck of air blue for Din's shoulder and wrist details), all blended. I've been avoiding washes and drybrushing for the SW stuff as a whole, and I think it's paying off in the aesthetic overall.
Today's penultimate advent haul:
I love a good bystander figure. And how fitting, given the comments about stout above. The tendency to lean into the chocolate on stouts is not my favourite, but I'll give it a bash.
Still, appeals to my movie nerd:
Layer Cake is one of those great underrated movies, broke Daniel Craig into the mainstream, plus Tom Hardy, Michael Gambon and Colm Meaney all on top form (and great direction from Matthew Vaughan). Craig and Vaughan were originally picked to collaborate on Thor off the back of it, funnily enough. So referencing it with a beer definitely appeals Xmas is coming, and I've yet to start the cooking slightly concerned that I'm giving myself a lot of prep tomorrow, but I'm sure it'll be FINE...

Thanks matey, a valid point and I'm as you like it! That was absolutely the aim, it was done over dark grey prime and then all lined with mahogany for that exact reason - hurrah! I've not risked the beer yet, though the Elvis Hammer was astounding, possibly the best of the lot (so far).
Got an AMAZING supply drop from Mantic. I'd ordered a few 1st ed refbots but one of them was missing an arm. No biggy, I'm using them to be a rogue broken bot team but happened to mention to warehouse manager in the group chat. Then this happened:

Oh! Also, this came:
Really looking forward to digging in. First impressions are it's VERY pretty. Merry Mantic Xmas! I think 2021 is definitely going to favour Fantasy between this, Moonstone, Jaws of the Lion and Shadows of Brimstone.
I bought WD yesterday for the first time in forever. I got it for the (delayed) Aeronautica stuff on looted flyers and tau human allies. Interesting, but hardly justifies the cover price. Still, has got me thinking, and I have plan
And the final advent:
I must've been a good boy this year (or perhaps a clever girl) to get the one Reaper mini I really wanted from my mlgadvent calendar - and a lovely brew as well! Now Beast Boy can be a dinosaur!
Today will involve food prep, tidying and Xmas crafting. Doubt there will be much nerding.

Afaik there is a new reboot if dystopian wars? But just opening armada and it's so pretty. The mat is huge - 44x30 - enough tokens, but not FFG quantities, some MDF ones for faction specific stuff (nice), different coloured bubble wrap around the ships and bits for the 2 fleets (genius), no bubbling, warping or other casting issues I can see; first impressions are very positive.
Well Xmas has been... Interesting. Turned on my fan oven to bake cinnamon rolls, and it wouldn't heat past 50 degrees. I have double oven but this has been... Interesting... my top oven is a bit temperamental so I unscrewed the thermometer from my BBQ and put in the oven instead. It held 160 despite being on full blast... Turkey was ok. Bit of juggling, but ironically for the first time ever everything was ready EXACTLY on time and, I might add, delicious. Not bad for a 6.5kg Turkey in an oven that barely fitted it.
On the plus side, I got this:
Wife is evil. Evil I say. I'd actually decided AGAINST a printer, and she gets me this?! Wicked woman. So dutifully ordered myself a curing chamber off Amazon, a bit of an indulgence but it's not like I paid for a printer Her sister got me RotJ Luke Skywalker for SWIA, whilst my folks got me (amongst other oddments) Aeronautica Tau assets and (randomly) Lego Minions - odd, but cool - and a flagon (yup) of St Ayle's golden ale, which was glorious. There's hope for them yet I also got a nerd drop from erithromycin of a custom carry case for gaslands along with a LOT of new toy cars to customise. I haven't really done much Gaslands in a long while so some toy cars might be fun.
Sometimes though, the toys we get ourselves are most glorious: I was seriously chuffed to find a promo anniversary red hood (well played, targeted Facebook advertising) for a decent price, and because he should be on a 40mm base decided to customise accordingly. Hopefully it will look... Ace also picked up the tokens and buildings from Strontium Dog for a song, so that was a nice wee bonus.
Hope likewise your festive season has been successful,

Welcome to the future, where we have magic boxes that turn goo into amazing miniatures! Can't wait to see what you start cranking out with that, there's such a smorgasbord of great stuff out there.
Those board games look beefy. you'll have no shortage of stuff to paint in 2021, even before the printer!

Well, having done the test print of the Rook files that come with it, I have put together my first plate for stuff: a Tiefling for use as Blue Devil, a couple of Transformers cinematic blasts for the boy to use in his stop motions, a pillar for Shadows of Brimstone, an R5 unit and a console for SWIA:
First prints on my Mars Pro 2, done in 1hr 47. Thoughts and queries, L-R.
R5 and visitor bust - both worked perfectly, very happy.
Targa pillar - slight bulging, I wonder if this is because rather than printing vertically I printed it on its side and the resin has pooled?
Console - you can see that the base has cracked where I removed it from the plate with a metal scraper. This is my biggest worry, that I'm finding it really hard to release things from the plate; any advise?
Tiefling - arms have collapsed completely, should I have added supports? (And if so, how?!)
Not pictured - 2 cinematic blast effects for transformers that simply didn't print. Weird.

Entirely evil, I quite agree
First impressions from starting Shadows of Brimstone (City of the Ancients) with my kids:
So, the game is fun they are enjoying it, and find the mechanics intuitive. We seem to rack up stuff fairly quickly and that gives a good sense of progression that they find satisfying. Trips to frontier towns seem to run a disproportionately high chance of negative results. I can see, perhaps, why folk recommend the expansion to iron that out.
Personally, I find the minis a bit irritating from a build side - lack of base tabs, quite gappy, monopose yet fussy. Plastic is good quality, nice details, and fairly evocative.
Their impressions compared to other games: the older one doesn't feel particularly immersed in the game world, in the way he does with licensed products, but likes the supernatural horror elements. The younger really likes the setting, and weaving the story together. However, even after just a couple of games he's noticing a samey quality to the monsters. They both like the encounters and the variety that brings, and the older particularly liked the fact that we ran into Goliath relatively early (that boy does love Cthulhu). So, first impressions are broadly positive; it'll be interesting to work our way fully through the COTA campaign and see how they feel at the other end.
On to a lot of gap filling Does pain me not to playing with painted minis, but there you are.
Later, we're going to try Gloomhaven Jaws of the Lion... Wish me luck Graven
Brimstone looks neat, if it does get a little samey I'm sure you'll be homebrewing and improvising additions in no time!
As for the printing questions, I'll keep the answers brief here but can go into more detail if you want.
"Should I have added supports?" The answer is basically always yes, unless a file is specifically noted as being 'support free'. What needs supporting are 'overhangs' and 'islands'. which are any parts that aren't printing on top of an existing layer. The Tiefling's arms for instance, come down from the shoulders and thus are trying to print on 'nothing' (or rather, printing as the UV screen comes on but sticking to the vat film rather than the plate as there's nothing to hold it to the model). You then get those pancake-flat bits sticking out from the shoulders as that's where the failed parts finally attach to the rest of the print.
As for removing from the plate, similar to the above you generally never want to print directly onto it, for the reason you've already noted, it can be a nightmare to remove. In whatever slicer you're using, there should be a setting ()probably in the supports interface) to lift the print above the plate. a good rule of thumb is to lift 5mm, tilt back about 5-15° and support from there.
If you're up for some homework, watch through this playlist and try setting up a print along with it, the production values are shaky but the info is solid. It's not everything you'll ever need to know to get good prints, but it's a good 90% of the initial learning curve simplified and concise. Then there are some more advanced videos on that same channel that will make sense after you've got the basics down.
Oh, also, filter your resin and clean out the tank before your next print, odds are there are some failed parts stuck to the film (especially the two that didn't print at all) which will dent the film or potentially even damage the screen if not removed. You might have already done this, but it is something it's easy to overlook.
Nice work with the prints. For the pillar, did you have supports on it at all, or flat on it's side on the build plate?
SoB can feel a little samey with just one of the boxes. When you start adding in the expansion sets and new otherworlds it becomes crazily varied as the sheer number of monsters can become a challenge in itself. I'd suggest picking and choosing the expansions that appeal to you (while sticking to the otherworld themes) and slowly growing. I've got everything from the first two kickstarters and havn't seen half of it yet. The next best purchase is the other wild west starter box as you'll have 4 more heroes to pick from and a new selection of monsters. There are loads of new missions and monsters on BGG as well
@Paradigm thanks so much for the outstanding advice. Much to chew on.

Good advice squire. Is the other Wild West starter Swamps? Struggling to find it but will continue to keep an eye out. The pillar was flat on its side - a mistake I've learned from
Speaking of which, we're setting up print number 3:
Another pillar, a test tree, a pre-supported dwarf beer wench, another attempt at a cinematic blast effect, and a junk droid. The boy and I have been studying up...
Also, rather annoyingly, I picked up some epic thunderbolts and marauders, with a notion to orkify them, but they are TERRIBLY small.
So, if anyone wants them, fire me a pm. Dakka gets dibs.
On the other hand, I also got a Reaper Bones Astrolabe and it's HUGE! too big, really - I was thinking it would be 40mm high ish, instead it's about 100 and ~60 across the bottom. But I love it. So I shall build it, and it will appear in games as scenery the astrolabe is a size 2 object in Hellboy - person sized - whereas this is ... A... Bit... Bigger but then quite fitting for arcane instruments
Today, we tried Gloomhaven - Jaws of the Lion. Older boy thought it was ok, not gripped by narrative, willing to give it a go, though wants to play some more SWIA. Younger boy really didn't like it, card driven combat mechanic primarily. I think it's possibly to old for them, or at least youngling - he's much more keen to keep going with Shadows and, tbh, I kinda see where he's coming from. Maybe it's my fondness for Deadlands, but it's the campaign I'm keen to get back to. Hey ho.
Tomorrow, hopefully, I'll have news of the print ...
Till then

Yes, Swamps of Jargano, though the Forbidden Fortress starter is also really solid but doesn't follow the Wild West theme. It does, however, act as 2 new Otherworlds so you can start in Japan and can end up in the American desert anyway. Some fantastic monsters in that one.

Yes, Swamps of Jargano, though the Forbidden Fortress starter is also really solid but doesn't follow the Wild West theme. It does, however, act as 2 new Otherworlds so you can start in Japan and can end up in the American desert anyway. Some fantastic monsters in that one.
If I could've got FoFo at the time, I would've. One for the future. Not going to run it of choices for expansion.
Right. Here's the first proper set of our prints:
Going through them:
Pre-supported dwarf beer wench, about 35mm (big for a dwarf), lovely figure and very informative for learning about placement of supports.
Tree, which allegedly was support free. Auto supported it, glad I did. I'll now do bigger versions.
Targa pylon, needed more support underneath, gone a bit wonky.
T3 droid, bit big (Legion, not SWIA) but happy with it regardless. I did the supports, worked well.
Ghostbusters blaster with peg for Transformers, with blast effect with own peg - boy did all the supports, and his reward is a full print is now in overnight of other blast effects.
That's tomorrow's excitement planned Me and the boys took a dive down into the mines of Brimstone again...
Only to have the mine collapse at the end of the adventure, and have to find our way out! Excellent adventure, strong narrative, and great link to the next adventure which was likewise very enjoyable. Now we've found a gate to the Other World, guess I know where we're going next ...
2020 has been a very productive year, with all its ups and downs. I'll do a full review next week, but thanks all for you support. 930 painted - couldn't have done without you! I'd love to hear what your favourites were Big nerd love,

Hurrah, those prints look great. If you wanted the droid in a smaller scale for IA, Chitubox does let you rescale models, it's the third button down the left when you're laying out the plate. (just keep in mind it'll remove any supports, so rescale then support). That Dwarf looks like an Artisan Guild one if I'm not mistaken, they are great to learn from as their presupports are generally very well done, I've printed loads of theirs with few errors.

930 is a hell of a score, one to be proud of!
Well it turns out the T3 droid really is that big, so I'm not fussed. The wench is indeed Artisan's guild, though I only now discover they are 54mm learning process on my next print I'm going scale down one of their demon portals for general use.
aku-chan wrote:930 minis in a year is incredible, I wish I could achieve just a fraction of that!
It WAS a very strange year, to be fair.
Slinky wrote:930 is jaw-dropping, particularly when you look at the consistently high quality of your output!
Bravo, sir, bravo!
Lol quantity over quality, truly.
Me and the boys finished phase 1 of our Brimstone campaign today:
We collapsed the mine that was causing the townsfolk's troubles, levelled up but found many mysterious artefacts from another world - guess campaign part two beckons!
We printed out a set of cinematic blast effects for Transformers overnight, riding the Earthrise hype:
One failed, randomly, and one missile had issues with its 3mm peg slot so I'm going to have to very carefully drill that out. But the rest worked brilliantly, and he's one very happy kid. War for Cybertron is go!
So here's a run down of my 21 hobby pledges for '21:
1) First and foremost - not to try to aim for any set number! If I do 365 (or more!), great, if not, not a big deal.
2) Build, paint and play Armada - got the starter stuff, just got to get it done!
3) Paint my remaining BMG and DCU figs - ideally before the new ones turn up!
4) Complete Dreadball - track down the last promo fig Tycho, try to track down a set of the promo Frenzy dice, maybe get an MDF pitch, and get the last couple of non-promos painted - and play some more [REDACTED] 5) Paint up Strontium Dog stuff - I've ended up with a set of the Scum of Universe and of course my not-Klegg, plus the building from the starter set, so that'll be fun - and play more Dredd vs SD vs AI opponents (tweaking our AI system!)
6) Paint up Reaper figs for the fun of it - no other reason needed!
7) Organise my Star Wars Imperial Assault Collection - this really means get another carry case Did I mention I got Luke Skywalker, Wookies and Hired guns at last?
8) Paint up some 3-D Prints - lots made, so let's do something with them!
9) Explore Shadows of Brimstone - it's a massive hit with the kids, and I'll take that and run with it.
10) Kitbash/print some more Aeronautica - haven't actually played in ages, so some hobby might help the motivation
11) Get back into Gaslands - haven't played with toy cars in ages. SHAME!
12) Learn how to use the printer a bit more - kinda obvious, but still... 13) Get a real-life game of BMG3rd - this is obviously hugely optimistic, but a guy can dream.
14) Play more AoS with the kids and help #2 get his AoS Stormcast up and running - he's shown an interest at last, so I need to figure out how to help him with that.
15) Finally get my Copperhead conversion finished - she's been sitting on my desk for ages 16) Build some Void 1.1 - ah, retro (ish) gaming. Loved a bit of Void back in the day, and I've got a squad of Viridian Interceptors to attend to.
17) Work on getting my painting back up to where I was 4 years ago - I've not really had any hand episodes this past year; the regular painting of the last year seems to have helped build up a lot of muscle strength. Now, it's about getting the technique back.
18) Give Gloomhaven JotL another go - it was a big investment, not ready to write it off yet!
19) Paint and play Moonstone - we've now got a mat and everything! Woo!
20) Reorganise my hobby desk drawer - I want to clear this out and make it solely for game components (cards, templates, dice), rather than the mish mash it is just now.
21) Finally, the big one - try to keep my hobby area tidy! Aye right Best of the season to you all,

That's a lot planned for 2021, if we didn't already know what you are capable of we would think it was unrealistic I hope you are able to get in some games of BMG. Out of curiosity what does army does your older son play in AoS? You've probably mentioned it, but if so I have forgotten.
So, only triple digits in the end, shame on you scnr. 930 is mighty impressive and your plans for 2021 are pretty cool, excited for the things to come!
21 pledges? I'm happy if I can make 1 . Loving to hear about the 3d printing as well: most of my friends that have one seem to spend equal times troubleshooting and churning out brilliant stuff.

High time I painted something!
Careful. This R5's got a bad motivator.
So, go big or go home, right?
He's an angry chap. We had a great game of SWIA today:
I swapped out the Royal Guard Champion for Din Djarin, we decided he was Boba Fett with +2 accuracy (longer range) rather than Mobile (can move over terrain). Royal Guards were swapped for HKs and threat spent on IG-88.
They BARELY survived. It was GREAT More prints, still scale testing
Tree at 150% is perfect. As feared, the SW STLs are for legion so everything else has been scaled back 90% - printing just now.
I printed an abyssal gate for Shadows also
Aiming to print another in this colour and two more in trans blue.
Sadly Tiefling too big, this time Not sure if this chap is done yet or not
Trying my hand at marble
This is for this month's dakka contest. Never painted bones before, never tried marble, never tried this scale.
In the paint queue are the Carnosaur / Beast Boy and Red Hood just now.
Next on the print line, meanwhile, be some fantasy odds and ends. A Benkei (finally, a spear wielding Oni!), a Yuma (hungry ghost), giant bear, another portal and a soul sucking sorceress that boy is going to use as a counts-as Cairn Wraith I think. After that, I've got some Aeronautica files I want to play with, Imperial Agents and Salacious Crumb, plus attempting to fix the Targa Pillars. I mean I'll find other things too, I'm sure. Graven
Some wonderful things happening on this page! Loved reading about your games with your kids and interesting to hear their takes on the systems. Those energy blasts for the transformer look great - looks like the printer was a present for the whole family!
Marble is looking noice, I'm glad you kept the donger, and the eye glow is suitably menacing. I think maybe a few brighter highlights would help there but not sure - I've never painted it either.
What a year of progress! Those are super impressive numbers. Looking forward to seeing where 2021 takes you!
Hmm 4 days into the new year and your off to the races. That droid and Rancor look the part, well done on those two. Marbling is realistic on the statue and those prints look cool, do you have to wash them before putting ant paint on them?
Don Qui Hotep wrote:New year, new techniques, and we're not even a week in! Really well done on the marble, did you use any shades or just layer on each color?
Thanks! Marble process was:
Prime vallejo white (Reaper don't like aerosol, and it's too bloody cold anyway)
Wash seraphim sepia
Drybrush vallejo deck tan
Draw in thin y shaped lines with Vallejo air mahogany
Edge thinned white around rounded surfaces and edges of dark lines
Spot highlight pure white.

We did the Rogue One crew but overdid the supports. Going to redo them so here's hoping. I got a fantastic bear printed for beast boy, another portal and the boy's undead efforts seemed to work well too.

Thanks matey. Eye glow needs a lot more work, I agree. We're going to do the blasts again in trans blue, along wit the portals.

Yeah, but just with water. Washable eco resin is great
Okay I'm happier now with the big fella.
Thanks for input gang.
Finishing up the holidays (well, my holidays) with a GREAT game of Imperial Assault
They had to break into a disused facility and then escape under fire. They narrowly made it into a secret tunnel, scoring a partial victory but next mission is now getting back through a forest crawling with Imps and AT-STs to their transport. I really think, on a related note, that I'm going to offload Gloomhaven. Life's too short to play games I'm not invested in, and I can exchange for an unplayed copy for Heart of the Empire (Coruscant expansion) with a mate who feels similarly about IA. Equally, I not only pre-ordered the new Dreadball expansion but threw in an Orc Smasha great ship and I've not even tried Armada yet
Painted up the Reaper Carnosaur as Beast Boy
Rawr! Ama dine-saw!
Got my favourite new KM sculpt done I love Jason Todd. It's the mark of a truly great writer (Scott Lobdell) to make me love a character I've hated every previous incarnation of.
The crowbar was missing it's tip, so I just gsd it.
Scale shot, ready for Titans S3!
And finally, back to virtual work tomorrow, so had to make the view behind my desk more professional.
Job done, right? Hey ho

Thanks for sharing the marble recipe! I got a bunch of fun terrain this holiday that I have to paint up, and it will be fun to experiment with marble effects. Dino fierce and Todd looks dangerous.
RIP Gloomhaven, never got a chance to try it myself. The card-based combat sounded neat, but what doesn't grab ya doesn't grab ya. Glad you're able to make a clean trade of it for more IA goodness.

funny fella. Many thanks. Yeah, my colleagues were pleased by it
Right, so, it definitely seems that the theme of what I'm doing for the current dakka contest (New Tricks) is terrain.
Again, not quite finished, but nearly. New things here - 3D prints, and first time combining unpainted and painted elements in a finished piece. Osl still needs a bit more highlighting.
Because of issues with the prints, I'm also resculpting sections rather than binning them. I never, ever sculpt in milliput, so this is also a first. And with the statue, that'll be my 5 things Speaking of terrain, I built the Reaper Astrolabe/Orrery/World Engine.
It's pretty big. How big is it?
Well that's a 60mm base Giant Robot Hellboy's on
On the matter of Hellboy, got my visitor bust painted up
Print painted up rather well, I think.
And did a fresh T3-M4 droid after we broke the last one Didn't paint over the lens, just white dotted, allowed the clear blue to show through. Think the droid itself needs a little brown in the mix, even though it's pretty true to the colours it "should" be in.
Ended up finishing up the pylons and tidying up the portals.
Really happy with the gates. Pylons are... Ok, considering. A decent save. As well as the Harvesters that came the other day, the Guardian of Targa (xl epic boss) came today as well, so that's built and ready to ... surprise them on their otherworld adventures Had a crazy follow up game with the boys, escaping from the Empire
They did very well, focusing on the mission objectives and not getting distracted. Next, off on a secret mission to Coruscant (shhhhh!) - and then, the finale! Maybe. If I don't force (ahem) another mission on them Till then

Cheers chief. And I don't disagree, the Pylons are a bit ropey, granted.
Don Qui Hotep wrote:Nice work on the portals and pylons, the portals are sufficiently glowy and mystical.
Why thanks kindly!
So what's next?
Painted up Kaya the Bouncer from Supers Unlimited as DC's Terra:
Always been a fan of the character, and Kitbash games very kindly gave me her as a freebie (missed her in the first KS, inexplicably).
Also, I weathered the T3 droid.
Much happier, much more of that lived-in universe vibe. The odd thing next to it is a terminal - yes, I know, it doesn't look like much, but it holds the terminal tokens for IA (which flip in game). I mean, if you want a PROPER terminal:
Comms terminal objective. Nice wee print.
The printer now has the blast effects going, in trans blue this time. Then, the next batch is a mixed bag: couple of remora drones, Oni with naginata, different portals, and a pumpkin (test, for a Shadows scenario). After that, I've got 2 sets of Star wars prints sliced up: a set of doors and more terminals (dull, but necessary) and a mixed bag of evil: Jabba, Salacious Crumb, Krennik, Dr Aphra, and impressively grumpy looking KTS0. Need to get some AI scenery done after that. I've also found some excellent serpentine types I quite fancy printing up. Down the rabbit hole On we go!
Graven
Seeing those two pictures of the T3 droid brought a smile to my face, it really brings me back to when I played Knights of the Old Republic Nice figures and painting all around, but along with the T3, the shot of the Star Wars game was my favorite to see, that AT-ST looks so dominant on the board.
So much to read up on. Others are contemplating what they will do this year and you just jump in Love the portals, really cool sculpts and the green/grey color scheme fits really well.
Theophony wrote:Your getting pretty good results with the printer already . Even the "bad" prints you have been able to fix and reuse.
Terra/Kaya is looking good.
Cheers sunshine! Well, not all of them. I'm really struggling to get this oni with naginata printed successfully. I've now got the body and one arm done on 3rd attempt, 4th attempt at naginata in right now and today's big print went HORRIBLY wrong because one of the kids banged into the hot water tank cupboard (which the printer sits on top of) and so Aphra, K2 and the door went wonky. Jabba's survived (so big no squint) and I *think* Salacious Crumb and Krennic will be salvageable. OTOH, I printed a cople of remoras and one is missing one engine outlet so I've just GSd that. Equally, I accidentally printed a couple of extremely tiny AI ships. So it's give and take

Yeah, the kids have discovered KOTR on their tabs, they love it. Takes me back lol. It was a really good game, we're very close to finishing the campaign now (2 or potentially 3 games, if I pull some nasty Imperial influence tricks )

Thanks the real danger is making rather than painting, won't end well
Another day, another narrow escape:
Good game, breaking into an Imperial facility on Coruscant. They did well, but now they've got to escape through a Stormtrooper barracks
Some hits and misses with the prints but I'm particularly happy with the pumpkins:
Punk and pumpkins, sounds like a win I have managed, at last, to get to Oni printed, along with Krennic, the Hoth-themed Imperial officer, 3 more doors and terminals, and the bases for Atrocitus and Mera (though I promptly knocked Mera over, shattering her - so need to reprint her). Next plan is Aeronautica, I think, and if I can find it again a Morrigan, sexy female demon with bat-winged helm, to be the Red Lantern Bleez.
Starting online teaching today, going to be... interesting.

That's great, I'm glad your kids are enjoying it, it is a really good game. That's exciting that you are getting that close to finishing the campaign. In the latest game that is an intimidating amount of imperial forces (which makes sense if they are running through the barracks)

Actually, this is them breaking IN to the research facility - which they won, but I've used my influence to make them have to escape through the barracks as a forced mission rather than getting away and going straight to the finale. Mwahahahahahaha...

Pile of weird (wyvern?) Bones Reaper calendar really is the gift that just keeps giving. Some Sci-Fi fun from it: RK-M and SK-M, mini bots. Cute AND murderous. Martian, who I'll need to print a dome helmet for as he's a bit big for Mantic ones. Painted up as a staffer for my Martian team, with extra-large goggles GSd on. I think I'll call him Statto And space lizard, perfect Klegg for Judge Dredd. Slicey Dicey! Plus, a classic Warlord metal Dredd fig, on that subject. Kenny Who? Radge wee CalHab bugger, only man to beat Judge Dredd (at least, that's the way he tells it). Questionable tartan trews! I've dug out a dozen zombies to surprise the kids with in Shadows of Brimstone mostly mantic with a couple of zombicide and reaper ones that I had floating about (need to get paint on the Reaper one - it may in fact be a ghoul, but hey). Let's combine printing and star wars, shall we?
So all in all I'm rather pleased
More prints you say? Ok:
Krennic, Bodi, K2S0, Maul, Cassian, Elite officer and Ahsoka. Let's hope they paint up okay!
Couple of thunderbolts, one to orkify and one to crash in a crater.
And for Hellboy:
Finally! An oni with naginata! If you've not seen Storm and Steel, one of the animated prequels to the Del Toro movies (and straight out of the comics), it's excellent; the Oni sculpt in game is ideal for Thunder but finding Lightning has been impossible up into now - and given that Oni can turn up in pairs, it made perfect sense to get another!
I started building my Armada stuff.
Shiny. Lovely casts.
Going to crack on. I'm not thinking about numbers though Graven

This lovely lady is painted up as Mad Hettie, the 250 year old witch from Sandman and Hellblazer. Dreadful photo Speaking of DC... Thomas Wayne, the Batman of Earth-2 where Bruce dies and Martha goes insane, becoming the Joker. And Bane the Bat. Finally! This has been sitting threateningly on my shelf unpainted for aaaaaages. I added spare deathstroke and deadshot masks to base also, to add some spot colour variations. Do enjoy a bit of cape work Another display figure to check off the list!
Couple of extra oddments. More terminal mounts. My usual self-imposed rule is 2 tokens = 1 "figure". I'll grudgingly call these 4 one painted thing. Doors! I wanted these done as one of middle creature's home learning tasks is to play a board game with family today. Shucks. What a challenge. 4 are home printed, 1 is mantic (star saga). Had fun with scorch marks and scratches the post-it note says "Shut" in Aurabesh, because why not eh? by normal token rules, that's 2 1/2 models, but I'll round down as they weren't exactly a lot of work
Having successfully parted ways with all my HP (to a mate, who'd forgotten his wife's birthday tomorrow ), I briefly looked at the CMON Teen Titans game, but $50 for the basic game plus shipping and VAT, maybe delivered at the end of the year? Nah. I have Teen Titans minis and I can write a better game by November, I'll wager (the gameplay looks... just dull, dull, dull). Plus, I can invest that in more Shadows and IA. I think focusing on games we all enjoy is the way forward, it would be dangerous to invest (for example) too heavily in Armada at this stage, even though I'm likely to want to add at least an Abbess (giant human ship) to my fleet, just so the two fleets exactly match.
I am trying not to think about the fact that I've managed to average a mini a day, and we're only halfway through the month. I'm enjoying just hopping from one thing to another. Ah, hobby ADHD! What's next? Well, I've got a couple more things hand primed - promo Red Hood Joker, final Dreadball MVP, and Donnie the businessman promo from Street Wars NYC (I think I'll do him... peach - although the kids are hassling me to get the AT-DP for IA done (and @briancj will be happy with triple walker threat ) Unprimed, there's some Strontium Dog figs, Reaper oddities, printed Star Wars and DC stuff, Tau for AI - if there's anything you fancy seeing, lmk Adios, Graven

Thanks muchly! It's an interesting diversion to paint very random things.
Anyway, speaking of Joker...
Red Hood Joker, 3rd Ed promo, with kitbash base.
I think he's looking... ACE Got another great game of Shadows played today, culminating in a huge fight in a cryo chamber:
Definitely the closest we've come to losing since our first game. Swarms of void spiders, an alien Harvester, and this mighty confrontation at the end. Brutal, very narrowly survived (and even then heavily corrupted) and used up a lot of gear in the process. Good stuff!
Didn't mention that in the boys' escape from Coruscant yesterday, they managed to get Leia killed Well, KO'd. So before the campaign finale they need to go rescue the captive princess first. Shucks. Pesky Bounty Hunters have got her, and are demanding a high price from the Empire for their prize.
Momentary mild weather meant I also got a whole lot of priming done yesterday, star wars and Dreadball mostly. Looking forward to cracking on!

And of course, he needs a young Jedi to turn to the Dark Side.
This was a stressful paint, but in the end, rather pleased... Until I look at the gallery pic. It is maddening that the figure looks great in RL and I zoom in the gallery and... Ugh. Just looks AWFUL. Fat brush strokes and lazy OSL Anyway, continuing the "I have primes everything black" theme...

Elite Riot Troopers - using the clone wars colour scheme, mostly.
Droid Troopers. They're chunky.
And what would Mando Monday be without Dark Troopers? Anyway, still plenty of Star Wars still to do. Ahsoka arrived today Also got my psycho robot ref team finished for Dreadball

Cheers man, it's really just extrapolating from versions in other media. Dan (older boy) had a lot of input, and was very insistent on the use of grey, which I think really complements the red and white.
Yeah, the Giant Pumpkin was done on the printer. I had to take it down to fitting on a 60mm base rather than a 90mm (so an XL boss rather than XXL) simply because of the size of my printer bed. The throwing pumpkins were printed separately then attached, along with a 3rd one as a marker for their first encounter with corrupted vegetables
Guess my post with my guess got eaten by the inter webs. Cool looking battle, it’s always good to almost lose, you still get a bit of learning in, but you still win.

Boiling water is the solution, need to get on that and thanks! I've been revisiting a lot of acoustic-y Americana/rock, John Mellencamp, Foos, that sort of thing.
Pottering along. The announcement that FW is doing the tau drones finally means...
Yup. A bit of AI! Need to get more game on, but time and life. Still, this means we're really optimised for playing whatever we fancy. I did the drones with Nihilakh over Nuln Oil, to try to get a sort-of stealth effect, which I'm a bit meh on, but still. On the other hand, so many layers of white on the dome of Ground Asset... You'd think I'd be sick of that after stormtroopers.
I've also added Tau pads to the AI bases for a bit o' fishy fun. The drones are printed, but they're the official ground assets. If I want more drones, it's easy enough to print more - it's a very good STL (unlike the marauder ones :/) I really like the ground assets (although £22 for the 3 is obscene) as you can remove the turrets and use them as emplacements. The drones are likely to be £16 for 2... Not happening.
Got an amazing supply drop from endtransmission
Work is very busy - I mean I appreciate you wouldn't necessarily know it from my output but it is. The difference is I'm marking early in the day and "live" so I have more time in the evening to unwind and paint, which is good.

Those are some really cool monsters, although it looks like you had to do some sculpting to fill some gaps? Your Imperial Assault stuff looks grand, I especially like the Riot Troopers.
Sorry about the loss of the cat, hugs and hobby vibes. Glad you were able to get some games in with the family to bring in some cheer.

To add insult to injury, hand is bothering me again. It's working from home at a less than ergonomic desk/chair. Buggeration. Can see it in my painting. A fairly quick and dirty paint job on these three, but why does it matter? Well apart from Tycho (penny arcade Xtreme promo), which I don't own, that's EVERYTHING painted: every team (35 teams, captains for all, coaches and countless star players, trophies, giant... The lot pretty chuffed with that I have achieved further nerdvana by getting a Shadows of Brimstone Minecart pledge from a mate. As I didn't want the two core games or their minis (thanks endtransmission ), I've scored all the expansions (and... there's a lot) for £135, which is an absolute bargain. £500+ retail, certainly. Only a couple of the large expansions are boxed, but such is the peril of Kickstarter. I'm going to try to exercise self-control however (lying...) by sticking the boxed stuff into the loft, and keeping it till June (father's day / my birthday). That still leaves 2 otherworlds (Derelict Ship and Blasted Wastes), 3 mission packs and all the extra monsters and heroes, never mind the two base games. We've got enough content to last us till then regardless... right?
Slinky wrote:Wow, excellent haul there for SoB stuff, it's always painful paying retail when you've missed out on a KS

A busy couple of work days, but wife had a day off which alleviated things somewhat with tiny. Having running out of other unprimed figs, decided to finally tackle display Superman, and a not-so super man (barely even a man, really).
So, Superman has a stylised Whoosh.
Not sure about it. Hard to paint.
Looks a bit like toothpaste. Enjoyed doing the Daily Planet though.
As you may have noticed, I went for a WW84 Max Lord scheme for him
Don't think he'll be grabbing her by the pussy.
Also meant I had time to build the Burrower, one of the Shadows XXL figs
Have you a minute to talk about our lord and saviour Shai-hulud?!
He's a big bugger - even bigger than the 90mm base he's supposed to go on
Anyway, I've run out of primed figs, as I say. So, I think it'll be resin prints I'd hand-prime regardless next.
Till then,

It's ok. Not as much brush control as I'd like though.
I added GS hair because (a) the one in the movie has hair and (b) the back of the left shoulder had printed completely flat for some reason and I hadn't realised

Artisan's guild. Lovely sculpts, well-supported. This is possibly a better thunder god than the Mantic one tbh... Raijin and Fujin here we come
I also hand primed a bunch of other SW prints, and started basing SoB stuff - lots of sprue shredding for rubble and Mine rails.
More paint to come, mayyyyybeee,

Flat parts (especially if they are parallel to the printing angle) on prints generally mean a support failed to hold the overhanging area in place, thus it sticking flat to the FEP film until picked up when it reaches a layer joined to the rest of the model. This can happen for all sorts of reasons, such as the lift speed/peel force, the model's place on the plate or just not enough support in the first place.
Incidentally, what brand of resin are you using? I'm having good luck with Elegoo's water washable grey, it's a tad more expensive but saves a ton on IPA, and the prints still come put nice and sharp.
Paints look good, even with the hand playing up. Best of luck with that, hopefully it passes soon.

Maul is red with black tats. Dathomirians are red, orange or yellow, usually (his brother is yellow, in fact). Other Zabrak have more "normal" skin tones, but the Dark Side energies they are exposed to on Dathomir warp them at a genetic level. Thanks, internet!

Continuing my Star Wars kick with 2 of my 3 custom Elite Alliance Rangers:
Chirrut and Baze make pretty decent proxies for models that you can't get for love or money.
Might tidy Chirrut's base a bit.
That just leaves Cassian as my other ranger. I don't have a Jyn stl and I'm loathe to pay money lol, but down the line I'll probably print her and/or reprint Bodi (print was a mess up close) to be an Elite Alliance Smuggler. So we reached the end of our current Shadows of Brimstone campaign:
Tremors vibe kids got cocky so I threw in an extra epic threat

Lol. LOVE me some Bacon yeah, and more surprising is how solid the print is. Need to Bodi. he'll be part of the next figure print. I've found some great sw alien rebels I want to do as my regular rangers, and he's ideal, as I've said, for an elite smuggler. Right now I've got a whole mess of tentacles on the go, including a dark young of Shub Niggurath. Base scatter for sob printed brilliantly, so that's all getting accessorised too.
Speaking of prints... Couple of rogue ones... Final elite ranger and an elite Merc Assassin droid, I think.
