That idea is super...hope you can pull it off...as I wanna see that!!!
The suplies probably are enough tho for a complete set of barricades to make a postapocalypic fort
And how convenient that your kids know when to drop a clock
As for the base itself, rather than use a base, I'm going to break a CD into 4 pieces (60mm radius), the idea being that (in theory) I can have it as a blown up tank (scatter terrain) or 4 separate junk piles / linear scatter terrain. I'm aiming to do all 4 and see which I'm happiest with, although tbh I already suspect that hull with Fleur will clinch it
Made it back into the garage yesterday, recovered storage box where prize pool is, so that's all boxed!
...
then I remembered I'd promised gits some fw brass so will have to unseal that one
So toys in post Monday, anyway.
Meanwhile, very excited for codex Ordo Bloggit! squee, and so forth. That's my weekend reading sorted. I shall try to do a mini review, if folk want, as my sob breakdown seemed popular. Speaking of which, the sob tanks will be my first task once up and running again - good for reference whilst junking!
Super excited to see what comes of all these neat little parts! When do we get to see your nails done up with those sweet nail tattoos? What are those horses?
thanks guys!
So here's a WIP of Da Junk Pile (iz not Junk, iz very ikspensiv):
It fulfills contest criteria - it's a pile of crap - but it tells a wee story too, a little grot junk shop of sorts (at least in his head) that's still just a piece of linear terrain
this will be again one of the scratchbuilds that simply look amazing all painted, heck even primed, but look currently so weird if you don´t share your actualy vision of the finished piece
Btw I rage-failed at Black Library, whose site is unrepentantly rubbish goatboy had an excellent review of the =][= Codex, it transpires that owning gk Codex provides me with all the necessary. Huzzah!
Thanks for all your support for my pile of crap! Slightly modified:
Much more added! Feels like a proper junk stall now. I think it works better as a bit of terrain. as well as a SoB objective (and I like the idea of a grot setting up shop in the middle of a battlefield). Temperature is above freezing (just) today so will try to get it primed.
Thank you all guys! Sorry posting is a bit sporadic, November is teacher hell month. Last night I just gave in and went to the pub with my buddies rather than game. Still, some saga planned for Saturday, might break out the Strathclyde Welsh. Junk pile is primed, and also on my desk just now, rather than sob, is an Xmas project of some classic gw Saracens that I'm going to do for a friend. Onwards!
Hey gang, just a quick base-touch. Played 2 games of SAGA using Strathclyde Welsh and absolutely trounced my Viking foe. They are terrifyingly effective and, much as I love my regular Welsh build, I may be sticking with the northern fury. Seriously, first game won the scenario without my opponent getting a turn; second, tabled my opponent in 3. Brutal. My only concern is that they may be too good - in danger of not being fun, though my opponent assured me she had good games and we rebuilt her forces to be more lethal. Once again, cannot recommend saga highly enough.
Hmm is there a fantasy version. I've got a hankering for a fantasy none GW ruleset with decent rules. Historical always runs into my work life/ hobby life separation filter. That and the fact I'd insist on an accurately modelled field system for each period, and the proper shaped pits. Fantasy I can mentally fudge far better......and I want Dragons and Trolls and gribbly monsters for my Vikings to fight.......
I thought I'd mention that I got my prize for winning graven's competition. Along with it was an old, incomplete project that graven worked on a while ago. Looks like I have a Gargantuan Squiggoth in my future! Cool figure (not the FW one but totally appropriate). Going to really enjoy fiddling with it and trying to bring it to life.
Thanks guys So work has been still crazy, but starts to wind down from tomorrow pm (final week).
Xmas sorted, mostly, everything wrapped apart from the wife and some saga ancients for a mate which I'm painting (pics to follow)
Hello all, Lots of pics coming, so feel free just to skip ahead to that!
Still here? Oh, right then.
Work is finally - finally - starting to wind down. Just regular marking now, with mock exams largely out of the way. Last week is always a bit of write-off, starting with a Xmas jumper day Friday (no uniform = loopy kids). It's not as disconcerting as onesie/pajama day, which a number of the senior girls used as an excuse to dress somewhat inappropriately.
In terms of hobby-ing, decided to do a set of minis up for a mate to start a Saga ancients warband. I found some old GW figs (possbily harradrim?), a spare horse, and off I went: The guy down the front is from Helldorado, the rest are the mystery models (apart from rohan pony). I know they're not stricly speaking Steppe peoples, but they have that general feel about them.
I went for muted notes on the robes and bright, silken shirts in the style of mongolian hordes. At this point, I realised that I'd missed the neck-gap
So, long story short, we have the Warlord:
Musician (they don't exist yet in Saga, but they almost certainly will)
Standard bearer
Hearthguard
And a not-very good pic of the Assassin:
Also, I found a Bretonnian lass on ebay, caked in paint, that was perfect as a SoB priest-ess. Stripped her, and this is where she is so far: I did wonder about adding some grimdarkery to her, but I like the model so much I decided to leave her as-is.
In other news: Bought most recent WD. Why, I do not know Self-aggrandising rubbish - an absolute content-free disgrace.
Need better storage for WIPs. Large drawers under my desk may be the answer.
Other than that, not a whole lot else to report. Need to try to rustle something up for another friend (wife of above recipient, she of the horde of Vikings no less), got to wrap the wife's goodies, but otherwise just sit back and try to enjoy fest-mass-time! Off to make stew and various cakeage before an afternoon of wine and pie
Excellent job on the cavalry graven. Really like the way you've handled them.
Your comments about school are funny. My kids' school has some of the same special days (though I think PJ day is only for the lower-school kids... probably with good reason, though I'm sure as a high-schooler I would have really "enjoyed" pajama day... *alright Gits, get your mind out of the gutter... you're a married man*).
Nice job, certainly fit the bill for mongolian types.
We had no-uniform day, and black-and-white day (as my teenage wardrobe cosisted entirely of black there was little difference for me ) when I was a nipper, but not PJ day. I'm sure as teenage boys we would have thoroughly enjoyed that - and as teenage boys would have probably had to spend the whole day sitting behind desk
I may have to open the cursed box of warhammer fantasy, I might have a few of those desert dogs somewhere. The paint job is great and the bretonnian lass .

I've always been fond of that model, and you really did her justice ! (Or do-ing it justice, as you seem to imply she's not over yet )
She's definitely not done. And she's so ready for 40k - she even has purity seals!
Worked out the last present - Viking longship. My good god, revell kits are hideous to assemble. Makes GW look tame.
So, made the hull, going to paint the whole thing and let her decide whether to finish it as in sail or ashore. She's not crazy on painting but this'll give her a nice centerpiece for her SAGA dudes. Pics anon.
Thanks for all the great feedback gang too! I've been trying to use thinner layers, hopefully it's paying off.
I am starscream to your Megatron: once again I have failed you
Actually, it's killing me to now leave it unfinished! but the point is to allow her to compete in whatever style she sees fit. Add rigging ? fine! leave it implied? no problem! add transfers? cool. paint shields? your call. Do nothing, leaving it as interesting terrain piece? sweet!
Ah well, no point fretting, they get their gifts tomorrow either way, assuming I find a big enough box! I'll let y'all know if they approve.

Paint the shields and hang them on the side. Minimal rigging.
That boat would be SO awesome for Wulrik the Wanderer and his entourage of seafaring Chaos Marauders!
As for the WD you picked up, feh. I cancelled my FLGS subscription last month because of the $10 for useless filler and advertising. Oh how I long for the days of substance and relevancy! Fat Bloke! Where art thou? Hast thou forsaken us?

Same here, but I couldn't remember who did WD before that and the Fat Bloke era was pretty decent.

Well...you almost had it... Ei..and you missed one "c" ...but in essence you're still right...sadly....I nowadaysake a most sour face when opening the letterbox...I think you have a fiendish fella at your local postoffice...
So, if I zoom in close enough that her whole face takes up my entire monitor, I can see a problem. Her forehead is the same color as the highlights on her hair, not the same color as the rest of her skin.
did you do insurance for the package?...then you get trackable data...as you said...you know it left the UK in mint condition... then we have to wait and sip our tea a bit more...there might still be a chance... these days the post is really not top notch... all that chrismas business will hamper the more important packages...

and if I may be extra picky as well...it could do with a bit of sci fi bitz to tie it in with the rest of your high tech army...
Ooooh, Longship - looks like the Gripping Beast Resin beauty... I've got me one of those out in the garage - still in it's original box, partially painted - hmm, one day I may even finish it
monkeytroll wrote:I'd say once you've done her base and added highlights to give that extra pop to the cloak, job's good 'un.
Zooming in I spy a little hair/cloak interface issue where her hair curls round the front of the cloak....
Maybe a very slight touch of red wash on the lips?
And if I'm being extra finnickity, the white fleurs lose themselves a little in the white dress.
Cheers mate. I see what you mean about interference! any thought ob the fleurs, colour wise? or just more contrast?
Gitsplitta wrote:So, if I zoom in close enough that her whole face takes up my entire monitor, I can see a problem. Her forehead is the same color as the highlights on her hair, not the same color as the rest of her skin.

Post - I'm livid, actually. Insured international post is hideous but at this point in time I'm considering it because dammit you ARE going to get stuff from me!
She's a bretonnian hero for sure, also comes mounted... maybe?!
Maybe a sidearm? I love the model, I did consider some extensive conversion but thought it better to keep out simple. Servo skull perhaps?
Ruglud wrote:Ooooh, Longship - looks like the Gripping Beast Resin beauty... I've got me one of those out in the garage - still in it's original box, partially painted - hmm, one day I may even finish it
Gripping beast's is lovely indeed. This can happily take a 4pt SAGA warband a-viking!
Pondering what to do after this - got one more rhino to build, with lovey =][= front plate from MissDee. Could wait to see what Satan brings I guess!
Thanks for the very specific feedback guys, it's a huge help! Hopefully, I am improving gradually.
cheers, graven
just realised what you changed...
the red is a very nice spotcolor...the rest is a bit hard for me to tell as I cant really say from the different contrast settings of both pic sessions... but I definitely like the last set... whether it is due the contrast or the new washes (?) it is getting where she needs to be... with the addition of the servo skull you have come finally to the finishing point...
And, oops, singing Picard made me forget the priestess...
Much improved in nearly all aspects. The one thing I'm not sure about is the fleurs again. Not sure on the red, can't put my finger on why, which is annoying as it was the fleurs I mentioned before.
Maybe it's that they're too red?
That's not really getting across what I mean..... They seem to contrast too strongly now.....maybe giving them some heavy pink highlights might bring them more in line with the rest.
Not sure I'm helping much here...
Hmm, all my other comments vanished?! in brief, I'm not 100 % on the gs cable that's holding up the priestess' servo skull. Also, comments v useful, and yes, I am a crazed tech priest.
Automatically Appended Next Post: And @ yggs hell yeah
I think maybe the Servo-skull cable is a bit thick - I used paperclips to make my servo-flock, or you could maybe try electrical copper wire?
Also, I'd have the priestess's skull looking the same way as she is - it'll blend in more with the direction of the model
I must congratulate you on the white areas on the models, especially the shading, which looks excellent!
the priestess looks stunning... gits remark made me blush ^^
i dunno if the servo skull is compared to the beautiful head of the dame a bit on the large size?...the cables i think just underline that effect for me?...

Ok, so quite a good haul this year. SoB Standard and Simulacrum bearers, Coteaz, GS (wife knows me so well!) and £50 voucher so that's a Dark Talon to convert into an Avenger! Mansions of Madness boardgame also from the missus - that's got some glorious minis, so expect some gribbly cthuloid goodness! Also some great graphics: Sam Noir, Batman Inc V1, and Sumo. Lots of other random junk too; basically, an awesome bag o' swag. Hope Satan () was good to y'all too,

also, a little side project: an objective, "The mail must get through!" inspired by the German post office's attempts to thwart my sending stuff to Vik:
I think I'll call the servo skull Bob.
Thanks mate. It's an empire master gunner with a FW cadian arm, a standard IG arm, and a mystery head! Having a big IG clear-out, but enjoying kitbashing from odds and ends. Have a Kasrkin officer in the works for my =][= Stormtroopers, but not quite ready to flash him about yet!
Also, the next League contest is up, run by Camkhieri (and I'm on the judging team), so get your fine selves over to the Accommodation challenge!
the head is of my favourite kits...the empire pistoliers... very steampunky... and I love that stance , I want some closer looks as to how you made this... wonderful theme...sad circumstances tho
It's the Master Engineer: http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catalog/productDetail.jsp?catId=cat440090a&prodId=prod1530034a A pretty wacky kit, even by GW's standards. Got it in my Santa loot from Morathi's Darkest Sin. I am livid with Deutschepost, as that was a large Vallejo paint set (amongst other things) that's gone to dust. Never, ever, ever trusting them again *sigh*. I'll get better pics up once he's been accessorized (needs a backpack methinks) and I take final shots of the others. I love the Priestess model, and I'm enjoying making priests so much that I've acquired a set of these: And these for conversion purposes also (big pics, hence spoiler block):
lots of potential there mate... I see these have great possibilities...
the way you stated it that it was a big paint package... I am more and more thinking that the package(s) might get stuck in customs...I have to see how to get info about that... I know that I had some trouble with bigger packages from dave due to customs too... these days this is a troublesome issue...especially if one sends liquid stuff too...
The thing is, I made sure it could get though UK mail (really tightened up the law on shipping paints here - but I have a mate who works in the local sorting office ), so I know it left the UK fine. Fingers, toes etc crossed!
I just tried to phone german customs...but guess what? service only Monday to Friday... could have thought about that earlier... tho...the first package of you is now more than two months late... so that one is still a mystery...
Truly, they are destroying stereotypes of Germanic efficiency.
Right, so finished Priest and -ess for impending arrival of next stage of SoB - 2014 and the flyers! I appreciate I need to also get paint done on tanks too though I've also reorganised and tidied my bits boxes, so I now know where stuff is (although I did have a Bono moment - I still couldn't find what I was looking for - while hunting for the =I= tank front from Dee). The great guard offload progresses, shunting tanks away tomorrow (to a GW staffer, haha) to continue to trim down the Ordo.
Anyway, pictures!
Priest
I like how this guy's come together from oddments.
Priestess
The evil little cherub is from the top of a chaos sorcerer's staff iirc.
Here you can maybe sees the bionic eye? What you can't really make out, alas, is the tiny tiny tiny fleur de lys I sculpted onto the stomach of the little beast. If you zoom in below his right hand, maybe.
And her glorious locks, just for Vik.
Speaking of Vik, a better view of the postman, as requested:
I might lose Bob, and add more scenic elements. Here he is with pack instead:
Parts wise it's just the engineer, pistolier head, fw brass over the fw arm carrying ammo case, sergeant's pistol arm. Nothing terribly swish. I cut the cannonball off his foot, too.
That would involve paying money, as opposed to acquiring them from buddies who are happy to trade Thanks for the nod though I have a great FLGS/drug pedlar in the form of Static Games.
thanks for the additional eyecandy graven!... I think a backpack would greatly add to the look...but I am not feeling the big one... how about that medic one in the IG sets? together maybe with a bedroll?
also... I still like the servo skull idea... keep´m^^
@ Cam: the halfway decent ones are done with my Fuji x20 which is bloody lovely, although I should throw a proper light box together. The dodgy ones are phone (xperia sp)!

So what are my P&M plans for 2014?
Well, I nearly managed my 2013 resolution - finish my GKs - I have a unit PAGK left, somewhere. The 2014 mission is Ordo Hereticus, obviously. I really love them, and I'm dead excited at adding some aerial support. There's a Valky in the works too, just now, but that's going to get done side-by-side with the Avenger conversion to ensure a common aesthetic.
Here it is in the form I got from the lovely Alfndrate:
I'd like to make a start on the Ordo Xenos - ie my marines - but I'm a realist also, I think they're ultimately destined for the boys (cos kids like the ubermensch).
Finish my GKs. (very close)
Finish the extra bits I bought for my SWs. (should go quickly)
Finish my grot tanks & squiggoths.
Do at least one squad of termies & a LR for my MW and complete my first post-crusade squad.
whenever I think of such stuff like new years resolutions I start cold sweating...(like I get to think about the important things that are due...:( )
but in terms of hobby...I really should keep away from scratch building and start with my Victoria lamb stuff... I have at least two platoons waiting to get the odd lick of paint...really...these should be my duty......
happy new year...
by the way... that catapult looks really nice...
and the valk screams from what I see for a gallon of simple green?...tho I might be due for a set of glasses^^
Now the question is, do I simply run it as counts-as an Avenger or get chopping?

The Valk's going to get trimmed, filled, filed, and very finely airbrushed. I'm not going to risk the big green bath...
The catapult's very cool, I aim to terrorize with it.
Seriously, thoughts on the Dark Talon? It's a question of whether to move the engines and stretch the wings. Almost certainly going to do the tail, and the weapon loadout's a doddle.
I think the avenger is more an IG/ Inq kinda fighter, whereas the talon is strictly marine?...if that be the case I would go the extra mile and convert it towards looking like an avenger... I think it wont be that hard a number to convert it accordingly...?...
{The catapult's very cool, I aim to terrorize with it.} LOL...love that sentence!!!
Pretty much. Same nose canon, twin las, able to take bombs, pintle skyfire stubber.
@gits - check your email...
The problem is the engine position and the wing shape on the avenger. Nasty to convert from a Dark Talon.
I think you could do that conversion graven. Use the existing wings to come down into the engines, then go buy some cheap plastic WWII aircraft model and use the with tips for the extensions out from the engines.
I would need to see the parts of both sets... either you stick with the engine place...or you maybe get away with using the wings and engines in a simple sideways swap...
or you let it all be as is and just get that dogfighter type of wing with a lil plasticcard help...
My new years resolution is to drink more wine and less cider. Cos its classier. But I suppose also it might be nice to assemble and paint that giant of avalon you sent me.
I have no advice on flyers, they are an unknown for me. I'm afraid of heights.

Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh...and happ new year ol chum
Apparently it's part of a deathstrike missile. it's pretty much identical size wise to a valkyrie (or avenger) engine though. I'll mock up one wing and we'll see...
Automatically Appended Next Post: Engines cut off the hull. Immolator sister added as pilot. Pintel stubber added top side. Base fin cut off.
Wings: Storm raven wing added. Deathstrike with trimmed intake and exhaust. Wings braced with landspeeder doors and wing missile backing. Green plastruct braced with CoD buttress.
Probably need to stretch the nose slightly? Have to work out how to do the H shaped tail, too.
Basically a monstrous project. But not bad for a morning's work eh?
for connecting the green with the rest I think you should use the very thinnest plastic card you have at hand... on both sides... once riveted it will blend in
one question tho...the SM flyer and the COD parts all mimic the eagle in parts... any chance you could shape the green stuff you used for the wings to look a bit like an eagle? it is still a bit blocky looking and once you´ve solved that it will be a perfect thing!
I shall indeed Vik! The green plastruct is the frame, if you like - detailing is to be overlayed still. Also there will be 7 small circles along the leading edge of each wing (4+3) as that's part of the original's aesthetic.
Personally I think the straight line doesn't work right of bat I can't think of an aircraft with a dead straight wing it would need aerofoiling for a start. Personally I'd say cutting the central plate down so it meets the engine just in from the nacelle would do a world of good.
To be honest I feel it would clutter it up to much. To improve the shape of the wing I'd cut it back and then take a file to the edge to at least take the straight 90* of the edge of the wing.
I'm digging where this is headed. glad you moved the pintle bolter down, it was looking too high up there. I think if you save the angel wings for decorative attachment to the tail section later it will look much better as well. I'd skip the rhino top hatches on the green part, maybe add another layer of plastic card on the green spots in areas to break up the large flat. Or to emphasize where the wing guns are at you could add a strip of pc to those locations going back, then a piece connecting them together so the ammo can travel from the hopper to the guns.
I am glad you didn´t went for the hatches... where would have been the point of these? the fleur de lils looks very good there! the flat one even better!
Thanks chaps! The question remains, do they need more detailing along the top surface of the green section, or will the "pistons" (plus a small gap fill) suffice?
I think yes... the green plastic is still a bit bland...maybe this effect will cease if you prime it? but until then I think some cables or something else might be helpful...
You want something like the panel-lines on the kit parts. As cutting grooves is very difficult (unless you have the right tool), cables will do the job.
Don't get carried away though, stick to the same level as the lines on the other pieces.
Yeah, I'm inclined to agree - I'm thinking a rectangle (well, ish) either side of the thanks so much for all the help and encouragement! Great to have a big project to re-kick-start my P&M.

Oh one question.... is that "greenstuff" panels?! Never seen it used like that before..... looks good!
Thanks mucker! The panels are FoW bases (also used for SAGA) - sturdy green rectangular styrene in a range of sizes. Very handy for modelling projects, these are the last couple left over from scratchbuilding a Mars-Pattern Baneblade a few years back (which is what got me back into the hobby...)
Actually imperial navy craft seem pretty rivet-free. Have they discovered the heresy that is... welding?!
On another note, I'm going to be offloading some more stuff - Necro, 54mm =][=, some classic metal khorne - if any of that tickles your party's, pm me before it goes out on offer to the masses, and I'll give you more details.
I've taken the sob icons off the wings for now, might get new panels topside tonight but only managed 3 hrs sleep (back 2 skool )

Thanks mate. Clearly you've got brain freeze nah it's just my meandering WIPs. Next is an L-shaped piece, pretty obviously. However, 2 pints of bitter are not conducive to using a craft knife (and I've already stapled my left index finger today...)
Automatically Appended Next Post: Btw, does anyone have one of these vents?
I think it's from Valkyrie kit, but I may be wrong, I'll give you gold. Or at least manly hugs with back-slapping and chest thumping.
I thought as much. I must have one somewhere, just buggered if I can find it! thanks for all the positives chaps, next step is to start filling the nose gaps and maybe start on the tail!
Thanks for all the great comments guys! Means a lot and I try to live up to your high expectations of me.
Brief rant: I ordered another Valk tail from bitsandkits before the new year. It still hasn't come.
This is why I stopped using them *sigh*
Anyway. I'm debating what to do along the top and side gaps of the engines. Any suggestions? just plain styrene? or something fancyshmancy? And should I used the proposed small strut between the upper wing surfaces and the engine (chimera plough pistons)?
I think it's a trick of the photo perspective, but the tail looks too short at the moment?? Can you a take shot from the side with a mock up of your plans?

Wings have come along great though...
Cheers about wings. I think what you're seeing is that the tail IS too short; however my valk bits came from bitsandkits today so hopefully that can be resolved. Job for tomorrow (assuming hangover is not monstrous - 8 hrs of our lovely drunken neighbour friends... oh my.

there's nothing copious amounts of glue and plastic card can't fix. I will hold judgement on the tail ontology the extensions come in, too short right now, but like the concept.
Yes boss!
Tail fins: The problem being this is a storm raven tail, and getting another's going to be tricky!
And tail extension:

Automatically Appended Next Post: I realise it's slightly tricky to visualise still. I'm much happier with it, though. Back to working on engines whilst I try to source another raven tail!
Isn't it kind of short when compared to the shot of the real thing? I'm just thinking it might not be too problematic to extend the back of the body to elongate the model.
I think it's just that the wings are so wide that the tail looks short in comparison.
You could probably mount the horizontal section of the tail a little further back (so it's half off the back of the tail of the body). That could gain you a free cm and a bit. Might just swing the balance.
The avenger looks great. Love that you gave us progress pictures. I always say I am going to do that when I do my conversions, but I end up getting swept up with all the building and forgetting to do it.
Only suggestion I would make is to extend the nose a bit and based on the pictures you had, I think the back vertical fins were a bit too big. Other than that great work.

That's really great of you to say. I have a possible idea for extending the nose a wee bit, not sure. Thinking a cowl over the main cannon, possibly? The fins will I hope seem balanced once the whole thing comes together.
Gitsplitta wrote:I just love it when you're in a building frenzy.
Why thank you somewhat on hiatus as I'm waiting for bits. Meantime, I'm working on ideas for converting my menoth choir to psykers for my =][=.
Camkierhi wrote:I too like what I am seeing, great work.
Glad you like on both counts. Further psyker conversion thoughts:
I actually wonder whether they''ll need any more grimdarking than that; they do have a scroll case on the back, which I could run a strip of cable from, I suppose. Maybe a purity seal? I'd thought about extending the tip of the cross horizontally to make it more of an =][= logo over all. Also, do they need a gs eye logo somewhere? Having said all that, I love the sheer simplicity of the conversion! Quick conversions, in this quirky world of massive avenger project, have their appeal I was also considering what to do with my baneblade, of all things. I've sold off much of my guard, although I still have all my metal Kasrkin to make stormtroopers with. SoB's only superheavy is the marauder, so a mobile chapel of doom isn't really an option :( Maybe I should just continue with the sell off. Actually tempted even to shift my marines, nos or otherwise.
Sorry, rambling today. The Scots have a word: scunnered. Fed up to the back teeth, basically. Work is frustrating, and family (extended, that is) aren't much better.
I think actually some painting might be in order, soon. Another Mandoll update today is unlikely though as I'm taking the kids to a Lego exhibition today might put some shots of that up.
Lego exhibition sounds intriguing.
http://mobileframezero.com/mfz/ Might be worth a look for you and the boys Lego Mecha rules. Haven't tried them myself found them the last day I was at my parents else I'd have given in and made a few frames.
To me the Choir boy is still slightly to Menite I'd be tempted to cut the Menofix of and replace it with an Aquila or a techno symbol or to be honest a total weapon swap for that arm. I would certainly consider replacing Menite with Imperial Iconography where I can. The models are actually fairly grim dark already so emphasising the Imperial would be more important. Personally I'd go for an allied cathedral of doom tank with the Baneblade and stuff the rules.
Really cool looking hard line warband here. The new Daughter of Flame character solo with the double handed sword would go in well it' something I've got my eye on.
Gitsplitta wrote:Nice GS work, those ribbed pipes are really cool!
Thanks man, fun and games with my tube tool!

There was other great stuff too, but I was juggling my kids. Honestly, messed up my priorities there.
Drazuul wrote:Some very nice work here, man! I'm loving the Ordo Xenos Inquisitor! But are you going to be keeping the rounded edge bases?...They scream Warmachine!
Thanks, and welcome! And, yeah, but I just prefer ds bases. Ah well.

I'd considered daughters for repentia maybe, that solo is great.
Camkierhi wrote:Looking great, can't wait to see you lick some paint on that crowd.
Funny guy re: paint! So unusual modeling tonight. I had to mend my glasses Milliput and Vallejo bronze. A result!
Dr H wrote:Nice detail work on the engines. Looking good.
Thanks mate. I think I need a little bit of gs work on the rim of the jet intake still, but otherwise I'm just about ready to reattach this wing and call it done; then, on to other engine!
Gitsplitta wrote:Very nice graven. Where did you get your tube tool?
Mrs Graven zinge industries iirc. It's proven invaluable, I have to say!
Rather annoyingly, I have misplaced a large counts-as exorcist tube so that's on hiatus momentarily. However, am going to side track myself by adding some details to my valk next. I'm wondering whether to keep or offload my carefully horded kasrkin, as I'm focusing pretty exclusively on Gks and SoB. Still debating my SM, too... argh. Khorne/csm going next, regardless.
Frustratingly, had a primer disaster on my Simulacra born of cold weather (crackling and peeling), hopefully I can salvage. Really need to get my paint head back on!
hey graven...I didn´t really remember ever seeing so much sculpting work from you...and even such good and crisp looking work... wow! the engines are very good filled !
and your work on the psyker squad yet again wets my appetite for warmachine stuff...
oh...and everytime something is loose on the glasses of my wife we just go back to the glasses shop... they fix and repair everything on the spot...or as soon as possible while it is still in one piece...for zero dinero...your shops don´t offer that kind of service?...
well...my wife has quite frail built glasses ... so we happen to have to go to the shop quite often... and her current pair of glasses is now more than around four or five years old...... hmmm....and there I thought you fellas all had the better service culture...
and good idea about the organ sound...I have a ruined organ of the playmobil Christmas calendar set...that would be a nice and totally non-aerodynamic addition...

Cheers mate, glad you approve your comments are very kind. It's a while since I've taken on a proper project. As our local GW guys noted to the wife "He uses a lot of gs, doesn't he?"
War machine has amazing toys but it's essentially a ccg with models. Very cool, very combo based, kinda makes 40k look reasonable
And my glasses have undergone many stop-gap repairs but this was total destruction
dsteingass wrote:I can't help but imagine that thing would make pipe organ sounds as it flies
@Vik usually only within the first year of ownign a pair of glasses, and then only usually at boutique-like glasses shops in the US.
I shall call it Toot.
Have a look at the Vessel of Judgement. now that's a mighty organ
