Well, we're coming up on the second anniversary of X-Wing this summer. Time to take stock of what you have and what you still want to get. As for me, I am crazy about this game and have bought into every wave at the pre-order stage plus adding between waves. Thinking about my current fleets, I can only say I'm very glad to see these Epic play rules. So here's what I have/have pre-ordered: Rebels - 7x X-Wings - 4x Y-Wings - 4x A-Wings - 3x B-Wings - 1x HWK-290 - 2x YT-1300 - 3x GR-75 - 1x CR90 On the way: - 3x E-Wings - 5x Z-95s I intend to supplement this with three of the Rebel Aces packs as/when. I am also thinking of adding two more Y-Wings. Not sure about the HWK-290 and am sticking with one CR90 until the Imps get a huge ship. I will very likely get some more Z-95s eventually, as well. Imperials - 10x TIE Fighters - 2x TIE Advanced - 11x TIE Interceptors -- 5x Regular -- 3x Blood Striped -- 3x Royal Guard - 3x TIE Bombers - 2x Firespray-31 - 1x Lambda Shuttle On the way: - 2x TIE Defenders - 3x TIE Phantoms Another three-ship flight of TIE Bombers and one more TIE Defender are on my wish list but I otherwise pretty satisfied with this collection. At most, I might add another two TIE Fighters. I am really hoping FFG will announce an Imperial huge ship at Origns or GenCon.

You are! The secret goal of this thread was to get you post your inventory so I would feel better about mine. Search your feelings, you know it to be true. I bought one, read through the scenario that requires three and bought two more. Fortunately, there is no similar multi-corvette scenario with the CR90.

Its a fluff thing, the (old, now defunct) expanded universe states that both the imperials and the rebels fielded starfighters in squadrons of 12, broken down into three flights of 4. I don't really intend on collecting a full squadron of any of the fighters, but I will collect flights of them.
I don't even play imperials lol, I fielded my imps once (and I only used interceptors/bombers), my usual opponents all play almost strictly imperial only so I'm usually a rebel.

Post by: Manchu
Funny, I am the almost the same. I have flown Imps maybe once or twice. I always prefer to play Rebs. I believe in the Republic!
7075
Post by: chaos0xomega
In my case, I prefer the Imps, but thats because the only game I've ever actually won has been with them lol. Its super frustrating too, because I always start out absolutely dominating my opponent with rebels, and then by some mechanism things get turned around and I get caught on the back foot and can't recover.

Origins is next week! Also my vacation. Hadn't thought about them previewing anything there but now I'm hoping. Out of total curiosity, with the restrictions that are placed on how many ships you can take in epic play have you regretted/wish you hadn't bought/second guessed any of your inventory? Also curious why you'd want a second CR90, just for casual? I try to maximize the efficiency of what I can afford and store while still being a completionist so curious to understand the mindset is all. Here's mine after nine months, again trying to complete a collection while being able to support two players in standard play, quite satisfied:
<>REBEL ALLIANCE
5x X-wing [1 transport custom, was unexpected]
2x Y-wing
2x A-wing
2x B-wing
1x HWK-290
1x YT-1300

1x CR-90 Corvette
2x E-Wing
2x Z-95 (initially, two more expected at least)
2x Rebel Aces
1x YT-2400 (I can Dream)
<>IMPERIAL FORCES
8x TIE Fighters
6x TIE Interceptors (Includes two Imperial Aces)
2x TIE Bombers
1x TIE Advanced
1x Firespray-31

Epic allows up to 12 of a single small type and 6 of a large ... so no regrets so far as I have not gone over caps. As to having >1 CR90, I plan to play X-Wing into my dotage and that means scenario and campaign play or yes I guess what is called "casual" play (as if competitive play was more "serious" ).

Unfortunately I can't link the PinsofWar Comic here...but needless to say with a lot of us 'Mistakes were made.'
My signature says it all! Except the on order of:
(4) Z-95 Headhunters
(2) E-wings
(1) TIE Phantom
(2) TIE Defenders
I also have to concur with the prior sentiment of wanting to order certain ships in groups of 4 for a 'Flight', very rare ships in 'Elements' of 2...and the staple ships of at least 12. I also can't wait for more huge ships, love my CR90.

Not to derail here, but I have a question about those cases! Thanks to some help from MT11, I've started my journey into this game!
How many ships will each of those cases hold? What size ships will it hold? I appreciate any intel!

You can get a whole range of custom foam trays to match your fleet. The most they will hold is 40 standard fighters, but you can mix and match trays to suit your needs.
Here are some, but you can see them all on their website (kr multicase)
Automatically Appended Next Post: The transfers are vinyl decals. A guy on ebay sells them quite cheap. I was ten quid to do both cases front, back and sides. They seem like they'll take a kicking too.

The big advantage I think they have is that all the small ships are stored fully assembled. I've now started storing the relevant movement dial and id tokens in the same slot too, so setting up for a game takes seconds. Seems more sensible than constructing and deconstructing them every time you want to play. With two cases, and the list I stated earlier in the thread, I still have room for the wave 4 and rebel aces stuff. Just need a third for the huge ships.

I full admit that I have no right to question people's collections given just how much 40K stuff I have, but from all I know about this game I find it strange that people own so many duplicate items. I mean, most games seem to have a total of 6-8 units per side. Why would you need more than 1 Lambda? Is there ever a point where you'll field 11 X-Wings? 6 TIE Advanced's?
Just seems odd to me.

I only have a small collection, but here is my take on that. It's a couple of factors: 1) Playing multiple games: If you have a couple of friends it would let you share. 2) Playing Epic games: There are now an "official" ruleset that lets you play games with up to 12 of the small ships at a time. 3) I'm guessing one of the more frequent reasons: Each individual ship comes with a small selection of upgrade cards, but these cards can be used on many different ships. So if you like a particular upgrade you will need to purchase multiples of the same ships so that can place them on the different ships that you are actually playing with. 4) Probably the least frequent reason: You are crazy like MajorTom. It's not enough to just put down an X-Wing and say that he is Luke Skywalker. You need the exact X-Wing for each possible pilot because when Luke Skywalker is on the board he is flying in Luke Skywalker's X-Wing!
48281
Post by: Eggs
Epic rules let you fly up to 12 of each type of ship. Also, even in a standard game, you can fly usually at least 4 of a given type. 4 lamdas is a thing I've seen. It's actually the list with the most hull and shields available.
Also, just because. :p
22687
Post by: MajorTom11
It's even simpler than that. If you want to field every possible list, then you need a certain amount of each ship minimum. 5 YTs. 4 Xwing. 8 Tie. 2 Falcon. 3 e-wing yadayada.
Same reason you have more than 2000 pts for 40k. Difference, almost everything is fun in x-wing, unlike 40k where not every unit is useful and you would never even be able to take an army of 1 single unit type (well, use to anyways lol). Games are short and quick at 100 pts... so any combo you want available just keeps things fresh and fun, and you can get through a surprising amount of 'goofy' and serious lists.
All D-Usa's reasons also apply, but ultimately main reasons are lists and cards.
Also, to point number 4, you confused crazy with effin awesome .

I'd like to get some more Ys and As, and try to do a "Hot & Cold" concept-list with slow Y-Wings plodding forward and fast A-Wings running in circles.
An Imperial TIE Bomber-list is also looking interesting to me.
And, of course, as soon as wave 4 comes out in stores I'll be getting all of them, plus enough Headhunters to do a Rebel Swarm.

Multiple Lambdas is actually a thing. Some folks are crazy enough to run 4 of them, say with Captain Yorr chewing on stress while they just outlast everything else with 20 shield and 20 hull. On top of that, people want to grab multiple Rebel Captives or Advanced Sensors.
X-Wing and Interceptor proliferation in my case is just from accumulation. I have 2 from Core sets, one X-Wing pack and another X-Wing from the GR-75. I played 4 Interceptor builds long before the Imperial Aces came out, so now I have 6.
11 X-Wings and 6 Advanced is rather silly though

This was one of those clever marketing things you have to give credit for. And to start off I want to say I have no complaints with it (other than the Stealth device only having one source and that being the Firespray mostly because I want two but am not sure I'd ever play with the second ship). The game "looks" cheap at first glance, especially if you like the basic X-Wing or Tie Fighters, but then you start reading about common pairings and to take a recently posted example you think "I want to run Luke, Wedge, and Biggs, and I have 3 X-Wings from buying 2 Core and and an expansion, but people say Biggs should get a Stealth device." And then you're buying a Firespray. "And I should also think about a basic R2 and Push the Limit for Wedge." There is a Y-Wing and either Imperial Aces or an A-Wing. "Luke would really do well with a Shield upgrade too." Falcon or Aces again.
You collection really does grow pretty quick when you have scenarios like the above.

Is there some sort of FFG police out there hunting people who don't have all the cardboard bitz for upgrades they're using? I just print my list off of that nice online fleet builder thing and don't even bother with the cards. I need to know if I have to barricade my house.

Agreement/response to Derek:
With the exceptionally rare instance of stealth device or advanced sensors, there is in my mind no draw back for buying two of any ship that comes in a blister and one of each ship that comes in a box and two again of each 'Aces' box, and exactly no more than that. But from my paradigm it hasn't been 'I buy this expansion to get upgrade xyz, I get it so that I can have that ship.' It just so happens that there are awesome toys in each box that give new life to my previous expansions. Like...
Me: I bought a core set! Yay!
FFG: Thank you! Here's two of the most commonly used X-wing pilot cards and an awesome Droid!
Me: Sweet! I like this game and I want the Falcon!
FFG: Cool! Here's absolutely everything you need for that, and some cool stuff for Luke to be awesome with!
Me: Neat! I'm getting Slave I now to fight the rebels back!
FFG: Great! Here's all that you need for that, you can use stuff from the YT-1300 you bought before, and as a bonus here's something awesome for Biggs and other ships that like agility if you ever buy those!
Me: YAAAAY!
In conclusion, I've never felt or seen anyone feel required to buy an FFG X-wing product for just specific pieces of it. I only see them being well compensated for their investment while hosing out the power buyer by making the game so balanced that buying all the 'best' ships in multiples doesn't actually serve any great in-game purpose. And honestly how often does a game do that? Any more in magic for instance out of a 250 card set or close to, there may be half a dozen cards that support or revitalize a card from years ago, sometimes on purpose, more often on accident I'd wager. So like 2% of a set help the existing while building on the recent and doing its own thing at the same time? FFG, I applaud you yet again, as you pull closer to like 50%. And it looks that way in every game I've seen of theirs. Skinner box? Maybe. But it's the best and most equitable one I've ever seen, so I'll keep pecking away. (Side note, just started playing their game 'Descent', and it's awesome!)

Glorious Imperial Navy:
4x Tie Fighters
4x Tie Interceptors
1x Tie Advanced
1x Lambda
1x Firespray
Pending: 1x Tie Defender, 1x Tie Phantom, 2x Tie Interceptors (Imperial Aces)
Girlfriend's Obnoxious Rebel Scum:
3x X-Wings
1x Y-Wing
1x B-Wing
1x HWK 290
1x YT-1300
Pending ("ALL THE Z-95s!, according to her, 1x E-Wing)
I think my 4 Tie Fighter, 2x Interceptor lists drove her a little insane, and now she needs to out-spam me. To compensate, I'm going to run a 100pt 2 ship Imperial squadron.

Tom your repaints are unreal!
Though I need a bit of an explanation, why the two size A-Wings? One is from WOTC?
22687
Post by: MajorTom11
Yeah, the FFG A-wings are out of scale (to the eye if you look at the movies, the a-wings are barely bigger than the cockpit area of a Y-wing. Some people go nuts on the 'official measurement' though so YMMV), so being OCD prone I wanted them to match better, and found the WOTC one to be of adequate detail and sizing...
Thanks for looking

I like that you repainted your various Ties to grey. I know the blue is accurate but growing up, they have always been grey in my mind, especially since I played the X-Wing games a lot.

Well i only just started this game just under a week ago and played my first games on sat only at 50-70 points for learning.
So far only have
2 X-wings
1 A-wing
me and my brother split a core box and got a couple of more models each to see if we liked the game which we do and we will expand.
My next planed purchases or the next few weeks will be 1 or 2 B-wings and a HWK after that will be a falcon. once these are rounded out ill look into getting some imp's.
Sorry its not the most exciting list

YAY! Two new players...Yisss, they will be powerful allies...Hehehehe So Squadron Builder put Dash Rendar in the system and I was playing around when I realized <>Dash Rendar -->Outrider -->Ion Cannon -->Push the Limit -->Kyle Katarn(Rebel Aces) Total = 50pts So on your turn you can still translate your position about 4 with a '1' maneuver and Barrel Roll, (most likely, have to see the YT-2400 dial) get a Focus token, then Target Lock and re-Stress. And not care about obstacles all the while and shoot 360 no-scope. I think Kyles upgrade card is going to see some heavy use here. I am only curious about the weapon choice. The Heavy Laser is sweet and fluffy but not being able to shoot at range 1 could be problematic.

Hmm let's see
Imperial:
Lambda
Firespray
4 ties
5 Interceptors (2 Aces)
3 bombers
3 Advances
and a CR90 (because dakka)
Rebels
2 x-wings
Y-wing
HWK
and two uglies
My friends and I play with a third faction of pirates with access to a bit of both lists. Now that I think about it I do need to make up that deathseed...

My fleets so far:
Rebels:
1 x YT-1300 (at least going to get a 2nd and maybe a 3rd for cards)
3 x GR 75 (couldn't help it, the scenario required three dammit!)
1 x CR90
3 x Y-Wing (at least getting 1 more if not 2)
2 x A-Wing (will be getting at least 2 more from 2 Rebel Aces sets)
7 x X-Wing (3 from core sets, 3 from the transports, and one expansion)
I will definitely be picking up a HWK and probably a couple YT-2400 when they come out.
I may be alone in this, but I hate the B-Wing. There I said it. I will probably be trading/selling the ones I get from Rebel Aces away.
Imperials:
1 x Lambda (will probably be picking up 2-3 more of these)
2 x Firespray (may pick up a 3rd)
3 x Tie Bomber (will probably pick up 3 more)
3 x Tie Interceptor (2 from Imp Aces, 1 Expansion, will definitely be getting more of these!)
1 x Tie Advanced (will pick up at least 1 more if not 2)
7 x Tie Fighters (6 from core sets, 1 expansion, will pick up at least 5 more of these)
I will probably pick up at least 1 Tie Defender for the cards, but I dislike the model. I'll probably pick up 2-3 Phantoms as well. I'll probably also be picking up at least 1 Decimator just to have if nothing else.

After playing my first demo game by a friend with a large collection on 31 May, i went out straight away and purchased the Core Set and Tie Advanced and an additional X-Wing
Fathers Day i also got an A-Wing
The club i play has Imperial players, and if it was up to me, i'd probably play Imperial, so im going to build as strong a Rebel force, to get plenty games under my belt and then expand to the Imperials.
So:
Rebel:
2 X-Wing
1 A-Wing
Imperial
2 Tie Fighters
1 Tie Advanced
Next Purchase:
B-Wing - Still unavailable at local retailer.
Y-Wing - Purchased on 21 June - first run out 25 June

Not at all. I tend to play large games at my FLG (between 150-300), so I suppose it has some point in that regard. But alas, it is nothing more than an unhealthy addiction... and I totally blame MajorTom for it

In 2 years all I've got to show for it is:
Rebels
1 X-Wing
Imperial
1 Boba Fett's Salve 1
1 Tie Advances
5 Tie Fighters
1 Tie Bomber
2 Tie Interceptors (Imperial Aces)
2 Tie Defenders
2 Tie Phantoms
1 Shuttle
Looking forward to expanding rebels with the Headhunter, it brings back fond memories from Star Wars Galaxies piloting the biggest piece of crap in the Galaxy. All hail the Rebellion... Also the Falcon, and maybe a couple b-wings.
Also Decimator looks pretty cool too, I'd like to have that with my imps asap!
Also going to try my hand at custom painting since my Shuttle was pretty much dunked in black wash and left there apparently.

After 2 years, I downsized.
I now only have a Falcon and Slave 1 model.
I gave the dice, all the other ships, markers, counters and templates to other guys who actively played it. It's a nice game - but way too simple for my liking.

Got two new ships, which slowly builds up my collection:
3 X-Wings
1 Y-Wing
1 A-Wing
1 YT-1300
5 TIE Fighters
2 TIE Advanced
1 TIE Interceptor
1 TIE Bomber
The TIE Bomber was a random purchase, but I'm just slowly trying to build up my list by completing the waves as they were released. So I still need the Slave-1 to catch up with Wave 2. My next planned purchase will be that and then one more TIE Interceptor, and then I'm thinking about getting another Y-Wing and A-Wing and the Imperial Aces to round out the Interceptors.

I've pre-ordered two rebel aces, a decimator and an outrider. It's nice to finally have caught up with the previous waves, and be pre-ordering stuff. (Means I can start padding out my infinity stuff in time for third edition.) Always too many shinies, and not enough monies!

I remember fondly preordering the original core set, and one of each Wave 1 ship. At the time I had been a fan of Wings of Glory and had a leg up on knowing, in broad strokes, I would enjoy the game (and LOVE the setting).
Long story short... I began the guy in the now famous X-wing Miniatures Game comic strip.

Mistakes were made... and now, despite having once sold off my entire collection (due to sheer stupidity on my part), I have re-built it to this...

- Y-wing x1
- B-wing x3 (Two blisters, one Rebel Aces)
- A-wing x2 (One blister, one Rebel Aces)
- Hwk 290 x1
- Z-95 Headhunter x2
- E-Wing x1

Well seeing as I've been eyeing this game for a while, and after all my scale bitching in the Armada thread, I decided to jump in on X-Wing. Specifically for the TIE fighters. Specifically the FLGS was Static Games. Really chilled and friendly staff. They brought up more X-Wing stock for me to riffle through and they had a decent amount. Definitely recommend if your in the area. Also they have an online shop as part of the larger business so definitely worth checking out. I think the discounts are only in the shop itself, but the online store seems pretty well stocked. Went down to a FLGS in Glasgow today to have a look at the stuff in person. To my surprise and pleasure most of the TIE variants were reduced by about 20-30%. They didn't have the starter set sadly so I went a bit ham on TIEs. 4* TIE Fighters 2* TIE Interceptors 1* TIE Bomber 1* TIE Defender I'm sure that I won't be able to use all of this at once but felt that it would be a healthy base to start out some various TIE fighter heavy lists. Still want to get a few more of each type because I just love these little ships. Ordering the starter set and probably will get Slave 1/Firespray and some Phantoms at some point. Also just because this has been playing in my head from driving home. Nerding out big time. EDIT: Since posting the Starter has been ordered. Along with a couple of Phantoms and another Defender. Oh and Slave I just because. This is some kind of crack isn't it? I... I... just couldn't stop.
70056
Post by: NewTruthNeomaxim
Its more "crack" than you think mate. I have at least two of most everything (and some things I have 4-6 of) and yet I still buy something on a whim, for no good reason.
During GenCon, all the X-wing hype had me wanting something, so when my ninja grabbed me a Decimator and Falcon, I also had him get me another Tie Defender and X-wing.... why? I have no idea. :-p
HYPE!

It's certainly worrying... hopefully get a wee picture up in the middle of the week when the rest of my stuff arrives....
Slight OT: But I take it Attack Wing runs of the same rules, more or less?
4001
Post by: Compel
It's the same core rules system (The Flightpath System), which was designed by Fantasy Flight Games, then licensed out. - Which is why we're getting D&D Attack Wing soon too.
The way I see it, while very similar games, X-Wing appeals closer to those who prefer much of the game being about the manoeuvres than the specific fleet build. - Normally I've found, you pick a squad your comfortable with and experienced flying it, you can do ok against something awesome (although, I've not flown against a Phantom yet...) So, the game may appeal more to the wargamer side of people.
Attack Wing on the other hand, it's very much about how your fleets built, how your cards interact with each other, with piloting skill more being focussed about getting the right card interactions into place at the right time. So... This game may be more appealing to card gamers (EG MTG), than wargamers (EG, Warhammer).
So, Attack Wing, you'll usually have 1-3 ships in a normal game. 4 if you MASSIVELY push it. X-Wing, it's usually well, 3-6, 8 if you go all TIEs.
There's only a handful of properly different rules in the game. - For example, the Bank Moves in X-Wing are of a shorter distance than Attack Wings. Also, a big change is if you 'bump' in Attack Wing, you still get to fire, even though you lose your action.
Aside from that, the rules are very similar indeed

Another batch of custom tokens in the cooker too, this time with cloaking and energy tokens, as well as personal re-designs for all bomb tokens.... and 3 ultrapro side sleeve leather binders (which work really well for all the cards btw guys, much easier to choose things when you can see it all very very quickly).

4x IG-2000s?!

Yessir... Apparently there are 4 assassin droid pilots sharing a networked mind in the fluff, IG88 being one of them... The interesting thing is... For every ig2000 on the table with one of the four pilots, the next on gets to share its pilot card abilities in addition to their own.... 4 IG2000's equals crazy buffed ships... What exactly those abilities are is still unknown, but the stacking of up to four is confirmed.

They're all IG-88. They're known as IG-88A through IG-88D, the one that showed up on the Executor was B.

You will never fit all four in a standard list though. Cheapest one is 36pts.

Spot on, I forgot how they were designated specifically but yes that is correct!

True... but... I only play with friends, and there is both epic and +100 point games in the non-tourney world! Sometimes I like taking nonsense lists, all interceptor, all a-wing, all defender just to get a feel for the individual ships too. Still, my (enabling, nonsensical) rational is that if there is a rule for it, or a list that can be made out of it at the 100 pt level, I will get every possible permutation... so, though it doesn't fit in 100pts, there is a rule for 4 of them being on the table, hence the purchase.
I didn't say it was smart lol!
I had a PM from Eldarain about the Binders I mentioned, I thought I would just answer generally here (and possibly I or someone could add it to the resources sticky if you guys try it and like it)
These are the type of binders I was refering to -
http://www.amazon.com/Ultra-Pro-PRO-BINDER-Leatherette-Sideloading/dp/B004FVJDV2
1 will likely be more than enough to hold every single card you own for x-wing and still have half of it left over. This includes upgrade cards, and even damage (though I don't really see the use of putting damage decks in a binder). There is plenty of room. Each page is side mounting and I have yet to have any issues with anything falling out. I stacked some of my generics 3 deep and had no issue with it, or with 1 single card. Each slot can fit 2 upgrade cards side to side, up to 3-4 deep too. I even put my mission specific tokens and bombs in the sleeves to keep them easily sortable, and it worked no problem.
I did hear that it is possible that the slightly textured surface could damage the cards if they are put in unsleeved, but everything I had was sleeved with ffg grey and yellow anyways so I never tried it without.... you are still going to be picking up and handling the cards after, so you would kind want them to be protected out of the binder anyways right?
Anyways, having them sorted in the binder makes choosing ships and upgrades soooooo much faster for me and my friends, we usually just decide on the spot what we will do and it really, really helps. It also helps cleanup too. Strong recommend from me, as i said, don't worry about space, 1 book alone would do it, I got 3, just for convenience, 1 rebel, 1 imperial, 1 scum/epic/ misc tokens... not vital but it helps to have each player able to browse at once.
Hope that helps!

Ultra Pro do make some nice stuff for organising cards.
I did this with a D ring binder which provides as much flexibility of storage as I want. Used a selection of Ultra Pro card pages and some coin collectors pockets - the 50mm ones hold upgrade cards and fighter bases quite nicely
As for the fleet?
Imperials:
5x Ties
4x Tie Interceptors
1x Tie Bomber
1x Tie Advanced
1x Tie Phantom
1x Tie Defender
1x Firespray
1x Lambda
Rebels:
4x X-wings
1x B-wing
1x A-wing
1x Y-wing
1x Hwk
1x E-wing
1x z95
1x YT-1300
1x Transport
1x Corvette
I do like to have one of everything.

I've flown against both of those and, well, I'm not sure single models clocking in a 50-ish points are a good idea. Y-wings just ruin their whole day.
22687
Post by: MajorTom11
50?? Not neccesarily... and yes, turrets will ruin their day (probably)... but the phantom is the single most agile ship in the entire game, not to mention the punch it has... it may be a glass cannon but in a skilled players hands it's a hell of a glass cannon. The ship seems to be doing a little too well to be dismissed out of hand... after all, those y-wings would't be too happy if it was a swarm they came up against instead... you can counter the phantom but if you do you leave yourself open to something else, as with most other things in the game.
I dunno, instead of flying against, fly with and see what you think, you may find the phantom great fun and very deadly if you can out-fly your opponent...

Currently I've got: Rebels: 3 x X-Wings 1 x A-Wing 1 x Y-Wing 1 x HWK-290 Imperial: 5 x Tie Fighters 1 x Tie Interceptor 1 x Tie Advanced 1 x Tie Interceptor My next plan is to bulk up the ships I have one of to smaller squadrons, so my next planned purchases are: 1 x A-Wing 1 x Y-Wing 2 x B-Wings 2 x Z-95 1 x Tie Interceptor 1 x Tie Phantom 1 x Tie Bombers Then a large ship for each faction to act as a centerpiece. For the Rebels this will either be a Falcon or the YT-2400 and the VT-49 Decimator for the Imperials. The Lambda Shuttle holds no appeal to me and I'm saving Slave 1 for when I start collecting S&V.

I have started properly collecting very recently after having the core set for about a year. So far:
Rebels
2 x X Wings
1 x HWK 290
1 x E Wing
Imperial
3 x Tie Fighters
1 x Tie Interceptor
1 x Tie Phantom
Phantom came through the post last night along with a dice pack.
I plan on getting a B Wing, A Wing and YT-2400 for the rebels and a Tie Bomber, another Tie Fighter and the Decimator for the Imps next. After this I'll likely move onto the S&V.
Might throw in the aces box sets for both sides at some time too.
Like LuciusAR I have no real interest in the Imperial Shuttle and as for the Falcon I'll wing it. if I spot one in the future I'll see how I feel but I'm not going out of my way to pick one up.

5 Z-95 Headhunter
1 HWK-290
1 YT-1300
1 GR-75
Imperials:
5 TIE/Ln
6 TIE/Int
2 TIE Advanced
2 TIE Bomber
2 TIE Phantom
2 TIE Defender
2 Firespray 31
2 Shuttle
That includes my Rebel Aces preorder. Sure, mistakes have been made... But, I love them all!

with miniaturemarket.com having its deal of the day today on the Tantive IV, one could say mistakes were made
Also picked up a second transport they had it in the retail store for $30.00 because he bridge piece had broken off, a shot of superglue will fix that
So that's a total of
2core sets (models from this are added below)
2 transports
2 tantive IV
5x-wings
3b wings
1each of all other released rebels
5 ties
3interceptors (1reg, 2 from the imperial aces)
1 each of all other released imperials
And playmat. In the background you might notice the build of my trench run that's in progress.
As for mistakes made....20+ years of buying GW crap

DANG. I'll say. Looks like a great fleet, RiTides. What made you go for Imps?

Hey, 6 naked Scimitar pilots is 96 points with a whopping 4 points left over to actually buy them stuff to shoot
I know that's not viable and that I'd only ever likely run 4 or 5, in a Bomber-heavy list, but I might try it once just for fun
16387
Post by: Manchu
Not just that but in larger games, especially against Rebel capital ships, bomber flights are super threatening.

Manchu wrote:Looks like a great fleet, RiTides. What made you go for Imps?
I'm hoping more people around here prefer Rebels- the person who gave me a demo game greatly preferred playing them. And I like the Imperial ships a bit more, and they're bigger . They fit nicely in my Infinity battlefoam bag, too, which will now be half Infinity and half X-wing (previously it was half empty).
Great to hear about the bombers, that same Rebel player has two capital ships which look like juicy targets

Just getting into X-Wing as I've thoroughly enjoyed what I've seen and played so far. Once I get a better hang of the game I'll no doubt pick up some extras to make particular builds. Currently I've got: 1x TIE Bomber. ( lol) On the way atm: 2x E-Wing 2x TIE Defender 2x TIE Phantom Other ordered to be delivered when stock is available (which could be a fair while sadly due to high demand): 6x TIE Fighter 2x TIE Bomber 2x TIE Interceptor 1x TIE Advanced 1x Imperial Aces 1x Slave 1 1x Lambda Shuttle 1x VT-49 Decimator 3x X-Wing 2x Y-Wing 2x A-Wing 2x B-Wing 1x Rebel Aces 1x Milenium Falcon 1x YT-2400 No hate, but given your quantity of some ships, have you played high point swarm lists? Does the game bog down when played like that?

Haha yeah I love me some original space stuff (prequel ground stuff though). I'll likely join you with a larger X-Wing fleet if I get confirmation that the game doesn't bog down too badly.
... my 3 SW: Armadas on pre-order ... bring it on! If that counts:
- 3x VSD's
- 3x Neb B's
- 3x CR90's iirc
- 18 TIE squadrons?

You'd be surprised how easy it is to find yourself with a huge collection.
I always try to buy SOMETHING when I spend a couple hours gaming at the FLGS... Just to support the place which hosted me for the last two/three hours...
At some point you start buying stuff you just don't "need".
Luckily, the wife and I have really taken to playing Epic. The game at 300pts, just feels more on a scale that reflects the movies, dog-fighting, and what we expect out table-top games to look like... and its FUN.
Once you start principally playing Epic... you suddenly don't feel so crazy owning 5-10 of a given ship. ;-)
