So its official we now live in te Golden Age of plastic minis.
Mantic and War games Factory are churning out cheap cheerful fsntasy and scifi figures. Defiant is doing some cool stuff and the Perry's historical figures are second to none.
And then there's all te cool stuff due on line through kick starter and other micro financing.
Well, I am already getting a miniature of Cthulhu (I had been looking for a (affordable) miniature of Cthulhu before the kickstarter, actually...) with the Reaper kickstarter, so maybe some Brotherhood of Steel plastic miniatures? That is my favorite kind of power armour, and I would enjoy building an army from Fallout. Maybe throw in some plastic wastelanders and Enclave, for good measure.
Night lords... lots of night lords.... Also... some more deathwatch variants.... and maybe even throw in some more upgrade kits like they have for black templars and dark angels. Get a few of those upgrade packs for chapters like... Raven Guard or Imperial Fists or... NIGHT LORDS or... white scars... basically those upgrade packs are amazing and i would love to see more of them... and some night lords...
And big warmachines. They don't have to be from any particular setting, they don't have to have a million parts, they don't have to be articulated... they just need to scale well with 28-ish mm minis, and be A) big and B) cool-looking.
I will continue to theorize that the moment I paint my last Valhallan, there will be a gorgeous multipart plastic kit of them. I think I'd start up IG of almost any flavor if they came out in plastic though.
Aside from that, from GW I'd buy a Warhound Titan or Thunderbolt fighter if they came out in plastic. If a fighter with a similar aesthetic came out I'd be happy with that too!
I would be all over a set of Mad Max-style raiders in plastic. They could be a Necromunda gang or a random kit from one of these other plastic companies, I would love a set of them. Honestly, enough figures to support a Fallout tabletop game would make me ecstatic.
A lot of you guys have some uninspired dream models. Stuff GW is too lazy to make is kind of a dull dream model.
If there was a megaman giftset with miniatures of all the main characters, side characters, and robot masters I'd have one for each franchise (except star force). I don't even need a game for those models.
I have also long dreamed of plastic terrain kits much like GW's without the skulls or inflated prices. Some highly detailed and well-sized terrain features built for gameplay with lots of good, flat surfaces in many themes for many settings would delight me.
[take the hint, wargames factory]
Plastic storm troopers and most importantly for me as a Beastmen player, A good figure of Kazark one eye and Taurox the brass bull. Those two would make me die of happines or need new pants at least
Tanith IG, SoB, DE Haemonculi (a 3 guys small kit, similar to Empire Wizards for WFB), Wracks (box of 10, like Warriors and Wyches), Grotesques (a 3 to 5 box, depending on their size -ogre or terminator-), Infinity linked teams, Infinity TAGs, xeno scenery, Necromunda gangs, BB teams...

If the ForgeWorld Space Marine kits - especially the vehicles - went plastic I'd go broke. As it is I can't be dealing with all that buckled resin again
Big stuff like titans, thunder hawks, and marauders are pretty obvious choices. Some generic heros ala wfb would be ace. Ravenwing jet bikes, missing nid items, new flyers, tau rehash, sob, all good choices too.
I'd like to see Infinity move to plastics for one. I'd also love a Starcraft themed skirmish game. With full Blizzard backing, before anyone says 40k is the same thing. Maybe a Marvel backed game as well, or along the lines of Zombicide as a coop multiplayer game stoping henchmen and supervillians alike.
I have one of those... Some years ago, there was a small range of 1:53 scale Mechs released that are just about perfect size for Knights. Don't recall what the others were, but I picked up a Madcat off eBay intending to turn it into a Knight or a Stompa. Still down in the shed somewhere with its arms broken off, I think...
I've got a box around here somewhere of plastic Daleks and Cybermen from Citadel...
How much would you want for them?
And personally, if I wanted any plastic kit, it'd probably be either a Giant Dinosaur creature on a Stegadon base, or a series of giant models based on Godzilla monsters
Yes I know this is a lame list, but its all I would need to be complete.
Absolutely meganobz! And to just make upgrade sprues for all the ork weapons (rokkit launchers, deff guns, big shootas, burnas...) and bigger boxes of boyz to use all those toys on.
I will also back the plastic IG troops.
Generic future habitats/building that would be useful for Necromunda / Infinity / etc.
Generic post-apocalyptic survivor kits, Mad Max style
Generic cyberpunk gang kits for Necromunda or Judge Dredd, etc.
I'd love to see someone put out a line of just small sprues of various legs / torsos / heads / arms / weapons, etc. that would allow someone to pick out a few blisters and put together some unique models. They could offer army builder bundles if someone wanted 100x of each or something. I know there's lots of companies doing resin bits like this, but in terms of cost, plastic could make this extremly affordable. It would also be awesome if they did this for orcs and humans.
1:72 is my favorite scale. EVERYTHING IN 1:72. 40K, Star Wars, Dust Tactics, Macross, Mospeada, Modern RL military....every damn thing!!!! I wan't to see how it all looks side by side.
Plastic Meganobs, with all the gubbins, including bits to make a Mek in Mega Armour? One can dream.

And this. Plastic multipart Inquisitor (54mm) stuff too.
- Aliens box set with every single alien like facehuggers, runners etc etc.
- Predator box set with lots of preda classes and weapons...
- Multilevel plastic spacehulk
- Star wars box sets!
- Videogames box sets.... imagine your favorite game had a box packed with sprues with all the characters etc... For me would be things like street fighter... capcom, snk, namco etc etc
Ork Warboss (incl. all weapon & armor options... throw in a squig too)
Mega Nobz (3 - 5 per box) (incl. all weapon options)
Deffkoptas (box of 3 would be nice)
Warbuggy (incl. all weapon options)
Big Gunz (box of 3 would also be nice)
Flash Gitz (long over due)(5 - 10 per box)
Plastic versions of all the Infinity models ,at 1/3 prices , but cast all as bits so you can create own models.....with lots of gun options....preferably done by Anvil Industries
All I want are customizable, multi-part plastic sci-fi troopers. Real sci-fi, not gothic grimdark world war-era sci fi. And they have to be of a decent quality. Defiance has the right aesthetic, but the quality level is still uncertain. Dreamforge has the quality down, but I can't do more WW2-in-space models, even if they are beautiful. I still hold out hope that a future Iron Core faction will deliver.
Everblight Raptors. They are the whole reason i want to start Hordes.
Or the Warpborn Stalkers, Although you can get those in starter set.
But 40k?
Pathfinders and sniper drones.
Plastic greatcoated, gasmasked orks. I need 60 - 90 of them and the kromlech ones currently priced will leave me in poverty...
Celtic, sexy lady, dreadlocked and tribal Wood Elf Wardancers.
Xenos terrain for the other races... I would love decent eldar, dark eldar, tau and other terrains... Easy to make and would be so welcome after the imperial ruins we currently have as our only options. Especially things that could be used for the fortification options...
28mm Oni demon infantry and large characters, so I could make an entire Daemon army out of them.
RiTides wrote: What is the picture of, MGS? (I.e., what variety of IG...? I don't think I've seen that pic before...)
The Originals.
Baggy trousers, blast goggles, flak jackets, puny lasguns. They dressed in grey and died in their billions, no rambos, no super troopers, just ranks of grimy, uniform humans sent out into the void to die for the Emperor...
They have a huge nostalgic value to me and it was these images that made me love them the most...
I never did post my list did I? I really truly believe we're entering a golden age of miniature wargames so actually many of my regular wish list entries are close to being realized.
General Science Fiction
we have plenty of near future infantry options now with Wargames Factory, Defiant and Mantic all looking to scratch that itch. Defiant's upcoming realistic power armor also ticks off another box. But there's still a few things...
High Tech Oppressors - SWAT teams, Mega City Judges, riot cops, you get the idea.
Realistic Insurgents - people in vaguely military gear with mismatched weapons. A kit that can be anything from the Battle of Mogadishu to Yugoslavia, to a zombie apocolypse to post WWIII.
Guys in suits with guns - are they mobsters, corporate assassins, government agents? Who can say. But they're well dressed me with guns.
Cyber ninjas - cat suits, ball joints on the limbs, swords, silenced weapons etc.
Mutants - sewer dwelling CHUDs, wasteland dwelling cannibals, you get the idea.
Future Riot Truck - Dream Forge's new APC meets that need.
Future Mad Max cars - Ramshakle does great kits for this, now if only they were in plastic...
GW
If the leaked product list is real a lot of these were done. We'll see. By far what I really want is something for 40k close to the quality and flexibility of the Empire Militia box.
Arbites
Generic Cultists - a kit that can be Imperial, genestealer, hive gang, or chaos cults
Imperial Citizens - almost the same thing as cultists but with more of an emphasis on them being civilians.
Inquisitor and henchmen - More or less the same as the IG command squad with more crazy stuff.
A decent looking IG regiment. Please? Just one?
Titan - please? I mean you made the Skull Angel Fortress, who much harder can a Titan be?
Thunder bolt - awesome retro design, but I h8 resin
Marines in historic armor - why oh why must they be in resin? Why? WHY!
Historicals
I used to say samurai but to tell the truth the WGF ones didn't tempt me at all. But oh well...
Samurai, Ashigaru, Ninjas
Pirates - realistic or fantasy
Awesome Renissance dudes and ladies
General Fantasy
Generic D&D character sets - I am shocked, SHOCKED no one had does them yet. A single sprue with a bunch of wizard, warrior, cleric, elf, etc options. Aim it at the fantasy RPG market and it should sell. It has to sell at least as well as War of Spanish Succession plastics right?
A game board that doesn't cost 400$ made out of cheap but somewhat durable material big enough for 2-3 armies to play on at about 1000-1500pts each, I don't think GW needed to do the Citadel board at such an extensive level, if they made a desert board, roughly the same size as their current, made out of something cheap, but durable I'd be right on it, also terrain pieces that are more complete, like an actual bunch of buildings for a reasonable price
Thousand Sons!
Plague Marines
Ork Big Guns
Bigger Nobz (not Ork boyz with a larger torso piece, basically the AoBR Nobz with more options)
Plastic version of the metal Daemon Prince (with wings)
Xenos Terrain...
With the release of the DV set, GW has really set the bar higher with what they CAN produce in PLASTIC! Not over-priced finecast
Anyway add to my list a Hummer, or if rights are an issue a near future light scout vehicle.
This would be great
Were it plastic...
Kyoto, have you seen these forthcoming kits from Airfix?
In particular they have a pair of land rovers and this lovely:
All 1/48.
Automatically Appended Next Post: For myself, I would love the following:
Recut high elves
Storm Troopers (3rd edition version)
Imperial PDF fighter plane that the Orky Fighta-bomma is based on
Steel Legion
an Inqusitor kit would be great, and I mean that for both 28 and 54mm.
I would love a plastic Necron Lord/Cryptek set with tons of wild and interesting bits to make all the different crypteks standout.
I'm actually amazed any of the bits makers haven't jumped all over this! Puppetswar made some very awesome looking immortals models just recently - but damn - I think most people have stuck with their old metals or picked up the new plastic GW immortals. Meanwhile we have only one crappy $20 "fine"cast cryptek from GW.
So - any bits people reading this - a set of Cryptek bits would be awesome - you could just build it as random Techno rods/staves with a Necron hand and people can stick it on whichever Necron arm/body they want - warriors, immortals, Lychguard etc.
Titans...... Lots and lots of 40K scale titans...... Warhounds! Reavers!! Warlords!!! EMPEROR CLASS!!!!! ALL WITH ALL WEAPON VARIATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!! MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA(insane evil laughter)
I don't care if they are fantasy or 40K. I would LOVE to have some Ork forts, Eldar spires, Dwarf forges, Marauder longhouses, whatever. In particular, I'd love to see the old Gorkamorka Fort redone in plastic, but anything Orky would be fantastic. Also appreciated would be Chaos fortifications which weren't Imperial+Spikes or ruins with huge skulls.
Also appreciated would be small Imperial kits, much like the current fences and walls. I'd be happy to buy some small bridges, docks and rowboats, or other foolishness.
Given that we have an entire battleboard, buildings, forests, and hills, I'd also like PLASTIC RIVERS AND PONDS. Seriously, WTF? All of the other terrain (walls, buildings, woods, hills) is covered, but no water features? This could be a GREAT kit, and an easy way to include a river ford, a bridge and toll, and a boat or ferry.

I've had a similar idea. If I had the sculpting know-how, I'd probably have tried it by now; I don't know if it's technically feasible at a low price point, but something like a sprue with multiple heads, two torsos (for gender), legs and different clothes and accessories would be really cool. A "build your own mini" set with the bonus that it comes with tons of bits for your other duders.
What I'd really want to see, though, is a plastic kit for sahagin, those fish men of the deeps that keep playing bit roles in D+D worlds. A larger kit with the hulking, four-armed mutants would be very much appreciated, too. I've been using Privateer's Bog Trogs, but they don't quite capture the bug-eyed alien feel that I want, and I've never seen a good kit that I could work into the large, four-armed varieties.

I think you'd have to make a separate kit for genders. I think the sheer number of sprues needed is why this has never taken off.
There was an old line of 3 stage figures that took your warrior/wizard/whatever from scrub to demi-god... I wonder if that could be realized in plastic.
Stuff from the mass effect universe
Some halo junk, especially ODST
Marshmallow man 28mm
Star Wars terrain, Nar Shadda theme, practically everything from the universe
Old WWF wrestlers (superfly jimmy snuka, ultimate warrior...)
Exosquad
some kind of flying ghost stagecoach throne, vampire, blood vat, thing.
Obviously.
And apparently a much higher priority than plastic battle sisters or plastic IG who do not suck.
PS, how do you even store or transport that thing?
Automatically Appended Next Post: This weekend I'm painting for the first time in over a year. 100+ necromunda guys I'm turning into a guard army (which I will never ever use).
They are so much fun to paint. They have so much character. the faces are just incredible, they youths actually look younger than the gangers, they're not just shorter.
Why can't someone make something like them. In plastic. With a ton of options?
Plastic 15mm sci-fi infantry of the quality found in the PSC 15mm kits. Do it for the same price and quantity in the box and I'd probably buy far, far too many.
Some things that GW could do with the plastics are sprues of weapons and accessories for each race with a few unique heads, bodies and legs for converting characters.
Plastic Star Wars sets would sell by the truck load; but I think the best bet would be generic, multi-part civilians with lots of accessories, including weapons. These would be perfect for everything from cultists in 40k all the way through to civvies and survivors in any other game system.
endtransmission wrote: I think the best bet would be generic, multi-part civilians with lots of accessories, including weapons. These would be perfect for everything from cultists in 40k all the way through to civvies and survivors in any other game system.
that was a popular pick on Wargames Factory before the change in owners. The suggestion was a sprue of generic civilians in pseudo military gear with enough heads to make survivalists, terrorists, criminals, insurgents or whatever. Then another sprue of weapons. I remember a long debate about whether or not a chainsaw was appropriate.
In terms of GW kits, I'd buy the hell out of decent upgrade sets for different traitor legions. Hell, I'd buy them in finecast as long as they were good.
Also, call it a boring dream plastic release if you want, but the thing GW could release that would make me happiest would be a redesigned CSM squad box with the new chaos aesthetic and design elements. I'd buy those like an addict. I'd really love a havoc kit along the lines of SM devastators, too.
Outside GW, I really want to see more viking-style fantasy miniatures.

I'm not even a DnD player and I would purchase kits like this, you could make kits for each class, and have (at least) 2 sprues of extras (or extras available in separate sprues) with scrolls, pouches, equipment, loaves of bread, cloaks, hats, etc on them. Kind of like how GW (and most other mini companies) used to make minis with separate weapons (remember how you got a space marine captain in a blister, with a 'space marine weapons sprue' containing a Bolter, BP, chainsword, PW, PF that you glued to the mini's hand.
Additional sprues containing suitably magic-looking weapons, extra equipment, additional heads etc could be available for those who wanted them (think 'mordheim accessory sprue').
I built a whole city from their Gothic building kits, you get about twice as much stuff as you do in the Cities of Death kits, and since it's intact you can ruin it to your liking rather than have pre-ruined buildings.
I want plastic independent and special characters. There's no reason to do finecast. The quality of the DV starter set shows they can do awesome miniatures in just plastic. The Librarian, Chaos Lord, and Chaplain are all awesome. The only thing holding the Captain back is the weird pose. Seriously, if they just stopped using finecast and made plastic ICs, I would be extremely happy.
A Bolo. Generic 6mm Sci-Fi. If Eodus Wars Royal Empire of Man conscripts came out in Plastic I'd buy hordes. I'd also like a decent range of vehicles to go with it. Actually who am I kidding I'll buy them in metal eventually.
Have to admit the big thing on my list is a larger Stone Thrower. Like the Brettonian trebuchet but in Plastic. All joking aside for those looking for plastic Tallarns either Wargames Factory's Persians or the Perries Zouaves would be an option.

It's a cost issue, not an issue with the medium. Molds for resin/metal models are much cheaper than the expensive metal molds for plastic.

Battletech model sets of the mechs.
Ill agree for the most part, but make them big, around the size of the clix Mechwarrior minis, but much better quality. Id love to see any/all Battletech, Robotech Invid, pretty much any cool mecha.
Id also love some good plastic super hero & villain minis...again, like the clix but better quality. Some great scifi tanks would be good, in 15mm scale. There are some great ones in resin, but the prices are very high.

I had one, as well as the Madcat. After a few years of them gracing my shelf I sent them on to another owner, who I hope enjoys them as much as I did.
I almost forgot...gaming scale Star Trek The Next Generation, DS9, & Voyager TV series models. Not the crappy out of scale clix, but all the ships in scale. Start with the Enterprise C (Ambassador Class) and newer, right up to the last TNG movies. Would be great if they used the A Call To Arms Starfleet scale, 1:3788 IIRC.

That's one of those requests I see from time to time but can it really work?
Star Trek is a bit more reasonable that Star Wars with its Star Destroyers (mile long) and Death Stars but still a realistic scale means leaving out a lot of ships as too big or too small.
I mean assuming you want shuttles, runabouts, fighters etc on the low side, and a Borg Cube, DS9 or a starbase on the other, you either end up with the small ships being the size of grains of rice or the big ships being the size of shoeboxes. Even a 3" Galaxy class ship would mean a 1" Miranda and a 1/2" Defiant. Forget about shuttles etc.
Besides unless you play on a gym floor the maps will be out of scale.

Nope, skip both the large and small end. I couldnt care less about shuttles or fighters, and stations would be terrain at best. Go from the Defiant & B'rel class Bird of Prey on the small end to the Neghvar & Romulan Valdore on the large end. Im thinking ships for the Federation, Klingons, Cardassians, Romulans, Dominion as the cores, with others such as Ferengi, Breen, and all the other minor races added in as well.
The D'Deridex Warbird could be made, but in pure size and firepower it would take a small battle group of Federation ships or a few Neghvars to tackle it, so it would be maybe a small run ship. Borg Cubes are even worse...in the earlier TNG years they were invincible, even in the later years they arent much better. Id maybe do the Borg Spheres and the alternate Borg that Q influenced, but thats about all for them.
The hardest part would be getting a grip on ship capabilities, as there was much liberty taken by the various writers, and the specs for many classes varied in the alternate time line episodes as well.
1/60 scale versions of all the 3025 mechs from battletech (still wish i got the armorcast atlas when it was being sold)
There are quite a few plastic model kits and toys for 3025 Mechs that are in scale with the Armorcast Mechs. Here are the Robotech Defenders/ Macross/Dougram kits that fit with the Armorcast Mad Cat, Vulture and Atlas resin kits scale wise:
The following 1/48th scale kits were originally released by Takara and later released by
Revell as Robotech Defenders Kits. Three of the Robotech Defender versions of these kits are listed on the box front as 1/72 scale when they are actually 1.48th scale kits: Thoren, Zoltek and Condar
Interestingly enough, the kit engineering and mold designs for the Zoltek/
Shadowhawk are completely different, with the Revell kit being slightly
smaller, but not enough to worry about.
Robotech 1/48 Commando/ Takara Crab Gunner or Tequila Gunner
is just the right size for Goliath.
Robotech Thoren (actually 1/48) Zoltek/ Takara Dougram Jagd is perfect for Shadow Hawk.
Robotech 1/48 Gartan/ Takara Ironfoot is a good size for Thunderbolt.
Robotech Thoren (actually 1/48)
Takara Soltic/Roundfacer is perfect for Griffin
Robotech 1/48 Talos is too large for Wolverine, but the head could perhaps be
mounted on a Griffen body to make a Wolverine. The body size would work for making a Battlemaster.
Robotech Condar does not conform to any BattleTech Mechs and is smaller than the Griffen models.
Would work as a 40-45 ton Mech
Other Kits
Macross 1/72 Glaug Commander's Pod is a perfect size for Marauder
(The more common 1/100 scale kit is too small.)
Commander Type Tactical Pod Glaug 1/72: Arii (#AR309)
The ARII 1/72 Defender and Tomahawk (Warhammer, Rifleman) are a bit too
small to fit the the other Mechs, as is the 1/32 scale Crusher Joe Locust.
Takara Crusher Joe 1/48 scale Galleon kits a perfect for Galleons.
1/72 scale Valkyrie kits and toys
I have been looking more at the 1/72 Valkyries, both the plastic model kits and the vinyl toys. The vinyl toys are a bit smaller than the 1/72 scale plastic kits and are perfectly sized for Wasp and Stinger. The plastic kits also come in transformable versions for the building LAM variants.
Looking at the plastic Valkyrie kits next to the Takara and Revell Griffen
and Shadowhawk kits, I think adding some armor (and adding the center torso LRM 10) to the Valkyrie plasitic kit will give it enough mass to repesent a 30 ton BattleTech Valkyrie.
Add a bit more armor and the Super Valkrie jump jets and you have enough mass to represent a 45 ton Phoenix Hawk
I finally got a 1/72 scale Armored Valkyrie to look at and with modification (adding mass and correcting the weapons) it is massive enough to work for a Crusader.
Toys
In addition to the Valkyrie vinyl toys, there are the old TYCO BattleTech toys and
the more recent Joyride diecast toys.
TYCO BattleTech toys
Bushwacker
Size is good, but much work needed.
Hunchback IIC
Size is good, but needs much work.
Axeman
Size should be smaller. Chopping it up might work.
Thor
Have not seen one in person, although it appears to be very large.
Mauler
Have not seen one in person...
Joyride MWDA diecast toys
These toys are listed as 1/55th scale, theoretically making them larger than the Armorcast 1/60th scale mechs, however this is not the case.
Mad Cat
About 1" shorter than the Armorcast kit-too small for a standard Mad Cat, but will work fine as a 55 ton MWDA Mad Cat III.
Jupiter
Much too small to be a 100 ton mech, but will work as a custom 60 ton "Jupiter Junior".
Legionnaire
Is a little small for its listed 50 ton weight.
Forestry Mech
Pretty small, but but we really do not know what the industrial Mechs look like.
Could e a 15-20 version "light" of a Forestry Mech.
Many of these kits can be found on ebay (Ya gotta check every week at least). This is pretty much the only way you can get any of the unseen Mechs in this scale, so get them while (and where) you can.
I have a current hnakering for miltiary orks , not the clang it together style of orks you see nowadays , but Orks done in a fashion that has a highly organised military feel to them, but the bulk of Orks from GW (with decent tek not klunged botch ups)
