Thanks! Jet pack, these ones, you can just about make them out in the second pic, above.

WICKEDNESS And thanks! In fact, finished up the stuff from rogue trader. They look best as a horde. They're all going to get shuffled in with my plaguebearers for variety, because Papa is many and varied in his blessings. I know the Glitchlings (or whatever they're called) look slightly ridiculous on 32mm bases but hey, it's not the size of virus that matters, right? My AoS case is dangerously full now but 2500 points, portable, is pretty neat.
What's left on the desk? Well, rel-a-t-ive-ly little, at least until I start the Reaper Advent calendar tomorrow (yay!): there's currently Batman stuff - not much - and a lot of Imperial assault. If I want to try to crack 900 then batch painting stormtroopers may be in order We played another campaign mission, as is our want at the weekend. They did... Ok. It was a break in and steal data mission. I was cruel and hit them with veteran stormtroopers. Amusingly, the wookie got the strength test objective - visions of him smashing a terminal till it magically worked! And the jedi the insight test one, so in that sense they got lucky. This meant 2 out of 3 terminals activated, but they dithered at the start and didn't take risks so only achieved a partial victory (didn't even get close to the third bunker) having a run-in with an experimental AT-ST and needing a daring fly-by lift out from their pick-up pilot. Crucially, to them it didn't feel like a loss, and their next full mission is tracking down Han Solo so they're excited about that... Might mess with them a bit and use my Influence to give them a tricky side mission I mean it's never as easy as just finding the character, is it? And hey, they know that from Mando There are bounty hunters after them now, as it happens... This is the way, Graven

Brute force terminal use, partial victory at the cost of near disaster, and now having to track down someone with with plot armor to face the Empire directly ... Sounds like they're getting the full Rebel experience, that must be some excellent game design!
Jokes aside, this IA stuff does sound really fun actually, and a good intro to more narrative gaming, almost an RPG-lite,perhaps, with the consistent progression and GM role? Incidentally. there's a great Star Wars conversion for DnD 5e out there if you ever wanted to lean even more into that, though it might be a little too complex for the kids.
That Nurgle army looks real impressive all together, great stuff.

Just for the fun of the thing, really. Reaper have some good random stuff so I'm just intrigued.

They'll be a nice addition to the carnage my boy enacts upon me lol.
On an exciting note, I painted up the last two figures for Bane's Soldiers of Fortune, Infiltrator Ops and Malicia.
Infiltrator was done using the same military green/black combos as I used for the Mutant Militia, whilst Malicia was done with thin blacks and grey highlights, plus Livery Green for the Venom detailing.
KM have had a huge overhaul and have reached out again. Fingers crossed for more goodies (and baddies) but not going to hold my breath.
Starting December as I mean to go on: batch painting Stormtroopers. It's VERY dull, but working away on basic washes whilst catching up on Discovery is a good thing. Painting Wars whilst watching Trek feels wrong, somehow
And on the subject of the advent calendar: today we had a bag lady with a slightly cthulhoid shopping trolley.
Great for a Mad Hettie (DC/Vertigo character) or any old random, really. What I hadn't appreciated was that this a custom thing done by Mighty Lancer games in the UK alongside Reaper and every one is different. Extra exciting. Beer from Beer advent for scale. Tis the season!

Brief beer-loving digression
Spoiler:
I was very lucky that the small town I grew up in had one of oldest pubs in Britain at the end of our street and a five minute walk in either direction took you to two other local brewery pubs. Being a Man of Kent (and not a Kentish Man) I could reasonably be swayed by Harvey's beers (West Kent, where I'm from, borders East Sussex, whence Harvey's - the ancient pub's brewery - hails), but tbh I'm more of a Kentish Man (East Kent) in my beer tastes - Shepherd Neame, the great Faversham brewery, Kent's finest beer. Partial to Martston's (London, local pub #3), but I also like British beers from Wychwood and lots of smaller brewers, and I'm very fond of continental lager such as Heverlee also (what my wife refers to as "holiday beer", to be drunk in hot weather by a pool). However, my time in Scotland (i.e. my adult life) has drawn me into drinking a lot more Scottish beers, and I do like Brewdog, from Ellon near Aberdeen, even if they can be a bit... gimmicky at times. Glasgow's Drygate and Alloa's Williams Bros are other firm favourites. And then there's the home brew

IPAs are over-produced and over-rated in the USA. An unpleasant trendy fad. Meh. OTOH, the English beers available here are not so good. I suspect that it is a case of the English drinking up the good stuff and exporting the mediocre stuff, which is what we do here in the USA. That swill from America you chaps see is not even good enough to feed to hogs. ( the literal definition of Swill.)

Hops can hide a multitude of sins. It's interesting to me as Kent is the heart of hop growing in the UK, so the beers are traditionally hoppier than other English ales. I did have excellent Pale Ale many years ago when I greyhounded round north America at the Vancouver Island brewery.
Mayfair? Funnily enough I made chow mein last night though I'm not a hairy handed gent
Well, a quiet couple of days, little one has been poorly, and wife and I a bit under the weather as well - not Covid (tested to be sure), just a bug, but pukey kid means no sleep for any of us, really. Tis the season, I suppose.
Updates on the beer and reaper calendars:
Lovely, strong, unfiltered beer that I'm very partial to (got a couple of cans in the back fridge, in fact) and a cracking wee bat that's going to be painted bright green for beast boy. I did say (maybe just to myself) that what I was really hoping for from this was some Reaper animals (for to paint green) and maybe a male Tiefling (for Blue Devil). I'm particularly thrilled as it is a totally random assortment you get - no two calendars are the same. It's fun to see what other folk are getting over on the Mighty Lancer Games fb, obviously there's some duplication and an idea of what else is out there, but they've gone out of their way to use a really diverse array of figs, albeit mostly fantasy but then that's Reaper.
Not sold on this beer at all as a concept, I suspect herself will swipe it. There's always a couple of crazy beers that don't appeal to me that she ends up with - e.g. Lembic fruit beers are, in my opinion, Satan's armpit secretions but she quite likes them. So this "quirky" beer is all hers. However, the pile of baby dragon bones is just amazing for fantasy battlefield scatter - as the boy pointed out, what a great deadly or mystical terrain marker for AoS. I'm sure I'll get something fig wise I don't like at some point - a chibi, knowing my luck (not a fan of chibi/kawaii aesthetic) - but still, it's a lot of fun.
The beers were otherwise tasty and this pleases me

Frosty actually here, rather than snow, but still.

For advent today, a tiny kobold to defend large beer (no doubt from thieving Halflings!)
I really like Cloudwater Vs Brewdog IPA - although it's LETHAL - and it definitely combines the best of both brewing traditions.
Had an excellent game of IA with the boys. I used influence to change the mission, so they were off to upload a virus to an Imperial facility.
They were ambushed. And then, glory of glories...
It's a trap! open fire! Just perfect.
They learned from past mistakes, however, and whilst almost everyone was seriously wounded, the wookie sprinted to the terminal and uploaded the virus meaning they just managed to escape. Good times! Off to find captain Solo next.

I would imagine only the larger companies export, so you never see the microbrewery stuff make it past the local pubs. The biggest horror I had going to Canada was the bar near the hotel selling "Premium import cider" at about £13 a pint... it was Strongbow, a cheap mass produced chemical abomination. Mind you this place also sold Traditional Irish Curry. I have absolutely no idea what that would have been. I dread to think!
anyway, the Imperial Assault figures seem to be coming along very nicely indeed!
IA has the advantage of being a 'closed' game, so there's no more things to endlessly purchase.

Oh, I have experienced similar horror of alleged "premium" imported ales, it's so depressing! Microbrewed stuff often doesn't travel well. We are very, very spoiled in Glasgow, though. And thanks! I am actually adding bits and bobs to other figs here and there, as I hadn't fully appreciated the need to distinguish Elite villains from regulars - so you might notice that the officer now has a red cap badge and stripe on his blaster, for instance, and I've painted in the face plates of a couple of Royal guard black (a bit like the Champion).

Glad to be of service we spent my 40th a couple of years back in a Brewdog pub trying all the strangeness. My wife had bought me shares so we got discount also. It was... messy.
Gwyn chan 'r Gwyll wrote:IA seems like a really fun game, maybe I'll keep my eyes open for it. I appreciate your mini play reports!
It is! And because the game has "finished" (no new expansions) folk are often offloading collections (baffling to me, but there we are) - we got the core set (RRP £80), the first four full expansions (£40-60 each), all the wave 1,2 and 5 boosters (£15 each) and a few extras for £120. The app gives it added longevity, as it takes on the role of the Imperial Plyer/Narrator, so there's more of a mystery element plus of course, solo play.

On the other hand, there is a LOT of stuff.
So what with #mandomonday and all, here's the next batch of Stormtroopers:
And individually
Jet Troopers in Rebels colours
Heavy Stormtroopers. I'm pretty happy with how they all came together in the end.
On to advent matters. Today, a frosty Barbarian archer and a "light" beer.
This annoys me: Light is a style of ale, not a faddish low-cal thing. I suspect this is to be drunk cold and disposed of. I had the Cloudwater and it was indeed excellent, along with an Irish Red ale (meh, red ales should have a rich depth of flavour - this was just... meh) and an IPA so forgettable I can't even think of the name. The Barbarian, on the other hand, is another great model, very Frostgrave (not that I play it) - but I just really like these characterful wee fantasy figs. I strongly, strongly suspect I'm going to let the kids paint the majority of them (although the wife REALLY like the Halfling adventurer from the other day ) as a xmas project. Mad Hettie (Day 1) is still the absolute winner so far, though the bone pile is up there.
Am taking part in the Gaslands Secret Santa. I haven't Gasland-ed in ages, but I thought it would be nice to put together a box of cool cars and bits for someone. So many folk are stuck in the house unable to get good toys, I thought rather than making something I'll do a glory box. Does that sound reasonable, or should I make something instead?
Merrily we roll along,
