another small sign of life,

hopefully it means they've paid some outstanding bills with their caster (or are doing it themselves) rather than getting them on credit from another supplier

but whatever money coming in means at least some chance that some of the KS projects can eventually deliver

An update on the Rail Raiders KS today

Greetings backers,

As part of our updates, we wanted to share with you how much we appreciate your support as we have started to engage a larger plan to pull together resources to execute on our obligations. Our Masterclass launch was successful, and thus far, looks like we willbe able to sustain production, stock levels, all to drive cash flows into Kickstarter projects.

Our first goal has been to chop down moneys owed to our primary Masterclass manufacturers as part of our plan, the profits have gone entirely to remove over ½ of our owed debt to them, and we should be clear by the end of the month. This has previously prevented movement on our KS obligations, and we are making our first leg of progress with your help.

As part of our broader strategy, we are launching today a digital products Humble Bundle. The opportunity here is to try and mobilize some of our print assets as digital print and play downloads. All content available on this campaign has been available to you, the backers as updates, downloads, or as a physical product. The added benefit being that of the funds raised, we will put our proceeds towards more of the KS fulfillment, andwe are helping out a great cause with charity proceeds going towards Hospice of the Northwest Foundation.

We are working to be as flexible with the tools we have to bring you your rewards. As we close out our months goal for funding, we will be transitioning to an exciting goal that will translate into real products being made for backers.More on that to come.

If you are interested in digital copy of some of our games, please check out our Humble Bundle here.

Thank you sincerely,

Ninja John

now this is the really significant bit 'Our first goal has been to chop down moneys owed to our primary Masterclass manufacturers as part of our plan, the profits have gone entirely to remove over ½ of our owed debt to them, and we should be clear by the end of the month.'

encouraging, if they can get back to a point of not owing the caster they'll have a lot more flexibility to get stuff done

I see that they cut & pasted it to SDE:L and assume it went to ALL of their KS. I wonder how many people will bite.

We have begun the account and Kickstarter order history migration from the old Soda Pop Miniatures store to the Ninja Division website! We have started with the Relic Knights Kickstarter order history.

New and Existing Accounts
If you already have an account on this site, your Relic Knights Kickstarter order history will automatically be attached to that account as long as your Soda Pop account and Ninja Division account share the same e-mail address.

If you didn't create a new account on this website (as suggested if you were not able to login), we created a new account for you using your Soda Pop account e-mail address. This account will contain your Soda Pop account history for Kickstarter orders. (ONLY Relic Knights Kickstarter orders at the moment.) It is now ready for you to access.

If you created a new account on this website and the e-mail address you used is different than the one for your Soda Pop account you now have two accounts. Please contact us at info@ninjadivision.com and we will work to get your accounts together.

Shipping Address Changes
You are now able to change your shipping address yourself through your account tools!

If you need to change your shipping address for existing orders, you need to open the order in your account and you will find the option to do it there.

Kickstarter Order Details
Details for pledge rewards are available on each project's Kickstarter page.

Through the Ninja Division website you will be able to see what pledges and add-ons you ordered. You are not able to open each order item individually to see the specific details, that information is on the Kickstarter itself.

Remember, we have only begun the order history migration for the Relic Knights Kickstarter. If you backed another Kickstarter and completed your pledge through the Soda Pop Store, don't worry! The rest of the accounts and order histories will follow as soon as we can.

Please don't e-mail us asking about account migration updates for other Kickstarters. We are currently not able to reply individually, we will let you know as the next batch are up—as we are doing now.

Additional Help
If you have any problems accessing this newly migrated information, please e-mail us at info@ninjadivision.com with all the information you have.

Please use KS - Relic Knights Help as the subject of your e-mail so that we can identify those e-mails right away.

Please be patient while waiting for a reply, we do reply to all e-mails in the order they come in, and that might take more than a day due to the high volume of e-mails received.

another small bit of progress which is good to see (and reminds me I'm waiting for more that I though I was, sigh)

I took the bait on the Relic Knight resin. Very Nier- ish which I'm sure was the intention.

Already got a shipping notice. Will post once it comes (which is hopefully before I have to leave).

It's a bit of a Catch-22. They need the money to get out of the hole they dug for themselves, but people don't want to give them any more money, which results in nothing continuing to happen.

I'm really curious who's producing these resins for them. I'm familiar enough with Prodos' work to tell right away, and I haven't seen any unbuilt/ unpainted samples floating around out there.

Will be an interesting situation to watch unfold...

Greetings Ninjas,

Today we have exciting news for you regarding Masterclass and our goals for it. If you haven't already read our article on the Future of Masterclass please take a few moments to do so.

All done? Excellent!

We are incredibly pleased to let you know that, thanks to you, the Masterclass plan is succeeding. We have accomplished our first goal!

That's right. Masterclass has proven to be so popular that we have been able to take care of our existing obligations with our Masterclass manufacturers in only two months! This is only the beginning. We are already creating more Masterclass Miniatures for you, so that we can accomplish more goals.

That means it's time for—

Masterclass Goal #2

After much discussion, we have decided that Masterclass Goal #2 will be a 'core rules' Relic Knights Kickstarter Delivery. Here is what that entails:
◾ Digest Format Rulebook from the 2-Player Starter
◾ 2x Esper Decks, both esper decks from the 2-Player Starter
◾ Darkspace Calamity Unit Deck, which includes cards for all of the units from Darkspace Calamity.
◾ Existing Plastic and Resin Models, all of the existing plastic and resin models that we have in sufficient quantities to fulfill to every backer that purchased them.

You will note that two of the items above are from the 2-Player Starter. This means that when we deliver the 2-Player Starters they will not include the Digest Rulebook or Esper Decks, because you will already have them!

Our goal with this release wave is to provide every Relic Knights backer the core materials you need to start playing games of Relic Knights. This will have a carry-on effect of allowing us to release Relic Knights Masterclass models that you can play games with; further allowing us to expand our Masterclass goals towards deliveries for all of our Kickstarters.

We can’t wait to start playing Relic Knights! We are even more excited that our Masterclass Miniatures are helping us move towards the fulfillment of our Kickstarters inch-by-inch.

Thank you to every one of you who have been so supportive and patient as we work through our reorganization and revitalization of the brands we all love so much. Together, we are confident we will succeed!

small steps but a very positive one,

while i'd be more interested in getting SDE legends Relic Knights being in a position to be sold properly again is much more achievable, and that would mean a chance to pick up new buyers again meaning more money to pay for everything else

I'm guessing starfinder would have been next, but if Archon/Prodos did dump all the stock they'd made to avoid the tax bill the talked about a few months ago that might not be viable, especially if the minis are designed for unicast and so something they can't take elsewhere without a fair bit more work

This limited edition miniature will be available to order through November 30th, and then Candy will be off to new adventures. Celebration Candy will be strictly made-to-order. Production runs will be made periodically throughout the order period to make it so that fans of Candy do not need to wait too long to begin painting and playing with this exciting new collectors' model!

Over the next 3 months, we'll also be taking some time to look back at the history of Candy and her companion Cola as we celebrate this iconic duo.

If you want to get in on the very first production run, don't delay—

Previews of some of the first plastics for the no Archon produced Starfinder Miniatures kickstarter were posted yesterday.

Spoiler:

More at Archon's website.

I'm curious if their promises in this kickstarter will be fulfilled at a higher rate than those of AVP. I'll believe it if/when backers report their second round of miniatures arriving en masse in about a year.

Candy looks nice. Will try to get her, but I am a little worried she may not be good statwise(her Brave, Soda and Kunoichi modes didn't even last the first tile when I used her in arcade).

Orlando-Thanks for keeping this up; you are the saint. Looking at the comments for Starfinder and Legends, though, it looks like the people calling SPM scammers haven't even looked at some of the other Kickstarters (Atlantic City, Heroquest and one where the funds were spent on a Porsche come to mind).

Though still young, Delphyne has grasped doctrines difficult for students many years her senior, and she often uses her innate sorcery to augment her cypher, Ekhis's, already formidable abilities. With Delphyne assisting him, Ekhis is downright terrifying. However tragic we may find it that a little girl has seen so much conflict, and should expect to see so much more, few are better prepared to weather such a storm. Indeed, the remarkable thing is not the number of fights Delphyne and Ekhis have been in so much as the number of those they have won.

Is it just me that's affected or are they a bit lagging in getting orders out?

You forgot these:

Spoiler:

I'm really digging Howl's free DEX attack and counter. Shojo, on the other hand, is pretty much a soda dispenser at best.

Looking at their NAS cards and Shojo's keyword, the next two warbands could be Yazamaru and Ika.

Steelhorse Candy Rides!

Next Monday our celebration of Candy's 10th Anniversary continues with a brand new Masterclass Miniature, Steelhorse Candy!

That's right, Rail Raiders Infinite is getting its very first Masterclass Miniature!

After suffering a bit of a cake coma from her previous miniature, Candy is late for the raid and has hopped upon her trusty steel-horse to make her way to the space rail extra quick.

Steelhorse Candy features a new card for Rail Raiders Infinite, as well as a card to use her in your games of Super Dungeon! You know the mad tinkers and engineers of Clockwork Cove would love to get their hands on her mechanical steed!

In fact, one of them may just be joining Steelhorse Candy on her adventures next week...

That they're still chugging along? That they're even offering an incentive to get people to splurge?

Sadly at that price that's like 4 or 5 of their masterclass models?

I've been relatively happy with all the masterclass models I've gotten. Of course I've been getting them with paypal fun money from people splurging on eBay so it's not like it's directly out of my pocket, but the quality has been there.

If it gets them one step closer to actually righting all their stupid mistakes, then maybe they'll actually learn something and not ruin their company (any more than it already has been).

I just want my pledges.

Going to guess that since Beatrix wasn't actually part of any of their KS, they probably made a bunch of her (since she's plastic). And since she initially was only available through the ND website, she probably didn't sell super well (I think people want a big monster for bosses as well, instead of a cute witch on a pumpkin coach. Though I recall she's hard AF in game).

So it's probably more of a 'get rid of stock' thing, more than the company doing poorly.

I'm constantly surprised how many of the bosses are much smaller than mini bosses. There's some serious head scratchers, like Glimmerwing in that bunch. I get why Death was originally a mini boss, but so many of them are quite tiny.

We are manufacturing the Way of the Fighter miniatures in batches as funds become available. However, manufacturing costs are only one of the costs associated with fulfillment. Shipping costs are the final hurdle. To help with these costs and to get you miniatures as quickly as we can we are adopting two strategies:
1.When new miniatures are manufactured we will announce them here and on Kickstarter. We will then automatically include any available miniatures with your future ninjadivision.com orders.
2.Miniatures that are going into manufacturing will be available for preorder by fans who missed them on Kickstarter. The profits from these preorders, as well as from future sales of the miniatures, will go towards shipping the models to backers who have not made an order through ninjadivision.com.

(Please Note: We will ship as many rewards as we can based on the earnings from presales. We will then use profits from the continued sale of Way of the Fighter and Masterclass miniatures to ship remaining rewards that presales did not cover. We cannot guarantee the timeline of these shipments because they will be entirely as funds become available.)

Molds have been made for all five of these miniatures. Kasi and Lumi have completed manufacturing. Preorders will close at the end of the month and we will then complete their manufacturing run and begin shipping. (Kasi and Lumi will continue shipping worldwide with ninjadivision.com orders since they have already completed manufacturing.)

Should this strategy prove successful we will explore the potential of adopting it for our other resin line Relic Knights.

We thank you for your patience and your continued support as we continually look for solutions to provide all of our backers with their rewards. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at info@ninjadivision.com. We are delighted to be able to begin providing you with your rewards!

New Releases for Super Dungeon!

This week sees the release of six incredible new models for your Super Dungeon collections. Most exciting of all is the release of one of the five Princesses of Prophecy, Citrine!

Princess Citrine

With her commanding presence, Citrine found her calling as a warrior and general. She possesses a keen insight for battlefield maneuvers, and her boisterous and bawdy personality ingratiated her immediately with the soldiery. Joining her father on many campaigns, her mere presence serves as a rallying cry to the soldiers of Crystalia and her strength at arms turns many a battle in the King’s favor.

Chuy and Apprentice

Blasting their way south from Arcadia alongside Steelhorse Candy, Chuy and his misfit sidekick, known only as The Apprentice, have an uncommon knack for stirring up trouble. The minions of the Dark Consul have become obsessed with The Apprentice's capture. No doubt they are drawn to the young Apprentice Mage's unique connection to the magicks of Crystalia.

Chuy and Apprentice are Limited Edition miniatures that can be used in your games of Super Dungeon and Rail Raiders Infinite!

Witch Exterminator

The sprawling metropolis of Areals at the heart of Clockwork Cove is a twisting labyrinthine city of technological wonder and ceaseless change. As new structures are built upon the old, less savory denizens begin to fill the abandoned districts and subterranean depths of the city. When infestations of chimeric rats, Undercove goblins, and malfunctioning clockworks grow too large Witch Exterminators are called in cull their numbers and maintain the safety of the city.

Faris

Dedicated to bringing the killer of his uncle to justice, Faris has developed the skills of a hunter. Always patient, a master of tracking, and unerring once the prey is in his sights—all traits shared by the renowned Princess Emerald

Jun

A major otaku and video game enthusiast, Jun is no stranger to cosplay and loves attending conventions dressed as her favorite characters. She is always drawn to adorable witches, such as the Sanctioned Witch, and their lovely, pointy hats.

Note: Faris and Jun are both part of the Way of the Fighter Kickstarter. Their sale will function in the same manner as the last wave of Way of the Fighter miniatures. Details can be found here.

It saves them the effort of doing it themselves (see Disney Star Wars).

Disney could pump a little cash into the IP and make tons of money, but probably not worth their time. They would just crush them to protect their own IP.

Latest KS update - At least the Master series has kept them afloat and releasing a new print on demand SDE core game with existing miniatures should help fund the 2nd edition that we are owed.

Soda Pop Kickstarter Update

Hello Backers

This update is going out across all three of our Kickstarters: Way of the Fighter, Relic Knights, and Super Dungeon and contains an update on what has been happening at Soda Pop and Ninja for the last several months, and updates for all three Kickstarters.

A little over a year ago our publisher Ninja Division launched the resin Masterclass Miniatures line, with the aim of stabilizing Ninja Division and Soda Pop and working towards the twin goals of fulfilling Kickstarter while providing you, our fans, with new miniatures to collect, paint, and play with.

In these goals, Masterclass has shown immense promise and proved successful in moving us forward, albeit at a “slow and steady wins the race” pace. Masterclass has succeeded in stabilizing Ninja Division and Soda Pop, and provided us room to expand upon Masterclass in its second year and begin accelerating towards the achievement of our goals.

In discussions with fans over the course of the last year, we have found that one of the biggest hurdles for Masterclass and all of our games is that there is no easy way to play! Indeed, the gap between Forgotten King’s stocks drying up and 2nd Edition’s delay and the inability to get out the Relic Knights starter were the proverbial “cracks in the dam” which led to the flood. To that end, we are adopting several new strategies to provide you with gameplay options for your existing collections and for future Masterclass miniatures.

Here is how each Kickstarter campaign is affected, and how we are working to get you playing—

Way of the Fighter
Way of the Fighter fans are fortunate, in that you already have all of your game materials and are able to enjoy fast and furious fighting action. The only outstanding items for Way of the Fighter are the miniatures.

Masterclass has allowed us to complete manufacturing for ALL of the Way of the Fighter x Super Dungeon miniatures. We have also completed approximately 50% of the traditional Way of the Fighter miniatures, and are in the process of manufacturing the remainder.

Currently, backers who make any order through Ninja Division’s webstore automatically have any rewards we have manufactured included with their order. In this way, hundreds of backers all over the world have already received their miniatures, while also getting a cool new item. You don’t need to do anything. We check each order specifically.

As we close in on completing production of the traditional Way of the Fighter miniatures, we are working on our plans to send final rewards to all backers and complete Way of the Fighter fulfillment. Timelines are constantly fluid because they are inextricably linked to Masterclass sales. As such, we can not provide a firm timeline for this final fulfillment step, but it’s getting close. In the meantime, checkout our KS Backer discount code down below for a way to get your items right away!

Relic Knights
Building on the success of the Way of the Fighter model, we are bringing it to Relic Knights to begin getting miniatures in your hands! In fact, we’ve already begun the miniature build up on the first round of products.

Beginning in October, we will be including manufactured plastics, resins, rulebook digest, and card decks into any order a backer makes through ninjadivision.com. Like Way of the Fighter, we will include these items automatically, and any items being fulfilled in this manner will also be available for purchase through our store. Just like all Masterclass purchases, revenue from these products will go towards base expenses to keep Ninja and Soda Pop moving forward and the production of new items to continue the process.

While miniatures are great, the first priority is the rulebook digest and card decks. We want to make sure that you have the materials you and your friends need to start playing!

Super Dungeon
This brings us to Super Dungeon. Needless to say, the size of Super Dungeon makes it the biggest challenge. And since it is all plastic, fulfillment in tiny bites like Way of the Fighter and Relic Knights is currently not feasible.

However, we do have two very exciting ways to allow you to begin playing games with your collection of Super Dungeon miniatures and with future Masterclass releases.

SUPER DUNGEON: CONQUEST

Next week sees the launch of a new range of Super Dungeon Masterclass Miniatures — Super Dungeon: Conquest.

Super Dungeon: Conquest is a skirmish system designed for your Masterclass miniatures. As an extension of the Masterclass line, Conquest provides us with a game system that veterans and purchasers of Masterclass can use their existing collections to play, while allowing us to push the boundaries of Masterclass with new miniature designs and concepts that aren't restricted to the board game. We can also explore more of the world of Crystalia through new stories and new ways to play.

Please note. Conquest will exist purely as a living rulebook. We are investing no capital into Conquest beyond what would already go into Masterclass’ continued expansion.

Last, but certainly not least, we LOVE this style of skirmish campaign game. Super Dungeon: Arena and Ninja All-Stars beat around the edges of it and we felt both of them deserved a worthy successor.

SUPER DUNGEON: EXPLORE - DEVIL ISLAND

Super Dungeon: Explore - Devil Island is designed specifically to get players the core materials you need to play games of Super Dungeon: Explore as affordably as possible.

Devil Island is a complete game and will include all the rulebooks, cards, dice, dungeon tiles, and miniatures that any player needs to play Super Dungeon: Explore. Unique within Devil Island is the Devil Island Adventure Book. This campaign for Super Dungeon: Explore includes narrative adventures, hero quests, unique equipment that Heroes retain from game-to-game, consul power-up cards, new dungeon tiles, and more!

The miniatures from this set will be drawn from the existing range for Clan Ijin, Momotaro and other heroes from Kagejima, and also include Saru, a new exclusive Masterclass miniature.

We are incredibly excited about this set and the possibilities it opens up for Super Dungeon going forward!

Please note. The resources required to create this print-on-demand product, which utilizes existing miniatures and Masterclass miniatures, are in no way equivalent to that of manufacturing and fulfilling the Super Dungeon: Explore 2nd Edition core game. Nor is it a replacement for that reward. Devil Island is us finding creative and cost efficient ways to provide both backers and new customers an easy entry point into playing Super Dungeon: Explore 2nd Edition.

To supplement Devil Island, we will also release a print edition of the Super Dungeon: Explore 2nd Edition core rules. This print edition will include the rulebook, mighty monster chart, tokens, and all essential cards you need to play Super Dungeon. It is designed to be easily playable by anyone with a collection of Super Dungeon miniatures and some common gaming materials such as 1-inch gridded dungeon tiles and six-sided dice. Super Dungeon Legends backers will be able to get this print edition of the core rules at cost.

Super Dungeon: Explore - Devil Island will launch this September. Super Dungeon: Legends Kickstarter backers will receive a discount on Devil Island. We want these entry points to be a way to get you the materials you need to play as efficiently and affordably as we possibly can.

SUPER DUNGEON GOING FORWARD

Super Dungeon’s release cycle will be focused around new Masterclass releases for Conquest, Explore, and Arcade. More specifically, they will all be focused on giving you and your friends ways to play.

Super Dungeon: Conquest will get new and revised rules through its living rulebook. These will be supported by its growing range of Conquest specific Masterclass miniatures.

Super Dungeon: Explore - Devil Island will be followed by Super Dungeon: Arcade - Rocktop Rumble. Additional releases will focus around gameplay releases, including Masterclass miniatures, adventures, and campaign supplements (including adventures from the Kickstarter and released to you).

Thank You!
We know the Kickstarter road has been rough and rocky. The Dark Consul and the Darkspace Calamity have been in full force for some time now, however we here at Soda Pop and Ninja Division do not know the word “defeat” and continue pushing ever forward.

We would like to thank all of you for your patience, the kind words of encouragement we have received, and for your support of the Masterclass miniature line and us. You have made it so that the first year of Masterclass has been a success that we can build on together.

As you can see, our emphasis for this second year of Masterclass is on getting you ways to play games with your collections. The success of these plans, and their ability to continue making gains towards Kickstarter fulfillment, relies a great deal on you playing games and enjoying the new content we are working hard to create for you. The more people we have playing games the faster we can move to each fulfillment step and ultimately move on to the next exciting adventure!

Thank you.

"This update is going out across all three of our Kickstarters: Way of the Fighter, Relic Knights, and Super Dungeon...."

I guess the others that they messed up don't count anymore. *starfinder* cough *starfinder* I suppose they consider their hands washed of their mess on that one since they pawned it off on Prodos/Archon.

Summary from DaveC(sorry. Love ya, but some people don't wanna read anything by 'em these days):

WotF: 50% of minis done, rest being worked on.

Relic Knights: Producing first wave out the butt. Dropping in OCT, Esper decks, upgrade cards and book first priority.

Super Dungeon(this is a woozie):

Conquest: Squad based game involving Masterclass minis.
Rules are 'living'. Dunno about cost.
First minis could be dropping next week. Minis may only work for Conquest.

Devil Island: New Starter.
Seems to be themed around Momotaro, contains Ijin clan, three ronin(Momo, Ondori and Inu) and a new masterclass hero(definitely a monkey).
Not sure if Bomechan and Yobuko get hero cards or are strictly monsters.
Contains Adventure book similar to Legends quests.
Drops in SEPT.
Will not replace 2.0 or Legends. Backers get discount.

Rocktop Rumble- released after Devil Island. Arcade set. No further info.

2.0: Rulebook, cards and chart for Explore. Not sure about release(KS exclusive or what?)

Orlando, Warboss- I remember someone from Paizo saying someone messed things up. It was definitely someone from ND, but not the higher ups.

I find the SDE update confusing. So they're producing a "new" SDE game - using minis from the Ninja game? Also a "skirmish" SDE game - that I'm not really sure how that works? 1on1 fights? And then another at some point in the future.

Are those using the new SDE 3.0 rules that were to be coming from the KS?

Honestly it's been so long since I backed Legends that I don't even really remember what is supposed to be coming.

Looking at their site - wow they've put out a TON of new minis for SDE that I haven't seen.

It's a shame - I really used to love the SDE look and even liked how they were slowly building out the world and the fluff. But things are such a mess now - and there's so much stuff all over - that even if I ever do get my pledge I've lost all interest.

They went too hard and too fast IMO - SDE was in a much better, more sustainable way pre the Kickstarter.

Yes, it seems they're releasing a game format for "league" play, like NAS or "Blood Bowl", but for SDE, based on the NAS Ijin Clan.

But the Kickstarter SDE is 2.0, not 3.0, and Devil Island is supposed to use 2.0 rules.

I've been trying very hard to stay on top of all the changes, but they've put out more models to make money and really squandered the opportunity to expand the world, other than their novels, which I refuse to read.

Was Forgotten King 2.0 though and Legends was a new version of the rules (because people didn't like the 2.0 rules)?

I feel like splitting the rules and deciding to expand everything was a big part of what got them in so much trouble in the first place.

Legends is supposed to be like an RPG. 2.0 is after Forgotten King. Devil's Island is going to be a new starter.

Also, you guys didn't know they redid NAS figs for SD? They've been doing that for three years now.

Short version- the numbering gets messy. The Forgotten King rules are the ones that fans don't like, the 2.0 rules are actually the 3rd edition of the game.

Long version:

Super Dungeon Explore 1 was published by CMON. When SPM split with CMON, they created a second edition of the game with all new monsters, heroes and tiles. The starter for the game's second edition is The Forgotten King (and it is generally considered the worst of the SDE rules sets, though the fan made "lootimeter mode" restores the good parts of first edition).

They decided that they wanted to update the original box to the new rules (with updated minis and tiles). So they presented "Super Dungeon Explore 2nd edition" as an update of the original starter box to the Forgotten King rules. Also, they made it a bit smaller as a starter set, so that they could charge less for it. This was presented as part of the Super Dungeon Legends Kickstarter.

They planned to create some small tweaks to the Forgotten King rules through an open beta- but the fans made it clear that they'd prefer a more drastic overhaul of the FK rules. So the SDE 2.0 rules became a true 3rd edition of the game (but no one changed the name). While the rules have only been available in PDF format, most fans prefer this set of rules above all the previous ones (including some fan made tweaks.

Also, as part of this process, they separated out the coop rules for the game (the Forgotten King set contains both coop and PvP modes of play). So their Super Dungeon Legends box set was now meant to contain the Super Dungeon Legends expansion/game as well as two new core sets for Super Dungeon (Explore= 1vAll and Arcade=Coop).

Unfortunately, they failed to deliver all of these nice things and don't have the money for the plastic production involved. Players who want to play with the current rules set have been doing some print and play.

- And that brings us to the present. If they can grow SDE back to where it once was, they would be able to deliver on the Kickstarter promises, but the game really can't grow without core sets. So they're taking some of the items they have in excess from their previous releases and cobbling together two new core boxes (Rocktop Rumble for Arcade and Devil's Island for Explore mode). We know that the Devil's Island will also include a resin mini (probably a boss).

These two box sets will use mostly the plastic minis that they have on hand and combine them with new tiles and some new resin minis to fill out a core set to play. The idea is to make it so that people who want to play the game do not have to go print their own components (and to have a core product available for new players).

I honestly think it is a good move. I'm waiting to see what the price is, but I admit that as a fan of the game, I will consider getting it.

Maybe they shouldn't have spent the money collected on Starfinder apparentl on their other delinquent projects in a crowdfunding version of musical chairs where everyone but them loses... It's like they learned all the wrong lessons from their interactions with Palladium on Robotech Tactics.

Interesting ...

Weird that it's not using SDE mechanics though (uses D10 dice!)

And I don't see how it lets you use your existing collection to play. That works out OK for bad-guy factions (where a spawn point would have a few types of themed mobs that would conceivably work as grunt-type soldiers) - but one of the starter sets is "knights" - and from the rulebook it seems like only 1-2 of the existing heroes can be added to the starter set. (Where-as the undead have a lot more options)

I like that they minis need to be put together - and surprised that they actually come with some alt heads/weapons/pose-ability.

But $60 for a starter set with 8 minis in it is yowch. (Especially since 3 of those are spawn points). And I just don't see many people clamoring for a very small-scale chibi skirmish game.

More interesting news from SodaPop. Remember when they talked about having a UK store and / or UK distribution hub and then Brexit happened and that seemed like a terrible idea for them? Well, the UK store is here. The email that mentions the arrival of the store and Devil's Island also suggests that the masterclass concept is doing well for them and they have used the funds to 'catch up' as far as Relic Knights 2.0, and that RK is poised to be next for.. something. Super Dungeon Explore Devil's Island is also up for pre-order. This seems to be the first official SDE 2.0 product as it contains a printed 2.0 rulebook, though by the looks of it, it uses Ninja All Stars minis. Kind of feels like they had an excess of All Stars minis in the warehouse and they created a standalone SDE product to use them up. Works for me though as I like the theme and I'll probably pick up a copy since SDE Legends backers get a discount.

I've just had an account actvation email from the new UK site and having done so I can see my actual outstanding orders for the first time in ages (they owe me more than I had remembered)

but I think it's another promising sign that they may eventually get to the point of fulfilling relic knights...…. and then on to SDE

(and giving the crazy shipping prices from the USA now it means the masterclass minis are a bit more affordable over here too)

For info, I backed Relic Knights 2.0 at the $150 2.0 Kickstarter level, and just received my initial shipment to the UK. This included the following from the pledge level, labelled as "RK-KS-bundle #1":

1x 64-page full colour digest rulebook from the starter set (smaller than A5, is not the full 112 rulebook from the KS)

1x Esper deck (which I believe is half of what you need to play the full game)

1x Leopold Magnus Questing Knight (2 models)

1x Pit Crew (2 models)

...and that's it. No unit cards, nor some of the other items we thought might be in stock for this wave.

The quality of all the new stuff is good (not the crispest resin I've seen, but much better than the old PVC), but it's just...a bit underwhelming, almost 3 years from the original projected delivery.

Still, there are several Kickstarters where the company just disappeared into the ether with my money, and I can see that an effort is being made. Ninja Division has had almost £500 from me across Relic Knights 2.0 and SDE 2.0, so it's just particularly frustrating.

Yeah, it's got to be annoying to be in your situation. On the other hand, as you note, they are making an effort to get stuff out to everyone. It's safe to say that in the meantime, they're going to have trouble crowdfunding stuff, so they are experiencing some hardship as a result. And assuming that they manage to dig themselves out of the fiscal hole that they've put themselves into, people will be more cautious about backing them.

On the other hand, if they do manage to get themselves out of the fiscal hole that they've put themselves into -

First, I'll be impressed. As you note, many companies just bail in this sort of situation. The fact that they appear to be making a good-faith effort to get product out (even if it is ridiculously late) is a positive sign. And second, hopefully they'll be more cautious and realistic with funding efforts going forward.

For some, not everyone. There has been no news or movement on their part for the Starfinder campaign nor will there ever be in all likelihood as they've passed the buck permanently. I don't follow their other campaigns though so can't comment on them.

I suspect even if they wanted to they couldn't do anything for starfinder since it was a licenced property and Paizo pulled the plug when it was clear things were going to go nowhere

I believe Archon is now handling that for paizo, and has at least some of it done and available if you order anything from them ( or maybe if you pay postage?)

[I suspect you know this, but just in case somebody reading this thread doesn't]

I had sunk over $430 into the Relic Knights KS. I did buy a few masterclass to help them out and they shipped almost half of the addons i put in the list recently. I pretty much wrote it off a few years back. I am glad to have atleast got something. They have some great sculpts and I hope they pick up some momentum to finish their KS's and stay in business.

There's been a slow but steady churn of new SDE content getting released I've noticed. I was quite taken aback out how many new models they've released when I last checked their page.

A lot of the newer figures are just that- figures with no rules or anything else included, with the intent of putting them out for their new skirmish game mode (which has all the rules available for free if you're interested in trying it out).

I may have to grab a few new heroes before the year ends though. I'd written off Ninja Division as well, but the fact that we're seeing movement again on Relic Knights gives me some hope that we'll actually see Legends make it to the shelves in some form.

Living in hate is pointless, especially when the alternative is not having anything at all for the brands you still love and enjoy. I still like their miniatures' designs.

That doesn't mean I forgave them for what happened in their previous KSers, though. Nor that I forgot.

I don't think their prior actions were malicious, but they definitely mismanaged their KS system and started digging a hole they could only dig deeper. They've worked remarkably hard to make good on their failings.

That said, I'm still out on Legends, and while I may be willing to buy releases from them, I won't be preordering or kickstarting anything from them until something happens with that.

Getting back to SPM/ND, I ultimately ended up selling off a fair chunk of my SDE collection because it failed to 'bring joy' to me when I saw it in my closet. I've unsubscribed to this thread, and won't even be posting here again, as I gain nothing from it.

Anyhow, good luck to you all in the coming year. Hopefully, things will finally start to unfeth themselves on multiple fronts.

So, yeah, fast forward 3 years and things did not, in fact, unfeth themselves. Sodapop / ND have shut up shop and anyone who didn't get their SDE or Relic Knight pledges isn't going to be getting anything.

Not that, after all these years, it was ever likely to happen.

Ho-hum.

Yeah.
At this point I never expect to see the other minis they owe me. I kind of wish they'd just send out STLs for the stuff they owe so I can just get the few minis I care about printed.

Shame. Relic Knights is a good game and was one of the foundational Kickstarters that set the format of wargame croudfunding in 2012.

Just to clarify, Sodapop and Ninja Division are distinct (but obviously related and largely co-owned and co-staffed by the same folks) legal entities and the closure of one doesn't necessarily mean the closure of the other. I believe in some of the financials they published (or came out?) years ago with their slew of failures to produce rewards showed that the first thing that ND did when a crowdfunding finished was pay Soda a "licensing fee" right off the top from the total amount. Just like KS, they always get their cut even when it's literally the left hand paying the right. The article also failed to mention the collossal mess that was the Robotech RPG tactics campaign that they ran and abandoned for Palladium but admittedly the majority of the stink of failure there lays squarely on Kevin Siembieda/Palladium Books.

Shame, but not really a surprise. I'm out $160 bucks, but it's too bad it had to come to this.

Had to come to this? Nah, it's almost always a choice to make a series of bad decisions.

Usually true, though in this case I think they did their best. Started with heart trouble, finished off by a global crisis that demolished the production route they were using. I don't think they're without blame, but they seem to have owned up to it and done what they could to turn things around rather than cut their losses and run.

Jarek just confirmed on the livestream that Archon are owed $150,000 by ND that they’ll never see a penny of so they’ve left a trail of significant debts.

I’d long written this off so no surprise but from 91 KS backed this is the only one that didn’t deliver me anything some others failed after the initial delivery when the money ran out. There was always something shady about the way they set up the licensing fees to SPM.

Seems like they did cut their losses and run, last KS update for any of their outstanding products was 3 months short of 3 YEARS ago and that weasel John blocks and bans anyone asking about it on social media!

Maybe the better phrase is take the money and run. It's pretty clear they actually spent it trying to get the games out and ran out of funds to complete the projects. They've at least tried to make enough money to to finish things off, but its not going to happen. The costs on these things are rising way too fast to ever catch up. I don't feel like anyone came out ahead on this one.

I agree though that the STLs of completed models and a digital release of the Beta ruleset would have been a fair concession to how they described the project failing. It is now far more feasible for backers to self-print, and could have allowed at least a dedicated fan base to recoup some of the several hundred dollars they likely put in. The approach they took on SDE gave nobody anything, and only served to theoretically preserve the IP for a future buyer.

No, the writing was on the wall the moment they created a shell company with the same ownership, you do that when you know your business isn't gonna work out and you need to park money somewhere were liquidation can't touch it. Every single thing that happened after that was already in bad faith.

I wrote it off years ago - but still a bummer. I was owed some stuff from the last SDE KS AND I had picked up a few misc models from the Relic Knights 2.0 KS.

It's a shame - because SDE was a great game, and on a nice, sustainable path for growth for a small company (doing one expansion plus 1-2 mini bosses a year).

Then they did the big 2.0 KS, which was nice and delivered but flooded the market with kits and gave everyone who was interested in SDE 3+ years worth of content. And IIRC it was like, less than a year after that got delivered that they launched the next big SDE KS.
