We are trying to grow a large Infinity community here on Dakka, the largest wargaming forum available. Below are a list of topics and plans of action to grow the community and eventually earn our own sub-forum.
I will keep this OP updated so it check it often and help out wherever you can! Thank you!

Noir wrote:P.S. A subforum for Infinity would be nice too.
Completely agree.
More than 20 threads in the frontpage of this Sub-forum are about Infinity. This "Malifaux, Infinity and other games" is becoming "Infinity and other games". I think it's time for an INFINITY subforum.
There is an obvious growing community here, and people is usually asking questions that this ofurm has answered before. Veteran gamers can introduce new gamers properly and even sticky some basic threads to share the gaming basics.
Some people even prefer Dakka to the official forums because here the news, the answers, the main useful stuff comes directly, inestad of navigate a huge official forum full of noise.
I will collaborate helping new players in a Infinity sub-forum, for sure.
What I'm saying is that someone else needs to request it, and then if there's enough support for it... Shazam!
There is NO DOUBT that we should have a separate INFINITY forum for many reasons:
1) Awesome miniatures
2) Awesome rules
3) Awesome company that listens to and actively supports the community and is one of the few that 'deserves' as much support as possible to help companies that are 'doing it right'!
But it isn't up to me, apparently!
Someone lead the charge in the Nuts and Bolts forum!
Great work guys, i've updated the OP and the name of the thread. I'm too new to the game to add anything to the list at this stage but i'll throw CB in:
CB - Corvus Belli
Any of you vets want to make in additions or alterations before we submit it the list to the Glossary suggestion thread?
Automatically Appended Next Post: I may also have alphabetised the list...
Changes made, i've spotted a few gaps myself now. If i have the time i'll go through the rulebooks and pick them all out, if someone else would like to do that, that would be good too.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Here is a question that i'd like to throw into the mix:
What can we do, as Dakka's Infinity community, to increase activity and grow this part of the forum?
A competition? We might be able to advertise it on the Infinity website.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Sharpened up the OP.
Yeh, that's probably the easiest thing. We could add a requirement for a short amount of fluff to go with the model but it might over complicate it. I just like fluff!
We could possibly arrange a prize but i'm not sure how.
Maybe restrict the competition to LI or HI or TAGs or something?
In any case, I think in light of the effort some of the guys here want to make in terms of getting a good Infinity community going here, how about we start some kind of initiative?
How about making an advert for use in our sigs, directing to the 'Malifaux, Infinity & Other Skirmish Games' section of the forum? It might be effective if it is advertised here, and also through those of us who post on other forums to try and bring traffic here?
I think the signature is an amazing idea. How about a particular slogan that people can put on their own signature?
For instance id like something quite slim but someone else might want something that takes up the entire signature space. A slogan would tie them all together maybe?
How about a play on the "It's not your list it's you!" slogan?
When is Adepticon? I don't mind waiting, it would give us more time to advertise and set it up.
@Pacific - Do you think CB would be interested in putting up a prize? Maybe Lego and Yak would be more likely to help out? Also if we are putting a simple model up for a prize a few of us could just chip in and buy it.
Awesome, i'm totally up for organising this. What dates would be best for a competition like this?
Edit: Didn't see your post Alpharius. Would you like to organise this together? It would be great to get a MOD on the team considering the red tape that might be involved. Particularly it would be good to have your name against this.
Automatically Appended Next Post: OP updated.
Alpharius if you and i want to organise it we probably shouldn't be allowed to enter. What do you think? If it's just the MOD stuff you might be okay, i don't mind sitting out if i'm organising.
I'll get on to CB tomorrow.
Shall i present the Glossary list as it is and put a line through what is there? That means new additions can still go onto the list to be added in a second wave.
Some other ideas that I was kicking around in my head last night.
1) Would Infinity (and other game system) related Rankings be of interest? I'm sure we could build up some based on the unit types.
2) A thread in here linking to the Infinity P&M blogs would be good as they tend to sink very quickly and get lost.
3) More after-action reports to say how effective you felt your list went against your opponents as full on battle reports seem to be rather tricksy with all the actions going on.
4) New lists/requests for help with a list should probably be split out. Currently some of the infinity threads are no longer about the original topic and would have been better as new threads.
5) When the new releases come out each month, would it be good to have a thread where people can suggest lists that would utilise this month's releases nicely? This would give us a new, fairly active thread, each month as a spin-off from the N&R and give people the chance to learn more about creating effective lists for when we do get a separate section.
5.5) It might be interesting to try and work with an online reseller to create "List of the month" deals designed to showcase one of the new releases? For example there was quite a lot of interest in lists featuring the Jotum when it was announced.
6) Is it worth creating a set of Infinity related user icons, or an overlay that people can put onto their icon? Tenuous I know, but at least it helps spread the Infinity love a bit and might get people looking to see what the images are of
I also love the idea of a painting competition. I don't think it even needs to be an official thing with prizes. Maybe just a little Infinity painting icon to stick in your footer and bragging rights, much like the Pimp my wizard competitions. Having said that, prizes or something from CB might tempt some of the official forum bodies over to join in.
I will try and poke my local players to join Dakka too
LostSoulCaseysLaw wrote:@Pacific - Do you think CB would be interested in putting up a prize? Maybe Lego and Yak would be more likely to help out? Also if we are putting a simple model up for a prize a few of us could just chip in and buy it.
OK well regarding contacting CB for prize support, does anyone know any posters over on the official forum who are linked to CB?
I think it might be an idea to have all of the ideas for this sub-forum ready before we start the competition (bearing in mind it will probably pull in some new players?) So perhaps end of April will work out perfectly.
I know Legoburner has said no to the specific Infinity sub-forum, but how about stickies? Endtransmission has made some great points about things we could include; A link to blogs (as they do tend to disappear off the front page of the P&M section within 30 minutes!), perhaps a 'New to Infinity? Click here' thread, with the first post as a compilation of useful guides and links?

How about a play on the "It's not your list it's you!" slogan?
How about 2 signature options, one small one big? One could be a simple slogan, I don't know something like "Infinity, the game where it is always your turn! Come join the community on Dakka (link)", or something similar? I think something small but punchy is best. Also, for a second bigger option you could have slogan followed by an animated GiF, similar to the one I have below, which could link directly to the sub-forum.
K. I'm going to start a new thread for people to add links to the various P&M blogs in an attempt to get things rolling a bit more.
One other thing I thought of. There are currently no Infinity entries in the Articles section. Some tactica articles and entries into the Army Profiles would be a great way to showcase what people have
Alpharius wrote:I'm more than happy to help out - once we come up with a consensus in terms of start date, type of figure, etc. we'll see what we can do!
Awesome, i'll update the OP and keep the questions fresh.

Awesome ideas, dude!
1) Brilliant! We should have one for each faction and maybe Mercs too. Maybe even Sectorials!
2) Another great idea and nice one on putting it into action.
3) Sounds like a good idea. It probably requires someone to lead the way with a simple and concise format. Any takers?
4) Good point, if a thread starts to take on a new topic we should politely ask for the person to start a new thread. It's for the good of the community after all.
5) Cool idea, does someone want to take on the job or should we leave it to whoever gets there first?
5.5) I know a reseller from the Official Forum who lives near me and opens up all the Infinity boxes and clams to sell individual models. I'm sure he'd love the trade and would be happy to get involved. When we are certain about going down that road i don't mind getting in touch with him.
6) That could work, don't think i would use it but it might be something other people would want. We need a photoshop wizzkid.
Pacific wrote:OK well regarding contacting CB for prize support, does anyone know any posters over on the official forum who are linked to CB?
Sadly not. Alpharius recently emailed the customer support and got a very helpful response, maybe we could start there?
Pacific wrote:I think it might be an idea to have all of the ideas for this sub-forum ready before we start the competition (bearing in mind it will probably pull in some new players?) So perhaps end of April will work out perfectly.
Yeh i agree, that gives us a month to deal with all the suggestions in this thread, we should be ready to announce by then. We could have the hand in date in mid May?

Stickies is an awesome idea, we should start a list of which threads to ask to be stickied. I'll put it in the OP. 'New to Infinity' would be a very useful thread i'm sure!

That sounds like a good idea, again we need someone who is very talented with photoshop. Any suggestions?

We should add that to the 'New to Infinity?' resources thread when we make it.
Okay i'm off to update the OP!
Automatically Appended Next Post: Submitted the Glossary we have collected so far, keep adding to it for the second wave.
Submitted for two threads to be stickied, more to come.
Pacific wrote:OK well regarding contacting CB for prize support, does anyone know any posters over on the official forum who are linked to CB?
Sadly not. Alpharius recently emailed the customer support and got a very helpful response, maybe we could start there?
Alpharius' request was answered by Palanka, the webmaster.
Another staff member very active in the forum is Bostria, which I know has been following with interest the petition process for an Infinity subforum in Dakka, and obviously was a little disappointed with the final resolution.
So, as far as I'm concerned, CB shows an interest in an Infinity community growing in Dakka. Which thing you could exploit in your favor. I encourage you to contact them and present a solid and credible plan for the painting competition, tell them about your intentions and plans to promote Infinity in Dakka and imho It's quite likely they'll offer some prize support to the initiative.
Also keep in mind attendants to Indy Gencon will be able to meet in person Carlos Llauger and Gutier Lusquiños aka Bostria and Interruptor; who will be present at Battlefoam's and Micro Arts Studio's booth, their supporting partners, with some Infinity stuff of course.
I like where this is going - I am confident that we can grow a very active, informative and friendly Infinity community here on Dakka Dakka, one of the biggest wargame sites on the Internet..
Alph, would it be worth linking to this thread and making a short note about uniting the infinity fans down here on the forum in the first post of your News and Rumours thread?
I'd also put it in as a post at the end of the thread as I would assume most people don't always go back and read the first post. I certainly don't unless it's something like the Empire thread where it explicitly states that the first post will be kept up to date
Wow, this is all great ideas!
I'm sure I sadly won't be very helpful, but count me in on moral support! But I'll try and help if there's anything I feel I can do.
If there is anything in the OP that you feel you could help with or if you have ideas about growing the community then feel free to chip in! All help is very appreciated.
That'd be great, thanks! I think we should have a different one for each faction to start with. Then maybe one for each sectorial? And a general one? I'm sure if we all pitch in we can knock them out quickly.
I've probably missed where someone pointed this out, but Infinity appears to have billing over Malifaux now. Not a bad start towards that separate forum.
...which is rather sad. I love Malifaux. It's like picking a favorite child when one becomes more popular than the other. Regardless, Infinity deserves to be as strong as it is.
I hope that one day it'll overcome Marinehammer 40,000 and World of Warcraft Miniatures.
Looks good, Slarg. Although i just looked and i notice that the rank tracks Dakka already has tend to be quite serious. Maybe we should try and follow suit? i.e.
Infiltrating Zero
Marut Lieutenant
Camouflaged Croc Man
Maybe for 15, instead of beyond infinity we could have a powerful lieutenant/special character from the army list in question? What do you think?
I just has an idea, we could also have tactic specific rank tracks eventually, like all hacking or all infiltrating but from different factions.
So... I heard something about you wanting a banner (or picture for use in the signature, whatever it's called )?
Now, don't get your hopes up. I'm not *great* at image editing, I consider myself to be decent at best.
But either way, I got an idea, and made a little work on a banner, for usage on Dakkadakka. It's just a short work, and is by no means finished. It's just a little something to show you.
And if you feel that my skills are inadequate for the task, just tell me. I can take that, and I wouldn't want to force you guys to use a banner just to be kind to me However, if you like it, I'd be glad to work a little more on it to finish it. If you want me to change aything, I can do that too. It isn't too hard for me, and it's a good way to entertain myself.
So, anyway... Without further ado.... Here it is:
Spoiler:
Ofcourse, I'd have to fix that "Y" in Infinity (god it looks awful the way it is right now!) and make something out of the background, as well as fix the highlights on the Infinity logo, which does look a little bit weird atm.
But other than that, what say you?
CF: That's really good of you, it looks like it's really coming along to me! Personally i'm going to use something thin and possibly personalised but i know a few of the guys wanted a signature just like that. Alpharius and Slarg spring to mind.
That's great! Then I'll keep working!
I'll make sure to scale it down when I'm finished, but I prefer keeping it a little oversized when working with it.
And making it link shouldn't be too much of an issue, it's just a little work in terms of coding. Luckily, I've already done most of the work with my current banner. I'll make sure to give you the code too when I'm finished.
Also, current progress:
Spoiler:
Tidied it up a bit, made the exploding letters look better and a little dit and dat.
If there's anything you see that you think I should change, just tell me. It's not a lot of work, and it's really the small things that make all the difference.
Also, any idea what to do with the background?
Also, the bottom left of it still has a lot of space. Place slogan there?
Regarding slogan, should we go with the standard "It's not your list..." for now? Or perhaps dakkafy it somehow, like... "It's not your dakka, it's you!"
I understand why the "It's not your list" thing is so popular with the hardcore Infinity crowd (it seems a knee jerk reaction to 40k and the Net List phenomenon) but to be honest with you, it comes across more than a little negative especially when you're trying to recruit new players - many of which are going to come from that background in mini war gaming.
We really don't want to engender the "gnat's ass" mentality here as we attempt to grow our Infinity presence.
BlueDagger has, in my opinion, the perfect attitude in terms of how he helps new players and how he corrects misconceptions/mistakes for people when it comes to the rules.
I like that one, though could we get the Dakka part a little bit brighter please? It'd be nice if Dakka had as much prominence as Infinity as we are trying to bring people here; especially if people decided to use that banner on other forums
I think I'm somewhat sided with Alpharius that "It's not your list, it's you", while popular with the players, is perhaps not the most enticing slogan to be bandying around.
It hasn't got the immediate scene setting of things like WH40k's "In the Grim Darkness of the Far Future, there is only war" or Inquisitor's "Everything you have been told is a lie", and it's pretty derogatory, given it roughly translates as "If you suck at this game, it's your own damn fault".
While the fact that the game is well play-tested and balanced is of course a good thing, a more positive phrasing would be better. Something that focuses on being able to take the models you want, not the ones you have to.
endtransmission wrote:I like that one, though could we get the Dakka part a little bit brighter please? It'd be nice if Dakka had as much prominence as Infinity as we are trying to bring people here; especially if people decided to use that banner on other forums
Infinity's "Do you want to know more?" has always appealed to me in a cheesy way. I don't think it'd be entirely appropriate.
You don't need a slogan. You'll either end up with something uninviting like "It's not your list, it's you!" or something stupidly repulsive like "play like you've got a pair".
Absolutionis wrote:You don't need a slogan. You'll either end up with something uninviting like "It's not your list, it's you!" or something stupidly repulsive like "play like you've got a pair".
I have to agree, a lot of slogans are as off putting as they are (supposedly) entertaining. Unless it is "Would you like to know more?" because that is just awesome

Everytime someone says "Would you like to know more", I picture giant bugs.
I'll rewrite the PanO title track in a bit, need to post some long overdue picture.s
When there is one for each faction i'll edit them a bit to make them similar then check with you guys before i submit them. So i can put that through as finished and just make a slight edit at the end if you want?
haha yeah I saw the linking from that and figured it could use a redirect. it's all fun and games till none of you pics show up from meeting the quota lol.
Although, I have continued to use my old one just because I am so useless on computers and it took me ages to set up!
What do you guys think about having an Infinity News thread in this forum for the community?
That's a great idea, although I hope it won't take away from the thread already in the News & Rumour area. That probably draws a lot of people into the game (in fact, I believe that was where I first discovered the game!)
Perhaps people could just make posts regarding specific new releases if they wanted to discuss them?
Guys, not now, but how about an 'Infinity Avatar week' when we launch the painting comp? I know a lot of people are attached to their avatars and wouldn't want to change them permanently, but how about for just one week at that time? (Kind of like the 'we love Matt Ward' one the DCM guys did a while ago )
Rather than duplicating the N&R thread, there's my original suggestion of the "Make a list featuring this month's releases" thread. the first post would include the releases for the coming month and people can then talk about their ideas for lists using these new models.
It gives you a N&R type thread without detracting from the main N&R forum area. It also creates a new, active thread each month
Ah yeh, i forgot about that sorry! Do you want to go ahead and do the March releases that are available this April? I'd be interested in that discussion!
Casey's Law wrote:Ah yeh, i forgot about that sorry! Do you want to go ahead and do the March releases that are available this April? I'd be interested in that discussion!
I can certainly do the first post to give people an idea of what I was thinking. We cna then discuss to see if that's a format that's of use to people or not

Painted my first infinity model yesterday, those guys paint pretty fast and easy, but that might also have to do with me having Ariadna. It isn't really that hard to paint soviet style green and brown clothes .
Trying to get a 150 point Ariadna force together to get some games in against Alpharius at Adepticon. I am itching for my first game. I hope to get in a few demos there and then maybe become the person that pimps out Infinity in the Oklahoma City area.
Did anybody put together any Army Profiles for their infinity faction? That might be another area where we can increase exposure to Infinity on DakkaDakka, as well as writing Articles.
The banner looks great, CF! I'll add it to the OP!
I prefer something smaller so i'll be sticking with the thin one Silver made but i'm sure someone will be using it. Thanks very much for doing it!
@d-usa: They paint much faster than people think, it's a bit of a myth tbh. It takes for ever if you don't use washes and/or drybrushing though.
Casey's Law wrote:The banner looks great, CF! I'll add it to the OP!

Thanks for the kind words! It's the first time I tried making something like this, so I'm glad it turned out good ^^ At the very least I'll make sure to use it myself
Well, kind of first time. I know how to use a picture manipulation program, and I do simple stuff like cropping pictures and such from time to time... But I've never tried to take different picture and put them together, or making a banner.. Even the explosive effect was something I improvised forth after an image I had in my head
But either way, great thanks to everyone working on this! We are sure to attract attention towards Infinity! Keep up the good work!
I've been working on the Infinity Rank Tracks tonight. I condensed them into one list to make each rank easy to compare between factions. Not finished obviously but i'm getting tired, what do you think of what i've done so far? Is the balance good? Have i missed out something important?
Key: N - Nomads AL - Aleph Y - Yu Jing P - PanOceania H - Haqqislam C - Combined Army AR - Ariadna
Sorry, neither it is. It was at the time because i was comparing them to each other.
I'll finish it off tomorrow then split them up again. By doing it this way all the levels should equal out as best as they can.
Frak! I just filled in two of the other three rank tracks by editing the post and then i hit the profile button and lost it all. I'll have to do them again later. Sorry guys!
It didn't work because i wasn't doing a full edit. :( I've managed to remember most of it with a couple of mistakes. So i'll post it up soon when i've done CA.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Done! Any changes that i should make?
I have submitted the six faction specific rank tracks to Dakka. If you would like to add others, Sectorials for example, feel free to post them here and i'll equate them then add them in.
Anyway, sectorials might be pushing it a bit far, as I think if we start doing some, we need to do them all, and there's two things wrong with that:
1) Some sectorials don't contain enough different model types to make up the 15 ranks.
2) That would be 13 more tracks, and I think 20 in total for what's still a fairly small game is pushing it a bit. I'm not even sure WHFB has that many. (WH40k does though, I think.)
Your right, Marco, Sectorials is taking it too far i didn't consider it for long enough to see the negative side of it. Good shout.
And yeh, i meant seven. They are listed in the OP and there is a link to the thread where i asked for them to added.
I haven't heard back about the Glossary terms yet, maybe Alph could give that a nudge along? Being a mod and all.
Don't want things to slow down, we are doing a great job so far! So whats next on our list? Lets have a look...
...Shiiii. It's all completed! Well done everyone and a personal thank you from me to all the contributors and supporters!
I'd suggest we get back to brainstorming then, what else can we do to keep things improving and ticking over? I have one idea which i'm going to discuss with someone on Friday. I won't say what it is because i don't want to make any promises. Anyone else got an idea we could try to execute?
Edit: We haven't chosen a slogan or had any Avatars submitted yet actually.
I'm against slogans personally. Most are in-crowd references, or ones that are just being 'smart' and put as many people off as they attract.
Personally I think a UK dakka infinity/40K/etc meet would be quite cool. 40k attracts a lot of people, but the infinity is there so people can be exposed to it and those who have it can play (and others can proxy)
Well, there have been a few dakka meets. I think it was kettera (sp - on phone so can't go check without losing post ) who organised the platinum devil events in canterbery. Can't remember who did the silver sorceror events at warhammer world.
I'd suggest tring to book space at the maelstrom games game hall as can play all games on their tables and it is pretty central. Otherwise, if someone can hire a cheap venue and people can bring terrain?
As someone who loves the fluff and the models... who really likes to paint and discuss stuff, but doesn't have too many games under his belt, any suggestions?
I have my blog up, and I'm actively following anyone else who is working on things. There certainly aren't as many Infinity P&M Blogs, so those that update regularly are a treasure.
The only other thing I can think of is to point some of my RL people to Dakka so they can participate and add their two cents.
That will help a bunch, maybe post up some lists you use or posts some tactics that you found useful / need help with.
If you are feeling really ballsie you can do a batrep, but these are kinda difficult so the more feedback on good batreps we can get out there the better.

As Blue said, you're already doing loads to help, boss! Content is the most important thing and everyone is doing a great job there. apart from that, just keep the threads fresh and throw any ideas for improvements in here.
If anyone has ideas or suggestions about a meeting then please feel free to post them here, i'm sending off a few emails to test the water. How solid are we that it has to be Maelstrom? If we worked out cheap travel options does it even have to be central?

I have read the unit entries, but it is the overall universe fluff that is really lacking - only a handful of lines on each faction? I need what is in the rule book
As for posting the fluff? I will eventually post it - once I have settled on what I want to do

Maelstrom is convenient as they already have the terrain etc, plus you can buy Infinity there and then if you like it, and you are not limited to playing one specific brand like at warhammer world
But if people are willing to bring terrain, you can host it pretty much anywhere. Regards to the central bit - it would be nice to have a dakka event that wasn't right on the south coast for a change
It's not just the cost, but the travel time - if you are coming from Scotland then you've got a massive travel time to get to anywhere, let alone if you have to go all the way down south. A central location means that people can look at the event and say "hey, I won't have to spend 4 days standing up in a train to get there, I might give this one a go!" - plus the south is expensive for everything

The youtube videos are general fluff not unit specific. I've read parts of the rulebooks but there is a lot to read and sometimes i find the translation means it's tough going because the writing doesn't flow perfectly. The videos were informative and i got an idea of the whole universe very quickly. Well worth watch even if you've got the rulebooks!

Gotcha! That was all great advice. I'll see what i can come up with. I'll keep you informed as things progress.
Met up to buy a couple of models and have a chat with a guy from the Infinity forum. He's off to a convention but i've interested him in coming over to Dakka to sell his stuff here when he gets back.
Those of you well acquainted with the Infinity forums will know him as ChoKonnit or ShaeKonnit. He is the master of the 'Split Box Leftovers' where he sells individual models from Infinity clamshells and box sets. He sells his stock from here in Scotland and if you buy models from split boxes he posts them in envelopes for a very, very reasonable fee.
Hopefully he'll make his way over here soon. Please make him feel welcome as usual and buy lots of models from him!
I updated my signature, and although neither my Army List nor my painting skills are too great, I'll could get my Hassasin Bahram onto the Army List - do we have to lobby to get a section for Infinity there?
Do the Infinity guys have a program similar to being a Pressganger? I hope to get some demos in at Adepticon and then push for the game in Oklahoma City.
Not at this time. They have considered it several times however they are too small to devote the amount of coordination it would take to do a pressganger type system in all the languages the game support. maybe down the line though.
Yeah, it seems right now the best thing they can have is very motivated people at your local game store. They may not be the official face of Corvus Belli or anything, but I've met a lot of motivated and cool players that approach me while I'm painting and chat me up.
We have one guy who spent about 400 bucks on terrain so we have good, solid Infinity terrain to play on. It really make a difference to see your mini's on a board like Pacific's after all.
I just try to make an impression by sharing my love for the game (mainly the fluff) and just having awesome painted models to play with.

We haven't looked into that, could you give me some more information, it's not something i've ever used so i wouldn't know where to start. If you can get me links, a quick description and what you want to do i might be able to push it through quickly. I've to pm Yak tonight to get the other stuff possibly pushed through so i could bolt this request onto my pm if you are quick.

I know a few of you use the official Infinity forums much more than i. Would one of you advertise the Dakka Painting Contest in a thread over there to drum up support? I think Corvus will be fine with that since they are the ones putting up the prizes. If someone is happy to do that and you are not a DCM i can gives you some of the required info. It might be a good idea to mention that we are growing this section of Dakka too.
I'm still working on a few things for organising an event. I have a few conversations to have still before i can put plans into action. I'm considering setting up an annual event... maybe.
Dakka Glossary Terms and Rank Tracks should be getting pushed through very soon which will be nice for all of us.
As soon as the school holidays are over i'm going right back to promoting the game locally.
So far i've just been doing demos with the starter boxes, so my next priority must be TAGs!
Tactical combat is one thing, but big, bastard robots knocking hell out of each other is a whole new level of enjoyment!

The army profiles page was one of my original suggestions You don't need anyone else to create it for you; it's a wiki, so you can add new tags to your heart's content. If anyone needs help putting up a page, PM me with what you want up there and I can have a look at starting it for you.
Sadly I've not got much to show in an army profile yet, so there's no point in me putting one up.
One of my friends only plays 40k. While he won't stop playing that, he's been annoyed at the Australian prices for a while (though he was happy when I pointed him to dicebucket). While talking about 40k, I mentioned infinity.
Free rules, you say? And free army builder? Army consists of 10 models, and only about $100au all up? When are you going to the FLGS next, I'm coming to have a look.
Honestly, any other game and I would have beaten the snot out of him;
He: I'm going to shoot you *Rolls 2, 3, and 5*
Me: Ha! ARO! *Rolls 20*
Me: I'm going to shoot at this guy *20, 17, 14*
Him:Ok, I get an ARO now? *3*
One of his models took out my entire force (Was only playing 3 Fusilers against three Nomad starters) because of that. We laughed and joked, saying any other game system and I would have just beaten the snot out of him.
I've actually started to add all the categories and sub-categories for Infinity as well as adding mine in there as a starting article. If you look at the Army Profiles Category page now, you should see a nicely formatted Infinity section. I'll ask about getting it repicated over onto the main Army Profiles landing page tomorrow.
The general instructions for creating articles in the profiles section are actually pretty good. When you create a new page, you can select Army Profile as your starting template, which will give you the main framework to your page and some hints on what to put where.
To add it into the correct categories, you can select from the Categories dropdown list. I'll update this post tomorrow with some more info.
You know, I haven't really taken the time to look through the army profiles before - and there really don't seem to be that many! It wouldn't take much to make Infinity the best supported...
Dude you are a legend. I'll add links to a few of the threads later! Thanks, boss man!

Excellent work - thank you very much for this!
We're well on our way towards making Dakka Dakka into a host for a really good Infinity community!
Whoa, just had a look down the sub-forum threads. We have completely flooded the list with top quality content, soon our active threads will be slipping off the page. I predict a sub forum in our future.
I wanted to throw this out, but I don't think this question quite warranted it's own thread yet (plus it's kind of relevant to the theme of this one).
Would it be a good idea to start an Infinity Opponent Finder thread here (Or just a "Where Are You" sort of thing), or would that be better placed in the "Find a Game" forum? My concern is that a thread like that would be buried by all the 40k / WHFB / HordesMachine stuff over there. I ask because I know for a fact that there are more players around here beyond my regular opponent (my FLGS has sold out of it's stock) but it's been impossible to get in touch with them. DakkaDakka has been a useful tool for me to find others in the past, and I figure it would be a great resource to get us Infinity players together.
Forgive me if this is a dumb question, but I'm really interested in growing the game on a local level. Doing that requires getting a community together. Doing that requires games to be played. Doing that requires players to get together.
Thanks for listening to / considering / educating me on my clueless question.
Thats a really great idea Etna. That's what the Find a Game Sub Forum is for but i think we should put the thread in our sub forum as you suggested. Keeping all of you resources in one place is really beneficial for our community and it will continue to build upon the great atmosphere in this part of the forum.
Feel free to set it up. I'll contribute and try to get my regular opponent to join the board do the same. He's already really interested in the painting contest, and it may just be a matter of twisting his arm enough to join a game night. Of course that assumes he can get away from his kids long enough to get a game in...
I digress. I'm glad you like the idea, and I think as long as we called it something like "Infinity Players Sound Off- Where Are You?" it wouldn't be a problem. Maybe I'm just trying to be clever, though.

Good Idea Etna. The Infinity forum itself has a Living database. All it is, is each guy replies with his Dakka name, Country, State, Town. It should stickied think here. I think it's more appropriate here since it's just for this game. Well, I suppose those Malifaux guys too lol.
Too get more people it pick it up, it takes doing demos. I've done a few myself. It's fun just to do them anyway.
CDK wrote:Too get more people it pick it up, it takes doing demos. I've done a few myself. It's fun just to do them anyway.
I really wish I could do demos to be honest. Unfortunately between working and being a returning student (I should be studying now...) it's hard for me to get out for a game any day but Friday, let alone long enough to run demos. There's supposedly a fellow around here trying to get some HordesMachine players into the game, but I can't seem to get in touch with him for several reasons.
I do have a fully terrained (is that a word?) 4'x4' board designed to be broken down and transported, so assuming we can get people together we'll have a pretty slick looking gaming surface to play on. Yeah, I know the game is supposed to be played on a 6'x4' board, but unfortunately I just don't have enough terrain or two more 2'x2' tiles to form a full board.
Maybe if I get together a gaming group it will inspire me to build / buy more tiles and terrain.
I think anyone can edit the link that endt gave us but we need a mod to edit the official one. I could be wrong though. Endt said he'd pm someone tomorrow to get it sorted.
For the 'Find an Opponent' page, how about using a system similar to the one on the Infinity boards? So new users copy and paste the previous one, then add their own information? Granted it is a little more messy, but it removes the need for Casey's Law to have to go back amending the opening thread on a constant basis! It's great of you to be doing it now Casey's Law, but I worry about a few months down the road it will become a serious chore!
It might also be an idea to say, "here are the Infinity players of Dakka, for a more expansive list visit the Infinity Forums <link>", which will help stop newbies from looking at the list, saying "omg there are only 2 Infinity players in Europe lol" and then not bothering to start the game.
Oddly enough... guess who looks after the Dakka Gamer catalogue
Whatever we do for the Gamer Catalogue at the moment, it will only need to be a temporary measure as Lego is working on something similar to the Store Finder to allow the gamers to manage their own profiles and list what systems they play.
This morning I've also started creating the framework of a general Infinity section in the site (http://www.dakkadakka.com/wiki/en/Category:Infinity) as well as fleshing out the Army Profile section a little more. Once we've got a few profiles in the system, I'll go back and and the Spotlight blocks that the other systems have.
If there's anything else you think should be added, just shout.
I will expand my notes on creating Infinity pages at lunchtime... I have quotes and invoices to write/send!
Good points, Pacific. I don't mind doing it for now but if it turns into a chore i'll edit the OP and we can use the other method.
I had completely forgotten it was you until i went to write the thread, endt. As you can see i 'borrowed' your format rather than reinvent the wheel. As you say, the next update is going to probably replace the system so it isn't for ever.
Thanks for dealing with the article stuff, dude. I rarely use that part of the site(hopefully the update will change that) so i wouldn't know where to start. Much appreciated!
Sorry everyone i've kinda been slacking on pms and organising stuff but i'm been a bit off colour the last few days. Feeling better and i've made a list of things for the morning.
I couldn't find another thread for general Infinity discussion, so I thought I'd put this here.
After buying the Infinity rulebooks, I grabbed the Warhammer Vampire Counts army book. I did a double take when I saw them ring up the price. $69au for the army book. The Infinity rulebooks cost me $55au a peice.
They're easily 3-4 times as big as the army book. I admit the Vampire Counts book is very slick, as usual for 8th edition Warhammer books, and the Infinity rulebooks have little positioning and formatting issues, like with the army lists, a lot of them don't sit correctly in the boxes (I do desktop publishing as part of my job, so I noticce these things). But the Infinity books have the edge in that they're full of awesome art and are rulebooks.
Probably something other people have noticed, but wow. What a shock when I saw that price ring up.
That is surely an Australian thing. However, the Warhammer 40k and Fantasy books do, in the US, go for about the same price as the Infinity books.
As an aside, I really wish that Corvus Belli produces a small rules 'handbook' akin to the Warhammer boxed set minibooks and the Malifaux Rules Manual. It's a nice thing to have.
Regardless, I've all but stopped caring about sifting through my rulebook because accessing the Wiki from my phone is just that much more efficient.
So got my second game in today; 150 points. Came down to the last model, but I lost, yet again. Remembering to stay in cover is kind of throwing me off, too used to Warhammer
Oh, and we weren't playing with alot of the rules, though my brother did help by taking everything I told him not to (Hey I don't know the rules for this stuff. "Not my fault!")
While I think it's nice not to have to buy the rulebook, in my experience a lot of people do. I agree Wiki is far more useful when you have a thorough grounding in the game, but I really enjoyed getting the main book first of all and spending a week or so just sat down and reading through it from cover to cover.
Slarg232 don't worry it will take you a while to get used to the rules - best to get used to the basics of the rule mechanics, then introduce new stuff as you go along.
Great to see you guys starting with gusto! I know it has a learning curve at first but it's worth it. Not only that but you have to think differently as well! Now you can't go get a drink while the other guy moves. You always have to think a few moves ahead but now there's a whole new part to do that. I've seen guys win just doing good ARO!
We seem to have found that people that played lots of Necromunda and Mordheim pick up Infinity much faster thanks to things like Overwatch and needing to keep a close eye on what your opponent is doing at all times.
The other thing we have to bless Corvus Belli for is not making us buy separate army books as well as the core rules.
It's because they know they are in the business of selling minis. Not Publishing. I bet they don't even make much on selling the rule books.
Doing the same as them is something I argued about GW doing as well. Make codexes free and you will find yourself selling more minis. No longer waiting years to print a new codex because you can update every one, every year! They want to come out with a new unit? no problem just update the online file. No need to wait for a new codex and printing.

Sorry again guys, pushing things back till tomorrow morning now. Still not feeling too sharp.
Thanks, dude. I'm still around if there is anything urgent but i'm just faffing about until i feel a bit better, got loads of pms to reply to and stuff.
Well, whatever we're doing, we're doing it right. Of the fifty topics on the first page of this forum section, I count 43 about Infinity, and almost all of them active in the last week.
Pacific wrote:While I think it's nice not to have to buy the rulebook, in my experience a lot of people do. My problem is I find it hard to look at a screen and actually read for prolonged periods of time - even eInk screens. So my choices boiled down to either print the PDFs and have a pretty crappy looking set of rules, or buy the fantastic full colour rulebooks.
I know my local supplier can't keep them in stock. He may not get many (he's a one-man op) but they fly out when they come in. Even the battlefoam cases move.
I know I have help grow the community down here in Texas in the dallas area. I own Pan Oceania and Adriana so I can let friends try it out. I am a bit behind what does the new rule book look like ?

That's a great idea, I've had some of my Infinity stuff up for months and it hardly has any votes!
I spend a fair bit of time on the whole gallery actually, just looking through peoples stuff. There was one photo, out of focus, of an unpainted orks face (extreme close-up) that had more votes than most of my models!
I have made it my goal today to check out everyone's logs and vote on stuff!
My apologies I don't have any professional lookin' pics... or even snaps on terrain like Pacific, his stuff is way more photogenic than mine. Hust holding up a model and snapping a pic doesn't look to hot.
Question about a UK Infinity event:
Those who would be up for attending, what are the thoughts on having the event in Glasgow? Assuming i can find/organise cheap transport.
I do know from personal experience that you can comfortably travel to Glasgow from London, Newcastle, and other places i'm sure, for £8 occasionally.
Glasgow would be okay with me - but then I'm just south of Edinburgh. Until 30th June, and then London or Glasgow won't matter cos I'll be back in Perth - Australia.
I'm running out of available days before then anyway...
Casey's Law wrote:Off to Australia so soon? How long will you be there for?
He'll be there forever It's very inconsiderate of him!
Personally I'd prefer somewhere more central for an Infinity meet-up, but could possibly make it to Glasgow for a weekend later in the year. Maelstrom's gaming center would be good as they have boards and terrain already available.
£8 by train? When? In the 1960s?
Even with railcards and being very flexible about when I travelled, I can't convince the costs to be less than several times than that (especially having to go both ways).
In practical terms, if I wanted to get to Glasgow, a coach would actually be a better bet for me. It's a lot cheaper, and takes long enough I might actually be able to get some sleep on an overnight trip.
However, Glasgow isn't the most practical place for a southerner like me. (Mind you, I've never been to Scotland, so it could be an opportunity). Maelstrom would be a happier bet for me, as I'm used to making trips to the Midlands.
I could go for Glasgow if it was a full weekend event, but I think that somewhere central is the best bet if you want to maximise attendance.
Basically it shouldn't be much further north than Manchester, much further south than Birmingham, much further east than Derby, and much further west than Telford or Chester, if you want it to be reasonably accessible (less than 2 hours for most of the country, less than 3 hours from London or Scotland).
@Casey's Law: See MarcoSkoll's comment for why I thought you were suggesting coach As endtransmission noted - I'll be back in Oz indefinitely - well, until funds + Da Boss wrench me to a new location - but I will be resisting that!
@Chemical Cutthroat: I only worry that I have been softened by my brief time in the United Kingdom. Still, fighting off poisonous monsters is like riding a bike right? You never really forget...
@MarcoSkoll: I've never managed to sleep on a coach unless thoroughly exhausted. 2 previous nights on a coach just about did it
Thanks for the quick feedback guys and damn you, Arakasi for going to stay in such a dangerous place!
I took the train from Glasgow to Newcastle last year for £8 each way, the London tickets were the same but we took too long to organise it and they sold out. It's an offer that pops up occasionally, i'll get my friend to give me some more info on how often it comes up.
Maelstrom does make more sense though so i'll look into that side of things some more.
While I could possibly make it up to the frozen wastes of Glasgow, it is a bit of a treck, even just from the midlands. The train links from what I know are terrible - especially if you are on the cheap limited travel tickets - a missed connection when one of your trains is invariably late can cost you hundreds in rail ticket charges.
Somewhere central is much better for people all over the country.
chromedog wrote:Apparently the English rulebooks are OOP (again).
On this note, is there actually anywhere in the UK (I direct this at those actually in the UK) the things can still be found in stock? I've got a mate who's trying to find the main rulebook, but all the webstores we normally use seem to be out of stock and have been for sometime.
I think there are stock shortages everywhere at the moment - I wanted to get some stuff from the Maelstrom 25% off sale, literally every starter pack was out of stock as well as quite a few of the blisters.
That's a really quick sell-through on the Human Sphere book, I think -- I'm sure it was OOP for a while a year or so back too, when I first tried getting a copy.
Weird. I saw the starter sets and both books on most stands selling Infinity yesterday. I wonder if the shortage was everyone stocking up for this weekend
I've been thinking over some stuff in preparation for making a big update and struck me that i haven't asked you guys!

I'll keep checking your comments on my HTC, so keep them coming and i'll post the update as soon as i've got a good idea of what you guys are thinking.
I think that for now we should focus on getting more people involved in infinity. Spread the word around (start blogs, talk on local forums, that kind of things). Also I believe that it's important to keep things interesting. Now you may ask how are we gonna do that.
Well first of all Painting competition was a great idea and I see it's going really well (in which, unfortunately, I'm unable to participate due to Real Life™ things that are happening to me right now. But soooon... ). Maybe it would be good idea to that from time to time (every 3 or 4 months) with prizes and everything. I'm sure that can be arranged.
Also on my local forum there is one thing called Painting league. Whats the point of Painting league? Well it starts with the idea that average gamer is kinda lazy concerning painting. It's purpose is to motivate people to paint. This is how it works. You have two weeks to paint one miniature (only one, if you can paint more that great but one is enough). Quality of paint job is not really important, it's important to just paint. After every round you submit photo of your mini and all other participants of the league will grade it. There is one moderator who puts all grades in the table and post it on forum. If you fail to submit your photo on time you are assigned honorary title of Chicken for that round. It works really well and I saw a lot of people dramatically increase their painting productivity. If you're interested we can go in more details about this later.
Second thing I think would be great is some sort of terrain building competition. We all know that Infinity needs a lot of terrain so why not organize a competition. It could be thematic ( build a Haqq building or PanO military hangar or Paradiso research station, something like that). Or just build anything you like/need for your table. Maybe we can even arrange some prizes just to motivate people...
Also I see that you guys in England are trying to organize a meet up. I didn't follow the whole thread but that is also an excellent idea. Just a little note, small number of people who show up is totally ok. Start small and than develop further. Bring a friend along, show him the game, beat him with beautiful rule book.
Another thing that we need is more bat-reps. As much as I can conclude, doing comic book style bat-rep really works good for Infinity. I will probably have my new camera (since the old one met it's inevitable, grim end ) soon so I will try to make some. But any kind of bat-rep would be good.
And what I would personally like to see more on the forum is more fluff threads. Explore the background, discuss the details, make parallels with real world technology/events, write your own stories (we already have that but just to mention it).
So there you go. This is a couple of my ideas how to grow community. And thank you for reading this short essay.

This. This so hard.
Infinity is one of those games where it isn't daunting to paint up an entire force. This is something that can be focused on like a razor. Even if you're painting up one or two guys a week, in two months you have a fully painted squad. That sounds great.
The number one thing for me with Infinity is the fantastic figures. I'd like to see more shown in other parts of DD other than here. The contest is great and should be a yearly thing if not more. Build up the articles and army profiles with Infinity stuff is not bad either. I just wish they weren't buried with all the other things.
Yeah, I'm at the point where I could definitely do an Army Profile for my Haqqislam, but the problem is I keep... buying... models...
I have about 475+ of Haqqislam... and more on the way.
Gotta get painting.
When I do the Army Profile (eventually) I'm definitely enlisting your assistance CDK. You seemed to have an adventure out of it when you were doing your Yu-Jing.
Hey guys... We haven't done any introduction to each of the factions yet, haven't we?
I know fluff vids from Corvus Belli are there, but I feel it would be a good idea to sticky a thread where we've written down some lines about the fluff and general playstyle/units of each faction. Because if there's one thing I look for when I'm interested in a new game, that's a summary of each of the factions.
What do you think? Is that a good idea?
We could a league of infinity painters or something, like what the tale of painters is over on warseer.
Every month you do a mini or two and post wip pics, and then the next month you post the finished product with a bit of info about what you did and why.
Although I think the idea of grading finished minis may put some of the less experienced painters off, myself included here. But we would all comment on all the finished minis and give some tips or pointers to each other.
I'm really glad you guys like my ideas. I see that you like Painting league idea so I will expand on that later today when I get back home. No time now, I have bunch of stuff to do today.
@perplexiti
Don't worry about quality of paint job. The grading system is organized in that way that it rewards finished, painted miniature not the quality of the paint job itself. I'll explain everything later.
Sweet as, the only issue I have is if it puts people off entering. I'm nowhere near the best painter around, but it's good to get constructive criticism that helps you improve.
And I'm keen as to join in, it'll give the incentive to get finished starting on my Haqq!
On the way home from work, I had a funny conversation with my friend on the phone.
After several minutes of catching up, I mentioned Infinity, which he totally forgot to check out. So he asked for the game URL.
After several more minutes of shocked reactions at the models, he asked where he could get the rules. I informed him they were free (again) and they have a free army builder on their website.
He's coming here on Sunday to check out the rulebooks and buy a starter pack at my FLGS.
Now to get my other wargaming buddy and brother to start.
Alright Ender0, let's chat about this painting thing.
Everyone is going to be coming off of the contest-high in a couple of weeks, so it would be a great time to start getting it set up and maintain the painting motivation.
Can you link us somewhere to show us how it works? Or give us a quick rundown?
I've got one of my old gaming buddies visiting on Sunday, along with his daughter. They've both expressed some vague interest in 40K, having seen my minis and my son's, but have understandably been put off a bit by what's clearly a huge investment in time and money to even buy-in to the game.
So, I'm going to have them play some 100-pt test games of Infinity. I've made 3-4 lists each from the 3 factions my son and I own between us (Yu Jing, Aleph, and Ariadna), all with quite different characters, and none of them with more than 1-2 specialised units (parachutists, hackers, minelayers, etc.). I'll get a table set up with terrain before they get here, too, and some of the PDF army references sheets printed out, just to maximise accessibility. I think my friend will love it but still be resistant to actually buying it, but I'm hoping his daughter will apply pressure to make him do so.
May I ask you guys how you came across this game and why you stuck with it? I want to know how to better reach out to the local gamers.
The problem here is that Infinity isn't really supported. We lack a local distributor, and this is off-putting for stores. The average guy won't find out about this game because you can't find it unless you're really looking for it, and the guys that actually learn about the game are often put off by either the lack of support or the seemingly complicated rules.
It sounds silly, but I walk into Game Stores looking for cool RPG books and other interesting things... it just so happened that this brightly colored rulebook caught my eye, and I bought it immediately. The art is fun, the fluff is cool... the rules I didn't worry about.
Once I realized it was a miniature game, I then started to look at the Minis. The sculpts are amazing, and totally sucked me in. I ordered a couple, and got to painting.
Then I find out my FLGS started stocking them, and that a group was gathering to play.
I watched some of the online You-Tube tutorials, which were INCREDIBLY helpful with explaining the rules in a way that made sense, and once that was out of the way, the more obscure rules started dropping into place.
I first saw a News and rumors thread.
Wasn't interested.
Then a couple weeks later, I saw people asking for a dedicated Infinity board on Dakka.
So I went on the official site to see what it looked like.
And I was blown away =P
Beautiful minis with free rules and free army builder.
I spent the rest of my work week learning about the game =)
Hadn't even played it and already loved the game.
So I ordered a couple minis and the books =)
I played a demo game with my brother and 2 friends. And they all ordered some now =)
Now we play every sunday =)
(Still playing with proxies tho)
Hmm, not sure. I think I read about it here, and looked at some of the minis and decided they were too expensive.
Then a year ago there was a GW price rise and suddenly Corvus Belli minis looked reasonable by comparison. A few of the people at my local game club started looking round for other games, deciding GW had finally jumped the shark, and three or four of us bought some Infinity starter packs.
Congrats, man. Perhaps you'll get the votes and views it deserves now.
Follow-up questions to the earlier one:
Do your stores host events for Infinity and dedicated gaming nights?
What would be good to have at an event/demo game in a store? I figure that rulebooks and starters would be the most obvious, but maybe it would be smart to include some Jotums and Dragoons just for the cool-factor? Would you guys have liked it if someone had already printed out the free rules and handed them out as well?
I'm just trying to collect some info on how such an event should be handled, should the opportunity ever arise (nothing concrete at the moment).
We tend to have an Infinity Day at Games n' Stuff once a month. It's not as much as I'd like to see, but the game is still kicking off, so it's definitely better than nothing.
Saw a thread about people complaining about cheesecake, so I went in to set them straight. Turns out they were complaining about 'cheesecake', provocative female miniatures. Saw the Al Hawwa sniper and immediately loved it.
Checked out the rest of the range and within a day I'd decided I wanted to play it based on the models alone.
I didn't beleive is either. It actually is in the dictionary. Other than a delicious dessert, it can mean art/movies/pictures/etc showing females in a sexually provocative way.
So, a lot of Infinitys female models.
Also, my friend has made his choice - tomorrow, he's buying his first Aleph models.
Wow amazing! Looked in a 20 year-old Oxford dictionary and the word is in there. Although, actually it is nice to see an example of the use of a real word rather than something to come from 13-year olds on World of Warcraft or 4-chan.
I suppose with the Infinity miniature design concepts there is enough for anybody within the range, regardless of what they like. So, indeed there are the 'Cheesecake' style minis (betraying the Manga roots and design aesthetic of the game), but it is perfectly possible to assemble a force without using them. A friend of mine hates that kind of stuff, but I take great delight in my 'Nomad with lolipop' gunning down one of his tough-guy Tiger Soldiers
I would say the Daktari is probably as far as I would go with the concept, before it gets into 'Bubblegum Pop' territory, but as you say there is nothing to stop them making some sexy-as-hell minis that stay the right side of what most people would deem to be sensible.
"Cheesecake" in that sense was used up until the late late 80s - so a long time before many of the current generation of gamers were born -no wonder you have no idea of alternate meanings (Larry Elmore's stuff copped flak for it being to "cheesecake" in the 80s).
As one of those gamers who WAS born while it was still in use, I knew what they were talking about. The corresponding male-reference is "beefcake".

I was looking around for an "other game" seeing as I needed a change from 40K and HoMachine just didn't cut it. I came across Infinity, asked around and took the plunge.
As I was the only person in my club playing and for that matter even interested, I took a gamble and bought a couple of starter packs and began making introgames for people. Infinity quickly gained a following.
I found there are a couple of ways to introduce people.
1) Give people a completely basic game, just grunts, no fancy weapons, no fancy rules, just the base core of it and whatever weapons the models are armed with, no special ammo or anything either.
2) Very tight premade lists of 75 points where all the skills and equipment are explained in detail on the sheets. Still keep it basic with the orders that are in the quick start rules, nothing fancy like hacking and such.
If you send me your email adress I can forward the massive list of 75 point lists I got from an american player that are doing demos this way.
I'd like to thank you guys for helping get into this game. You were all very helpful with my decision to go with Nomads, providing both what they can and what their good at and also with my first purchase (hopefully will come in soon). So far there are only 2 people other than myself that plays infinity but hopefully more will flock to it.

Yes I agree completely, IDJ did this for the intro-games at the Infinity Roadshow event I attended and I think it worked perfectly.
Not about growing here but at BoW. I think everyone should go on there and do a suggestion of Hey where's the Infinity? When was the last time they did a video other than the How to Play? I want interviews, discussions, etc. Another Infinity Week!

I'd rather someone else did it to be honest. BoW aren't my cup of tea, the only thing i enjoy is the Tabletop updates.
Think we could convince someone else to do Infinity stuff on youtube? We have a pretty big community now and therefore i strong vote and it would force me to get off my backside and post that update i've been promising for ages.
Alpharius wrote:Given recent....events, there has never been a better time to get into Infinity!
I have to believe that shortly we'll be seeing an influx of new players and curious users very interested in Infinity.
Brace for impact!
Hah, yes. Coincidentally, the day of the GW Annual Price Hike is the same day that Corvus Belli is supposed to reveal May's releases... one of which is hopefully, rumored to be, and finally the Deva+Devabot.
I could certainly do with some poking to get back into the painting. I'm just staring at the mountain of figures I've acquired and wondering where to start :/
I'll have to take a picture of the box with all of my Infinity purchases in it.
I've bought a mountain of stuff for a couple of reasons:
1) I've always wanted to get into Infinity - and boy have I!
2) I'm looking to move my focus away from GW anyway
3) Had to make most of my gaming purchases now, as I'm buying a house and I won't be buying much in the way of gaming for a while after that!*
I've got substantial armies for every faction except for Yu-Jing.
Oddly enough, Yu-Jing is the only army that I don't own a single figure for...
*I'm buying the Morat Raicho the second it is available!!!
I should post the pictures of the Infinity haul myself, Arakasi and two friends just acquired from another, very fine, Dakka member... it'll make you feel slightly sick. It made me feel slightly sick anyway
This is the entire haul
And this is a view of *most* of the boxes and *most* of the blisters to give you a sense of scale on those boxes. That cardboard box is completely rammed with blisters...
Though it has pushed me into additional factions that I had no intention of starting... so I see lots more money going CB's way as I flesh them out into workable forces :/

yeay! I'm not the only one! Bunch of stuff not on the table as after I took the picture I realized there was another box still sitting there...
Look, ya'll are just bonkers. I got a car payment if you want to help the underprivileged and whatnot... let's make a deal. I paint stuff and you hook a gamer up eh'?
I don't know if it will really help make CB more successful though, Alph.
Look at how hard it is for The Warstore to keep stuff in stock now, with the levels of interest not inflated by a massive swap (whether or not it remains a permanent spike) of people from GW to Infinity. Look at Maelstrom, Wayland, etc as well.
It might be a good thing--it might be a bad thing where they end up behind in releases, like PP was.
I'm going to go with the time honored tradition of more sales = more money for CB = more investing in equipment/infrastructure to produce more miniatures to meet the increased demand, etc.

I hope.
Fine Alph, I'll start seeing the cup as half full for your sake...
On that note, my Dasyu Snipers finally shipped today!
Alpharius wrote:However, that limit should be on the other side of a Jotum!
Agreed! I don't play PanO and I've got a Jotum sat there waiting to be painted, it's just that cool
Kanluwen wrote:This is going to be horrible. The community's going to grow, certainly, but the stock chains are going to get as bad as Privateer Press was last year.
I've got to agree here. Getting hold of Infinity in the UK takes time as nowhere can get hold of the stock on a regular basis; especially the newer stuff.

Great! He already forwarded those to me, but it's always great to make it more accesible.
Something that seemed a little weird was that some lists went crazy with their SWC (Combined Army, SWC 3.5 at 74 pts). How does that affect the balance?

Can't happen. 75pts mean 1.5 SWC max.
Uh, no it is. I think what happens there is they are ignoring the SWC from the LT. If you don't throw that out, you end up VERY limited, because you have to have an LT of some sort.
