I love anvil's stuff, and I just noticed the bionic greatcoat legs... Awesome!
But £3.50 for TWO pairs of legs? We are already paying £1 per pair of legs which is a bit expensive but fine, but £1.75 per dude to give them bionic legs? What gives? Part of the leg looking robot makes it cost nearly TWICE as much?
I was going to do another 20 guardsmen with full anvil bits just to have some bionic legs to mix in, but TWICE the cost of normal legs is ridiculous to me.
Anvil has had to pay someone to sculpt the item and then make a more intricate mould to cast that part, which, in all likely hood, isn't going to sell as well and will need to have a higher price in order ensure any shortfall in the lower amount sold.
All of Anvil's stuff has to be sculpted and it's all about the same complexity and niche nature. I don't feel like your explanation applies a sufficient amount here.
All things might indeed need to be sculpted, but it is potentially (I haven't seen the legs, nor are my sculpting skills capable of providing me with any really input on any potential time difference) a more intricate sculpt. More time for the sculptor = more money = higher initial cost that needs to be balanced.
Their items might be niche in nature, but here we are talking about a niche within a niche. Un-mechanised greatcoat legs have a greater potential market than mechanised (I would think).
There is also the possibility that they're aware they are (perhaps?) the only ones that make said mechanised legs, and can profit handsomely until another small resin manufacturer does. So I guess there is that possibility too.
It could be a pricing mistake; a bug in the system; an introductory price...
Any answer from anyone bothered to answer your question is likely to be supposition; you could submit your question to Anvil privately and be much more likely of a definitive answer.
The question regarding pricing on the greatcoat bionics was put to me privately, but as it was also asked publicly, I feel its appropriate to copy my answer below. I am always happy to be upfront and honest about all aspects of Anvil Industry including our pricing structure.
---------------
Pricing is always tricky, balancing the need to make a profit vs wanting to price fairly.
Part of the price charges goes toward the actual manufacturing process - materials and labour - but the majority goes toward the time required to design the product in the first place, fixed overhead costs, and investment in expanding our range.
As a rule, the more of something we sell, the cheaper we can sell it because the cost of designing it in the first place is spread over more individual sprues.
We sell probably about 10 sprues of regular long greatcoat legs for every set of bionic legs because most people only want a few.
The extra leg bits on the sprue are there to allow conversions with the regular long great legs, so you can get a bit more pose variety. You can probably get 4 bionic leg figures from each sprue with a bit of clipping and modelling.
-------------
Some one raised the point about being the only manufacturer of bionic greatcoat legs on the market (I believe this is the case), and thus being in a position to charge what ever we like.
This is interesting and worth expanding on, if you are interested in the dull economics of running a wargaming business.
I have never thought that the entire purpose of Anvil Industry is to make maximum profit from our operation, but turning a profit is the most important objective (as without profit the company ceases to exist pretty rapidly).
Lets say we want to make maximum profit from our bionic greatcoat legs:
A. We put them up for £80 per sprue. A ridiculous price for a wargaming product and literally no one buys them, the cost of making the product, probably around £150-£300 (It is hard to calculate exactly), is the loss we make.
B. Alternatively, we put them up for £0.50 per sprue, an absolute bargain, and everyone who wants to buy bionic legs orders lots
However, even at £0.50 there is a limit to the number of people who know about our webstore and want bionic greatcoat legs, so there will a maximum number of sprues sold. Say we sell 1000 sprues. We've made revenue of £500, but with the cost of manufacturing, we actually end up making a similar loss to the first example.
C. We charge £3.50 per sprue. We sell 50 sprues since launching the bionics range earlier this year. This is the actual figure I just pulled out of sales data. It's not as high as I would have liked. Revenue of £175 means we have to sell at at least another 50-100 sprues before we break even on product development. We probably will sell that many but it will take some time.
Luckily, we have lots of products, and some of them make us lots of money. The products which make us huge profits allow us to take risks and add products to the range which may or may not sell well.
If we charged £2.50, we would have to have sold around 70 sprues instead of 50 to make the same revenue, and even more to make the same ultimate profit.
If we charge £4.50, we could sell 38 instead of 50 and make the same revenue, but more profit (less work to make 38 sprues). Would we still have sold 50 sets at a higher price?
For each product, there is a perfect price point at which sales volume vs profit per item maximizes overall profit. Figuring out what that price is, is extremely difficult, and there have been many many books written about it!
If you want to purchase some bionic long greatcoat legs, you can do so HERE.
---------------------------
If you want to purchase our newest product, its CANDLES.
16 tiny resin candles for £3. Is that expensive? It's hard to price very niche products because there is very little to compare them too.
A couple of other manufacturers already offer 28mm scale candles. We looked at their prices, and our sprue is a bit cheaper.
The way sales are going, we will have made more money from candles by the end of this week than we have in several months selling the bionic long greatcoat legs.
Perhaps we should release bionic candles?
We will have some robed cultist models available soon, hopefully by the end of August or mid September.
Hmm I personally never had a problem with AI's pricing for the quality they bring onto the table (workbench?), especially when considering that the kit contains 4 bionic greatcoat legs plus 2 regular bionic legs. Seems like a fair deal for £3.5 or almost 4€. Just my 2 cents, though.
Barzam wrote: Didn't you guys have some boiler suited bodies in the works? What happened with them?
They are on the way!
We are a bit understaffed, trying to balance fulfilling the DBR Kickstarter punctually with keeping up some regular releases.
The next release, fairly soon, is Robed cultists.
Boiler suit renegades will follow on after that, then heavy armour traitor infantry.
Hopefully all this stuff will come out before the end of the year, with a retail release of the Daughters in early 2019, but this may be wishful thinking on my part unless we can hire a few more people.
It's been a year since I first ordered a squad of five guys as a test. Now I'm fully hooked and building an army with your models. The quality and service has been great.
If any of you guys are interested, I've started a showcase thread for these little guys. here
The "Spent Ammo Casings" sprue was spray primed with Krylon Flat Black, then painted with a Base of of Vallejo Model Color - Gold ( 996 ) for the bare brass casings and Mechrite Red for the shotgun shell casings.,
This was allowed to dry before cutting off the sprue with a pair of Hobby Snips and glued down with Gorilla Super Glue, then given a Wash of Devlan Mud after the glue was allowed to dry thoroughly.
The Spent Ammo Casings were Highlighted with Vallejo Gold again while the shotgun shell casings got a Layer of Mephiston Red, making for a trench that saw a lot of action!

Can't link as on phone, but Anvil have put up some Halloween themed stuff. Pumpin heads that scale for Regiments models, loose pumpkins for a pumpkin patch, carved jack o'lanterns and Vampire hunter who also has the option of a pumpkin head.
There's also a new regiments platoon deal, 'First rank , second rank'. Which describes what you get pretty well.
Joel's mentioned a few things in the KS updates, they've been casting shed loads of stuff for the KS fulfilment, dealing with staff absence as well as bringing on and training additional staff.
They're still quite active on Facebook, so if you want to see what's going on that's always a good place to check. Last week they went to a UK trade show, prepping for which is another sort of thing that can slow them down.
To say we've been extremely busy these past few months would be a significant understatement..
Trying to keep on top of regular orders and gear up to fulfil a big Kickstarter, whilst also working on some major business development projects (which I'll be excited to talk about early next year) has been extremely taxing.
Regular releases and promotions are taking a back seat for a while.
We are gearing up for a huge 2019 though, watch this Anvil.
I've been checking out your C-48 Warden Mech's. I know they aren't in stock and you are quite under the pump to do fulfillment for your KS, but will they be coming back into stock any time soon? I was thinking these would make great alternative Tau Steal Suits. But to do that they would require a weapon like the miniguns from the Ajax Exo-Mechs. If the Wardens come back to being available again, is it possible to get the miniguns as separate parts to add to them to have this design work? Just wondering. Cheers!
@FenrisWulf - I am afraid as you have guessed, it is likely to be a while before we can replace the warden mould, or any other lower priority out of stock products.
It is likely be be 6 months before we are back to a normal schedule of replacing all moulds as soon as they wear out.
The conversion you suggest sounds interesting. I think the minigun from the ajax will be a little on the large size for the wardens, which are quite a bit skinnier.
Yo! Just a suggestion for your Regiments range - we’re currently starting up a Vraks campaign at H.A.T.E and, given that FW have discontinued their Renegade Militia range, it would be amazing if some enterprising miniature company were to make some Gas Hood Heads. It seems that, while loads of companies make gas masks, there isn’t anyone currently making the sort of hood those models were known for.
Robed Cultists Our Robed Cultists have finally landed! As usual you can configure your own custom squads with a variety of options, from Heavy Weapons to female minis, with nearly all of our weapons available.
Or just pick up a sprue for conversions and of course, one of the Cult Leader (above) or Priest character models.
Everything looks awesome! They will make great models for both chaos cultists and also imperial ones. I really like the decorative masks as well and the robed priests are really well designed,
I usually do a Friday check on their FB page when I get home from work, but this is a fun lunch break surprise. Love the elf emptying a sack full of grenades and that Exo-Lord looks like a next logical progression given the improvements in sculpting the company have made.
If that concept is where the exo lords are headed I will definitely be picking up quite a few. He looks like an awesome blend of 40k and Fallout power armour!
Just got home to find my Black Ops Sniper has arrived - stunning model. Anvil have done a great job. Really looking forward to getting a chance to paint it
Got a Black Friday grab bag from Anvil and its pretty amazing, they shipped on the 29th and rather than take the month they said it arrived today!
Even worse than that though it contains enough bits to make about 15 complete guardsmen from all across the range! Its almost like they are conspiring against my wallet.
Whats really bad though is they didn't even include a single badly cast piece (out of probably 120), why do they do this to me...
Really love the bearskin and Sikh heads, lovely detail and great character.
My BF order is on its way and should hopefully be here soon. Can't wait to crack open my grab bag!
Didn't order much in the way of exo-lords and regiments, but did get some of their boutique stuff (barring the Blacksmith, which was out of stock). So should have some fun character minis to paint up.
I got my sniper in the mail yesterday night. Took him out of the box and put him together today. Absolutely amazing 10/10 model, and the barrel of the sniper rifle came out straight as an arrow, I didn't have to do any straightening at all. I don't know how they managed that.

They hire wizards.
We hire normal humans and train them to be wizards
I'm about to finalize my KS manager decisions and I have a question...
(I mean, I can guess the answer, but I want to make sure)...
Is it possible to get additional head sprues somehow? I'd like to do some conversions using some of the burning rose parts without it screwing up the squads I'll be getting.

Completely missed the grab bag would have loved to have ordered one, aww well maybe next time?
Merry Christmas! We are in for a few days to keep things under control.
@Aesthete - Unfortunately you guess correctly. There is no way to add separate parts at the moment, we are keeping it simple for the time being. Separate parts will be available with the retail launch.
You do get 6 heads per 5 daughters, so will have some spares included!
@Carlos - we will likely do the grab bags again for Black Friday next year.
@Barzam - Looks great! Thanks for the photo.
Bit short on updates recently - We are rather busy with our Kickstarter production and fulfillment, and hope to have more regular releases start to come out in a few months time.
Next up is another PMC release, hopefully some time in January but may well end up February at this rate!
My first thought was everyone's favourite beekeeper look-a-like science terrorists AIM.
Lot of cool stuff in this release: big and small gun tractors, servo arm/bomb disposal arm, flying drones with weapon or camera and crawler sentry gun.
That bomb disposal arm gives me some ideas, but with the arm being fixed in pose, that makes things a little more difficult.
Joel, any chance you could consider doing just a set of spare servo arms and mechadendrites? Even better would be if the servo arms could be assembled in different poses and the mechadendrites were a thin resin that could be heated up and posed. I've had a project in mind for making the various mutated Genestealer Cultists into regular humans, but I'd need to replace their third arms with mechanical ones. Problem is, there's not much available on the market to do that. If you did a set of industrial cybernetic limbs, possibly with a very simple backpack piece to mount them to, that would be perfect.

I do hope you will branch out for your regiments line and add arty options and melee options for the squad / platoon builder, other than that, i"D say you do good.

I have some fairly mangled second hand Scions floating around I'd like to try with some of the bits and bobs and a female pmc head or two. I also quite like the idea of that bandana-masked one as a Sentinel pilot or the headset one as a Tanker for one of the guiltily unassembled Leman Russes languishing in shoeboxes currently.
If I really like the look of them, some of my Cadian guardsdudes will be visiting the guillotine...

I did recently replace the head of one of my leman russ commanders with one from anvil, size fits perfectly so yes i can imagine that that works.

Brilliant, thank you. I always liked the look of Anvil's stuff, but now I have a good excuse to get some, and I have a pool of unfinished surplus IG models that came with Start Collecting boxes, waiting for female heads or accessories I liked. So this will bully me into putting them together at last. Great stuff, I LOVE the aviators, looking forward to experimenting.
I actually think Anvil heads scale way better with GW Imperial Guard stuff than the official heads which are too big which also means they don't go great on Anvil bodies).
Hey Joel, nice female additions to your range, the regiments parts are proving to be really useful for all sorts of projects at my house !
Here's your Drone controller arms used with alien parts, I think I'll add the dish and stuff from your kit as gubbins to the drone, me and my son think it looks awesome !
..and here are my recently purchased female PMCs with heads from Pig Iron. For.. reasons. The (new?) leg and torso system is great. If I have one request, it is that you switch out the left arm of set E. It is at such a weird angle that it is hard to find a good use for it. I chopped up the shoulder and did a hand switch in this case.. but "reaching for mag", "holding helmet under arm" or even a "squad, halt" pose would probably be more useful.
On the topic of requests, some jump kits wouldn't go amiss! Neither would a spure of more acrobatically positioned arms
Salute 2019 We will be at this year's Salute at the London Excel on 6 April on stand TG15.
Due to the size and complexity of our product range, this year we will only be bringing special edition character models for sale, as well as a limited number of bitz bags.
If you would like to pickup anything else from our range you will need to order it on the website no later than Tuesday 2 April, and select the free "Collect at Salute" shipping option. We will then have it ready for you on the day.
Bitz bags will only be available to buy on the day, not reserved in advance so get there early to avoid disappointment!
We will also be running some Afterlife Volume 2 beta demo games, so if you are interested in trying out the new rules come along on the day and ask the team.
And..
New Commissars We will also be making our new line up of commissars available to buy at Salute, ahead of the general release!
Check out the artwork below and come see the minis in the resin. For everyone that can't make it to the show the website release date will be announced soon.
The anvil ladies and gentlemen at salute were informative and helpful which was really nice. My girlfriend was excitedly looking at the Kickstarter miniatures and can’t wait for them to be released for sale.
We picked up a grab bag each and made some miniatures and will certainly be picking up some regiments in the future.
If I could make a suggestion I'd like to see multi-pose powerfists. I like Anvil's design and they're like the hardest melee weapon to pick up in Imperial Guard sizes.
I've recently picked up some Anvil mulit-pose robotic arms, robots, and female mercs which are awesome.
My pledge just came through. Spent a good 20 minutes investigating it and the casting is pretty much flawless, a bit of minor flash and a couple of very small mould lines only.
Not a surprise, Anvil's quality is always great, but good to see it maintained on a big project like the KS.
Yeah, I'm definitely regretting not having enough funds to stretch to one of those war engines - looks amazing. Definitely saving for one of those when it hits retail.
I've been going through what i did get from the kickstarter though, and (as always) the casts are flawless, and everything is just gorgeous.
I haven't had time to assemble any of the troops yet, but I just had to put the Saint & Martyr together:
It's beautifully balanced too - looking at how tall, and how relatively top heavy the design is, I thought i would have to put it on a big base to stop it from toppling over, but no, it stays up perfectly on its own. great stuff.
Finally got my stuff today - absolutely beautiful, just as I expected from Anvil.
I really like that the resin sprues are shaped like rubble, so after I trim the minis I have free basing material as well. It's a nice design both for making good bases and reducing waste.
We are planning 2/3 futher waves of releases including female models, more characters and more weapon options.
We are almost done with our Kickstarter fulfilment and studio move, at which point I hope we can start engaging with the community more and releasing new stuff a lot faster.

Any chance of seeing the afterlife minis restocked ? Really want to expand on them but they have been out of stock for so long now, real shame as I backed quite a bit of money in it and it kind of has been left dead in the water.

Absolutely.
I know it has been a long time, but we do talk about it in the office! The game development is on hiatus, but definately not cancelled, and the model range will return in the future!
We have another 3-6 months of work ahead of us preparing our new studio and catching up with a backlog of releases, but Afterlife 2ed edition is in slow development

Great news but any chance we will see a restock of the current range ?
@LDD - Yes they will be restocked when we get a chance to remake molds - thats the part we don't have any time for at the moment unfortunately. The same reason a lot of Exo-Lord products are OOP.
Ragsta - No current plans, but I will discuss it with the team.
@barzam - Yes, already sculpted and should be out in wave 2/3

Good to know just really want to expand my afterlife models, they have a multi purpose use and seems a shame that we can’t get the current range.
Would it be an idea to write a list of which models I’m after ? So they can at least be the front of queue when production happens.
Speaking of Afterlife stuff, do you guys happen to have any concept artwork or sketches of what you're planning for it whenever you get back to it? I'd be curious to see what you have planned for CRANE.
Not for a while.. The website is a bit of a mess at the moment. We are working on a complete over hall due to go live some time later this year, which will be a lot more user friendly.
@Tyranid Horde - Thanks!
@Barzam - No I am afraid no new concepts. The team have been working on a second edition of the rules, but design work for new factions has not begun barring a few scribbles in my sketch book from a couple of years ago which are not fit to show off!
@LDD - No not really - there are people waiting on most of them, and we will start with the ones we get requests for most often.
Very recently I found this picture (spoilered below), which just about perfectly encapsulates the Space Marine look in my opinion. I believe, but am not certain, that the torso and legs are produced by Anvil Industries for the Exo-Lords line. Would it be possible to confirm this?
Yeah Anvil made the legs and torso, both are no longer being produced unfortunately. They are revamping the line in the future though so I would keep an eye out for any new stuff you like the look of!
Good to hear that Afterlife is still 'on the books' and not dead - while there are some small scale cyberpunk/transhumanist setting skirmish games out there, imo there's definitely room for a proper minis wargame in that kind of setting

Shucks, that's a shame. I was worried that might be the case, but hopefully the new line will keep the style much the same.

Is that revamp happening in my lifetime?
Don't know about that specifically, but I think we'll be hearing a lot more from them in the coming months than we have.
The Kickstarter is fulfilled and they're completing the move to a new workshop. Some of their KS updates indicated that they were also training a few new staff for a lot of 2019 so far.

I think they'll be exclusively primaris/true-scaled/tallboi-sized. The old range was retired soon after Primaris released, iirc, and the pictures show them being quite a bit taller. It's the reason why I'm hoping for hooped, reinforced legs. I've got enough mkiii legs but making those guys taller is a real chore
Anvil, any ETA for when the Afterlife range will get a restock? Most of the Republic range is out of print. We're really keen to go exclusively Anvil for a near-future campaign under the Deadzone ruleset - have to say we're waiting with bated breath! Loving the Regiments range so far and curious about the exo-lords too.
We have been super busy lately with finishing the Kickstarter (now complete) and moving to our new studio, which is mostly complete!
Apologies for the rather sporadic updates and releases in the past year or so. We hope to do better in future.
Exo-Lord revamp -
First wave hopefully end of September, with a second wave before Christmas possibly. We will put out more information nearer the time.
They will indeed be exclusively in the 40mm ish scale, comparable in size with newer and bigger offerings from elsewhere. We may look at offering some parts in a smaller scale closer to our old models, but its not certain.
Heads, pads, backpacks, guns etc will be compatible with both old and new scales still.
Afterlife reissue-
aiming to get all the existing products back in stock before the end of the year, with updated and new miniatures available in 2020 along with an updated ruleset.
Daughters retail launch -
It might be just before Christmas 2019, but Q1 2020 is more likely.
Renegades wave 2 -
Due before Christmas, but I cant be more specific at the moment unfortunately.
It might be just before Christmas 2019, but Q1 2020 is more likely.
On that subject, glued together fingers aside (my clumsiness), can I say how much I've enjoyed receiving the Daughters Kickstarter products. The Arch Angel in particular is a fantastic model. I may have to pick up a Death at retail.
@Crimson - I'll try and get better at updating this page! I've become lazy because others are so good at doing it for me. We've not actually shared a lot of previews yet.
@alphaecho - Thanks very much! Glad you are enjoying them
@Ragsta - It's not hugely likely that we will release medieval regiments arms - the fatigue and robed arms we already do are both pretty good options, as are the renegade arms for a certain style of medieval warrior, so I am not sure how we would make them different enough to be worthwhile..
@Miniholic and Barzam - New stuff is bigger, new heads are bigger, but its quite easy to rescale regiments heads to be a little bigger, so its likely a fair few design styles will make their way across. No firm plans yet.
@Ragnar69 - Thanks for sharing! They look great
@Not Online!!! - We did, and I intended to do and will do in future when we get a chance (See below).

More general update on Company happenings -
We have now moved across into our new studio. Lots of sorting and organising to do still but things are fully operational and orders are going out the door in good time.
We have a few more weeks more organising and resting to do, so I anticipate starting to gear things up a bit in September. As we have had almost 2 years of being very Kickstarter focused, we are looking forward to spending some time on our existing ranges and re-releasing some old favorites including the exo-lord range.
Happy to answer any more specific questions anyone may have
Hadn't realised until very recently, when I needed a pilot and crew for a 'ship-to-ship shuttle', the conversion potential of the 'regiments' range...

Dwartist, being both an excellent customer and excellent painter, got a box of pre-release models to work on, and i am very excited to see the finished result!
The release of the new Black Ops is scheduled for some time in the next month hopefully. We are waiting on the launch of our new website which will have a lot of new features.
There are a LOT more photos of the Black Ops sprues on Dwartists blog here:
Anvil, I have a head request for you. Any chance of getting some more space suit helmets? I'd love having a variety of astronaut helmets for my Genestealer Cult, but nobody seems to make any aside from your armored gothic space helmets.

This. Nobody makes anything close to a MK50 Pressure Suit!

Gotta be honest, not a fan of the new Black OPs models. Too generic sci-fi for me I think. I loved the older steam knight exo-lord armor variants. But this totally falls flat for me.

i need more fodder for my R&H however i am waiting for the platoon bundles, that's easier to order and on that sweet sweet mask on the art with the steelhelmet.
A few hours ago we shut down our old website for the last time.
It has been loyally creaking along for over 7 years, but it has not been fit for purpose for a while now.
The good news is, we are working on a new version which should go live later this evening!
The new website will include many new improvements:
-New smart search bar
-Tags and Filters
-Much clearer and easier to use Custom Squad builders
These will make it faster and easier to find the products you are looking for.
-Reward Points! Earn up to 5% of your purchase back as credit on a future order within 6 months.
-Automatic Stock Tracking This wont affect how customers use our website, but will mean we can ship orders even faster and have fewer products out of stock.
Keeping exact track of stock does mean that we will no longer be able to make custom changes to orders (swapping sprues around on request in squad builders) which will negatively impact some customers, but we have tried to mitigate this by including as many options as possible in the builders to start with.
-The retail launch of our Daughters of the Burning Rose - Over 100 new products!
We are also making the first significant price rises in 4 years - around 5-10% on most bits and squads. We don't like to do this, but after accounting for inflation, most products still cost the same or less than they did when first launched. Putting our profit margin back to where it was a few years ago will allow us to continue investing in better equipment and more design work so we can continue with our recent accelerated release schedule.
Unfortunately the platoon bundle is not available on the new website for the time being, while we work out the best way to do it with our new live stock system. All the squads are there and now - so are all the different option parts!
@Ragsta - separate boiler suit legs may appear at some point, but I do not know when we might feasibly get around to them. The to do list is LONG.
That's a darn good update regardless of the legs, sir, thank you for this!
Even faster delivery times... Does that mean I could get my stuff the same day?! ;P
Looking forward to the new site. I know I'll be picking up some of the exo-armour when its ready - just to try them out. And I really need to decide on that future IG project too...
Ragsta wrote: That's a darn good update regardless of the legs, sir, thank you for this!

I think the quickest we can aim for is an order placed at 2pm UK time shipping out same day and arriving the next morning at 9/10 am with the post, so 18 hours ish..
I have pondered offering Bike courier delivery in London but it would be crazy expensive.. Late evening order pick up for local customers is certainly something we can look at in future.
OldMate wrote: Any chance you could add AUD to the pricing? I know it's a pretty minor thing, but well I like not having to convert it myself before each order.
Liking the new look to the shop. Keep up the awesome.

We can but the price in AUD will be 150% higher than the GBP price for no reason.
I am joking obviously. Not right now - focused on just getting up and running - but we will certainly look into adding AUD when we can. We make enough sales to Australia to make it worthwhile!
@Not Online!!! - The new store is up, but not open yet. We are just testing payment gateways and a few other things.
The site will launch with only credit/debit cards as a payment option, but we will try to get Paypal available again asap.

I don't know why people aren't talking about this more. This is absolutely fantastic. What relative scale is this? Space Marine sized, or Guardsman? Just fantastic work all round!

The scale is Primaris scale. If you take the time to check out the new website you will see multiple scale comparisons.
To be fair the scale comparison for the new Exo-Lord is hidden away in the Daughter of the Burning Rose blog post HERE
We did correct the code issue causing the HTTP issue, but I have updated my signature link regardless - thanks for the heads up.
@Nurglitch and @MOTN - thanks very much!
@Nostrodamus - That's a little concerning - Have you managed to fix the issue or is it still coming up? In which case please email a screenshot to support@anvilindustry.co.uk and we will try and get it sorted.
Black Friday Bitz Bags will go live tonight at 7pm UK time, 2pm EST, 11am PST.
To have a chance of getting a bag, be online and have anything else you want in your cart in advance. I expect them to sell out within 30 minutes if the website server holds up.
Holy heck, those are some big lads. But I am definitely interested in picking some up when they come out. Primaris to the max, and a size I really really like. Fantastic work!
I managed to get through, but if you didn't this got posted on facebook
BITZ BAGS: Important Update.
Well this was a disaster.. Due to a total server melt down we have had to disable the Bitz bag product and reset the website. This will have been extremely frustrating for the 80 or so of you who were sitting there waiting for your checkout to go through.
Firstly. I am very sorry. We should have been better prepared and thought this promotion through more.
Secondly. If you have not managed to purchase a bitz bag, but would like one. Please send an email to support@anvilindustry.co.uk with "bitz bag" as the entire message. We will reply in due course as soon as we have worked out the best course of action.
Again, we are extremely sorry for inconvenience.
not your fault, clearly you can't be 'fair' and tell people when limited online stuff is going to go on sale or they'll all be running a manual denial of service attack by F5ing, even amazon was wobbling this morning,
Total disaster here. Really sorry if you were inconvenienced.
We still have bags left. If you want one, fire up your email and send the words "bitz bag" to support@anvilindustry.co.uk and await instruction on how to add one to an order (once I have figured out how to best sort it).
Sending an email does not guarantee a bag is available, depending on when you email.
EDIT at 10.39 UK time - We have few left, but not many, so people who email after this time may get one, but its not so likely.
Ketara wrote: What? No ten (wo)man squad discount? Or army sets?
We took down the platoon builder for now as we have not yet worked out the best way to make it functional using our new websites live stock control system. The old version was a huge pain and caused many picking errors.
We have never offered a 10 woman squad because so far, we only have 5 sculpts for any of the female rifle arms/legs. Most of the male versions have 10 sculpts so it makes sense to have a sqaud with all 10 poses.
We will try to expand the number of female squad offerings as soon as we have spare capacity.
Got my grab bag in the post along with some of the candles I ordered, it's been a while since I last put in order and the minis are still great quality!
Mine apparently overshot and is currently in Montreal ready for distribution back East. Such is mail though. I'm excited for it, but it's my Christmas present so I have to wait before I can get it together.
Check the anvil instagram page, they just previewed their new exo lords. I cant wait to get some arms and bolt rifles, I need them so I can convert my sigmarine Sequitors into templars!
I wonder if Anvil is going to make Exo Lords for all the varying Primaris Marines out there. Would be really cool to see an alternative take to them than GW's.
carlos13th wrote: Love the new website. Put some orders in this week.
Where in London is Anvil based. Honestly would order for personal pick up if it was offered in the future just for an excuse to see the place.
We are in Leytonstone, East London. Visitors/order pick up is welcome, subject to prior arrangement by email - dont just turn up as we are not usually open to the public!
@Tyranid Hoard - If our B grade stuff is up to scratch, our regular product should fare even better!
@Oldmate _ I understand the new sisters are a little taller than our models. If you place one of our character figures on a suitable scenic base that should ensure it doesnt look out of place.
@Fenriswulf - the new exo lord range is indeed upscaled, so now most comparable to Primaris marines.
If you live outside the UK, you really need to place an order THIS WEEKEND in order for it to have any chance of arriving before christmas, and even now its not possible to guarantee it. Tracked shipping is recommended to give parcels the best chance of getting through.
UK customers can order right up to Tuesday 17th and get reliable pre christmas delivery.
Also what is the current price range you are looking at for the updated Exo Lords? I know especially with the favorable conversion currently for US it is cheaper to order from you than go GW direct and their wonky conversion ratio and I would rather support you than them.
Fenriswulf wrote: Will you be making parts for that suit most of the Primaris types? Intercessor, Reiver, Aggressor etc?
We will make a few different equipment options to suit different combat styles yes.
mightymconeshot wrote: Also what is the current price range you are looking at for the updated Exo Lords? I know especially with the favorable conversion currently for US it is cheaper to order from you than go GW direct and their wonky conversion ratio and I would rather support you than them.
Not yet decided. They will be more expensive than both our old exo-lords, and the basic plastic primaris marines from GW - This is simply because with resin kits, larger parts directly increases the material cost and labour associated with running the molds.
The quality and options will I hope, mean our kits still offer excellent value.
Just to say, I got a good number of frag cannons from these fine people a couple holidays ago now. Was great service, I was told as they were gifts. Was even missing a couple and they sent the missing ones straight away and had it all by Christmas day.
Great group, good service and nice prices for the bits. All in all class acts, just thought I'd say that as the service warranted it and my support. A bit off topic but I thought positive reviews are always in season.
Speaking of positive reviews, I ordered these for Christmas and they're fantastic! I especially appreciate the molded sprue on the cultists, and the peg/slot arrangement with the arms. Virtually no mold lines too!
I can't be the only one refreshing the Anvil page every week hoping there'll be a stealthy Afterlife restock... Looking for that Goliath, Republic exo-mechs and those Warden mechs in particular!
@BrotherCaptainArkhan - See below! Warden mechs are actually available to purchase currently! The Goliath will get a resculpt at some point. Not certain on the small republic mechs yet!

GENERAL UPDATE REGARDING AFTERLIFE GAME AND MINIATURES
----------------
I just posted this in the two Kickstarter projects, so I am posting it here as well.
Our plans for the future of AFTERLIFE.
We have posted this information on our website, but most people with an interest in the game/figure range will be on one or both AFTERLIFE Kickstarter projects, so this is the best place for useful feedback.
It has been quite a number of years since we launched AFTERLIFE with great hope and enthusiasm.
We were/are operating in a very competitive market, with probably hundreds of different small wargames fighting for attention alongside the big and well established ones, and we did not have the resources to invest in growing the game that larger companies can bring to the table. This led to our decision a few years ago to pause work on the game and focus on different product ranges.
This means ultimately our grand plans to support and expand the game didn't work out how we hoped! We are very proud of the miniatures and universe we created, but have to concede that the game has never gained enough traction to go beyond cult status.
We are currently reviewing the future of the game/miniatures range, and would welcome some input from our backers who have supported the project since day one!
The current plan:
Gradually re-sculpt/re-release the miniatures in a slightly larger/more heroic scale to fit better with the scale and modular system used by our Regiments and Exo-Lord lines.
This will make the whole miniatures range much more cross-compatible with other gaming systems and miniatures, and boost sales of the figures to people playing those systems. More sales makes it easier to justify further investment in new miniatures for the range.
Where we have existing molds/stock, we will keep selling the old scale models for as long as we can.
Models which are currently out of production/unavailable will be the first to be updated, but we do not have a time frame yet for any particular model.
We then hope to release a more open ruleset that incorporates everything we make and allows for complete customisation of miniatures.
The AFTERLIFE narrative will be fully playable within the new game, which means that the forces you have already built will remain fully relevant.
We hope you approve of our plans. If you have any specific feedback, ideas or questions please comment on this update or get in touch privately by email if you prefer : support@anvilindustry.co.uk
Thanks once again for all your support and enthusiasm over the years!
Yeah I'd be in the "Nooo" camp as well. These look like they'd match nicely with my Mantic scale miniatures. There is already a ton of GW sized stuff out there, some of it from your great company. But finding items in a more true scale form is much much harder.
Not thrilled with the rescale, please be judicious in doing such. My favorite pieces are the robots and larger armors so you really shouldn't need to touch them so much. Love the idea of an open ruleset.
One of the biggest draws for me was the scale compatibility with more realistic miniatures, so I guess if 'embiggening' is the future I'll probably look to part with mine reasonably soon.
Getting realistic scale bits is getting harder and harder. I'm right off the 'heroic' aesthetic, especially the guns. A Dragunov shouldn't be the size of a PTRD, it just looks like a nerf gun. It just about works for pure SF miniatures, but looks janky with stuff you recognise from TV or have handled in person.
I'd prefer not to see the Afterlife stuff turn into Cadian style potato people. They hit a nice soft spot between shinless GW proportions and more true scale. Enough so that they would look equally at home amongst Imperial Guard as they would among Mantic's GCPS.
I also actually really liked the simplicity of the Afterlife range. Most figures were just 2 pieces. Sure, you didn't get much modularity out of them as a result, but it did allow for more interesting poses. Maybe some kind of compromise could be done and have the more simple construction guys be sold in starter sets or battle box type deals, similar to what GW does with their push-fit kits. You could then sell the modular stuff in squads or separately like what's currently done with Regiments.
This is a hard one, I do love the range in its current form and scale as it bridges that gap between heroic and real life scaling.
However I understand the need to keep it profitable, current and fitting with other ranges, so if this was the way to go would it be a simple up scaling or altering the proportions to heroic styling?
If it’s a case of making them slightly larger but in their current scale then cool, altering the proportions to heroic I think might be a bad choice unless it is done carefully and sympathetically.
I have to say the idea of making them multi pose would be cool as long as we could keep the current range single pose sculpts running along side, even if it is all up scaled.
Cool, I love the commandos but they are on the small side compared to the rest of my collection if they increase to match up with the regiment mins they will fit better
Are you going to restock the weapons upgrade range? I like those box mags and drum mags, I quite liked purchasing a sprue of box mags or drum mags to moify some of my more specialist troops...

Thanks once again for all your support and enthusiasm over the years!
So, I've always considered that Anvil products have quite a distinct look anyway that isn't TOO out-there that your pieces won't work with other model lines. The only criticism I ever have is that sometimes leg and body poses can look quite static, especially with the heavily armoured parts.
I also don't see that much of a difference between the scale of your Afterlife models and the scale of your Regiments models.
I always questioned the logic of releasing Afterlife as a range of single-pose models when you already had a decent business in selling conversion parts or custom kits. If the conversation parts and custom kits are still your main income source then my suggestion would be:
- Offer Afterlife squad range as multipart kits which also become integral parts of your Regiments range (rescaled to fit if necessary). So, for example, Unity Guard become a number of components, which you can still sell together as a 'Unity Guard Squad' but you can also sell as 'CorpSec Trenchcoat Legs', 'CorpSec Trenchcoat Torsos', 'Drum Carbine' etc etc. Basically, Afterlife units become specific builds of the Regiments system. This way, adding more Afterlife parts actually just adds to your core money-making offering.
- Keep the special characters as they are, and maybe over time resculpt to the SLIGHTLY larger new sizing
- While light Exo-mech parts could be done the same way as above, heavy Exo-mech parts could be scaled to also work as conversion parts for Exo-Lords.
- Continue to develop Afterlife without too much of a draw on your main business. Pulling kit parts from your Regiments range may also be an easy way to expand Afterlife.
That's what I think, anyway. Looking at your product line nowadays, it seems crazy that you offer an amazing, huge range of human-scaled units as multi-part kits and then sell a game system that doesn't use any of them!
@ Arbitorian - Thanks, what you have suggested is broadly in line with the plan. Making parts compatible with either Regiments OR Exo-Lords seems to make a lot of sense.

Apologies for the lack of updates lately, We have had our hand's full finishing off our office/studio upgrades and keeping on top of order fulfillment!
we have been more active on Facebook and Instagram, below are some images of some new Trench/WW2 styled motorbikes which will soon be part of our Regiments range! No specific release date yet.
I just got the order I placed last week, which included the Burning Rose artbook. There's some really interesting stuff in there. Are there any plans to revisit some of the unused designs, like the combat servitors or the robot with the twin-linked bolters in its chest?
Barzam wrote: I'd prefer not to see the Afterlife stuff turn into Cadian style potato people.
LoL Barzam. I think Cadians would make great truescale dwarves for 1/40-43rd scales. they seemingly have all the right proportions!
Automatically Appended Next Post: Motobikes look good and new trencher stuff is really cool. Good to see you are bringing expanding female parts into line with male parts.
Nice to see the expansion of options.
Especially love this guy.
Spoiler:
A mortar bomb has hit the latrine. There's a real s&*tstorm out there. The desperate call goes up the line as the waters flow slowly and steadily towards the trenches. PLUMBER!
I like the idea of motorcycle riders, but they look awfully “calm” in that riding pose. I’d love to see more aggressive/lively action poses - perhaps aggressively leaning forward on the handlebars, leaning back from takeoff whiplash, leaning in an evade, etc.
Also, will the heads be a separate piece? I have some extra heads I’d like to use from my own regiment.
Hi Anvil, I just wanted to ask if the Republic Instigator Assault Recon Vehicle will be amongst the models re-released later with afterlife? I had my eyes on them but obviously waited ti long with ordering and would be sad to not have one or two for my collection.
We will likely offer squads of bikers, but not include the bikes as squad options.
@barzam - yes we hope to cover some of the unused concept sketches at some point in the future, but no timeline on that yet.
@stormonu - there is a limit to the poses because they have to fit with our modular parts range. The heads will be separate yes.
@oldmate - that sounds like a fun conversion project!
@pyroalchi - We will be releasing a new larger Regiments scale version at some point. The older/existing one may also reappear. No ETA on that, unfortunately.
It goes without saying that I'd be gutted to see Afterlife regimentified. I LIKE the better posing attainable by keeping them close to monopose amd I like the scaling on them.
I think the scale of them is comparable to Death Korps of Kroeg and Elysians, so as long as you can build a whole army from them, no probs.
Perhaps the next Afterlife models could be Crane Industries, so lots of robots with crossover potential, and which would lend themselves more to modularity?
Thanks for your feedback about Afterlife plans. For me personally, I much prefer the scale and proportions of Afterlife models as they are - that's why I did them that way in the first place!
Being in London during the pandemic means our business has had to totally restructure just to stay open and viable.
This means pretty much any and all our prior plans are up in the air again!
We are currently looking at setting up a digital offering on Patreon and our webstore.
One big advantage of this is that it means we can offer all the existing afterlife sculpts exactly as they are, potentially 3D printing them to order instead of resin casting.
We will likely have to delay making decisions on Afterlife even more, but it will stay in my mind moving forward!
1. In a few weeks time we are launching the Digital Forge. This will be a Patreon funded monthly STL release in a similar format to numerous existing projects. We will also be selling STL's on our website and potentially offering other 3D print/digital services.
There is certainly an element of "everyone else is doing it so we should as well" but I really think we will also be bringing something new to the market, and the cross over with our resin range will make for a far better overall customer experience, so I am excited to be doing something new after almost a decade of making only resin parts!
Additionally, due to the ongoing COVID-19 lockdown, we are struggling to keep up with resin production for our existing ranges, and certainly will have little time for new physical releases in the coming months. A digital offering means our design team can be funded to keep working on sculpts!
There is a lot more information in our latest Blog Post HERE which you can read, so I won't go into to much detail, but any questions, suggestions etc are very welcome!
2. Your chance to design an original miniature! To celebrate hitting 20K likes on our facebook page, we are running a competition to design a miniature concept, and work with our art/sculpting team to have it created as a digital figure. THe winner also gets a high-resolution 3D print and a £50 store voucher! Again, full details in the blog post HERE .
Thanks for your ongoing support everyone! Things are really tough right now but people are still buying our miniatures!
Our Digital Forge project will be going live very soon, here are a couple of previews of models we have put together for the Welcome Pack.
We are working on some new "Trench" themed stuff for the first month which I'm very excited about.
With no idea when we might be able to release physical products again (as the few staff who can make it into the office still have their hand's full processing orders for existing products!) It's great to be able to carry on working with our design team on exciting new stuff.
That looks look sweet. I'm glad there is a decent outlet for you to design stuff while fabricating new products is difficult. I do hope for those who have no 3d printer you end up selling physical copies of this stuff but in the meantime im off to google printer prices.
As someone who has ordered from Anvil post lockdown they were great, communication was fanatic and the product up to its usual quality. We should all be understanding that everything is going to take a little longer at the moment, but I was genuinely impressed.
I also prefer the afterlife scale, although I also want to modularity of regiments range.
A set of modular, but non-heroic proportioned 32mm arms/legs/torsos/weapons might be worth considering. Fairly generic sorts of bits would be great for 32mm truescale games like Fallout and Judge Dredd, though 28mm truescale bits would still be useful.
That commissar looks awesome! Very interested in the "digital forge" . I think somewhat heroic proportions probably makes sense for the digital offerings, depending on the resolution of printer folks are using, and it looks like this model has it just about right.
I'm also curious how you'll be breaking up the parts. I've got access to a resin printer, and was fortunate enough to tour the Anvil facility with legoburner years ago and see theirs. But there's a lot of expert post-print cleanup that goes into making miniatures, and I suck at it even if I can print them off fine.
That might be an idea for the Digital Forge, too - some example videos showing you cleaning up your prints! Obviously, this is also less of an issue for things like those cool ammo boxes, which have a clear underside where supports can go.
That does look very nice, and interesting for some objective markers or vehicle detail. Gotta admit, I'm kinda hoping for loose printable versions of that AK lasgun though.
Edit: I know about the resin ones, just already have arms for the models I want to use without stocks, and getting enough stocks to fit the 5 on the sprue without stocks is pricey...still considering it though.
@Carlos13th - thanks for your kind words! We are doing our best to keep operating as normal.
@samsonov - modular 28mm true scale gets very fiddly as the parts are so thin! I'll have a think about it though.
@RiTides - we are doing our best to design the 3D models FOR 3D printing beginners - this means wherever we can designing the models to minimise the number of supports needed.
We also hope to provide pre supported versions which we have tested ourselves in house.
@ Vejut - We are not going to do the AK as a digital file for now, but we will do the new Phase Rifle, so I'll look at uploading just a stock..
We should also really sell resin gun stocks separately, I'll try and organise a sprue of those at some point.

And some presupported versions sounds like a great idea! More than anything I'd love a tutorial video showing how you do your cleanup / postprocessing though (or just an example video if you're doing anything you don't want to reveal). Would be so helpful!!
We are still figuring out exactly the best way to do it, but YES we will be offering both unsupported and pre supported versions of the files.
At the moment only unsupported are available to download, but by the end of the month I hope to have supported files sorted and most importantly TEST PRINTED to check they work!
We got our first batch of mniis from the Patreon (other than the welcome pack, that is), and I'm very happy with the quality of the stuff:
The only thing I find somewhat lacking (and that I don't know whether it could be possible to add) is a lack of unarmored torsos without heads, and that's mainly because I have stls here for Cobra troopers and I feel those could work really well here
This looks like good value as Patreons go and is well executed plus I like Anvil as a company and hope to see them do well. But I think there is already a bit of a saturation of Krieg-esque masked guards in greatcoats from a range of suppliers. Hopefully other months branch out into areas that are a bit more creative.
Well I hadn’t paid attention because there was no way I was getting a 3D printer. Well I got one a month ago. I guess I better start looking at his offerings. Here I bought the printer to save money .
I don't have a resin printer, but my brother does, so he'll be producing figures for me. I backed it last night. I'm too late for these trench fighters, but June is supposed to be robots, and that sounds awesome to me.
@albertorius - Thanks for posting up the image and review!
@Theophony - welcome to the dark side
@Barzam - once we have figured out the best way to do it, previous months offerings will be available as individually purchasable STL's, alongside a number of products from our existing range.
@GloomyFenix - As Resin miniatures? Yes we certainly hope so! We just need to figure out the logistics as we are extremely short-staffed at the moment.
Just a heads up that the AUTOMATA June Digital Forge release is available now, and you have until midnight Pacific TIme on July 1st to sign up, so a day or so to go depending on your time zone!
Full details of what is included here (And some attached example renders plus a 3D test print I did earlier!)
I can't be the only one who is absolutely gutted Afterlife now seems to have completely disappeared. I really, really wish I'd jumped in sooner with them.
Are there no 'last few' available in the depths of the stockroom? Would be great to pick up if poss. Aware Anvil has to focus on what's really selling at the moment to stay afloat though - I just wish the Forge was equally viable for those without access to 3D printers.

I wrote a bit about plans for Afterlife in our recent blog
After a few years on hiatus, we had originally intended to spend a part of this year figuring out the next steps for Afterlife. We planned to review the rules and game system and consider how we could expand the miniatures range. The Pandemic has meant unfortunately we have had to delay that process, and have withdrawn the range from sale temporarily.
We hope to make AFTERLIFE miniatures available again in the future, but do not yet know when we will get a chance to. Options include re-releasing old miniatures as they are, making improved versions of existing designs, making the miniatures available as 3D print-on-demand or in a digital format, and some other ideas.

So, The disappearance is temporary. Ideally, the models will all get an update at some point and Id love to do some new ones! We just haven't had a chance to figure it out yet.
Website is up and running again, but due to a hardware failure on our server we’ve have had to restore to a remote backup from 20 June :(
Don't panic! All orders that were placed since then have either shipped or will be shipped soon, but they will not appear in your account on the website, and if you created an account after 20 June you will need to do this again.
We're very sorry for the inconvenience, the tech gods have not been with us!!
It has been a while since I was here. Things have been a bit mad with the Pandemic.
