Actually, re-reading your description I'm tending towards DCA....arco-flag would have the PW right? Uncanny means nothing to me One of those new-fangledf things they brought in since RT right
22619
Post by: inmygravenimage
Uncanny is 5++, a really good fit - and we came to the general agreement that DCA was more apt (Power Claws!).
Didn't help mind you, still got eaten by genestealers
So yeah, it was great fun. First scenario played a co- op game, both retinue back to back, fighting off half a dozen stealers each - you controlled your own retinue and the stealers attacking your "teammate". I was paired with the most experienced/other older player, which was great as he kept me right on the rules. His Xenos warband was very cool, with a power armoured warrior that fought off most of the stealers and an Arco that got almost immediately shredded my lot did well: puppy rolled abysmally to wound and got eaten whilst the rest of the team sniped away, 3 taken out by the Apprentice alone! We won our game, with lowest wounds taken by my lot so placing us top of the table! Huzzah!

On to game 2...
This split the top 3 (old uns) and bottom 4 (2 younger players and 2 store staff - coincidence? ) hunting treacherous planetary governor and his doppelgangers. You could shoot other players' models, with wounds causing them to lose 2" move in next turn (suppressive fire, essentially). This led to much chasing around the tables, although my Apprentice took out a doppelganger with the first shot of the game (which turned out to be the target!) In the other game, hellrifles were used to great effect - range over 18" is scary in 4x4 boards.
Anyway, my luck meant that I came out with full vps in both game - Winning the night overall! Shocking!
!
Thanks
Thanks gits! Ninjad Me there! I had a blast, great fun, and when the rules go up for general play I shall share - buckets of fun!
and just for you...

I really did, and I was ridiculously chuffed to do so well. It's interesting because it was entirely about tactics (well, and a little luck). It really makes me want to play kill team, and more 40k generally.

So this is where the retinue are hiding out! The Interrogator is my favourite, love the bolter. I think I might have to steal this idea.
The storm bolter on the serg actually fits now he is painted, the wires make me think its some sort of suspensor unit.
The drab browns really work and the dash of red on the Inquisitor's jacket lining gives it a little pop.

Yeah, very cool indeed. They also do treadplate. I'm going to build the back right up with this stuff around the stem as a sealed box essentially, with a battlewagon piece for the roof. Looks pretty cool man, I personally would have limited the colours even more, you've got the great looking grey armor, a green hammer, white tabbard, purple cloak and yellow (looks yellow to me) and a bone cloak.
I think having the three colors across the bottom of the model (green white purple) makes the bottom half a bit to busy, even continuing the white of the tabbard for the inside of the cloak might help that out a bit.
22619
Post by: inmygravenimage
Cheers for the C&C amigo! Hmm, I see what you mean. Let's see where it is after inks/washes and highlights, and work from there. What you're seeing as yellow is the khaki, I think. I might take the tabard to purple rather than the lining to white (an easier "fix"), maybe? Meantime, exorcist is built: More gs filling than I care to think about, but off to get primed today, hopefully.

The exorcist looks great, as for Coteaz, he looks really good too.
I think you need to make the psyber eagle a bit darker though, it looks very yellow, and the white tabard, if youwant to keep it whte, then maybe a bit mre shading and give it some purple detailig to tie it i to the cloak, either that or go for a deep red or same purple as the cloak?

Took your advice, this week's about the family. Being descended upon by friends tonight and lots more to come. Had a fantastic wedding on Saturday, very geeky, the best man's speech was done in the style of The Wizard of Firetop Mountain. Raise your glasses, turn to paragraph 400...

My helpful brother-in-law, who works for Halfords (car maintenance store, colonials), scored me some lengths of this:
and black primer (as recommended by weety).
Also, worked on some odds and ends:
Started robes of the bearers, other xenos menite, a weapon swap sob, and rebuilt my dialogus. So, some progress

Cool I've always felt the Vultures in the Jungle Book shows Disney's unconscious Imperialist leanings and racial hatred of Scousers. Was it really the Beatles doing the voice over? The Spyrers an interesting choice for a heavy bolter but maybe in another warband as you might not want to imply both are servitors.

Well, aside from the fact that they are gloriously customisable as physical builds, you can tailor them pretty heavily to your needs. Coteaz lets you take them as troops. Squads are 3-12 in whatever mix you require. Basic acolytes can be tricked out with bolters, storm bolters or hotshots, and 3 can have special weapons as required. You also get cc brutality with DCA, Arco-flagellants and crusaders, plus heavy weapons on servitors dirt cheap or on jokaero for more (but flexible - can swap in game).
Oh, and full range of transports available, too
26790
Post by: Gitsplitta
Nice. I can see why they were so popular at Adepticon.
17738
Post by: Briancj
The main reason they were popular is that they were an ultra-cheap (around 50 points) add on to almost ANY army (thanks to the rules) that allowed you to take an Inq and a single servo skull, to really screw up opponent's ability to infiltrate and scout, as well as making your own deep strike and blast templates more accurate.

^ Yup, that too I am very fond of them.
Speaking sorta which, I mentioned an idea for an ogryn servitor, yes?

Well, I do use milliput when I have to really bulk stuff out (eg gaps in sides of exorcist) but I hate sculpting it. There will be layers of gs musculature on this guy and also it's going to be stretched at connection points where it's been grafted into the flesh. Thanks for kind words

Don't be daft I really appreciate it! Having done a bit more research it turns out DW often use red as a spot colour on the weapons and gold on details so will take that on board. Likewise, some lights on the borgy ones might not go amiss.

Well, Sepulturum, yes; hence the reason I'm using standard, rather than lipped, bases. Next league game is a week on Weds; currently riding high atop the league, so fingers crossed. I have made a couple of suggestions to the store manager about rules tweaks which may or may not be implemented. The Xenos squad are painted for a mate so he can join; the ogryn is just a pleasant distraction. Having said that, I'm planning on generally putting together a few teams for casual play with friends, one of which the ogryn is for (Ordo Malleus =][= in Terminator Armour, 3x Heavy Bolter Servitor, Mystic).

Yes, phone pics are rubbish.
Oh, how I hate checks...

I hate freehand too...
Simples!
So there we are.
Next up, shockingly, is playing some more 40k - =][= wars on Weds, assuming Mrs G can put up with me being out 2 nights on the trot (Tuesday being my regular gaming night, and tis rpg week, as well as giving the Ordo Borgy squad to its recipient).
Then, back to this and the SoB, as well as gradually building the Ordo Malleus team with the Ogryn Servitor and possibly an Ordo Astartes/Hereticus squad for another friend (he can bloomin' paint them himself, used to be part of the 'Eavy Metal team). Determined to at least get the Simulacra bearers and ideally Celestine done by my birthday (end of June) as that's the general rule with Mrs G (I get my twice-yearly toys from her only if I paint them on time!). Praying to elder gods for a killer death bot.
In unrelated news, have now tried Kobe beef (I fail to see the point in cows that have been allowed to casually chat to Mozart), made Bacon and Eggs cupcakes (wicked tasty), and finally watched excellent documentary about Frank Quietly (still on iPlayer, iirc).
All of which is to avoid the fact that I've been awake since 420am stressed about the seniors final English exams today (they were fine, as it happens) and now the inevitable hell of marking.
Still, keeps me in crack (of the plastic variety, that is).

I know that's always the accusation with that bit but see above. It's better than the original: So, my friend really liked his Ordo Xenos warband, and I'm going to build his wife an Ordo Hereticus version (she likes painting) around a "burn them!" design. Should be fun. Also, there will be an Ordo Astartes warband for one of my other friends, so that we have a little set of =][= warbands to play with (although that may be derived from the Terminator =][=). WIPs anon!

It is the mascot of the Andrex toilet roll brand, you should look it up
Looking great Graven... I am guessing that if blowig your nose in the tissue doesnt get rid of your blocked nose then the storm bolter on the drone should clear the problem right up

I Feel I've reached that very special place, where your blog takes on a life of its own thanks to the crazy, wonderful, batshiz mental people around you. I have attained... Nerdvana!
So in response:
Inquisitor Andrex:
And new retinue members!
Acolyte Muon:
Just a gorgeous old spryer. Don't think I'm even going to modify her at all. There will also be another, but it's getting stripped still.
And an attempt at something really off the wall:
I'll need to get shot of the back so you can see his servo skull, tooo. This is the squad's mystic. No, not squat mystic, don't be ridiculous...
Other stuff: life is OK, very up and down, hence erratic posting, should be a bit less so in about a week.
Adios,

Well Ordo Astartes police the SM, and that could be pretty radical.
Solar_lion wrote:Very graven.. I like the scaven converted guy. Seems very serious!
I also experimented with giving him a scout sniper rifle. If I track down another body I might do a whole team!

Yup, more the Ordo bog-it.

Simulacrae looking good there - is one converted or are they standard GW '2 slightly differing models from the same base to try and fool you' models?

er... I think being straight forward is a skill...and something that could be associated towards being honest quite close...seems that would have been a lions den and maybe (if it weren't for the money to be gained there) you will be better off without that lot?...sheesh... what did they expect you to be in an interview... this hypocrisy is awful...people always brag around that they are in favour for truth and honesty but if they get it they get all posh and want to have harmony not disturbed...

That was the horrible miscast ones, glad it's not too obvious. Various things. Some further pips : And settled on my Ordo Astartes scheme: Shame that this was my last toilet roll servitor, as the next league contest is toilet facilities! (-=]_=- Comp Round 10! http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/595454.page) I have a number of ideas. One is very complex, cool as, but essentially a diorama not playable terrain, involving orks. One is a rather more mundane twist on it for a larger piece of urban (ish) scenery that would be playable. Then there's a kind of monstrous.daemonic toilet maw idea. Really not sure, thoughts? Little guy is poorly again, ended up at hospital last night with breathing difficulties. Bit Scary but basically ok. Once again I have nothing bit gratitude to out public health services Hey ho, Graven

Chimmy and Exorcist coming on nicely, and I like the scheme for the Inq - purple and gold, hmm, you're sure these aren't slaaneshi sleeper cells?

Thanks chaps. Vik - sad times buddy.
Wee guy is getting there, let's just hope it doesn't turn out to be asthma.
One cool thing happened - was getting stuff for wife for cakes from hobbycraft, who are continuing to not-quite shut down.their gw section... Found new SM codex for 7.99 - score!

There's no discounting dumb luck... I make a living at it (just as the wife).

Cheers. It's always worth a punt.
Okay, settled on my basic idea for the league contest.
Good idea/bad idea?
24297
Post by: Viktor von Domm
whut???....how would this supposed to look???
as for asthma... well...there is so many things you could do to cope with it... sure... it is a lifetime burden...but ...it can be managed...
I think if I had such a shop where you could get stuff for cakes in the closer distance... then I'd be all over these cake columns you get for levelled cakes...they´re so amazing Greek looking...
and no wonder that this shop is in the process of shutting down... chucking out codices for such a price is the essence of self owning^^
