The swoosh looks great!

For some of the larger SoB monsters I didn't bother basing them as it just got in the way during games; didnt need one, like the acid blobs in FoFo... or they just didn't fit one one, like that worm or the sand kraken

Well quite, I feel the same I really want to get painting my Brimstone stuff but the weather continues to be uncooperative, at least for priming purposes.

That's very advice, sand kraken is next on my build list. Cheers. Any advice on storage? I'm thinking just some regular figure cases, but with the slightly taller slots.

Got a fig I've been meaning to do for ages done: Mep, from Kitbash Games.

I am seriously delighted with my Mep the Space Monkey, who's going to be my first Hellboy Rpg character I reckon!

Had a vast, meandering game of Brimstone.

When I first got this game, a friend warned me that NO-ONE owns a table big enough to play it. He's not far off wrong... good fun, tense and ended very badly - now we're stuck in another Otherworld. Fun times ahead!
Till next time

Well, till the new stuff comes out in Feb and thanks! Yeah, I reckon I need a chest JUST for SoB
Hand is really bugging me so haven't painted in days not clenching up unusably, but still very sore around the thumb, ring finger and wrist - familiar tell-tale signs, and not going to risk it. As if was proof was needed, I did paint the storm oni:

It's ok. Not as much brush control as I'd like though.

I added GS hair because (a) the one in the movie has hair and (b) the back of the left shoulder had printed completely flat for some reason and I hadn't realised

Also painted K2S0, as I feel his general sense of ennui

*sigh*

Over the weekend, a mahoosive game of SoB with the kids...

We just survived this on a mix of dumb luck and explosives but it's so big we're doing it as a two-parter, with the finale... tomorrow, maybe?

And I printed an Akuma for Joe (small boy) as part of his Japan project for school.

Artisan's guild. Lovely sculpts, well-supported. This is possibly a better thunder god than the Mantic one tbh... Raijin and Fujin here we come

I also hand primed a bunch of other SW prints, and started basing SoB stuff - lots of sprue shredding for rubble and Mine rails.
More paint to come, mayyyyybeee,
Graven

Flat parts (especially if they are parallel to the printing angle) on prints generally mean a support failed to hold the overhanging area in place, thus it sticking flat to the FEP film until picked up when it reaches a layer joined to the rest of the model. This can happen for all sorts of reasons, such as the lift speed/peel force, the model's place on the plate or just not enough support in the first place.

Incidentally, what brand of resin are you using? I'm having good luck with Elegoo's water washable grey, it's a tad more expensive but saves a ton on IPA, and the prints still come put nice and sharp.

Paints look good, even with the hand playing up. Best of luck with that, hopefully it passes soon.

Spot on. A friend who is a senior judge sent me a pic with the comment, "I see you're a card now." Anyway, all my money is like to go on SoB

I was really confused for a second. I thought someone actually made a card of you, or that somehow you had made a card for MtG. Or, I don't know what I thought. But it was weird in my head for a minute. Even weirder than usual. And that's really weird.
Still not positive that you didn't somehow have a card made. There's enough mystery surronding you that I wouldn't be surprised.

I am indeed using that resin, it's very good. I like the clear blue also, although it's a little brittle, as it's the least fumey I've found so far. I've yet to have to replace my FEP - oh, the fear...

Thanks on all counts. Weird is good. I did quite deliberately channel Marvin in the heading I do feel that they're cut from the same cloth - depressed, overqualified and all too self-aware. Slightly sacrilegiously, I rather like the HHGttG movie, despite growing up with the books and radio series.

Lol it culminated in a surprisingly ok boss battle, but we are all hobbling about on almost no health or san with multiple mutations. Also, my Sexy Cowgirl sidekick is now Undead, but hey, I'm not picky

I started on Maul today... And got carried away.

Man, those tattoos were a beast.

And started work on Chirrut and Baze.

So that'll be the pool of this month's stuff for the Monthly Painting contest, "Showing Off". All flashy lightsabers and showy guardians (they are TOTAL show-offs )

Feeling more upbeat - managing to (sorta) freehand will do that

I love how KS20 turned out, although like JazzyJeff I was picturing Marvin. XD I like Sword of Storms a lot, it's great how faithful they were to some of the comics. The lightning Oni turned out really scary, the hair looks good, covers his "birthmark" quite well.

Maul is red with black tats. Dathomirians are red, orange or yellow, usually (his brother is yellow, in fact). Other Zabrak have more "normal" skin tones, but the Dark Side energies they are exposed to on Dathomir warp them at a genetic level. Thanks, internet!

:fired:

Continuing my Star Wars kick with 2 of my 3 custom Elite Alliance Rangers:

Chirrut and Baze make pretty decent proxies for models that you can't get for love or money.

Might tidy Chirrut's base a bit.

That just leaves Cassian as my other ranger. I don't have a Jyn stl and I'm loathe to pay money lol, but down the line I'll probably print her and/or reprint Bodi (print was a mess up close) to be an Elite Alliance Smuggler. I've also got Krennic and a Hoth-themed Imperial officer to do as Elite Imperial Officers.

So we reached the end of our current Shadows of Brimstone campaign:

Tremors vibe kids got cocky so I threw in an extra epic threat

My lovely KR cases arrived, and got all of my 2 SoB core sets (bar the XLs), plus a lot of extras, into 1 case:

This is VERY satisfying Other case will be (mostly) expansion stuff.

Feeling pretty chirpy. We're approaching the Feb Weekend (off Fri-Tues), little miss has her 5th (!) birthday on Monday (wonder woman theme, that's my... gal ) so busy but relaxing days ahead with the fam.

He turned out ok, I think. Party should be jolly, it's really just another normal day under lockdown though, alas.
Don Qui Hotep wrote:Is Tremors a perfect movie? Science says: yes. Eminently quotable. Chirrut's got a nice staff there, does he ever go pole-vaulting?

Lol. LOVE me some Bacon yeah, and more surprising is how solid the print is. Need to Bodi. he'll be part of the next figure print. I've found some great sw alien rebels I want to do as my regular rangers, and he's ideal, as I've said, for an elite smuggler. Right now I've got a whole mess of tentacles on the go, including a dark young of Shub Niggurath. Base scatter for sob printed brilliantly, so that's all getting accessorised too.

Speaking of prints... Couple of rogue ones...
Final elite ranger and an elite Merc Assassin droid, I think.

Boys and I had penultimate game of IA campaign today. Narrowly saved Leia from Dengar (eldest boy's fave bounty Hunter)

This was immediately before getting jumped by elite veteran snowtroopers. For once they were properly scared of bucketheads Good times, and good to play a bit of IA for variety.
Next step, well, I need to keep building SoB, though the ongoing freeze means I can't get them painted. Lost Army, Void Sorcerers, Void Hounds, mutant outlaws built. Still lots to go, though. Should keep me busy

Cosy. Snug as a bug in a host.

Well, it's been a super Saturday. We've been working on the girl's cake (woo!) and watching the new X-Men movies (boo...)
AND I managed to get a couple of 3D prints done.

Movie Cyborg. Painted up better than I expected tbh.

There's precious few reference pics of this dude from the back, so I... extrapolated.
And if anything, even more pleased with this

Mera, from Rage of the Red Lanterns. The Blood Tide, rage of the poisoned, plundered seas.

I wasn't sure how it would work painting the trans blue but, all in all, Fri pleased.
