you have this wrong you can field as elites if your carnifex cost less than 115pts (if thats the right number) the games points dont make a difference.

also the -rant suffix signifies hive tyrants

the -fex suffix represents carnifexes (or carnifexi w/e)

Shock Troops says in games of 1500 points or more you ..... So you can take Fexes as elites in games of 1500 points or more.

Yeah, I misread 'rants as 'fexes. My bad on the confusion.

edit: bleh, misread the post

Anyway, I'm pretty psyched about new models and for better rules for the lictor (I really like the models)

..you know the guard codex....

..you know the orders.....

...
"if the order is successfully issued, choose one enemy vehicle (or squandron of vehicles) or monstrous creature (or unit of monstrous creatures) visible to the officer. The ordered unit immediately shoots at the nominated target, counting their weapons as twin-linked.

..hmm... are there any units of MCs in the game otherwise...?

BTW reds8n, nice call on the lictor/zoey hybrid. And here we all assumed that hint meant a Malanthrope.

Hive tyrant with tyrant guard

Tyrant guards are not MCs, they are infantry with a special rule that allows them to be a retinue to the tyrant. And GW is expectedly vague on what happens with unittypes when a unit contains models of several different types. But yeah, I'd let the IG order affect my units with TGs and HTs in.

Well we never know what GW will do. Even if he were thinking about broods of carnifexes when he wrote codex IG, there is no way of knowing if they he kept them. I mean IG were originally going to have a couple of features that he threw out in play testing. Same could happen for Nid.

Rippers aren't really part of a vanguard swarm. That list may have some trouble against mech anything. looks fun though.

Oh yes, I quite like the dakkatyrant/boomfex spam at 500/750.

my 750 list is undefeated as of yet

I mean, they will, right?

Of course they will - with new Special Characters!

Yay...?

Codex: Carnifex Kingdoms, coming soon to a GW retailer near you...

Ok, and now everybody allocating wounds on 3 carnifexes with... 5 each one. Too much love for a codex

it would be realy cool because hive fleets are evolving all the time what if there was a unit that you could like build from cratch in the codex

The 3rd edition Tyranid codex was the closest you'll get to that.

If would be fluffy (but broken) if Nids could choose their upgrades just before set-up but after you know what you're up against. THAT would be evolution at its finest.

Not really, its not like you instantly convert. Tyranids are grown and bio-engineered based on collective memories of battles faced. So there would be a time delay between battles of development. It would make sense to have the biomorphs available to any Tyranid species though. Very happy fluff wise, and it would create a huge diversity between Tyranid armies for at least a little while.

Well folks, it's been a fun run, but I think we've sufficiently wandered off-topic, mostly in the wishlisting aspect.

There's another Tyranid thread open right now discussing the Malan-Pyro-Toxo-Misanthrope thing, so you can head there for all your Tyranid-y goodness, or start up some threads in 40k Discussions or 40k Proposed Rules.

Rarr!
