Thanks Gits. My brother loves to draw, but sculpting is a new thing for him.
For example he drew this for Red Button's Nation :
Januine wrote: Crikey Minus, those skin tones are seriously gorgeous. Top job there fella. Hektor looks amazing. The turquoise pendant is a nice touch. Really sets off the greys. Cracking!!
While I was posting WIP shots on facebook a friend told me to add nuances in his skin tone. I followed his advice and I've put blue, turquoise, sepia and brown, but also purple and red in his skin. Whatever color that inspired me went on this model. ^^
Thanks guys !
My brother and I are really happy with all the nice feedbacks we get on Hektor.
Lets see what's next ?
Well, I have a dreadnought beeing painted for Gits Mantis comp'. And I also painted a NPC for Eden. I don't know his english name, but in french it's called "Fangeux". It lives in swamps and such, and his skin and bites are poisonous. I thought "toxic frog" and ended painting a yellow and black Fangeux. Guess what ? I hate painting yellow. ^_^
Love it Minus. Just like every other damn thing you paint!! It's a great mini too, looks like a blast to paint frankly.....And YOURE doing the paint comp too?? Hmm I might sit this one out just to see what glory you come up with.....naHHHH.....I got ideas now....

Thanks.
And of course I'm in. I judged one previous Edition of Mantis comp', I wanted to participate this time. It's been a long time since I last painted 40k models. So that was a good opportunity to dig up a model from my desk drawer.
Camkierhi wrote:That is so cute, and adorable and probably poisonous!
Can't wait to see your Mantis work.
It's definitely poisonous !
Ruleswise, it poison's you if he wounds you, but also when you injure him. He's definitely a bad guy you want to avoid.
And I promised some Mantis WIP !
Here it comes. Of course, it's faaaar from completion.
It comes from Space Crusade, or one of its extensions. I don't really know, it's a gift, someone offered me a lot of OOP models years ago (I got a bunch of orks too ). I've never played Space Crusade, but I love those old dreadnoughts.
By the way, I finished painting him. Gits, I hop you'll like it.
Cool stuff, a very nice modern interpretation of a classic model, you could probably put that in a current 40k army and not know it was out of place, the paintjob really updates it!
I love it Minus. Everything about it makes me warm and fuzzy. Really great job on the technique used to paint the chassis too. The little touches here and there are just fantastic.
whalemusic360 wrote:That's such a strange model. The guns all looks crisp and current, but the body looks super dated. Would be interesting if FW did a modern take on it.
That's because I replaced the original weapons with current ones. This simple weaponry switch makes the whole model look more modern in my opinion.
Paradigm wrote:Cool stuff, a very nice modern interpretation of a classic model, you could probably put that in a current 40k army and not know it was out of place, the paintjob really updates it!
In fact that's what I do. All my 40k armies mix old and newer models. When painted the same way, and not using early 90's blood red and golblin green details everywhere, the old miniatures fit pretty well in these armies.
Gitsplitta wrote:I love it Minus. Everything about it makes me warm and fuzzy. Really great job on the technique used to paint the chassis too. The little touches here and there are just fantastic.
If you love it, then this makes me a happy man Gits. Every paint splatter I've put on him, I was thinking "Minus, you're doing this for Gits !".
Januine wrote:Sweet work as ever Minus. Lovely weathering you've done. The design was such a departure from the usual dreadnoughts but I really quite like it
Thanks Januine !
This week-end there was an Eden turnament in my region. I played my Convoy, and I had painted a new model especially for this occasion
I didn't really perform gamewise since the dice were really against me. However I had a great time, I enjoyed playing all those games, and in the end I won the painting prize wich makes me happy.
What's especially cool about your Convoy team is how different they look from the standard minis - I didn't realize how much cool stuff you'd done until I saw your batreps against other Eden minis, I guess I just assumed everything was crazy awesome in that game
Congrats on the painting award, well-earned for sure! Planning to recap your games, or too painful to relive? And is Eden usually played with such tiny groups of models??
Gitsplitta wrote:That's really sweet Minus, me likey!! What's the vintage of that machine again?
Minus wrote:It comes from Space Crusade, or one of its extensions.
IIRC It's a Mark X Abomination-class dreadnought from the Mission : Dreadnought expansion to Space Crusade, so at this point the base model is at least two decades old. I think it's held up quite well, though the paint job here is certainly helping.
whalemusic360 wrote:Would be interesting if FW did a modern take on it.
That's what I hoped the FW Dorito dreadnought would be, but alas This, on the other hand, is a great update of the old Space Crusade dread.

Thanks Boss Salvage !
I try to have my own interpretation of the different factions I paint. I think a lot about my color schemes when I start a new band/army/crew because I love to have something that's really personnal. The Convoy for example is the typical "nice survivors" group in Eden. Mine are former prisonners who escaped the underground labs of my Askaris, who made medical and genetics experiments on them, creating some sort of monsters. I love tortured characters, it adds a lot more to the background and history to have someone who's torn inside than just good guys, or bad guys, in my opinion.
And yes, Eden is a real skirmish game. You play, depending on faction, between 3 and 8 models, generally 4 to 6. The game is very rich and deep, and nervous too, the interaction between the characters is very important. I'll post photos of the tournament lower in this post, you'll see several in game pictures.

You made me paint 40k, Gits ! It didn't happen for months, don't you realize ? ^^

Thanks for the additionnal information Turaxa. I've never played Space Crusade, I only knew that it came from this game.
Thanks Gits !
There were several really nice bands in that tournament, that's a good point forpeople like me, who love the models as much as the game.
I painted a new warrior for my Convoy. Like Ulrich, this one is inspired by a famous fictionnal character too. I really liked painting this one. The pants took me forever to paint, but I still enjoyed it.
I love tentacle girls enough to have painted one. I won't judge you man.
Last sunday, we had another great Eden Day !
Not a tournament this time, just 4 games with a dozen players, including one mutliplayer game. I created a little add-on to play buildings in Eden, à la Mordheim or Necromunda. I was a huge fan of Mordheim, and I wanted to make my warriors jump on their rivals and try to stab them again !
Paradigm wrote: That game seems to attract wonderful painters! Lovely aesthetic, wonderful atmosphere... I probably need to get some at some point!
Having only a few models to paint helps. You can spend more time on each miniature, and still have your group ready to fight in a reasonnible delay. That's something I really love in skirmish games !
You'll do a great job if you paint some Eden. Please show me if you do someday !
FAntastic stuff Minus. but dammit!!! You've got me looking through the EDEN store now - so many cool sculpts and factions........I really dont need to be buying more figs...but.......they are looking really good. Can't quite decide on which faction I like most yet. ISC are well cool but those Askari......and the Nephilim.......*sigh* there goes my money!!!
Hi Januine !
It would be great to see you paint some Eden too !
If you can't decide on a faction, you can pick two... or three. But there's also another solution. In Eden, you can mix fighters from different factions if they have the same stigmata.
I'll give you an example :
This band is from the faction type :
All of them have the same logo on the top left of the card, in this case the two scimitars on the green circle of the Askaris.
The stigmata is the logo on the bottom right. Here they all have a different stigmata but it's not a problem since they're all Askaris.
On the contrary, we have here Vladd, from the Jokers, whose Stigmata is "Chaos" as shown by the skull on the bottom right of his card.
If you want, you can gather fighters who all have the "Chaos" Stigmata and play them together. For example, you can add Lilith from the Dante's Angel.
Lilith plus Vladd make 60 points, you still have 40 points available to recruit more warriors.
Since there are 11 factions and 5 stigmatas... that's a lot of possibilities.
Sweet. I really have to look into this some more. Who sculpts the figs for Eden? I was watching a few Eden example gmaes on Beasts of War - looks like a pretty tidy game
bebopdrums2424 wrote:Gorgeous stuff Minus. As per usual...

Januine wrote:Sweet. I really have to look into this some more. Who sculpts the figs for Eden? I was watching a few Eden example gmaes on Beasts of War - looks like a pretty tidy game
There are several sculptors, most of them are french as far as I know. Main one is Mohand who created the game. And there are other sculptors that second him. In general it's indicated in the online shop who sculpted and painted the model. For example the second Musharef Askari was made by Jean-Marc Brisset : http://www.eden-the-game.com/musharef-askari-2-art853.html "Original painting Sebastien Lavigne and sculpting Jean-Marc Brisset."
I have found a short introduction video to Eden, in english.
It shows some key informations about the gameplay. For more details, there is a more complete video on Beasts of War :
Nice one Minus. I watched all the BoW vids. Introduction one looks good. Gonna pick up some stuff at the online store once I've cleared off all the stuff on my present painting line.

It would be definitely great to have you paint some Eden. I'd love it.
And I see we all have the same problem. I litterally have a dozen projects on my desk, waiting for paint. Currently I have so much things started that I don't make any progress since I don't really know where to start. I should stop thinking, grap my brush and have a go !
Hear that! I ordered the bases for Deathwatch:Overkill today and suddenly realised exactly how many figs come in that box!! Ah merde - I'll finish them sometime next millenia!!!
Januine wrote: Hear that! I ordered the bases for Deathwatch:Overkill today and suddenly realised exactly how many figs come in that box!! Ah merde - I'll finish them sometime next millenia!!!
Drybrush them, you'll finish that quickly. Well, maybe that won't look that good... but at least that's quick !
Ok guys, here's a teaser of what I'm currently working on. People wanted me to paint jeans so here I am.
Soooooo much more to do on this model... and it's not even for me !
And I finished Nybbas yesterday ! This model is for a friend from Belgium. He has a nice Dante's Angels band (you can see a pic in my blog article).
More views (and my friends models) are visible here : http://code660066.blogspot.fr/2016/06/eden-peinture-de-nybbas.html
Who can guess what was the inspiration for his tatoos ?
Thanks guys !
The jeans were the starting point of it all. In fact, I organized an Eden gaming day recently (see top of the page) and a friend brought this model for me to show him how to paint jeans during lunch time.
But we didn't have the time in the end (to much chatting with everybody) so I kept the miniature and promised him to paint the pants and do some tutorial.
After the jeans were done, I decided to paint the whole model. I thought it would make him happy. ^_^
I'm back with an ISC band. This is the new ISC starter. With these three models, you have 100 points and that's all you need to play.
Skirmish games are fantastic.
That's quick and easy tabletop painting, but I still like the way they look.
Thanks guys !
@ ckig : I guess that's a common problem for us all. The good point is that you don't need a lot of miniatures to play Eden. Resistance generally has 4 fighters, and Convoy 4 or 5.
Speaking about Convoy...
I painted The Condottiere, a limited edition mercenary, to play it as Georg. It will be a perfect count-as.
Sweet work Minus. Love his eyes and the skin tones are top banana.
Oh 0 - while I'm about it - had another read through that tutorial you made on weathering - really helpful stuff for the vignette base I'm making at the minute - cheers fella
Januine wrote: Sweet work Minus. Love his eyes and the skin tones are top banana.
Wait wait wait... aren't bananas supposed to be yellow ?

Oh great !
It took me forever to translate it (thanks again Gits for your help) then I'm very pleased if it helps. Give me a link so I can see the result when it's done mate.

ISC is not my favorite faction (would you guess that i LOVE Askaris ? ) but most of them look really nice. And to be honest, I love all three models from the starter.
If you get them someday, let me see, whatever game you use them in. ^^
As for Georg's eyes, they're plain black with gloss varnish. The white dots on my Convoy's models eyes are real light reflection. I think that those black eyes surrounded by red skin are really scary in a way. Like some movie monsters :
Oh great !

It's a little further on than this now as I've attached it to its plinth - just waiting for the pva in the pool part to dry so i can fill it with blood (you'll see ) - damnanble humidity over here at the mo means its taking an age to dry >< couldnt/didnt use weathering powders on this one as (again) damned humidity means I can't spray to seal them on. So all done by brush. Have had sooooo much fun with this so far
It's really hot in there these days, I can hardly paint. However I still painted a test model for my Naashtis, a new faction for Alkemy. As usual when I start a new army/band/group, it took me ages to decide on the color scheme. I wanted to make something different than the classical brown or green snakes scheme. My brother came home and since he loves blue, I decided to have a go with it. And it works well in my opinion.
Thanks Gits ! I've struggled a little while painting this test model, because I wasn't really sure what I wanted to do. But it was worth the effort since it helped a lot. The color scheme is now decided, and I painted two models with this scheme and I love them. I'll post photos of my Naashtis later !
Yay - Minus is back with a bag of awesome with him!!! Good to see you back fella. Lovely looking Eden figs you've painted up. Particularly like the cyber-dog and the gasmask faced guy with a hood. Purrple of course

Hey Januine !
It's not a dog, it's a hyena. It's worse than a dog. (and in-game it's pretty bad-ass ). The Gasmask guy is the Defender. He's in the starter set, it's one of the first three models that were sculpted when the faction was launched, and it's because of this miniature that I chose the Askaris. I had no idea of their gameplay or background. It's my avatar on several forums, btw. ^^

If you're interested in the game, check the Beasts of War wbsite. There are really good videos about Eden, showing game mechanics and tactical advice. This one, for example : http://www.beastsofwar.com/eden/basic-mechanics/ The core rules of Eden are simple as hell. Yet the gameplay is really deep, rich, and tactical.

QFT! I found myself looking through the model line once again. Thinking Nephilim this time? Though I still like the ISC ...
- Salvage
You both are making me a great compliment.
ISC and Nephilim have a different gameplay. Of course, it can't be reduced to a few words, but to keep it simple, the main aspects of ISC are their armour that reduce the damages they get, the fact that they can't be hurt, they fight at full ability until they're destroyed, and they each have a really specialized role on the battlefield. The Nephilim have a lot of abilities that allow dice control. They ave re-rolls, possibility to change dice values and so on.
Thanks a lot for the latest comments Gits and Januine ! I've made some progress on my other Naashtis, but none of them is finished so far. However, I painted the new ISC model for Eden, and it's fantastic.
The Blue Fusetsu (that's its name) is a walking factory. It can produce little robots during the game. I love the idea. The sculpt is great, painting it was really enjoyable and easy.
One more noticeable thing is that the Fusetsu introduces a new multiplayer game mode called "Eden Legends", where all the other players fight the one playing the Blue Fusetsu. The game creator asked me to take part in the creation of this game mode, and I'm really proud of it !
Your work and style have been stunning me speechless for sometime, and those snake people are a prime example of the wonderful way you have with colour and paint. The models are brilliant and I will be getting some soon, no ifs or buts anymore, your work is amazing on them.
Then we come to that final model, it is at a whole different level again, I would say Masterpiece, but that implies a one off, and I know you will do this again to me. It is a devastatingly good work of art sir. It is such a fantastic model, agree with Jan I will be buying one. But your skills on it are brilliant, words again fail me......
Love the model and the paint work you've given it Minus. Could be a Necron spider in 40k easily too. Great setting for the display with the swamp board and background. Very nicely done!

I had already written some official multiplayer missions for Eden, but this new game mode was a bigger piece of work. I hope players will have fun with it.
Oguhmek wrote:Fantastic rust effect, really great. Love the base too.
Thanks !
At first I planned to do an industrial base like on my other ISC's models, but this big flat surface (the base is 50 mm wide) was a perfect occasion to do a swamp base.
Gitsplitta wrote:Love the model and the paint work you've given it Minus. Could be a Necron spider in 40k easily too. Great setting for the display with the swamp board and background. Very nicely done!
Gits, always there. It could be used with minor conversions for necrons or admechs in the 40k settings, I think.
I made great progress on my Naashtis (the snake-men) but they're still not complete. I'm painting them five at a time, I didn't do this much lately.
But I painted a little something. It's not a miniature, but I think you might like it. My Unkle made a custom USB key using some halloween toy, and asked me to paint it zombie-style. I love zombies... he didn't have to ask me twice !
Hmmmm. And that's the first 'hmmmm' I've ever had on your work. The green skin is lush, the purple is totally Minus. But the glossy blue stuff..... I guess I just don't get it. Is it part of his skin colouring or slime or...... If you look st his back, the glossy blue seems more like it's not part of the character but something else. I guess I just don't get it. Sorry Minus :/
Hi guys !
I have no problem with criticism. On the contrary, it helps getting better and proves that the compliments are sincere.
So, why are my snakes "glossy" ?
There are two reasons for this. First one is that I wanted to show that snakes scales are glossy, and it's especially visible on dark ones. Let's say, for exemple, that one :
Most of the Naashtis have sculpted scales on their back and upper part of their head.
See Suul~Koor'z for instance :
At first, I highlighted each single scale individually, but it takes forever and the result is not as good as I expected. The best solution I found to get an interesting effect was using gloss varnish. The result is more convincing IRL since you can see the light play on the eddges as you turn the models.
Thus all my Naashtis have a darker blue back, with glossy effect. So does the Choker, even if there are no scales sculpted on his back.
The second reason is that I focus on contrast with this band. Almost everything is highlighted with white, I use fluo paints, complimentary colors and also play on mat/glossy surfaces. It makes them really pop on the table, even my orange convoy looks almost dull beside my Naashtis. As Boss Salvage says, the glossy backs are eyecatching, as the weapons are, and that's what I wanted.
Now, to be honest, when I decide on such schemes, like for my Convoy or my Askaris, I know that not everyone will love them. That's part of the game.
In my topics (or on my blog) always feel free to criticize and to be sorry for it. Comment, be honest, say what you like but also what you don't, both are important. I really mean it, I learned everything from forums feedbacks (and I think I made little progress since I started), I have no jedi master who taught me everything regarding the secrets of acrylics.
They look incredible. Really nice job. Like others not sure of the blue. Don't mind the shiny, just not absolutely sold on the blue. I think I like it, but I am not in love. That is not a bad thing, we all have different points of view.
Oh man... I've been away for way too long ! I've had some really busy months lately, but I kept working (slowly) on some hobby related projects.
One of the reasons why I was so busy is a new game mode I created for Eden. At first it was a projects for my friends and I, but the game editor got interested and contacted me. My fan project turned into an official supplement, and will be released pretty soon. I'm so happy about this !
But it's not today's subject. I've painted reinforcements for my Fury Goblins. The latest is a Red Rider on War-Hamster. The concept is so fun !
I love painting these goblins, really.
You can see all the images on my blog 50 Nuances de Violet (wich means 50 shades of Purple.
Yass! So glad you're back, mate! I loved catching up on everything you've done while I was away and I visited your blog a couple of times to see what you were up to. Hope to see you around here a lot more again!
Casey's Law wrote:Fantastic! I love the little details that you add. Nice shiny boots too, gloss varnish I presume?
Thanks Casey !
Yes the boots have a gloss varnish as final touch. At first, I had planned to put some weathering powders, to imitate the dust and all, but then I thought that It'd be funnier if they had perfectly polished shoes. When I posted my first models on the official forum, the game creator told me that he loved this idea, so I kept it.
Camkierhi wrote:Wonderful to see you again, love the Hammie, and always loved these little chaps, but then I am bias. That sniper is just full of character.

So do I.
I have one more to show. This one is a special character, he's the result of scientists experiments to create the ultimate weapons to end the war against yetis.
Please welcome Gobderuine. Any ressemblance with an existing character is voluntary.
Hahaha, that's brilliant! Is his alias Huge Axeman?
Jokes aside, your mastery over painting fabrics and textiles is second to none. The vines on the base are fantastic, where did you get them? Or did you make them?
Thanks for the comments, glad to see familiar names again. ^^
@ Casey : haha, I love this, I'll call him Huge Axeman from now. So funny. The vines on Huge's base are Army Painter stuff. I already had grass tufts from that, and found these someday in the local shop. I thought it could be a nice addition for bases and sceneries.
I have more to show from the last months, but I've just finished a new model today, thus I'll show it today. There was a new Askari release for Eden last month, and as you know I'm in love with this faction, it's my favorite since I started Eden.
The Masakh (it's its name) is quite huge regarding the Eden range. It's the second model on 50 mm base, after the Blue Fusetsu (remember, I painted it last year) for the ISC.
I converted him a little bit, replacing his right hand and his head. Since there ara laaaaaaaaarge skin areas, painting Masakh took me ages but in the end I'm very very happy with the result. Hope you'll like him. As usual, see more views on my blog 50 Nuances de Violet.
And to conclude, I'd like to say a word about an upcoming Eden release. As some of you already know, I'm quite involved in Eden, I organise events and create home rules for the game. Lately I've been creating a new gamemode for Eden, and the project interested the game editor. He contacted me and offered me the possibility to make it an official release if I wanted to.
I said yes, and months later - that's why I've been quite busy lately - the ruleset is ready, and Happy Games Factory will launch it via Kickstarter on April 6th !
This gamemode introduces a lot of new features, with narrative play including sceneries and a campaign mode, and also rules for sceneries that allow to play on terrain heavy tables. Have you already wanted to play a post apoc game in city ruins, or on the catwalks of an old factory, or even between shipping containers of a commercial port ? Now you'll have the rules for it.
But it's not for veteran players only, on the contrary this supplement is a good way to start Eden thanks to it's sceneries that are quick and easy to set up.
Oh, and of course this will also be available in english.
Gitsplitta wrote:Excellent! I'll be sure to look for them!

Thanks a lot for your support guys !
I tried to take all the best from Eden, and to add loads of fun in it. I hope people will like it and it'll be a success. It also makes the game easier for beginners, since I've made a lot of demo games I think it's an important point.
Regarding Masakh, I think I've never used so many layers on a miniature's skin ever ! And you know what ? I didn't get bored or so, in fact I loved it. Well, a friend asked me a photo with standard sized models nearby to see how big it is. It's big like that :
Whoa! He's a lot bigger than I thought, I think I'll have to pick Eden up when the kickstarter comes out. Will they have discounts on the stuff that's already available as well as the new stuff?
Casey's Law wrote: Whoa! He's a lot bigger than I thought, I think I'll have to pick Eden up when the kickstarter comes out. Will they have discounts on the stuff that's already available as well as the new stuff?
Yep, he's quite big. He's even bigger than other Askari mutants. Here's an in-game photo from yesterday's Burn Out playtest :
During the previous Eden KS campaigns, it was possible to buy current stuff with a discount, I guess it will be the same this time. I'm not in charge of the KS itself, I "only" make the game rules, so I at this point I don't know exactly what the prices will be.
As soon as I know more I'll tell you.
One of the new aspects that Burn Out brings to Eden - but it's only a part of the whole thing - is the possibility ton play on terrain heavy tables.
Since I've recently bought a 3D printer, I had the perfect excuse for printing lots of stuff and I made a Laboratory table, both for playtesting and demo games.
Yes please let me know, it sounds very interesting and could be a good opportunity to get involved. Are most of the players in France?
I love terrain. I love dense, realistic terrain. I love that terrain. It actually makes Eden more appealing to me if it plays well in this sort of terrain. What was the inspiration? I'm guessing Portal?
Having a 3D printer must be brilliant, endless possibilities. Is it expensive to run?
Indeed. The reason is quite simple : it's a french game. The Happy Factory team is based in France, thus it's easier for them to developp a french community. They can more easily attend to events in Paris, Lille or Lyon than in foreign countries.
That being said, there are players at least in Germany, in Australia, in the US and in the UK. The team was in Chicago for Adepticon last week, I know they went to Essen in Germany, and I think they come back to Salute in London in April.

I love terrain too. I found inspiration in lots of sci-fi movies. First of all, I need to say that I did not create all the 3D models I used, I found almost everything on Thingiverse. I wanted something that looked high-tech, a bit weathered but not too much, in order to change from the piles of rusted crap I usually do. The idea was to make a part of a subterranean base, like the ISC or Askari laboratories. I went for a light grey because it sounds "lab" to me. I added red stripes because I was reading a Simon Stalenhag artbook and found a great illustration of a grey and red machine and it inspired me.
I also tried to keep it simple, so that the scenery reveals the miniatures when we play on it, and does not overwhelm them.
Btw, if you don't know Simon Stalenhag, google him. I LOVE his work. Here's a sample :

That's the point. You can do almost anything you want. There are tons of files available on the internet. And if it's not enough, I can create my own models.
As for the price, the printer itself I use costs 300 euros. The plastic spools cost around 25 euros for 750g, for the whole table I used 3 spools. It's not really cheap, but it's reasonnable. Where it becomes financially really interesting, is for smaller terrain pieces, or little accessories.
For example, I also made this :
And a friend created a truck for W40k. I printed it, and I finished painting it yesterday. I'll take pics !
Casey's Law wrote: Thanks for pointing me to Simon Stalenhag, that's some brilliant work, very inspirational.
I really love what he does. I discovered his work thanks to a friend who lives in Sweden, and I thank him for that.
Casey's Law wrote: That's some really lovely scatter terrain you've got yourself there and well worth the cost of materials I reckon. Great paint jobs too!.
Thanks Casey.
Casey's Law wrote: I've got some experience with 3D modelling so I'd love to get my hands on a printer for a while.
If you can do 3D models... then you could do almost anything with a 3D printer.
Remember that I talked about an upcoming 3D printed project ? Time has come to reveal it !
A friend of mine wanted to create his own truck design for 40k. Seeing me posting 3D printed stuff got him motivated enough to finally make it. The project took us quite a long time, and you can see the progress on my blog : http://code660066.blogspot.fr/2017/04/40k-le-porte-container.html
Gitsplitta wrote: Seriously cool! Is that a push-me-pull-you design? (i.e. two cabs?)
Hi Gits !
The first idea of my friend was to make a truck that would pull a trailer mad of another armored truck. The design evolved until this, with a cab on the rear of the vehicle. But it's more an attached defensive bunker (my friend will add turrets) than a driving cab.
The exception is this version where we glue the two cabs together, and it makes some sort of tunnel vehicle. And this one is a push-pull concept. ^^
The NMM on the Defender's legs is awesome, mate, so rich! You must be a pigmentomancer, it's the only explanation.
The truck is really nice too, one of the big bits companies released one recently but the scale is tiny, yours looks much better. If you ever have a crazy idea and not enough time then I'd love to have a crack at doing a 3D model for printing, just let me know, haha.
Hi Casey !
I really need to find times to see what you all have painted lately, I've been really busy and I'm sure Gitsplitta has posted a crap ton of photos and reached 40k pages on his blog...
Great !
The kickstarter was funded in less than an hour. It's crazy ! At first I created this game mode for my friends and I, that's less than 10 people. Today more than 500 people have pledged ! I'm... wow, it's fantastic, I'm so happy.

I'm a cheater. It's not NMM, it's TMP. I've always prefered TMP paintings, but I feel like people underestimate it. It's a bit like TMP is drybrush, wash, done, while NMM is the noble side of metal paintings. I try to get a lot of various results on a TMP base, and I really like the process.
For the defender legs, I made a tutorial, it's french (as always) but you can see the images for each step. And I can summarize it in english if you're interested. Right here :

If you remember who made a truck, I'm curious to see. ^^
The advantage with 3D printing is that I can easily change scale if I ever feel the need.
And I have tons of ideas for things to print. Lately I've been thinking about making a fair themed table for the Jokers. Like a big-wheel, a carousel, a circus tent and so on. But to be honest, if you model anything that looks cool, I'd love to print it.
But .....but ...OK your excited about this aren't you. I make the mistake of not looking in for a bit and you get all mass production on me!
Amazing work all round, too many favourites to pick one, all looking stunning as we expect, but you are managing somehow to take it up a notch, the NNM, the fabrics, that cat, you have cemented yourself at the top of the game bud, stunning.
Yeh TMM/TMP is what I meant to say. Most people just apply metallic paints straight out of the bottle, gold for gold, silver for silver, etc. TMM is a huge step up and just a wonderful as NMM in a lot of situations. I think the popularity of NMM makes people think all or nothing but TMM is a really good step between the two and you are proof that it's a skill well worth learning.
Ooh, might just have to dust of the cobwebs and have a play about with some 3D modelling software and see what I can come up with!
The painted fur texture on that panther is phenomenal and what a lovely model it is too! I love the angle of the base.
P.S. I checked and the badly scaled truck is from Puppetswar. Here it is with someone's Infinity miniatures, you can see how tiny the door in particular is.
Thanks Gits !
That's a big cat ! I wouldn't like to encounter one in the wastelands.

I do'nt know if I reached the top (I hope not, I'd like to progress more and more) but I'm developping my style and that's maybe what I prefer in the whole process.
Anyway I love painting skirmish warbands, because the low models count allows me to spend much more time and effort into it.
CommissarKhaine wrote:That cat looks amazing! And forgive my ignorance, but what does TMP stand for?
TMP means True Metal Painting, it's the opposite on NMM (Non Metallic Metal). When doing TMP, you use silver, gold and so on paints with metallic pigments in them.
But I paint my metals using TMP paints but also NMM technics, I mix them both. Just because.

That's exactly my point.
Painting nice TMM is not so easy and it's really interesting to do. But it's often underestimated. Personnaly, I love how TMP look and reflect the light when I hold the miniatures in my hands.

Can't wait, I want to see what you'll come to !

It's a limited edition from before I started Eden. I was really happy when I found one !

Spoiler:
Thanks for the link. That truck looks good but indeed the doors are tiny and it looks a bit out of scale.
Ok, for today I have a new Eden terrain set. These are not for me, a player asked me if I could make him 8 sceneries for a standard gaming table. I knew he planned to put them on a mat with a road, so he wanted only things that wouldn't lookk out of place if placed on the road. Thus, no buildings or so. And I did this : http://code660066.blogspot.fr/2017/04/decors-table-post-apo-pour-eden.html
Gitsplitta wrote:Stop being so good, will you? Really... it's getting annoying.
Haha Gits !
I tried to totally screw up the last one I painted. Just for you.
Moltar wrote:Agree with Gits! I'm really digging those new scenery pieces and that kitty.
Thanks Moltar !
I've been really busy with our Kickstarter lately, still 2 days to go. I had never run a KS before, it's quite a crazy thing to do !
But thanks to our one mini = one week challenge, I painted a Christmas elf this week :
Thanks guys ! And yes it's André the Giant who played Fezzik !
Nice new avatar Gits btw !
Some friends told me that the face was not as good as the rest of the miniature, and lacked contrast. Thus I took my brushes back an repainted his face. ^^
Now you know why parents tell their kids to be nice and wise for Christmas.
Yorkright wrote: I would only want to be on his nice list. They look great minus, really like Andre too. Probably my favorite character from Princess Bride.
You'd better be, or he'll kick your ass. I love André's character too, next on my list is Inigo Montoya, and with Dreadfull Pirate Roberts and Fezzik I'll have a playable band.
Theophony wrote:Now I KNOW what I want for Christmas. excellent job on those guys, I don't want to see what santa has in his bag...maybe what's left of rudolph
Considering Klaus' butcher knife and the spoons the elves have on their belts, we can figure out that they quite like to eat, and having a look in Klaus' sock we see they like meat... I guess that we won't ever see Rudolph again...
Camkierhi wrote:Santa 300!
"THIS IS CHRISTMAS!!"
Brilliant work, love the models, painting is it's usual ridiculously good standard. Really nice skin tone and amazingly deep reds.
This is Negan's 300 christmas ! l like painting reds. Lots of people say they don't like it, but I find it quite easy and enjoyable, and red really pops out when minis are put on the gaming table. I like it !
These days I'm working hard on the rules for the Burn Out KS bonuses. Thus I don't have much time to paint. Plus it's really hot in France these days and painting is almost impossible since my desk is upstairs. Too damn hot up there.
Buuuuut I still have something to show. A friend borrowed my ISC, and I made a photo of all I have painted so far. I know some of you like these robots. ^^
Ok, so I've posted nothing in almost a year. Well done Minus. Well, not that I have to justify, but I got a new job on the other side of France, had to move to a new house and so on. I can say that I've been a bit busy lately.
But I still had a bit time for hobby here and there. Those who maybe check my blog have seen my progress, but I'll try to post here on Dakka again.
And I'll start with the latest project !
Who here can remember the truck I made for a friend ? Remember, he 3D designed it, and I printed and painted it for him.
Guess what ?
We did it again.
He wanted to have buggies, he's an absolute fan of FW's Tauros but he wanted his very own. So we did it.
