** Catch-up post on page 50 **
Slimgrin shrieked as he was hoisted into the air by his scrawny ankle, then switched to gibbering loudly as he was shaken forcibly for 30 seconds, reverting back to a shriek as he was flung behind some rubble. Guffrat snorted his displeasure at the lack of ammo to drop out of any hidden depths of the runt's pockets, hefted his tank-hammer and continued down the ruined street. He was pleased with his hammer, he'd scavenged some kind of extending piston, and managed to get some extra-bangy rokkits from Mek GeerSniff which he'd stuck together with some pointy-wire and a load of squig-glue. All he had to do was make sure he got a chance to use it before Skragshiv got off one of his rokkits.
Using a launcher seemed a bit pansy to Guffrat, much better getting up close and bashing stuff, especially big stuff, big humie tanks, big humie tanks which made 'uge 'splosions. Guffrat was almost jumping up and down as he moved, so excited at the thought of flames and smoke and spinning bits of metal.
The grinding noise which had made him come down the alley suddenly restarted nearby, and then the wall to his left flew apart, showering him with dust and small bits of rubble as a blue behemoth smashed it's way through.
"Beakies! Waaaagghh!" he screamed, swinging his hammer hard at the metal hide just feet away from him. There was a brief moment of pure joy as the rokkits exploded, then everything
went dark..
The high-pitched arguments of grots woke him up, something not quite right as he struggled to focus on the annoying little gits below him. Guffrat simultaneously realised three things, two-and-a-half more than he usually carried in his head at once. His mouth hurt, his arm hurt, his legs felt cramped and he seemed to have woken up already standing. He had a nagging feeling his counting was wrong too. Looking at his arm he stared in bemusement at the large chainsaw that had replaced it, and slowly a grin started to appear. Before it became a laugh it started to sag a little as Guffrat slowly realised where he must be. Confirmation was waiting below his waist, in the form of a small tank-tread that had replaced his legs. Using his tongue to worry the holes where several teef had been extracted he looked around for Bad Dok Grimsnik...
So I guess I joined up to keep motivated and it seems the best way to do that is to start up a plog and try to keep it current. I'll try to keep focused and not veer off into too many other projects. I've not really played about with orks apart from about 5 I had from the original Ork Raider set back in RT days, never really felt the green love, but something about the latest bikes got me interested (kinda ironic as I'm not sure I'll be utilising any for this force)
I model and paint (in that order and normally slowly), love the background but haven't really played since RT, but do have an OCD which requires me to make game legal units. Recently picked up the codex and a couple of things jumped at me.
Mad Dok Grotsnik allows cyborks everywhere
Looted wagons "may even be anti-gravity skiffs that the Orks have not had a proper chance to crash into the ground yet." behold visions of dark eldar raiders with boomguns fitted
So I'm looking at a visionary mek, Boss Mek Upzag who has some innate orkystanding of rudimentary gravimetrics, creating deff-koptas out of looted skimmers and the like. He was long ago affiliated with the Blood Axes, where he became aware of the mechanicus adeptus, which seemed to affect his 'vestigachuns into mekaniakal knowledge. Over time he has accrued a large following, captivated by his talk of Gorka-Mekka. At some point in the past he fell in with Bad Dok Grimsnik and together they work on the creation of cyborks, the ultimate expression of Gorka-Mekka, the great green mek.
Which equates to cybork bodies for all units, looted vehicles throughout and some mash-up deff-koptas, thinking about cyboars in place of bikers.
Deff Dread from looted marine dread. Legs from an old Imperial Army sentinel (as is the gun, but that's just a place holder for now) Thought mounting the legs at the shoulder joints made it a bit more squat and orky. Think the eldar power fist came from an old metal war-walker but not sure, the chainsaw's from a sprue of weapons from the original epic games I think, Space Marine or Adeptus Titanicus iirc. Not yet decided which gun piece to use on top mount, thinking about the old vulcan bolter from the epic warhounds as a big shoota, or maybe something a bit more kustom. Probably have it removable so it can be swapped out.
Automatically Appended Next Post:
And the first few boyz, sluggas & choppas and cybork bodies. Went with a few simple arm/leg swaps to start with, want a variety of full cybork bodies to basic bioniks - mainly so that some actually get made, rather than sit on the desk in bits as i try to scratch build a steam powered tracked blender-shoota with squig leather covers, fluffy dice and nitrous injection in place of legs for every grot in the place. tempting idea I know but that would take me so long that there really wouldn't be any point in starting this plog They all need cleaning up a bit still, a bit of gs and some details like wires.
Walker unit came from dreadnought fist and greave, orky shoulder pad and part of a necron gun. Will do another of these with extended legs. And behind him the others rocking a sentinel chainsaw. Should be one in every army
replaced the eyes w sm scout eyepiece and a random bit of plastic, foot from a tau drone and hand from an old-skool space-hulk termie. The other boy has an aircraft landing gear and a claw from out of my bits box, sure I should know where the claw comes from, possibly Inquisitor scale tech-priest?
Fifth boy and a Nob. Boy's body came from an old genestealer hybrid from the Genestealer Space-hulk supplement, think I may use some more, see how it looks once I've tried to gs it. Leg from bits of sprue, arm from chainsword, plasticard and sentinel 'joint-cap' ( my term). Think its an AOBR Nob w a metal plated head and an arm from the same weapon source as the deff-dread's chainsaw arm.

Few more boys waiting on tidy-ups and gs.
One v old plastic orc, which I made back in the day and have given him a chainsaw arm, an old ork 'bolter' and then left him as he was for no other reason than pure whimsy and nostalgia. I don't mind having a real mix of models in there as I'd imagine Upzag & Grimsnik attract a wide variety of freaks, plus I can always claim it to be a product of the Dok's eksperimentz. The other guy had part of his back replaced with a power pack, a burna mask and iron jaw for a head, and a drill-bit for an arm.
These two are still tac'd atm as they need some gs work before assembling, hopefully I'll find some gubbins to cover up my gs skills. The big guys got the legs of an epic warhound with the feet chopped off and a toe-piece from kroot armour. Part of a power klaw made up his choppa hand and he's had a chunk of head replaced w part of a scope - that's gonna need some gs. Also needs some thing around the back waist, connections or power supply or something. His little friend is powered by an epic rhino(old-skool again - even if I haven't improved my skills too much over the years, I have at least improved my bitz box ) with exhausts from a chaos biker. Old-skool plastic orc arm and a sm power fist, and space for a bit of gs to fill.
The old cybork uni-cycle and 2 grots.

Couple of tankbustas still in da surjary
Old epic landraider as a track unit with mega-nob arm as rokkit launcher, head comes from Damien 1427 w orc lower jaw. A few chimera links and a bit of plasticard for the other track unit. need to fill the card w gubbins yet. Made the plasti-card inserts smaller than the tracks to give the impression of wheels behind, but forgot any detailing behind. Also found it was too fiddly putting the whole thing together at once, instead of in stages, heh. Normally would of done, but was really wanting to put it together and hurried it Old squat bike headlight for his head-piece.
The bad dok himself is 'aving a bit of surjary done too.
Body from Inq scale alien bounty hunter (Kasshrak the stalker or something), legs from bits box (i-kore range), arms from AOBR warboss and Damien's alter-ego(Simeon?), skaven backpack and some yet to be found gubbins.
Not sure whether to give him some sort of loincloth/apron, also playing with the idea of a small bionik arm for 'is tools. Removed the bag from under the backpack's tanks as it didn't sit right with it there, lovely fit once it had gone, but need to fill the waist area a bit more now, exhausts maybe. Still playing w the klaw a bit as well, thinking of a three-way closer or maybe drill/saw.
Upzag's still dreaming of air-support.
Looted speeder with sentinel cockpit. One engines gone, to be replaced with either a jury-rigged jet which extends out into the original cockpit area, or a propeller with a disarmed hellstrike missile strapped to the side to make up the difference. Other one's based on some old mech kit, already had a sm jump-pack welded to it, that'll probably get chained down. I'm thinking there'll be a few jump-packs and tau drones strapped and welded to various flyers, possibly even one deff-kopta as just a frame with 3 or 4 tau drones lashed to it
First lot of boys are undercoated and had a slap of orkhide put on 'em, haven't painted ork flesh before, was actually thinking of something fairly light, maybe using some red/flesh washes, but I'll just see what happens with these guys first. Quite happy to have a variety of skin tones across the mob.
And this guy's not done yet, but just took a couple of snaps whilst he was at the front of my desk, apologies for the clutter.
Still needs some tidying with the metal areas, the different metals tend to merge a bit, and a load of detailing. Much happier with the rusty metal irl, almost done, but it looks pretty scabby in the pic.

“'Ere, Snagtoof, 'member dem 'umies on giddy-ups we wos fightin on dat red planet?”
“Wot, da ones we stomped?”
“Yeah.”
“Nah, don't member dem. Hurr-hurr.”
After a few minutes rolling about in laughter, Snagtoof regained the power of speech. “Wot about dem?”
“Who?”
“Dem 'umies.”
“Where?”
“On da red planet. With giddy-ups.”
“Oh yeah, dem. Well dey had these bang spears right, and dey was dead-bangy, and I was finking I could make a kinda 'ammer like one.”
“Ya wanna make an 'ammer like a spear wot goes bang?”
“ A boom-spear, Yeeehhh!”
“Waah-hey! Where'd ya get dis speshul bru anyways, it's right weirdy.”
“Came from da Dok's speshul spores, got a servo-grot ta get it for me. Said 'e could 'ave as many squig legs as 'e could scoff in five minnits if he got me some.”
“How many did 'e manage?”
“Hurr. None. 'E was a tin-job, metal body, can't eat nuffink, just dok's juice. Spent dem minnits running in circles with a squig leg 'anging out 'is mouth, trying ta fink ov wot to do. Den I grabbed it back. Hurr-hurr”
Two boom-spear armed lunatiks.
One of the track units came from the earlier tank-busta with the rokkits strapped to his back, he's getting a mono-wheel instead now, just didn't like the angles he fitted on. One model was supposed to have a bionik arm to represent Guffrat from the first post (he swapped the arm out after persuading the Dok a chainsaw wasn't that good against tanks) but I forgot. Just like I forgot to give one a bottle of Speshul Bru - oh well, still got space on the base well, not much actually Haven't decided yet whether to add fins to the rokkits, maybe one broken one, maybe none. Was thinking about having some chain/rope around the rokkit, but decided I prefered the cleaner lines. which I guess means I'll skip the fins.
Servo-grots ahoy!
The guy with the bino's for a head is going to get blue eyes as opposed to the red/orange of the rest as I think it just looks a bit lost and mournful. Some bodies from old epic scale dreads and robots, that's piping that looks like breasts, hope that'll show when it's painted.
Track unit fom hueycobra/snotling pump wagon and some old metal tank body. The legs on the walker unit were easier than I thought, but I went for cabling rather than pistons to preserve sanity. The guy missing the top of his head is going to get...something.. there, possibly a metal lid, possibly an exposed brain, possibly some pipewok, possibly just a hat.
More imperial epic bits, gnoblar heads, gun from a smoke launcher.
Not forgetting a couple of oilers, an orderly and an eksperimunt...
Realised afterwards the guy with the hood should have had the goblin robed legs, make him a bit more 'mekanikum'. And the plasma-cutters facing a weird angle.
One of the Dok's eksperimunts, we'll see were it goes - possibly just to the squig-pens.
Upzag's had a few set-backs with his gravimetric proceedings and has briefly reverted back to good ol' rotor power. The Dok likes to cultivate a small patch for some of his speshul fungus, which he cultivates along with certain squigs.

Thanks guys.
@Jolly yep, although it's been cut and filed Heads are just about right for a servo-grots body too I reckon
So, still WIP but I thought I'd post a pic of the grots so far, mainly cos I still really like the guy in front.
Had an issue with the green wash, on the two tracked grots the wash dried bright green in the recesses, used thinned thraka green only really affected him and one spot on another Something basic I missed, did I let it get too heavy there?
The boyz themselves have only had a second layer of skin and some tin-bitz layed down so far, and I'm looking at what to re-paint on the deff-dread after examining some photos. Also still debating what gubbins to add aroud the doks waist, mainly thinking wiring and a small exhaust, still not sure about an apron either. Not sure about the base colour yet either, wanted a nice simple black/grey/bone drybrush, but think there might be some issues with the predominance of metallic parts which will be in contact with the ground, may blur boundaries a bit. So maybe a few washes over the top, but I'll wait till I've got a selection painted before looking at that.

Not as much done today as hoped, mainly sat around playing with bits and plotting. Didn't come up with anything much unfortunately, but here's what I got
First flyboy is in the air(he feels a bit naked right now though )
Still needs a bit of cleaning and something to fill the back of the guns, probably cabling. I know they're only shootas not big shootas, but that looked too off balance and mainly I just like these guns (got used as bionic weapons on a few mutants of mine I believe). Not really sure how to base him, standard flying base, metal rod, or pinned to bit of scenery. Any ideas? Was thinking of a squadron composed of just bionikoptas but not sure I could get a good variety, will probably try another one as the other part of the rotor is sitting there, possibly with a horizontal ork and see what else comes to mind.
Skorcha concept
Will square of the back a bit with plasticard to provide a better seat for the turret. Used two sets of tracks together and bodged it slightly(forgot to test fit one part of the plasticard support) but that should get covered with a plasticard edge. Happy with the way it sits when looked at on the level but think maybe it looks slightly unbalanced from higher angles.
Thinking of using this guy as a runtherd
Been thinking a bit about Upzag too. Was thinking about having him on a bike - mainly in an attempt to convince myself I needed the FW warboss, which is definitely out of the question for a while yet. Now I'm thinking that I'll give him a big set of tracks, maybe the old imperial rapier ones, and use as a bike. I'm liking the idea of a tracked attack squig and think these old squat bikes will be cool for oilers -grots for scale
Just gotta figure out how to sit some grots on there now, think I'll go see if any of those grot revolutions have any Think one bike and a trike for oilers, another grot on the back of the trike with some sort of tekkie-gubbins mounted on the pole. Ammo runt on the other bike, maybe swap the back-rest/exhaust for some crates.
...and that's about it for now

Just a quickie before I start today, still working on the Dok, here's my current options:
Best in my opinion is lower-left, with the talos arm, but this uses the same syringe part as his gun plus I've just decided that works better with a pain-boy concept I've got. Least favourite atm is upper-right with the claw, could have that on other side of body, not sure. So what do y'all think?
Now I'll go see if I can do some actual brush work so you're not just looking at grey/green/metal in these pics
edit: also, out of interest what's the preferred treatment of various projects, different threads or adding to old ? I'd kinda like this one not to get de-railed as much as I do, but wondered whether multiple threads was considered forum-whoring in some way?

Ol' gruntknacker is the first completed model, he's been with the dok for some time gradually getting parts removed, not much left now.
Wasn't a fantastic job but was happy with it till I saw the photos The metalwork looks rougher than I thought, there's still a mould line on his eye-pieces and there's what appears to be a fingerprint on the strut - 'sigh' But he's still the first completed figure so he's OK with me Still not quite sure how he managed that as I'm actually working on the boyz and grots (and that dread), but suddenly there he was.

Post by: monkeytroll
Some wip shots of the dread, need to start thinking about the base now really
Re-done most of the rear and various other metal bits, still need to look at the cabling, do the jaw-plate,verdigris the fuel canisters and tidy up a few areas. Oh, and decide what weapons going on top
Oh, yeah, and decide what to do with the eldar power-fist. I'm thinking I might just put a few colour washes over it, either that or very chipped paint-work, but then I'd have to decide on an eldar colour scheme

Thanks Munch. Let's face it, grots are always gonna be more lovable than ugly great tankbusta's like these two:
Another rhino base, this time with a metal stormboy and a titan missile launcher, other guy's arm came from aircraft kit rocket pod and a piece from a Jotun? arm sprue.
Was toying with some ogres earlier, mainly thinking about the plague ogryn I had started, and whilst trying to fit various bits into the cavity picked up a burnaboyz fuelpack and instantly thought of looted servitors A bit of thinking and I thought of big gunz, and so my (very rough) concept:
Still not sure on these, alternate between 'yay' and 'nuh' a bit at the moment, just going to leave them at the edge of the desk for a while and come back later to see if I like them I reckon. Any comments? (there's been no cutting yet -apart from the las-cannon and that was found as is - which is why the tracked servitor still has legs and I was just using las-cannons in place of zap-guns)
Not much progress on painting side, and still a bit stalled with some of the 'koptas, something just not coming together so I'm just fiddling with those for now, maybe start on a couple of the others. I really want to crack on with the boyz and the grots have reached that nasty almost-done stage, which I find is a huge sticking point for me However I have just undercoated the bionikopta and he's grinning at me in a 'I want paint' kinda way.
I think the vague shape of Upzag might be forming, thinking of these 3 torsos now.
An old zoat, an old ogryn and Qouvandias from Inq. The parts were all pretty random just for me to see what some limbs looked like in the mix I'm a bit gutted as I can't seem to find my Krash Thrax model pieces, even checked back in my folks garage, but all I've got left is a head, which has been floating around various projects for some years now. Anyway, I'm tending towards the zoat, with a bit of work there obviously, but I think I see some potential there. Unfortunately that potential has the potential to be ruined by my gs skills, so I may have to put some practice in

edit: shots in am and pm now
Ok, just a quick couple of shots of boyz in progress, just to show I have touched some brushes
So not a lot of paint on them yet, I'm hoping I might be able to update tonight with some more progress. Did learn I need more practice at outside shots, and not to carry fragile minis around in windy conditions
Automatically Appended Next Post:
Not as much as I hoped, ended up fiddling with other stuff, but here's the boyz as of now
Few more straps and boots to do, highlights, and more washes on the metals, then details. Oh, and decide colours for the helmets and the strider-units legs.
Was thinking about black orcs as 'ard boyz, but think I'm going to use those as nobs instead. Toying with either just your standard up-armoured cyborks or completely bionik-boyz. Bionik-boyz would be based on stuff like these babies I found in one of my boxes

I'm liking your work. Very much random bitz and everything put into the mix, and the pieces you've already fully painted look awesome, especially with the rust and all that. There's also 1 ork that just really gets me- the one with the clawy arm and the backwards legs. He's just been screaming velociraptor at me whenever I look at him. Anyway, continue the great stuff, I can't wait for more bionik inventions
30344
Post by: monkeytroll
Thanks Lord Kaesar, and I know what you mean with the velociraptor, the arm was going to someone else originally but when I put it with him it was just a perfect fit It's all about the random bitz as far as mekaniks goes, most of my hobby time is spent rooting through boxes and trying to remember where certain bits are likely to be.
Not much of an update, but figured I'd bump as the last update got auto-appended Looking at options for the skorcha
Was originally thinking of the tank being internal, maybe with a cylindrical hatch at the back as in the last two shots. But the other options appeal too, mainly the top left with the fuel can inserted into the back with a lip all around, if that makes sense. Quite like the side tank, but was thinking of having a grot rigger poking out a hatch there. What does anyone think?
I think I'm going to go with the zoat torso for Upzag, so does fairy power spray work on enamels?

Post by: The Good Green
Cool body on that thing. I like the barrel half in, on the back or the side doesn't matter to me, but if you put it on the side you could still do the back hatch, too.
I'm looking forward to the bionik bodied boyz. The one model looks like a rogue trader era SM, but where is that scifi scarecrow from?

Hmm, that's an idea GG, think I actually have a better candidate for that position anyway now I think of it - although have to wait till I'm back home to check that. Yeah you got an RT era exo-armour, and the tin-man is from an old GW limited ed, forget what it was billed as but the gnome builder that came with him can be found hiding amongst the mutants in my heretical ramblings thread. Now I just need to come up with at least 8 other suitable boyz

Threw down some varnish on the dread.(first image auto-adjusted)
Still needs differing guns for the top placement, and probably a replacement for the one in some of the shots - realised I still hadn't built it as I was setting up for pics, so quickly hacked up a bolter Have left the power fist (turns out it was from an old reaver titan, not eldar) basic for now as I couldn't decide on a colour scheme, and I'm having second thoghts about the jaw plate now. Bunged a touch of weathering powder on the base as it was merging with the legs too much, may have to re-do some of the rubble too to bring the dread out a bit more, but I'll call it done for now.
Just received some of the maximini 'post-apocalypse' bits (ordered a few days before my wallet poked me in the eye to let me know 'no more bits for a few months'). Very nice stuff, little bit of flash but expected that on detail like these, looks like they'll go together well, but more importantly they also come apart rather well The designs make it very easy to chop single legs off pairs, seperate upper/lower arms and you can see pretty clearly how to make similar items with plasticard etc. I'll try to keep a few bits whole for the bionik-boyz, but have already started chopping at them
Two more boyz and the start of a painboy
Gutslumpa there is just trying to decide if he really wants to go back to the dok as he's worried about what else will get 'fixed'. Scraped at his head a little to try and emphasise the one eye wide look, hard to see in rl, let alone in these pics. Other guy has leg part from the above mentioned parts. Painboy will be on a track-unit, unsure as to his left arm as yet.

Purely for gaks and giggles some army shots, first pip then wip (including the 2 finished minis) - apologies for the flash on the last
Just noticed the grot bikers have absconded from the group shot, every time I turn around a grot goes walk-about I swear
Would like some advice on these 2 guys
The biker came just because there happened to be a wheel laying on a sentinel sprue and I realised there was a good fit there, at first was thinking it might make a good start for a buggy, maybe combined with one of the old metal sentinel bodies. I have the old style and the very old egg-style ones sitting around and I keep playing with them as buggy bases for my swamp rats. Just to keep it propped on my desk I picked up a bit of undercarriage and it was a bike I think. Little big to be a standard cybork I think, but maybe a bit small for a bike? Feel it would get a bit cramped once it was loaded up, which while not necessarily a bad thing on orky stuff, would ruin the lines of this as is. Maybe a mek or nob, or another painboy? Or could be a bike I suppose, dakka on either arm, slugga and chainsaw under-slung. That might work, but I was thinking of having cy-boars replace bikes, and maybe have some nob bikers. I'll probably still use one as buggy base anyway, but anyone want to throw their thoughts into the mix?
As for the other guy some GS advice if anyone could please. He was going to be hovering on a drone type thing, but then I decided on a hovercraft I've put a couple of strips down for a rough guide to the skirt curve and now need to lay the sections. My plan was to roll out a strip the width of my cushion segments (I'm thinking 8-10 in total) the length of half the total needed - I plan to do it in 2 stages so as not to squash my work, maybe even 3 if it starts to lok dodgy. Leave the rolled strip for 10-15 minutes then cut into lengths, one piece per segment. Lay the segments down adjacent to each other, setting the curve as I want, tiny gap betwen each segment. Then start to merge the segments together, creating the 'seam' between each. Does this sound about right, my main use for gs before this project was filling, although I 'played' a little, and badly, with milliput many moons ago.
Any comments or advice appreciated, thanks for looking.

After some advice for this guy too:
I'm wanting a 'suspended in gunk' look, and I'm a bit unsure on how to go about it. I have some old monomer (used for making optical lenses) laying about that I know I can tint with inks, and that would be the best solution I think, although previous experience warns me that could give me air bubbles/vortices - it looked okay in the 'magic mushrooms' I was making at the time, but not sure it would improve this . I also have no idea if the monomer would react with the paints at all, but I'm fairly confident that it won't.
The other option is a heavy wash on the inside of the perspex, not sure this would really give the look I'm after.
So, any advice, any other options I'm not thinking off?
The grot has been glued to the perspex but not the base, although I may be able to detach him - I know I shouldn't have glued him without a solution in place, but...I did.

Yeah, the monomer is a type of resin and looks like I'll try that, I'm not convinced colouring the plastic will work - not that I'm convinced this will either
Probably won't do it till next weekend now as the resin's over at my folks, but I'll post pics whatever happens.
Built up the painboy, head and spike-arm are blu- tac'd for painting.
He will probably go with the nobs, haven't decided about flash gits yet. Was kind of going for a mad proffesor/organist type pose, manically waving his hands/tools above his next vict... patient. Was thinking of making a dok's table for Grimsnik, but maybe this guy needs one
I may have a go at the hover-boy tomorrow/later tonight, depends if I feel the greenstuff-fu is strong in me or not Think I may be back on track with the original 2 deffkoptas, but I'll wait to see if that continues.
Thanks for looking.

Love the mono track and the dok's tols; this guy will look awesome with some more detailing. Will you be adding a power source of some kind, or sme bigger exhausts? Or do you want the focus on the front of the model?

edit: and done
lol, I was thinking about it needing a power source, then decided it was fine. Now that you've mentioned it though I've been looking at it again and yeah, it does need it, which I guess means I'll have to up the exhaust to balance
I'll sift around a bit and see what I can find, now I'm gonna want to do this now rather than sleep

CommissarKhaine - Thanks, I keep finding I skimp when it comes to power/exhausts, have a few where I do need to add something still, and the fact that someone notices means I'm more likely to finish the job properly, rather than just pass it off as ork-tech (not that I won't use that excuse for some things anyway )
Tobber - Thanks, I haven't really considered mega-nobz to be honest, it looks like I'm going for completely bionik 'ardboyz which means I'd probably end up doing some kind of 'bigga-killa-robot-fing innit?' and although that's a cool idea I'm not convinced I'm either up for it or capable of pulling it off well
Oh, bugger, now I've got killa-robots buzzing around my head to go with the inspektor gadjit bionikopta
Arakasi - Thanks a lot. Yeah, I've noticed he does, guess that's why he's a Commissar heh?
Warboos - Thank you
Well, just a bit of fiddling today, but am happy with the concept for another loot-and-fix kopta
Upzag thought it would be cool to weld a couple of dark eldar bikes to a drone. Imagine that's chains not wire (I seem to have misplaced/used most of my chains) and they're attached to some gubbins on the drone to steer with. Was thinking of having foot-holders, but decided against it, and still undecided on fitting. Was originally thinking to mount weapons in the holes for the front carapace on the bikes, but then I decided to use the armour-piece he's standing on rather than a smaller plasticard sheet, which gives the option of 'under-wing' mounts. Actually I think I may well borrow Arakasi's fit from his Scorpion-class 'kopta, rokkits under wing, guns in nose, and a front-piece for when the guns are out. Yep, that's it but obviously smaller
Also needs a bit of wiring and maybe a length of chain just to help keep the bikes secured to each other.
One nob, with looted smurf monowheel
No back shot as this guy is still awaiting gubbins on the back, err...possibly a power/exhaust type thing Have to see how a few more turn out before I decide where he's going, he was just going to be in my nob-pack, but on that wheel he's a big guy, I had to cut a slot in the base and sink him a bit, he's close to the Bad Dok. If he stays that dominant after I've got a few more nobz together I'll put him in charge of some of the boyz.
The bike part will probably get the same bubonic brown that the dread got, it's the colour of my bloodfists chapter. I'll keep most looted SM parts from them, with a smattering of others - need to have some blue-smurf loot
And lastly, fairy power spray - my new best friend
Considering most of these were caked in 20year old, thick enamels I was impressed - the 2 guys at the top aren't for the orks. Was just going to try sculpting an ear on the zoat face left side and turn the right into bioniks, but looking at it now it's clean I notice the left eye is compound. Have to try smoothing it with gs. I'll keep the power-fist as a PK and replace the right arm, and have to either smooth over the scales on his back or cover them with some tekky-gubbins, more likley the latter.
Thanks for looking.

Ok, no update I'm afraid, but I will make sure next post has something other than 'songs' or 'silly mini's in it Just be thankful it was only words on a screen, not actual sounds from me.
Jolly - Think I've already covered that with one of the servo-grots Not sure if I like it scaled up to ork size. Thanks for the link though, do like that stinger.
Hadouken - strange, I also looked on wiki and found no mention of the appearance of monkeytroll, they must have misplaced the files.
Tobber - just don't go expecting a big song and dance routine whenever you post
Just out of interest, I take it mega-nobz have 40mm bases? No reason, just curious
And has nobody any suggestions for 'trike-boy', guess I may end up just adding some junk to a base for him to ride on as a nob then.

Nightbringer's Chosen - Thanks for the link, not sure how available that is in the UK, and I'm fairly sure I'm going to give the monomer a go over the weekend, but silicon is a good idea I hadn't thought of, may look into it for future stuf.
HadoukenAvenger -
Arakasi - heh, that's ok, when I saw the details on your scorpion-class kopta I had to go back over yours as I wasn't sure you'd used anything similar on the other vehicles.
1 - thanks
2 - I really like how 'velociraptork' looks, hadn't made that connection but can see it there
3 - yep, and yep Been toying with the idea of a few more like it, just because he's so cute
4 - I do keep wondering about the size thing, I know it probably makes a bit more sense to go the stormboy route, originally I wasn't planning on any stormboyz. At the moment my plan for the 'koptas is 3 units, one of grav-type vehicles, one lot of rotored(?) 'koptas and one lot of bionikoptas (I think it may have something to do with having coined bionikoptas I want to be able to use the term - apologies if it has been used by others already). I may wait till I have a fewq more in the air before making final decision on that.
5 - Thanks, wasn't sure about it myself, was fairly happy when it first went on, then stumbled across Whatwhat's excellent GS tut and thought 'hmmm'
6 - that's probably because they were just cobbled together in about a minute after my initial I'm going to just let them stew for a while yet, I like the concept but unsure of the application - mobile artillery's all good, but as not sure of the whole guns on legs idea. Now that's pretty weird considering a lot of my previous (and planned) conversions, but like I said I rapidly switch between Yay and nay over these, hence leaving them for a while - which probably means I'll grab the parts for use elsewhere whilst they're stewing, hate to think what the IG are going to say when they realise the trouble I may have when I actually get round to adding tracks to their chimeras
7 - Glad you like the paint so far, I know that's the part where I tend to lose my way
8 - My main issue with 'triker-boi' is size, the 3 wheels barely all touch a 40mm base, but as I know there'll be several others who have to get 'biggerised' bases it's probably not such a big deal as I think. Haven't thought of how to deal with lootas yet, not really a fan of the over both shoulders look.
9 - Proceed? you mean I've got to stop procrastinating on dakka and get back into the workshop?
The Good Green - Thank you, and props to a certain Commissar for prodding me with the painboy . We'll see how the resin works out this weekend and then decide if he's going to his original use or another. The jetbike's having a slight re-think on the steering mechanism, reckon I'm gonna switch the chains for a cable running up the front yoke-type thing and splitting further up, mainly to avoid the chains getting in front of any dakka protuding from the bikes front.
Finch Claw - Thank you, and I'll try and keep you interested
Damn, sorry for the wall of text there, better take Arakasi's advice and go to it, hopefully more pics soon.

Now I had a good plan in place before starting on 'hover-boy'.
1-Measure the circumference of the base unit.
2-Divide circumference by 8 or 10 to figure how wide each section of the cushion should be.
3-Figure out how long each section should be.
4-Roll out some GS and leave for 20mins.
5-Cut to length/width required - planning for a third of the sections to avoid ruining undried work.
6-Repeat twice over 2 days.
So quite obviously I went ahead and tried it at just gone midnight with no measuring in one hit
Considering that I'm fairly happy, but it's obviously not the best job in the world.
The orky bits are still to be finalised, will probably be using that torso and the jet (with a few more gubbinses between it and the body), but not those arms or head - probably a trukk driver head. Lightly textured the gs with a few rolls of a trusty exacto handle, need to add a plaster-type patch or two I think.

Thanks guys, I think that you've pretty much covered the reasons I went ahead the way I did. The reason I had planned it was that I was thinking it cay be a test pice for a larger hovercraft at some point - it's an idea I've been wanting to add to my Swamp rat IG since whenever I started them (back when codex:catachan was released). I know chimeras are amphibious but I really wanted some sort of acv like the couple that were used in Vietnam, in fact it tends to be the 'wish list model' I refer to when I place FW orders Never have found a decent hovercraft kit I could use though. The pose will definitely be changing when he gets glued, I just tacked on the closet bits I had to see how he would look. Although what's wrong with a dancing air-cushion ork?
A quick aside to anyone reading who thinks I may have been a bit off/more incoherent than usual the last few days (wherever I posted), I'm quite confidently explaining that as the effect of living in solvent fumes for several days. I discovered last night that I'd left a bottle open in my workroom since Monday/Tuesday and as I live in a small houseboat (read trailer-park home on a pontoon) I've no doubt I've suffered somewhat: headaches, slight nausea and a general feeling of 'bleggh', plus an inclination to keep out of my workroom. So please remember kiddies - make sure you've closed paint/glue/meths/rum/whatever when you're finished with it

Don't know if its been said; but for the guy that's suspended, why not try a clear gel agent that you can pour into the container? You can even get some that you can dye different colours to get different effects you want.
I don't recall the name of any product off hand, but I always venture down the faux flower isle' at hobby stores for this stuff as a lot of people use it for making the water in the "vase" for their fake flowers.

Good Green - Thank you.
So fair bit of messing around done but very little of it got to a view-worthy stage
Old greensteela with another claw from a PK and an old ork arm - think from a mek. Still needs some GS work. Didn't get stripped with the others as part of the arm had already been attached at that point, although I have at least one more grot in same colours (my old steela cult) that didn't get stripped either.
Came up with a better idea for Grimsnik's dok's tools

Just an idea. Hope it helps. I like your creations!

Hey thanks guys, glad the servo-skulls a hit
GG - The skull comes from some old banner top, I bought a few back when GW still played nice with modellers and let us buy bits That's something I'm finding with Dakka, I keep coming across ideas that I thought were totally unique to me, which wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't also thinking 'damn, that's better than the image I had'
Lord Shag - not sure that would work here as I'm going to have to fill from the top down (already wondering how I'm going to pull it off with resin), but that is a pretty cool idea and I can think of a few other places where I might use that. If I ever get round to those ideas that is
Upzag's finished upgrading his own servo-skull
swapped the top of the skull with another Inq arco-flagellants head, still need to GS the gaps, and possibly add a mechandrite coming from underneath. Not convinced I'll be using the support in that position, but think I will use guitar string for the support.
Hover-boy back out of the surjary (head blu- tac'd for painting)
\not sure about the helmet decoration, wanted something there but looks a little busy with the shoulder pad, maybe file down the pad, or maybe lose the hair. And just noticed I havent riveted the jet to his back properly yet, hope those chains are tight. Was going to add 1 or 2 cables around the rear too, but actually I'm happy with it as is there. For now Also noticed I have a habit of starting sentences with a conjunction when on forums, very poor.
And first of the bionik-boyz ('ard boyz)
Arms and 1 foot not glued yet as pincers need cleaning up and other arm and gun still need a bit of work - need to shape shoulder a bit better and fit a better magazine and barrel to the slugga. I managed to snap one foot off but I'll replace it with something else and use that foot elsewhere - the legs came from maximini, the torso is 2 marine backs and the slugga arm comes from the old spacehulk libby. Decided the bionik-boyz will still have flesh heads (mostly), mainly as I wasn't sure I'd come up with enough heads.
Doing a bit of playing around with sentinel based mega-nobz, partly because I decided the baneblade headlights and the ogre man-trap made a cool orky head and I couldn't think of anywhere to use it However I can't find the Inq scale robot I was building based on a sentinel, and I really want to look at that first as I'm sure I'd armoured it up a bit and had interesting ideas about weapon mounts, but I can't recall what they were.
edit: Actually the sentinels, might make better kans. Must....find...missing...model.

Note to self: Listen to Arakasi !
Arakasi - That means he'll keep the squig-hair plume, can't beat a flying ork centurion
Finch Claw - Thank you!
CommisarKhaine - Thanks, at the moment it's just a choppa, it is supposed to be held up a bit, blu- tac failed as I was taking shots I'll probably wait till I have a few more assembled before making final decision on that though, it still might get swapped out for another arm.
Will have to wait a couple of days to see how the grot-in-a-jar turns out, but it may be a fail at this point. Not looking forward to fiddly wire work again if so, also not looking forward to finding another jar Still might not be as bad as it loks at present, may sort itself out a bit as it cures. Resin went in ok, but issues started when I tried to colour it. Couldn't spot my GW green ink so used some Windsor&Newton instead, but it just formed blobs instead of spreading. Bit of poking and stirring made a few blobs sink from the surface and I thought I could use that look, added a bit of thraka green, same thing, tried a touch of red and yellow GW inks more of the same. I'm now wondering if it was food colouring I used last time I played with this stuff (about 12 years ago). Wasn't really the look I wanted, but thought it could work, then knocked it over Was sensible enough to be doing it inside a larger receptacle, so poured it back in and it went a murky colour, got a bit messy as I tried to assemble the whole thing so I could turn it right way up, hoping the colour might sink a little to give a gradiated effect. But it just looks murky now, too murky to see the grot in fact. Have to see what happens tomorrow - which is another stupid point as it sets under UV, daylight will work but I started as night fell
Oh well, have to wait and see I guess, typical orky enjuneering

Oh no! I'd say, dump it out if it hasn't cured yet... but you probably won't read this before it's too late - so... I'd say, as long as the grot is visible it's not a total loss. :(
The new models are cool. Is that a FW leg on the last guy? I think the ork head looks much more demonic with his jaw cut off. Kinda funny.
I like the new servoskull, too. I can't really see the engine bit, but the arco-head bit is a nice mek-ish version compared to the docs tools. The mechandrite sounds like a good idea, but it's hard to say if it would work, with all the tendrally wires in the back... might be too much, of course paint could fix that I suppose.
Looking good All the best with that grot in the mud pot.

BlutEisenRegel - the idea flitted briefly across my mind but I wasn't sure how well it worked with that sort of depth, guess I may have to mess about a bit with various stuff for future reference.
CommissarKhaine - pretty much a fail as you'll see in a moment, c'est la vie.
The Good Green - Just as I was getting into bed I decided to do just that. Too little, too late, I should consider that as a motto of mine I feel Thanks, the legs come from maximini, they have some very nice stuff and have just released a set of mono-wheels, so think my plans to not spend any more on hobby just yet may have flown into the warp If I put the mechandrite coming from where the support currently is I think it'll be OK, at the moment I just think it needs another 'tool' type thingummy. My main concern is the support, it does interfere with the engine view I think.
Dakka_Dok - I thank you for your kind words good sir.
So, as mentioned above, I prised apart the glued pot in order to dump the uncured 'mud' and after a quick peek realised I'd made a schoolboy error which contributed to the murky look. I forgot to seal the grot before gluing him in there Normally everything moves at the pace of a one-legged sguiggoth, but occasionally I get a burst of speed on, and in my haste I tend to feth it all up .
Well, I did say I'd post pics whatever the outcome, but I warn you now, dey ain't pwetty
Honest, there's a grot in there.
Can just see some of the damaged paint on the grot, and can see the wires have been pretty well stripped.
A dim, murky shape just visible. I may use this just as part of a scenery piece or something now, the original plan is scrap, but there may be something salvagable from it yet. Just another jar on the Dok's shelves, it'll probably work alongside some of the other ideas I have, but it could also be used like this:
I quite like this actually, depends on whether I can be bothered trying to figure out where any of my leds/resistors etc are, which probably means it'll stay as just a jar
May as well let on that the original plan was for it to become the basis of a killa-kan. A leg and power unit underneath, a couple of reinforcemnet struts up the sides and a single arm off the top using the saw/flamer combo from a penitent engine. I'll throw that idea out there for anyone as I don't have another 'jar' handy at present.

I would detach the grot from the container (or break the container), redo the grot (properly this time!) and then find another container to attach him too (trialling the fill on an empty one first!)
But that's just me
Wouldn't want to waste a great idea on an inferior one

I'd set up the LED system for the time, while I looked for a new container before busting the grot out. I think it looks very cool as a terrain piece. See if you can give the grot a quick green wash to sure up his color then stick him back on the light. I think he would come through the glass a little better... maybe.
Definitely redo it, tho! A whole new attempt or salvaging this one, just make that happen because it's awesome!

Thanks guys, I think this ones going to stay as is, maybe with leds, maybe not, and going to some Dok based scenery. I will be keeping an eye out for potential containers for a similar attempt at a kan, and yes Arakasi, I'll try to find 2 so I can teat it first, will skip the monomer though. I think I'll go for the aqua gel stuff if I can find some, the garden centre had stopped doing it so It's another thing i'll be looking for.

Monkeytroll, I know you're not happy with the resin-grot experiment, but I love it. I can see all sorts of possibilities.
For example, it really looks like dirty ice. You could make a model with a "freeze gun" burna, with the grot being the frozen test subject. That would work really well if you put some soft blue LED's in the bottom of it.
Or, you could do a diorama showing your Big Mek and Pain Dok working together to put a grot into a Killa Kan, while another one sits nearby (either as in a jar of formaldahyde [sp?] or frozen).
Have you considered looking at some of those clear plastic ball-ish things that the quarter toys come in?
Just from my experience, pouring clear resin takes a LOT of prep work, and a willingness to do alot of wet sanding after the pour. I wish you the best of luck, however!

Post by: indiana1000
What models did you use to make that?
30344
Post by: monkeytroll
Well, it's more I'm disappointed that it wasn't what I wanted than just plain unhappy with it, I can see a few uses for it as is. It will get used somewhere, don't worry It may even be a tiny bit clearer as I've had it in and out of a UV box at work to cure any traces of the monomer left - some will have adhered to the grot which is why I'm not planning to remove and re-use hm elsewhere.
I'll resist the temptation to go down the Mr Freeze route, as a large ork with a freeze-ray will only serve to remind people of the travesty that was Batman & Robin The plastic-ball things are just what I need for something else, thanks for that, although we don't have those weird 'quarter' things you use over the pond
Yeah, I messed with standard clear resin a few times back in my youth, which is why I was trying to avoid that, the optical monomer is something I've used before and doesn't require all that sanding.
Edit: indiana1000 - the main part is thunderbird4 from the IMAI Thunderbirds:Rescue Kit, absolutely no idea which of the hundreds of sci-fi vehicles I had as a youngster that particular gun came from though.

I call for an update!

Post by: monkeytroll
Finch - all hail Gerry Anderson! Hmm, mind wanders off into orks looting bits from all the Anderson shows...
Hadouken - the call is heard. But not answered just yet.
Seem to have been sapped a bit more than usual by work last couple of weeks, plus doing a Bloodfist marine for porkuslime took a while - I paint REALLY slowly. So slowly that it's not worth showing pics of the bits that have been done to the cyborks. Plus most of the modelling has been more getting concepts of the concept - again nothing worthwhile there yet. Have put a bit of gs on to the zoat to start turning it into Upzag - need to do more to the eye yet.
Was in Cambridge today, so decided to pop into GW and pick up a box of kans for bits as suggested by Arakasi. Silly idea as I came out with more grots, a pirahna (to get looted obviously) and some boar-boyz for my cyboarz. Really had to fight against picking up another IA book too. Don't let my bank manager know. Anyhow, as I write this I'm clipping sprues, so something should appear soon
I've just realised I really miss the old-style GW boxes too, the ones with a sleve around the box - the inner box was so useful for dropping bits in, I have..umm..a lot..of those with various projects in, they were really good for that, the newer one piece boxes are crap for keeping bits in. Using battleforce or vehicle lids just means they get tipped over at some point - not that I can't do that anyway

Ok, quick pics to show I am doing SOME painty type stuff
One of my lights just blew and I can't be bothered to get lamp from other room, so apologies for poor quality, have auto-adjusted second(hopefully) of each.
With the painboy, not sure if I should paint up more of the track unit, or keep it metallic. Was thinking the side plates might benefit from some red. All still PIP. Happy with skin on the first guy, pleased with how he's looking so far. Others need another highlight on skin, maybe 2, then mainly straps, bit more highlight/shading and details.
Couple of boars have been in for some impromptu amputations too. Automatically Appended Next Post: Hadouken - Did mention dark eldar looted as one of the inspirations for these guys, and there is a falcon and a vyper in Upzag's workshop But I don't think they'll be recognisable after they've been hacked up
gewaltatron - I thank you sir And the painboy wouldn't be quite so good without the nudge from CommissarKhaine
NecronBender, JDM - Thanks guys, it's the support of Dakka that keeps it going - however slowly

Post by: CommissarKhaine
Love that painboy! Maybe add some worn hazard stripes around the track unit if you want to break it up?
30344
Post by: monkeytroll
Thanks guys, did a bit of both, didn't think I'd be able to pull of the stripes on the track unit itself, wishing I'd tried now, will bear it in mind for next tracks.
So a few more pics, close to finishing
Not sure what the splotches on the arm are, can't see them in rl. Really do like the look of this guy, just need to go tidy up the eyes and decide on whether to tint the lips or not. Was thinking of a red/pink/orange glaze over the lips, maybe a touch of pink on the nose.
Need do do something with the air-cushions here. Had a grey drybrush then a devlan wash so far, not sure what next. Helmet needs tidying, hover unit needs dirtying. Axe fittings and arm bands still to do. And still needs something adding near the exhaust, may have to leave for now and re-visit later.
Helmet, wires arm-rags and boot still to go. Probably paint jaw red too, plus a bit of work on the skin.
Need to tidy up a few details and do the arm straps, pretty much it. Toyed with blood-stained mask but think I might just grubby it up a bit instead. Definitely prefer it with a bit of colour other than metallics on there, not sure if I should go for the stripes on the track-unit, it needs something htere to contrast with the actual tracks, but I think hazard stripes now will look a little busy. Maybe just rust it up a lot inside there with paint and some weathering powders. Also need to paint up the various wires and probably replace the moulded wire still in place on the power-plant.
servo-grots and an orderly. Orderly probably will be getting blood-stained, and just dirty.
da servo-skullz. Lenses on the mekzkull, weathering and details on the dokzkull - including the mekkadendrit which was constantly being moved during painting as it's so flexible. May have to give it a few extra coats of varnish, or maybe some pva glue once it's done to stiffen it ever so slightly.

Post by: monkeytroll
My thanks.
So I thought these guys were finished till I saw the pics
Gutslumpa still has green fingernails - oops
Zyklopz needs the wires tidying - not surprising I was going cross-eyed doing all the wire-work, but not frustrating funnily enough, in fact I actually enjoyed that part. Also needs some weathering to the base. And has green fingernails.
The hovva-centuriork also has green fingernails and still needs something adding to the back
Dok Herbork Wezt needs a bit of tidying around the power-plant and some rust to either the tracks or the unit - probably the tracks.
But essentialy they're done
edit: also finished the dokzkull, but put it to one side until I decide how I'm basing it. May attach to the dok, his base or have a seperate base.

I love Dok Herbork Wezt, he's the most awesome Pain/Mek boy ever!!!
30344
Post by: monkeytroll
Yggdrasil - Thank you kindly
Dark Lord Mr Fluffy - I thank you kind sir, not least for adding an exclamation I was not expecting to see No the doks and meks love a good battle cannon hit - they get a gak-load of spare bits Don't have a true tried and tested technique for rust, tend to try differing approaches and get various results. Lately I've been experimenting with a few splodges of dark flesh and orange, followed by various red, brown and orange washes and inks, followed by drybrush of chainmail or boltgun. Had some good results on a few bases, but decided I wanted to try messing with weathering powders a bit more.
Mixed up a bit of Mig standard rust with some water and painted a few dabs on the tracks.
It dries pretty quickly, then I took a wet brush and smeared it around to cover a good area.
Once dry I took a short, hard brush and just brushed at the dried powder till I got the effect I wanted. Then with a dry brush added a little Mig light rust and brushed it in.
I used the wet powder to start with as I wanted pretty extensive rusting, otherwise I'd have just used dry powder.
Gutslumpa very worried now. This pic actually shows up something I'm not overly happy with, and that's the weathering on the orange sheet and the yellow trim. It doesn't fit with the rest of the model and I'm still not quite sure why I decided to use that style there.
The latest batch undergoing surjary at the moment
The Nob will get his legs lengthened just a tad. The second guy was a very old chaos warrior which I converted to a space ork back when Rogue Trader was new. Given him new boots, axe and head, but decided not to strip the paint as there's a lot of chaosy skull details and by painting over the already several coats thick paint I'm hoping to get some shapes which look like they've been bashed into vague skull shapes. Guy on a stalk was going to be a mek, but may yet become a painboy, needs tracks or wheels under the sentinel toes and the 'eye' needs filling with gs to make a single orb. Next up are two classic meks one with a mkb and one with a servo-harness type affair which will have either a kmb or a slugga/choppa type affair. Last come the mega-nob concepts which are probably getting scrapped. I'm having trouble getting a heavily armoured look going for the sentinel one and I think the other one will actually fit better in with my rogue trader/ad mech.

Gah! Pfft! Urggh! Film? Film? FILM? I think you'll find you meant comic there. Please don't offend people with the memory of that, what did you call it, film.
PDH - Actually I have plans for a mean machine style one, originally was going to use the arm on the above nob, but err, the nob got it Gutslumpa's actually holding the remains of his bionik-choppa, but just realised I didn't make that clear anywhere, what I get for using too recognisable a piece, should have gone the scrath-built arm route I guess, but I went with my original image. Yuo've just got to take it slow when shaping guitar wire I've found. I use some sort of needle-nose pliers make a tiny bend, move the pliers a fractional amount and make another tiny bend, repaet till done. I generally start with a piece that I KNOW is going to be too long, start shaping from one end, ensuring I've left enought straight to fit in the hole it'll be glued in. Keep comparing it to the place it'll be occupying, snip the end off when you're happy. If you leave it so you need to squeeze it slightly when fitting I find it helps keep it in place, and I always (he says) glue after painting. I also tend to use a variety of wires and cables - twisting copper wire together in different configurations gets some interesting cables - most of the wires used across the cyborks, especially the servo-grots, use this. Floral wire is also very good for plain cables, or even wrap a bit of copper wire around floral wire.
Wow didn't mean to waffle on wire quite so much.
Hadouken - Do you turn red and burst out your clothes? The senty might still survive, getting a bit stressed that I can't find the version I was building for Inquisitor, I'm sure I've been through all my boxes a couple of times now, and I'm sure I've seen it this year somewhere The ther ones not getting scrapped so much as re-claimed by the Adeptus Mechanicus. Possibly. Sometime. Soon( TM).
Reprisal - Thanks for the support. I think the same thing about my ideas when flicking through the gallery or various blogs - I keep seeing better versions of stuff I'm planning that I was sure no-one else would have thought off It's all good though, keeps us improving, I think and hope anyway.
Ooops. Sorry for the poor pics to words ratio there, I'll try to do better next time
edit: (not this time, obviously, I mean NEXT time)

In my defense I never said it was a good film. To the extent that only two things in the film were any good. Mean Machine, those special effects looked bloody good. Unlike the flying bike and Dredd taking him helmet off - come on no ones face really looks like that!!!!
While googling the name of the Decommissioned Combat Robot from the film (the other good thing) looks like Karl Urban will be playing Dredd...filming starts this Autumn.
Thanks for the tips on guitar wire...I enjoy waffle (you're read my log ) A further little question..Why do you glue it in place after painting?

Oh God, now that's started a whole new train of thoughts going! Haven't seen any Nemesis inspired Inquisition yet No..be firm...be strong...continue with the cyborks...GorkaMekka commands it!
And as for the post-painting wire gluing, that's generally because I seem to choose cable placements that would cause me real headaches when painting so I just leave it off as a matter of course - although I have changed that with the current deffkopta, the wires were too fiddly to want to attempt after painting and aren't badly placed so they got glue.

OK, so the vyperbyker has a couple of options at the moment - helped out by the stormboyz set I had to pick up after looking at the rokkit paks in a few plogs - mainly Arakasi's stormnobz
So my first thought was with added intake under the body. I like it a lot, but I like the fairly clean lines it has, which is not particulary orky.
Second thought was to strap some rokkits to it - breaks up the eldar lines a bit better.
And so the obvious third thought was 'why not both'
Wanted a bit of feedback on the 3 options as I was see-sawing between them all, but think that I'm heading for the third option now I've looked at them a bit more. Guess I'll see what I think tomorrow
Thanks for looking.

My corrupting influence is spreading Actually, I was mightily impressed by all of the rokkitty goodness in the Stormboyz box - would have been good to know *before* my Deffkoptas...

I would suggest cutting off the wings unequally, say at the first scribe line on one, then the second line on the other side...then make bolted-on wing extenders and fins. Should take care of the orky.

Looking great! My personal favourite is number two since it has a great sense of speed to it. Paint it red and you're all set . The rokkit pack underneath makes the model very tall, which detracts a bit from the sleek look IMO -not to mention it makes me wonder how he lands

An ork flier... landing? Now There's an interesting concept. Course, he doesn't exactly have landing wheels in the first place, so it's more of a fall and fly thing than go up, fly, come back down, fly another day...
30344
Post by: monkeytroll
Commander Cain - Thank you. The work will continue for as long as the community keeps my ADD at bay
Lord Kaesar II - preference noted, thank you.
Hadouken - as above
Arakasi - Your particular brand of corruption most welcome (not by my bank manager tho), just don't let papa nurgle hear that Yeah, some nice bits in there, it was the 2 intakes you'd used that really caught my eye, for use on bikes, koptas, whatevers.... and having opened the box I then had to go and order a few spare bits
Oh, and it's a 'kopta with KMB Although I've got a few more ideas using the support piece with ork attached.
Briancj - Nice idea, if you zoom in on the pics you may be able to make out a bolted on support on one of the wings, and although it doesn't show in the pic that piece has been trimmed 'out of shape'. I decided that would be just as effective as replacing it May add some more fins now you mention it though.
Commissar - You had to mention the p-word didn't you? the rokkit pad underneath is only a couple of mm deeper than the actual wings, but that was my concern over option 3, although I still think it looks superb as option 1 - just not orky enough. Which comes into play with option 2 I find. From the side it just looks a little too sleek and still has an eldar feel to it. As for landing, he uses the gravimetriks to nestle ungently onto a special perch where he is untenderly cared for by attendant painboyz and meks It's not like after he's landed he can go walkabout anyway Although at least one of those ideas mentioned to Arakasi involved 'plug-and-play' cyborks, as do a few other concepts floating about.
Lord Kaesar - Well, I could refer you to CK's answer, or I could invent a new one...like : As for landing, any surving deffkoptas that actually manage to make it back to base end up entangled in a giant net that the servo-grots erect, and then the meks get several hours of fun un-entangling the assorted flyboyz - usually with buzzsaws, burnas and very large hammers - more bitz for the next generation
Well the on-wing rokkit paks are definitely going on, I think the under-body rokkit will too, but I won't glue that down till I've finalised a design for the KMB, just so I can see how it looks.
Thanks for the input guys

People do it to me all the time as well - figured I'd return the favour . On a more serious note: I thought it stuck out a lot more, a few mm makes it less of a problem IMO- though I'd still love to see him land - I think the huge magnetic cranes they use in carwreck yards would offer opportunities here . In the end, it comes down to personal preference I guess : I like the sleek, speedy look, you prefer a bulkier, more 'flying on powah rather den wingz' approach. Your models, so your choice!

PDH - Ohh a promotion, yippee!!
Thank you, unique and crazy is a good summation of the look I was going for.
Scarper - Thanks man, good to hear they're all interesting.
I think it's more of a bits room than a bits box these days Then again I did get my first mini almost 30 years ago now (a grenadier models dwarf archer if I recall correctly - who got red armour and clothes, blobs of flesh on hands and face and brown on the bow and arrows ) and don't have a very extensive finished model collection - damn my sloth-like pace.
And I agree, Gutslumpa is my favourite so far
CK - Grrr, now I've got ideas for a full-on orky airport with launch platforms and landing cradles - 'sigh'. That'll have to wait till that long-lost rich uncle dies and leaves me a fortune so I can get somewhere with enough space. To be honest, I'm still undecided about the underneath intake, and think it may stay that way till it's finished, I forsee painting it up still unattached and deciding then Although checking over this post I've just started thinking about a similar one with rokkit-launchers under the wings - maybe I can have both versions
Arakasi - True dat! Although they're not so weedy once they get in those exo-suits and armour.
Bishop - Thanks for another 'crazy' vote, keep 'em coming folks Umm, afraid you may have to wait for more of that paint stuff - certainly winning no prizes for speed-painting here And you'll definitely be waiting for the group shot, lol.
Jackanory - Thanking you. No need to apologise, that's part of the fun of Dakka, and I'm sure I'll be 'borrowing' some of your scavvy stuff at some point
And now to counter all the wordy stuff a handful of pics
First up the almost done 'kopta, minus a few cables and potentially the rokkit underneath. And yes, somehow some paint did manage to sneak on to the pilot.
A lone servo-grot, bit sloppy with the mono-wheel (other side) and just noticed I haven't filled the gun as I intended.
Couple of burna-boyz, need a bit of tidying and they're currently without cables. Track unit is another excellent piece from maximini (and I've just ordered their mono-wheels), not sure if he'll still have the helmet when painted (eventually), was thinking of a burnt helmet, which was originally a burnt and damaged auspex he'd picked up wondering if the meks would like it. May yet change again.. Other guy based on a stormboy the rokkit-pad rest makes an excellent fuel tank rest
They've also been joined by the painboy/mek with the sentinel foot and the tau-pad head, he's been demoted and given a burna made from half a chaos combi-flamer - no pics as he's just been primed black, and pics won't show any detail.
And lastly my current concept for a trukk
Obviously very rough at this stage. Was originally thinking of having one track from a leman and one from a chimera for a really asymetric look - these meks just don't care- but just couldn't get it to work. I'm thinking I may make one side with double-width tracks to keep with that idea.
Thanks for looking

Cool stuff, though you keep changing that weapon on your jetboy, I've noticed lol. Cool trukk looking in the progress, and, as always, loving your "no ork left unmech" standard. ANyway, keep at it and get to the choppa.
Snivelin' mekboy; hur hur hur.

Love the Koptaboy; thought he chainsword looks a bit thin on front. Is it just a decorative stabby bit, or will it be used for a buzzsaw? If it's the latter, I'd go for a heavier chainsword - or two . And if you're gonna keep changing bits, a modifying platform might make a nice objective counter!
The monogretchin looks cool, and those maxmini bits really spruce up the burnaboyz as well.
An rememba - CommissarKhaine favours da weedy grotz ova da propa boyz. Just sayin
Arakasi - True dat! Although they're not so weedy once they get in those exo-suits and armour.
Da weedy grotz took out an ork warboss and his retinue in the tournament I recently played - in close combat.

Looking as great as ever! Heh, and to think, I was gonna ask for a few patches on the eldar kopta, but you read my mind
I don't know why, but something that stands out to me are his arm stumps. They feel too... Clean Think you could add a few bolts on them? Like the ones you get on the back of the standard smooth faced ork choppa?
Love the burna boyz so far, all you need now is another 28 of them
Oh, and btw, thanks for explaining your rusting technique! Hopefully gonna try it on some nurgle iron warriors

Lord Kaesar - Thank you. That is the final KMB in place now, though it might get a bit more work yet It replaced the plasma based one because that just looked like an extended plasma gun, and that replaced the shoota because that was just a place-holder in my initial concept.....honest, it's not just because of my ADD. Which does mean that the trukk will change a fair bit before finishing Only thing that's set at the moment is that cab and the Leman tracks.
CommissarKhaine - I'm fairly sure there will be various mek related objectives in the future Want more units done before that though, and really should move on the objectives I'm putting up for the Objective Trade Tony-nids started up. Hmm, A modifying platform you say...
Well it was intended to be a bit buzzsaw-ish I did try a few others, but the only one that I thought worked well was the sentinel chainsaw mounted so the blades were on the sides rather than top and bottom ( that was badly explained) and I really wanted the blade to be on the underside for this one. It'll get a few spikes - probably from the DE sprues - on the top. Any way I thought it was more in keeping with your 'sleek and speedy' look Although I don't think I tried 2 of the imp chainswords side by side - I had 2 stuck back to back, but not 2 seperate ones, hmm maybee...
Yeah, I've been really impressed with the maximini bits I've got, excellent for further chopping too
Da weedy grotz took out an ork warboss and his retinue in the tournament I recently played - in close combat.
Hey, I only agreed they're weedy outside their armour, bet they were wearing it in the tourney
The Dark Lord Mr Fluffy - Shh, don't let the Inquisition hear I'm a psyker..err, excuse me a minutee...what? ....umm, No....No, no one hear by that name, no,... no, think there used to be guy over there like that though...yes, just around the corner..no problem..bye now
right, where were we..ahh yes, arm stumps.
You're right there, hadn't spotted that, thanks, I'll have to change those.
Another 28 you say...and then I expect you'd like some paint on them too hey? Think that might be a while, tbh the main reason for the burnas is to get more meks in Only reason I'm thinking of lootas too
Glad you liked the explanation, as I said I keep trying different things - been thinking about a few nurgle marines just to try them across an entire figure, or possibly just some unaligned guys, or probably some that could be either. Look forward to seeing how yours turn out.
Sageheart - Thanks, I'll try - there's definitely some weird in the next batch, that is if they actually become the next batch
And a quick pic, just so it's not all words and to show there has been a bit of the p-stuff going on. I started the DE deffkopta and the red areas just increased until it was obvious what was needed
A quick additional brace/wing set and he became 'Da Red Kount' - he never really got the hang of all those different humie boss-names. Was originally thinking the lower set would be that way up, rivets showing on the bottom, and angling the 'kopta on it's base so it's more visible, but now I'm thinking it might be better with the rivet detail on the upper face, and yes I probably should have thought it through first and added rivets to one side.

I know the feeling; I still need to army-specific objectives for my grots as well- they've been 'borrowing ' my IG objectives till now. As for a mek-objective: a box of meccanoes or legos would be fun

I get what you mean, I just feel it looks a bit thin; I used two kan saws side by side on my kopta, and I felt it added some oomph to it; We'll see how it works out I guess

Thanks guys, and here's your side shot - still very much in progress
Probably going to have the red go dark to light from front to back, using the current shade as the mid-tone, then put some flames on the gas tanks and the drone, possibly on the console too, thinking yellow flame with orange centre on the red, and red with yellow on the blue. Then a slight bit of weathering, but 'Da Red Kount' takes pride in his kustom paint-job Even if he does have to get it re-done every time it gets re-built
And a shot of the latest batch to suffer some paint
Think I'm going to leave the single chainsword on the vypa-kopta and probably do another version with two at the front and a few differing factors. Going to have to be careful painting the old-skoll mek as he's a pretty flat mould skin-wise, so I may attempt to paint the muscle tone on....or I might not But am trying to line his upper jaw, for some reason I didn't think of turning that nice smooth surface into metal...

Not a lot been going on, I've mainly been looking at the lovely 'Beauty In Decay' http://www.panoguide.com/store/uk/2-267664-0955912148-Beauty_in_Decay_Urbex_The_Art_of_Urban_Exploration.html Gorgeous.
Why can't translate my pencil and paper flames into paint and plastic ? Will tidy them up before pics, but for now I've decided against the flames on the gas-tanks. And I'm also wondering why I did the flames before highlighting the blue, as there'll probably be a blue wash at some point...
All other paint progress is so minimal as to not be worth showing yet, but started looking at the cyboars (minus heads) and a couple of bikes
On the dread-bike there'll be a grill/intake between the tyres, haven't decided yet wheter it'll be dakka or engine coming out the top. With the other bike not sure if it's getting marine fairings, or something else. Need to look at cyberfying some boar heads to see what's feasible there. The one with 2 wheels will be getting a rider based on a boar-boy, not sure about the other yet - it may get a boarb-oy or it may get one leaning back in the seat.
I'll try and get a bit more of that nasty p-stuff on the minis tomorrow, but as always don't hold your breath.

CK - thanks, if you're doing cyborks, cyboars are a must I feel. However I do ned to think a little bit slower, I hacked up the boars, thinking I would then sculpt (or attempt to) the gaps to show the body merging with the cyber-parts. Then after cutting realised I really wanted to build the cybernetics around and onto the body. Not a biggy, but may have meant slightly different cuts.
crimsonmic - nothing wrong with random The trike with the dread front was going to get a grot driver, but then I changed the design..Was thinking of having a buggy grewed by a couple of grots but you're right several servo-grots trying to control a bike would be pretty cool. Hmm, Ok, might be a while before the other trike re-surfaces
Yggdrasil - Is that a boar with 2 motorcycle whelels? That's a distinct posibility
PDH - Cyboar crashes: not a pretty sight. Oh Lord, there goes another wild train of thought ...scratches down notes about stumbling boars, riders being thrown, 'do bikes leave wreckage?', roborodeos and cyber-vets...
Monogrot is off, he only went into the dok's shed to deliver some fungus...
Sageheart - glad you're liking it. there were a couple of meganobz concepts a few posts back - think they're pretty much in a holding/gestating pattern for now.
And now for your delectation and delight, a few PIP shots as it was a nice day today and I wanted to try some outdoor shots (zooming in will show some messy painting so I'd advise against it )
LOT of tidying up to do ...

MeatShield - Thanks, but they've got a bit to go yet...
Scarper - Why thank you, but I certainly don't class my paint skills as awesome - slow.. Yes, awesome.. No The flames aren't even in the style I was aiming for, let alone the exact look However, I was reasonably pleased with the red on the kopta, and sometimes the green skin seems ok- sometimes it's just passable.
Sageheart - 'fraid you'll have to
Yggdrasil - Thanks, and that's pretty much what I thought , cheers.
Arakasi - Thank you, and liberal applicartion of blu- tac helped avoid any ork-overboard incidents - although I was a bit worried with the 'koptas.
And for your kind comments a quick peek at the progress on one of the original looted 'koptas..
Needs another chain/some welded plates holding down the big rokkit, a few more plates and some cabling.
Not sure of the pilot/gun configuration yet, was having a few issues with the pilot interface. I'm now thinking I may use the stromboyz grot console and have a grot pilot with grot gunners on one or either side behind the cockpit...

Wow this is just awesome man.. Very nice conversions and ideas.. Man I laughed my ass off when I saw those boar bikes.. They are perfect. But I have couple of suggestions for you.
First of all.. I think motored cybork bike centaur would be awesome and hilarious addition for that bike squadron. Simply some kind of orkish/looted bike with orks body attached to its handle bar.
And then.. How about cybork driving a segway? Maybe some kind of disabled ork with no proper legs or something?
Just some thoughts.

Arakasi - It was still s bit dodgy, there were a couple of 'am I sure this is a good idea' moments. It does get very windy along there - even on relatively calm days, and we don't get many of those here
I have every faith in your ability to make a suitably fantastic 'kopta, although when I saw your planned list I had a few 'shall I continue with that concept then, for mine won't match these' moments myself
Hadouken - Thanks. Just...Thanks.
Xenon - Thank you. Centaur-types are a possibility, both bike based and cyboar based Hmm, can the mono-wheels 'count as' segways? As for orks 'with no proper legs or something', don't most of mine fall into that category anyway? And always feel free to throw your thoughts out there, never no what may come of them
GG - Cheers man! I like the bionikopta, but still not sure about what it actually is yet Arakasi's right that it's really a little small for a 'kopta, but not sure I like it as a stormboy - probably just because I gave him 2 shootas (I count the extra ammo as making them big ). The initial thought I had for stormboyz - if I do them - was ork torsos on tau drones, but then decided a squad like that might look a bit out of place amongst the ramshackle lot that is the rest of the cyber-tribe. Hmm, Unless they were an elite mercenary squad of stormboyz who suffered an horrific yachting accident and joined up with the Upzag/Grimsnik troupe....
And in a blatant attempt to make it look like I have been doing more than just trawling through Dakka instead of searching for suitable servogrot gunners a couple of pics of not very much
Mek/big mek with KMB - head made me think more of a dok, but the clothes say mek so.. Old ogryn legs and Quasimodius torso.
Start of the attempt to orkify Upzag a bit, and a reminder that he was the last of the batch and I didn't scrub as thoroughly as I should have when stripping

OK not much done again - quel surprise eh? - so a couple of pics of some plastic just so I can kid myself that I have done something
Mek with KMB - he's leaning forward a fair bit wcich is why his head looks so damn big there - honest.
Checking out somw possibilities for squigs - quite like the track unit for the first one (probably not so much blu- tac on the finished version ) but may try two smaller track units on hydraulic pistons angled back - make it look like he's going fast and could then use him as attack squig for mek on a bike. As for the mek on a bike still undecided as to whether Upzag's track units will count as a bike as it cuts down options for the arms - which I'm still undecided about. Hmm, lots of undecided stuff about at the moment May end up with 2 big meks - Upzag and another one on a bike - Damn this was originally quite a smallish project, heh. Various squiggy-type bits - may use the old warhound head on a cyboar, may turn the warhound body into a cyboar for grots, or use the squig head as in the pic. Along the same lines been mulling over using some large cyber-squigs as rides along with the cyboars.
I've been trying to avoid it but I can't help but keep pulling out the parts for my DKOK centaur and staring at the tracks - eventually thought I'd just see what would fit them and came up with a tracked warbuggy. Now I'm liking it and just hope I'll be able to pick up some more tracks when I eventually get round to building the actual centaur model - plenty of time yet.
The other thing I've been staring a lot at recently (well, ONE of the other things I should say - empty space has been fairly popular recently ) is an old scalextric mini I was converting many, many moons ago. Yeah, I've just never been able to use any sort of toy/model without hacking at it in some way, converted various sections of track as well as cars back in the day . Don't have any real plans for it at all, but it sits on one of my bookcases in the workroom and it just seems to draw my eye since I started the cyborks. The current driver's head was based on an old wood elf model I believe, so scale's not too bad and there is something kinda shiny about an ork mini. Charlie Cr-orker anyone?
Thanks for looking, apologies if you were expecting some decent updates

It's OK Peter, I got the gist
We'll wait and see if the mini develops into anything orky, I'm still unsure, but it just seems to call my eyeballs to it - don't think it'll get senty legs tho Baba Yaga Mini.
Not a lot of work on my mini's due to rl work getting in the way but thought I'd stick up a quick splash of colour for those who insist that painting is part of this hobby
Getting there, few more details then a host of tidying up - did have several pics but didn't like 'em and deleted them
And just to give an idea of where I'm going with the colours here. One thing that's bugging me about this one is weathering. Are eldar vehicles all wraithbone? I'm thinking that I'll probably paint it up as though it was metallic underneath the colour, but maybe not. Had forgoten the pilot had orange straps when I started on the 'kopta body so I'll probably have to dirty him down a bit more.

Hadouken - Nearly had me there - until I looked deep into myself - that freaked me out a bit and woke me from your cunning spell Baba Yaga is a Russian witch who roamed around in a cottage with giant chicken legs
Arakasi - Don't I recall at least one unit of boyz from early in your blog? I only have 1 finished unit - the deff-dread. Plus 8 assorted grots, 1 tankbusta, 3 boys and a painboy. Can't even say the rest are all base coated as they nearly all have several areas of black primer showing Oh, and 1 completed servo-skull, although tbh that hasn't actually been varnished yet. I have this terrible habit of getting to around the 80% finished mark and then spying some shiny bit of plastic that needs turning into something else..

Ahh yes, I thought it rang a bell. There was the thing with the mirror and the comb and the other thing. And the girl. Named Sasha, IIRC. Also, my spells tend to break once someone realises they're looking inside themselves and starts wondering how their eyes managed to twist that far backwards. But they usually faint. The power is strong in this one.
30344
Post by: monkeytroll
That's the one - although I can't recall the girl's name, and that would probably change depending on which version, which translation etc. etc.
So a little bit of work done, not much as I was kinda flitting between the workroom and browsing through Dakka. I've discovered Dakka is just as good at causing procrastination as inspiration, actually probably better Although if anyone asks I'll maintain that it was just too cold in the workroom to stay there - winter comes early when you live on the water as you have a huge heat sink a foot or so below your feet .
Just need to finalise weapons really - rather than magnetise this one I've gone for plastic tubing attached to the body and smaller tubing attached to weapons. What I'm still ruminating on is whether to have a single grot working a console behind the pilot or as an actual gunner - or even two gunners.
And then there's the eternal question of the buzzsaw..
I like the idea of mounting it on the side but not sure if that makes the kopta a little long and unwieldy, although obviously unwieldy isn't always a bad thing with orks Will almost definitely be going for a horizontal blade if it's arm mounted as the vertical just didn't look good at all. Looks a bit neater (I know, I know, not quite the right word to use around orky-tek) on the sentinel's blade mount but that leaves the issue of what to do with the side mount then - unless I go for one servo-grot gunner and the other weapon mounted on the side? Hmm, might have to mock up that version too. Quite like the 2 blades mounted underneath but they seem a little small for this particular body. Also contemplating a windshield or similar in front of the pilot.
And a quick concept shot for a small 'kopta, possibly a bionikopta
No worries about where the buzz-saw goes on this one Used to be the ride for one of my dark eldar - haemonculus I think, haven't looked at the codex for so long I can't recall who it was or what the ride was called now.
12212
Post by: Lord Kaesar II
Buzzsaw 1 or 2 I like best, as it just kinda... works. Sides, less figurin out for the mekboy how to halfway reasonably connect power point A to power weapon B. Now, I'll be first to admit orks have quite the tendency to go around their elbows to get to their heads (not sure if that's the right wording of that analogy), but that doesn't always have to override simplicity unless you decide it's just good time to have the buzzsaw swinging randomly from the port, hanging on only by some wires (not a bad idea, actually)
18980
Post by: Arakasi
Loving it! I prefer the first buzzsaw too, and agree the one with two small buzzsaws looks a bit weedy. If you prefer this though - just make the saws bigger (encase them a little in the front if they look too big - probably look better that way too...) Does this mean I need to strike Landspeeder style Deffkopta off my list?
32193
Post by: PDH
Hey,
I think two grots. One for each gun. As for the buzz saw....the first one. The idea is just so preposterous that an Ork mech would love it and come up with it.
They are looking good with paint on too. I like the vyper body colours as they are. I've always thought that wraithbone would be the same colour all the way through (you just sing to it in a certain way and it grows orange for example). So maybe some dirt on top but not chipped with metal underneath. Maybe some oily streaks on top or where the eldar tech meets the ork tech? Have you used Vallejo - Model Colour - Smoke? It is great for the oily look.
Cheers

Post by: The Good Green
I'm gonna cast my vote for two gunners. The more grots the merrier, I say.
I think if you turned the first buzzsaw blade sideways... vertical at any rate, it would look more appropriate for digging into tanks. I like the round saw horizontal, too though. Still a tough call, I'd say.
The Bionikopta is cool. No question about the buzzsaw there.

Post by: HadoukenAvenger
I think the top two buzzsaws ruin the orky zen sorta thing you have going. Orks are meant to be ridiculous, but ork models still needs to be somewhat symmetrical and have a balance and even distribution of pieces. I think that either of the top two would ruin the model. That said, the third option is still a bit weedy, albeit better placed. So. Maybe if you beefed up the Lego chainsaws a bit, or changed them altogether other than placement. Also, I think you should do something wild with the grot. Could he not contol both guns? Through some bionic attatchment? Now I have this Image in my head of a grot in one of the battlewagon/tank/vehicle 'hatch thingoes' with a machine gun barrel sticking out of his mouth and an ammunition feed going fom his neck to his shoulders and out through his hands into slots in the Kopta. Maybe the guns could be automated and you could have the grot sitting on that oil barrel with a (I want to say auspex but I know that's not right.). Or whatever.

Lord Kaesar - I like the idea of a buzzsaw just hanging from some wires, probably not on this one but idea is stored away - thanks. Actually that's just reminded me of a time when I was back with my folks and heard a chainsaw going out the back somewhere early on a Sunday morning - obviously not the best time to hear that - and when I eventually looked out my window to see what was going on there was a chainsaw hanging in a tree a few gardens down. Just a bit of rope tied to a branch and the 'saw, the guy was down below doing something else with the 'saw just buzzing away. Hmm, pointless story, sorry.
Arakasi - Thanking you! The 2 buzzsaws is off the list. And no, I still expect to see a landspeeder 'kopta from you sometime (after the swap stuff and the twins for yourself obviously ). How could 'da Dark Angelz' not have a Deffwing Deffkopta looted from the humie Deathwing after all?
PDH - Keep meaning to try some of the Vallejo paints, but never seem to get round to it. I generally use a mix of inks and Johnson's Klear varnish for oil-type effects, but need to expand my repertoire a bit. Thought it was going to be wraithbone - think what I might try is just lighter colours where the wraithbone's been damaged, then a bit of oil and stuff. Think you may have a wait for some more of the p-stuff though, kind of feeling a few modelling ideas coming through at the moment - and they're probably going to be slow coming, hectic few weeks at work coming up.
Rose - vote noted
GG - ditto Yeah I thought that one would look OK vertical, but something was a bit off when I tried it - going to model the actual connection so it looks like it rotates and probably put the saw just off of horizontal.
Stump - Thanks, and welcome to the surjary If youse takes a numba da dok will sees ya soona dan ya finks...Hurr,hurr.
Hadouken - 'GrotSnot, da anasfetik pleeze, we'll show him whos ridikulus' Wow, didn't realise I had an orky-zen thing going, thanks man. I feel there should be a certain sense of asymmetry going on with Orks, but yeah, I hear what you're saying. One of the choices was to have the grot controlling both from a central console type thing, hadn't thought about perching him on the barrel though, although spookily enough I did 'sketch' one out at work today doing just that for the multi-grot bike idea initiated by crimsonmicc! And 'da ammo-feeda' servo grot has also been filed away in da dok's planning place.
Thanks for the feedback guys, the 'final' (who am I kidding ) decision is a bit of a mix - always good for Orkses says I. Think it's going to be the second buzzsaw, with the balance helped out a bit by removing the gun mount on that side (luckily enough that one is only blu-tacked in place not glued like the other side) and having the left hand mount carry a twin-linked weapon. This also means if I want a KMB on ther I dont have an empty mount. The servo grot is going to be at a central console type thing behind the cockpit with a bio-mekanikal link to the weapon mount. Or at least that's the plan today And can anyone tell me why I keep making swappable models when I don't even play anymore
OK, update time, short but hopefully sweet - the cyboars: (riders are dummies to show placement and overall composition)
Had to change the gun-mount idea here as I came up with a cunning plan for the transition between boar and engine, and once it was in place and I was happy with it realised I couldn't go with my original idea. However I like this better anyway so all good there Still needs ammo-drums attached and bit of tidying up on the swivel point and a bit of work around the head and the join 'twixt cy- and -boar.
Took a while to find the right bits for the weapon mounts here, but very pleased with what I ended up with - the guns swivel at the moment but I have plans for ammo-feeds ( figured i'd better put them in after you put them in your Scorpion class 'kopta Arakasi ). They're not in place as I'll probably do the P-thing first and they're a bit fiddly to hold in position with blu- tac - a bit fiddly testing the fit to be fair Although I only tested one, can't find the bit I want for the other at the moment..
Kept getting distracted by more cy-boar and bike thoughts as I was working on these, so a few more soon possibly, need to get some of the older boar kits for some I think. Also need to get a load more snotlings/grots/goblins as I can't get some of the poses I want for the bike idea without a lot of sculpting using the ones I have, and my GS-fu really isn't up to decent anatomy yet.
As always, thanks for looking.

See what I mean about orky zen? You sub-consciously (or maybe purposefully) attached the top gun up so it was lined up straight down the centre, and the side-guns are both similar in silhoutte, are an even distance from the boar and with similar swivel-joints. The hinds of the boars are near-symmetrical also. And yet you have maintained the perfect orky look and the pure, primal awesomeness which radiates from these boars is ridiculous. I think I foresee a trade of some sort in the future.....

Because it would be a Rav'nwing Deffkopta looted from the humie Ravenwing after all Sadly, someone suggested a Warboss Biker/Landpseeder a la Sammael conversion which may just have to override the Deffkopta idea... (who am I kidding? In addition too...)

Yes you better!
Looking good! I have the new boar boyz myself, though no plans for "warbikers" from them... I'm also waiting on a FW order of Grot assistants myself to add to my grot bodies for conversion purposes... But still - the only way to improve your GS-fu is practice practice practice! Keep up the good work.

Spiders. Why? They just have too many legs for one creature.
Bit of a non-sequitur I realise but just had the bejusus scared out of me as one seemed to just materialise on my keyboard whilst i was typing. Some damn chaos manifestation I'm sure of it.
Hadouken - Ohh definitely on purpose in this case As we're dealing with creatures here there's a limit to how lobsided things can get, with the purely mechanical creations there's more room for manoeuvre. Although it is asymmetry I'm after not imbalance, and there are some definite asymmetrical plans in the file As for 'the pure, primal awesomeness which radiates from these boars' all I can say is wow, thank you, that's far higher praise than I was expecting man. And moving on to the trade, I'm guessing that's not the very near future you're forseeing... I'll be up for it but my speed and the fact that as I type I can see 5 unfinished, no, make that 6 unfinished objectives and I know there's at least one more on my work table, well don't expect anything in a hurry But, yeah tradings cool, I know Arakasi will agree and I really enjoyed doing the 'rheen for porkuslimes Deathwatch, working for someone else helps you up your game a bit. I hereby encourage all reading this to go cast there eyes on such threads as these:

Sageheart - Thanks man!
GG - Thanks, sorry for making you want to spend money, peeps keep doing it to me though
Tortured-Robot - Thank you. Well it's possible they were injured boars that Upzag and Grimsnik decided to help out.
Possible, but not very likely
Arakasi - D'oh. Blame a bad wiring job on the new rekognishun cirkits the Dok just installed. I'm pretty sure there'll be plenty of GS practice in this project, but I'm also aware that if I start by trying to create some of the stuff on the grots I'll end up with arms that look like twigs. I could try to use bioniks for everything I want to change but want a bit of flesh in there. Hmm, actually hadn't really thought through some of the comedical aspects of using bioniks for some of the stuff...Heehee, oh sorry..Hurr hurr.
CK - Thank you. Possibly reins on the one with side-dakka, that depends on what i decide to do with the driver. there will be reins and handlebars on future editions - had considered handlebars in place of ears, but actually coming out of the ears - love it, that will be coming, thanks

Chopping away at some more boars at the moment, not really worth showing any progress just yet though. Been messing with a krootox body for another bike too, figure there may be a few squig-bikes as well as the cyboars. Although a boars head looks ok with the krootox body so may just be another boar that the dok got his klaws on a while before it got cyberised. As I have nothing much to show thought I might throw up a few of my doodles - not pretty as they get done over lunch on those occasions when I have nothing to read with me, really just concepts I might forget as I can't put any plastic together at work
And I've not blanked out the numbers as we moved premises to another county beginning of the year and these are old pads

Hadouken - The prop-handed ork became the first bionikopta, although that's not to say he won't get used again, Upzag and Grimsnik do love to re-cycle, it's very green after all (sorry, couldn't resist that one )
The grots are my take on bomb-squigs for the tankbusta's - well, probably, unless I come up with some squiggy ideas
Lighting Frog - Thank you. The fact is those who do say anything about Cyborks tend to wake up in 'da surjary' with a host of different body parts to those they had earlier
So, a few more cyboars have been spotted roaming around behind 'da surjary' - lots of fun was had with cutting fingers, supergluing fingers (managed to do each hand once), supergluing plasters to fingers, etc
Old lead boar who has been floating around the dok's place for a while waiting for a set of wheels to replace the back legs he lost in a horrific clipper accident Decided he only needed one wheel so underwent a radical rear-ectomy using clippers - really must replace my razor-saw sometime. Like all the current batch weapon mounts will be decided after some riders have had what little common sense they had knocked out of them by the dok, although this boars still a bit dopey after his anesfetik and is plodding along quite sedately
This one however is a bit more awake, and probably a bit peeved that no decent front feet have been found for him yet. Also needs claws put back into place on one rear foot, a bit of gs to tidy up the joints, and the head's only tacked in place for now, haven't made a final decision on how that's going to turn out - may wait till a volunteer to ride him's been found, as that may determine whether he gets handlebars/reins/some other control system.
This guy was one where a bit of planning would have been an idea First thing done was front wheel. After that I realised I hadn't fully test fitted and putting the head in meant the upper jaw was brushing the wheel. Swapped the head for one from the older boars with a bit of chopping arond the neck area - lot of GS work to be done around there. Then noticed I hadn't put the suspension in. Had a couple of attempts at wrapping it with everrything in situ - fairly obviously that didn't work so had to remove the wheel and put the wire in place. Putting the wheel back I noticed the suspension pushed the forks out a bit from the wheel, so had to add another section to the hubs. Good times Back wheel went through a couple of phases - was going to be a track-unit, but decided the plasticard track I built was a bit small for this guy. Was a trike for a few hours (onlt tacked in place while I did some other stuff) then decided it would be the bike-boar and was about to chop up the rear end to fit a medium orky wheel there when I spotted a marine bike and chopped that instead. Had a few attempts at the plating around the jet before this version, although I'm now thinking I should really have waited till I knew what the weapon mount will be...
And finally for now this fairly placid fella will get one of the bike dakka mounts, but will probably get a head from the new boars - or most of a head anyway
Thanks for looking
edit: And I know I should be out doing something other than playing NeverWinterNights and messing with toy soldiers on a Saturday night, but as I have a sore throat I'm staying in drinking hot lemon and honey and eating Green & Black's ice cream

Anyway, a shower and some doughnuts and I'll maybe do a bit of stuff and get some shots up - there's already a bit of paint on the first two cyboars, not convinced I'm actually able to paint any more until I've slept but I'll probably give it a go anyway - or I may just catch up on what I've missed on dakka the last few days - that's if my connection stays up long enough...

And a quick teaser :
Going to see how much I can get done on these today, although I'm feeling a bit of love towards the dread trike, and due to my mp3 player seeming to go for a Sisters of Mercy vibe earlier I'm looking at a couple of old-skool chaos mini's and possibly making a start on my long-delayed hell legion (not in a way that'll get in the way of the orksy stuff though obviously ) Automatically Appended Next Post: OK, well not an awful lot got done today, as I've now been up for about 41 hours that shouldn't really have suprised me kept realising I was painting with eyes shut, probably not the best technique
Started a couple of Hell Legion peeps, stuck a couple of bits of plastic together (pretty much literally a couple) and a tiny amount of paint on above pieces. It may well be hard to spot a difference though, but I did say I'd put 'em up...
And come tomorrow I'll probably realise what a fudge I've made and re-do it anyway

Thanks guys.
Only problem with that double chain blade is I'm fairly sure I only have one of those old blades left now, so I can't make one for my guys
Dread-trike grew from an idea I had for a trike using the intakes from the Tau Pirhana in a similar configuration. Just happened to have that image somewhere near the front of my oh-so-cluttered mind when I picked up the dread body and voila...
And Arakasi strikes again, this time just with the use of the word wacky Dik Dastardork and Muttsquig - I can see it now. Nab him, grab him, snatch him, catch him, stop that Squigeon now!! Maybe a whole fleet of wacky races themed vehicles.. Oooooh, that actually works for one of my other Pirhana ideas i wasn't sure would fit in, Oh man A whole new world is opening up in that mind.
Just for future reference:
Dick Dastardly and Muttley in the Mean Machine 00 (The double 'O'/ The Double Zero)
Dik Dastardork and Muttsquig
The Slag Brothers in the Bouldermobile 1
The Squig brothers - snakebite clan
The Gruesome Twosome in the Creepy Coupe 2
Dok's 'patients'
Professor Pat Pending in the Convert-a-Car 3
So many orky ideas
Red Max in the Crimson Haybailer 4
The Red Count?
Penelope Pitstop in the Compact Pussycat 5
Hmm, a use for that old ork cheerleader after all?
Sergeant Blast and Private Meekley in the Army Surplus Special 6
Grot tank?
The Ant Hill Mob in the Bulletproof Bomb 7
The grot hill mob
Lazy Luke and Blubber Bear in the Arkansas Chuggabug 8
Snotling pump wagon?
Peter Perfect in the Turbo Terrific 9
the afore-mentioned Pirhana buggy
Rufus Ruffcut and Sawtooth in the Buzzwagon 10
I have several kan/bike/cybork ideas utilising buzzsaws as wheels - can stretch those to this

Not really the same as Peter Perfect's Turbo Terrific, but with the right colour scheme and a number I'm thinking it'll pass. I'm thinking that I should be going for the general feel rather than a close fit in most cases.

lol. I did say that was the original idea I had, showing where I would go with that concept as opposed to a copy of the actual vehicles
And when have any of my initial concepts ended up with no modifications on the way
Although that particular one probably won't get as orkified as you'd like, the Turbo Terrific does have cleaner lines than most of the others This is more a homage to the cartoons than a real army.
I did play briefly with using various races to portray the different racers, but think it'll be funnier to use all orks.

True - I guess I jumped in too fast - the idea just resonated with me (why?) so I got a bit emotionally involved
Ummm... never?!?
I did think a few would be hard to do justice - especially as Orks - but the Turbo Terrific wasn't one of them...
Still - no time to act on my ideas myself, so I'll just have to live precariously through you! I know you are up to the task

Well, the race-car stylings of the pirahna was what hit me when I started getting the bits out of the box, but I was never really happy with it as fitting with the rest of the cyborks, and it was only when Da Worky Races (still playing with the name there) burst onto the scene that I felt I had a home for it. If I suddenly hit upoun something closer to the TT I may throw it back into the ideas box, but I'm thinking that it'll probably be the first one to get built as there's a physical concept for it already, as opposed to the mental concepts (hmm, apt choice of words there I feel ) I have for the otheres. Obviously Dik Dastardork and Grottley are of major interest (i've started a bit of messing with Dik's head, not sure what the best way to do the 'tache is) but will probably leave those for a bit in order to do them justice.
Thanks for your faith in me, but I'm guessing it's going to be a long haul I really do need to get some actual units finished with the cyborks so I feel I'm making progress, so there'll be a lot of to-ing and fro-ing for a bit - well, guess that's not news to anyone

So I think I got it now
6: Da 'Umie Surplus Speshul - Looted Leman Russ
3: Da Prof - Looted valk, or a deffkopta, have a good idea for the deffkopta but don't think I can resist a pink and white valk/boat weld.
4: Red Mork - Deffkopta (da Red Kount could stand in, but think'll it'll be another)
7: Da Grot Hill Mob - Trukk ('driven' by grots)
2: Da Kreepy Two - Skorcha with a dragon-squig, although it's style would better suit a trukk I want to use the dragon
1: Da Squig Bruvvers and 10: Da Buzz-Toof - run as killa-kans
5: Penny Pitfighta(Kompakt Pussy-squig), 8: Lazee L & Scaredy Squig(Armageddon Judda-Bug), 9: Peter Perfork(Turbo 'Triffik) and 0: Dik Dastardork and Grottley(Da Mean Mashin') - Warbuggies
Klones of Dik & Grottley will appear in Da Vultur Squad of deffkoptas, along with Zillee and Klunk, and I guess there'd better be an objective marker of Yanka Dooda Squigeon
Pretty ambitious and it's going to be slow progress

seeing as thats 10 vehicles with individual character and a squad of copters then we shouldl forgive any slowness.
If only they paid us for this kinda thing - I'm sure it would come together quicker

I'd share the task if I thought it would actually make it move along any faster (hint - it wouldn't, because I'm slower! - and if monkeytroll wanted my assistance of course!)

weety - nah, if they paid us it would turn into a job and thus boring
Arakasi - don't worry, I'm sure your advice will be valuable - not least for keeping me on track You'll be glad to hear the Turbo 'Triffik has evolved somewhat - more a valk jet engine with wheels now.
BT should be out to look at my connection over the weekend, so hopefully some pics then.

Jeez, leave a thread untended for a few days and when you come back it's filled with wino's (Lights large herbal cigarette to cover alcohol fumes).
Well, nice Mr BT man came on Saturday, couldn't find my boat and went off again, so I'll try again on Wednesday, which may mean I get a day of modelling in, bonus.
You may be surprised to learn, that whilst I've had trouble accessing t'internet I actually have done fairly little P&M work, lots of cooking and eating and stuff instead
I may try uploading some stuff from work if connections not sorted in a couple of days.

cooking and eating? might be related to all those herbal cigarettes. I look forward to seeing more cut and shut work with your orks.
(takes massive hit from bong).

This is really painful, taken about 5 attempts to start a reply, feth knows how many times it'll drop out whilst I try to move a couple of pics across
So, couple of updates on 2 of the GMS orks (flash photo's I'm afraid)
Sage need bit of work on the tracks, the weapon and some wirinig and the base. schank needs tidying on the tubing and the rokkits.
Tiny bits of paint applied here and there, Da Red Kount just needs some wiring and I think that's it. 'Speeder kopta has pretty much all but the cockpit itself blocked and highlighted and undergoing weathering. Need to paint up a console for the weapon-grot and actually produce some more weapons other than the buzz-saw, which can be mounted in 2 places now.
And rough concepts for Da Turbo 'Triffik and the convert-a-car
Turbo Triffik pretty basic idea there. It has had the last part chopped off and I'm working on a cockpit area to go there, and an area for the exhausts and extra intake to go. There'll be a few plates over the front section, leaving areas of the jet exposed. Thinking about those plates led me to thinking of making some really crumpled sheets of metal panelling, not neccessarily for this model, using bent sheets of wire mesh as a base and gluing lots of small bits of plastic over it, far more time consuming than using heavy cardboard and pva glue , but I might look into it, bare mesh could be left near edges , think it might look pretty interesting.
konvert-a-kar might have to try quite hard to see my vision behind that plastic and blu- tac Thinking the 'keel' of the boat could be formed extending along the line of the valk nose possibly.
Think of these as 'rough sketches', except I've sketched in blu- tac and plastic So there's a lot of room for changes, and I feel feedback is going to be a big part of this project. I'm still unsure about where the balance between Orky and Wacky Races actually is for some ideas, and how much to change is going to vary a bit I think. And when I have a better connection I'll start a new blog for these guys I think - try to keep 'em out of the Dok's way

That painting on the orks is great! I love that primary colours bright patchwork of paintjobs look for the orks its very appealing.
The rocket engine with wheels look is just perfect for woorky races. It should have more framework around it maybe?

Thanks, I'm coming round to the bright colours myself now. I normally prefer either a darker or more natural pallette, and the earlier cyborks tend that way, but I'm going to be adding a bit more paint to their kit now, it does seem to suit them.

A turbo engine on wheels. these cyborks are real speed freaks! how about adding a parachute to the back like dragsters, for stopping power.

Finally caught up with this thread! Rockety, orky awesomeness and Irish ramblings to boot: great stuff! On the Wacky Races thought, one of the clubs at Conflict this year ran Catch the Squidgeon using Aeronautica Rules and Ork choppas - they've got some good stuff, can't remember which club it was but ask around maybe?

Ah, was wondering if anyone had put the 2 together before, most things seem to have made it into the Land of Ork at some point May have to try and find something about that, cheers.
And in case you haven't spotted it in my sig, a completely shamelss plug for Da Worky Races thread which I've started to keep this one on track (well, as on track as it gets in the normal course of things).

Man, if you liked that, you should check out the 'Monster' or 'What it is' tours. Actually, the latter is up on youtube in a 10-part series.

I've got 'Monster' on dvd, more awesomenes, wasn't aware of 'What It Is'. I'll have to check that out, cheers
So, a bit of that painting stuff to prove it doesn't stay grey forever:
'Finished' deffkopta -
Ended up with 3 coats of varnish as the first matt spray didn't get very good coverage, so dulled the colour down a tad, lighting is a bit dodgy in these pics too. Will probably re-touch the dash at some point and may put a gloss finish back on the red, looked faster when it was shiny Now need to decide how to base it....
Oh, and a shot with rokkits in place
Bit more done to the speeder kopta -
Put together first of the cyboar cyborks
Some basic colours laid down on the rider, still a way to go with the boar.
And Bad Dok Grimsnik has gone under the brush too -
And for the GMS -
Both suffered from having 3 coats too, and have been dulled a fair bit, part of the track unit on sage's became fogged, I've just re-done it gloss in an attempt to cure it, if not I'll re-paint the track unit. Apart from that..done.
Right that should be enough paint, I'll get back to the messing about with bits of plastic

Thanks guys, but don't forget that some of that paint has been seen before, it wasn't all just done
wyrd boy, here's your leg shots
They're from the i-kore range, but not a clue which model I'm afraid. Can't even take a guess as I can't find anything that resembles a torso for it.
As I'm here might as well throw these up too.
WIP on the speeder kopta's gunnery-grot
I know about the mould line I'm being lazy there and hoping the positioning is going to hide that, I really hate cleaning up hoses like that. I would normally swap the plastic one for guitar wire, but as i had a hose that was just the right size...
And spider-grot had an accident during sealing
He tried to save himself by grabbing that hair, but it wasn't enough.

When I do a maddening conversion and look at it unpainted I always second guess myself, as good as a lot of conversions are, unpainted they're often multi coloured or patchy and seem incomplete... but the moment the paint hits them they come to life!
These Cybor Orks really come to life once the paint touches down they look incredible mate top notch job! really top notch!

No probs
Now need to decide how to base it....
May I put forward some suggestions?
I did these when I was starting out:

[/self promotion]
Something like the third one, although paint it more consciously, I let the paint on too thick and dried it too quickly.

Tactical Androsynth, by the looks of it. Look in Syntha section of urbanmammoth website. Syntha=good bits for mekorks, esp on the cheap from ebuy.

The old painting things in stages over a period of months trick aye? well the important thing is they are finished-ish and look brilliant. You have seriously single-handedly made me like 40k orks again. well that and re-reading the RT ork codex

loving the look of these models! great work! ill have your ork done soon! hopefully get some paint on it tonight!

Post by: monkeytroll
Santobell - Thanks man! Yeah, I know what you're saying, with some of them I take a good look once they've been primed to see if anything stands out, with some I have a strong enough image from the start, and with some it's not till the paint is bringing everything together that it works. Plus there's the fact that as there's normally a good gap between a model being finished and primer being applied, there's plenty of chances for things to be re-worked
Hadouken - self promotion's all good here
Of course, that comes with the natural assumption that there are updates along the line
Thanks for the pics, but tbh I haven't really decided on flying base, brass wire or attached to part of a building etc. yet. That's my first decision
graven - Ahh yes, that's the one with the horizontal body that I keep meaning to turn into a servitor. And was one of his arms a plasma gun looking affair?
weety - ahh, the old ones are the best after all. If I could really claim the satisfaction of turning you 'green' that would be ample reward, but I'm betting that old codex had something to do with it I'm guessing that's got some pretty cool stuff in it? Some of the old ork art is fantastic, lots more character than just screaming and waving choppas.
errr...Not dat dere's anyfink wrong wiv wavin' choppas an' skreeming a lot, dat's reel 'portant too.
Sage - Thanks dude! No rush, it gets done when you get it done, I need to re-paint the tracks on yours now anyway.

Yes waving a big choppa around and screaming is very important and should be done as often as possible. I had a guy I know do my garden (jungle patch) and take the creepers off the walls back when I had one and he basically just went at it with a machette and lots of energy. fun to watch.
I think the old orks seemed to be having more fun though. They always seemed to have smiles on there faces while they were doing whatever nasty things orks like to do. but thats all a matter of opinion. If you like your orks smiley and basically mystified that the whole universe hates them (dunnoz whyz theyz dunna likes us weeze juz wana fun scrap) then the old school can help. But your orks - whatever parts they are made of, have the happy-go-lucky in spades (hope this makes sense, its homebrewed blackberry wine-O-clock)
