Ha! I see the source of your confusion. Nah, just construction of wing 2:
Automatically Appended Next Post: Thanks for being my cheer team gits This one is coming together much faster, perhaps unsurprisingly, as it's a lot less trial and error. Also I've not added the intake yet, so can manipulate from within the engine body. Wondering whether to add aerialons to the sides of the tail body?
In other news, I think I've found the other exorcist pod, so that will progress anon. Also, been playing Mansions of Madness, so might paint up some mythos badness for variety (although ANY painting would be a change )
So are you thinking a vertical aerial from the top of the body and fine wire or thread to each tail fin aerial?
A bit like WW2 planes had?
Btw I am in awe of what you have achjeved with your flier, it looks amazing
Thanks mate. I was thinking the little triple aerials from the nephilim either side of the tail at the vents or a long thin one along the top running to the back (previously I had had that on the underbelly).
With Gits and Solar talking about fender Stratocasters and such like I was looking at the cannon on the front and it was kinda reminding me of those spotlights they have at concerts with the different colour glass on the front or the old old school tv cameras.
So for my wacky suggestion, I say ork rock concert below with different colour mini explosions on the grounds as if the light from the "spots" is hitting the ground and a small bouncy castle full of grots!!!
Slightly more rational suggestion, a burning renegade vehicle with bodies hanging out the hatch and cultists running out the back of it getting cut down in a hail of lead from the cannon on the front of the avenger... maybe pose 1 like Sgt Elias rom Platoon
Ah, that's what you meant! Yes, I like them. I thought it was some kind of fancy aeronautical terminology that a simple biologist like myself couldn't possibly understand.
Very reminiscent of Shuttle Tydyrium (obviously missing the central wing on top). So, with in mind, the base should be a forest with little teddy bears beating up Space Marines
MagosBiff90 wrote:Love the geometry and look of this! Really menacing shape! awesome skills buddy!

Oh now there's a thought I do have sentinels spare that I could use and have a blasted, ruined tree as a fight stand. Kewl!
Hehe do a sentinel with trees either side. 2 logs swinging and a crushed sentinel cab!!!
Or a sentinel about to go between the trees and fall over a giant rope trip wire hahaha!!!
Could be a comedy sentinel squadron, "The Lucky 13's"
Automatically Appended Next Post: Gah, maybe its the 5 cups of coffee, but my brain is going daft with sentinel ideas.... Last one for a while I promise!!
A line of logs on the ground with a sentinel wobbling/ moonwalking/ sliding/ toppling along the top of the logs, trying not to fall on its backside...
Aside from some gs filling on the inside edges of the wing to the fuselage, and the rims of the engine intakes, I think it's done. So, on to the base! The question remains, if I do the Star Wars theme: IG Sentinel or Renegade? Ratlings or Grot-woks? There will probably be 2 of these bases (1 for the Valk), if that's a factor in your decision making
Thanks mate, it's not a true scratch though, just one of my demented kitbashes but then that's how I roll. I keep seeing flaws and inconsistencies, and keep re-gsing bits! But having a primer deadline should force me to stop tweaking it... maybe

You suffer from creator syndrome. You made it, so you see its flaws. Unless it is horribly obvious, which to me i cant see any, it is ok. Just prime it sooner than later because too much tweaking will doom it, at least in my case.

Too true - & Sig'd!
So, here we go - sorry about the delay, frenzied marking:
I'm still not happy about the portside wing on the inside edge of the engine. Might have to redo that. Otherwise, pretty content. And, yes, the canopy's still not on. Going to nip to FLGS today and get plastic glue (yuck).
And the undercarriage (fnar)
Mostly, as I say, very pleased. Might even paint it
Onto other matters. Wonderful wife got me these oddities:
I don't know exactly what to do with them, but it'll be... something. Maybe I'll run a contest for who can use a strip most inventively? What do y'all think?
Gradually trimming down my collection to SoB and GKs pretty much exclusively. A good choice, I think. The IG are pretty much gone now apart from my Valk and enough Kasrkin to give me vet support if I so desire. Stormtroopers FTW, and so forth. There's a whole bunch of classic chaos and csm in my trade thread over here amongst other things, though.
Lastly, for your consideration, I'm thinking about what to do with these guys:
I was considering turning them into Daemonhosts, have various daemonic limbs emerging from them etc. Thoughts?
Cheers, and thanks for your continuing support, C&C and mutterings,
graven
hey graven... a big congratz for finishing the build of this flyer... truly a league of it´s own...! now primed it looks one giant leap further along completion.
I am too thinking of the base... there two major path this flyer could get a themed base...
one: avenging angel... meaning the flyer is meant to avenge something of their own... so about to strike down hard on evil incarnate of a demonic army of your choice...
or...
two: protecting hen () ...meaning it is flying directly over a small squad or other troop something of your own army to protect them...like a giant mother hen that shields it´s offspring with their wings...can you imagine this like me?...probably with evasive fire and lots of blast effects to practise OSL...
either way I would include big plumes of smoke to hide as much as you can of the stand of the base...
as for the last shown possible models...what about new penitent engines? these could also be the sinner pilots?...
The flyer looks ace all in a unified color, but will look even better painted(nudge nudge, and I will say more later if the brushes don't get a moe on ). Seriously this will be a big motivator for you if you take it from concept to build to paint to actually fielding it.
Are those crucified people big enough to be the front of a penitent engine maybe?

I like the vengeance idea, but also the protection. I'm now considering a SoB shrine being assaulted, possibly by orks, with the Avenger defending. Another idea is to turn the stand into some kind of Tyranid weapon maybe?

Too kind. I'm pleased with the detailing too. I have to say the next step is the debate over what colour to do it - probably a heavily weathered white with turquoise and brass accents, like the Order of the Tear themselves.

I'm really pleased folk think so. And for half the cost (and let's face it, building a FW would probably have taken a month anyway).
Just to echo what everyone has said. Amazing build and looks great now primed.
When I saw your tortured souls hanging about the first thought I had was Daemonhosts, so yeah, they would look good if you went with that.
Thanks chaps once again for your kind words. No paint yet but slightly interesting news: I found a Goff rock band on eBay for a steal so if anyone has any suggestions for how to do the stage (aka flight stand) and mosh pit then do say!
put them on the front of the oval and build a overhanging stage light girder system to hold up the jet. You can run some l.e.d. spotlights as well as a tarp/backdrop behind them . No need for a mosh pit as the enemy will be moshed by the weapons.
back half of the oval raised up maybe use polystyreme foam, use papier mache or plaster to make a skirt around it like atraditional old school stage and place the band on top. Back quarter at the curve of the oval a stack of amps/ speakers and from the front of the stage a thick wire frame (coat hanger) bent in a square like a lighting rig and you could mount the avenger just above it as if it is floating/ swooping in from backstage.... The orks in running- waving gun or getting blown to bits poses, enjoying the gig and a few gretchin peeking out from under the stage
Brain fried at the moment so no comments on stage antics, but think the guys are on the right lines with using the light rigging for support. Either that or toppling a big old stack of speakers.
Hanging penitents should make great daemonhosts, those incense bearers could be turned into some kind of holy incense shells for a vindicator type wagon couldn't they?
Cool ideas with the goff rockers. I think I might have some backstage grots, and the band on stage over the front. I might use a whirlwind launcher as an amp, and I've got lots of IG crates that I can use for gear ( I may have a grot guitar roadie, too). MT - great to see you, and if anyone has good ideas for orks, it's you. The ones I scored were without the incense burners, alas (but they were, you know, free). I'm thinking of a single daemonic mark on each - a mouth in the belly for one, a tentacle out the back for another and... something else?! Some paint! Proof I do stuff occasionally: To me it just highlights my shoddy gs work though
mere men would have rest the case...but not this brave messenger...

and a big thank you again for trying and succeeding...graven...this should be a saluting orkmoticon... thanks on so many levels...!

also... I am wondering... if your avenger makes so many holes into just a jam sessioning bunch of orks... wouldn´t that be , beside being plain awesome, make your SOB a bit evil?...I mean...
"Where there is song, you can safely stay, wicked people have no songs".
^ I try @ llama - you've given me an idea *shakes fist*
Sorry for going a bit quiet. Work has turned into an unholy smegstorm which is going to turn very ugly.
Been thinking about the rock band, provisionally called Hot Blak (bonus marks for first person who gets the reference). I realise we need drums and a keyboard. I figure if I use an exorcist organ's keyboard then the Avenger is justified!
Thanks 1MN! I need to get some more on it, before I get totally distracted by the base
And yes, internet cookies to MT. I think that's the name of their new album (or possibly what the Avenger has planned.
Roughly, the basing will be (at the moment) a couple of CoD building plates, in assorted rubble - or should I actually make a raised stage? The stem's going to be strewn with lights, probably IG searchlights.
As for positioning on "stage" I thought maybe the guitarist goffs down the front with keyboardist one side (again, possibly raised) of the stem at the back Left and the drummer on the other, likewise on a raised bit. Is 5 enough, or will I have a singer also?
Does that all make sense? Still have to work out where the gobber roadies are going
I've never seen the animosity group before! I'm thinking of making the audience the base of the accompanying valkyrie. And now, they are a plan!
Here's the band just now:
Drum kit is doing my head in, can't get it quite right. I do know there will be a gong for the squig to bang!
Awesome.
Going to vote for a steel drum kit one of those Caribbean ones with the wonderful sounds made of oil drums. Equally an Ewok style Glockenspeil made of marine heads would work beautifully. Plague Monk sprue has a proper gong on it and I've got Ork and Zombie ones if your interested.
@MT - I shall tell her you called her that! mysterious microbiological bit, a little small though. I have literally hundreds if you'd like some to play with?
@ llama - plague monk gong is exactly where I'm going with this, and an ewokglok is a great shout.
We've been clearing out the kids' old toys today. Nabbed this beauty, it's like a foot high, and I've had my eye on it for 6 years...
Gee, I wonder what that's going to become?
Well the tracks will go to an orky battle-wagon, the arms will become claws on a brass scorpion, the pipes on the head will become exhausts on a nob biker, the top of the head will be a command cupola on a necron flying disc, the rest of the head will be the stage for the goff rockers and the torso will become the main body of a UFO SHADO-mobile, with the openinng roof to reveal the missiles.
You guys are fething hilarious So, yeah, eventually, a stompa, complete with led eyes and mouth, opening torso and gut - a fun long term project with the kids.
Also - Drum kit:
And group shot:
next, rivets on the stem! There will be runt roadies, too, including an ammo runt. onwards!

Popular chap. Will try to catch you then.
So, further thought. Is this too much?
A few grot crew hanging off? This would be under the nose of the Avenger though. Might be too much, or possibly good excuse for stairway jokes?
Too much? Nope, think it will tie everything together very nicely. I'd ditch the transparent flight stand and use the lighting rig as the stand instead.
Thanks chaps. Ask, and ye shall receive:
I think it works ok, what do y'all reckon?
Really bummed out today, just crappy personal stuff.
Spoiler:
Mrs G had a miscarriage. Early, and I know that as such it's a natural process, but didn't make it any easier. I have 2 awesome boys, and we are great as a 4, and not even sure we can afford another. Still.
Not a great day.
Funny how the internet provides one with the anonymity - sorta - to talk about such things.
Anyway, a primer mishap nearly did for some SoB, but I think I've rescued them without need for stripping. Hopefully, more paint to follow soon!
mate, my deepest condolences, no matter how long the little one was able to grow, it is a loss no one can prepare as for...reading this always makes me very thankfully we have two great healthy kids already...currently we´ve closed, so to speak the shop...I have no idea how to cope with such outcomes...I wish you all the strength you need to get through the next weeks... your wife now needs your kids more than ever, they have to cuddle her on a daily basis...
to your base...I like the new way your stand develops, the ladder is a cool idea and what you´ve planned for the ladder with grotz added too!, one thing tho...now with the avenger added for the early look, I think it needs to be raised a bit, I think there needs to be still a bit of space underneath the flyer...look like it is already resting on the ladder now...
I honestly don't know which is my favourite - the two bickering, the one swinging desperately to fix the lights, or the one holding Da Finisha who's about to get hit by a flaming bottle of TerKilla...
I'm a little late to the news bro, but my thoughts and prayers are with you and the misses. Was sh far enough along where the kids and family knew? Sorry if I'm too nosey.
those bickering are my favourite ones...love that kind of attitude with grotz, ladder looks now way better ! and I EXPECT now a snappy sign on the end of the ladder (upper position is ment...)
the conversion of the gnobblar to grot holding that big rolling pin is a nice one too!
I hate to say it, but that base is taking over as the main focus from the flyer - it's so dynamic and characterful... I wonder if the flight stand should be taller to compensate?

My best wishes to you and your family, truly awful news. Puts a lot of the so called RL work gak we worry about into perspective...

Thanks llama. Bit hit and miss, but we'll get there.
Been continuing the clearout, to take my mind off things, and end up tweaking the tail of the Avenger in the process:
Still needs a bit immediately in front of the tail, I think, just to tidy it up (this was where abortive attempt at WW2 style wire was, you may recall). I had always intended to add these wee strips of rivets (More rivets makes it go faster. Or grimarker, anyway) and the Fleur just fitted there too perfectly not to use.
Speaking of rivets, next job will be getting the rest of the rivets etc added to flight stand to complete the gantry look and then - to the primer-ing! Although, does the surface of the base itself need anything (e.g. treadplate? urban rubble? left plain black, like a stage, with hazard edging?) After the last primer hiccup, I'm going to try black car primer for the base/orks. We'll see...
Point taken on the base... although I still think the stand should be higher given the wing span and the wing angle, but I will keep that to myself for now
I'm not one to tell you either way, but I have two of the 28mm plastic ones and a 15mm one along with a 28mm mortis and a 28mm resin crusader, so I'm a little partial .
its not allowed to be a distraction for you though.
Get a few buddies go ether near you to order and get the free shipping (once again I'm not condoning nothing )
er....where did younadd rivets to the stand? or am I thinking the wrong way here? I thought you would paint the stand up to the floodlights and after that it will stay clear....question: if so, then it could do in the lower part with some rivets too...just saying...
I've added some riveted plastruct (cannibalised from a kid's race track) to the base of the flight stand. That make sense? There will also be cabling running down from the lights.
dantay_xv wrote: Wow, cool, In the spirit of nuttiness I say yes to the cabling but with mini-squigs or snotling on little hamster wheels powering the lights
See crazy, not silly
That way madness (alright, further madness) lies...
I've decided, though, that Vik is right ( why did I ever doubt this? ) and it needs to be rivet-t-ier: Otherwise, I might as well hand my =L_= card back... There will also be a bit of gs gap filling, although it IS orky
What do we think of the addition of these plates to the base? I really don't know how to tackle it at all, I think these plus a couple of bits of treadplate maybe I'm also thinking about a small banner running down the middle of the lights with HOT BLAK on it. Yay/nay?
I think the pllates look fine! Are you going to still use the boarding ramp for the guitar/singer too?
Oh and you need to make a footpedal sound effect thingy for your lead ork gutarist, maybe a wee bunch of squigs on a board with cables going to an amplifier/speaker, so He can get cool noizez from 'iz axe wen 'e riffzz....
And a baner is a cool idea... Battle ov da Bandz!!

Tiniest little thing for me. I would pick out detail like weapon tips etc. Maybe put some metalic on the back of the engine exhausts, when paint would not stick. But I am being a bit fussy and its a personal thing is all.
Thanks kindly matey! Nothing fussy about it, good catch! I'll try a gunmetal blue drybrush I think. Also I still need to do inside the engines, now that I think of it.

Thanks to you all - I'm touched (quite possibly in the head, but that's another matter...)
Next question: on the stage, should I do the rhino doors as if from different chapters (i.e., EXPLICITLY rhino doors / different colours) or will that just distract from the whole shebang?
Who's your opponent? When looting gubbins always make sure the chapter your regular opponent plays appears somewhere. My Ork Nobz in Verminator armour were painted in deathwing colours as two of my arch nemesises played Dark Angels and the entire society seemed to use them as objectives so........
Sorry I've been a bit quiet, trapped a nerve in my back the other day lifting washing and ended up like an inverse turtle, face down, unable to stand. Am now just about back to some semblance of normality, whatever that is. Apparently, according to one 15-yr old pupil, that's what happens when you get old (I'm 35...)

M0rdain wrote:Randomness of colour does seem to be orky. I agree with Llamahead use opponents colours if possible.
Opponent? What's that? You imply I actually get to play with my toys?
Solar_lion wrote:Agreed,.. I like using my fellow Warders chapters for my Lamenters bases. Minotaurs and Red scorpions being my all time favorite!
Flyer looks great. Much better with the engine streaks.
Well I think I might go down a dakkanauty colour scheme then. And thanks for kind words, cheers, streaks just had to be done.
Of course, now it's just glaring at me, waiting for its base
So, I've blocked in the black of Orks' jackets, along with green skin, but that's boring. Base, you say?
Believe it or not, the doors colours etc. are homaged as follows: Front centre, Dark Angels (MissDee) Under the Whirlwind launcher amp, Minotaurs (brianchj) Whirlwind launcher amp, Death Guard (MagosBiff) Right of centre, Nova Marines (Stoney Boy, one of my closest friends - also, my original Epic army as a kid) Far Right, Lamenters (Solar_Lion)
Clockwise from Under Generator: Order of Blue Tear (meeeeee) Mantis Warriors (gitsplitta) Knights Carnelian (me again) Gray Nights (Knightley - note squiggles ) Star Phantoms (Yggdrasil) and back to Lamenters again.
Obviously the base itself needs a bit of tidying, but as a first pass I'm reasonably pleased. I appreciate that there's no insignia or anything, but it's just a gentle nod to my fellow dakkasauruses. Mostly these will be under instruments, orks, etc. It was fun to play with the new Ryza/Typhon paint combo, certainly. Happy also with how the generator and amp are coming along, although a long way off.
And a quick group shot WIP (crappy phone pic)
I'm seriously considering painting the band's banner White to break it up a bit, writing Hot Blak on and *gulp* doing a checkerboard border, or possibly on the tassles. As for the band, probably blue jeans, red and bright colour splashes elsewhere. Thoughts, mes amis? Cheers, graven
That's dedication, crippled himself to spend more time at home modelling, and doing laundry, now that's a man, she can't ask you to do it ever again now, well done sir.
As to the model, well it's amazing. Nuff said.

@ weets - same basic techniques and tools... hint, hint...

It'll be fantastic graven. I'm really excited to see this base all painted up. You need to make sure that it's different enough stylistically that it provides a nice counter-point to your flyer, rather than blending in with it and muddling up the whole thing.
Time off from work(good)
Wife never having you do laundry again so you don't hurt your back....PRICELESS.
we know it was all planned.
As for the pupil that called you old I hope you gave him/her a failing grade on their next assignment. Add a little note to it saying "Old teachers are grumpy.....and vendictive " of course you give them the proper grade, but make them think for a bit.
Thanks MT did you notice that the tour is 'Year Ded'?
@gits Me too, hopefully no fear of that, see pics below.
@ Theo - day off I'm just glad my chair at work has wheels and lumbar support she's actually a star pupil bless her...

And I can see that now I'm looking on a proper screen
Coming together nicely with the avnger in place, going to be very cool.
Hey folks an unconnected question that could lead to a massive distraction. The manager at my local GW is a good guy and pretty old school in his tastes. He's planning on a 100 pt inquisition kill team campaign for other old timers.
Not being very familiar with kill team, what makes for a good warband? obviously this only 100 pts, and there's got to be a =][= in there! any ideas appreciated, though...
^ Thanks mate. getting there!
As for the kill team, I've had a rummage and had some ideas. Acolytes are very potent as 1 can be upgraded to Interrogator (gains scenario bonuses) and 2 more can gain scenario-specific traits. Mystic's are half price and likewise can help in scenarios.
So here's my list
=][= with combi (flamer maybe?) 40 - going to use the old mail order inquisitor
Interrogator with bolter 20 - arbites dog handler
Cyber-mastiff (Arco-flagellant) 15
Acolyte with hotshot Lasgun 9 - desert nomad sniper
Acolyte with flak armour and storm bolter 11 - kitbash
Mystic 5 - kitbash, possibly xenos.
Thinking maybe arbites or bounty hunter themed. Any cool ideas or comments?
^Kinda feel that way myself!
Lights benefiting from phone flash, I think - but thanks. Lack of pic updates because of lack of substance to show, but the drum kit should be done in next couple of days.
As for list/fluff, I'm thinking Ordo Sepulturum, the plague hunters. I like the idea of having a dog that can sniff out disease that then destroys the host utterly, and the nomad as this scarred survivor of some awful daemon plague whose faith in the emprah saved him. The storm bolter acolyte will be done out with rebreather etc, and the mystic - dunno yet. Plague savant or something.
haha.. na... in all honestly it looks great! But i agree with Cam... a real chance to contrast the colours of the base and the flyer to really make it POP!
M0rdain wrote:Well it all sounds like it will be fun to model
Well the aim is to NOT have to remodel too much! I am aware that warbands could be more modelling fun than you could shake a stick at, but (a) I don't want too many distractions from the SoB and (b) I have some awesome inquisition models but I never get around to using them. Having said that, I might tweak one thing...

Damn crusty A crusty head will be atop the drums, fear not!
monkeytroll wrote:Plague savant? Like the sound of that, should be interesting....
I'm kinda moving away from that idea. I just don't think I can justify the pointlessness of the mystic when 5 pts is a big % of my force. The storm bolter dude will be the focus of the building efforts. However, 5 pts would be enough to give the Inquisitor either a hellrifle - my original plan - or a needler. Can't decide what's fluffier. I reckon he's ostensibly all about the preservation of the status quo, but secretly is looking for a legendary programmable plague to purge the imperium of non-human taints.
I hadn't thought of that I was veering towards Hellrifle as I suspect he's close to the Malleus for hunting Nurglings.
I have, however, come back to a fresh argument for another acolyte, or the mystic: Look Out, Sir! It's still a lot of points for effective 1 more wound, though.

Automatically Appended Next Post: While I'm happy with how these guys are coming along, I worry that the nomad is going to look out of place. He does, however, have a rebreather so I wonder about giving these 2 chaps ones also? Alternatively, I could just use a kasrkin for him instead?
Paint progression will be tomorrow night on Da Band, btw.
The kasrkin/stormtrooper has a rebreather aleady doesn't he? Albeit off his face..... Maybe add one to the FW guy, fits in with the anti-plague theme......
I was going to suggest adding a pack to the nomad - as a sniper type the cloak makes sense. But then thought that the pack would detract from the cloaked sniper feel.....
I think just some belt gubbins and some purity seals should tie him in nicely - inq retinues shouldn't be all matching anyway....
That's true about the kasrkin I'll add one to the fw dude. Agreed on the nomad:
And more pouches on the reverse of the belt also. The aim is to have them based tonight, primed tomorrow, and then painted early next week.
And if you're using the papyrus-wielding mystic he has some kind of vox-caster in place of a mouth that can double as a 'breather doesn't he? It all fits together perfectly

Thanks mate. I've done some low-key lighting but just not sure...

Spoiler:
Inquisitor Feyd Jaxsan, Ordo Sepulturum
Feyd Jaxsan was born to privilege and power, as only son to a planetary governor installed through loyal service to the Imperium, replacing the incompetent, indigent former Lord and his scions. Raised on a creed of duty and service, he was primed for a career in the Administratum. However, returning to his home after his off-world training, he began to notice subtle changes in the behaviour of his family and their followers. He uncovered, through rigorous research, evidence of a cult of personality that in truth centred on the first son of the former Lord, Makhelin, a chirugeon who had escaped the purges through his purported loyalty to the Emperor: in truth, he was a biomancer in thrall to the Plague Father. Having contacted the Imperium, Jaxsan saw that he had little time to act and so took it upon himself to expose Makhelin; he was captured and tortured by his minions, Jaxsan’s own father gleefully inflicting terrible pain upon him. Throughout, however, he remained steadfast in his faith and loyalty; before he could be offered up as vessel to the great daemon Mabrothrax, he was liberated by squad of Knights Carnelian in service to Inquisitor Darkhammer, and returned with them to his flagship just as the Exterminatus was enacted upon all he had ever known. Returned fully to health, though scarred and savaged in body, he pledged himself to the Inquisitorial creed.
Uncommonly, he is relatively affable in nature, and manages to walk the line between the Ordos with skill. His quest to hunt sources of plague at the point of origin means that he oftimes works with agents of the Ordo Malleus in sharing knowledge of Nurgle and his minions, but he is as likely to found sharing knowledge on alien pathogens with the Xenos, whilst with the Hereticus he shares a common respect. Philosophically, he is purportedly of a puritanical bent; Amalathians see him as one of their own, destroying diseases that could strike down humanity in its entirety, whilst Monodominants and Thorians alike have noted his interested in the possibility of programmable pathogens (and indeed it is here that he has most frequently worked alongside the Hereticus). However, he is fundamentally a Recongregator, carefully selecting those plagues to exterminate and those to allow run their course, the strongest surviving the tide of pestilience.
In his retinue, he keeps a Scrivener with limited psychic potential, named Merrick. This fanatically loyal aide faithfully records all of the plagues and pathogens encountered by Jaxsan and his team, and possesses encyclopaedic knowledge of those encountered by the Imperium and beyond.
Oskar, Jaxsan’s cyber-mastiff has been specifically genegineered to be able to detect a range of viral, bacterial and chaotic pathogens simply by scent. At the merest nod from Jaxsan, he erupts in a frenzy of teeth and mechano-dendrites, utterly destroying a host before disease can spread.
The doughty man-at-arms, Sgt. Andreas, is a former Guardsman from the Cydonian 9th whom Jaxsan has permanently seconded to his service. Gruff and uncompromising, there are those who could be mistaken in thinking he was the fanatical overlord and his master the cheerful aide-de-camp; indeed, it is a ruse that they have used on many an occasion. He prefers to get close to his foes, unleashing a hail of storm bolter fire before dispatching any survivors with his enscrolled chainsword, Monty.
The young Stephanos serves as assistant, aide and advisor to the Inquisitor. Marked at a young age on his homeworld Lacrimosa for joining the Weeping Angels Astartes, Jaxsan made special representation to the Chapter’s Master of Recruits after Oskar singled the boy out with an affection that should have utterly deleted through programming. As the years have passed, the boy has grown into a man who shares the zeal of his master – but, perhaps, holds an undercurrent of resentment fuelled by having seen the might of the Astartes upon the bloody fields of the Emperor’s glorious battles. Small wonder that his most prized possession is a millennia-old bolter of exquisite quality.
The nomad known only as Whisper is an enigma even to the other members of Jaxsan’s retinue. It is said that he is that rarest of men – a survivor of the ravages of the Zombie plague. Whatever the truth, this cowled and caped marksman has pledged his custom-built lasgun and life to the Inquisitor’s cause.

What did I learn from this? Quite a lot, actually.
I have no patience for painting lots of stuff. I kinda knew this anyway, but there we are

Never throw any bits away. Especially your kids broken toys! The ladder and all the rivetted strips on the base are from the boys' old stuff.

I'm looking forward to it, although I'm going to try not to get wrecked! The brewery, WEST, is one of my favourites, which is dangerous. I want enjoy the chat and grub. Not really that fussed about dancing girls, tbh. Really looking forward to playing Inquisition Wars on Wednesday, although I'll need to actually sit down and reread the rules, having only had a couple of games of 6th when it first released! *sigh* ah well. Hopefully it'll be fun, and not too beardy.

Thanks mate, I really love that process of seeing things through. Also, I'm aware that my style is pretty idiosyncratic!
So, my decision is to try to rescue and upgrade the Valkyrie; here's early work:
There's going to lots of gap filling, and I can't get at the bolters readily to drill out the barrels. Still, I reckon I can get a (re)prime on it pretty soon.
Only for colour blind orks, surely? my old scheme for the cydonian 9th was dark green, but based on the guys I've drafted for the Retinue it might be a more English Uniform green-Brown. I think though tbh I'll keep it in keeping with the avenger. One of my other friends, Mabrothrax, has offered me yet more kasrkin so there's a real chance of a proper Veteran detachment of Inquisitorial stormtroopers /guard allies. We'll see what the new codex brings...
Love the inquisition squad. The Inquisitor is my favorite. I think you should call the scrivener ' Ramos'. the list he's carrying is the things he has left to paint for WM by Adepticon.

On the subject of the cyber-mastiff, I'm swithering between counts-as Arco-Flagellant or DCA. It's I3 vs I6, A4 vs A2, CCWs/PWs, FNP vs Uncanny/5+. I think I & A feels fluffier as the DCA, Power Weapons don't really fit; I could go either way on FNP vs Uncanny/5+. Remember this 100 pt kill team on Inquisitorial retinues, and I'm really interested in which "feels" more appropriate as a counts-as. Your thoughts?
