Thanks Anvildude. In a way, yes. Certainly any more Orks are going to get re-posed. But my "army" is not a typical army and I doubt I'll reach the numbers of just Orks that others may use for an whole Ork army. (You'll have to see my army's blog to get a full understanding) Without "needing" to play the game, I can take my time on every army member and give them all the love they deserve. Nice work people.

Sadly I only have some mid build pictures, I want to eventually make a improved version with a lower silhouette. Meanwhile im gonna go over this one again and make it look not so empty around the turret with added bitz etc.
WIP pics
On this variant I used the original turret ring which prevented me from lowering the weaponary as much as I wanted. The gun are attached to the middle piece with the original mounting parts (the discs).

Hands are tricky. The pointing hand took me 2 days to do overall (waiting for GS to partially harden so I could work on it). The gun hand is a GS press mould.
McMurrough, mercenary dog-warrior for infinity, converted from a Devil Dog (different werewolf model) because the official one wears a kilt, and dogs in skirts are ridiculous.
So I gave him red/black tartan trousers instead.

First up, my Juve. I made this from a Khone Bloodbound (Shadespire), a Stub pistol, and a Space Marine knife.

Both these poses were shamelessly stolen from other people who posted on Facebook.

Only if she was floating stationary! My intention is that she's ascending upward/forward in the middle of battlefield, a beacon to her sisters - thus it's blowing down and back as she moves. The direction GW modelled her scrolls/parchments and robes suggests a forward motion as well, with wind blowing those pieces backward.

sorry for the poor 6 year old photos
the mix of space marine, catachan, and necromunda parts really worked well for a battered urban fighter...
this guy is my all-time favorite conversion, 'cause he looks like a stock model...
he is 22 different parts, from sources such as the inquisitor tech-priest, the iron warriors, space wolves, plastic dread, and necron destroyer...
he was built way back in '01, so the only source for the pointing powerfist was the chaos marines...
the star and the exhaust pipes were carved off, and the spot where the star was scrapped off got covered with a crux terminatus from the dread...
the chest is from the iron warriors bitz...
the shoulder pads are from the land raider sprue...
the head is a sergeant from the regular marine box, as well as the legs...
the scroll and skull on his shin are carved from a dread sarchophagus...
the bolter is from a special edition captain...
the icon on his belt if from the inquisitor tech-priest...
the big purity seal on his chest is from the dread...
the knife is from the space wolves(with the little wolf skull carved off, then the knife was flipped around, and a new skull added)...
the backpack is from the black library limited edition leonatus...
and finally, the necron is a destroyer head and spine...
thanks for lookin'...
cheers

Been a while since I've done something that could be considered "just" a conversion (too much scratch-building).
But I'm very pleased with this one so certainly qualifies for my "best" conversion model... for now.
Starting with the SDE wolfrider miniature, I converted it to a model of San from the anime Princess Mononoke (where the inspiration obviously came from).
Much carving, gap-filling, sculpting with putty, and a scratch-build display base.
Separate from the base:
Keep up the good work everyone.

I always meant to post in this thread so I'll post one of my first real conversions that's worth mentioning.
I think he was a Catachan Sgt, genericized him by removing all the Imperial symbols (belt and canteen). I don't think he had a gun when I got him so I pinned up that one (got magnets to go in the pinholes now so any gun or blade can work) and chopped the chainblade for a power machete.. or more like falchion here. And of course shaved down the dome to give him some stylish headgear.
And my most recent conversion, a Goliath or perhaps bounty hunter. The hands needed just slight tweaks to get the fingers sitting on triggers. Those Goliath heads are quite lacking when you don't have any extra necks, I had to build most of that, then made the chinstrap/neck guard thing like it appears in the book. Also added strap holsters and some gubbins after smoothing some of the shackles and removing any Khorne symbols.
For the guy on the right, he isn't done but I went ahead and sculpted/carved a the back of the skull and neck and cleaned off the Khorne scarring.
