Neat. A second starter box was desperately needed for Riot Quest.

I'm not sure if Kickstarter is the best approach for it. Has anyone else done PP kickstarters before? Do they do a lot of KS exclusives? I hate those.

My theory is they're doing kickstarter due to the lost cash influx from two major
convention cancellations, their own just this month, and Gencon in august.

I can't think if they did exclusives for warcaster.

They did exclusives for one of their boardgames, Widower's Woods, but haven't for anything else I've seen. Even the art book "exclusive" mini was just early access to a general retail release.

I might back it. I ordered Riot Quest earlier in the week. See if I can get a chance to play it.

I haven't played Riot Quest yet, but I kind of like the idea of themed seasons. Taking place up north hopefully means we'll see some cool Khador and Legion models (one of the silhouettes seems to have a Juggernaut axe and one looks like it could be Vayl). Though I don't know that I'll ever get used to the "Saturday morning cartoon" art style for existing characters (like Feora).

Hey, me too! My starter should arrive on Saturday. I actually ordered it a month ago, but my order slipped between the couch cushions at PP's warehouse.

Magnus was inspired by Ash from Army of Darkness so it's really freaking cool to have an alt reflecting that.

Just a heads up on PP Minicrate, once you sign up, it is tough to get out of your subscription. I've been trying (unsuccessfully) for the last three months to cancel my subscription.

I only ordered a single miniature (couldn't pass on their cool Conan), but they automatically renew your "subscription" even if you just select a month to month subscription. They say you can cancel anytime but despite cancelling all future payments and confirming that there were no future subscriptions or scheduled bills, I still got billed this month. I can't find a way to "unsubscribe" using their account portal, so I emailed customer service. My account showed no subscriptions and no future bills, but still got billed. Maybe I'll get lucky with customer service since I apparently inadvertently subscribed to the end of time.

Buyer beware. The whole thing left me with a sour taste in my mouth towards PP. Feels very deceptive and "Gotcha!".

Besides, they pooped the bed with an inexplicable Conan with M60 machine gun miniature scheduled soon. Why?

I've subbed and stopped a few times now with no issues. You even got me to go double check I wasn't accidentally paying for nothing still. That sucks you're having issues with it.

That said I'm absolutely not a fan of the crate system and would rather they do print on demand or something with these models. Something. There's plenty of work that's gone into them.

Since it's all computer sculpted offer up variants as a loophole to get reprints done or something. Do high end 3D prints. Something.

I'm bummed that I missed out on Alexia and the more recent 00 Di Bray, although since the VIP miniature continues to be the worst part of the whole mini-crate thing, I'm not sure I would have been in a position to get them anyway.

Oddly, the resale market for these continues to be non-existent in the UK. I cant tell if it is because there are very few subscribers in the UK, or if we are just being more frugal and pledgeing only for the miniatures we want.

This is what got me to finally try riotquest. Privateer willing to just do cool figures that they never could beofore as they'd be too out of place for the wargame. Minicrate has sculpts like that sometimes but Riotquest is just filled with them.

The maps are what convinced me, but Riot Quest does have some really cool models. I thought Chuck Dogwood's hand puppet was the best thing ever, then I discovered that he has an sequinned eagle on his cape...

I have the mat for the starter set map (Thunderhead Fortress), and I'm pretty happy with it (PP's online store has it for 25% off right now, with free domestic shipping at $50 - edit: Ah, you have a Canadian flag icon... shipping won't be free then). The printing is pretty good. Pretty sharp and bright colors. I think it is a big upgrade over the paper version. The other two maps (Hullgrinder and Temple of Concord) are only available as neoprene mats. I don't think paper versions exist.

It's pretty much "what if there was a 80's Saturday Morning Cartoon based on the Iron Kingdoms". It's ridiculous which is quite refreshing from all the normal serious stuff out there. Still not sure the name is the best but it does match the tone.

It's a heavy warjack's axe, the Destroyer, to be exact.

Boomhowler's new title is Boomhowler the Destroyer.

So he's picked up a heavy warjack's axe and it's so unwieldy it appears
he's holding on to the spike at the bottom to try and get some leverage
on the thing.

I don't know why it lists me as being in Canada. I'm in southern California. I guess the CA?

With the shipping costs and savings all wrapped up the mat seems like a good deal. Can't stand paper mats to play on. Would've preferred an actual fold up board but I can understand the paper one.

Since Riot Quest takes place in an alternate future after the Infernals won and has a decidedly different aesthetic, I would think more Warmachine players were against using RQ in WMH than for it. Like, you can't put RQ Feora next to WMH Feora...

To nitpick, its off a Destroyer (hence the name). It does kind of bother me that it took like... 15 years to get Boomhowler2 and now we're getting 3 within a year. Feels like there's other trolls that could have gone that way.

I do think Riot Quest and really the whole Infernal Apocalypse has been really good for the setting. Wild character designs have always been a huge appeal of the game, but it had gotten kind of stuck in its aesthetics. The end of the world has really given them a chance to make things crazy again.

Warcaster packaging and artwork featuring the new vehicles.

We received our shipment of our new Mini Box packaging last week and I just got some samples in hand. This was the first stretch goal of the Kickstarter campaign — a generic box that would replace the plastic blisters that our miniatures are normally packaged in, thus reducing literally thousands of one-use plastic clamshells per month. We'll be moving to this packaging style for our other product lines in the future with the ultimate goal of eliminating one-use plastic waste from our packaging, and making all packaging recyclable and biodegradable.

We're less than two weeks away from the annual Privateer Press keynote live stream scheduled for Tuesday, July 7th, at 10 am PST, on twitch.tv/privateerpress. We'll have a major announcement and previews for the future of Warcaster: Neo-Mechanika as part of the presentation, including more information on the Marcher Worlds Razorbat and the Iron Star Alliance Interceptor featured in the image below!

Summer Rampage 2020 rules are now available. This narrative event will shape events within the next round of Hengehold Scrolls.
We are going to be accepting event reports on this for a while (we'll let you know when time is running out), as we know that not everyone can participate at the moment.
Please play responsibly, and don't feel any rush for a deadline. We'll make sure this goes as long as it needs to so folks can enjoy it safely.

Apparently this is a report your games to affect the fluff kind
of deal. I'm guessing the intention shifted from Lock and Load
deciding things to this local event version. Not sure if we'll be
able to get this in, though some local players might try to play
it out on wartable.

I'm wondering if this is an example of versions of Riot Quest not translating into warmachine.

They've said that that might/would happen eventually.

I'd feel worse about it if the IKRPG hadn't been so horrid. What works in a wargame doesn't work for an RPG. Especially if you want to keep PCs alive through a single encounter without an absurd amount of min/maxing.

5e is a little boring, but at least it isn't a struggle to keep a party intact long enough to have a campaign.

Obviously people's views on rules are different, I liked them, but PC survivability wouldn't be something I'd ever expect to be an issue in that game as you get points to spend on healing all over the place.

General character creation spits out characters with DEF and ARM around 12. Maybe 14 if you push it. With extreme system mastery you can forgo lots of other necessary things to have one up at around 16 or 17. Enemy MAT, RAT and POW make those numbers trivially easy to beat, so PCs are constantly going down if you're anything by the book.

This is much like the wargame (unsurprising since its a minor adaption), but for an RPG, I find that non-tenable.
Like many of the WHFRPGs, I find the endless parade of incompetence uninteresting and terribly unfun.

That is the exact opposite of my experience and I ran it for years. As players kill things they get feat points to heal back up and do other things. But to each his own. My group breaks 5E easily too. They took out a CR 14 dragon at level 6 in one turn (party of 5).

The new Monpoc stuff looks great. Riot Quest is whatever but the sculpts are injecting some great variety into Warmachine. Still not sold on Warcaster, but the latest announcements look like they'll really help the game feel fleshed out and give the factions some identity to get people off the fence.

Maybe I'm just getting used to Riot Quest's aesthetic, but I really like most of the Winter Wonderland models. With the first season, I either loved or hated the models, with nothing in between. In s2, I like or love most of the models, and don't actively hate any of them. I still don't know that I'd feel comfortable using them in Warmachine because they are so theme-breaking - it's kind of like including the Wonder Twins in The Dark Knight Returns.

I wish I liked the Mon poc ruleset as much as I love the models and theme. From what I've read 1st edition seems to be the better game. In terms of depth of strategy and tactics, which is a must for me to invest in a wargame. Maybe I should homebrew a ruleset for it.

Warcaster is the opposite problem, I'm quite interested in its rules, looks like it has depth whilst being quite different from anything else on the market.... but the models/aesthetic is eh... I don't dislike it, but it doesn't really excite me all that much either. I think infinity has spoiled me when it comes to sci fi stuff.

Warmahordes stuff looks great as per usual, did think there might be some kind of Mk4 teaser for it announced in this keynote and maybe taking advantage of kickstarters advertising benefits and reach to launch it.

They did what I think they would do to Warmachine if they ever really wanted us
to play two warcasters- split the monsters' powers to encourage you to play
more double monster games. I think that that combination gives the game incredible
depth as you are list building around two monsters instead of one.

I'd really like them to do that with Warmachine someday. Cut down the power levels
to increase the playability of having multiple casters.

I have to edit a bunch of text and images later. Going to take a break.

I'm a huge fan of both editions, but would definitely consider 2nd to be the better game of the two. Honestly, I haven't heard anyone who prefers the original which just had really narrow roles for monsters and units, IMO. Not exactly sure what you're looking for though.

after watching that video, they have a lot of stuff coming that fills me with joy

rpg books- 5e isn't my favorite, but after running some games with their system, it will be fun to not wasting time introducing new characters after the previous ones got splattered over and over again

warcaster- i like the look of the new faction and the vehicles, just need to improve my setup for magnetizing things before i invest in the game

warmahordes- new trolls is fething awesome, its the faction that got me into hordes to begin with

riotquest- might finally take the plunge and give the game a try, though i'm undecided to joining the kickstarter as of yet

I think this second wave aesthetic is better, but I also think even the first year of Riot Quest stuff fits better into the game than I initially thought. I think the Warmachine aesthetic just got a little too self serious over the years and caused a lot of models to lose some of the fun charm that made the line alluring in the first place that we're seeing again here. The Warmachine line was built on exaggerated proportions and slightly cartoony, big personalities with silly details. The Riot Quest art is a little out of place, but honestly, the models themselves seem to fit in with Warmachine just fine.

There's clearly over the top silly stuff in Riot Quest but I agree with LunarSol. Many are much more in style with the 3.5 RPG/MK1 aesthetic then current stuff. I guess it just depends on which one you like better. I clearly like the earlier and Riot Quest stuff but maybe that's just because recent stuff have had less overall character too them that seeing something different is refreshing.

I've been arguing back and forth with Barzam about the Riot Quest designs.

Yeah, the art is cartoony, but the models really seem to have that charm that early WMH had as well. There's so many fun little details on them, especially if you're familiar with what a lot of those items actually belonged to.
The models don't look too out of place with other MMH figures either.

Sad there's no Skorne, but I'm enjoying the variety they've got on offer regardless!

There’s the Terrorizor, but in general most of them are Merc/Minions with some partisans in the mix. Skorne has really good access to minion solos as well.

I'm excited for the army, but it does really bother me that Gunny2 seems pretty dull compared to his simply outstanding predecessor AND we're getting 3 "Troll General" models this year that all feel like the same basic gimmick.

I don't know. I don't think you could comfortably put RQ Feora next to WMH Feora. Same with the Butcher. Sir Dreyfus doesn't really fit in with the other storm knights. The exaggerated proportions feel a bit out of place. But there are some that work, even while being a little bit goofy. Also, Chuck Dogwood is my spirit animal.

That and a huge fan of the Draken Armada and the weird angular 8th dimension guys. It's really hard to just buy a few monsters and just enjoy them... because they keep coming out with cool gak for MonPoc.

Not really seeing "the better game" from any of that discussion. Most of it is purchase decision stuff where they're complaining that the game doesn't reward buying as many duplicates as the rules allow, which.... I mean, its better that than the other way around.

The 2 agendas is a little odd. The 1.0 game didn't really have a meaningful restriction either; it was kind of one big agenda. Neither version makes the factions very distinct for me, but of the two I prefer 2.0 where its very easy to get a pretty minimal set of units and play a good variety of monsters. I also find the mix of units more interesting when there's a pair of monsters instead of just one and quite a few monsters do a good job supporting faction specific units to shake things up (which are those "Blue" abilities the OP says doesn't exist).

In terms of gameplay, I think the only real loss is the ability to pay for hyper early, but honestly, there were only a few monsters in 1.0 where that felt dynamic and interesting. Most of the time it was just something that made the game start off DBZ style with both players standing back until they could power up. The new game rewards a lot more engagement. Not paying for movement is a big part of that, as melee units actually function now, rather than being completely worthless.

Also, the poster complains that PP is going to nickle and dime players by selling them cards of alternate hyper forms... as opposed to winning Mega Zor-Maxim in a tournament and having one of the most OP pieces I've seen in any game full stop? I mean.... there's a lot of this kind of stuff in the post that seems to not be giving the new edition a fair shake or glossing over huge issues with the original like the Apes... which where in first

Overall, the editions really aren't that different. The core of them is the same, but I think 2.0 is overall an improvement. 1.0 rewarded a playstyle where you picked your opponent apart with ranged attacks and really only rewarded monsters who had double damage in some form. The new game rewards more aggressive play and makes the monster turn a really tactically interesting puzzle to get the most damage out of your team. There's a lot more design space for monsters who specialize in things other than attacking other monsters and both sides of the game feel like you're making tough decisions on your resources.

As a bit of a WM/H fanboy I though the keynote was very good. Lots of new models coming over the next year for WM/H and the other PP games like RQ, Warcaster, MonPoc, the return if Iron Kingdoms RPG. Show that the company has a roadmap and a plan for all of these games. It wont silence the doomsayer on that front but im happy with it.

What we didn’t hear about and what I I’m worried about is the HOW of the matter from PP. Their plans to reengage and rebuild their relationships with stores and suppliers outside of the US. The ongoing Quality Control issues with rising numbers of mispacks. And how they want to support community leaders and the re invigoration of the player base outside of the US as it is seriously struggling in Europe and places like Australia (as I understand it).

What I don’t what is for PP to have all these great products and nobody outside the US willing to stock/buy/play it.

My understanding is that the kickstater is being used as a pr-order service and as a way to get round the issues with distributors. All of the "kickstarters" have retail options so its not excluding stores.

HOWEVER, Im not sure that the message it getting through to many people outside of the immediate PP fanbase. An established company of 10-20 years experiences that suddenly "switches to kickstater" for its new games rings alarm bells with many people. PPs issues, as it often is, is communication

The problem with using Kickstarter as a preorder is why should any store carry it now? People already got their bundles off Kickstarter so any copies the store gets just sits there. And they’re going to Kickstarter with each new wave, so it’s not like it’s a startup thing and then moves to normal channels.

On the MonPoc releases, the Voyaka 099 looks VERY close to a battletech Hunchback. The lil four legged one looks like an urban mech (but has four legs, so fair enough), and I'm sure the other Voyaka 'monster' looks very much like another battlemech too, but can't seem to find it.

Because the KS is a one time (Two time if you include pledge manager) purchase period. There are loads of people who won't fit into the KS timescale for being a customer. Furthermore PP has specifically not deep discounted the KS prices to drive up sales in an artificial manner. So the stores aren't competing with a huge (if any) price difference from retail. This means the stores aren't having to compete with people used to a KS price for a model. That means they can sell to people who alreayd were part of the KS who want more and those who weren't part of it and missed out.

It will be interesting to see how they handle KS 2 - in theory they shouldn't be selling any KS1 (or only very limited) models and should be focusing only on the new stuff - leaving retailers to pick up the KS1 content through their own channels.

The advantage of a Kickstarter is that PP gets all that money up front, which they can use to offset the cost of production. If someone preorders through a FLGS, that generally translates into money much later in production (potentially after production - not sure how preorders translate into capital). With Kickstarter, they get their money before production really begins. A lot of miniature game production is front loaded. Having the money to do that at the beginning means less borrowing money against future sales.

PP is not excluding retail stores - the Riot Quest KS has retail options for retailers to get their copies at usual retail cost. It's just bypassing the distributor step. So it isn't pissing off the retailers, but the distributors - which, as long as KS remains viable, might not be an obstacle for success. Beyond that, these products will be available at retail later (I missed the Warcaster KS, but I'll be getting stuff retail) and they've stated that there will be additional models in this wave that are not going to be kickstarted.

FWIW, my store has started carrying the Steamforged Kickstarters and has been very happy with the results. I was really surprised, as they got burned HARD by the Guild Ball distribution failings, but they've been really happy with how it works as its let them get product at a competitive time with bonuses to help incentivize purchases. I think a lot of stores are fully aware that distribution is failing them just as much as the manufacturers and these short run Kickstarters seem to do a good job generating buzz that can be translated to consumers once the store figures out how to promote their involvement properly. I know RE2 didn't really do that well, but Godtear sold out within the first week.

I'm surprised how excited for all of this I am. Still not sold on Warcaster, but the new faction is a big draw. Mostly though the new MonPoc stuff is all really cool and the new Riot Quest offering has me sold on the game. A lot of it is just the sheer volume of new exciting sculpts for my favorite factions. I've gotten to where I'd rather paint a small number of really unique figures for skirmish games and getting that while also adding exciting new bits to my Warmachine armies has me pretty enthused all around.

I'm in a similar boat. I've always just watched the MonPoc segments and ignored the rest, but since GW deemed me unworthy of being a customer, Privateer Press has been the main beneficiary of my new budget surplus (largely because their webstore is running a 25% off sale). If the Riot Quest kickstarter had been even two or three weeks earlier, I wouldn't have been interested at all. Now I can't wait until December. Riot Quest turned out to be a lot of fun for me - it's not a super deep game, but it is very customizable and it creates a lot of fun moments.

October Solicitation

Monsterpocalypse – Komkor 001 – Zerkalo Bloc Monster (metal/resin)
PIP 51109 MSRP: $27.99
Standard strategy doctrines guide the sequence of steps in every Zerkalo Bloc invasion. The first wave is led by brute force mecha that carve out a “landing zone” in the new dimension. When a relatively safe area is established, the leaders of the expeditionary forces arrive. These forward command and control mecha are not only staffed by expert pilots who understand combat on a massive scale, but they also command staff to plan the specifics of the invasion from a forward position. For such a formidable war as the Monsterpocalypse, the high command decided that their most decorated machine and crew would return to active service to ensure a great victory.
TRADE POINTS: Komkor 001 is a support monster that can be added to any Destroyers force. The general who rides into battle protected by its thick armor is a military Mastermind and maintains a Focused Will, dedicated to victory at all costs. The vessel’s command staff designate resources and other points of interest around the city as assets that must be Safeguarded for further exploitation. When it goes hyper, the weapon crews manning the rocket batteries carried in the mecha’s shoulders trade out their precision munitions for high explosive ordinance, ensuring that no foe remains after a salvo.
Monsterpocalypse – Reclamation Facility – Building (metal/resin)
PIP 51110 MSRP: $19.99
One of the first structures built by any Zerkalo Bloc invasion force is a Reclamation Facility. These buildings serve as gathering points for the more unrefined resources that are produced by the fighting near their location. Not only do these buildings process the detritus left over when a city is leveled, but they are also capable of actively recycling military vehicles, whether they are surplus units no longer needed or enemy craft that stray too close.
TRADE POINTS: The Reclamation Facility is a new building that any player can add to their city. Zerkalo Bloc players can use it to more easily field their units. Any player that secures it gains extra Power Dice when destroying buildings and can recycle nearby units for even more power.October Solicitation

Earlier infinity had a lot more artistic freedom but since N3 they've lowered that for a very consistent, mass produced feel, on purpose. All the models are top notch sculpting wise but there's very little variation as CB wants things to feel like they're all manufactured for these massive militaries that wouldn't have much variation on gear (much like today). There are many people who prefer that route.

The downside, as you mentioned, is it's a game that really pulls you in at first with it's models but once you start looking around you realize that the "wow" factor dies really quick. I think it's part of the reason they focus so much on terrain as to give something else to stand out and allow players to have something distinct to bring to the table.

I don't think that's the case, at least not for any that I've painted. I'm not a damn good painter at all, but I do prefer to take my time on each unique model rather than assembly lining a dozen extremely similar ones. It's why I have the most models painted for Infinity, MonPoc, and Warmachine (I go jack heavy).

2) The models feel very "samey". I think its because they've a lot of characters that are basically the same "type" (warrior with gun" in different poses. It lacks the wider swings of creative freedom that ranges like 40K or Warmachine have. A few do catch my eye, but overall I just don't feel "wowed" as much.
I think there's really three different focuses for miniature war games (all games are tactical, and can draw from all three inspirations, but most games focus on one primarily):

1) Logistical - all about army building and order of operations. Success is about having the right tools for the job, and employing them at the most opportune moments. List building is about getting the most bang for your points resources, and popping off combos in something like Warmachine means setting up resources (having the right troops in the right place, making sure you have enough command points, getting the right cards and abilities prepped ahead of time - basically engine building, with the combo popping being the reward for a successful engine). Most wargames tend to heavily favor this.

2) Spatial - The relationships of models between each other in a three dimensional space, with success being able proper positioning, exploiting the natural geometry of the table, and even in manipulating your opponent into disadvantageous positions. Infinity and Monsterpocalypse are two that heavily focus on this. The individual components tend to be somewhat similar in purpose, where the differences are relatively minor (though still important). I mean, it matters which two monsters you play in MonPoc, but the majority of the game is built around actions that all monsters can equally take. Similarly, Infinity is a game where most of the models can do most of the actions, but is built around positioning to set up advantageous AROs.

3) Strategic - Basically, the individual battles don't matter as much, and it is instead how the battles are linked. It really mostly shows up when you have goals other than simply winning a single battle. You know, win the battle but lose the war. Most often manifests itself in campaign games, like Frostgrave or Necromunda, where you might find items and experience during a battle to be used to improve your team. It also shows up in campaign games where you slowly take over maps. Arguably, tournaments are strategic play, though I'd argue not by much.

Anyway, my point is, Infinity is 100% spatial, and probably the miniature game that most ably handles and encourages lots of 3D terrain, with multiple floors and walkways and rooms. The models are different, but usually which weapon they have (which affects spatially effective ranges) will make the biggest difference in how you use them. Being someone who is... um, I guess "spatially excitable" (catwalks are my catnip), an Infinity table does things for me that other miniature games do not. But I don't think Infinity would do much for people who prefer logistical campaigns, since Infinity is pretty bland in the army building and has few resources to minmax.

By comparison, it is looking like Warcaster will be primarily logistical in nature. Even though the games have somewhat similar aesthetics, I don't think they'll be competing for players at all. If anything, I think Warcaster has a larger potential audience than Infinity will ever have, and will probably prove more popular.

Interview with Matt https://www.loswarmachine.com/field-of-fire/2020/7/11/episode-16-post-keynote-with-matt-wilson

Around the 49 min mark he talks about KSer and a Q&A. Before that was his thoughts on the keynote.

Riot Quest Season 2 wasn't intended for a KSer but with no conventions and distributers closed down due to covid they had to readjust and move it there as KSers the best platform ATM for them to get new products in front of people.

He doesn't believe Warcaster would have done very well compared to what it sold on KSer with a traditional release due to the competition.

Doesn't make sense to move Warmahordes to KSer as it already has a fanbase and name recognition.

There may be new RPG figures in the RPG KSer but that hasn't been decided. They do have stuff sculpted for strange light and maybe those will see the light with that RPG's release.

After all the fees and extra work needed to run a campaign KSers are about the same as selling in retail. They tend to make less per model but they sell more.

Matt said they're trying to improve European Distribution. Bob Watts has been working with Distributers but the traditional system isn't working any more as there's so many companies competing for Distributer and store space it's near impossible to get old stock to be carried. While more games are being sold there are less people dedicated to a single line anymore. Distributors will mostly only buy what they have orders for instead of stocking large amounts at the same time publishers are producing less as Distributors wont store stock anymore unless it's really popular making it hard for stores to get products (some of the working he used makes me think he's talking about CMoN and ASFOI for part of this as an example). He talks about this for quite some time as an issue everyone having trying to adjust to the game boom that's going on and pretty interesting. Circling back to the European question he said they're building all new infrastructure for making it easier to deal with this new scenario outside of the US (wording makes it seam like producing things over seas) but COVID has thrown a real wrench into everything. They were at 10% work force for months and watched as international shipping orders wait for months before leaving the US after the courier/freight company received the item.

There will be more Twitter Micro-fiction as that was very well received. They still have to finish the story of oblivion once the summer rampage and the story will be finished on Twitter then then a 5 year jump starting with the RPG.

They've tried putting the whole story of Oblivion into one Omnibus but they haven't been satisfied with the results but they'd like too as there's lots of different sources and types (like scenarios)

Just caught up on all the new peaks, MonPoc stuff really takes it. I'm still holding out for more Savage Swarm, but the pulpy stuff like Evil Space Russians or '90s cartoon Mutated Good Guy Animal People are both calling my name - as are the Evangelion-esque sentient geometry (at least in concept, the art seemed more living crystal entities, sorta different).

Happy to see where WarCaster is headed. I think I'm still out - the mayhem of 40k 9E and solidity of KOW is at least currently more interesting than learning a new skirmish system with $$ models I own nothing for. And always happy to see the Warmachine gears still churning.

I really like MonPoc's breadth of factions now, but I wouldn't mind them returning to the old factions now and again. I sort of feel like a lot of the newer things move away from the traditional kaiju style - which I absolutely don't mind, but I'd like to see some more men in rubber suits, if that makes any sense. Maybe it is because I've been watching a lot of Ultraman recently (it's a good time to be an Ultraman fan in the US), but 50 ft vegan, the glob, russians, giant bees, mole men, evangelion angels, and the thudercats don't really scratch the same itch for me.

Again, I like and actively want these models. I just want to see some more of the original 6 factions, or maybe a new faction that's more styled in the 60s kaiju genre. Just sort of feels a little diluted.

They're talking about retooling the morphers as single form monsters in the next year; so we're likely to see the likes of Tyrranix and company soon. The original 6 had the problem of the duplicate sculpt for most factions, but 4 unique monsters is pretty doable for the original factions sooner or later.

The move to the 2v2 format really works for the genre for me. I'm less concerned about any of the factions and I just like pairing up fun combos. A martian saucer arrived and turned a beetle into a giant city wrecker and now Kondo has to trust the humans and their giant machines to help save the planet. I've gotten to where I'd rather have a collection of 1 monster from each faction than... well, a faction.

I figure by the time I get caught up on 9th, Warcaster might very well be mature enough to know what I want. It's too bad everything has to be an instant hit or dead these days. Minis are an industry where a game isn't likely to hit its stride until its been around for a few years.

Their resin is usually pretty good. I’ve had a few misaligned mold issues with my MonPoc however, and people really like to complain about the excess material at the injection points.

I think the quality is quite good for their resin. I was initially a skeptic, but MonPoc's resin models are extremely crisp and the detail is great. I was actually kind of blown away. But these are huge models that are very thick and sturdy. I recently got a Warmachine model (Sorscha3) which has a resin body, and the detail is still great (almost no clean up needed), but being thinner, the legs are a bit bendy (not brittle like finecast) - probably won't be a problem for her, but I've heard the cavalry models tend to wilt with the thin horse legs and metal models riding on the back. So, thick resin is strong, thin resin a bit bendy. Details are crisp.

I don't know what models will be resin for Warcaster, but so far, all the Riot Quest stuff has been metal (even the warjacks).

PPs resin is my favorite I’ve worked with. Fantastic detail, relatively small numbers of parts and they’re good about using metal for anything potentially small and brittle. If it wasn’t a little too expensive for 10 man units, I’d be happy if they used it for everything.

I was just thinking about how with season two of Riot Quest every faction will have representation in the game, along with nearly every major race of Immoren.

Still no sign of an actual Infernal or Skorne though- they're still both represented with proxy races that serve them (humans and titans respectively).

Impressive the breadth of characters they've got in the game now!

It's Warjack Wednesday, that time when we update you on the latest news for Warcaster: Neo-Mechanika! Today we have an important announcement for backers of the Skirmish and Full Battle Force reward levels, and something fun to share from the future of Warcaster.

Progress continues with the first shipping wave and we currently anticipate having everything in the first wave shipped before the middle of next week. However, it has come to our attention that the Weapon Pack A sets that were bonus rewards for the Skirmish and Full Battle Force reward levels did not make it into their shipments. The warjacks will still have their normal allotment of weapons and if you Added-On an additional Weapon A Pack, it should arrive in the first shipment, but the bonus rewards were omitted by mistake. As all backers of these two reward tiers are receiving at least the Weapon Pack B bonus reward in the second shipment, we will be sure to include the Weapon Pack A with that shipment as well. Our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause and we will endeavor to have the next wave out as soon as possible. Wave 2 models are already in production and we will be rolling right from the first wave into the second without delay.

While we previewed a lot of new models coming in the next expansion wave for Warcaster during our 2020 keynote, we still have quite a few new model designs to reveal. Below is the concept artwork for an upcoming Wild Card, Corebus, and he's not a warjack!

A fugitive consciousness on the run, Corebus is a former Empyrean aeon sympathetic to humanity's plight. Having escaped Cyriss Prime, he claimed squatters rights over a dilapidated labor robot to house his soul essence, and has pledged his support to the Marcher cause. Now with extensive self-improvements, Corebus lends his strength and knowledge to the Coalition of Free States. (For size reference, Corebus will be on a 40 mm base. Can be included in Empyrean and Marcher Worlds forces.)

Is that a bedroll on his back? Why would a soul housed in a machine body need a mat to rest on?

Other than that odd bit the cloak adds to the tacticool factor for sure. Everyone knows caped and cloaked mechs operate better than regular ones!

Like this guy!

Corebus will be in good company.

Perhapse its an honoury awarded cape from the Marchers representing their respect after a great feat he performed. Or it was worn by a close and loyal friend who fell in combat and he wears it to this day as a reminder.

It could also be a rolled up:
Camoflage net
Tool kit
General equipment

Widget is a Riot Quest model with Mercenary rules. For the most part, she's another cheap generic mechanic whose flight gives her some solid protection and mobility. In Mercenaries, she can make a jack fire an additional shot, which makes her pretty invaluable for her cost.

DOCTOR MYRA HURST
For this week's preview of the future of Warcaster: Neo-Mechanika, we'd like to introduce you to an upcoming Wild Card Hero, Doctor Myra Hurst.

Doctor Myra Hurst is a gifted theurge and humanity's foremost expert on the nature of Arcanessence. Despite hailing originally from the Iron Star Alliance, she has a number of contacts within Empyrean space. The esoteric nature of her work has brought her into conflict with the Alliance's bureaucracy, which considers her something of a rogue agent and sometime asset.

She works for the Alliance and Empyreans.

I really dislike it as well, but with paint it probably looks fine. The pose is pretty janky and proportions are weird, but she is a significantly augmented human and also isn't 2D by design

Mostly though wanted to say that I dig the ISA jetbike, and jetbikes in general. I need to watch some batreps of Warcaster, I'm still interested in the game and its cool to see it grow beyond what we were shown initially.
