Th Derpy was So exclusive that not even Lauren Faust was able to get one. She was offering to draw Derpy and trade the drawing for one of the toys. I assume that offer was already gobbled up since her last auction of drawings had the cheapest one going for hundreds of dollars.

To quote David Willis:
"Getting Hasbro exclusives at SDCC is a full-time job in itself."
Seriously, if you have a booth or event at SDCC, you're not getting a ticket to get in a line that you'll be in all day.
However, 3 of his fans were able to grab him what he wanted, so I'm sure a Brony has stepped up for her.
Ok, I have been having fun with the 'Brohoof' picture that was just posted in this forum and the my little pony space marine army someone is doing (and doing it well)....
But I thought this was an 'ironic' thing...
So dudes, grown dudes, genuinely like and are fans of MLP?
I can laugh at the MLP spoof pictures and SM army, but actually be a fan of MLP? That seems very odd.
It's a well written series with fleshed out characters that also throws in little Easter eggs and shout outs to its fans because the creators interact with and care about them.

Fixed.
Ok, I'll drop in a small sample of Cd:EQ to make this post meaningful.
Spoiler:
As dark as their namesake suggests, the Pegasi Bloodkin are those Pegasi that forsake a normal life for one of war, replacing friends with targets and home for barracks. They are most often involved in scouting, raids and recon of enemy forces, as well as keeping a tight overwatch on the Equestrian border in tandem with border patrols based on the ground.
Although not necessarily outcasts, the Bloodkin have trouble blending back into normal society. While most soldiers of the Equestrian military can return to their normal lives successfully, they find themselves drawn back into combat, the thrill of the hunt that war brings too good to pass up. When war calls, the Bloodkin are usually the first to answer.
In contrast to the Bloodkin, the Wing Leaders are the straight and narrow military minds of the Pegasi. They drive the efforts of the aerial section of the military, which often takes the form of aerial support, elimination of key targets, fast assaults and relocation and transport of vital materials. The Wing leaders co-ordinate these movements, but do not partake in physical warfare themselves; they are mostly grizzled veterans of many wars, and now serve only in an advisory or directive role. However, there are those few that progress up the ranks in swift order, and they find themselves leading from the frontlines. It is a duty that is split in its motives, for it serves both the generals that need good leaders in every aspect of the Equestrian war-machine, and those Wing leaders who serve alongside their troops; such an honour is not turned down lightly, for it brings both pride and thrill to the young leader. Such dynamic and talented leaders are in short supply, and great demand; it is down to their superiors to ensure they are deployed to the right warzones – only then may their prodigious talent come to the fore.

Ok, you are insulting Applejack, and thereby, me.
As Applejack probably would have said herself: Ok, she is not best pony all-in-all ... and that is because there are no Best Pony as such!
.... Celestia may be debatable though.
AJ is my favorite, and she is no "background pony".
A joke? Hahahahaha .... no.
I do not find this part of "who's the best pony" to be fun.

I think we all know there is no best pony, just personal opinions. And that's all they are, opinions. I know I'm in the minority here when I say Twilight is best pony, but I also know that she isn't best pony in other's minds. It's all just personal opinion.
And no insult meant by the AJ teasing. All the Best Pony stuff I find to be particularly fun and entertaining drivel, But I must vehemently disagree with your insinuation that Celstia is even close to Best Pony. She's not even Best Princess! She can take her giant flaming ball of death straight to Tartarus!
Long Live The New Lunar Republic!

You are not alone, several others think it is irony, but i doubt they have seen very much of the "Friendship is Magic"-show.
The actual fandom is not about irony, it is, at worst, a wondering like "Howcome i like this show?".
The first explanation lies in that it is supposedly a show for young girls only, and that insinuates that it is low-quality rubbish, like the earlies versions of MLP.
However, this is not true.
When Lauren Faust designed Friendship is Magic, she draw on things that she played with the toys once, and added things she had missed back then.
See, young girls are not as stupid as girltoy-designers seem to think they are.
Also, Lauren wanted the show to be good enough for parents to be able to look at the show with their girls ... and like it as well.
I bolded some important things there.
Yes, parents.
That means adult jokes hinted at here and there, as well as a clear neccessity for characters and plots that is really well done.
So, essentially, the show may be girly, but not as "girly" as you think it is.
Plus, it seem to get better the more you watch it. ... at least for the first 5 episodes

Does it fit the rest of the Codex? ... Or rather, does it fit your vision of the codex?

She actually Is the mostly likely one I would draw next, as her and Irusk are the two casters I'm starting off with. I dream of commissioning UC77 to draw me a couple scenes of pony Warcasters standing over some pony troopers with a big Warjack behind em to use as a new cover for my Forces books.

Heh. Just had to reinstall Windows myself. Got this popup whenever I logged in when connected to the internet that covered my entire screen (no window) and disabled Task Manager that claimed to be the FBI, which said it was going to fine me $100,000 for having malware on my computer, and that, to avoid this fine and jailtime, I should use GreenDot to pay a certain amount of money to the 'specified code'.
Between that and the blatant misspellings, it was pretty obviously a ruse.

My Parents computer got that, just with West Yorkshire Police Force instead of the FBI and claiming it was child pornography on the PC and to pay them a fine or they press charges.
Anyone stupid enough to believe that the police just send you a message asking you to pay a fine for having child porn deserves to get scammed. Not to mention that we live on the South Coast so why would it be West Yorkshire police force? Silly scammers.
Can't remember how they got rid of it, I think my dad booted the PC up in safe mode which blocked the virus from activating (the screen you see is actually just a fullscreen video with a trigger linked to start up, but of course safe mode asks if you want to run any extra programs when it loads windows up) then hunted down the virus in the registry and deleted the movie files it used from the computer. Annoying but slightly better than completely re-installing everything.
Yeah. I'd have tried that, except honestly, I was getting sick of manually hunting down virii. I used to have to do that all the time. So I said, screw it, I've got the disc- REINSTALL.
Heck, for a while I went Ubuntu, just to not have to worry about that stuff. The lack of games got to me, though.
But I realized I just lost all my Minecraft stuff- I was stupid enough to forget to backup everything, and the Windows.old doesn't have any of it in there. So 2-3 Minecraft worlds, (one of which was Technic) about a month's worth of writing, and a bunch of other stuff just got flushed. Thing was just so dang annoying, though.

When my friend fixed my computer for me instead of using my base level copy of Windows he gave me a hacked version of the top level Windows. When I ran some updates here a couple months later, windows realized it was hacked and now complains about it constantly. So now I have to either fork out $200 for the key to this version of Windows, or reinstall my lower level. I've not decided which I want to do yet.

**computing student speaking** it is better for you if you instal the lower level version of windows because there is verry little differance between home premium and ultimate in termes of tools and pre instaled software. the lower versions of windows support less ram but unless you have something like 32GB of ram it shouldnt realy matter to you, i actualy recomend home premium to most people who ask as it is all the operating system you will ever need.
windows 7 is vastly superior to XP because XP will no longer be receiving updates and that will hurt its security, also software makers are stopping to support it so its not a good option atall
Derpy came in today, will snap pics of her once I can find a memory card.
Surprisingly, she's huge. Easily 3 times the size of the $5 USD blister pack ponies.
Edit: That was faster than I thought.
Rarity and Dash pose for a size comparison.
Front.
Even the back has a display window. Note the muffin in place of the 0 in 2012.
Muffin, rainbow, and SDCC seal.
I'm debating whether to free her from her cardboard prison or not, since she won't fit in with the rest of my collection and it shows her off pretty well.
So who's reading and who's avoiding the spoilers on the new season? I myself am generally trying to avoid most of em. Have picked up a few generalities, but been skipping the in depth stuff.

Kinda disappointing. Maybe Hub will order a 26-39 episode season 4.
A half season in season 3 usually indicates they are doing the minimum for syndication and terminating a series. This happens a lot. Batman - Brave and the Bold 2.5 Seasons and done. Jem 2.5 Seasons and done. Transformers Animated 2.5 seasons and done. This is not a good sign. 60something episodes is all you need for normal animated syndication. Not to be a doomsayer but given Hasbro's usual manner of doing business a half season now suggests they intends season 3 to the best last of FIM which likely means that plan to either but MLP on hiatus for a bit and just release toys riding on G4's success or retool directly into Gen5 in 2014 like what happened between Transformers Animated and Prime. T_T
Uh-huh.... *googles syndication, among other things*
And I'm back. So after researching, I have learned a few things!
The Hub is losing money, and MLP:FIM is one of it's best IPs, which means in theory MLP could outlast the Hub, and MLP:FIM is the highest ranking show on the Hub.
From that info, I find it unlikely they would terminate the series this early. if the channel is struggling, it seems... well GW levels of poor planning to cook the golden goose, if they actually expect the Hub to last long enough to grow to rival CN/Nick/Dis and sell more toys because of it.
While they could sell more toys initially through syndication, I think they could sell more by continuing the series.
To be fair, this is after like 30 minutes of googling syndication, MLP ratings, the Hub, and looking on the other Pony threads in other forums. Someone that actually knows what they are talking about can, and prolly will, prove me wrong.
(And since everyone is freaking out in the comments, season 3 was finished quite a while ago, and as far as I can see, Meghan is still working at DHX, so you can be pretty sure there are more episodes, or a movie, after season 3.)
My only problem with that prediction is it's based simply on someone who worked on MLP still being employed at the studio, as though MLP is the only thing she can and will ever work on during her career.
Keep in mind the show costs money to make but doesn't see a huge return (hence the struggling HUB network) and it is really the toys where the make their profit. So if they can stick the show into syndication and just sell toys that can save them a rather large amount of money.
A movie might make more sense as they can potentially tap into the Brony audience but it is also a large investment of money and toyline movies don't have a really good track record.
This is just speculation but it seems like it would make sense (in Hasbro's view) to stick MLP into syndication where it will continue to get high ratings and sell toys while moving the creative team onto another project to try and build up another franchise. Hasbro seems to have think that their Care Bare revival is going to be the next big thing and might be gambling that they can hit gold twice without really understanding why MLP is popular in the first place. As we've seen with the early G4 toys, they don't really get their audience and what they like or how to appeal to them. That is pretty much something only the animation team seems to understand.
liquidjoshi wrote:Let's be honest, who's going to watch Care Bears? I probably won't.
No one will, but Hasbro doesn't know that. Although they later retracted the statement one of Hasbro's higher ups was saying about how he looks forward to "Bearnies" posting CB stuff all over the internet. Not only is this insane to assume Care Bears will have an MLP like fan base, it ignores the better fan name of "Carnies".

To be fair, the Transformers Animated snafu is due to Cartoon Network(who decided to air the 1st and 2nd seasons back to back, leaving a near year gap between 2 and 3), not Hasbro. Hasbro had a 4th season planned, including having design work for the figures underway. Marty Isenberg actually wants to bring it out in comic form someday if they're able.
So I know there is at least one other Brony that goes to my local GW. Was setting up for the first game of the stores 40K summer campaign when I look up at the Marine player I'm about to go against and notice that his yellow t-shirt has three pinkish butterflies on it.
I congratulated him on it and then proceeded to table him in the name of Rainbow Dash as best pony.
My best friend growing up (the one that introduced me to 40K and sold me most of my Tau Army back at the start of 5th, when he started Vulcanmarines) talked for the first time in about a year.
We talked about the new edition and our new tactics for our armies. I mentioned I was a brony, then for the next good 30 minutes we talked MLP before making plans to get a 40k game in sometime in the next couple weeks.
So this was asked on a blog I follow and I wondered what your answers and thoughts would be. What would you do or what do you think would happen if Season Three was the last season and there were going to be no more new episodes? Would the fandom fall apart or would it rely on itself for fan content to fill the void and self perpetuate? Do you think there would still be a Bronycon and other such conventions?
Just to get this out of the way first: I'm hoping for 5-8 seasons of the series myself.
To the Actual question: I think the Fandom could probably propel itself on the fan context for about 1.5-2 years before it starts to die down, assuming nothing major happens to draw more fans in. Forum MLP threads (like this one) will probably die down, as everyone converges onto the Major sites and everyone starts keeping in contact in other fashions. I think most of us would still stay in contact after that, either through the Major sites or other methods.
Bronycon would most likely happen once more and, depending on how well it goes, maybe one more after that. Most likely not a threepeat unless something major happens that draws the fans in.
There is already a 20-year old MLP collectors fanbase that organizes its own toy fairs and meetups, going right back to G1 days.
Hell, I joined the Futurama online fanbase after it was cancelled, and that was still going strong for a full 5 years right until its renewal (shame that the renewal came too late for me to be interested it in much anymore though..).
G5 would be a dead cert 4-5 years after the end of G4, animation style might even be kept and tweaked a little... the change to anime-style ponies pre-dates FiM by quite a number of years, and hasbro won't want to retool their toy moulds if they can help it. :p
I'd say with a movie or 2 in between, the fanbase could easily persist until g5, at which point it will either continue on, or be completely dropped like a stone if Hasbro screws it up and does Bratz ponies or a more "typical patronizing juvenile" show or something equally lame.
However, Will Anderson's comment has me completely re-assured, and I can *definitely* see MLP hitting the 130 episodes + 2-3 movies mark. Hasbro's toy division is doing horribly badly, with ponies being pretty much the only thing that isn't and is instead selling like crazy (20% growth per quarter!).. I'd put good odds on them not wanting to kill the golden goose just yet.
MLP has the advantage of being cheap to produce, thanks to flash.
Carebears is going to cost 3x as much per episode due to all the top-notch CGI and look like complete crap in comparison. Cancelling MLP in the hope that bronies will all become "belly-bros" has got to be beyond the realm of even the most deluded corporate meddling.
Plus, in our favour - The daughter of Hasbro's CEO loves MLP, and Cadence was named after her. If anything, the suits might be a little biased towards the show!
If it is cancelled then here's what I see happening.
First, there'll be a huge Firefly-style drive to get it back on the air.
This will either work and we all rejoice or it won't and the fanbase will shrink slightly to a solid nucleus of committed fans, who continue to make fan content to carry it on. It continues like this until it eventually returns in which case we either rejoice that it's back and exactly how we remember or different but still great or cringe and moan because it's changed and lost the spark which drew us to it in the first place.
I think the Fandom would continue on fairly strong. The Brony phenomenon is at least as strong as the Harry Potter craze, and that's still generating fan content years after the 'finale'- The strongest contributors will end up being fan-made original content set in the world. MLP RPGs like Unkown Ponies and Pony Tales- Fanfiction, both crossover and non, such as the Fallout: Equestria, MyStara Little Ponies and Dresden Fillies style crossovers- Fan-music, created by people like The Living Tombstone and Wooden Toaster, and the fan-created animations. Dr. Whooves and Assistant, the .mov series- there's enough Bronies and Pegasisters out there who both animate, write, and do amateaur VA work (and really good quality stuff, too!) that, if the 3rd season was the final one, there'd probably be a fan-made 4th and 5th season following, barring interference from the Hasbro legal team. The MLP fandom, after all, is stupidly talented and artistic.
Iur_tae_mont wrote:So where do you guys buy your MLP shirts?
I looked online and couldn't find any that I liked.
I use red bubble for mine, there's some pretty good ones on there. it's also in the USA so you wont have to deal with the stupidly long delivery time that I had to put up with
and as for how long the fandom will carry on for after MLP: FIM stops
So I found a We love Fine shirt at the mall today and bought it.
This will help the new episode withdrawals. For now.
My parents had some questions about their college age son wearing a MLP shirt, but this isn't the first thing I've done that they've thought was strange. Hell they still think all the GW models I buy are strange. And I've been buying those for about 7-8 years now.

Good news, although no confirmation yet Daniel Ingram hinted he's been asked about a 4th season of MLP though he suggest that season 4, if it happens, like season 3 wouldn't be a traditional 2X episode season.

In the past few days, three different posts/threads/posters have made the comment "Why can't X thread exist if there's a My Little Pony thread." Apparently we are now the standard by which all other threads are to be held. This amuses me.

Alright, so I've had a small idea recently, although how good an idea it is is another point. I'll just go through it here.
Some of you might be aware of The Box and Dark's Penthouse. I don't know what has gone down between the owners of the respective sites, but The Box has, essentially, been abandoned. It is still up, and I have been told "You can come on here, but don't expect to see much happening."
So here's an idea. How about some sort of MLP rp? I'm up for it if enough people here are, and we can (probably) avoid trolls, etc seeing as it will now be a very quite site.
My only concern is if the website was suddenly shut down, but TBH if things were happening on there then I don't see a reason to shut it down.

Apparently THIS is a cannon map of Equestria coming out of Hasbro in a poster form? Not sure on this yet.
Also, leaving the comic/game shop today and the guy getting into the car next to me points at the Twilight Sparkle hanging from my rear view and gives me a big grin and thumbs up. Got a kick out of that.
Ok, I need to talk to the guys that are currently admins because they locked the RP section of the site, hopefully they'll be happy to let me have it, if not then We'll make do I guess.
My fellow bronyies! I need some help. A friend of mine wants to build a Fallout Equestria, my little pony, themed dark eldar army. But wants to use mainly GW components. I know the easiest way would be to sculpt and using dark eldar parts, on top of the blind bag ponies, I have no clue what GW product we could use in place of bland bag ponies, that would even come close to looking the part.
Alright, one final shoutout for the MLP RP, if anyone's interested please say something. I'd really like to get a couple more guys on board for it.

To end on a productive point, am I evil for not crying after reading My little Dashie?
I just feel that any Equestrian mecha should be quadripedal...
But for that Dark Eldar army, well, you could look into the GW horses- or better, try to get a whole heap of GW Ponies, from the Fantasy Dwarven Pony Cart. Might not look quite right, but with a little sculpting and some good paint jobs, should be able to get what you're after-

Also, GS is GW.
try telling that to my LGS manager apparently the "mus be 50% GW" rule whent out the window XD
'sup bronies? Tx for directing me to YouTube awhile back - my daughter is well intoa season two now. I got a question for everypony - some of them have wings (pegasus (pegasi?), some of them have horns (unicorns), but some, like princesses celestial and Luna, have both. What are they called - punicorns?
Generally they're known as Alicorns, though that's not the mythologically correct term (or rather, Alicorns in mythology were something else). But that's the term used for MLP and in many fantasy works.
They are Alicorns the original all powerful being
Here is ( hope it hasn't been posted yet )
The best MLP fanfic/music/video !
Spoiler:
Automatically Appended Next Post: I absolutely adore these pictures.
This one of Luna lamenting over the extinction of Alicorns and Celestia looking into the sky just... WOW
Not the highest quality drawing or anything, but even then these are more than enough to convey how talented the artist is
truly beautiful art. The mood is just amazing, this is like top quality story board art that manages to be captured in a single picture....
Iur_tae_mont wrote:Man, I hope they adopt that story as actual canon.
You know they cannot ever have have it as officcial canon, right?
One, it speaks about deaths of a lot of Alicorns.
... And that is one no-no + something that hasn't been even indicated, yet, and it may even go against the current officcial canon.
Parts of it may work with the officcial canon, but not all.
Also reflect upon, that Lauren may already have decided the officcial story for Discord ...
I doubt they'd put that kind of thing into a show like this. Not in our day and age.
Ah, I miss the good old days, when there was little screening of what went on TV and into films, when kids could run about in the streets licking paint from houses and getting run over by buses, only to return home and have their mothers apply Dettol to the wound before unleashing them upon the world again... Ah, the good old days...
I just really want an episode dedicated to Celestia, filling in the gaps like the events that led to Nightmare Moon/overthrowing Discord.
They could do a two part episode were Celestia has to help the Mane 6 deal with A Big Bad involving, all the while she has flashbacks of the past events with Discord/NMM that are similar to what is happening/has happened in the past episode.
.... Have you ever heard of W.I.T.C.H, Winks, .... or just about any Shoujo-Manga? (the two mentioned are west-made, not manga, by the way.)
When you aim to get different characters, you easily end up with different variants of stereotypes.
It's as simple as that ....
....
Unless i have misunderstood the meaning of the word "expy"......
Expy: Several
From Buffy the Vampire Slayer, we have Tiffany Winters(Of Buffy herself) and time will tell if Dusky(her brother) is of Dawn(Buffy's sister).
From Ranma ½, we have Ash, of Ranma himself.
From My Little Pony Friendship Is Magic, we have the whole Mane Six: Chastity of Rarity, Skye of Fluttershy, Rosie of Pinkie Pie, and, according to the tags, Rain of Rainbow Dash, AJ of Applejack and Sparkle of Twilight Sparkle
Doubt it will be cancelled. There was a thing from a dude that works on the show saying that there would be more seasons, this one is just going to be shorter.

Just thought this would be interesting to MLP fans, even though it is a bit tasteless.
Ok, it is obvious i spoke before i had read enough ..... XD
However, I'd say that Tiffany is WAAAY too different from Buffy to be an expy of her.
It is possible she started our more Buffy-like in another of those comics, but in the comic you linked to, she is nowhere near as Buffy-like.
I also spotted what i think is another notable expy, namely an adult variant of "Magister Negi Magi", that is, Negi from Negima!.
I mean, glasses, genlemannic, (almost?) alone male teacher in a school full of girls ....
... Makes me think ...
I must check out if there are any "My little Negima!" ....

Playing a war game and collecting ponies because you are obsessed with a little girl's show are two wildly different things.
Its an excellent cartoon. I've watched every episode. Lauren Fast is extremely talented. That said, collecting the toys, writing or reading pony fanfiction, putting ponies in everything, etc, is weird.
If you enjoy it, don't justify yourselves to me. I find collecting scantily clad anime/manga figurines equally disturbing.

In what way is collecting plastic pony toys different to collecting plastic space marine toys? Not everyone who buys the models plays the game so to assume that people buy the plastic space marines solely for the purpose of using them in a game is fallacious.
How is writing or reading pony fanfiction any different to writing or reading fanfiction based on any other subject? If it is well written then I see no reason not to read it. If reading about anthropomorphic animals is weird then everyone who read Watership Down or The Wind in the Willows is weird.

Just because one is teaching little children that are boys about war,
doesn't mean its different from teaching little children that are girls about friendship and kindness.
Why are you trying to justify your obsessions? Nothing you can say will make me consider hardcore bronies to be any less weird. That doesn't mean you're a danger to anyone, or a menace to society. You're just weird. It's not really a big deal unless you allow it to alter the way you live and interact with other people.

Why would I justify anything? Im merely pointing out both crowds are obsessing over same thing.
By making the false assertion that 40k and MLP are somehow the "same thing" you're attempting to justify your MLP obsession under the basis that it is no worse or better than 40k.
Amaya wrote:By making the false assertion that 40k and MLP are somehow the "same thing" you're attempting to justify your MLP obsession under the basis that it is no worse or better than 40k.
In what way is it false? How is collecting pony toys different to collecting 40K models?
While I have yet to buy the toys( I do have a couple shirts though), I see nothing wrong with people doing so.
You usually support franchises you like by buying stuff. If you like 40k, you usually buy 40k stuff. You like MLP, a show designed to sell merchandise, it doesn't seem too farfetched that you would purchase said merchandise to support the Franchise.
I don't see how 40k and MLP fans are all that different. Society looks at both fandoms as if we are the scourge of the earth. Are all people who play wargames neckbeards and socially inept people? No. Are all bronies weirdoes who read the bad fanfics and typify the sterotype of a nerd? No.
Right now you are labeling some MLP fans as our culture labels wargamers. I don't see what's wrong with collecting the toys of any franchise. If you enjoy having them and displaying them then go for it.
The line is crossed when you become the actual stereotype, which most nerds never fall into. The actual stereotype being a creepy person, but fandoms don't make you creepy. Those nerds are the one who gives each fandom a bad name. Those people are already creepy before they enter the fandom. Labeling someone just because they buy toys is ridiculous simply because you don't know what they do with them. Until you actually know what they do with their toys don't sit there and say they are weird.
I haven't played a game in a FLGS this year simply because I find most of the other people who do play 40k weird (and the fact every FLGS is filled with card games and stripperiffic manga/comics doesn't help) so using that argument doesn't really sway me.
Something I've learned is that 90% of people aren't swayed by any argument so I wasn't expecting you to suddenly change. I'm merely pointing things out.
Amaya, you can't come onto a thread like this, say something that will rile people and go "Lalala I'm not listening to you, i'm right you're wrong." without expecting people to react. We're not going to try and persuade you of anything; as a Catholic I've found that the best approach is to say "Believe whatever the feth you want." Indeed, that's what I want you to do - believe what you want. But don't be a douche about it.
Iur_tae_mont wrote:To be fair, Malus beat me to it, because he tabled someone that said Fluttershy was best pony earlier in the thread with his Tau I believe.
Eeyup.
Obviously Tau are lethal when being used by a player who understands that Rainbow is best.

The local who says Fluttershy is best regularly whips my arse in Warmachine. At least the other local brony correctly agrees that Pinkie Pie is Best Pony.
Anvildude wrote:Not sure about best (though she is), but Rarity is certainly the most Sophisticated Pony.
Marshmallow beauty pone is pretty hardcore.
I'm kinda jealous over the battles of Best Pony you folks seem to be able to have at the FLGS, pretty sure with the crowd at my FLGS I'd be mocked mercilessly for my pony t-shirts. That said as a Marine 0 Feths given. So I need to find someone to battle in Luna's name.
I don't know if any one here hangs out on the pony IRCs but I'm PonyMarine on EQD's "Study" channel.
That picture creeps me out a little Dark. It's like, parts of it are awesome, and parts of it less so. and mixed together it gives off this really weird vibe to me.
liquidjoshi wrote:Oh. The Alfa legion. That explains it.
Seriously, throwing big letters at us isn't creative, constructive or good. Don't like the topic? Don't go in the thread. Simple.
Whose the Alfa legion?
And before anyone gets wise, the AlFa legion, not the AlPHa legion.
The Alfa legion are the chapter kept by the youtube user Alfabusa (who, in fairness, does great videos). The Chapter is a group on Steam, and this is the behaviour typical of that group.
I'm so happy I have no idea what you're talking about...
Also, for months I thought there were no bronies here, and now we gathered quite a few (around 100 in my city) with cool meeting on the last 29th ( recount in English if someone has free time) and met again a donzen last weekend, and the remaining took this silly pic at a neat McDonalds
Isn't that more or less what any convention for any fandom is like?
As much as I hate to say it, but some people do not know how to act in public. Mostly due to too much Internet and not enough ass whippings from the parents when they were little.

I've been to some big anime cons in the country and I've never had anyone around me behave like that. *shrug*
@Aduro Goddess I sure hope so, with any luck an official statement from the EFNW staff will respond.

For obvious reasons, I wasn't there, but a lot of tumblr's whose mods I follow went "I was there and when did all that happened?"
Yay, more people grouping us together and ripping on us because of the acts of a minority. Great.
Seriously, I'm getting bored of about 2% of the community being utter gakbags and everyone else going "Bronies must all be like this because those ones were like it." While I am not advocating their actions, as it was inexcusable, I do object to being grouped with them just because.
I'm sure that post is either a lie because that person doesn't really care for MLP or there is some truth to it and it was blown out of proportion because its the internet. In my experience there will always be people like that and whoever that is needs to just get over it IMO. I'm sure these 'bronies' if they even exist were teens thinking they were cool and funny.
I have to mention that my FiM/WH40K project is ... Under severe risk of not getting finished ... just like almost all of my projects before it......
This feels hurtful to me, there are people that has shown clear interest that i don't want to make disappointed, but at the same time i have had severe problems finding more direct support when i had gotten my lows and wierd blocks.
Several people say "Just talk with me", but when i need to talk, they are either unavailable, ot do not understand at all ... or even worse, have gotten tired from eariler attempts to help, that didn't work .... and i do not want to mess up this thread with my problems, either.
Also, now, there is a risk that this post ends up low down on a page ... so perhaps not very many may see this .. well, perhaps the ones that should read it (i have no idea who they may be ... ).
Is this a desperate cry for help?
... Perhaps it is .... I'm not certain myself.
Had i been certain it was, it is possible that i would not be able to post it ...
Tiina, I've been the victim of lack of mojo myself, as well as seeing others with it. I always have the same motto: if you're not feeling it, don't force it. Wait until you are feeling up to it then go for it. I hear chocolate is good for a lack of mojo. ANother idea would be to dedicate one day to it (before the day actually comes preferably), sit down and just grind it.
The key to making a good game in this 'low' graphics style is Cause and Effect.Every action the player is allowed to take should have an Effect, and this holds true all the way from Mario to Morrowind, from Pong to Planetside.
In Pong, when you allow the ball to strike the paddle at a certain point, it will deflect in a certain angle. This is consistent, this is regular. It allows you to create strategies and tactics, and pull them off, knowing what will happen. In Mario, if the Player jumps on a Koopa, they can grab its shell. If they jump on a Spikey thing, they get hurt, if they jump in a hole, they die. These are basic gameplay rules, and though they have exceptions, they generally hold true.
In Morrowind, every piece of story affected something, whether it was standing in your guild, or how many guards hated you, or who would be willing to sell you what for how much. In that game, you had many more choices than "Run, Jump, Duck", but each choice, every thing you as the player Caused, had an Effect.
Don't fall into the trap of making pretty scenery and interesting character models, and thinking that's what a game's about. You could make a game like Dwarf Fortress, where each pony is a blob of pixels with a color and a cutie mark, and as long as you made it interesting, game a reason to do behind every action, it would end up engaging.
What I suggest, is to take a look at everything you want the Characters to be able to do, and think about what will happen because of that action. And I'm talking down to the detail- if, when you first spawn in, you decide to go right, what happens? If you decide to go left, what happens? This could be as simple as 'you hit a wall' to as complex as having wildly different effects on how the whole arc of the game goes. (personally, I'd suggest having something in one direction that you can't pass, but that will give information about the story and setting that may cause the 'first' encounter of the game to go differently).
Also, depending on how much art material you have, look at (experiment!) with different styles for the game, different views. Would it be possible to do it in an isometric, Diablo/Arcana style? Would that help the game? What about a JRPG (old school) style where it's semi-isometric, but viewed square on, like Pokemon or Dragon Warrior? Do you prefer the straight side view, ala Mario and Megaman? What about pure top-down? Go to the next level and take it into 3-d graphics? (I could help with that if you decide to go that route.)
And each of those views has an effect on gameplay, and on how you'd go about using Cause and Effect- but still, I'd say do that. Write out a web, figure out the story you want to tell, before getting too deep in coding.

Thank you, i got a little done at least, and that meant i could finally rest my head from it a bit, on purpose.
I do not expect this momentum to last, it usually don't, but i can at least take it for what it is, and do some, even if it just is a little.
Again, Thank you

To me, the looks are important, but the gameplay is even more important.
And so is keeping a good enough canon-mixture.
Each are important in their own way, and for their own reasons.
I'm fond of metroidvanias, with hidden items here and there, as well as things that needs to be collected, and things that may be collected for bonuses.
I'm also fond of the possibility of using different characters, but i may have to wait with that a while.
I do have some ideas for "blocked areas", but thank you for reminding me.
I'm very fond of the 2D side-view, and my skill at pixelling and coding is currently not as good at the other mentioned alternatives, even thought a top-down view would help a part of the game. I have speculated on making a pure top-view variant for a far more strategy-based game later, though.
I have speculated on using ... semi-isometric? ... i think rather of Double Dragon and Final Fight, though.
But i think i need to fix this as 2D first, before i speculate on learning another trick better( i might be able to do semi-isometric already, but i'd rather not bother with it yet).
On graphics, i currently also have a problem in adapting fitting WH40K-weapons for the ponies, and placing them so it looks good..
