Those two old inquisition figures are super awesome. Amazing work. I too love the model you used for the savant. I have been collecting inquisition minis recently as a planned follow-up to my chaos army. I have the 'savant' as well as a lot of others that I'm excited to paint, though I know they won't look anywhere near as well done as yours. I think they're some of the most unique and interesting of all the GW miniatures I've seen so far. Your work on them is inspired and inspiring.

I got Corvus Corax for myself and also the HH weekender exclusive Costodes chap.....Ixion something or other. Beautiful sculpt. The other character box is Mhara Gal - wordbearers tainted dreadnought. Gonna paint him up this coming month on stream and then give hi away at the end of March.

Updates!!!!
Been insanely busy of late. Streaming nearly 6 days a week, then went back home to Ireland for 3 week hols, nipped over to england to meet up with a few other creative streamers for a visit to Warhammer World (credit card still in recovery) and now back in Korea again in time to start back to work tomror. Phew!!!! Have been getting some painting in and progress made. First we have a wee barabarian fella from Corvus Miniatures I painted on stream to show a few techniques re: materials and metals and then gave away at the end of January to a viewers. Eisenhorn is pretty much finally done and assmebled and has a base finally ready for him too with a few details to tie into the Eisenhorn narrative. Started on his arch nemesis and eventual ally (o.O?) the daemonhost Cherubael. Cherubael will be based on a base from the same range as Eisenhorn to tie them further together. Nearly finished another of the beautiful deathwatch from Deathwatch:Overkill - Jetek Suberai of the white scars. Just need to weather/damage the bike and paint his oversized pigeon. Finally - ol'Stoney himself - Judge Dredd. Another creative streamer, M0rt75 gifted him to me at WHW as he knew I had grown up on a steady diet of Dredd and 2000ad but had never actually painted a Dredd figure. So we've now made a start on him too!! Phew. I've also started on a Mhara Gal word-bearers tainted dread which I got in WHW. Beautfully detailed figure. I'll be paintign him up in March for a viewer giveaway at the end of that month.

Suberei (White Scar) looks awesome! I really like the subtle power field you've done there with his power sword.
Eisenhorn looks suitably grim lol. Did you decide who is having what base?

Outstanding work Steve!
All the little touches really combine to pay off on the model. Shades of brown for different textures, the purple where his implants penetrate the skin, the subtle marble textures on his shoulder pads and scroll cases. I could go on and on, but...
Absolutely lovely work.

Post by: Januine
Thanks a million Az.I can honestly say he was one of the most enjoyable minis I've ever painted. Didnt want it to end in a way. Great sculpt for one of the best characters (imho) to ever come out of GW. Next comes..........Cherubael!!!

Evening Dakkateers!! Thought I'd pop up a few snaps of a few things I've been working on these days.
First up a bit of FW goodness - a Word Bearers' Mhara Gal tainted dread. Loooove this model ; so much deliciously corrupted detail. Armour was painted mostly with glazes. Took a while but really happy with the effect. Still a bit to do but getting there will be sorry to see him go when I give him away later this month
Also been working on a few orks for a commission as well. Loadsa fun with the metals
And a little bit of work on a Judge Dredd model that was given to me by another streamer who found it amusing that I grew up on 2000ad and Judge Dredd but had never painted a mini of him. He's tiny and I decided to use him to practice a bit of nmm. What the hell was i thinking??!!! Lol
Have also started work on Cherubael the daemonhost from the old Inq54 range but nothing really to show just yet. That's all fir now folks

Heya Bottle. Been busy as buggery. Work n streaming a lot but the paint is still flowing. Working on Judge Dreed, some orky commissionings, Deathwtch (of course!!) and Cherubael for some 54mm love!!!
92803
Post by: ZergSmasher
I recently acquired a 54mm miniature of my own from the Inquisitor range, that being Quovandius. He's not high on my priority list for paint or anything, but are there any special things you need to do to paint something in the bigger scale? Assemblywise I'm already figuring I'm going to have to pin him to hold him together.
91816
Post by: Januine
Yup pins. Gotta be done. heavy buggers those 54s. nothing massively different in the painting just be aware that transitions and the like show up a lot more starkly than on 28s. keep it smooth as possible adn enjoy

Post by: Azazelx
Great stuff you've been putting together, Jan. Love that Marble on Celestine's armour, and the Mhara Gal Contemptor looks fantastic. The only thing I don't really like as much is that your showcase pictures in the frames seem to have the contrast cranked up much more from your WIP pictures, so we lose a lot of the subtlety in the painting.
91816
Post by: Januine
hmmmmm - intersting. The wip shots are just shot on my iphone with no background but the showcases are done with my Canon Eos but i never really go near the contrast as the lights n lightbox (and camera settings of course) give me the look i want. i prefer the strong look mind you rather than a more washed out shot which the phone gives. Thanks though. I might try and give lighter look next time I'm using the big camera though and see how it looks.

How are you applying the rust effect?
It looks brilliant as usual, you have a style all your own that is just wonderful.
91816
Post by: Januine
Cheers all. Cam - the rust is layers of thinned down doombull brown, agrax, skragg brown layers. build up in thin thin layers. agrax for shadow lines, doombull as the darker larger rusting areas and then skragg spots for the orangey full on rust patches

Been insanely busy of late, b/t RL, streaming, commission and so on. Finally managed to get proper photos of the finished Cypher and Cherubael taken. Still need tp process Cherubael but here's Cypher. Painted him up entirely on stream and then did a giveaway for him on the 1K followers celebration stream so he will soon be winging his way to Finland - as soon as I can get to the post office. Happy how he came out. Tried out a new black armour workup which am well happy with
And there he is. Will try and get Cherubael up in the next few days. Until then - hope you like how the Lord of the Fallen came out

They look amazing Jan, those bases tie them together beautifully. The strapping on Cherub is a real standout feature to me, it has such depth in the browns, it's very realistic.

Thanks so much everyone. They were a long paint but defintely worth every hour! @nerdfest and @Az - the bases are from MicroArtStudio - they do a crazy amount of differnt themed bases. The 'arcane' ones seemd to fit Eisenhorn and Cherubael perfectly to complement the duo. I've got different ones picked out for the rest of the Inq54 models I have and will be working on once I've got the commissions I'm working on now done. The two death cult assassins will be getting some nice mosiac bases, Quovandius the mutant and his 2 headed rat will be getting some scrapyard bases and so on. All from same company. Love their products

cheers very much Nerdy i do all the metalwork first - 3 different metallics (warplock bronze- overbrush, ghenna's gold- stipple, runefang steel- drybrush) then wash with a nuln/agrax mix. then comes staining just using shades, washes and the like. rust next - doombull brown for dark rust, skrag brown in centrew spots for bright. the panel that is all chipped paint - two layers of MiG scratch effects chipping fluid. when totally dry - 2 thin layers of ushabti bones. wash with valejo streaking grime. scrub some of it off with clean wet briush. let totally dry then with water adn a hard bristle stippling brush reactivate the chipping fluid and scrub off some of the ushabti bone layer to show the metals underneath. fially go back in with streaking grime and increase the green much in the recesses. pick out some of the 'diamonds' in the grip plate with bright silver. basically thats it.
final weathering is in this VoD somewhere - lol https://www.twitch.tv/videos/155890257

In the interim, here's a little tickle of what I've started on for my own collection. 54mm brother Artemis from the old Inquisitor range. He'll be my third of this range and I just love the scale. Worked on his left arm yesterday. Not finished but getting there. Hope you like

Is that the same Artemis from the 40k Death Masque set? Same character, I mean; it's obviously a different model if it's 54mm after all. If so, that'll be a cool thing to see! If not, I'm sure it'll still be cool.

Great work on Morty here. The individually weathered and corroded armour plates give the model a level of care and detail that it deserves. I've seen a few too many of these that just look drybrushed with silver and hit with a wash to represent worn armour.
Nice strong start to Artemis as well. I do like the effect you have on his blade.

Thank you so much everyone. Really happy how Mortarion came out. He was a long project but so worth it. The brass trim on some of the armour panels was a pain!! Had a lot of fun with this one. He needed to be grubby and battleworn but still identifable both as a primarch and also of his legion's colours. Fine balance to strike so that he doesnt just look like some dirty ol angry warrior. The sculpt is gorgeous, probably my favourte of the FW primarachs, even though his character is an utter arse, they really did a great job! Artemis is coming along - been working on his black battle plate but he'll be taking a bit of a backseat now as I start on Guilly. Updates soon~ish

By far the best rendition of Guilliman I've ever seen dude. You've captured the grimdark feel very well without making him look straight up grimy, I tough act to balance but you did it brilliantly.
91816
Post by: Januine
@nerdfest - thank you so much. It really was a fun one to work on. Lot less hassle considering the bloody trim he has than I thought it would be. The client's only instructions (and what sold me on accepting the job) were that he was to be a member of the deathwatch!! Really chuffed how the blue flame and steel sword came out - soooo sick of seeing a million red/orange flame swords, had to try something different. I swapped out the chaos marine on the base for a converted 'stealer. Seemed more in keeping with the DW theme
@I_F - cheers matey. Wanted him battle worn but not battered to bits. He is still a primarch after all - needed to try and retain some of that stature. He's winging his way to his forever ever home now.........was a tough one to send. lol

Cheers guys. He's a 54mm sculpt. I used a milliput to fill out the core of the throne where the bits interlock (badly) and then greenstuff for gap fill and to rescukpt some extra cloak where the main body didnt reach the back of the throne properly. JB Weld for assmebly. The assmebly was a dickto do but once done the fun could start. Luckliy I reallylike painting cloth adn materials otherwiseit would have been a looooooooooooooooong paint....well, it was anyways but fun all the same!! Layering and glazing gave for a nice smooth but full effect. I'm using darkstar molten metals for all the metalwork; throne and armour. Three amazing pieces Jan and they're all so different they really show off the breadth of your skills. The robes on Doom are a standout feature for him, so beautifully done. The leather on the Chaplain is my favourite (though that's no surprise, you are the undisputed king of leather... yeah I mean that in any way you want to take it ) . Like seriously man your leather technique is top notch, one day I'll find a suitable model to practice on. Lastly that bloat drone is perfectly foetid. I love the design choice of making the scratches have red gore in them, it takes an otherwise sci-fi fantasy model and adds that touch of realism that makes you feel uncomfortable with it. In a good way of course. Great work dude.

Loving that inquisitor! The base is really cool and fitting for him. The girl about to be eaten by zombies is pretty well done too.

Cheers. The base i had a lot of fun with. No real plan just playing abut with colour and technique. The base is frm one of my sponsors MicroArts. mosaic line i think. I'vebeen reading the current Inquisitor Covenant book and that base seemed to go nicely with the story. he's getting there. Still a bit of finsihing up to do. Next month am hoping to be doing a little admech...... 54m admech

For legal reasons, we can't actually call this model (with a broken sword) Ciri from The Witcher 3 - I think she is officially a Witch Hunter, or something like that

broken sword and eyeless no longer!!!

Cheers folks. This month will be moving on to the Navis Nobilite Navigator from the same line.

Ooh, a Navigator. I'll be looking forward to that, as I've been wondering what those guys are supposed to look like. I always seem to picture the grotesquely mutated things from Dune.

The navigator model is really nice. nothing like Dune - lol

Yeah, no freight car spice gas tanks for the Navis Nobilite. A cool model, though. Excited to see your version.
Covenant is superb. Like he walked right out of the rulebook. With a better base.

What range are these guys from? I don't recognize them from inquisitor.

He's still from the old Inq54 range just one of the rarer ones. Usualy go for silly prices on ebay but was lucky enough to have another streamer sell him to me at 'not-ebay' price!!

A very happy Christmas and hobbyfull new year folks!! The mammy is over visiting us here in SK for the hols so been busy as hell. So where are we at? As usual working on way too many things at the same time but at least managing to finish a few! Let’s have a wee look
Finally got St. Celestine all finished up and then promptly gave her away on stream! Fun model to work on but doing marble armour again.........hmmmmm.... maybe not
And my first ever KD:M mini finally got finished too - 'The Thief' such a stunning mini and a lot of fun to do
As for stuff still not done....................
still plodding away on the BellaFella..... he's been more of a demonstration piece on stream to show a few ways of doing old metals and chipped armour but hope to get him finsihed soon so I can move onto the rest of the DG stuff from Dark Imperium
The 54mm Navigator is getting there.......not happy with his sleeves though. very happy with his old face mind
and finally Ciri, dear Ciri.......... she is so close to being done. Just her belt stones and then some finishing touches to her hair and face to go. Excuse the blue(yellow) tac still holding her together - lol. Have loved getting to work on so much leather on her and trying out a few new ideas along the way. Bloody gorgeous sculpt
Well - thats where we;re at. How much I'll get done over the next week or so is .............well.........we'll see. Got some sweet stuff coming up in January both on and off stream. Starting work on one of the new Creature Caster minis which they very kindly sent me as part of new sponsorship. BIG models there!

The thief and Celestine look beautiful. I know marble can be tedious but your results were totally worthwhile. Ciri is coming along very nicely, she's going to be a standout piece once complete.
