Who do you write $125 dollars? That's like saying one hundred and twenty five dollars-dollars. You only need the word or the dollar sign, not both. Also, expect one box. One big ol' box.

We don't know. There haven't been reliable rumors of two starter boxes and the price will probably be the same as AoBR. This is my educated guess.

There is little chance a "starter box" will not have enough things in it to "start" playing. Like two factions.

Look! Pile-on rumors. I don't think I'll be counting pile-ons this time.

Cant wait till set is released so everyone who "knows" whats in the box will shut up and just enjoy it. Since so many people are obviously making crap up, i will do the same.. I hear all the models are going to be a combination of finecast and paper mache!
For those who are eager to find out the truth, just wait. Another week or two and we will see it in white dwarf and actual pictures posted online. Dont put to much stock in these forums as they are usually half wrong and full of bitter liars, whos inside source is another rumor monger. Gw will put the info out when it is time (though im not cool with delayed release info either).

However, this 'source' is saying that CSM will actually be released Sept 8th, instead of starting pre-orders on that date.

I would TOTALLY go for the paper mache minis... especially for Dark Eldar! Then the models would truly represent the vehicles!

The realism is eye-scorching.
Normaly, my local store does a pre-order pool at least 2 weeks before the pre-release date, and this time... nada. The employee who's in charge told me that we'd have to wait for White Dwarf to show it, because he "still doesn't know its coming out in September."

The snark kind of ruins your overall point.
For what it's worth though, I agree with lord_blackfang. They look like they would fit better in a Dark Eldar army than a Chaos army--however that is, of course, subject to change in direction for Chaos.
I'm cautiously going to wait for photos of the Deathwing models before I decide on this set. If the Deathwing models are awesome?

I think the color palette is what gives the model a Dark Eldar vibe. Might also be that they used the same sculptor.
I do hope that some of the cultists have faces that look less Nurgle so that there is some variety. Plastic models will be easy to convert though.

It could be that the scenario for the starter set could explain why they are not more "chaosy/ chaotic". It could be they are heading for a Blood Pact/ Sons of Sek uniform vibe. I view cultists as people capable of functioning inside the Imperium (holding down day jobs) until the time comes for them to welcome their new Chaos overlords. Its after that they will start overtly smelling of blood, displaying ritual scars or, please no, wearing skirts and pointy hats!
I do know that I have a use for those 30 unmade cadians I have, and it will involve removing any imperial symbols and working on green stuff skills to give them grotesque masks.

Neat models.
Excited to say the least!
It's basically the level of Space Hulk detail.
I love that CSM now look as baroque and grim as their artwork does. That's something incredible.
The cultist gives me mixed feelings... It's a perfect Vraks styled traitor guardsman, but NOT a cultist - I imagined them having robes and masks as the old minis had... Still, I'll certainly use these, but most likely in my Savlar IG army, not Chaos
DA look a bit boring and over the top with wings. But I like the Librarian's pose.

Post by: H.B.M.C.
Keep in mind we've only seen one of them. He is very "Vraks Militia", but for all we know their squad leaders are decked out in the full red robes/pointy had gear, or that's just the more disciplined rifle group, and the pistols/CCW group are raving lunatic 'proper' cultists.

It definitely looks like these new CSM could be perfect for making a Khorne list without having to overly use the berzerker kit. The models that we have seen are looking very Chaos Knight-ish, it would be
awesome if that aesthetic extends down the line to the troops and would fit into the new CSM box rumour.
I'm very excited for this, although i'm more looking forward to the actual codex release, Word Bearers a go go!

You're not crazy, that's what it looks like to me too.
I made the comment earlier that the wings on the helm look flat. Upon more inspection, the whole mini looks flat except the backpack.
Those wings should have ridges on them at the least.
Maybe someone in the art department was having a bad day.....??

On a side note, Deathwing Terminators are no longer available for purchase on the GW website.
Edit:
I think the wings look flat because it's a photo of a photo. Not reflecting on anything with the model itself.

It really could just be a bad cut & paste of another photo they had.
Say.... they had a photo of it for Box Art, but then something happened/whatever, so they had to reuse that photo for White Dwarf but the background didn't fit so they Copy & Pasted it and just failed at the attempt.
I'm sure the mini itself is totally amazing and will make an excellent addition to my Blood Angels, with some work.
However, that picture is all sorts of goofy.

Nah, for "Maximum Wing" he'd need a sang. guard jumppack with sculpted DA icon on the main booster, the ultramarine honor guard helmet faceplate with the wings (maybe sculpt a sword down the middle), and some kind of wing motif on the hilt of the power weapon. Haha!

Something just popped into my mind: one of those chaos models (the one with the claws) really looks to be wearing termi armor: look at the legs and shoulderpads.
But there are no terminators listed in the Starter Box content leaks.
Now we have some options to explain that:
-It's simply scavenged pieces of the best armor the Chosen could find and acts like regular power armor.
-Chosen can take terminator armor upgrades for points.
-Chosen may be able to take termi-armored sergeants, or behave like Wolf Guard and be placed in other units.
-That picture may not be from the starter but depict another model from the new upcoming model line.

You can totally see why they don't though, it literally would lose them money. The level of excitement over these models, they want that to peak at the exact moment at which you are physically able to hand over your cash, either to pre-order or buy from the stores.
If these pictures came out a month ago, with the tag line "Yours to own from September 1st 2012!!" the level of excitement when the pictures came out would be amazing... however, by the time a month had passed and the time actually came around to then hand over cash, a few people would have gotten over their original hysteria and calmed down and realised that they would in fact rather eat real food and pay their bills than by plastic men, and so they'd not buy the set, or they'd tame down their initial gut instinct to buy three boxes and only buy one.
GW are relying on your irrational over-excitement to make you buy more stuff than you can really afford, so they need you to be ridiculously excited at exactly the time when things go on sale. Keeping everything a massive secret does that for them far better than good quality pre-release pictures do.
Sucks to be us!!
Damn their financial sense, I want to see the pretty models, and I want to buy them now!!

You quoted almost three dozen people (yourself included) who, at the moment of first sight, wanted to drop the ~$100 without further question. They have confirmed this with their own sales figures. The back is all daemon flesh. the face of the brute is a giant cluster of horns with a gaping toothy maw in the middle opening to reveal a screaming skull warped in agony.
The chaos lord/ sorcerer in power armor has a wicked set of horns and a plasma pistol and daemon sword as big as he is. It's seriously nemesis force sword big.
The 6 chosen have bolters and lightning claw dude and power weapon guy as previously mentioned by other sources. They look right out of the designs for the space marine video game. Not a lot of spikes but a ton of detail on the armor.
The set comprises of:
Chaos (no god specific iconography thus far on models but it does reek of khorne)
-chaos lord
-6 chosen
-18 cultists
- hell brute
Dark angels
-company master
-chaplain
-librarian
-10 man full plasma option tac squad

-3 bikers

Honestly, BOTH of you are being completely unscientific about it and shouldn't be drawing any marketing strategy conclusions about some words typed by a handful of people on an electronic message board.
They have confirmed this with their own sales figures. I don't even know where to start with that other than to say neither you nor GW can really know whether or not they would have done better with a different strategy -- whatever that might be.
Back OT, if we see poses like that in the eventual cultist boxed set (assuming cultists don't become the new deffkoptas), they'll work pretty well for plague zombies. What's pictured already looks a little "shambly." They also don't look completely overloaded in chaos symbols, which is a positive if the Genestealer Cult rumors come true. Of course, it's a grainy pic of one model.

Bobby plays 40k, and is interested in either DA or Chaos. But he doesn't have a clue when anything is coming out, because, let's face it, GW hasn't got the best track record when it comes to telling people anything.
So Bobby, not knowing that the shiny new starter set is coming out, uses the money that would have been put to that to buy something else instead. A few weeks later, when the set is released, Bobby's already spent the money he would have put aside for the starter set, and doesn't buy it.
Looks like GW lost some money right there.

OK, so Im glad I decided to back Dreamforge Games kickstarter instead of this. Not to excited about the DA SCs or the Hellbrute...just looks like a fancy CSM Term, but the other Chaos SCs...ill be tracking those 2 down on Ebay.

I'm glad to finally see some new chaos releases, it's been far to long in my opinion. I was expecting it to be CSM in this starter set and I'm pretty sure everyone new Space Marines would be the other army this time (again...)I was hoping for a new Chaos dreadnought model though, I would have to buy mine from FW because the GW version to be frank is hideous. I'll gladly take a Hellbrute so long as it isn't too expensive when it's released seperate.
I don't think this was directed for new beginners either, I mean anyone who really just now got into the hobby probably wouldn't know who the DA are. I'm annoyed by the fact that now there are going to be 4 different codexes for Space Marines, counting GK. Considering there are some armies that haven't had a new release in years. (Tau, and the Eldar haven't had very much attention either.)

Is that copy pasted from every complaint about GW ever?
Regarding the dreadnought. I think there will be a new one when the Codex is released in October. The FW are nice looking though. A good way to bring iconography if you play a specific legion.

Does not compute.
According to certain schools of financial thought, all of us are essentially vacant morons with no capacity for higher reasoning who will buy whatever we are told to buy providing the marketing material is carefully constructed and controlled in order to exploit certain psychological qualities. Followers of said school think that there is essentially no limit on how much a person will spend on an "impulse" purchase other than how much money they have in their account at the time. These people are, typically, also the kind of people who think that nothing matters except the next Quarterly result, that any actions taken in the context of capitalism are amoral despite them being considered immensely unethical in any other context, and that the purpose of a business is to funnel profits into the pockets of the board until it goes under, just in time for their old chums from Eton to swoop in with their "asset management" company to pick the bones clean.
As you can probably tell, I am unconvinced by any of the aforementioned positions
As to the piccies, I am actually stunned, the detail and posing is lovely, and despite the fact it would have been cool to have proper robed Chaos Cultists, I think these Cultists(if they all follow a similar aesthetic) are a masterstroke by GW. If someone really wants robed Cultists, there are any number of conversion options available, and actual models would have had a fairly limited applicability, but these chaps sit just at the point that you can use them for just about anything. Stock, with no modification, you can have; Cultists, Traitor Guard, Savlar Chem Dogs, Penal Legion, and Vraksian Renegades. With a simple head- and weapon-swap, you have Catachans that put the old Ramboguard to shame. When you add green stuff into the equation, these minis have massive potential; limiting the Melta-dread and Deffkoptas to the last starter set sold tons to Marine players and Orks, but these cultists, thanks to the Allies rules and their characterful-yet-broadly-applicable aesthetic, will sell to Chaos Marine, Traitor Guard, Imperial Guard, and Space Marine players of almost any stripe.
If all the Marine minis are as amazing as these few examples, I'm going to feel really bad chopping them up for Artscale-fodder, I might even keep one or two back just to enjoy painting them at some point.
Now, more piccehs! I want to see these "action-pose" Ravenwing, and if the Deathwing minis have new poses I can use.

Don't post the name of the store.
They would be losing 1 sale for every 2 they could have made instead of the 2 they would not get if people didn't split 1 because each person couldn't buy 1.
I don't even want to know what kind of GW Wrath that would bring.
Still can't believe there's no photos of Terms, Bikers, or Brute yet. Probably the 3 most talked about minis!

This is what's called a "teaser".
I'm not going to get into it again as I have before, but put simply:
Teasers aren't there to provide a synopsis like an actual trailer is. They're there to "tease", to pique interest, and give an idea when to look for more information.
It does that fairly well--at least if you look at it from the POV of someone who does not frequent sites like Dakka.
Anyways: I like the Chaplain. Can't wait to see the Deathwing now...

Yeah...I have all the Space Hulk minis and they are amazing. These are incredible along the same lines. I've been considering purchasing this box for just the rulebook and either selling off the minis or just painting them up for some fun allies or something. But if both ranges look anything like what I've seen so far, I would like to expand both armies to a respectable force size. Do we have any idea how limited that Chaplain is? I was planning on picking the set up a few weeks down the road, but if it's super limited, I'll have to make sure to preorder next week.

I'm referring more to the chest armour than the Chapter/ legion symbol.. Pre-heresy it was an honour for the Emperor's Children. As these models just have wings rather than a full eagle, would painting them as Fallen go against that background?

Really? Are you serious, or is my sarcasm meter just broken? I think he explained it rather precisely, but I'll give it a shot too.
You quoted almost three dozen people (yourself included) who, at the moment of first sight, wanted to drop the ~$100 without further question. If the first time you had seen those pics was right next to the "Pre-Order" button on the GW website, GW would have their three grand in pocket instantly. Instead, the pre-order doesn't go up until next Saturday, but you've seen the pics now.
If even one of those people changes his mind between now and Saturday, then GW has lost money. That means "showing things at the last minute" makes more money than "showing things early". When you're a corporation, and you find out that X makes more money, then that is what you are supposed to do.
They have confirmed this with their own sales figures. They printed an official statement of exactly that in their annual financial report, which means unless you believe they have committed the actual crime of defrauding investors (as opposed to merely figuratively robbing us blind), then you have to accept it as fact. You don't have to like it - I'm sure none of us do. But, unfortunately, they are right on this one.
So, I'm sorry, but... you're wrong.

As a side note those DA have sculpted on details!!!!! That I just would not have though GW would do tbh.
Good on them though, they do look better for it, and I suppose if it makes them more distinct from vanilla, if only from a visual perspective, that is good.
Might put off vanilla players though but I suppose if people want to expand their SM forces better to buy the battle force anyway. After all who doesn't have 10 million SMs lying around.
+1 to GW for taking the higher risk approach but one that actually makes more sense.

GW have already "removed" him, he will no longer be a threat to the glory of GW.

Do you really think that person is going to come forward. If they are inside GW, then they will lose their job without question. After that GW threat letter, I doubt anyone will want to come out.
Also, 3000 post on Dakka. I have been on here way to long...
Here's to 3000 more!

What interesting is that this is a British WD (see the £ next to the Finecast Models). Normally these leaks come from Denmark or Poland as they get their copies a week early. This is one very naughty individual.

Further cementing my theory this came from inside the company, hence why we probably wont get any more info.

Depends where he lives, in Canada we don't get any prices in white dwarfs. There is still the disclaimer that says prices can change at any time, just no price at all.
I think It's the same printing as the US one, I guess they don't want us to see Canadian prices next to the US ones.

I spot a price tag of 85 euros - what's that in real money (and I don't mean $)

I like the Ravenwing alot!
However...I am supremely disappointed in the Deathwing.
There was so much potential for really making them unique, but as it stands only the Sergeant stands out--and I can make something similar using the dang banners from the Ravenwing Bike Upgrade Sprue right now!

Am I the only one who looked at the cultists and screamed of a cheap way to field a Necromunda gang now? They are perfect!

That is... an almost acceptable price, seeing as AOBR was 100 and the quality went way up.

The way it's layed out, it looks like the chaplin is included in the reguler set.

Well...this particular set has "LIMITED EDITION" on the box, so it's probably not the "regular set".

Right, but he is limited edition, so first X boxes get him in it.
