Pretty cool I guess. Dont see too many large japanese swords

Hey Paulson, they look nice, but it would be really, really helpful to have a 28mm mini next to them for scale -

Well if those measurements are the length that means the smallest is as long as a 25mm round base. But yes a scale photo would be nice

Hope this helps a bit...the power sword on the AoBR SM Captain is 37mm, the new Grey Knights term power swords are 45mm, a CSM chainsword is 31mm, and a DA power sword is 35mm. So basically the No-Dachi and Katana would work well for SM and CSM swords. The wakazashi would make a big knife or machette, the ogre-dachi would be daemon prince sized. Any of them may be a bit too large or "beefy" for IG, DE, etc.

However, some measurements on the axes and hammer would be good.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
One thing to check out on the paulson website...tower shields. A few of those, some FW MK III iron armor, a few bits from ebay and you could build a squad of "boarding marines" for about what a single one of the limited edition goes for on ebay.

I really like that spear, and the double bitted ax brings back fond He-Man memories. Thanks for that! I might have to hit your store up late for some of those spears.

I have the various part sizes listed on my site, but a visual compairision is always better so here they are on a 32mm scaled mini. (mentally apply your favorite brand of plastic manz)

Those are the enclosed-body railguns from a while ago, right? Have to say, they look excellent. Much more tau-ish than the GW open-body ones.

I think I liked the old boneswords better.

Are you considering dropping the old bio-sword design you also have on your site currently? Or are you just planning on having both available?

I've bought some of the old kind (and like them) and if you were stopping production I might just buy some extras for the future (just in case).

Why make useful add-ons in 32mm when the vast majority of figures are 25-32mm? Missing a large pool of buyers.

Huge fan of the new bio-sword design, it actually looks like something that would be grown, rather than the old swords that looked like normal swords with an organic hilt.

Love the new sword design. Perfect for the Hive Tyrant and Tyranid Alpha IMO (especially) to show their leader status.

The older bio-swords might get dropped but I'd like to have them available as long as possible. If you need some for rounding out projects I'd suggest getting them now rather than later. (They are also at a reduced price currently)

The guns are a revised version of the original rail guns, much cleaner detail now. I also made the wolf bases available seperately along with adding some battletech styled hex bases.

I've additionally added a blog to the site so people are welcome to leave commenst or questions there as well.

Moopy wrote:Why make useful add-ons in 32mm when the vast majority of figures are 25-32mm? Missing a large pool of buyers.

The largest market for mini parts is for figures in the 28-32mm range, particuarly for oversized and bulky weapons commonly found in "heroic scale". 25mm figures are usually much more slender using more realistic proportions the downside of that is the weapons are considerably smaller and more difficult to cast. Details are a lot finer and the sculpting end is harder hence why certain companies prefer "heroic scale" stuff.

If you place a space marine or a warmachine infantry model next to a true 25mm scale mini you'll see just how massive they are and 25mm scale weapons won't work very well on 28mm heroic figures.

I just got sets of the old blades and new ones, as well as the lash whips. These are all top notch, I like all of them but the new style is better in my opinion. I will post a review and pics once i get through my current projects. But if you are on the fence on purchasing these, go ahead and do it. The models are very nice and well cast and the company has been super easy to work with.

Old style swords are about to be discontinued, the molds are wearing out and there are no plans to replace them. I have a small stock of them left and will keep them available through Nov 7th, after that I will likely be out of stock for good.

Giving you guys notice so that if you have any left over projects to take care of you can get them before they are gone.

Curious if the katana or wakazashi's are to big for Forgeworld Elysians / IG type models?

Noooooooooooo!

So I'm assuming you're discontinuing both the big and small versions of the sword?

And what about the bio-tendril? Is that still all good?

I hate buying for things I may or may not ever do, but its better than being stuck without enough I suppose!

Paulson Games - October Sale @ 2011/09/29 04:30:08

Post by: paulson games

Both the large and small swords are going (the old sculpts)

The Bio-Tendril will remain in production but will have a couple modifications to it. The upside is I can probably drop the price a bit once it's resculpted.

I'd prefer to keep them continually in production, but sadly I can't.

Paulson Games - October Sale @ 2011/09/29 07:23:27

Post by: -Loki-

I like the new bio swords more than even the GW bonesword on their Tyrant, so I don't mind

Any plans on doing a smaller bio-tendril? It's a good size for Tyrants, but it's really big on Warriors.

I have some of the bio-tendrils, once heated up and bent they seem to be great on warriors. Just my opinion

I hit a bunch of roadblocks getting these into production but they are finally ready and listed up for purchase on the site.

I know this is a bit odd for adding to my annoucnements but there's another start up company I'd really like to help promote: Proxie Models.

I've always been in need for a lot of 60mm dreadnought sized bases. They are usually pricey as all hell on ebay and from bits sellers which is why I was excited when I saw these. A pack of 8 bases is $4.00 so that's just 50 cents a piece. It's a really good deal and Ken is a great guy who can really use the business, so I wanted to give him some props. http://proxiemodels.com/basesonly.aspx

Just a final heads up, this is the last week to get some of the models in their current forms.

A number of items are going to be removed from inventory next week and won't be back. Some items are having changes made to their sculpts.

These are going away:
Bio-Swords (large and regular) I have about 20 sets of these left in stock and those are the last ones period.

These are being changed, they will be offsite for a bit and when I relist them they will have revised sculpts. (the original sculpts will no longer be available)
Bio-Tendril
Bio-Terror
Riding Wolves

I highly suggest getting any orders in ASAP.

I'll wait on my order and see what your new bio-tendrils look like. Yours are the best on the market, but I'm still not entirely sold on them. If the new ones are in the same style as the new chitin blades, I should be a happy camper.

Recently received an order of round shields and I must say I am very impressed with them.

The casts are good, very little flash, the shipping time from the US to the UK was only 12 days, and the quality of the resin is brilliant. Much harder than, say, FW or FC resin, perhaps more brittle but it doesn't matter for the shields are just the right thickness.

I am a very pleased customer.

Thanks for plugging Proxie models, I just ordered some of those dreadnought bases

Love your stuff, wish some of it was applicable to my armies, though! Right now I could really use some good sci fi weapons to substitute for the standard bolt pistol and close combat weapon.

Here is my review of the Chitin blades and Bio-tendrils (lash whips).

http://warfrog.blogspot.com/2011/10/buyer-reviews-paulson-games-alien-parts.html

If you are on the fence about the whips buy some of these they are great. I purchased some of the swords as well but I like the Chitin blades better, however I would say the entire alien lineup is fantastic.

I can't wait to see the next generation of Bio Tendrils, probably means I will need a set or two as well.

My only concern with those Dreadnought bases is the size of the connector to the sprue in the centre - any chance of reporting back on how cleanly that separates when your order comes through, RiTides?

I posted pics up in the Proxie thread.

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/404892.page

I'm quite happy with the ones I'd gotten, cost is good, material is nice and solid, removing it from the sprue is no sweat at all.

I bought a large bulk of them that I'm going to start including these with my riding wolf models instead of the resin bases as it saves me tons of time not having to cast resin bases. (The resin bases will be made available seperately) I will also be including them with the Bio-Terror models from here out.

Hey Guys,

I've been doing some sorting to clear out some of my gaming stuff and I've decided I'm never going to get around to finishing my army and I'm going to sell it off. I've put a very limited amount of swords on my site as they were from my personal collection. Between the two sizes I have less than 2 dozen sets. They aren't in production anymore and these are the last few copies i have. If you want them; move quickly.

The Bio-Tendrils and Riding Wolves will be available again in Feb.

The Bio-Terror models will be available again in Feb.

Those models are all recieving minor changes and will be reslisted as quickly as possible.

More mech weapons will also be added in Jan.

As my work log seems to have vanished I wanted to see what type of feedback I might be able to get about the chitin blades.

Any particular dislikes about the chitin blade design?
Already have swords & no need?
Problems with the size or look?

Don't be afraid to be truthful I have thick skin

I like the chitin blades a lot - nid-compatible without being too derivative.

My only concern is the same as with any nid 'hands' - there's unavoidably a rather small (and therefore fragile) connection point with the rest of the model.

Those missile launchers are awesome, but are they for tau or dreadnaughts? I assume tau since the rest of your line fits that.

BTW, I have a box of your old bio-swords. Those plus these new chitin blades are simply put, the best looking ones on the market by far. I'm actually extremely disappointed I missed this last batch of bio-tendrils and cannot wait for your newest set. Any eta?

Please keep up the fantastic work.

Where do I find the samurai swords on your website. I was interested in purchase a few sets of them and cannot seem to find them outside of the original post in this thread. Any more weapons for fantasy armies coming in the very near future?

Update: Guess it pays to read the blog news on the opposite side of your website. Any update on when the metal versions will be available? What about the back banners that are mentioned in the same post?

It seems a little simplistic, what would be the scale of it?

Paulson Games - October Sale @ 2012/03/11 22:55:40

Here we go, the protruding tip on the left side of the picture doesnt go along with the rest of the aesthetics

Paulson Games - October Sale @ 2012/03/11 23:07:28

Post by: paulson games

Like the other parts I make they are scaled for 54mm mecha. The design is meant to fit alongside the other weaponry I've done, it's a bit simple but I think there's a nice unity to the look.

Luna: Thanks for the pic, I tried tapering the barrel tips down a bit but it doesn't look quite right. I'll post a couple variations shortly.

Edit:

Here's other options for the barrel tips

Paulson Games - October Sale @ 2012/03/12 03:43:07

Post by: Fosner1703

On the tip, maybe put some of the vents similar the Tau Plasma guns. Nothing about this says Plasma too me. None of the cooling vents, etc.

Paulson Games - October Sale @ 2012/03/12 03:59:19

Post by: H.B.M.C.

Of all the barrel tips (counting the first one you posted as "Option 1"), I'd say Option 2. No curves, so it looks better.

It is still rather simplistic though.

Paulson Games - October Sale @ 2012/03/12 04:03:42

I like both the new ones now xD

Paulson Games - October Sale @ 2012/03/12 04:05:17

I prefer #3.

The vents in the sides, sitting in between the two barrels don't seem to make much sense. I woudl try either stretching them a bit, or switching them to top and bottom instead of the sides.

Hey, PaulsonGames, any chance you guys would be developing extended arms and a "held" rifle for Tau XV-8s? Arm-mounting weapons looks fine and all but a lot of the classic mecha media have the suits holding weapons like a human would hold a rifle. The various custom jobs using XV-8s that you can find online look great; the simple change from arm-mounting to traditional "held" weapons really improves the look of the box-bot XV-8s.

I would rip off all my crisis suit's arms and legs if someone make one with proper proportion and poseable -_-

I feel the same and I would be amazed if we were the only ones with this sentiment. A lot of the aesthetic draw of Tau is the similarities in the designs with classic mecha so why not complete the job with some proper arms?

A note on the potential product, it wouldn't even need to be entire new arms (though this of course would make poseability easier). They could simply be wrist/hand pieces that glue in to the ends of the existing XV-8s. The entire arm replacement would be better and I know I would pay more for them but the cheaper and more simple option would be a godsend as well.

I've had a handheld rifle done for almost a year, it was one of my earliest models. I just haven't released it as it needs to be sculpted with robot hands holding the grip.

While I'm doing it in piecemail I am working on a complete robot model which will compliment a game that I've been working on, it's a N scale or 15mm scale game with mecha and alien monsters. (the mechs will be aprox 54mm while infantry is 15mm) It'll be a bit but I will have complete mechs in the semi near future. I'll also continue to have the parts available seperately as I know there's plenty of uses for the parts.

That rifle is awesome!

As for your complete mech plans, as long as the arms and rifle fit XV-8s then you at least have some guaranteed sales right there. If the mech turns out great (which it undoubtedly will) then I'll demand you take my money once again. Can't wait to see how everything turns out!

I would recommend that you focus on the legs next. These are consistently the most reviled part of a Tau Crisis/Broadside.

I went with some OOP Robotech arm and leg swaps on my suits about 5 years ago and they nearly impossible to find anymore. Drawing upon a new conversion source would be an awesome opportunity.

FW has made some incremental improvements on the kit but they really are mostly uninspired and don't really bring a sense of balance, girth and fear that they should.

Also, I would HIGHLY recommend that the arm models you have displayed are multipositional. Something similar to what you did with your Grotesque'esque kit. I really lean on dynamic posing on my Suits to lend a bit of 'Wow' to them. Giving them the ability to straighten, tilt and work a bit of Action Figure pose to them is much appreciated.

The current construction of the upper arm pieces have mobility in thw elbow so they they have a limited range of movement (the forearm can be moved up and down). I may be able to tweak the design a bit to allow for some horizontal movement but I'll have to see if breaking into seperate parts adds to the casting difficulty as that stuff can start getting fiddly.

In a worst case scenario they'd be bendable at the elbow and if you want sideways play they could be cut with a jewelry saw just below the pad which would allow you to turn the upper arm structure and rotate the arm outwards or inwards. Being resin they'd be fairly easy to work with. But I'll see if I can't work something up to save you guys converting time

Here's a closer look at the shoulder piece (the elbow cylinder is atatched to the gun fore arm) I may have to extend the part under the pad slightly in order for it to all work correctly.

I'm hoping to have at least the torso and upper arms printed and molded by end of the month.

I'd like to have the legs done as well but something with the design isn't sitting quite right with me. Before I get it printed I need to do some tinkering as I'd prefer to do something I'm completely happy with, opposed to simply saying "meh that works".

Paulson...I'd like to order the underslung missiles and auto cannon but they both appear to be left-side only. Sorry for being dense but by (1) I'm assuming 1 weapon...are they actually neutral and can be mounted on either side?

Paulson Games - October Sale @ 2012/05/06 23:41:16

Post by: paulson games

The missile launchers and autocannons are mirrored so each side is the same. That way they can be mounted right or left side.

Those wepaons are sold individually so the (1) in the title means the price is per copy. The heads are sold in sets of 3 which is why they have a (3) in the title.

I hadn't thought of that but you're perfectly right, I'd probably add a set of engines on the side but they do have a certain space ship type look to them. Might tweak the model a bit and make some starship scale stuff as it'd be a fun change of pace to work on.

--------------------

I have some new stuff coming up shortly

Samurai style sashimono banners. All four versions will be available in two sizes 28mm infantry & a larger ogre sized version scaled for 40-60mm stuff.

WIP model for a UFO like thingy with guns. (i've been playing entirely too much Xcom lately)

Weapons aren't final but a rough idea of what I'm thinking. Will be around 30mm long and will mount on a flying stand.

I'm aiming to have these headed off to printing on monday with the goal of having the first casts ready by the end of the month.

Paulson Games - October Sale @ 2012/09/14 20:06:33

Post by: coyotius

I like the back banners but I'm not sure I'd use them as my Tau don't have a samurai theme. The not-sniper drones are fun and I'll definitely pick some up.

Wishlist:

Hand-held, modular rifle for crisis suits...modular meaning that the end of the rifle could be swapped depending on the loadout (plasma, fusion, etc.) without having to remove the whole rifle from the model.

Hands. Obviously, if you're going to have a held rifle, the suit is going to need hands. Power fists have worked in the past but it would be nice to have purpose built bits.

Alternate not-railgun and not-ion cannon for not-hammerheads. Upscaled versions of the rail gun (long version) and beam gun (medium version) that you already make would be perfect.

P.S. Got the mecha heads and beam guns...great casts...can't wait to use 'em.

Edit: Any chance of seeing some of the weapons you mentioned previously (sorry for the small pic)?

I'm going to be taking an extended break from casting.

I've accepted the posistion of lead designer for another company. Until their product line is up and running I won't have time to maintain my personal business. As a result my website & store will be going off line for about 6-7 months.

It's a big move and one that I'm very excited about. I'll reveal more information when I can. (it involves some awesome mech designs)

I'll continue taking and filling orders until Nov 10th, so if you need any parts make sure to get orders in ASAP.

After that point I don't expect to do any casting until next summer

Thanks for the comments

I'm always self critical of my work and like to keep improving wherever I can.

The UFO ships won't be available until I re-open the site and they'll probably be redesigned a bit by then as I'm still toying with the weapons.

I think I've hit a new personal level on the rifle designs, I've had the concept floating around since I started up but my modelling skills weren't as strong then and I needed to find the right printer capable of the finer details. Between the mechs I was doing for Robotech and the rifles I feel like I turned a very good corner on how I will be modelling new designs in the future.

When I re-open I think I may be putting up revised & updated versions of a lot of my olders sculpts. (railguns and missile launchers) At this point I can add a lot more to the designs but I still enjoy the original weapon profiles so I'll aim for the best of both.

Another possible change for future stuff is doing some items in metal, it cuts down the amount of time I need to spend doing the casting and also lets me do smaller parts that are too fragile in resin. The larger stuff (like mech parts) will stay in resin but small items like the infantry weapons will likely go metal and hopefully I can drop their costs slightly.

I'll definately let people know about my new project when I'm able, it has me very excited about the modelling as it'll be a bit of a challenge but one I'm looking forward to.

I know they're busy, but if you're thinking about going with metal, maybe you could look into Trollcast instead. It sounds like really good stuff.

Updates.

The website is up and running again. I've been able to enlist some help to take over casting which allows me to focus on design work and my other job while making parts available again (in limited quantities).

Here's a couple roughs I was working on and wanted to see what you guys think. I'm also considering working on revised versions of the missile launchers. So if you have any thoughts on changes you'd like to see on my older models or comments on the WIP stuff please fire away as I'd like to hear your thoughts.

A couple Qs.

Do you guys like the idea of a dual auto cannon set up?

Single & dual lasers?

Are the mecha beam cannons too large? Would they be better if they were resized slightly smaller?

Do you like sensors being included on the weapon or would you prefer versions of them without the sensor?

Dual AC

Single laser

Dual Laser

Older designs for reference - Long beam gun, long rail gun, med beam gun, medium rail gun, underslung railgun

Post by: Jefffar

That dual AC needs some kind of ammo hopper or something to represent the insane load of ammunition it would go through after a few short bursts. The front end looks fine to me.

I am digging that laser though.

Having bought from you twice, I have to say I'm really liking these new designs. The dual autocannon would be great for making an XV9 conversion. I also really like the lasers...they would work nicely as Tau plasma rifles...the dual being a great way to convert Shas'o R'Myr. Keep up the great work!

I am SOOOOO glad your store is back up and runing.

It wasn't 10 minutes after I found the store back online ans I threw Paulson Games another $100 order! his mech and infantry weapon line up is IMO the undisputed champ of advanced tech bitz for the 28- 54 mm scalre range. His bits aren't suitable replacements for certain 40k weaponry (though they clearly aren't meant as such.)....they are clearly SUPERIOR in design and each new stage of his development exceeds his previous efforts!

Plese don't scare me by closing down your shop again.

That would be cool. I'd also kill for a new design for feet and Calves of mecha suits. I'd snip the legs off of all of my Battlesuits for a killer new design that didn't look like birds feet.

Thanks Tim

I'm glad that the designs feel like they are imrpoving. I've run into a odd situation as I'm capable of modelling much more advanced looking stuff but in a way I have to keep it dialed back in order to keep a uniform look with my older parts. Hopefully I can provide a peek of my other project soon as it shows off a lot more of what I've learned in regards to 3-D.

A lot of people have been asking for a rescaled version of the beam guns so here's a set in the underslung style, would be roughly the same length as the laser cannons & autocannons.

I wanted to get some opinions on the rear end of the underslung beamers. Do you guys prefer the top or bottom version?

Paulson Games - October Sale @ 2012/12/12 04:41:20

Hmm- would it be possible to make the diagonally pointed downward cylinder, point diagonally up instead? I know it's underslung, but that should be behind the arm, anyway. I think that would make it look more natural.

those are cool.

Now, to figure out how the heck to magnetize them to my suits...

Do you design them with this in mind?

Paulson Games - October Sale @ 2012/12/13 06:23:20

Post by: paulson games

Nothing specific in the design towards magnetizing. If you have a dremmel tool it would be a fairly simple process to add magnets to any type of model. (the resin s very easy to work with)

The cylinder forms a generic elbow, once you determine the angle you want it displayed at that'd likely be the ideal place to drill out and add a magnet.

Paulson Games - October Sale @ 2012/12/13 07:12:56

Number 3 for me, looks pretty cool! mind you they're all nice designs that you do!

Paulson Games - October Sale @ 2012/12/13 07:39:04

Post by: paulson games

I made a couple small updates since the last render and I've sent the parts are off to the printer. I went with option #2 as it had the lead in feedback that I've gotten. The resin is quite easy to work with so It should be a fairly simple task to rearrange or remove the cylinders if desired.

I should have final pics in hand within the next two weeks, and a Jan 1st release date for all 3 of the new parts. (knock on wood)

I'm also having my missile launcher model reprinted, I made some minor adjustments to it to help with the casting. The sensor was made slightly more shallow and the rear vent was reworked which will hopefully cause less wear on the molds and result in cleaner casts.

Paulson Games - October Sale @ 2012/12/13 16:02:55

Post by: derling

I think option 2 is the best design for the fore arm replacement weapon system, it makes nore sense that the extra techy bitz would lean downward to avoid getting in the way, so I think you are on the right path.

I would love to see that and a lighter, more agile meca of a similar size, perhaps with flight capabilities. Make them compatible with your existing 54mm mecha weapon range and I think you might have a couple of big sellers.

I hope everyone had a good Christmas.

Sadly it's time to get back to work; I'm debating about having some of my older infantry weapons and shields reprinted as I think they'd benefit from a higher resolution print.

Before I do does anyone have any suggestions for them? Do you guys prefer the semi-circle rounded rivets or would cylinder style rivets be better?

(looking at the Tower shield, round shield, axes, spear, warhammers)

Are there any specific melee weapons that you guys would like to see?

Staman: thanks for the pic, looks good. (and thanks for the order)

Any estimated time when Hi Tech banners will be available?

Paulson Games - October Sale @ 2013/01/02 21:46:20

Post by: paulson games

I have new set of master molds going right now for the large size banners, hopefully I can get the bubbling issues worked out. I'd taken them down from the site because I was getting a horrible ratio of miscasts on them. If this new attempt works I should have them available again by this weekend, if it doesn't work then I'll need to make changes to the models and have them reprinted which will take a while.

I will try and get an update on their status by this weekend.

The Mayan Apocalypse has passed. Prepping our bunkers and hosting end of the world parties has left everybody broke, so what better time than now to hold a sale!

Between now and Jan 15th everything is 20% off.

When you are using the check out feature, enter Apocalypse in the discount code and it'll take 20% off your total.

Also the large scale sci-fi banners are available again. I'm working on the models for the sashimono style ones and if those come out ok they should be avilable later this weekend.

ERRRMMMM I could use these, it is nice to see some terrain pieces that you see every day in RL but never really take that much notice of, but put them in scenes/dioramas or even game boards and hey presto AMAZING !!!

Nice job mate will have a few , whats the price tag

Paulson Games - October Sale @ 2013/01/10 04:42:00

Post by: paulson games

I need to get the models in before I can calculate their volume and final price. I'm going to try and keep them in the $2-3 range.

The vending machines are about 40mm tall, 25mm wide, 20mm deep so they will give good cover to miniatures on a 25mm base. The data terminal and garbage can are both about 20mm tall so they are a bit smaller.

These are going to be my test pieces, as longas there's demand for the casts then I plan on doing a whole ton of scatter terrain. Stuff you'd see in malls or transportation terminals etc. I'm hoping people like these, I plan on using some for terrain in my Infinity games.

That sounds fair I know it is a risk doing scenery (which is a shame ) as people always prepared to spend money on figures not so much the scenery, however these do look pretty nice I have to say.

I would be down for some and if you can get them in around that price I would be very happy these will make some nice background eye candy I am thinking of uses for these even now.

I hope they sell well and hope to see more in the future

Sorry those heads you were working on the dread looking heads any progress ?

Post by: paulson games

It feels kinda odd to halt the sale mid week, so I've extended it until sunday (the 20th)

Spartan heads: not a bad idea but also something I want to take on right now, I need to work on terrain and robots.

Alien tenticles: I don't have any solid ideas for a new design yet, I had a few but none of them that I've been particuarly happy with and alien parts aren't the seller they were 1-2 years ago.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I've had the models for these done for a while but there's some issues with molding them that will require them to be remastered. Before I go through that expense I thought I'd get a feel for people's interest level.

Currently the pieces are sized at 30x30mm and are 2mm thick. Is that a preferred size or would a 25x25mm base better, or 40x40mm? (increasing to a 40mm size would also increase costs)

Would you prefer to buy them cast or would it be preferable to buy molds ala Hirst Arts style that lets you cast your own pieces?

Rough cost for resin would likely fall around $2.50 for a 1x3 tile (30mmx90mm) Molds would likely be around $25-$30 and make 3 seperate pieces per pour 1x3,1x2, 1x1.

These pics are not final versions.

Sorry but not everything is in my control in regards to cancelling the tendril sculpts. I have some external restrictions being imposed on that particular sculpt that I'm not sure how to work around and still produce a quality part. I'd prefer not to put out a poorly done hackjob just to get something out there.

Post by: Salacious Greed

Speaking to the floor tiles:

If you're going to make a $25-$30 mold, this is what I would envision:

I only want one of the patterns in the mold. Lets say the diamond plate one. I want a 40mm 1x1, 1x2, 1x3, 2x2 and 2x3. As this won't exhaust the space on the mold, I also would like the 25mm or 30mm 1x1, 1x2, 1x3, 2x2 and 2x3. This would let me make some space corridors with the 40mm tiles, and also use them on bases to base my 25mm and 40mm guys on. Problem solved. If I want more than one pattern, then I buy another mold with that pattern. Now, if you could put some 1x1 and 2x2 40mm doors on there to go with it, you'd be in business!

The pieces look great by the way. I'd love a mold to make my own!

Paulson Games - October Sale @ 2013/01/15 23:16:58

Post by: lone dirty dog

I would say the mould idea is a good one maybe a couple of options might be a good idea, like suggested above but also a mould of mixed designs.

You might find a demand for ready made as well though, I would try a poll and see what the feedback is to get more of a better idea.

I still think the street furniture was the road to take, they look great and i was thinking or hoping that you will expand the range.

So I'm guessing that GW does not like part of the sculpt, so it needs to be modified? Why didn't you tell us this a year ago, instead of just saying they they would be back in production in January 2012?

Please PM me the specifics and lets see what can be done.

Just produce both sell twice as many

Have to say got my order the other day and the street furniture is brilliant, makes great scene props and adds that extra details to display bases.

The casts are clean and crisp with just a little mould line which is easily cleaned up, but the detail is great I really do love these models.

I also thought it was great that you issued stickers for the bins and the com, now if you could do a damaged version of these dented broken fronts ect that would be great.

As a curiosity, what is your reasoning behind the right two heads? They're missing an obvious and iconic camera/eye. You say 'visor', but is the expectation/intent for the flat area to be painted as if it were glass?

Looks great regardless. Quality is obviously there, I just can't wrap my head around the concept.

Paulson Games - October Sale @ 2013/04/08 08:36:12

Post by: paulson games

Yes the idea for the flat surface is that it would be painted to resemble glass. Sort of like a motorcycle helmet , much of the inspiration behind the heads comes from the Patlabor series.

Maybe it's because I could relate to him being all alone on cybertron and having no real friends but deals with a couple demanding jerks who only call him when they need something back on earth. lol Stuff like that would make any sensible robot want to turn into a gun and start shooting stuff.

That is also by far my favorite version of him, giant purple pecs and all.

Expect to see someing that'd fit that bill in the near future.

I've never seen that shockwave render, it is sweet! I love heads like that (i.e. just one eye, like the Necron deathmarks).

I'd love to see some resin add on parts to enhance the old XV-8 design, such as shoulder pads, knee pads shin guards and so forth. That would rock!

I would say ix-nay on the chapterhouse-say?

Those parts could come out after this body he just demoed came out, to be safe, imho.

Yes the idea for the flat surface is that it would be painted to resemble glass. Sort of like a motorcycle helmet , much of the inspiration behind the heads comes from the Patlabor series.

Oh man, I was sure it was Robotech. I even have the theme song stuck in my head now.

How would these heads fit on, say, a Reaper CAV model?

Ever thought of doing not tau-drones? Alot of people are going to start using drones a lot more because of the new book and the new drone controller.

Can't decide if the WFC/FOC version is or if his Prime version is. They're the same Shockwave, so guess it doesn't matter. Hearts of Steel Shockie is a close second.

Also, to be fair, Shockie's ALWAYS had those pecs.

They were all mech parts, tech shields for the body. A mech rifle for the left most, missile launcher for the middle and a mech head for the right. They all needed a bit of trimming to fit but it was easy since they are resin.

Paulson may want to consider sculpting a few antenna then (as that's all that's GW's), and then selling them as Drone stand ins.

Not a bad idea. Paulson's stuff is so universally great/better that the more stuff he makes available the better.

Personally, I've actually put a halt on my army building specifically to wait for various mecha parts like rifle-wielding arms and stuff like that. When it comes to 54mm mecha stuff, really can't do much better than Paulson's bits!

Paulson Games - October Sale @ 2013/04/29 15:54:28

Post by: Ketara

I'm not suggesting he sculpt an exact copy of the GW antenna and label it 'Tau drone'. That would indeed be silly. I presumed that as a given.

If a 'sensor head' should happen to be sculpted that when combined with the other bits makes a 'levitating servant robot', why, I see no problem with that.

Lol, I take a weekend off and my thread lights up.

First Stanman & Mad Pat thanks for posting I always enjoy seeing various conversions and uses that people come up with. The shield modifications are creative and not something I would have expected, being that when I designed the shields I had in mind that they'd be used as shields. I can't endorse the use of my parts with other 3rd party models, but you guys are always free to do whatever you want with them.

This thread has already ventured quite far off course so lets go back to discussion pertaining to new releases

Speaking of which I've sent out a new batch of heads to the printer which I'm hoping to have back by mid May.

The new "Glass visor" heads?! color me eager for them to hit the store!

Also that 3d mecha model looks slick. It looks like the torso swivels. Are the arms in Ball joints, or simply connected flatly. I could see that serving in my great good. I'm still vying for mecha feet/calves that look more cloven/thick and a hint less chicken feet. You are the man to do it!

I've gotten a lot of comments on how people are using some of the weapon parts to make bodies for fleet scale space ships, figured I'd help make the conversions a bit easier. Here's a take on some heavy laser frigates which can also double as some oversized mecha guns.

These are currently at the printer along with the visored mech heads, which leaves me a bit stretched on funds. I've had a really rough month with bills and covering all the preparation stuff for the mecha front KS so I'm going to holding a sale.

20% off everything until I can sell enough to cover the printing costs of these models and the mecha front test piece. Once I have those covered the sales ends. So it may last through the end of the month or it could be done in 3days, if there's something you need don't procrastinate. Enter the word sale in the discount code section when checking out and it'll take 20% off the order.

Quick question: would those big mecha guns fit a 1/44 Gundam?

I'm liking the look of a lot of these, but I'm hesitant to buy them unless I can bash them into a GD.

Here's some of my parts vs a 1/144 scale gundam model.

I have a few more pics and additional shots against some of the 1/200 actions figures here http://s661.photobucket.com/user/paulsongames/library/scale%20shots

The mech rifles are on the small side for 1/144 scale, but the rest work fairly well. Gundam rifles are always HUGE so even if it were an ok fit it's seem small due to how large the GD hand weapons are.

The weapons shown on the renders immediately above this post will be about 20% longer than the current lasers shown in the gundam reference pic. (Same barrel diameter though)

I've bought from Paulson twice now, and I can vouch for the quality and good looks of the parts. Especially the missile pods, the shield parts and those fething huge guns.

I hate to be the guy to ask, but would those frigates be viable underneath your shields as an armed UFO type model? They look fantastic, especially compared to the alternative.

Additionally, do you have an estimated release date on those?

I'm not sure the Javelin is the best choice of model for a size comparison. The Victory era Gundam kits are some of the smallest 1/144 Gundam kits out there. The weapons look like they might be a little undersized for the average MS. I think I'd be a bit more curious to see them with a 1/48 VOTOMS figure.

The biggest and best 4 days of gaming start in just 2 days (technically 3 days, but any good gaming addict arrives in Indy on Wednesday ). Most places shut down because of GenCon so that they can sell things at GenCon, many online stores (such as PP and Wyrd) are open during GenCon, but you won't get your order processed until after the show anyways.

I used a set of the underslung beamers to modify one of my raptors which came out pretty well. They are a bit large on the light mechs but work if you want a big chunky weapon. They would fit medium mechs pretty well (when I get them done).

The missile launchers and railguns are pretty huge and boxy so I'm not sure how well they'd pair up.
