Looks pretty good honestly, if I had to nitpick I'd probably drop the venatari. This frees up for a few options I really like. But again you'll be fine either way,l this is just my 2 cents.

I went back and forth on the venatari for quite a bit against a pair of terminators and an assassin. The main factor was a measure of certainty they offer, so I decided on them for a few reasons:
1) Free rapid ingress. With CPs at a premium and needing to save them for critical strategems, getting that free use plus their movement grantees that I can engage the most valuable target or steal an important objective. The terminators, while tougher and cheaper, can't do the same even if I did RI them due to their slower movement.
2) Can't be tied down in a protracted fight.
3) They are very choppy and shooty, and will probably destroy most targets they go after.

Even so, they are the unit I'm most unsure of in this list and we'll have to see how they do with some field testing.

Second caladaius + veiled blade on champ

Allarus terminators squad of 2, another guard in that squad, and an exaction squad/voidsmen at arms

Bringing Wardens to 6 and guard to 5 + veiled blade on champ

A different approach is figuring out how to fit in a brick of 10 guard and throw ceaseless hunter on the captain following them but thats more of a list tweak than a swap out.


I think inprefer options 2 and 3 but I love caladius' so had to throw that in there.

Quick note is you want primarily guardian spears on everything nowadays, it's just so much better for dmg, I've been running 4 spears 1 shield ratio(vexila/miscandria at 5 man, ad a sentinal/shield at 10)

I definitely agree that spears are the better option, but I have six sword and board built and painted from way back when they gave a 1+ save and I'm not about to undo that. Perhaps down the line I'll swap them for more wardens and an enhancement on the shield cap.

At 1k points I'm not sold on playing a unit of 10 shield guard, even if it is an unmovable deathstar. Too many eggs in one basket and all.
