Every single other lord in that list is pure speculation, especially the Undying - no one has said anything about him, much less that he makes Immortals Troop. And I have not seen anyone even mention the Silent King and Harbinger of the Night, I have no idea why they're in that list. So you might want to edit that to Enfleshed + "at least one of the following from FoD"
We know there will be few. We don't know exactly which besides Enfleshed and probably Undying. Thats why I wrote every named Lord I remembered. I will edit if there will be about 60% which of them won't be in codex.
But I can assure you that Silent King won't make BA allies .
Accordingly to Tabitha rumours special character vs 2+ of course it is save.
I am waiting for fresh rumours.

What you think is appropriate and what GW does is not always compatible. I do think that a second wave won't take too much time to arrive, but I wouldn't bet on anything in the same year.

I think Ghost21 mentionned the Warriors to be 1st wave. Not sure, however. Tabitha also mentionned seeing plastic Wraith, so they are pretty much done!
I really hope for a fast 2nd wave...

There's a lot of things that may or may not be coming, which is why I'm dubious about two Necron waves this year... if the first one even happens. In addition the grey knights and tyranids are supposedly getting their second waves this year. Busy schedule to fit in a wave 2 so quickly for an army not named Dark Eldar.

I'm just recompiled my predictions for this year but allot of things just dont make sense. With all the rumours floating about there just isn't enough room left this year for all the rumoured releases.
May : Tomb Kings 100%
June : Dark Eldar 2nd Wave 100%
July : Fantasy Storm of Magic 100%
August : Necrons
September : Ogre Kingdoms
October : Sisters of Battle?
November : Knights of Bretonnia
December : Nothing as usual
Summer of Fliers (Wartorn Skies?), Tyranid Wave 2, GK 2nd wave with Inquisitorial forces, plastic Pathfinders and Vespids are rumoured release candidates for 2011, but where?
Bindi Baji: Necron September release/"Before October"
ghost21: Necron August release

I doubt this. At most we will see Necrons > Sisters > Bretts>Tau or Tau>Bretts (Tau and Bretts are only a possibility) by the end of this year but not OK.
Just IMO
Other rumors have been pointing to Necrons being later and GW possibly getting Sisters in November/December

I really hope they don't keep us waiting too long for a 2nd wave. I could see a second wave in January/Feb. I would doubt November as well.
Either way, The Necrons really need a solid release on their models, it would be a real shame if we had to wait for some of the best units, and it's not a functioning army.

Necrons (and sisters) will be like DE in terms of kits. Eldar and Tau are more like BA / wolves in terms of new stuff and BT, well they are getting some nice love too in an entirely different light.
But I think Necron players will not find themselves waiting forever to get most of the cool toys from their codex, and will be pleasantly surprised with some of the new stuff. There are some cool things now one has mentioned yet too.

I know, I would honestly put OK in November as Halloween is on the 31st of October but then what do we get in September?
Also with all the 2nd wave releases rumoured, summer of fliers etc there just isn't enough room left this year for all of that.
Only if GW made a huge release of GK 2nd wave, Tyranid 2nd wave and Summer of Fliers in the same month and that month would be July then I could see it all getting released this year, but if this happens I will melt down all my Sisters and sculpt a giant penis out of the pewter and shove it up my own arse whilst dancing around GW HQ singing "You spin me round right round...."

Well because the Nids have been near-completely unsupported by GW and Space Wolves don't need a 2nd wave?! Tabitha (who seems to be a very reliable source) says that they're more in line with Dark Eldar, who so far are near what's effectively their 3rd wave:

Nids are rumored to have their 2nd wave coming and the same goes for GK. Space Wolves are waiting on their thunderwolves. There's an expansion that may or may not come out and if hell freezes over there will actually be two more 40k armies out this year, one of which needs much more model support than the other. Unlike Dark Eldar, Necrons don't have the same retro-fanboy appeal.
From all looks getting a second wave so quickly seems unlikely, but a rumor poster commented to the contrary. That's good for us. But she did so after your comment, so I don't see why you brought that up while quoting me.

I supopse they could be made in Wraith pretty simply, might have to trim the tail length and put them n a smaller base though....
Depending on the size you might be able to use warrior heads on them instead, maby use plasticard or something to get the bigger Wraith shoulderpads.

Hmm, this means that there will be no fliers release this year as there is basically no place to put them in, unless they did it at the same time as the DE 2nd wave but from what I've read it is supposed to be big enough to warrant it's own release and I can't believe that if pretty much every army in 40k is supposed to get a flier.
For those that fail to understand, Murderous Skies and Wartorn Skies are NOT the same thing. Murderous Skies is what GW are calling the DE 2nd wave release, Summer of Fliers aka Wartorn Skies (was named this at FW Open Day) is rumoured to be a fliers expansion for 40k where they introduce the unit type Flier to the basic game of 40k. This rumour surfaced late last year and is said to include Tyranid Harpy, Imperial Thunderbolt Fighter, Ork Fightaboma, Tau Drones/Flier etc etc etc.
Basically every army in 40k is said to get a flier with the Valkyrie/Vendetta, Stormraven, Voidraven and Razorwing getting changed to Fliers as well.
Only place left this year to place this expansion would be together with the DE 2nd wave if it's happening at all.
ghost21, do you know if this expansion is happening at all of it the rumours of it getting split up into army releases when those get their next update?

Yes, this is what have been rumoured but that there would be quite a few kits for the initial release, releasing something like this and only have 1-2 kits would be pretty meh. Then again if they changed the rules for Valk, Storm and DEs to Fliers it could be plausible.

Getting a half sized release every 40k edition or getting a full sized release every two 40k editions results in about the same number of new miniatures, only release time spread differently.
Tabitha wrote:But I think Necron players will not find themselves waiting forever to get most of the cool toys from their codex, and will be pleasantly surprised with some of the new stuff. There are some cool things now one has mentioned yet too.
Every army since 2009 except Space Wolves got something like a flyer. It would surprise me if Necrons would not get one. Seems like a bigger plan behind these releases.

This would certainly deserve its own thread, IF there was more information. Otherwise it would derail into pointless wishlisting from post #2 onward. But if it has Space Hulk production quality, I would buy any boxed game.
Knowing GW, they will release the perfect introductory game ... in a release strictly limited to 500 boxes
And the GW managers will celebrate as a huge success, if the introductory game sells out within 3 hours

No. The Necron fleet has no attack craft at all. If it was me, I wouldn't give them an ordinary flier myself, instead going for something more like Mjolnir's first appearance on Stargate: SG1: a flier that hovers slowly and unmakes everything it can see.

There is a Necron picture by GW (I'm pretty sure) where you can see some Monoliths in the background and what appears to be some V shaped fliers around them. Not sure where it's from, think it was in a codex or a novel or something. Can't seem to find it but it has been posted in a summer of fliers thread somewhere, waarseer I think many months ago.
If anyone knows the picture please post a link to it.
As for Battleforce they will probably dumb it down to the following.
10 Warriors
5 Flayed Ones
3 Wraiths
1 Tomb Spyder or some other 1 model mini.

I think that would actually be a pretty good battleforce, but I would want at least one of each kind-the old one AND the new one. As such, I'll probably order an old one after work today. I decided I liked the Wraithwing, so I'd enjoy getting 3 wraiths in the box set. And seeing how a 3-box of them will probably be between $35-45 anyway...it'll still be a decent deal. Just not quite as good as the current one is.

Considering the Blood Angels (no apostrophe) didn't even have a battleforce, it's only an improvement. They'll probably take the battleforce off the menu until the second wave of minis for Necrons, so I'd recommend grabbing a battleforce now instead of waiting a year and a half.

The problem with that being if they do intend to add upgrades and such to the warriors, the ones you buy now won't have them...then you'll have to either go back and covert them, or buy even more warriors to get the upgrades. I have 60 warriors right now that I'm praying they don't do a bunch of upgrade options for.

Until we have more then rumours about what is and is not being changed and the like I find a battle force hard to want to get, too much of a gamble sure it will definitely be cheaper then the new battle force if recent trends are worth anything but it will have a chance at older models or older sprue's with less extras.

Its not a sure bet that the current battleforce is going to be good value for money.
Since we don't have a new codex yet we don't know for sure that the current edition boxset contents (warriors, destroyers and scarabs) won't totally suck. Or that there won't be a new "must have" unit (wraiths or flayed ones).
The only thing we know for sure is that the stats and point costs are sure likely to change after such a long time.
And there are rumours that destroyers are getting remodelled torsos and maybe warriors will get some additions to balance the price/value problem that GW may have with them so there's a chance of getting stuck with poor options or out-of-date models.
Also if they make an appearance in the 6ed starter box set (also a possibility) then that may also be a better value for money option.

I was thinking of getting one but not building it yet. That way if need be i can use the warriors as conversion fodder to make new immortals or flayed ones if the new models dont appear in the first wave.
and if it turns out to not be worth it i can always chuck it on ebay.

Yay! The way it was suggested in the book made it seem like a thing for Lords only, or in game terms very rare or something, would this be the case do you know?

I hate to break down hopes here, but since it did 'crumble to dust' this means that is was made Before the switch to Necrodermis, as everything after that was made out of the same stuff. However! We could instead look at is as potentially new types of vehicles being made that don't use the living metal or perhaps another Lord Did remember to craft one out of the 'dermis

I picture it as a chariot...with anti-grav tech. There was some old Necron conversions done a while back of a Lord seated on a hover throne, which was a seat mounted on a Destroyer chassis. Maybe I'll sketch up a few ideas if I get bored today.

With the recent trend of 'large skimmers' including storm ravens, valks and the razorwing/voidravens I think it will be of similar size (I know we have not seen the RW/VR but yeah) would be awesome if it can transport somehow maybe? I know the idea of warriors coming out a transport always seemed a bit silly but some sort of mechanism like maybe the monolith might be fun. I don't know just a few ideas I have.

I'd far rather we had the ability to open portals and phase through them, or use a Phasic Generator, rather than bodily transport units of necrons, we'll just become too like Marines imho.

regular transport aye that would be bad but a method of movement is what I would like and I agree one of the necrons main fears is to be designed similar to Marines IMO.

I don't like niether the destroyer-based "chariot" idea nor the barge, the whole fun with necrons was that they look a little like undead but are different and has their own style, not any anctient-Egyptian nor Moldavian-vampiric dracula style, they got the atmosphere with their emerald details and huge greenish flying ziggurat of doom, their symbiosis withe their vehicles as the destroyers ceased to be guys on wierd jetbikes and necron was merged with his platform and weaponary, i hate the idea of lord sitting on the destroyers body, why the hell should he as he may join one and have 100% controll upon it...
As for the barge, i don't like the idea of vehicle that looks like a giant penis with coffin-shaped jet nozzle and section view...
I would love to see necrons getting a real flyer, maybe something connected in shape with their gothic style crescent shaped flyer with necron pilot merged with the mashine by the warren of wires...

Not exactly, somethig similar, but with pilot more in the penitent engine/destroyer way,and also i would pick the shape closer to the tomb ship than the jackall/dirge .

The word chariot sound tomb king-esque and if they make necrons tomb kings in space i will shoot myself...
anyway Chariot might be also their destroyers body so not necessary some chariot in exact meaning of the word...

Post by: Mar
I think the book refers to it has a 'sky chariot' that the Lord wishes to use but can not that is all we know and thats assuming that the book FoD is the future of Necrons. In a few sci fi realms people refer to some airborne craft has chariots without them being chariots at all but I do not think you need to worry about the necron image changing to more tomb king like, the image most people have of Necrons is monoliths and hordes of warriors and from what people have heard in rumours they are not changing dramatically.

Well imho while i love the design of the funeral barge (not to mention the incredible detail of the artwork), it doesn't seem very much like a flier to me, although with their superior tech Necrons might not actually need a flier 'shape' to actually get airborne.
On the other hand, Skeletor's barge (blast from the past lol) is a pretty nice idea as well...although maybe the seat could be left out, i don't know. Necrons should be merged with their ships and vehicles rather than seated on them. Always imho.

I've been scrabbling around looking for the reference but have given up.
There is a story about a mechanicus expedition that pokes a tomb world in to action and finds that a member of the expedition is either a necron lord or the deceiver. I really can't remember which but have been left with the impression that it was a lord as I thought it was strange that the guy was doing so much talking and I do remember something about his death mask....
The point? I'm fairly sure that there is fluff enough that points to a handful of lords being in some control of their faculties although they are hate filled monsters driven insane by their 60 million years of killing and sleeping. So necrons with some personality wouldn't be too out of the question, although I do agree that too much personality would ruin their malice filled, cold killer 'feel'.
As for what might be on the horizon for the new dex: I think the harvester from the soul drinkers novels could be on the cards considering how closely some elements of its description match the tomb stalker (Sharpened armour plates, bladed limbs, insect-like appearence, the weird turbine for an ass thing), the harvester is just big enough for a couple of SM to party around inside.
I agree that the chariot thing needs to be done properly and I would really hate an potential 'revamp' of the models to make them look like tomb kings in space. And a giant necron walker? are we talking the harvesters from the terminator movies here? And will the flier be the hunter killer? Me no likey.
I prefer the suggestion of a revamped spyder with a bigger model and some new weapon choices (The Gauss blaster is a joke).
I've just bought up a couple of lots of OOP necrons and some current destroyers for a destroyer wing based list. Sods law dictates that the way I've now directed my lists will be made obsolete witht he new dex. They have to do something about the warriors being so pitiful though so all us cron players with 40+ necrons might only have to deal with our destroyers being turned in to floating cannon fodder.

File that one along with the viral misspelling of "definitely" with an "a" in it that keeps growing faster than algae in a stagnant pond.
If Necrons get half the cool new plastic kits that are rumored for them it should be an exciting revision for a model range that has had little attention in its now long history.

I hear you on that. Friend of mine was trying to stick the wing of a Bloodthirster on, in the end he gave up, the routine of "glue, hold, wait half an hour, place model down, wing falls off, scrape out glue" got a tad too repetitive after the second week.

That seems so try at the moment and I can see why in many ways, the surprise effect is often fun but I really do wish I could just know instead! Also I think someone mentioned that GW said before that each Necron update would give off the 'awakening of the race escalation' and I agree I remember that too. Fluff wise you got to bear in mind these guys were the most advanced technologically 'back in the day' to compete with the old ones biological and warp space capabilities so more vehicles I can understand has their tomb worlds start working more towards their best. I also thought the cryptek's were not pariahs but necrons whom were made to wake up the tomb worlds but I could be wrong here.

Last I checked the battleforce was ~$70 on amazon, I think I'm gonna pick it up simply because I'd rather at least have a larger necron army and if I have to buy more of the new models then so be it. Destroyers and warriors will be there so I might as well stock up.
Also, the blood angels battle force is a fail simply because if your fielding tacticals and not las/plas razorbacks in your army your doing it wrong.

Ok, was chattgin to the manager at my local GW yesterday.
He wouldn't confirm the release date, obviously (arse).
I was telling him about the different rumours on here. He stated that there is at least 1 brand new unit (didn't say if it was infantry or vehicle though) that he has seen a model for, and also said that the details on the new models make them look "as good as, if not better than than the DE models"
He also flat out denied that there would be different coloured rods in the kits, saying it would not be cost effective to produce so many for each kit.
Also said that Scarabs as Troops was very unlikely.
He agreed that a kit of 3 Destroyers with options makes more sense than boxing them up individually......but that's nto a confirmation or a denial so.........
Now obviously this could all be complete rubbish, but thought i would post it anyway as it could be news or a rumour.
He also keeps pointing me to the BoLS forums so maybe more GW staff post on there?
