With one exception (lower right), I must disagree with the cartooniness, especially after having recently checked out the NY Met Museum's samurai armor collection. There are no silly rabbits or oxen on these, which real Samurai stuff actually featured.
The tusked-face mask on the top left is particularly awesome. Nice work, Kromlech!

Will you also be making the armour that goes on the waist?
Also, it would be great if you could release all these parts in one go rather than piecemeal.
Thanks
Keep up the excellent work

Post by: mullet_steve
piecemeal (which is a harsh sounding term) releases like this allow Kromlech to guage the popularity of a set with minimal risk. If they released a whole set all at once the costs would be greater and the risk of it being unpopular or just not selling is therefore more expensive. This way they release the heads and sort of say hey customers heres a taste tester of a new range if your interested we will build the rest?

NIce, other than making a samurai themed army those heads could be used with a little modification as Blood Angel death masks (and scarier looking ones than the sissy boy masks you get in the sanguinary guard set) or on Raptors for their demonic visage (yes the book which will not be named did away with that, but so what?)

As long as it's less than $15, they should be able to sell a bunch. Don't get me wrong, I've always appreciated Neal and The Warstore's place in the bitz market, but they do not miss an opportunity to gouge on prices. Any competition to give them a run for their money is fine with me.

I kinda like both the large missiles, and without. They can launch either frag or krak, right? Would make sense for 2 different styles or sizes.
But a targetter sounds nice too!
Another thing that would likely make you money hand over fist would be some 28mm size mechanical claws. I know there are PA crushers but they look too large and I think the styling could be muchly improved, like to a 3 bladed claw style or similar.

Servo arms- think something like the robocop costume? only take off some of the shiny outer armour casing. Power claws- think about emergency equiptment like the fire brigade use, cutters and splitters only three shears instead of two, I personaly would like to see a five blade claw, two on one side three on the other.

Look at the Iron Warriors Warsmith for inspiration. Think a power-fist type/size weapon except a Mechanical crushing claw.

Post by: mullet_steve
4 Zephyr missile launchers ordered as is. I understand that the missiles are actualy cast as seperate pieces so if they just slot into the launcher it should be rather easy to knock up some sort of radar dish or similar targeting system that slots into place instead of the larger missiles. I didn't know that the missiles were seperate untill I logged into your ebay site to order the things and I think it may make a difference to some of your clientel to know that they don't have to put the larger missiles into the thing at all.
on a different note have you considered the possibility of adding a magnet to the missiles and launcher so that the missiles could be removable during the game? I don't know how easy it would be to place tiny magnets into your mould during the casting process but i thought I'd mention the idea as it appeared randomly in my head whilst i was typing.

May I place a request/suggestion? I would like to see a range of rokkits/bombs/thrusters built in your very orkish style. I would sugest a range of three sizes Boy sized (stormboy and small rokkits), vehicle sized (rokkits just slightly bigger than stormboy sized to be mounted onto vehicles as either ordinance or boosters) and OMG how big for really big stuff like gargant and mega bomber sized bombs and rokkits. If you rapid prototype the basic shape and design it is infinatly scaleable and your tallented sculptors can then add the finishing touches and details before casting.

I would guess Mullet Steve meant that the master models were originally designed with being cast in metal, and new molds were made from these masters for FineCast products.
it seems like a sculpter/molder would need to plan parts layouts a bit differently for each material, which could explain some of the FineCast problem reports, especially if casters are being retrained quickly.

They will continue to sell all our stuff. Przemas just picked up whole bags of Kromlech goodies yesterday .

I for one love where they were going with this idea. I would prefer the Egyptian gods to be the actual helm as opposed to on top of the space marine helm look. Jackal, lionesse, hawk, crocodile, etc. If anyone knows where to find said heads, pm please. I have looked all over and can't seem to find them.

Perfect timing! Love the pads, not too sure about the helmets, the top two are perfect but the ones underneath look very odd, while I like the crests, the actual face part looks very flat. If you came out with more of the top style I would buy heaps of the things!

I would say when you place your order you need to inform them what you want and they will provide you with your request, but they will only be listed as a mixed set on their shop page other wise they would have to have several listings for separate parts.

I am glad this has been cleared up however I do feel it necessary to point out the spelling was correct it was the miss use of capitols was obviously the issue. So I would like to explain the use of capitals in this sentence, it was meant to portray that I was shouting in a writing format.
However this is not meant in any way as hostile or aggressive only to portray the frustration of waiting for these items release as to finish the work I have started with these in mind.

GW also makes orcs but that doesn't stop 3rd parties from making them. I was referring to no aftermarket companies making running legs. Trying to buy from bits sites can often prove more expensive than buying custom resin equivalents.

Hi!
The shipping time is around a week (more or less), but considering the heavy mail traffic during Christmas time I wouldn't expect it to be delivered so quickly.
As for the shipping costs, we do have a flat rate for all our items (varying between the number of oredered blisters), but the Raider is a hefty piece of resin- much bulkier than anything we sold up to now, so the price might change. We will work it out so that everyone is happy and noone gets hurt!

Hi all!
We would like to proudly announce the release of our new kit- the Orc Desert Raider!
The set includes the vehicle, two crew members and two weapon options- Machine Gun and Missile Rack.
In order to properly celebrate our largest release so far, we would like to give you an opportunity, to win the miniature itself.
The rules are very simple. All you need to do is like our facebook page and share the link to our facebook page on your wall between 20th and 31st of December.
From all the people, who met these conditions, on the 2nd of January, we will randomly pick one person who will receive Orc Desert Raider and three runner-ups who will be granted $10 vouchers in our online store.
Note that we may ask you to allow us to view your wall.

So slightly cheaper than a GW Ork Buggy in these parts, and much, much cooler.

We are very happy with how the Desert Raider has turned out and will definitely modify the kit in the future. Different weapon loadouts, wheel and body modifications are all an option.
Meanwhile, I have a preview for you guys of our new Heavy Assault Vehicle Dozer Blades. These can be mounted on sides of your heavy tanks and actually only cover part of the vehicle's front, so that the ramp is unobscured and ready to release carnage upon your foes. You'll be able to get them in around a week from now. Hope you like them!
Cheers and a very Happy New Year to you all!

I would love a 'marines in space' version of that desert raider. I think side cars are goofy and would much prefer a 4 wheel design such as this for 'bikes that attack'.
Also digging the heavy tank dozers, but shouldn't it be evil-fied? For some reason only evil 'marine in space' can put them on their 'heavy tanks'.
Ok, was that enough quotes or what lol

How about using the blades as "counts-as" extra armour for loyalists LRs?
If you want it with Chaos insignia, it would be easier for you to add it yourself after purchase than for Kromlech to put it on...especially as a customer who didn't want it would be forced to scrape it off anyway...
Also, who knows what the next codex for SM could contain?

They look great, can you also glue it together in the middle to make a V-shaped dozer blade that would fit on something like a Chimera?
51979
Post by: Pawel_Kromlech
Hm, that is actually a pretty good question. They of course can be glued together, but I am not sure it would fit lighter tanks. I'll measure them tomorrow (before and after gluing together) and post the dimentions here for you.

Hi, I've measured the Dozer Blades and each blade is roughly 1.5 inch wide. The gap between the arms that attach the blades to the tank hull is 2 inches (that's after glueing the blades together, of course).
Hope it helps!

They look very cool. Functionally, however... I'm going to be a geek for a moment.
These would break down regularly IRL. The only support for them is on the outside. As soon as you tried to push something really big and heavy against the inside edge of the dozer blade, it would bend or break, rendering it useless. I'd have far preferred to see some sort of secondary support for the inside of each blade, like a support that goes between the tank and the blade, rather than something that attaches to the side (which would interfere with the opening of the Assault Ramp.
Also... Can "Heavy Assault Tanks" in the most popular futuristic wargame even buy dozer blades as an upgrade? I have no codex handy, and I can't remember.

Hi Eric,
TBH, I was curious myself as we have not tested their durability, though they seemed pretty solid.
So, I decided to put one together (glued with superglue, no pins). I grabbed it by the blade and applied pressure on kitchen scales with the part that gets attached to a tank. It withstood around 1,5-1,6kgs and snapped at around 1,7. I'm not sure if it is enough to satisfy you, but considerable force was needed to break it, so I'd say they can be used safely with the standard amount of caution.
Cheers,
Pawel

I think he meant that dozer blades like those wouldn't work in real life. He didn't mean that the miniature looked fragile.

Well, i certainly appreciate that test, but I'm not sure I made myself clear.
In a sort of Devil's Advocate manner, I was trying to say that a "real life" blade that looked like that and was attached to a "real life" tank would not be as secure as one with two arm supports.
There are "purists" out there who decry products like this that look like real life items but don't match up with real world physics or characteristics. I'm not one of them ( LOL), but I suspect there are plenty who will look at this product and think like that.

You could just file of the eagle crest, its an easy option then sculpt a glyph in its place that is what I will do with some of mine
I am also waiting on the arms but glad that they are taking the time to sort out some issues with the posing, nothing worse than awkward arms or ones that don't match up.
It is a shame that we have to wait but I would rather wait and get a decent set then have them rushed out and be a bloody nightmare.
So I say thanks for giving the care and attention rather then just making a quick buck

Hi all,
We've got something special for you today!
Remember how I'm always writing that your opinions and feedback are very important to us?
Well, today we'd like to prove it to you by giving you a chance to actually influence our future releases.
All you have to do, is write to me an email titled 'Most wanted from Kromlech' at pawel[dot]kromlech[at]gmail[dot]com and suggest a model/accessory/bit that you'd like us to make.
Out of all emails that I receive in the next 14 days (until 20th of February), we will randomly pick three of you who will get $10 vouchers at our store.
Most importantly though, we will pick three requests that we find the coolest, most innovative, most interesting and fun and we will actually produce them! The people who will have came up with these will each receive three copies of their wanted models as a reward and also will be credited as the idea-givers (eternal glory FTW!).
Each person is entitled to as many requests as they want, but they all have to be packed into one email, so make it count! Also, please, bare in mind that we have a fair number of projects and ideas of our own, so don't be suprised if your suggestion does not get picked, but is released in the future. It would only mean that we've had the same idea earlier!
In case of more than one person mailing the 'winning' request, the one which we have received first will be taken into account.
On the 27th of February, we will announce the lucky winners who got randomly picked as well as the names of people who stand behind the best ideas for future releases. The models will be kept secret for now, but don't worry, we will be very loud about them when their time comes.
A couple of suggestions for you:
-Don't limit yourselves to sci-fi only. We are open to expand our ranges to fantasy/steampunk/cyberpunk/whatever genre.
-Keep the ideas resonalbe. No matter how cool would it be to get three massive orc war robots of doom for free, we probably will not ever release anything of this size, so the more realistic your idea is, the bigger are chances of it getting picked.
-Tell us why do you think your idea is good. Is there a gap in the market? Does it reek awsomness? Or are you maybe simply missing this particular bit to complete your collection? Any reason is good.
One more thing. The process of designing a model, sculpting it and preparing for production is sometimes lenghty and depending on the model's complexity, can take even months to complete. Please, do not expect us to release the models in a week from the competition's finale
Hope, it all is clear. In case of any doubts, do not hesitate to ask me here or via the above email.
Cheers,
Pawel

Those pads are gorgeous -- lovely work!
I love the layered look -- mail armour and pad and spikes and evil faces. Always makes a mini have a bit more verisimilitude, if you have several layers of stuff there. I do think there's maybe slightly too much mail at the moment (I'd like to see it on, say, 4 pads out of 10, rather than 4 out of 5), but that may be a personal taste thing. With the next set, if you could do some layers of "tanned human skin", that'd be lovely.
