I like the idea, I am not a pro by any means but wanting to do my best for another might be a good way to improve skills.
My thinking is that I will post a picture of a mini or my own later tonight and see if anyone bite. And the worst thing that can happen (beside loosing the mini) is that I will feel the need of stripping it.
Sounds like a cool idea, I'd love to see this get some traction! Less grey mins, more fun stuff for us painters to paint, it's a win-win!
@Hawehu: Perhaps, if you're willing to put in the effort, you could keep the OP updated with a list of volunteers to paint (organised by country), and for each have:
- link to their profile (for PMing to organise stuff) and gallery
- a few (spoilered) pictures of their work, across genres if possible
- list of what they would be willing to paint (range, scale, quantity ect)
- eventually number of volunteer 'commissions' completed
Hawehu@hotmail.com wrote: This is an idea i got from another thread, and i think it might be a good idea.
Some people are known to play the army of grey, while others paint faster than they earn money.
I figured, let those guys meet here and talk.
So im thinking, if you are interested in painting a certain model, perhaps borrow it for a while as payment, state it here.
On the other side, if you have a model you want painted, but dont want to pay to get it done, state here what model and someone may want to do it.
Have at it, lets see if this can work.
Maybe you could get someone to write an App for that???
MB P.S. good idea... I am working on some Starships that I know I will not be able to do justice to some of the details I am doing, and I would completely allow someone to use them for a few months if they would paint them for me.
Seems like good ideas, i will perhaps do something if this thread goes anywhere.
Doesnt seem like many people are willing to paint or get stuff painted yet.
Automatically Appended Next Post: I imagined that some people wouldnt mind if the quality wasnt supergood, as there is no payment, so if somebody want to paint, they can offer to do it, then show a pic or something.
And if we have people do their interactions through this thread then it is public knowledge, so harder to do fishy business.
Well, I will start of... I have been sitting on this mini for a while and don't really have any inspiration for it...
It's a librarian from the Dark Vengeance box and I am playing Dark Angels. So basicly a blue paintscheme of the librarians, I have no preference on any of the detailing. If you are willing to do your best and think you will enjoy it you are welcome to have a go.
Also I am willing to paint something of similar size and complexity. I am thinking about a 3 month duration should be good. Personally I am in it for the challenge so I don't really mind the borrowing. Also, international works for me, the postage should be low since it's a small piece.
Exellent granander.
Your skill is so good, i am tempted to send you some of my models, although i made this thread for people who have problems either getting their hands on new models to paint or problems painting new models.
You are based in Europe, but i dont think it will be a huge cost to send stuff to and from America either.
Anyways cheaper than shipping plus painting costs.
Hoping someone will send you a model, but if not, i will, just to get this going.
That librarian is from dark vengeance and it looks pretty sweet. I have it myself and it is unpainted here too.
I have a few figures I believe that folk might find an interesting change - original metal Confrontation wolfen, strange promotional pieces, weird small dragons, etc.
I'm reasonable standard myself and wouldn't volunteer when I don't have time.
My question is what stops someone rolling up and volunteering but then perpetuating the problem by sitting on the figure? Would you enforce a return limit (3-6 months or something)? Life can throw curves and I'd hate to see a project with ace intentions turn sour.
Maybe prepaid return labels to help out? You can certainly do those with PayPal these days, even abroad (I'd be happy to put a small guide together on how).

True enough, there would be that danger (although I'd hate to think anyone here would delay deliberately, but as your say life can mess stuff up). Personally I reckon I'd be able to turn something around in a week or so at the moment and only hang onto it long enough to take pics (I hardly get to game with my own stuff, let alone anyone else's) but for longer periods and people borrowing minis it might be worth it to do prepaid labels or something.
As for the minis, feel free to post or PM me some pics, sounds like you might have some stuff that would make a nice change!
@Granader: the only reason I won't take you up on that is that the last time I painted that mini it turned out horribly. But if you have any other DA (preferably greenies or Deathwing, I'm not too hot on Ravenwing) you want done then let me know! I'd certainly like another shot at the DV Company Master if you wanted him done!
Roknar wrote:I might try this is there was an app to support and organize this a bit better, but I am currently not in a position to make one.
To be honest not even an app, just a consolidated Google spreadsheet with a couple of folk with editing access, Name, Figure, Painter, Date sent, Return By, Returned, etc. and it's easy enough to track.
Second page/sheet for completed logs and a mirror for record keeping.
I'm sure smarter people could think of a better way, but there's one that only takes 10 minutes.

Oh I certainly didn't mean anything untoward, but just how "tomorrow" becomes next weekend, and that slipped, and is it June already? Add the artist delay mindset, and it just happens.
For example I had one plane to paint this month and due to various family malady, it's just not happened.
I'll have a think and post up later, you're certainly entitled to first dibs on what I find. I tend to pick up pieces that are of no earthly gaming use but have a nice narrative or inexplicable personal resonance. But due to that's non gaming use, they just slide back...

Yeah, I definitely wasn't suggesting anyone here would actively hold on to stuff too long or not pull through on the deal or anything, just that I'm sure both parties would benefit from having some kind of assurance in place. I like the online spreadsheet idea, that would be a good way of keeping everything in one place.

I will bitch and whine a bit but I will get over it. Over time you build trust even with forum contacts.
Yes good ideas for security, you are welcome to take this further if you like.
I myself just saw the possible market for this instead of paying to paint or get stuff painted.
To me it seems safe enough just because most people are what, 30 years old, and one or two models are not worth throwing away the profile here for.
Automatically Appended Next Post: I mean, check out each other on facebook, talk on skype, make an agreement in public here, that should make it safe enough, and as granander said, dont give away invaluable stuff, atleast not first time you send someone something.
Build up relationships that last for years, get stuff painted both ways, this is the awesomethread...

If anyone from aus or nz wants in on this, I have no motivation to paint my own stuff and EVERY motivation to paint someone elses.
What I would really like would be to assemble stuff - If you have stuff that needs assembly and/or painting, I am all over that like a fat girl on a cupcake
Edit: Curse you dakkaflag, I am in Sydney, not Tokyo
I would be interested. My painting isn't near the level of some on here. So would it be a one model thing? or a squad? I am a slow painter. so usually 18-23 hours for a vehicle, and 4 hours for a space marine, 9-14 for characters like Calgar or banners. I paint for fun and like to do random models for friends.
Snoopdeville3 wrote: This is a great way to get your mini stolen, and no help from paypal...
It is, that is why you REALLY have to be picky and make judgement calls on who to send to. And as stated before, be prepared to lose your mini in a worst case scenario.
Snoopdeville3 wrote: This is a great way to get your mini stolen, and no help from paypal...
Which is why we're talking about miniatures, and not your first born child.
I mean unless you really don't like your child very much.
Please don't send me (or anyone else) a child.
At the moment only I can edit it, but if you PM an email address, then I can add you, and then I think you can add more people and it can daisychain.
I am not leaving it open-edit because that would mean anyone (or their cat) could delete the entire contents.
If that's a faff, just comment and someone will doubtless slap stuff onto it.
Anyway - if anyone fancies having a crack at Josef Bugman (he can either hold a barstool, or a dwarven axe, and comes with both a floor diorama of his spilt pint, and a standard WHF base)
I don't mind which option as long as you don't put him on a standard WHF base with the stool, which would just be funny and useless.
Spoiler:
Alternatively there is Varghar (your choice of assembled or partly built) - random wash-test marine for scale:
I'll photocopy the cards in his blister for you to use. He is heavy.
Spoiler:
Bonus round: And if you really hate yourself you can have a crack at this thing that I am in no hurry to have back. I don't know what it is but it's a small child's fist worth of second hand terror.
Spoiler:
I'll paste up some painting examples of my stuff after the weekend when I know I can give full attention.
I've got no problem with that!
unless Paradigm wants to join in on the self-abuse and try that thing out, as I offered him(?) first choice of weirdness.
If you reuse the packaging I send it in, it should be fine, and I'll paypal you the cost to send it back, if and when.
Can I throw my hat in as a volunteer. .. im no golden deamon winner but have won several local comps.
I'm also fairly adept at converting miniatures, around eighty percent of my own armies are conversions. I specialise in chaos miniatures, but would willingly paint any other armies. Please feel free to check out my gallery for more
@Buttery Commissar: that half dragon half wolf thing does look like quite the challenge, but since kb_lock asked first I'm more than happy for him to have a crack at it.
I've currently agreed to do the Dark Angel Master for Granader, and don't want to take on two projects at once, but if no one else has taken up Bugman once I'm done with that (should be fairly quick once I get it) then I'd like to have a shot at it.
I'm easy yo, I don't think I'd do the bugman justice (and I don't like dwarves).
I won't be offended if you want to wait for Paradigm, BC - all I am trying to do is find something to paint, and the metric ton of plastic in my house isn't appealing enough apparently
You're up, kb. Just PM me your address, and stuff, and I'll try and get him out to you after the bank holiday.
Paradigm, considering I have at least three of him, you're welcome to try a Bugman any time if/when you fancy. Likewise anyone else reading this.
When visiting WHW I made the mistake of thinking "I need a second one for the other option!" and forgetting how many times I'd already done that. Back then he was only £8-something so it wasn't that much of an error.
Awesome, look forward to the pressure of having someone else's mini to work on (comps arent enough pressure, apparently).
Also, if anyone wants something to paint, I have an old set of khorne bezerkers, some orks, and maybe an escape from goblin town hero (or 8) if anyone is keen. I also have some metal space wolve characters i have no interest in painting. If anything interests you, let me know.
Since I've yet to hear from Granader (no worries if you're too busy right now, the offer will still stand!) so if anyone else has anything then I'm available!
Sure thing! It might have to be the weekend, because I have convention flu after dealing with 1200 people in close proximity to my lunch over the bank holiday.
Buttery Commissar wrote: Sure thing! It might have to be the weekend, because I have convention flu after dealing with 1200 people in close proximity to my lunch over the bank holiday.
Cool, just PM me when you're ready and I'll give you the address.
Just send it over when you have time, I'll be in town on Saturday (ironically right near WHW) and I'll hopefully get them out.
For good measure, bin all the packaging, haha. Bugman himself is sealed, so you can lick him safely enough.
Might be interested.
Have unpainted Cryx McThralls
ALEPH Steel Phalanx
Most of,the Ice Storm Pan O
Some Necromunda Delaque minis
A LOT of 6mm EPIC I'm planning on turning into a Mini 40 K game set.
Sorry to just disappear on you guys, I am trying to get back into it... just started to read the forum backlog about 30 minutes ago, tomorrow I might actually be up to date
Hey BC, if you haven't shipped that dragon dog yet, and are near WHW, maybe we can make my wife SUPER ANGRY and get you to put some more plasticrack in that shipping box?
kb_lock wrote: Hey BC, if you haven't shipped that dragon dog yet, and are near WHW, maybe we can make my wife SUPER ANGRY and get you to put some more plasticrack in that shipping box?
I'm going there on Saturday! Let me know, I'll sort you out.
Both yours and Paradigms parcels are on my hall table, I've just not managed to make it to town yet (combined convention cold/flu and general ennui this week).

ohboyohboy, such temptation
Anyone know how much these command tanks are? I've a feeling it'd probably be worth waiting it out and getting it locally though, as it looks like the ~exclusive~ is only temporary
Interesting idea. I dont mind painting some eldars or infinity models. I'm planning to start those once i'm done with my current blood angels army so this might be a good chance to get a feel of painting those models. I dont play by the way so i'll just paint em and send em back. Have a look at some of my postings to see my painting level if you are interested. Cheers!
My name is true, I'm from Victoria. Australia. I've been wanting to break into the commission buisness for some time now and this seems like a chance too good to be true (pun intended). I am an avid painter 24 with plenty of time on his hands and not enough plastic crack to paint ! Painting is my life and you can rest assured that any models sent to me will be complete in short order and to you specifications I am mostly a space marine painter, but would be able to do most if not all factions of the imperium. So I invite you to jump over to my profile and check out my work don't hesitate to message me, or even just ask questions regardless. Cheers. True.
Hideously slow of me, but a Bugman went off to Paradigm today.
KB I still owe you a message and some pictures regarding WHW exclusives.I'll sort that tomorrow!
I'm going to get you an accurate postage estimate on Saturday, because standing in their store with a small set of battery scales and weighing a Rhino box is just what I'm about.
Im so glad this seems to be going well.
It seems like we are able to find each other and share this hobby here.
I will definately make use of this opportunity at some point, as i have some models i just cant seem to ever find time to paint, before i buy something im more excited about.
SirDonlad wrote: Hey, iv'e got a 'cheif librarian tigurius' that i got for nothing as part of a miniature swap (yes, it's resin) if someone fancies doing that?
I might be down for that. Take a look at my gallery and see if you want me to.
BC's Bugman is done (pics below) and going off on Monday, so if anyone else has anything they'd fancy me doing then let me know!
Spoiler:
@Swastakowey: those are some neat miniatures. Doubt I'd have time to do all of them to a good standard, but I'd happily do up the Command Squad (say, the Commander, 'vox-pidgeon', artillery mappers, bugler and banner?) if you don't mind the cost/time of shipping to and from the UK.
Got so tied up in new releases i lost this thread! now i've found it again, i'm going to be putting some more stuff up for others to paint and enjoy - it's been thougroughly enjoyable posting things to people who really want to use them like this - reminds me of the old 'pen-friends' concept which got forgotten when the internet and mobile phones appeared.
just waiting to hear whether AUGmaniac wants a go at any of them first because i felt so guilty about sending tigurius off to australia and not posting the fact here.
So, AUGmaniac is getting sent some (edit:Tarantula)-style turrets i made and i have three more things for people without models and/or funds to paint and borrow....
A NIB oldhammer 'carrion' which will otherwise remain in my bits-box forever. (no need to send this one back, just post some finished pics on dakka)
A LoTR bilbo baggins which really should be with the other 4 hobbits in my cabinet (painted by a friend)
And two space marines with plasma cannons which i would like in dark angel colours as a gift for a mate who's down on his luck to cheer hin up a bit.
So - something for free, something for me, and something for charity.
I'm so sorry! I kept meaning to send them to you, but because they have my address on, I didn't want to put them on the Dakka gallery, and needed to use Imgur... which doesn't work on my phone, and so basically forgot by the time I was home a week later.
I recon the carrion's yours Inspector264 - sounds like you'll appreciate it!
It looks to me like you and i have a very similar level of painting
Safe, send me an address via PM mr kb_lock!
Edit: holy , i think i wanna send bilbo to 'Januine'! absolutely no offense to Inspector264 but the first pic in januines profile was a chaos guy looking like a boss!
It's great to see more folks getting excited by this idea!
I've found a couple strange pieces that I can offer when I can walk again.
I know there's a Ushabti Jackal if someone feels like trying bone and golds. It's not valuable but it was a pain in the ass to find at the time. And what can only be described as "Commissar with electric turkey carver".
Ustrello wrote:Well I am no Januine, but I will offer up my services if anyone wants to take them up.
I am loving that skip in your gallery!
Skip? I am not that up to date on british slang after I quit EvE
The yellow thing with the old imperial propaganda poster on the side! I really like 'reality' touches like that - propaganda posters, graffiti, rubbish etc
Ahhh! 'dumpster' - i have a new word to call a skip when i can't call it a 'skip'!
So, carrion to inspector264, bilbo to januine, turrets to AUGmaniac and DAdev's to kb_lock - i wish i had the time (and skills tbh) to take part in this from the other direction!
Hah, even I'm excited to see Januine paint Bilbo! Assuming you're talking about the original sculpt, with the book and ring, then that's a real classic model, one of my all time favourites! (My own copy is AWOL somewhere in my hobby room, I really need to find/replace him at some point).
I'm still waiting on Swas's Squats, but it looks like this idea is starting to get some real traction now, so hopefully it'll still be going once I'm done with them and I can take something else on!
If I recall, this one is the only LotR Bilbo they did (although there are about eleventy billion Hobbit ones! ).
Not my pic, but it gives you an idea of how stunning the composition and sculpt is. You'll be amazed once you have it in hand at how closely it resembles Ian Holm:
Spoiler:
It's tiny, less than half the size of any 40k you're used to, but sublime.

Absolutly no offence taken, Januine's work is fantastic! Bilbo will end up looking amazing!

Am I misremembering that there's one with a book on the writing desk? What am I thinking of there?
It's made me wonder about something like a single trooper work-exchange for those of us with horde armies, where they can all end up looking identical. Though coordinating that is beyond my fuzzy brain power at the moment. If you swapped about with a couple of folk, you could end up with a few little diverse figures that still fit with a theme.
The Squats are on the way, but it'll be a couple of weeks before they arrive, so if anyone UK-based has something small you want done quick and can send out in the next couple of days I'm happy to take that on.
Let me know if you're interested, and I can try and fit you in! Like I say you'll have to quick, though; I have some minis of my own coming in towards the end of next week.
kb_lock wrote: Yep, all over it like a fat bird on cake. Time for a nid invasion on my desk!

I was tempted to write the real expression of "all over it like a fat sheila on a cupcake", but I was afraid our American brethren wouldn't have been able to appreciate it as much.
Alllllllrighty then, with the Carnifex and that dog wolf thing, and the stealth comp (I SWEAR TO GOD I'M GOING TO MAKE IT), I will probably stop picking up painting requests.
I am also interested in the idea of a Distributed Denial of Grey-plastic, and sending out one or two ork minis with the only stipulation being something like "green skin, this clan, filthy as hell"
In fact, bugger it, that is what I will do - Should I start a new thread or just pollute this one?

I'm excited to see this happen. Sadly the IG I use I'd only really be able to send to people I know aren't going to eat lose them, due to them being OOP. It's not the value so much as the buggerance of finding another.
The idea of having little camoflaged guard that match the places they've been sent to is very fun though. It's certainly given me an idea for doing your ork.

You just need to post saying if you'd like to paint, or if you have a figure you'd like someone to have a crack with that you're not in a rush to use. If you want to paint, just link up a couple of examples.
hungryp wrote: ButteryCommisar, I'd love to paint your Ushabti if you're still looking for someone to.
I'll give it a think - I've been tempted to have a go at learning NMM recently and work up to the Ushabti.
Also I have to sort a few poor fella's big box o stuff before I go shipping anything else out.
Hey all, this seems like a pretty cool idea so I'll step in for a go.
I've got a 99% assembled, half primed, half not GK army I've been trying to find the motivation (and time) to get painted and I just don't see it happening anytime soon.
If anyone is interested in giving them a crack, let me know. I've got the following:
11 Termies
1 Converted Libby (metal)
20 PAGKs 6 PAGKs (metal)
2 Rhinos
1 Stormraven
Yeah that gloss was surprisingly slipperly looking - the model is completely dry in those pics, I just did a gloss to survive the liquid mask - kinda thinking I won't tone it down now, that over a matte undercarriage should look pretty nasty.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Jesus Christ why is there so much dust on the model - literally can't see any of that in person - I SWEAR I'M NOT THAT FILTHY
Wow, how have not more people jumped on board on this?!? I have been doing Warhammer on and off since 2003 (mostly off sadly). I paint slow and I refuse to field any gray models of my own. As a result have not played very much.
I have a variety of Black Templar and Tau models that are feeling rather naked and neglected.
Is it considered "bad form" to ask for a certain color scheme, etc.? What are your thoughts on posting some images of some models you have completed yourself and asking people to "try" at least paint similarly? I don't want to be rude, especially considering people are volunteering their time for this, but at the same time, I don't really want a rainbow themed Black Templar army either.
Hawehu - love this idea, thanks for suggesting it!
Haha, yeah that makes sense. I will jump onboard then. I'll post a picture of one of my finished Tau and a Black Templar models and see what I have available for painting when I get home from work to see if anyone is interested.
I think it would be better to have a "sunshine battalion" in an imperial guard force because orks have no male or female
There was an ork 'cheerleader' model for blood bowl iirc but i think that was intended as a humourous hint at the ork's attitude to order in the game "they 'az wun, so we'z gotta 'ave wun!" so of course some boyz ended upo in cheerleader outfits...
The 'sunshine regiment' is now on my list of amazing themes for an IG army alongside the Tallarn 'taliban' army and the steel legion/DKoK/mordian 'nazi' force.
I feel i should back up 'buttery commissar' on the language thing - i don't like the idea that someone who is young/naive may see the derogetary side of the meaning and then go on from there believing that is an acceptable way of viewing other people - I personally subscribe to the 'gunnery seargent hartman' view on the worth of a human life...
I don't think it's a great example as the seargent's character clearly disparages homosexual people later on in that scene, but the concept of equal worthlessness is pretty compelling.
No worries, either of you. It's easy to forget that writing words is no replacement for speaking them.
For the record, kb and I just have an ongoing laugh about my inability to paint anything a sensible shade. Partly because I'm colourblind and partly because every time I go near something my weirdness leaks out and it ends up pretty... Pretty.
Even my foray into a stern and angry Mordian Iron Guard has gone terribly wrong this week because I gave them all pink and white trousers by accident. I'm not even surprised any more.
Just so I am clear, I'm not mad at all, just didn't want to be misconstrued over some pretty average jokes - they weren't really pertinent to the thread either, so I dropped them.
Also, looking these pictures I posted, man it looks terrible - there are a lot of mould lines that didn't show up in the black primer, I'll rip a few out when I am doing the touch ups - then it's onto the oil wash.
I really like dakkadakka.com and all the peeps on here - i very much doubt i'd have seen what i just have anywhere else. maximum respect, props and exalts all round!
I have an infestation of them, more than I could ever put squads together for (which is saying a lot, coming from me), so sending them off for an adventure could be pretty fun.
Only limitation is they need to have white featuring on their uniform somewhere. Hat, jacket, braiding, I don't mind.
Actually kb, I was gonna trust you with the pants-on-head insane lieutenant if you'd be interested. It's like a commissar but his sash is made from bullets that have no bearing on his weapon. Also his boots have ribbons on them.
Ustrello, fancy doing a sergeant? I realise they're not super thrillsy.
BC - Ustrello paints better than I do, but I do consider myself rather pants-on-head insane so I am flattered (and insanely angry) at your offer. So yeah, send him to me with the horde, or early, or not, whatever yo
Buttery, I would be honored if you or anyone else would let me paint a mini. I have to move in to my new house first though, catch up on project for a friend and paint a small detachment for Git and Solar. By then I should have some decent gallery pics.
I tend to paint the Sergeants in that pattern uniform in USMC dress blue colors though. And Ust, would you be against taking one of my FW or OOP marine and painting him in Dusk Raider colors for me next time you do a squad? I don't care how long it would take, as it'd just be a tactical Marine with an =I= symbol for my Sternguard. Let me know, I really like your HH stuff.
If anybody would be interested and wants to work on their airbrush skills I have 8 Drop pods that I want to get base colors on and yellow black safety makings on the fins. If you are up to the task then let me know.
Okay that's a crazy-eyes leitenant for kb, sergeant for Ustrello and one earmarked for Stormwall. I'll see how many of the beggars I end up with spare. I can't pull a kb and set up a Dakka-painted regiment, but as each of my squads has a white + single colour theme, I would then match the 9 infantry to the strongest colour in the Sergeants you guys do.
Stormwall wrote: I tend to paint the Sergeants in that pattern uniform in USMC dress blue colors though.
No worries, just give him white roping or a white section to his hat. Or if I give you one with a chainsword, maybe that could have white striping? S'all good.
It's funny you mention the USMC uniform. I actually have a heavily modified one hanging in my front room that I adapted into a Mordian jacket. I got some serious abusive gak from several different people for doing so, for two different reasons, so it's sort of broken my heart a little bit. I don't know what to do with the blasted thing now.
I'm a sub-par painter myself, but I do some interesting conversion work when the fancy/scotch strikes me.
I have numerous Tau, Ork, and IG models that have been resigned to being grey through lack of painting time. I also have some DA/SM.
The Tau and IG have a pretty specific themes I'm working with on each of them, but if someone wants work on them, that'd be awesome. There are a few XV8s, plenty of Firewarriors, all the drones you could ever want to paint, and a few metal Pathfhinders. The IG have a squad of converted Ratlings that are begging for a much better painter than I and won't really need to be painted like the rest of my army, being filthy abhuman critters. Plenty of Guardsmen, but they are currently headless. Also they will need glowing neck holes for when I put skulls in them.
There is also a Sentinel being overrun by Kroot that I will never be able to paint to do it justice, so I am not concerned about specific painting scheme (doesn't need to match my army). If someone is interested I can put "Epic Sentinel" to the front of my converting queue. It mostly just needs touch filing/sanding, a little bit of green stuff, and basing. Though the basing could easily be done after painting. If that sounds interesting let me know.
The Orks are fair game. Want to paint a squad of Kanz, or a dozen boys or so? Maybe a trukk? Let me know. I would actually like if if they were a mix-match of themes, because you know, theys orks. Also, you know, I will never be able to paint all of these orks. Seriously, the Evil IG and Tau are already to much of a project.
The DA/SM models will eventually be used for a Fallen chapter of DA. I've got a pretty good handle on how I'm going to do most of them, black with a red nose stripe and other accents. BUT I will be doing some conversion work for a few of the higher ups, will post more when they are in the pipe. HOPEFULLY they will be perfect for some expert painter wanting to show off their chops.
Epic Sentinel seems to have been damaged in storage. Here are the Ratlings though. Sorry about the terrible pictures.

Yep that's right, guess I should have posted that I had received it in here too. It is next up in the painting pile, just making progress on this months Challenge entry before I jump on it.

I'll take the challenge if you want. Hazard stripes are one of my specialities. Lol.

Finally back from hols and I have a lovely little metal Bilbo waiting for me. Superb wee figure and when I saw 'wee' by feth I mean it. He's tiny!!! Will get onto him as soon as I can, may be a few weeks though as just back.
Looking forward to being able to take part in painting after the 6th, if anyone would have me.
I'll get my act together and packet up my Mordies this week. I'm way overdue getting a tank out to a Dakka member as well, due to being poorly.
Would anyone like to have a go at the original Yarrick? I think he is an astoundingly detailed, funny model (and plays like a beast), but I somehow ended up with three. One will be going into a charity project army, so you can either have a go at that scheme or your own. But I absolutely need him back by December if you wish to help with the charity.
Edit: what a terrible photo. I'll try and up a clear one. His scarf is amazing.

Safe, send me an address via PM mr kb_lock!
Edit: holy , i think i wanna send bilbo to 'Januine'! absolutely no offense to Inspector264 but the first pic in januines profile was a chaos guy looking like a boss!
So yeah, PM me an address!
Bilbo arrived SirD and will be getting painted up soon
I've been wondering what i could put back into this thread/concept but my lack of painting skill make me shy away from offering to paint but i do love a good convesion or vehicle build - maybe i could make custom bits for peoples models here?
My only misgiving is that i love building the models and i assume we all do, so i feel like it's a dishonest gesture because - who in their right mind would want the build done for them?!? ...right?
Thats a pretty good idea - i build loads of terrain but can never be arsed to paint it.
gimmie a minuite - ill put up a pic of the buildings i'm constructing but balk at the thought of painting.
edit:
Spoiler:
left to right; generic building (one front entrance), imperial knight workshop (with sliding doors) and a ruined hab-block with the third floor as an enterable building.
SirDonlad wrote: My only misgiving is that i love building the models and i assume we all do
You'd be wrong about that, some people absolutely hate it and commission people to build for them. Baffling to me as well.
Also, don't feel like you owe anything, you've contributed models - if we didn't want to paint them we wouldn't have offered. The whole point of this was to bring people with paint and no models together with people who've models and no paint. You've contributed in my opinion.
I mean, my ork project could be seen as a free commission that I've extorted from the community, the differentiator is the intent. I was never going to paint them, don't play the game (though I'll almost be obligated after this i guess) and i thought it'd be a cool little project. I will obviously end up "richer" at the end of the project, but in some way I hope that anyone who contributed to it will also feel pride and ownership of their part.
The fact that you paint at about 100x my speed while doing about 100x my quality makes me really dislike you - couple this with the fact that you are genuinely a nice guy, and I really dislike myself for how much I dislike you.
SirDonlad wrote: My only misgiving is that i love building the models and i assume we all do

I tink the problem is that things I don't wan to build are not things I want to post around the world. I don't want to build my HBD or 40K scenery, but mailing that safely and trusting it to the postal service, or other people would be a bit more than I'm up for.
As you know, I'm pretty overly optimistic, but I've got limits.
BTW you should now reply to me with "You should be painting." whenever I'm fething about on Dakka. I'm so bad at deadlines.
kb_lock wrote: The fact that you paint at about 100x my speed while doing about 100x my quality makes me really dislike you - couple this with the fact that you are genuinely a nice guy, and I really dislike myself for how much I dislike you.
So no, that doesn't count
Soon as he arrives KB - paint shall be laid down. Really hoping he does today
Anybody here good at painting wood effects and up for a small-scale challenge??
It's a chaos familiar from WH fantasy of old - looks like an artists mannequin but lugging a club over it's shoulder.
It's going to be my figurine for an upcoming D&D session which i play a mute, faceless little mannequin that has to write what it want's to say on a peice of slate with chalk and draws facial expressions on it's blank face when it want's to look like it's showing an expression.
I'm planning on having a picture of the mannequin with a white speech bubble next to it on a laminated sheet of A4 to communicate with the other players during the sessions.
It's apathy. He's coated in apathy. Good luck getting that off.
Also what I can only assume is epoxy resin because I already bathed him in estasol in 2008. Possibly I gave up on that after stripping the very odd paint. He's had a rough life, Trevor. Started off with a kid who doused him in radiator primer.
Well he's headed for brake fluid if this doesn't work. I've got my plan of attack for him now too, so it should be pretty easy. Ignoring the fact that i need to reattach his bum somehow
He really is a mixture of turkey drumstick and angry mythical creature.
For the record, I don't dislike him, but the reaction in the house when I dug him out was "Oh jesus, that thing again?"
He was too big for me to take on when I bought him, and has moved home with me four times, I'm mostly astounded I kept every since piece.
I apologise for every thing about putting that back together.
I owe you a stack of favours, removing the guilt of trevor is the least i can do.
I'm going to drill cut clean and pin the wings, then paint them separately. I'll assemble the whole dog then green stuff all the fur joins, then basecoat and paint the fur.
I should then be able to decide to join the wings and gs them into place, or leave them off for you to do. Pretty sure I'll do it then just pack it like mad.
Don't worry about it. I wouldn't volunteer if I didn't want to.
Besides, I'll just ask you to do a marine or something for the Thing in 2016.
Hey, if that wing survived its original trip over, I'm sure the joins are deep enough to hold the trip back.
I literally couldn't get it apart before I sent it. So awkward! [Embarrassed]
Carnifex is gloss coated and will sit for a while before getting oil washed blue and black.
Donlads devs have had their knees painted and glossed before getting a pattern of some kind put on.
Trevor has had his bath in iso and joints cleaned a bit. The tail has been reassembled, requiring 3 different glues. The wings appear to have been attached not with apathy as suggested, but with pure, unadulterated hatred for everything. He's probably going to eat acetone before i try pinning the wings.
Yeah for my first crack at tyranids i am pretty happy, i don't know why people paint the top vents the same colour as the carapace, aside from it being easier...
And yeah, that shot is misleading, trevor is bigger than the carnifex with ease once his wings are on. The tail was such a pig to glue, there is no way to brace it. I added a pin, but then used super strength epoxy without planning the hold, so i added super glue. Just refused to cooperate. I dreamed of throwing it clear back to England, or replacing it with a resin one from ebay. Instead i went to a 90second araldite. That got it.
Automatically Appended Next Post:
Update; 90 second araldite failed add well. I think i caught it though - added a gob of super glue and jammed it together - instant bond. I hope that the araldite is now effectively an epoxy shim.
Sounds fun and good luck to all of you, while Im no where near a great painter I enjoy painting very much so, unfortunately I found this thread a day to late as Ive just agreed on a trade with another dakka member and am buying some stuff on eBay.
I ran out of things to paint a few days ago and now Ive overcompensated.
Now that I've got the AdMech stuff finished for paradigms monthly comp - finally made a start on your Bilbo fig this evening Sir D. Will post a quick WiP in the morning
Finally getting some paint down on wee Bilbo. Thinnest layers I've ever done!! So scared of losing any of the really fine detail which is begining to come out. It really is a gorgeous sculpt. First metal fig I've painted in ......must be about 11 years I think
There is no doubt in my mind that Bilbo is going to look outstanding in the end, Januine!
I must admit that I have been neglecting this thread, and must also apologise to SirDonlad for not posting progress pictures sooner of the Carrion that he so kindly sent me.
I am working on it as a side project, so that when I get fed up with painting other things, I have a bit of variety.
I would say I am about halfway done painting, having finally settled on the colours I want to use, and with a bit of a plan of attack now in place I should hopefully finishe it up soon(ish).
Many thanks again to SirD for giving me the chance to piant this fellow up.
Bilbo is looking sweet already, i love the soft tonal differences on his waistcoat and troos'! (i think you picked the perfect colour for the waistcoat)
Glad you're enjoying the carrion Inspector #264! i Totally didn't have the patience, or the drive to get paint on him (plus the shape was a bit confusing to my eye) much clearer now you've picked out all the 'flesh' and 'bone' bits!

Absolutely, it is a terrific sculpt!
Definitely understand where you are coming from regarding how confusing it is, even though I think I have separated the different 'parts', I am still finding bits I have missed!
Thanks guys! I've never done a nid before either, but I'm pretty happy with her - hopefully she survives the postal system.
No idea how the gallery and voting works, but doesn't matter - my 3 year old said it was a spooky cockroach, which is a 10/10 for me

Because it was assembled, I couldn't really do all the joint repair and mold line cleaning and such - so I just did the best I could. I honestly cringe when I look at it from some angles and see all the gaps, I just can't stand it :/
Might paint some more for this dude, he seemed happy and that is enough I guess. I am also kinda pumped for these devastators

It's the wife army and she loves the paint job. First thing she said was how are you going to paint the rest that good lol Cheers again mate
Here we go - the finished Bilbo Had a lot of fun doing this wee guy. Apologies for the crap photos - rush rush rish this morning. SirDonald can you pm me name/address and I'll get young Bilbo here into the post to you
I have one Ork Looted Wagon that I would like painted. Any specific Ork color scheme I would be fine with to be honest. If someone is out there and just wanted to have fun with a Ork Looted Wagon (but still keep it nice of course) I would be happy to assist them in their mek boy fantasies.
Pictures of it in the link and the standard I would like it to held around. I felt bad for the tank being the ugly duckling of the group. http://imgur.com/a/70ivs

SirDonlad wrote: And two space marines with plasma cannons which i would like in dark angel colours as a gift for a mate who's down on his luck to cheer hin up a bit.
Wow that was almost two months ago(!)
ANYWAY, I am not doing this in full force - I've got this week free for stuff at night, and those devs are in line (closely followed by trevor).
I haven't got any pictures, because I want to save it for a surprise somewhat, but here is where we are at.
All pieces have been cleaned and organised / pinned, ready for basecoat (which will be tonight, I hope). I had a hell of a time drilling out the barrel on the metal plasma cannon, but I got there - I bought some new drills, which I will be promptly sticking up trev's date to solve his pinning problems, now that the devs are done.
I have also come up with a really nifty basing solution, which I think is pretty cool - that is surprise number 1 being saved. I'll photo shoot it, but you'll be the first one to see it when it arrives, then I'll post it.
Additionally, I had some parts arrive I was waiting on, specifically a DA upgrade sprue so I can give them shoulderpads and not subject you to my freehand.
Surprise 2 was in these parts as well, it is a magnetised custom option (magnetising it was painful, but it works) - should tie it in with the base nicely.
Sorry it is taking so long, I haven't read back through the thread to see if I actually fully prepared you for how slow I am, but you're mate should like it when I'm done.
Not so much that, more the fact that I have injected so much anger and hatred and pure unbridled rage into this tiny piece of pewter, that I am very afraid of the destructive capabilities someone else would wield or be subjected to.
Beyond that, I am not sure I want to part with that weapon, should I ever need it again.
Also, I am pretty sure these devastators will be the best thing I have produced in the hobby so far, which isn't really saying a lot, but is exciting for me
Oh you did, don't worry, I don't blame you for this, I completely accept what I have signed up for. More importantly though, this isn't about you, it is purely between me and Trevor. It has transcended reality now, and is becoming a metaphor for the eternal battle of good over evil (fun fact, I don't drink or do drugs any more).
And don't worry, he will definitely come back - with a caveat - I do not take any responsibility for the destruction he brings with it. He is both a curse and gift, for me as much as you.
BACK TOIT THOUGH, I bought a base for him as well, and have a plan that should look pretty nice - you happy with lava?
So, the 13mm of 2.5mm solid brass pipe, reinforced with greenstuff presses and some super glue that hurts my eyes when i open the tube have joined this tail together. The join was horribly off center, but that's just how it is now. The joint was horribly cast anyway, and meant that it was obviously visible, so i was going to need to reshape it. So, this is the joint solidly connected (not testing it, 2spooky4me), it looks pretty good to me, and i only need to dig a few more scales out to finish it.
I also started on the base, I'm going lava. This is layer 1, it is 6mm cork, I'll probably go another 6 or 9mm higher yet.
Also undercoated all donlads stuff, will base coat on Tuesday hopefully. I have an heroic basing idea, but it's a surprise!

Huge shout out to kb_lock for taking some more big bugs off my hands to paint. The man is a legend they have been sitting around untouched for far too long.
Honestly, it makes me feel bad for saying it, but it gives me practice for my future nid army. Besides, you and your missus were pretty happy which gave me the warm fuzzies, and painting for someone else was motivating.
I also base coated (and shaded and highlighted) donlads devs. That was the hard bit, rest should be easy.
I think my airbrush is sick though, it's being a real jerk
I just received Bilbo Baggins today in what i could almost class as 'armoured packaging'!
Seriously, museum artefacts would be jealous of how bilbo rode out the journey!
Thanks man!!
Photo's incoming....
"Where's bilbo?!?"
There he is!
Tricksy hobbitses!
I couldn't get my camera to focu on it, but Januine has picked out the ring in his hand - i've never seen such fine metallics!
If someone fancies having something painted by me, this is your sole chance before I shut up shop at the end of 2015 and focus on a substantial charity project for all of 2016.
I don't do squads, large robots (60mm base), or vehicles. My style is quite bright and is perhaps not suited for things like sneaky mucky cultists.
If you have a set idea, then I'll try to follow it.
Donlad's devs are almost done, the basing problem has now been fixed and things are going pretty well.
Not doing progress pics and am semi tempted to not post pics until he gets them back anyway for MAXIMUM EFFECT!
I've also made some good progress on trevor, basing is going well and his tail has been reshaped. Going for another join soon (tm), then I'm literally ready to paint.
I feel pretty bad that I've taken so long, but I'm forgoing any of my own modeling time for this so hopefully that makes up for it somewhat.
I've also got 2 more bugs from MSRC which are my train buddies while they get their mold lines cleaned.
Anyone take up your offer bc? I've got an ork you can paint
Automatically Appended Next Post: Oh boy, this forum really knows how to work with mobiles.
It's like I'm back in 2001 again, pm me your icq numbers
The devs are almost done, their shoulder pads are drying - there was an unfortunate highlighting incident and i forgot my green recipe.
There is some minor touch up work, then I'm testing a new gloss sealer, then gloss / transfers / oil wash.
I also have some transfers coming for the bases (names), and a replacement hose pipe maker for the dude on the right (i made custom hoses).
I feel bad at how long I'm taking Donlad, but I've put my heart into these little buggers and i hope it shows. You'll have them by Christmas is my hope.
Same with trev, I've primed his bum to make sure i don't have to reshape it, i also have some stencils coming for his base and wings.
This thread/idea needs to be kept going. Twas and is a great thing. So I'm throwing my proverbial brush(?) back in the ring. Anyone want a Januine paintjob on one of their figs? (keep it real folks - can't really paint up a newly bought Ghostkeel et al )
About the only person I can't ever be mad at if you get a reply and I don't on the offer. Good on you Januine!
That said, if you ever fancy doing a commissar, or a frighteningly female one, (or a complete random tiny mystery from the depths which I found Trevor) I can throw one in with the Tanith. I don't wanna hog your time though.
(I have larks, milo and my trooper packaged up, I've just had a run in with the DWP that leaves me somewhat strapped on bus fare. And food. And christmass cheer... When that's sorted, they'll set off. Couple of days hopefully)
I have always wanted to paint some Bretonians, just never had the funds to spare on them (single Dad of 2 making barely above minimum wage and getting no child support) as I know I would never really play them (as I am mainly a 40K player and Anima Tactics).
My painting levels are good, not great. And not sure how fast I can paint (But can squeeze in time on weekends and while at work), but would be willing to.
female commisar eh......I'm intrigued.....and slightly....nvm....pop her in. I do warn you though BC....while I'll do my absolute 150% on them, I won't be quick. Hope that's ok!
Not a worry on speed, at all. I can't send you my official GW one as I need her on the 5th Dec, but I have one that's not the most raunchy sculpt, but very different. It's funny, she fits the topic well; designed by a mate who died and I've never had any idea what to do with her.
I'll jump in on this. I enjoyed painting the Deffkopta for Kb, and I normally look to do some kind of miniature secret santa this time of year, so this can replace it.
You can find a number of photos of my work in my post history. I'm happy to paint pretty much anything, but be warned I may turn down large objects because they will just take me too long.
I'm thinking about doing a Spring P&M "late Santa", on that note.
It'd have to be 18+ because I'm not handing out children's addresses, so I'm not sure how that would affect things.
I bow to your magnetting experience. I always feth them up.
If/when it drops off the front, I'll (or you can) see about making a thread with an updated OP.
A list of lookers/lenders and spoilered pics of completed/sent would be cool as.
I'm currently waiting to hear back from a fellow poster on here regarding painting up some specific bits and sending them to them to use for a librarian conversion/kitbash they are in the process of planning.
While not in the exact same vein as this thread, I did draw inspiration for the idea from here.
Currently only looking to sub-assemble and paint up a right arm force weapon (Halberd/Spear, which will count-as an axe for the purposes of WYSIWYG), as well as the front half of a suitably decorative torso (The back half being a power armored grey knight torso the recipient would be using), a backpack, and possibly a helmet too.
It wouldn't take me a terribly long time to paint these bits up, and would be a nice gesture toward a poster who has offered some great feedback and input for my projects over the last few months. I see it as being a nice way to say thanks, and hopefully give them something useful that they can use in their modeling and painting as they build their army up.
Hopefully I can use this as a method of not only branching out and painting things I wouldn't normally paint, but also allow me to start using some bits I would otherwise never use and put them to good use as well, while at the same time helping out a fellow deserving 40k player with some cool bits they can use on a project that are already painted and ready for assembly.
Just a thought on that end. Hopefully this thread keeps going for a good long while yet.
this idea was and is a fine one and am reluctant to lt it fade into the warp. C'mon folks - who can spare a bit of their painting time for another hobbier, who's got a fig that they've never gotten around too or wish it could get some top paint on it? My paint shelf is as full as it ever is but I'll always make room for this thread! You pay the postage here, I'll paint it and pay the psot back. If you need to see my style/quality - click on the links in my profile. Let's keep this great community idea going

You know what? It's Christmas, and I haven't had any commission work in a while, so I'll throw my hat back in the ring here! So if anyone is after what essentially amounts to a 'freebie' commission then now's your chance! Given my somewhat limited time at the moment I'll only take on one job (first come, first served) for the moment. I'd ask that you pay the postage, but if you've got a mini or two that you'd like me to tackle then let me know and we'll see what we can do!
I have no real preference at the moment; I'm currently working on assorted Horus Heresy and Batman bits and soon X-wing myself, but so long as I feel I can do a good job on your mini, I don't mind what game/genre/style it is. I wouldn't mind a crack at some of the characters from the Age of Sigmar set, and it's been far too long since I tackled any Infinity or Malifaux, so I'd definitely be happy to work on any of that stuff!
Also, anyone not taking up Januine's offer who is in a position to do so needs their head looked at! Work of that quality would cost an arm, a leg and possibly a kidney from other places!
nice try Storm!!! A full on knight (considering how long my own knight is taking!!) might be a bit outside the margins!!! usual figs and up to a dread in size - I'm game.
c'mon folks - you've got two fo the boys game on me n para - who else'll step up. lets spread the paint (feth that's an awful pun)
I also offered but I can understand the reticence considering my paint schemes are not exactly grim dark.
I wonder if folk are just busy in December.
Speaking of which, I'm gonna try and get your stuff out tomorrow, Jan. There's one figure to follow as he's at my parent's house, and I've not been home yet.
Remember all but the frumpyssar and trooper are just for you to have as a Tanith fan, haha. Not trying to cause a heart attack.
While slightly off topic, this seems a reasonable place to ask:
How much does it cost to ship a mini or two? My experience with shipping is just sticking a stamp on an envelope. Once I go past a piece of paper or two I haven’t the foggiest idea what’s involved. Not just in postage, but boxes, packing materials, custom fees, taxes, etc. I suspect "where to" is a huge factor. Within the US, or across either the Atlantic or Pacific oceans.
It might just be my tight-fisted nature, but I just assume that anything going into the mail across the pond is going to be prohibitively expensive. Would love to be wrong.
Assuming you're not selling, just sending/trading/receiving minis, customs and taxes shouldn't come into it. When I've sent a couple of commission pieces to the USA it's cost me about £4.50 for the postage and another £1 or so for a sturdy box and some bubble wrap and packing chips. So really not massively expensive, to be honest, and those were 6-7 minis in reasonably large boxes.
Now I think about it, it might be worth starting up a new thread for this. Just as this one is quite long and has been on and off, a new thread with the offers in the OP might get some more interest.
Curse you Para. I was wanting to ask you to paint the word bearer being crushed under my dread but now they are one piece.
I wonder if my tank crewman made it to Ustrello.
I could of sworn I messaged you man my bad. Yeah it got here and it's primed sitting on my painting station. I am just waiting for finals to be over to finish it.
Ust, it's fine. Take your time. I was just making sure he didn't enter the Abyssal crusade known as the post office. I was serious by the way if anyone wants to paint up some Vorpal sword assault marine allies for my Sons of Orar.
If you guys want we could make a new thread for this.
I'm game to participate, though I wouldn't consider myself top notch, feel free to check out my gallery for examples. More than happy to help out fellow Dakkites. Dakkacians. Whatever.

Spoiler:
As long as you have no problems with it taking me a literal year to get back to you, sure.
Finish your dinner before you start on candy.
Stormwall, how many?
And I'll throw up a new thread with a lot of offers, completions and such if/when this drop off P1
If someone like KB wants to snag post two, then if/when I get banned for gaking rainbows all over the place, you have a a back up.
I have, gnawing at my conscience and desk, two devastators for Donlad, which are finished now, and are awaiting some custom decals to arrive then they can go back.
I also have Trev, and my own trev, who is shockingly in worse condition...
Finally, I have a Flyrant and an Exocrine for MSRC.
So yes, you were right, I also have about 8,000 points of my own stuff that I want to paint...
methebest wrote:If someone doesn't mind doing tartan i do have a 2nd irregular cameronian that is kinda centerpeicey so would be worth getting a nice paintjob on.
Actualy if someone(or 2 someones) wanted to paint a nomad gecko, they are on my to get list and also would be nice to have a nice paintjob on.
That than that the only thing that i don't need on my atm nor doesn't need modeling/striping work is a bunch of direwolves.
I'm happy to take on either of those. I have the Nomad half of Icestorm in my gallery if you want an idea of how the Gecko would come out. Only thing is, shipping to and from NZ is going to take quite a while and cost a fair bit, so if you want to go for someone closer to home then that's absolutely cool (and I'd probably recommend it to be honest if you want the minis back anywhere within about 2-3 months. Shipping each way is going to be 3-4 weeks, painting will be about a week, or 2 if I'm doing either/both Geckos)l
So it's up to you. I'll take the job if you can't find anyone closer, or if for some reason you'd really like my paintwork in particular.
Oh how I wish I was too. NZ is pretty damn high on my list of places to visit, and not just for the LotR connection (although that is a big part of it). It's like a version of Australia where everything that moves and half of what does't isn't trying to kill you...

I'd be cool with you painting something, do you have a preference? if not might wait a bit and see if someone else wants to paint something and go from there.
And wait times wont matter as i barely have any nomads and i'm focusing on my jsa and caledonians first.
Though now that i think about it i do have a chimera on the way, so i can offer up that as an option as well.

Spoiler:
That Chimera is a lovely looking fig. I'm up for painting her if you fancy it. I'm in South Korea which has a pretty impressive postal service so mailing times aren't too bad to NZ.
I have an old metal Sammeal that needs painting. I feel I did pretty well assembling. He's based with Army Painter black and only has some white and gunmetal base so far. Cape is detached (but available) because I didn't dig that look. Could look incredible in just a few hours. I'd be happy to pay shipping both ways and I'll include some other gift.
Also pewter Coteaz and Ezekiel if anyone's into them.
Yeah, though i probably could have gotten her in a envelope, which would have been a damn sight cheaper, but she may not have survived, but at least this way you get the box as reference as there are no instructions.(Definitely the biggest problem with infinity stuff.)
They are ostensibly 28mm (a lot of the newer stuff is edging towards 32 or even 35mm, though), but they are what's known as 'true scale', so closer to actual proportions that something like 40k. It's a blessing, as they can look really sleek and natural, but also a curse just because they're so damn fiddly (have fun if the Chimera has any separate arms with tiny attachment points!)
@methebest: Apologies for the lack of progress, I've gone straight from Christmas family stuff into exam prep, and not had a great deal of time to paint. I aim to start painting this weekend, though, and hopefully have them finished within a week or so of that.

Aye the chimera comes in bits. Too small to pin I think. Lotta flash too. She's lovely but size wise reminiscent of that hobbit I painted for Sir D a while back
Trev is assembled minus wings, which are pinned. Greenstuffed to an insane degree, and primed. The end part of his tail has manage to gain some play, but I'll deal with that when i need to. I've also started working more on the base, no idea how that will work yet.
One of Donlad's devs had an unfortunate scratch on his forehead where i had dropped the head and stepped on it. As I'd airbrushed it, there was no touch up, so i wanted to do some battle damage. I'm not sure i like it, but it does look good. Now i need one more gloss coat, then an oil wash, then final weathering, then final protection coats. I'm also (desperately) waiting for my fallout hobbies ks stuff to arrive, as i have decals specifically for the devs (and stencils for trev and the flyrant).
The flyrant (this fething thing) now has replacement feet, tail sponges, wings carved and arms pinned. Has also been primed. The haruspex/exocrine was fully magnetized and primed the other day.
I've managed to structure my life in such a way this month that there is nothing for me to do but these jobs, and I'm loving it so far. Hopefully i can make up for how long it has taken!
Good stuff! I'd forgotten how big Trev was, perhaps it's like those chemicals women release after childbirth that make them forget how painful it all is.

BC did you still want me to paint one of your Sgts? If so just throw him in the box with corax!

I can already tell that he won't survive shipping - the wings will be fine, but he will need a good deal of bum support. Still, it wouldn't be Trev if he showed up in your hands and still wasn't a pain in the arse, right?
