Turning him from a unique pestilent runt troll into a Troll Starscream is "Not a major change"?

The changed his lore but his skills I thought were just being renamed and tweaked.

^ I couldn't care less about the story, but the character is what I felt was important. Again, he went from a pretty unique character in the Fantasy genre, to Troll Starscream.

Ignoring how they completely changed the character (Which isn't a good sign for other, underpopular characters), they removed the tiny thing that made Trundle Trundle; his Tenacity Bonus.

Trundle was always the guy whom could not be held down in a fight, kinda like Irelia. They removed the Tenacity Bonus and gave him a Small bonus heal, which does no where near as much for his survivability. While I like the % health on his ult, it was honestly unneeded, as were most of the changes; all he actually needed was his Q to have a better animation/cast time, and he would have been perfect.

Trundle Before: Drop your Contaminate, make a beline for the back line, and slow/shred resists where needed. CC did nothing, so you just had to be tanky enough to take a few hits until your ADC dropped someone.

Trundle Now: Drop King's Domain or whatever it's called, and hope a minion wave keeps you alive long enough for you to start getting bonus health from your Lifesteal.

Huh... so the theory is with Trundle that you are a leet Pillarsmith, and keep your health up from your passive.
Very, very interesting idea. If I wasn't saving for Lissandra I might just try that out.

I just experienced late game Lux for the first time on ARAM. It's fun having Final Spark on a 30 second cooldown, with mana regeneration to match.

That's just late game Lux, period. I'm kinda sad that they increased her cooldown on her ult a couple patches ago, it used to be ~20 sec cooldown which was absolutely insane and I loved playing her in the Mid Lane just for that. It's still good, but not as good. I won't be able to spam it as much and weed out the bad players on my team when they complain that I'm "wasting my ult on minions" when I'm casting it nearly 3 times a minute.

Nah, decent Trundle Players can put a wall up to cut off an escape.

Good Trundle players can stick a pillar in between their assassin/Bruiser and your ADC, keeping them away and allowing your ADC to keep fighting/escape.

It's just very frustrating to get qualified, win first, lose two others with *horror* teams, then win all games until quali...repeat. For three more times in a row.

Oh, and Lulu free week is awesome, made me sure I don't get her. Her poking is unreliable and extremely mana-intensive if done right (else the range is too short) and the shield is lackluster. The ult is awesome and the transformation is good too, but overall, I still prefer Janna due to having tons of cc and even sustain. Or Sona for superior poking. Thinking about getting Leona, but fearing the adc I sometimes end up with...

Lulu is a support that really requires strong communication with your team to work properly, that's just not something you can do in solo queue. The reason why is that even though her kit is incredibly versatile, your ADC needs to know what's going on as much as you do and know what to expect in terms of all the CC and boosts that can come out of her kit.

Just played my first LoL game in like... 4 months

Absolutely terrible time playing. Not because I sucked (which I did, I've been trying to figure out where I fit into League's system. And I had the absolute worst time...

It was a bot game, and 2 of our players disconnected, I was trying to hold bot with Kayle (first game with her, and she does healing, which is something I was pretty good at in other games). So the entire game we had 1 person, who was obviously quite better than one of the other players and myself, who kept spamming the chat with "Report Kayle" and "Report Darius" just over and over. We said, "why don't you tell us what we're doing wrong instead of just yelling at us." Cassiopeia (the champ the guy was playing) then proceeded to call the Darius player a noob whenever he would say something in chat, and then we all grouped up and made a push down the center lane. Did okay too, and then we ran back as 3 of their champions were chasing us down. We regrouped, I followed Cassi around giving heals and invulns where I could, we got ganked by their entire team and then it was just a stream of "Report Kayle" over and over I told Cassi that my stuff was on CD, and I did heal and invuln her. And then as I was following her, she was having some difficulty with this big neutral monster that gives you a blue buff. I healed her since she was low on health, and tossed out my Q with Kayle and got the last hit (getting me the buff, which I didn't know was going to happen).

After tossing a stream of "Report Kayle for KS blue" the Cassi player "disconnected" (Though her icon on the left hand of my screen still had a green dot, which I assumed meant she was still actually in the game. I got teamwork honors and I gave teamwork honors to the one guy that stuck around with me, even though we lost. I reported the Cassi player for negative play and put the player on ignore...

It was just the worst experience ever :-\ Surprisingly enough, I had never had such an experience in Dota 2 (not starting an argument, just saying that my play in Dota 2 was more enjoyable) which sucks because I do enjoy both of the games... It's just I have less inclination to play LoL if I'm playing bot games and I'm getting yelled at like a championship is on the line D:

Sounds like a bad game. I only ever get those games in ranked anymore, and that's occasionally. Whenever someone just starts being like that, I just ignore them straight off (in-game, it's clicking the speech bubble on their line on the scoreboard). They're just tryhards that are frustrated that they can't win and can only take it out on others instead of actually playing the game to win.

Also, the green dot next to people's name lets you know if they have an ultimate ability (R ability) ready for use.

On a different note... I've decided the only way I can really grow as a player is to go beyond the solo queues and find a team to work with. I've begun looking for calls for players and I'm hopefully going to try out for a few of them soon.

I think that's also part of the allure to Dota 2 for me is that I have/had a group of Dakkanauts that played (they're the ones that "gifted" me the game in the first place. I'm trying to link up with the other 2 members of my old WoW PvP team, but they're off finishing finals and being students instead of a real adult like me . I mean I'm expecting one of them, possibly both of them, to give me gak for messing up or not being in the lane, etc... But at least I know I'd have fun playing with them again.

Also thanks for the heads up on the ultimate thing

I stopped DotA 2 because it is unplayable if you solo queue and Valve refused to fix very basic things such as region locking servers (especially keeping the Russians away from EUW servers). I don't know if that changed, but I haven't looked back since.

I have very little issue solo queuing, but then again I'm only looking for 4 other players atm instead of 9 other players. I don't feel comfortable playing real people until my skills are solidified enough to hold my own against bots (even at the beginner level I get roflstomped).

League of Legends @ 2013/05/13 19:48:28

Post by: Sigvatr

The problem with DotA is the terrible matchmaking. If your ELO gets high enough, it becomes impossible to win since you will always face 3-4 man premades and they'll easily tear you apart. LoL has the solo / duo queue which helps a lot.

It wasn't just because we were down 2 players (albeit, I like how Dota 2 handles afks in bot games, but both games have their appeal to me). The guy started while we were all still mostly there. He kept telling us to report the guy that 1st disconnected, and then it became report Kayle and Darius while the weird bug thing kog'maw? was still playing with us, and then it was incessant after he disconnected.

Like I said, i'm trying to get my friends to play with me, but they're pretty hard to nail down since they have their own teams they play with.

Had probably one of the most entertaining ranked games I'll ever have. It was all about how I (as Nami) had one of the most epic ward battles with their Zyra support and baiting so many fights.

About 8 minutes in, Zyra and I started battling with pink wards at Dragon, trying to win vision. It was broken up fast when their Trundle showed up and started chasing me back towards my blue (I was on top side). There it was a 4v4, Mid, Bot and Jungle pitted against each other and we came up 3-1 (and I had the last standing ward). \

But then their ADC gained some serious momentum and threatened to go out of control when our top laner realized that too many fights were happening at dragon for him not to be there. He recalled and suddenly we had a 5v3 pushing down the bottom lane, taking a turret and dragon.

They retaliated, pushing us up against our inner turrets. The whole time Zyra and I are fighting each other with pink wards and occasionally actual abilities. Eventually, my persistent warding won off and we caught them out of position at the right time to set up momentum to win the game.

Yes, other players besides support should buy wards (which they did, I was so happy) but the support really does win games on the back of how hard they ward, even when constantly being in a ward fight. If you want to be successful as the support, it's definitely the efforts you make that don't appear on the scoreboard that make the most difference.

The problem is that demoting doesn't happen fast enough.

When you get promoted, you are at 0 LP. The problem is: so are the worst people of your new class. Thus not only do you have to win 2/3 promotion matches, you also have to then keep winning despite having terrible teammates (and I mean REALLY terrible, like Draven players not being able to catch their Spinning Axes) in order to stay in the division.

The system is in dire need of a rework e.g. by softer division borders in a class e.g. it's still as hard as it is now to get into another class (Silver, Gold, Plat etc.), but it's easier to change the division in order to avoid the 0 LP trap.

League wise I've just stopped caring to be honest. To get promoted you probably need to go on a 5 game winning streak - 2 or 3 to get to 100 pts and then 2 to get promoted. You then go up on 0pts, lose 3 on the trot and are looking at relegation all over again. Playing support is so frustrating as well as if your ADC can't farm and you get no jungle help then it is almost impossible for you to do anything other than make the game last a bit longer.

I'm seeing lots of "report all my team apart from Thresh" and similar comments, so I'm playing pretty well at the moment and, not wanted to sound big headed, I think my support play [certainly in the early game] is of a level at least a league higher but many bronze players don't know how to play off a good support. When your ADC starts off 0-3 in less than 10 minutes you're in trouble.

I've been stuck in mid-Silver for some time. It seems that the only way to advance when once you've become mechanically good enough to hang with better players is to start calling the shots for your team. The key is to have a decent early game and make some simple calls that show you know what you're talking about. With any luck people will follow your "orders" by late game.

I think that means the system thinks your skill level is matching your ranking and doesn't flux you as much where as it's allowing me to climb but penalizing me more for failing.

Actually, I have no idea. It's quite unpredictable at times but at least you're not winning ~5 LP and loosing 10+ LP. That is frustrating when it happens.

Gone back to AP Sona btw...there's no other build that can deal with solo queue that well. Even with a not-so-good adc, you still pump out damn high amounts of damage. Sona's damage is underestimated a LOT by people, her AP ratios are incredible. Lich Bane + Q + Power Chord takes an enemy Ez at lvl 10 below 50% hp in 1 shot...it's awesome.

Mejai's is, imo, a must have on Sona. She has the easiest way to stack up on assists and I usually end the game with about ~13-17 charges. Her main problem is her defense, thus Rylai is pretty much a given on her. But overall, she has excellent poking, excellent sustain, a slow, a high damage AoE stun and one of the best passives in the game.

I'm never going to bother with ranked because:

A) I don't want to deal with the stress of raging teammates

B) I really don't take League seriously. It's a game. When people are like "If it's only a game then you shouldn't play ranked" to my friends that do, then I'm out.

I'm there to relax, not to get stressed.

To be perfectly honest, normals aren't safe either. You still get ridiculous tryhards in a normal game. It's not ranked that's the problem, it's the toxic players you get paired with.

Bingo. Honestly, I started ranked because I thought it would enable me to escape the trolls. It is worse than normals in that regard, which greatly surprised me.

But I still enjoy the competition. Once I improve in rank, the trolls will be left behind and I can enjoy games with people as skilled and as serious as I am.

The only ways I've found to dodge them so far is ARAM, full premades and bot games.

Full premade has the advantage of still being able to play ranked if you feel like the added challenge. But until you get high enough it's more or less the same as normals.

Lately i've been playing Gold Plank in ranked. If you get him down right, he's an unstoppable force. Your early game is a little weaker, but you just completely out-farm your opponent and you get an insane gold advantage.

Basically you stack GP10 runes, get GP10 from your masteries, and grab pick-pocket. Rush avarice blade and philo's, and start raking in the cash

I start the game with 7GP10, and it goes up to 14GP10 + Parley + Pickpocket + Avarice Blade.

So basically, any support setup with Parrrrley on top? The gold gain isn't much higher than before and you can no longer trade with the enemy or rather lose the trades due to your enemy having packed crit / atk dmg / survivability / etc. runes. On top of that, GP is very lackluster - his ult is very random and barely deals damage and against a decent opponent, Parrley is your only way of having a decent farm. He just can't catch up with the current meta.

Basically, every game I have played with him, I have at least a 4k gold advantage on EVERYONE by the end. My average game i've gotten 600 gold from parley, and probably around 3k from runes, masteries, and items. Goldplank isn't all about gangplank, but he is the ideal champion to get a gold advantage with.

Besides, parley not only gives you a little extra gold and poke, but it also gives you the ability to farm more effectively, never missing a minion. His 'w' gives him loads of health, and its a free cleanse... making you almost ungankable. His 'e' gives him ad and move speed, when you activate it, it gives you attack speed and more move speed... which is incredible. Unless you've played gangplank you never truly appreciate his ultimate. Before i played him, i thought it was stupid. It is actually incredible if you can use it properly, it gives other lanes something that will slow and do some damage when they want ganks... which is an incredible tool. You can also farm minion waves if they pile up... which is also very useful.

When you are an item ahead of everyone else you become a complete monster. I usually get ninja tabi, infinity edge, frozen mallet, static shiv, warmogs, and a bloodthirster. Gives you about 4k health, and some serious poke. Sometimes I sell static shiv at the end for trinity force.

And LoL isn't just about good early game trades. Its about overcoming your opponents in the transition to late game. Sometimes that means getting kills early on, sometimes that means getting shittons way more gold than your opponent.

If your opponent is hyper aggressive, you can farm with parley and he will end up pushing to your turret where you can farm every minion safely. If he isn't super aggressive, no difference.

Got to add. Nothing beats kill securing from across the map when bot gets into a team fight/ jungle gank. (though mostly for assist.) and you cant forget that it also reveals the area, drop it partially on a bush i believe it should reveal everything.

GP ulti is great support utility, that's about it. also it announces "teamfight!" like no ones business

In their defense, If I get Nami, I'm pretty good with landing those stuns. Infact, it's a solid chance of winning should I get a support champ, especially Sona. She's quite OP.

This is in ARAM, but this is what I typically do (And have not lost yet with her):

1) Take AP Runes and masteries, support does no good and she needs the AP boost
2) Start with 1xQ and 2xW, Skill priority is: R, W, Q, E
3) Buy Chalice of Harmony and (I think boots) Don't buy health pots, just hold onto the excess money
4) Get up to the front lines and spam your W like a madman (Heals and gives a defensive aura)
5) If a teamfight starts, if your team is winning switch to Q, if losing maintain W
6) When you hit Level 6 (You should without dying) you will be a goddess of teamfights. Wait until the enemies pile onto your team, stun them all and spam W or Q as in step 5
7) Eventually you will die, buy a runic bulwark, cooldown boots, unholy grail and AP items.
8) Repeat step 5 and 6 until you receive the win.

The thing is, she's a sustaining queen with a opening chalice. She will rarely ever run out of mana and just keep your team all healed up. Also, whoever gets healed gets a temp boost to defensive stats as well. She does a surprising amount of damage with her Q when you want to get on the offensive and your E will help people escape when running from a lost teamfight. She dictates the fight and the quality of her play will decide if the team wins or loses. I will always trade for her whenever someone on my team gets her beacuse she is so beast.

Sona is, arguably, the best support right now. She has the highest damage poking in the game, has reliable sustain and a AoE stun to back it al up...not to mention her extremely valuable passive sub-effects. ADC with constant 20 bonus damage? Yes please. Quick armor / marmor boost? Yes yes yes. Sona's only weakness is her terrible defense...lowest HP in the game, lowest starting armor, not scaling well. She needs a good player who knows her AoE by heart so that you can quickly Q and move away immediately. And the icing of the cake: her AP ratios.

OP though? No. She is paper thin and a single mistake will always death for you. If you can play her, though, she just kicks ass. Works extremely well for solo queue too, just go AP.

Items: Tear of The Goddess, Sight Stone, Vision Stone, AP Pen Boots, Meja's (YES, I am serious. No other champs gets supports as easy as Sona does.), Sheen, Lich Bane, AP hat.

Skill order: max Q, max W, max R, 1 lvl of E at 8.

Playstyle in teamfights: QWQWQWQWQWQWQW. Spam your Q. Spam your W. Ult at the right time.

Her stun is easy to dodge when you're used to its animations, but overall, the people I get matched up with / against are far worse than in Normal Games. Can't dodge any skillshots making Nidalee an auto-win, lack of proper positioning etc. But well, it's ARAM, what do I care Riot said it will not be balanced and ye, if you got combos like Fiddle + Soraka, it's close to autowin for that side.

League of Legends @ 2013/06/05 02:29:46

Supports in ARAM are very powerful because they provide sustain in a game that otherwise has little.

In their defense, champions like Nidalee are the king/queens of ARAM. ARAM is a poke war until late game when it becomes a tank war but typically a game is over during mid-game. A team that gets champions like Nidalee, Ziggs, Brand, Ezrael, etc. Anyone with really strong ranged poke is going to have a big advantage for most of the game. Throw in a support and it gets even better especially if that support is Sona or Soraka.

Gotta correct myself:

Yi is ridiculously broken in ARAM. Getting him is an autowin in most cases. Just...remove him from the pool :/

League of Legends @ 2013/06/05 15:57:32

Post by: Spyder68

Yi is far from Auto win.

A good player vs a average team yea it can be, people just have to play smart.

If he uses his Q and no one dies in a team fight, Yi is dead.

All you need is 1 person with a Stun, Silence, Knockback, Knockup or any kind of interrupt and hes dead.

I got lux against him the other night and 3 button killed him before he could even heal.

It just depends on the matchup and situation.

League of Legends @ 2013/06/05 22:34:21

AP Yi is pretty powerful in ARAM. Because you can't 'b' most people will start stacking sustain over tank. AP Yi will just alpha into the team around midgame (assuming he's been properly fed) and autokilling the squishies who also happen to be the pokers in most cases. He'll then die 50% of the time and get to B and use the money he just got to get stronger. He'll fall off in late game but, most LoL games are over by the end of mid-game whether your team is smart enough to realize they've lost or not.

Snowball champs in general can do well in ARAM. AP Yi, Katarina, Diana, and LeBlanc need team support though to get fed and start rolling. Once they've snowballed its really had to stop them in such a small map.

EDIT: Oh, and while talking about who gets awesome in ARAM, who do you guys think gets screwed?

My vote: Nasus cause he can't stack his Q. He's delegated pretty much to a tank and not a particularly good one outside of his awesome slow. If the ratio on his AoE was higher I think he'd be better in ARAM.

League of Legends @ 2013/06/05 22:41:51

Post by: Sigvatr

Ye, that's the main prob. He can constantly deal damage to the enemy team (a lot of dmg actually) while having high amounts of sustain.

Nidalee is still worse though. No wards to dodge spears, forced in a rather narrow corridor, no healing at base and bonus mana reg allow nid to spam her Q and deal insane amounts of damage. Nidallee fully breaks ARAM at the moment and is max unfun.

I don't think ARAM is at all intended to be balanced (especially with what I call the 'Random Fairy' who will screw your team by pure chance by giving you a crappy comp). ARAM is something you only do for laughs to see how insanely out of hand team fights get.

League of Legends @ 2013/06/05 23:12:00

Post by: Sigvatr

Oh, not saying that it should be balanced - it cannot be balanced since it's...well...random. That's the reason it's a fun mode

It's just very frustrating when you play vs. champs that completely break the mode.

Poppy is actually not that bad because there's always a wall a short distance away. Her ultimate is the best diving ability ever, setting up perfect team fights.....so long as your team has the ability (and knowledge) to follow up when you plow into them.

Never works like that though - unlike in normal games when you can come at the enemy from the side/bushes, ARAM has you often heading for them straight on - so very difficult to charge them into a wall. You get killed trying to get into a position to charge or you charge straight on and with no wall to hit the damage you do is ... disappointing. Then you die. Only a real dumb player stands next to the bushes when they know there's charging champions in there. Ulti wise - they just run away ... if they're faster than you and/or have flash you're in trouble.

ARAM is weird. I pick Shaco and I'll go like 2/12 and vow never to again. If I get him on ARAM I'll go like 12/2 and want to pick him...

Champs like Janna really shine there too. It's all about who can easily take advantage of the confined space.

And this is where I disagree, patience is the virture with playing Poppy in ARAM. Thankfully, she's tanky as heck so she can take a few hits while trying to position but eventually they will get out of position and you will beat someone's face in. If they're really careful, then all you have to do is pop your ult, charge in and hope your team follows. No need for stuns there, you just 5 man taunted into their team with you being pretty much invincible.

poppy is amazing in Aram.

Walls aren't far away.

If Poppy can hide in the bush a bit, then a enemy champ goes up to poke, she can jump out and push the enemy into the team away from the others.

Makes for easy kills.

I dunno AP nasus with that AOE gets nasty on that map. its not amazing amount of damage but it has a decent cast range.

his Slow though is brutal for anyone out of position.

the champs i always have a relatively hard time with on aram are assassins like akali, kass. you are pretty much always in the open so no surprise ganks at all. though team fights anything and everything happens.

League of Legends @ 2013/06/07 17:45:33

Post by: YotsubaSnake

Assassins are special in ARAM, you really have to be patient with them. If you're too aggressive, you will get blown up before you accomplish anything. You actually have to wait for them to commit on the dive so you can jump on their carries and destroy them before they can turn around and stop you. Akali does this well because she can jump around. My favorite has to be Fizz though, his ult is likely to hit multiple people and his playful/trickster just really frustrates them when you do dive in.

Katarina is one assassin that does well in ARAM. She's got the chaining knife attack for the early game, and once she hits level 6 she's great in team fights. Throw knife, teleport, spin and ult, then repeat the process on any survivors.

Just remove Nidalee from ARAM. Seriously. Nidalee is an autowin for the team that gets her and that's just broken beyond hell. You barely got space to dodge her spears, you cannot heal at the fountain and she got unlimited mana. Stupidly OP: Remove her from ARAM. Now.

The same can be said for Yi, Jayce, Ezreal, Sona, Heimerdinger, Ziggs and a few others that escape me right now. My win% with those champs is ridiculously high on ARAM. However, no champ is an "autowin". They can be countered and beaten and are incapable of carrying a bad team by themselves. It's unfortunate that majority of the players in ARAM have no idea that this is possible and just resign to their fate of losing to them.

The biggest issue people seem to have with Nid is learning to dodge sideways from her spear, rather than trying to outrun it (which only increases its damage!).

There are plenty of powerful ARAM champs and absolutely none of them should be taken out.

The biggest problem in AR is that due to the passive bonusses, she is able to spam her Q and due to the lack of wards, you lose out on a lot of reaction time thus it's very easy to zone your enemies. And the hitbox...I mean, really -_-

Then I'm curious as to why you play ARAM? That's the purest defintion of luck in LoL. Games take just as long on ARAM as much as they do on Summoner's Rift if you're actually playing the game. Infact, longer because nobody ever really surrenders in ARAM when SR usually has 20 min surrenders when one team gets dominated.

Yeah, it's a 15 min ban, but I then spent ~30 min working on a project, then coming back and playing another game. I won't spend a single second on a game that's only frustrating because of it being decided by sheer luck

Most matchups in ARAM aren't a problem. It is mostly driven by luck, with every matchup, but specific matchups like I described are unwinnable assuming the teams are even borderline equally balanced...and I cba to spend time on this.

Did Riot change the matchmaking with the latest patch? I keep getting extremely terrible matchups since then.

Terrible as in worse opponents or stronger opponents?

In ranked, since the new patch I'm actually playing against other S5 players as opposed to B2-B1 players all the time but that may just have been a shift in my score after I had a team to pull out a win in a game we had no business winning.

I only play ARAM and the matchmaking is completely off-target right now. ELO is very wide-spread among the teams and I always have at least 1 really terrible player on my team. On the other hand, I face a lot more pre-mades now, mostly 3-man premades.

Sure, ARAM is fully based on luck, but it's the matchmaking that seems to be really weird since the patch. I don't know what they did, but it's bad :/

On the other hand, I get a lot of really weird games that are way too easy.

It was a lot better pre-patch. Sure, not good, but post-patch, it's really weird. Idk what happened :(

I'm so bad at this game. I just started.

Any advice for a constant "feeder" who prefers melee over anything else?

Well if you prefer melee, you're probably best going after bruiser champions rather than the squishier melee carries like Yi, Fiora, etc. Hmm this rotation isn't really the best for that sort of thing either, leaving you with just Mundo for now. He's decent and can have crazy health regen though. There's still Aatrox who I think works well with attack speed and a little damage rather than full damage.

Either way if you're probably going to want to buy Frozen Mallet for most of them at some point. adding a little slow onto your auto attacks. For some of them (like Vi, Shivana and Garen) this is the main way you're going to stick to the enemy, all of those have a gap closer to help as well. But the slow is nice to have.

I'd say look for champions like Garen (he's resourceless, pretty forgiving), Darius and perhaps Wukong.

This is not to say Yi is bad either, with practice he can be decent. He's just a bit squishy at times. though for a melee starter I'd recommend him as well due to his ultimate saving him from slows and his heal helping you stay around longer.

I've played against those teams we call stacked... they have brand, yi, fiddle.... and my team will lose the poke war, yes, but we win because we are simply better players.

Warwick is easy to use too, but jungle might be too advanced for malfred see if you can get solo top.

If you've just started playing the matchmaking process might not have found the right spot for you yet, i.e. you might play versus more experienced players. That'll change while you percolate to a more adequate "skill"-interval.
Other than that i've got some random basic advice:
a) Try to last hit minions unless there is someone else in your lane who needs the gold more than you (e.g. a ranged non magic class). You don't need to hit the enemies minions constantly, just wait until they are nearly dead and finish them off. You only get gold for them if they die by your action regardless of damage dealt before that point.
b) Do not overextend, i.e. try not to push your minion wave too far away from your own tower and do not walk around too far from it. That way you might have the chance to escape an attack.
c) Try to always know where the enemy champions are; notify your teammates if one of "your" enemies leaves your lane and be alert if you read or see such a warning from someone else.
d) Use wards to help with c)

That's what I was talking of. It's not that I haven't won against stuff like Nida / Yi yet, it's that in those situations, the enemy team was terribly bad. Same vice versa. Winning a match with Nidalee and going 39 - 4 is a joke and is a sign of very poor matchmaking. Luck doesn't refer to heroes alone, it also refers to matchmaking, especially when you solo queue.

Almost won a 4v5 ARAM today. Our Morgana chickened out on seeing their lineup having both Yi and Nidalee and left the game. We were seconds away from killing their nexus before Yi respawned and stopped us. Shame the Morgana figured she had something better to do with her time. We would have probably won with the 5th player.

It's actually easier. You don't have to worry about laning so much, it's just pvp. Fountain can't heal you so escaping low isn't as important either.

It's like a more laid back version of it.

It's a very casual and fast paced way of playing league. All teamfights, all the time. I think it's also an amazing way to learn new champs because it forces you onto someone and you either sink or swim and when you get a new champ you can beat face with? Life is good.

Advice for shutting down Ezio Talon anyone? I can never seem to deal with him, though I've only gone against him as Akali. Would Morgana be a better pick?

No. though Morgana could "deal" with him.

if you get counter picked, switch to defense asap and rush some armor.

If not stick a tank on them and watch talon cry

duno about ezio

The best advice I can give is, assuming this is mid lane, rush seeker's armguard and farm from range. Armguard gives you the extra bit of durability against his physical attacks so he can't harrass you as easily and staying back (which most mid laners can do) keeps him off of you.

But Akali should do well against him. I would recommend farming from a distance with your Q until lvl 6, then just wait for him to slip up and destroy him with your gap closing ult. Even better if he uses his ult before you go in, then he can't just "disappear" from you.

League of Legends @ 2013/07/09 11:59:08

Post by: liquidjoshi

Blind picks rather than counter picks, not in ranked yet. His rake hits harder than my Q, so he can out harass me, farm better, etc. At 6 he can just destroy of with his full combo - just seems like I need to throw my top lane at him and go top instead. Would rushing Thornmail be a good idea?

League of Legends @ 2013/07/09 12:03:19

Post by: SagesStone

Thornmail won't work. Talon does his damage through skills instead of autos so it doesn't really help out. With Akali I'd say you'd have to play aggressive and give yourself an advantage early on then try to keep on the pressure so you win exchanges. If you can keep him a little low, he shouldn't try to do much.

League of Legends @ 2013/07/09 14:24:07

Post by: YotsubaSnake

Remember, Akali's stealth field is also a slow. If I were having to attack a Talon in mid lane with Akali, I would def drop it on him when I went in. (Ult in, drop slow, start beating face)

You'll need some armor though to keep him from bursting you as easily, which is why a seeker's armguard is so good. Gives you both damage to your skills and defense as well as building into an hourglass for those late game team fights. (Dive in to burst someone, when they look at you pop the hourglass. If they still try to get you while you're in stasis, your team should just roll them)

I'll finish it off with a reminder that when you do dive in, stay inside your stealth field. It slows him and buffs you. If he gets out of it, don't chase unless an ult jump can kill him. Bide your time as Akali and destroy squishy targets out of position.

So over the summer, my laptop was dead and I didn't play for two months, and I got demoted to bronze 1.

So i'm like, alright, it'll be super easy to get out of bronze. And it is, I'm winning all my games... so I was just at 96 LP Bronze 1 okay? I won a game, got 2 LP, won another, got 1 LP. I am now at 99 LP. I then proceeded to win my next two games, and got 0 LP for both, and I am still at 99 LP Bronze 1. What the hell am I supposed to do?

Keep playing I guess, and hope you don't lose a ton of points if you lose a game.

Where were you beforehand, out of interest?
