The axes are from the BT sprue and Assault squad kits if this helps anyone
Looking great btw Knightley
All the akimbo marines are awesome! I wanna see 2 thunder hammers
Your updating too fast for me to catch up Also, when is your game against LDP and Proto? Oh, and remind Proto to take pics for me if it hasn't happened yet he promised he would
great as ever, too
Wow really liking the face markings and the cloak although sorry for nit picking but the sword on the right shoulder pad looks the tinyest bit messy along the edges. other then that top notch model as usuall
@Bigfish - Thank you for your careful eye, you are entirely right with the sword and when I get a chance I will try to fix it up, trying to fit the micro pen in the gap between the teleporter pack and the pad wasn't easy to get a good line on it
@Gits - Cheers mate
@Iron Father - thanks
@M.K - Yeah I realised that I have 4 faces all the same so I decided to break up the same looking face by doing stubble on the head, face paint and a scar on another.
Update: Next marine started, then first stage grey done (its a new marine not a repaint as well)
Matt.Kingsley wrote:So o ave doble fist, doble axe ad doble sword
ad I ave a keboard tat is goi to agai...
Great work!
(woot, fiall soetig o ca read properl!)
Now that i'm using the good keyboard I can translate what I said into english
Matt.Kingsley wrote:So you have double fist, double axe and double sword and I have a keyboard that is going to again... Great work! (woot, fially something you can read properly!)
EDIT: of course, it would help if I'd stop confusing english with indonesian (I kid I kid, but I still managed to miss-spell 'you'...)
@Proto - it's so I can have a stronger bond as typically I am gluing a painted surface to another painted surface and the bond is much weaker than with plastic to plastic
@M.K - Nah, I do have magnets I could try a fully combo'd out marine though (might be a future project)
@LDP - Will do a batrep, however will have to try to remember everything that went down
@Proto - those death company, totally kicked my ass... grumble grumble about stealing initiative
@M.K - It ended up being quite close, had it not been 3 VP's for objectives and if the game had gone into another turn things would have been very different.
I can recollect alot of events too, and there wont be any favouritism towards the honour filled legendary Ultramarines >.> <.<
PM me if you need a hand
Damn nice marine Knightley! the face especially, have you glazed it with a purple/blue tint this time? it looks much more realistic than the previous ones? not that they were in ANY way bad but this one just really pops in my eyes! you've got such a fantastic style and I love seeing what you do! bravo dude!
Well, i'd say the dice worked in favour as follows: Proto (by alot) Knightley (by a bit) | | | | v LDP (awful, but I still have faith in my 'lucky dice'!)
@Childe - it's up to 5 assault marines, there will be 2 sets of pictures once I do the Stormraven, Landspeeder and remaining assault squad. First one will be all the models I've completed this push including the GMS marines I've been sent. The second one will be another army shot for the front page (which you should check out if you haven't already done so )
@Iron Father - Cheers!
@M.K - True, I don't have the codex however, so wouldnt be sure of the difference in points cost etc.
@Nerdfest - Thanks man, been a while since I've seen you comment on the blog, I must have really done something right the face started off as normal but I did do a little bit of purple wash in and around the eye area.
@LDP - Yeah man you need to get new dice, blue isn't working out for ya.
Battle report below!
Spoiler:
Ultramarines + Blood Angels Vs Gray Nights + Grey Knights - 1500 point game Mission: Big guns never tire (Heavy can claim objectives even tanks there is 4 objectives)
Deployment: along the diagonal, I placed one in my far corner in behind ruins, another placed on the Skypad, another in some ruins, the last placed amongst Ageis defense barriers
I won the roll to deploy
Whirlwind goes into the very far right corner and sits on the indirectly firing on whatever it wants. Inquisitor + Grey Knights in a Razorback deploy with a tactical squad 1 on my left flank, inside them is the Autocannon Dreadnaught. On my right flank is the Missile launcher Devastator squad, the Captain and Command squad in a Razorback with a tactical squad the solitary Vindicare assassin is in the tower.
LDP and Proto set up, Death company behind the Skypad the Blood Angel assault squad start in a bastion, The Ultramarines have both tanks next to each other aiming for the closest two objectives, the scouts deploy next to them, On the far side the Ultramarine command squad loiter near the Blood Angel assault squad.
They roll and seize initiative, buggers.
LDP/Proto’s Turn 1 Death company jump forward to in front of the Skypad and shoot at the Devastators, but fail to kill and take a plasma pistol wound in return on the Reclusiarch. Blood Angel Assault squad jumps out of the tower and fail one dangerous terrain and the armor save, marine down, bugger. The Ultramarine Command squad move up towards the Vinidicare but are out of range to shoot. Ultramarine tanks move towards the ruins Objective and the scouts head over to the Ageis Objective. Death company attempt to assault the Devastator squad but fail the charge distance, they are now caught out in the open….
My Turn 1 Inquisitor Razorback moves left towards the Ageis defense barriers, Tactical squad 1 disembark from their Rhino, Dreadnaught waddles back a bit, the Devastator squad holds position. My Command squad Razorback rolls back and the Command squad disembark. Tactical squad 2’s Rhino moves around the building to head off the Ultramarine command squad. Inquisitor Razorback shoots at the scouts, 3 hits, 3 wounds, 3 dead scouts, very successful. However this is where the shooting fell to pieces. A whirlwind, Rhino, Tactical squad 1, Dreadnaught, Devastator squad, Command squad and their Razorback all shoot at the Death company, the number of marines who died… 1.
My Vindicare shoots at Ultramarine Command squad and rips the Apothecary a new eye hole in his forehead. Tactical Squad 2’s Rhino and two of its passengers fire at Ultramarines Command squad and take 1 Marine down.
LDP/Proto’s Turn 2 Ultramarine Scouts head over to the Agies objective and bunker down, The Ultramarine Razorback moves right and the Sternguard and Captain move to control the objective, The Ultramarine Rhino moves out to the open and disgorges out his Tactical squad, Blood Angel Death company move to within an inch of the Devastator squad, the Blood Angel assault squad jumps in front of the Tactical squad 2’s Rhino, the Ultramarine Command squad hold up where they are. Shooting for this is a little worse for wear, however the Sternguard shoot through the ruins and take out my Sargent from Squad 1. The heavy bolter on the Razorback shoots at the Inquisitors Razorback but doesn’t do anything, the Ultramarines Tactical squad shoots at my Tactical squad 1, and no one dies saved due to misses, not wounding and armor saves (very lucky) The Death company mince the Devastators with ease, but not before their overwatch obliterate 2 Death company (yes, I got 2 sixes on Krak missiles, yes!) they consolidate closer to my Command squad.
On my right flank the assault squad explodes the Rhino and loses another Marine in the resulting explosion, I also lose 1 as well this is followed up by the Ultramarines rhino shooting at the rear of the squad and kills another of the marines. The Ultramarines Command squad shoots at the Vindicare but fail to kill due to two lucky 5+ invulnerable saves. The Blood Angel Assault squad tries to assault the cratered Tactical squad 2 and horribly fail their charge, on top of that lose another to the overwatch (should leave them 1 marine)
My Turn 2 Inquisitor Razorback moves further up and disembarks the Grey Knight squad to the edge of the ruins, the Inquisitor Razorback can’t see the scouts so pot shots at the Ultramarines Razorback but does nothing.
The Tactical squad 1 and their Rhino move right, so too does the Dreadnaught. My Command squad, rather than be assaulted decided to assault first, the Command squad Razorback drives up. On the right flank, the ruins Tactical squad 2 moves out of the wreckage and to within an inch of the Blood Angel assault marine. Shooting is ok in this round, the whirlwind deviates a bit still hitting 3 marines and takes 1 down, the Tactical squad, Rhino and Dreadnaught all unleash on the Ultramarines Tactical squad and take it all down to 5 members. The Grey Knight Squad opens fire on the Sternguard and only manages to kill 2 of them.
The Ruins Tactical squad 2 assault the lone Blood Angel assault marine and take him down and consolidate closer to the Skypad. The Vinidicare shoots at the Death company and fails to wound (yes I rolled a 1) My Command squad then charge in and lose 2 marines, the Death company lose none, bugger.
LDP/Proto’s Turn 3 Ultramarines Razorback moves right and shoots at my Command squads Razorback doing nothing, the Ultramarines Rhino moves right and shoots at Tactical squad 2 taking one down, the Sternguard in the ruins moves closer to the Grey Knight force to shoot, the Captain separates from the squad. The Ultramarines Tactical squad consolidates to the center and decide to try a multimelta shot at the Razorback, but fail to do any damage, the Sternguard take down 2 Grey Knights’s and the captain tries a shot at the Inquisitor Razorback and fails to hit. The Ultramarine Command squad fire at the Tactical squad 2 and take some more down, the squad is left with 4 marines.
My turn 3 The Inquisitor Razorback moves up to the Ageis defense cover and rips into the two remaining scouts who promptly die. The Grey Knight squad assault and destroy the Sternguard and consolidate onto the objective, the Tactical squad 1 move up to an inch from the Ultramarines Tactical squad and shoot pistols and take the squad down to 2 marines and then follows up with an assault taking them all down but losing one in response, they consolidate onto the Razorbacks front armour. The dreadnaught moves right and shoots at the Ultramarines Rhino and destroys the storm bolter. My Command squad takes enough wounds to have the captain down to 1 wound all by lonesome and does nothing in return.
My command squads Razorback moves around the building and shoots at the Ultramarines Command squad and kills one. Tactical squad 2 moves up to the Skypad and runs to the objective and hunkers down. The Vindicare shoots, misses on a 1, rerolls for having a ballistic skill over 6 and misses the second roll, he needs to go back for more training I think.
LDP/Proto’s Turn 4 Ultramarines Command squad shoots at the Vindicare and finally takes him down. The Ultramarines Rhino tries to ram the Command squad Razorback but ends up doing a strength 2 hit so nothing eventuates. The Ultramarines Captain charges the Grey Knight squad and issues a challenge to the Inquisitor, who accepts, then get pummeled losing 2 wounds and only taking 1 off of the Captain, he passes his morale and doesn’t die, The Ultramarines Razorback fires at the Tactical squad 2 and takes one down. The Death company rip the last remaining wound from my captain and consolidate towards the Agies defense cover.
My turn 4 The Inquisitor and Ultramarines captain trade blows but ends in a stale mate after I managed to save 2 wounds and couldn’t wound him back, my Tactical squad 1 in front of the razor back decide to open up on the newly free Death company, along with the Inquisitor Razorback, Rhino and Dreadnaught taking them down to 2 marines, hard buggers.
Game ends, Knightley 6 VPLDP/Proto 4 VP
Very fun game and had it gone to extra time might have been a loss for me
At the end of the game, all I had to do was get the last member of the death company under the skysheild and contest the objective, If we had one more turn we could've won! But alas, the dice gods were not in our favour.
@Proto - Certainly was fun, and even with all the death happening there was only 2 VP's in it.
@LDP - Just use my GK dice
@M.K - ..... You're a regular to the blog and you still missed that I have Grey Knights and Gray Nights
@Gits - Thanks, I hope to have the assault squad being very dynamic
@Graven - It was very brutal, I did learn a bit though, DC don't like krak missiles and plasma guns, I also learned that my troops don't like DC in close combat.
Update: I leave for Las Vegas on Saturday for a week and I want to try get as much of the land speeder done in this time, but problem is its a fiddly effin model and I already don't like it, so who knows what will happen.
so all base colors done and washed
Accessories
Hey, Knighly. Wow, impressive work. I have always liked the design elements in the Grey Knights fluff and that land speeder is awesome. I want to do a pre-heresy one for myslf, though.
I noticed earlier in the thread (admittedly without having read it all) that yiu are going to Las Vegas. I will be retiring there in about two years. Do you go there often or is this an atypical trip? Anyway, keep up the good work and I will check in later.
prototype_X wrote: WHAT! You aren't taking your models with you? What else could there possibly be to entertain you while you're in vegas? You'll get bored!
I jest of course, have fun mate!
I second this... been to Vegas twice... both times I honest to god got bored lols...
Looks great, as always Knightley. My only point of concern would be the sword on top of the gunners hood. Seems a bit off. His sword may be crooked.........
I hope those fabulous-looking wing panels are secured to the landspeeder winglets with unobtanium-based glue, because I forsee them breaking off at every opportunity.
As always, gorgeous work. That screams "High speed attack vehicle"!
@MeatShield - Coming together? Did I miss something when I made it?
@Iron Father - I have a couple of shots on the front page of this blog and there will be another one once I finish 5 assault marines and the Stormraven
@Gits - Thank you!
@Ice - Yes your right with the sword, once the Ink is fully dry I might try to fix it up good spotting
@Briancj - I used plastic glue with plastic on plastic so it should last about 3 weeks... or until I pack it into the carry case
@Miss Dee - Cheers
@M.K - Thanks
@Graven - I used two sections of plastic card for each wing part, the outermost part ended up with a chamfered edge to mimic the Spacemarine edges you see on vehicles such as landraiders, the other parts are just stuck on to break up the large undetailed part. I got my inspiration from here
Awsome just awsome Knightley! Man got cought up on your blog and other of my favorite peeps on Dakka ajd you and Nerdfest09 been really burning the midnight oil on your armies. Now I gotta catch up to you guys in the amount of models you guys completed. Keep up the great work.
Wow Knightley... that is one special marine. From the shield to the sword and everything in-between. Very impressive. You're getting better and better each mini that you paint.
You pace is great. I spend 5 hours painting yesterday and only compeleted completed 3 assault marines. The best part is that your pace has not compromised the quality of your work. Keep it up.
5 was the last of the repaints (IE: the first 5 of the squad) Number six was done a bit earlier (before the landspeeder IIRC) double flamer would have been totally boss!
Knightley wrote: @Gits - Thank you, I wonder if I am getting better or perhaps my technique is becoming more ingrained and so I can keep at a certain level?
Maybe I'm imagining things, but I think I see more subtlety in your more recent work. It always looked great, but it's starting to look a bit more refined to my eye.
Knightley wrote: Yeah the rest will be double swords, means that in a pinch I can use them as GK interceptors with falchions, also any word on the GMS marine?
Sounds like a plan! And on the GMS marine, yeah, haven't really go much done... need to make sure that Proto still wants trade a marine with me, too, and that it ould be ok that if he did, I send both at the same time.
Also had another game Vs my normal DE opponent and got absolutely smashed, this is the second game in a row in 6th edition I've faced him and each time it's gone horribly wrong. I went with a GK force this time (As the SM army I tried almost got tabled) and there seemed nothing I could do right to counter his super fast vehicles and ridiculous amounts of attacks in close combat. Has anyone played any DE and have tips/lists I could try?
Grandmaster with MC hammer and rad nades
Techmarine + rad nades
2 x 10m Terminator sqauds with psybolt, 2 psycannons, 4 halberds, 2 hammers Justicar's was Master crafted
Dreadknight with incinerator and greatsword
Psyrifleman dread with psybolt
Vindicare assassin
His army,
2 raiders with 10 wyches each with nets and power weapon
1 Ravager
2 venoms, one with archon and guys with 2 handed klav thingy's
5 swooping hawk dark eldar thing, the ones with bat wings
8 DE jetbikes
1 Razorwing jet fighter
Having had my SM force destroyed by his DE and his AP3 weapons I wanted to try a terminator army to see if it would allow me to last longer....
Deployed short table edge, I was given first turn, kept terms in reserve and depolyed assassin in reinforced cover, dread behind a building and NDK behind the closest cover I could get to the centre of the board
He deployed his models over 36 inches away from the assassin and in cover.
First turn I moved the NDK closer and moved the assassin further towards his force along the top of the building and tried a snap shot at a raider and didn't hit dread stayed hidden as he was not able to see anything even if he had moved.
He moved all his vehicles up and ended up shooting all his dark lances from his raiders and all the venom shots into the NDK, surviving on 1 wound (to be fair, he took a lot of shots)
My turn 2, both squads of terms DS in, both scatter, one ends up going back into reserves, the other mishaps and my opponent gets to position them, he does so right on my short table edge, so they have to walk/run back into combat., the NDK tried to get as close as he can to flame on, but due to per-measuring is short 2 inches, the dreadnaught steps out from behind the building and explodes one of his raiders killing a nearby jump trooper and 7 of the occupants. My assassin shoots at his ravager and on 4d6.. fails to penetrate.....
His turn 2, razorwing comes on flies up near the NDK, the 3 wyches run into cover and hide out, the venoms, raider and ravager move to shoot at either the NDK or the dreadnaught, his shooting kills the NDK and imobilizes the dreadnaught and takes it to 1HP, his DE bikes turbo boost 48 inches or something ridiculously far over the top of the assassin and drops his caltrops or bombs. the assassin ends up getting his 32 times, wounded 15 times, and only fails one save, I was flabbergasted at his luck on that one.
My turn 3, the last term squad teleport in and don't scatter, the squad on the other end of the table try to run forward as fast as they can (not as quick as DE can of course) the assassin fires at the raider and penetrates, but only gets a weapon destroyed... the dreadnaught cant see anyone but the razorwing so goes for broke, gets one six and gets a pen, however flier makes its jink save. the teleported squad open up on the raider and wreck it, but of course can't assault the occupants.
His turn 3, the DE bikes move up to ontop of the ruins with the assassin, the razorwing flies off the table, the venoms disgorge their occupants and the DE jump team move a bit closer. The shooting leaves me without the dreadnaught, and having lost the assassin and 2 terminators, his close combat leaves me with another 4 terminators dead and only taking out 3 wyches
My turn 4, the squad at the far end of the table move up as far as they can and kill the rest of the DE jump guys, close combat ends with only the Techmarine alive having declined the challenge from his archon.
His turn 4, his venoms and ravager open up on the squad trying to get into range of something and kill 3 of them, close combat ends with the Techmarine getting "snow globed" by his archon and they consolodate 1 inch.
My turn 5 Try to move up as fast as I can to his lord and wyches however can't hit anything due to range
His turn 5, moves his bikes out from cover ready to turbo boost/caltrop, his ravager/venoms move to max range of their weapons and open up again, taking out another 2 terminators and wounding the grand master twice. His bikes turbo boost/caltrop the squad and leave only the grand master and one terminator alive
I call it beginning my turn 6 due to not wanting to get tabled again.
Well I can tell you that you need a teleporter on the NDK. 12 inches makes it so much better. That 30 jump is also a great late game defense. I would also consider taking another psyfleman dread because they work better in pairs.
I would drop the vindicare for another psyfleman and drop the techmarine for the personal teleporter.
Add the psychostrokes to the GM for combat purposes.
I really like the rest of your list so without seeing the battlefield I could not help any further.
I second the comments about jump NDK, it's scary as and well worth the points. I'm a big fan of running a Libby as hq. Sanctuary is your friend. TBH, loathe as I am to suggest such a thing, you might want to consider Deathstar Paladins; big blocks of Paladins are nigh-unassailable in 6th. However, it's not necessarily a particularly fun list to play. Another thing to consider is falchions over Halberds, he's I6 anyway might as well optimise how many hits you can churn out. Crowe with purifiers is also a vicious build against horde type armies. Then again against vehicle heavy Deldar another Psyfleman gives you more attrition.
Hope that helps, sorry if it's a bit vague!
Well, first, your dice luck swung heavily in both directions. Your terminators squads both mishap'd on their arrival, which rendered that turn moot and put one squad almost entirely out of the game. It is hard to deal with such a situation.
The Vindicare, while in theory fun, typically ends up being a point sink. And with a vehicle-light army, the Techmarine is not much use, either.
I'd suggest dropping them both, and using the points for psyk grenades and another Psyfleman. And, yes, if you're going to take a Dreadknight, give him the teleporter.
To be fair to your opponent, don't 'tune' the army to him, but do consider the Falchion option in a squad.
Finally, don't worry about his air power too much, a pair of Psyfleman dreads will deal with that well enough.
Chaos.
Unlikely, I know, but I want to see Knightley's interpreation of a champion of the Ruinous Powers...
If not, then my best bet would be another strike squad...
@Graven - Hmm, let me thing on it, I don't have any plans to do anymore close combat guys just yet (I don't have the supporting warp packs) but I do like the look of the shields!
@M.K - Thanks mate.
@Briancj - Yeah they are very very old
@eldartau1987 - I should be having a game Vs LDP this week or next (his School holidays) but that should be marine vs marine so a bit different than facing a DE army.
@Graven - Thanks, I see that your camera has picked up the pace as well, not using the cellphone camera anymore and yes once I complete the Stormraven another army shot will be forthcoming!
@LDP - Cheers! Were they as awesome in person?
@Gits - Thank you Gits, he's not bad eh
Update:
Well I had a 3000 point game vs Proto and LDP on Saturday which was awesomesauce so much death! but I was knackered after 5 hours of standing so I didn't end up doing much painting at all, Sunday was a day of house work and a little bit of painting but nothing to show yet. Stormravens are effin huge this will take a while.
So what I figured I would do is post the battle report - please note the pics are from my cellphone so if the images are pants, that's why

My Turn 2
Bikes move to the edge of the board and shoot at Dante killing his last assault marine Ironclad plummets down next to Rhino, scatters closer to the Rhino, dread stomps out and meltas the Rhino, doesn’t penetrate… Hunter Killer missiles fire and pop the Rhino, squad deploys near objective, Purgation move up try to shoot at Dante take a wound off, strike squad move up shoot at Tactical squad do some wounds, interceptor squad warp 30 inches behind the Ultramarine Tactical squad and open up kills 1. OP Turn 2
Razorback arrives by outflank (warlord trait) but end up on the wrong side shoots at the bike = one dead bike, Dante charges remaining bike and wipes him out. Land raider moves through the ruins and deploys the Hammernaters then kills the remaining purgation marines, Blood Angels tactical squad move up and capture the relic and move 1 inch back (relic must weigh a ton) they shoot at the strike squad and kill one, Librarian dread smashes one more biker but doesn’t hit the assault bike, yay!, two remaining scouts on the pad run to the edge and shoot at the interceptors combined with the Ultramarine Tactical squad they take the squad to 3 marines. The storm raven arrives and zooms behind a building hiding from Telion and his interceptor quad gun
My Turn 3
Dreaknight teleports behind the Hammernaters and flames the Blood Angels tactical squad killing 5, the assault squad jump 12 closer to the relic, lascannon Tactical squad move closer to the raven and try some snap shots, nothing, Librarian runs to help the relic but is left without support. Interceptors fire at the scouts on the pad and fail to do anything, Land speeder moves behind the pad and shoots at the Ultramarine Tactical squad killing 2 when it should have killed the rest, assault squad pistol into Blood Angels squad and kill the remaining troops but are out in the open now. Librarian dread gribbles the assault bike and consolidates below the pad. Telion and the plasma cannon squad put everything into the Hammernaters, yielding great results, killing 4! (Plasma cannon accounting for 2)
OP Turn 3
Razorback moves 6 up spins and deploys command squad all fire at the Nemesis DreadKnight boom a wound down, Landraider move further through the ruins and rotates onto the Dreaknight, boom another wound, Dante moves up beside the Landraider. Ultramarine Tactical squad shoot and assault the interceptors but get killed due to initative 6 power weapon attacks, Stormraven moves into hover, shoots missiles at Nemesis DreadKnight, boom another wound, turns its attention to the Librarian and assault cannons him to death and drops off the death company and dread, dread charges and wipes out the lascannon squad and the death company try to assault the assault marines losing one in overwatch causing them to fail the charge! The Librarian dread decides it’s his turn, tries a bloodlance which is denied by the witch, who needs power when you’re a dreadnaught right? So he charges in and nom noms on 3 assault marines… who can’t hurt it back. The lone Hammernater picks up his nads and charges the Dreakknight who hits 3 times wounds 3 times, stormshield shrugs it off, hammer attacks back, boom, last wound down.
My Turn 4
Paladins arrive and teleport in the center and don’t scatter (mint)and open up on the Hammernater, stormshield just shrugs it off like a boss. The strike squad move bedside the squad and hand over the relic to a Paladin (muhahahah) Interceptors move up and shoot at the death company, along with the Landspeeder, and the plasma cannon Tactical squad, the lose 4 death company, Telion does what he does best and explodes the Stormraven with the quad gun and my psyrifleman dread explodes the death company dread with some sick strength 8 shots to its face. The assault squad loses some more to the Librarian dread.
OP Turn 4
Hammernater decides to save his life and runs to the Landraider which stayed still but fires on the Paladins and kills one, Razorback shoots and blows up the drop pod the command squad open up on the paladins and don’t wound, death company jump and assault the strike squad, losing 2 to the halberds but killing 2 in return, the Librarian dread chews up another assault marine, scouts try to hurt the Landspeeder but fail to do so. Dante assaults the paladins but gets cut down by the titan sword.
My Turn 5
Dragio splits from the Paladins and tries to assault the command squad but fails his charge and takes a wound from over watch, the paladins move 6 towards my defense line, psyrifleman dread moves and shoots at the Landraider taking a hull point to a glance, plasma cannon Tactical squad kill the razorback, interceptors fire at the scouts but don’t hurt them, telion and the scouts try to kill some more command squad but fail. Librarian dread gribbles the last of the Assault marines and moves towards the paladins, Death Company marine kills the last strike marine and moves to ruins.
OP Turn 5
Command squad move to ruins and fire into paladins doing nothing, Landraider shoots into the paladins and kills the hammer, uh oh, the Librarian dread then jumps into range of the paladins and assaults, killing 2 leaving the warding staff apothecary. The Hammernater decides that because he’s killed a Nemesis DreadKnight, Draigo should be a cake walk, so disembarks and charges, stalemate.
My Turn 6
Psyrifleman also opens up on the Landraider doing another hull, Landspeeder moves to beside the Landraider and opens up with a melta and blows it up. The plasma Tactical squad decides the death company marine has been around long enough and remove him from play. The interceptors charge after shooting at the command squad and leave only the captain left, but can’t kill him. The Librarian dread doesn’t kill the apothecary.
OP Turn 6
Hammernater continues to beat on Draigo but neither can kill each other yet, captain wipes out an interceptor, the Librarian dread however kills the warding staff and moves away from the objective ready to bloodlance the bollocks off of whoever tries for the relic
My Turn 7
Scout squad move out from cover leaving Telion close enough to the quad gun but can still cap the relic, the Tactical squad move out and provide a super human shield, Landspeeder moves behind the Librarian dread and with the combined fire from Telion and the psyrifleman dread wreck the Librarian dread, captain and Inteceptors continue to battle but no one else dies. Draigo tries as hard as he can but cannot kill the heroic hammernator.
Game ends Spacemarine + Grey Knights win 5 VP’s to Spacemarine + Blood Angels 1 VP
Congrats on your achievement! It is good to see you get some recognition!
Automatically Appended Next Post: also the improvement of your side of the battle report is amazing. You made sound tactical decisions! That sounded like an epic game.

Great batrep, and sounds like you're really getting the feel of gk in 6th! And of course, huge congrats on the What's New - you are the talk of the town!
@LDP - Hammernator should become the squad sergeant IMO he was amazing! We should do it again soon!
@Gits - Do you like the term Gribbles, I think it best describes whats left after they've been destroyed little bits of gribbles.
@Rawson - Oh wow, how intense is that I was just happy to get them onto their flickr page and then it ended up on their facebook page, now to be on the main blog page, I'm honor and speechless.
@WM - Hahah if you Google vindiwindi its all me!
@TaWaaagh - Sweet you posted the link as well, that should help those who get lost trying to get to the whats new page.
@eldartau1987 - If I was going to redo the list I would remove the Dreadknight and take powerfists and melta bombs, but hindsight is 20/20 right
@Graven - Autocannons are divine IMO
@Blackhand - Cheers mate!
@Proto - No thank you for the game it was so much fun and so much death, everything would have gone differently had that Death company made their first charge
@Meatshield - Cheers
Update: well I managed to get all the base colors and wash done on the raven, plenty of pics below, took 3 days to do all of this, the grey stage will be a long long time :S
Could have sworn I already posted "congrats on the gw blog post! Can't wait to see the finished raven!"
But seems either:
a. I'm losing my mind and never did
b. I failed to press post
@Briancj - Thanks for the WD compliment, I had considered doing the interior but decided mixing the clear plastic with painted plastic went against my sensibility's this time.
@Bigfish - Cheers
@M.K - Well if you lose your mind, prepare for awesome conversations over and over again
Update: doing stage one grey has been a nightmare, this model is so big!
Be patient eldartau1987. The squiggles are part of the finishing touch.
Knightley, if you get a chance can you time how long you spend painting squiggles on that beast? I'm curious to see how long it takes you to add a MILLION squiggles onto that raven.
Now that its all together, question for you. Did you have any fitting problems with the big air intake piece up top? Didn't seem to work quit right on mine, look a bit off.
@WM - Yes! god I had to hack away underneath the intake where it touches the front of the next piece, I also had to file down a bit of the raised surface where it sat as well just to get it all flush
@eldartau1987 - Thanks! Squiggles are the last part of any of my projects BTW so if you don't see any during the WIP parts that's why
@TheChaoticJournalist - Cheers
@M.K - Sweet, that was the overall theme I was going for, crisp and grey
@Gits - Hmm, I'm not sure, up close the detail work is a tad lacking, is there enough on the picture for a zoomed in shot?
@Proto - Thanks Proto! if you need a hand let me know
@Celeborn - Thank you, the smooth finish must be one of my trademarks by now
@Childe - Thanks mate, sadly I havent been able to get another full army shot yet hopefully when the weather picks up here
@eldartau1987 - Thanks
@Miss Dee - I think I will do a pure GK push this time, I want to do more battles with GK's but lack the completed models.
This is the next pushes list.
1 x Old school Librarian plastic, applied to a large base
1 x OOPGK Inquisitor with halberd
1 x Terminator armored Captain going for a GK or INQ conversion
1 x Castellan Crowe
1 x Hector Rex
5 x Purifier GK marines, 2 psycannons, halberds, swords (this to finish off the first half of the other squad)
1 x Adeptus Mechanicus Dreadnaught (thanks Graven for the idea) will have two sets of arms, one set TLAC the other Close combat orientated
1 x Dreadknight, I hope to make this one with a rather large halberd
8 x OOP Metal PAGK's
9 x OOP Metal TAGK's
9 x Terminator GK's
2 x Finecast TA Justicars
2 x Finecast PA Justicars
2 x Finecast PA Psycannons
3 x Terminator SM to GK conversions, utilising normal SM terminator legs/chest with GK addons
This will give me at least 2 full 10 man Terminator squads, a full 10 man Purifier squad, a full 10 man strike squad which should allow me to field a decent army!
Your work is outstanding as always. I like how you've done the AC turret on your SR, that works well.
As for converting regular Termies to TAGK, if you cut away the hood on the front piece and cut the back to match you get a very convincing TAGK torso. You can even do the trick of using a shoulder pad or a DA termie shield icon as hood for the finishing touch.
How's this for your sgt Knightley? Obviously there's still cleanup to be done but that's how he's been assembled.
Sorry I posted it here, wasn't sure on how to send pics via PM as this is being uploaded straight from my desktop
Nice stuff. I really like what you are doing here withe characters! I might steal your idea for the INQ. I am having a hard time figuring that one out!
Just a quick tip, but for the WM360, you might want to further accentuate the red, especially around the iron halo. It's a little too mono-chromatically red. But otherwise, fantastic job Master Squiggle!
@Proto - yeah buddy! of course I still need to paint them, so you have a few months grace I'll see what I can do about getting a pic of the cream one for you.
@Gits - Cheers mate, shame the sig space is so limited I'd like to have added more
@Ice - I got sent that one from Graven, as he wanted to see what I could do with it to make it more GK
@TheGunslinger - up close the model does have shading, sadly mu camera isn't really good at taking pics of red.
@ET - Oh yeah, 2 squads of 10 with 2 psycannons, Halberds'n'Hammers and psybolt really do ruin things.
Update: Been quite distracted recently so not much to show
Purifiers - important to note, a psycannon from this squad will be moved to the first squad I did.
Are you replacing his halberd with a table leg? Ingenious!
Chapter Master - "Thesious, you have served the Emperor for seventeen decades. It is time you wield our holiest of relics!" - opens large case - "Behold! The loose leg of the Emperors kitchenette, not the cursed leg that wobbled in the shadows. THIS is the front right left that absorbed Terran sunlight for a thousand years. It is said that he brought the sacred table on his great crusade and for hundreds of years SMOTE his foes when his other weapons were being cleaned. In the final days of the heresy, it is said that the greater daemon Lublub broke it during the assault on Terra." - dramatic pause - "Thesious, it is now yours. Let the enemies of the Emperor, quiver with fear before you."
Thesious - "A table leg?"
But seriously, it looks cool. I can't wait to see it all completed!
That's a switch. Go for it but its going to be hard to integrate the old models and make it fit as well as Gits does. I think the flamer looks good. I'll bet the old guy is glad to get some use.

It's shaded, but not my normal colors (DA green), so not maybe my best. I also majorly dislike hard edging, so I would never go to that extreme of it.
@Gits - it does have a certain look to it, he's a tad bit smaller then the other Terminators but it doesn't phase me
@Meatshield - I'm always happy to give things a go, you never know how things could end up without trying.
@ET - I thought about doing dual falchions or short blades, but the halberd won out in the end (see below)
@Miss Dee - Is that where the model came from, that's cool to know a bit of the history!
@Proto - Fingers crossed mate
WM - I still like the model.
Update: action packed weekend, I've started playing airsoft on Saturdays and it's been leaving me knackered for the rest of the day (I swear I'm to old for this sometimes) but I did manage to get some build time on the NDK so without further ado
My only complaint is the shinguards. The triangular tops sitcking up over the admech layered armour is off-putting. Either another layer, or take off the triangles, or something.
I know, UTTER NITPICKING.
Where did the hammer arm come from that you turned into the Axe?
I agree with the shinpads, and the fingers seem a little too skinny to crush the foes of the emprah, Maybe it's just me, but the whole thing looks awesome, very admech.
Very cool indeed! Are you going to fit an underslung weapon to the fist? C-Beamer maybe ? Thanks for the nod, btw, ages since I've looked out that bad boy. The hammer looks like its from the NDK, Briancj, but I could be wrong.
You have no idea! I also get to paint a Lamenters after this guy as well, so yay... yellow.... I tried a different painting technique as well with this ones armor, I based the guy in dark blue and progressively dry brushed lighter and light blue and cut it together with a heavy blue wash, very different way of painting and very very quick. LDP will be the overall judge though
Well from what I can see now it's looking fine! I have a command squad that's missing a member and this guy would fill the slot better than anything. Can't wait to see the overall result. Speaking of which I have to start painting yours between working on my nids. I'll get round to it as soon as!
@LDP - Mint! and you let it slip what the bone was for
@ET - I think I'm going to have to go for a very solid base and mix progressively a lighter yellow into the mix and just try to get a nice solid yellow, I've only ever done small amounts of yellow so this will be a huge step up for me.
