See, politicians are the worst thing possible on earth. People are not naturally enemies, governments and churches just preach hate to divide people.
Flame away if you must, but I don't care.

I think its a little deeper than that tbh Dave. Ever since we were swinging from trees and living in caves there's been leaders and followers, the problems start when people "think". The moment anyone has an idea that is different it causes divide instantly, from petty things like land boundaries to how people should worship in a set way. It's the one thing that sets humanity apart from the rest of the ecosystem. The way I see it is, that it is an inbuilt genetic quality meant to stop population overload... trouble is, our genetics didn't take into account man's over reaching grasp to get what it wants no matter the consequences.
Well that's my take on it, I doubt I'll be agreed with about this lols, but yeah, thats what makes us individuals after all
Ignorance isnt inbuilt into our DNA, all hate and ignorance is taught. Lazyness and fear of the unknown/dark is the only thing inbuilt into us. People are too afraid to think for themselves, it is much easier to blindly follow someone else.
I'll agree to disagree so I don't do my usual foot in mouth tactic of arguing lols. the only thing I'll say on it though Dave is if hate and ignorance is taught, who was the one to first teach it, and where did they learn it from? Chicken and the Egg scenario methinks.
i think both dave and childe are right... sounds a bit lame i know... but i have read and heard positions for both to assist your points... and i think they are even not too far from each other as well...
at alpha... i did a RPG char for a role play incentive a few month back which almost looked like a rebel pilot... will post pics at the ned of this post...
BECAUSE... i took some pretty pics for you...yeah!
was busy... came up with some nice and fashonista ideas for my medich... hopefully it is recognizable...still needs probably a coat or two and then some splatter effects as well...
and then some others...and for RW... sorry you liked the orangy looking bronze... it is now all brass...
so here are the pics...:
medich........notice the stain on the saw blade... the white apron...and some other smaller details...
shiney...now brassed up...
standard bearer got a white leg...
and captain...notice the red hue on the bionics...and how do you like the scheme of the plasma pistol?...also white trousers now...and a black bandana...
sadly i had to discover today that my mecharite red is now all killed... rusty and all dried out... i need to get a replacement soon...now i need to see what is the substitute with GW these days... hopefully there is a similar hue to a paint...or i am going spare...
hmmm... shrike... we are a team... me for having spntaneous idea of painting white aprons... and then youto add shrapnell...darn... shouldn´t i have done that in the modeling phase...argh...^^and oilsstains.,.. most certainly!!!
thanks dave!!! tho i highly doubt that i reach this amount of smoothness... i never did any highlights at all...tho the next thing for my black devils...(the IG fellas...some with skirts...) will get some red devil icons on their shoulders...cross fingers for me not to ruin this...
thanks childe ... when... or if ?
Automatically Appended Next Post: oh and dave... is mephiston red really the substitute or the other base color in red...called...khorne red?... i know... the referrence table states it is mephiston red...but i am a bit unsure when i look at the range...
It's pretty simple Vik..If it's too light add some black, if it is too dark add some white - I know, j/k
Khorne Red looks a bit more purple to me based on the swatch in the book- More like the red I used for Iron Man
Automatically Appended Next Post: The lighter basecoat paint is Jokaero Orange. Remember that reds always dry a different color than they are when they are wet.

yup, coming up with ideas right after you've gone past the point you can do them
chips wouldn't be too difficult, just a few craters with a craft knife or hobby drill, wiggle it around a bit, presto!
...but I wouldn't want to force your hand, so to speak ^^
well the paint revolution had to kick me too in the groin^^ one day^^...
at alpha... a face with horns for sure...probably just a ball with horns on...like this...tho without the face...maybe a mouth tho...

argh.... i´d then kill my medich... how could i....^^...
...but I wouldn't want to force your hand, so to speak ^^
... now we wouldn´t want that...would we? maybe i use a trick and paint it on?...
took me quite long to get to that paintscheme... that dark red and the white work so well together and it is a very iconic look...thanks mate!... and well i fell better now for haveing dne it in brass instead of bronze... seems it is not really my color...^^
throw in german, lithuanian, and a dash of nutmeg and you can grow yourself a Rogue Wolf of your own!
stirr it ocasionally and then reduce it over a low heated flame and you are set... dinner is ready!!!
Something like that would be pretty simple to paint, as it is simple shapes (broken down a circle with two small triangles). Will look good on the Guard!
Hahaha, I love the medich! The apron is a fantastic touch, but he seems to be lacking something in bedside manner - He would not be allowed anywhere near me, no matter how many of my limbs were falling off
I'm just imagining a robotic voice "THIS WILL NOT HURT AT ALL" as the buzzsaw revs up...

Foam backing from one of the blister packs and metal paint. Dip the corner in it a tiny bit then dab it on the surface you want the chips. Be sure to practice on something first though as it can take a while to get used to it. Easiest and quickest way to do it.
yeah..but you want to dab the basecoat color with the sponge or blister foam, then brush-in metal, leaving basecoat showing around the edges...

Ah yes, forgot that technique. Never used it myself, I don't have many (deliberate) chips on my models so I haven't had a chance to try it.

*Fills plastic bag with water then leans out window*
Besides whatchu talkin bout, I'll I remember of that show was the "water bombs".
naaaawwww....... LDD has nothing to do with that one...
yesterday was father´s day in germany... so we have the thursday as a holiday...then what we call here as a bridge/gap day the friday and then the weekend all free of work... so the family is at home for four days... yes...^^ and this takes it´s toll... yesterday i took a way early night... today we went climbing in a "local" climbing garden...that was what its called... well basically we climbed on ropes and stuff... my six year old son felix and me secured with ropes and so like real mountaineers....it was really fun...and i didn´t got any vertigo even as i am not really fond of heights... i guess if i have everything under my controll i am ok with that...
also i did some hobby work...modeled a new captain...or if i get away with it as a commissar...it is an old RT captain... pics of everything i give you tomorrow...
and i have absolutly noooo idea what you guys are talking about with that TV show...
and not_u... will take that tip to heart... must be seen if that could be used on those robots tho...
LOL.... well i try to point out to my beloved wife that this outsyde is dangerous.... you can get run over by wheelchairs and get hit by those awfully cheerful singing birds... it is most vexing.... but wife and the kids get restless when caged up for too long... so they need to get an airing from time to time...
and dave... yes... the last couple weeks...namly the last two weeks particular we had four extra free days... i know you americans must think: WTFH... well... but we make top dollars still here in germany while being totally lazy^^
Viktor von Domm wrote:but we make top dollars still here in germany while being totally lazy^^
don't be silly- all you Germans are up by 5:00am jogging and press ups until 6:30am, when you do whatever your job is with maximum efficiency, scowling at any attempts made to do anything other than work (including talking and toilet breaks), whereupon you finish work, pick up the kids from Hitler youth and go home to get ready for the next day, of course
...I fear I may have gone too far with the Hitler youth
well...even as a german that custom of laying your towel on this sunbed would only inspire me of petty theft... really...you can never have enough big towels at home... why peeps do that is a mystery to me anyways.... dumb move...
German efficency and towels on sunbeds are some of the biggest stereotypes going, along with English drinking tea and liking to que, and American's liking big guns and all you can eat buffets

at shrike... you made me want to read the hitchkiers books again... this time in english... german version wasn´t that good as this small vid suggested the english version might be...
where do you have to que to get your tea? i get mine from the kitchen....hmmm....LDD.. you live in a funny place^^
at neil... yup... thank you sir! and more of the banner bearer to come... was sadly unable to get much work on that fella done...and not able to take pics at all... but fear not... i will remedy myself tomorrow in the fullest! promise...or you can pull me limb from bloddy limb^^
Viktor von Domm wrote:at shrike... you made me want to read the hitchkiers books again... this time in english... german version wasn´t that good as this small vid suggested the english version might be...
aye, I love the books, and the (newer) film is great, too- Martin Freeman is the perfect Arthur, and anything narrated by Steven Fry is bound to be amazing
if you can put it off until tomorrow you can probably put it of until next week. and if you can't there is no need to worry because you are probably crewed anyway
hopefully i get some paint work done today too...and then i take them pics for you all schemeing scunners^^...
and shrike... you are the first to ever say that the new movie was any good... all the other folks i have talked with say it is not really up to the book... but i like the movie... it´s getting aired this week...again...and i am going to see it...again... dunno how often i have seen that one... to see zaphod with that citrone screw on his head is just too priceless^^
Vik, HHGTTG is PURE english, not just in language, but in humor as well. It was just meant to be in English, and read with an English accent. I would highly recommend the audiobook version of the books (one might be able to find a torrent) , read by Douglas Adams himself. Stephen Fry reads the 1st HHGTTG book to the audiobook series, and it is most Excellent! Seriously, I did not "get it" when I read it as much as I "got it" when I first heard it read with all the British accents and spech nuances.

Yeah, that's pretty bad. You seem to be doing lower class, Essex-esque, living-on-benefits speak that proper english, old chap.
A proper written english accent would be "One feels that a jolly good job was done by all of those who participated in the making of this film adaptation of this fine work of literature."

that is totally the right point...tho i had a moment of nerdrage in the return of the king... when aragorn went the path of the death... and his steed ran away....hey...in the book he soothed the beast simply by being the heir...WTF? in a movie surley they could have done a horse walking through mist? ehh?

maybe Peter Jackson wanted to show how... (can't think of a more serious word) scary it is, and how brave aragorn is... and how much some people will go when in a rivalry
Though I was disappointed with the complete absence of Tom Bombadil and some of Tolkien's poems/songs...
tom bombadil was a great gap... and how they filled it... they just gave the four hobbits their "swords" and no one ever explained why pippin´s (?) blade so effective hurt the witchking...?!?
Viktor von Domm wrote:no one ever explained why pippin´s (?) blade so effective hurt the witchking...?!?
that was Merry, but point taken.
other than a few cuts where things shouldn't have been cut, very good film, with excellent actors and crew working near enough non-stop for the large part of 4 years. I never quite realised just how much effort was put into it until I saw these kinds of videos:
Love the comradery between them all, too
Automatically Appended Next Post: especially between these two:
"Eight of the nine members of the Fellowship got a small tattoo of the word "nine" spelled out in Tengwar, which is the Elvish script created by Tolkien. They got it at a tattoo parlor in Wellington, New Zealand, to commemorate the experience of the movie. The ninth member, John Rhys-Davies, declined and sent his stunt double in his place. Elijah Wood's tattoo is on his lower stomach. Sean Astin and Billy Boyd have the tattoo on their ankles (to commemorate all those hours in the hobbit feet). Orlando Bloom, who plays the archer elf Legolas, has his on his forearm. His tattoo is visible during a fight scene in Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. Ian McKellen's is on his shoulder. Dominic Monaghan's is on his shoulder. And the eighth member, Sean Bean, has his tattoo on his right shoulder. Viggo Mortensen has his tattoo on his left shoulder. It is visible on some pictures from the movie Eastern Promises"
oh and i didn´t knew that they talked about where they have it...hmmm...
well we move on...:
first the standard bearer... with sooted marks on the holes in the banner and a general downtrodden look of it...
then a new only glued together new captain... note the big pistol....it´s a dwarven gun...
and no....i don´t think his hand is too big with that ... the other arm by the way is a replaced hand from a grenade tossing one...
and lastly an assassin...
would like to add a sniper rifle to the mini... but i don´t know how... on the base i was thinking as if he had to switch weaponry or behind the back...tho i don´t have a strap yet...
I love the assassin model, and the captain's hand does look slightly too big, is that just the camera's perspective?
also, here's a metric crapton more trivia (and these are just what I thought were the more interesting ones!):
Spoiler:
"The climactic fight scene was shot in the middle of a heatwave, with temperatures in excess of 100 degrees. Many of the actors playing the Uruk'hais had to be carried off the set with heat exhaustion."
"Production designer Grant Major personally supervised the translation of all the writings in Balin's tomb into Dwarvish. He was then horrified to learn that a visiting J.R.R. Tolkien scholar had taken great offence at seeing the phrase "Joe was here" among the writings. They scoured the contents of Balin's tomb and found nothing, only to learn that the scholar - who was overly serious about everything to do with Tolkien - had been told this by a crew carpenter who has having a joke at his expense. Intrepid fans later published screen captures and translations of Moria wall segments where the runes spelled "John was here" and "Made in New Zealand"."
"It is estimated that filming of the trilogy pumped about $200,000,000 into the New Zealand economy. The New Zealand government even created a Minister for Lord of the Rings, whose remit was to exploit all the economic opportunities the films represented."
"Fans were offered the chance to have their names in the special edition's hugely lengthy closing credits for $39.95."
"Hobbiton was made a year before production began to make it look like it was a natural, lived-in place, complete with real vegetable patches. The greens department regulated the length of the grass by having sheep eat it."
"The large tree that stands above Bag End was built especially by the production department. Every leaf had to be manually attached."
"1800 Hobbit feet were made for the production."
"During the Council of Elrond, leaves are continually falling in the background to suggest that this is a meeting that is taking place outside. This meant about half a dozen crew members were positioned above the set, dropping leaves at various intervals. This also meant that the production department had to collect sacks and sacks of leaves during autumn, and of course dead leaves turn brown fairly quickly. Which also meant that every single one of those leaves had to be individually painted."
"The nocturnal screams of possums were used for the screeches made by the Orcs in the mines of Moria."
"The main sound elements for the cave troll were a walrus, a tiger and a horse."
"The total crew amounted to over 3,000 people of which approximately over 300 were in the art department alone."
"It's common practice with a high budget feature film to have more than one unit shooting at any one time, usually two or three. With "The Lord of the Rings", there were occasions when there would be between five and seven units shooting at any given time."
"Usually on a feature film, when the director comes to view the dailies, there's about 20-25 minutes of footage to be seen. Because of the number of different units out filming at any one time, the dailies for "The Fellowship of the Ring" were about 3-4 hours long, ie, the length of the finished film."
"During filming, most of the members of the Fellowship took up surfing in New Zealand in their spare time. Among them was Viggo Mortensen, who wiped out terribly one day, and bruised one whole side of his face. The next day, makeup tried to mask the bruising and swelling, but were unsuccessful. Instead, Peter Jackson opted to film Mortenson from one side for the entire scene. In the scene in the Mines of Moria when they find the grave of Gimli's relative, Aragorn is only seen from one side in the whole scene."

"During the fight between Lurtz and Aragorn, Viggo Mortensen successfully parried the dagger thrown at him on his first attempt."
"In order to make "forced perspective" a bit more interesting, the filmmakers devised a totally new system consisting of a pulley and a platform. When the camera moved (which is normally impossible as the forced perspective would become obvious) the actor(s) also moved, and the perspective (7-foot Gandalf - 4-foot hobbits) would always be okay. They also used three differently sized props (large, medium, small) to interact with the different sized characters"
"1,460 eggs were served to the cast and crew for breakfast for every day of shooting."
"Dominic Monaghan (Merry), wore a fat suit made of foam. He drank three liters of water a day so he would not dehydrate."
"Sean Astin gained 30 pounds for his role as Samwise."
"Viggo Mortensen did his own stunts. He also insisted on using only the real steel sword, instead of significantly lighter aluminum sword or safer rubber sword which were manufactured for battle scenes and stunts."
"John Rhys-Davies, who plays Gimli the dwarf, is the tallest of the actors who play members of the Fellowship."
"After the New Zealand premiere, director Peter Jackson joined the actors who played the nine members of the Fellowship by getting a commemorative tattoo of his own. While their tattoos were the Elvish symbol for "9", Jackson received an Elvish "10"."
"Peter Jackson gave one of the rings used in the movies to both Elijah Wood and Andy Serkis as gift when the shoot was finished. They both thought they had the only one."
"The three trolls which were turned to stone in "The Hobbit" are in the background during the scene where Frodo, Sam, Merry, Pippin, and Strider/Aragorn are resting after fleeing from Weathertop/Amon Sul."
"Wellington, the capital of New Zealand, changed its name to Middle Earth for the film's opening."
"Ian McKellen based Gandalf's accent on that of J.R.R. Tolkien himself."
"Gandalf's painful encounter with a ceiling beam in Bilbo's hobbit-hole was not in the script - Ian McKellen banged his forehead against the beam accidentally, not on purpose. But Peter Jackson thought McKellen did a great job "acting through" the mistake, and so kept it in."
"Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn), who is trilingual in English, Spanish, and Danish, requested the script be revised to let Aragorn speak more of his lines in Elvish."
"The Orc blacksmiths shown beneath Isengard are actually the WETA Workshop staff who made the weapons used in the film."
"The different colors of blue for the elves' eyes revealed what race they were. The Lothlorien elves had light blue eyes, and the Rivendell elves were dark blue."
"Bilbo's cake caught fire as he was about to leave the party, but Ian Holm gamely finished the scene."
"Over 12.5 million plastic rings were made in order to fabricate simulated chain mail for the movie. Two crew members spent the length of the shoot linking the rings by hand into suits of armor. By the end of production, they had worn the fingerprints off their thumbs and index fingers."
"Viggo Mortensen kept his sword with him at all times off set so that he could remain in character. He was questioned several times by police after reviewing his training sessions with the sword and being spotted by members of the public."
"When Frodo falls on the snow and loses the ring, a close-up of the ring with Frodo in the background is shown. In order to keep both the subjects focused, a giant ring (6 inches of diameter) was used."
"The scream of the Ringwraiths is actually Fran Walsh, the co-writer and co-producer of the film."
"The cast often had to fly to remote shoot locations by helicopter. Sean Bean (Boromir) was afraid of flying and would only do it when absolutely necessary. When they were shooting the scenes of the Fellowship crossing the snowy mountains, he'd spend two hours every morning climbing from the base of the mountain to the set near the top, already dressed as Boromir. The crew being flown up could see him from their helicopters."
"Peter Jackson's original plan was to exclusively hire British actors for the roles of the hobbits. As it turned out, Billy Boyd and Dominic Monaghan were the only ones, and one of the tasks he charged them with was to coach Elijah Wood and Sean Astin in the ways of British pub culture."
"While filming the trilogy, Viggo Mortensen got so into character that during a conversation, Peter Jackson referred to him as "Aragorn" for over half an hour without him realizing it."
"When the hobbits are on screen, they always walk from the left of the screen to the right, never the other way around (because of the movie convention that West-East travel is represented by left-right movement)"
"During Bilbo's party Pippin can be seen in the band playing a guitar."
"When Bilbo finds the Ring at the start of the movie Gollum shouts "My Precious" however Andy Serkis wasn't on set that day so Dominic Monaghan stood in for him."
"When Pippin is being hit with the apples after asking about second breakfast, it is Viggo Mortensen himself chucking the apple at his head. They had to shoot the scene 16 times to get it just right, and Billy Boyd says he believes Mortensen enjoyed himself immensely."
"Gimli's line "Nobody tosses a dwarf!" was filmed after the "Toss me" line in The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers."

"Every actor in the film wore a wig apart from Billy Jackson, the director's toddler son, seen listening wide-eyed to a tale told by Bilbo Baggins at his birthday party, had the perfect Hobbit hair."
"Peter Jackson has the entire Bag End set in storage, hopefully for future use."
"Viggo Mortensen purchased Arwen's horse after production and gave it to Liv Tyler's riding double."
"Peter Jackson can be glimpsed outside the Prancing Pony holding a carrot. Originally it was supposed to be a pipe, but after a couple of puffs, he felt sick and went for the carrot instead."
"Boromir's speech at the Council of Rivendell is read from a sheet of paper sitting on Sean Bean's lap as it was only given to him the night before."
"John Rhys-Davies is 6 foot 3 (which is actually the perfect proportional height for Gimli in relation to the Hobbits)."
"Liv Tyler had never read any of the books when she was approached to appear in the film. She quickly boned up on Middle Earth lore, to the extent of even learning some Elvish."
"Orlando Bloom landed the role of Legolas two days before he finished drama school."

"Richard Taylor's Weta Workshop made over 45,000 individual items from prosthetics to armor for the films."
"Costume designer Ngila Dickson had 40 seamstresses working for her, creating over 19,000 costumes."

"When the dragon firework goes off at the party, the shriek heard is Billy Boyd actually screaming, as he was unaware at the time that the firework was really going to explode on set (he thought that it would be put in digitally). It was not scripted, but that take ended up in the final film."
"A rubber puppet with a horrific face was superimposed over Ian Holm's face when Bilbo Baggins catches a glimpse of the ring again in Rivendell. Holm was so delighted with the puppet that the design team had a cast iron version of it made for his mantelpiece and gave it to him as a parting gift when Holm wrapped all his scenes on the film."
"Throughout the trilogy, the color of Legolas' eyes change from blue to brown. This is because the contact lenses Orlando Bloom was wearing scratched his corneas and could not be worn every day. In some of the shots, the post production team digitally changed the color of his eyes."
"According to Sean Astin in the extended DVD commentary, when Bilbo drops the ring before leaving Hobbiton the floor was magnetic to prevent the ring from bouncing. This was done to demonstrate the importance and weight of the ring."
"In one take of the Bucklebury Ferry scene, Elijah Wood overshot his jump and ended up in the river instead of on the Ferry."
"Bill Bailey auditioned for the role of Gimli."
"Since the Balrog is supposed to be a stone demon, the sound it makes was created by grinding stone tiles together."

i have no idea what range that model is from... his hans are a bit tiny and he looks a bit inbetween fantasy and scifi... it was a resin character and the only clue i have was a tiny "2" on the base as a raised detail on the brim... anything else is a mystery to me...

ah yes, I remember reading about that (I think in one of the behind-the-scenes books I have), but I have about 15/20 LOTR related books, so I'm not gonna go find it ^^
something about the alliance of men and elves and there were always people running away towards the back in the early stages...
No!! It's Perfect!! 40k's Vintage style is all about the oversized heads, hands, and weapons IMHO- that look is perfect!- To make him a bit taller though, just give him a slightly raised scenic base (with rivets) !
hmm.... that is also one of my priority projects... i need to get my own brand of bases done... not for comerce but for my own needs... the rivetto bases are too blank for that... i think i soon have to come up with something... rivetted...hmmm... there is a thought^^
...Just glue scraps of plastic strips and shapes together at random, add some rivets, and BAM..you're done. It's easy. He could be standing on any random industrial-looking doohickey
Nice job Vik (you putting me to shame again) paint jobs coming along nicely and the use of the old skool mini nice touch.
Never considered using the dwarf pistols might have to have a look through the old bits box myself, some steam punk ideas would work using them, the hand looks fine to me maybe a little GS to blend should be fine.
Sweet a dwarf rocket launcher I have some holiday time coming up so hopefully some hobby time but I need to work on painting my WK dwarfs they are screaming for paint
I like the old skool guard have a few nocking around somewhere, my favourite were the penal human bombs they were crazy looking fethers, have to take the dogs out know before they crossed there legs any further
I know i have been away for a while (Had a bit of painters block, so i have been Xboxing instead [Spacemarine, Fallout: New Vegas, Dragon Age II] But at the weekend i went to see a Chinook Helicopter land, and then we got a look around. And i saw some lovely rivets and I thought of you.
So his is my humble rivety offering, to let you know that there are still rivets in my heart in my absence.
well i have a bunch of around 20 old RT imps waiting for a long overdue paintjob already... started them a year ago... but somehow the minis never really spoke to me... i think they will soon see a redo...
steam punk men are mad mate! real funky shizz.
what wait and style of paper did you use for you tanks btw if you know that is?
i'm tryna make those tank i mentioned so long ago. due use cartridge paper?
my tanks are just the plain backsides of artists paperblocks... you know...tghe big ones...rather thick mostly but sometimes i vary the thickness of the cardboard... when i have used paper it was mostly to roll it up for some added details on barrels and such... the second tank, the grey one is pure cardboard... the frist one the big red one is insulation foam and cardboard build...
and thanks stonned astardes for the nice compliments!
at LDD...i bet that would look cool... oh if i could just finish my cadian/steampunk army...then i could go wild on all my catachan soldiers...
the problem with pics is they are always mouthwatering... so new buys and new projects develop from these... so any picture i am not viewing keeps the money in the wallet and the to do list in line too
oh my... i forgott to change the thread header....argh....and i did what not_u suggested... all my pics are there....*hides in the closet*
ok... back again...
update time... later than i promised... but here nevertheless...
worked on a commissar... i need a bit of guidance today from you mates... i am a bit unsure of the scheme...
same goes for my assassin... somehow i think this scheme as well could look better... where have i went into the wrong direction so to speak...
and then the new captain with white pants and also a new mini i haven´t showed you yet... a comlink stromtrooper... it is supposed to be of a Star wars related mini range tho i am not really sure if that is really the origins of that mini...if someone has any clues... spill the beans!^^
not a huge fan of the commissar's sword, but the main scheme looks good...
maybe all the sword needs it a few layers of gloss varnish to give it that "sheen"?
I have that commissar, but his stormcoat is dark green, otherwise being the same paint scheme. I only went with green over black because I was kind of fed up with painting black, me doing raven guard all the time
hmm... i am also unsure of the sword... will have to see what can be done there...
by the way... i started to give that kneeling character sharpshooter a go... you remember the "shrike" one? used some LGS for some gaps i made on him and now i primed him... will start to paint him tomorrow... mind if you share (again) your paintscheme for guard? he should be painted fitting for your guardsmen...
Viktor von Domm wrote:hmm... i am also unsure of the sword... will have to see what can be done there...

at shrike...i see what i can do to camo him up a treat for you!
at RW...yup...that is a tank crew head...and it is totally scracthbuild too...the cloak is from a sniper and the torso is just a big lump of fimo really...^^
thanks not-u...will redo that sword in that fashion asap^^
Great model, Vik! He has a cool stealth/tech feel. It's good to see all of these troops that you're churning out.
CC: I would like to see a stock on his rifle (seems important for high precision work ) I'm not quite sure what's going on with his left hand. What is it that you were going for there?
Rogue Wolves wrote:thats a cool model! where is that head from? tank?
well he is either making small marine handsigns with it or as i modeled it for : is cocking the mechanism...you now? when you lock and load a gun...and he is not really a sniper... more like a stealth operative... behind the lines kinda guy...
First of I was not sure of the sword on the commissar but when I zoomed in it looks way better and looks more like a power sword , also is that a EM4 mini I see their middle picture.
The kneeling guy is he in the city scape or land scape obviously this will determine his fatigues colouring if he is in a city scape a more urban camo pattern would be needed, if he is in a rural setting then a natural rural camo pattern would be needed.
I think the head is an sentinel pilot head from the old box set if I am correct, usually I am
EM4 mini... maybe... tho there are different versions it seems out there of that com-guy...
that kneeling guy as you named him... i am painting him currently up to fit shrikes guardsmen army... and for now he hgets a woodland camo cloak... mebbe i am able to come up with some good looking WIP later on...
and i am not sure myself what kind of head it is... as i never bought a single set of GW... it is all recycled and bitzbox related stuff that i produce here...
so my lads and ladies of the grim darkness of painting style... i here present my further works on some of my current minis...behold:
at first let me present to you the "shrike" memorial miniature... i tried to make a lense effect but failed miserably there... i have done better already so i will have to fix that tomorrow...
and sadly the flash killed my subtil camo cloak effects... darn... there is no substitute for daylight pics if you want to make something delicate be looking good...
and then a small collection of gathered minis i am still working on... the commissar got a new sword...as ordered^^ and note the shoulderpads on the guy on the left... the devils have now their on icon...
lots of touchups still needed tho... the zooming showed me some horrible spots i have to fix...on every mini... the cam really doesn´t lie...
at dave... not this one^^... i was back then experimenting a bit and one thing led to another... then this just for fun model cought shrikes attention... now i paint it up for him...
Viktor von Domm wrote:at first let me present to you the "shrike" memorial miniature... i tried to make a lense effect but failed miserably there... i have done better already so i will have to fix that tomorrow...
I like to make the colour go slowly brighter towards one corner (usually top right for me), ending up in a small white dot, with a gloss coat over. But yeah, daylight pics would be better to see
I got my meeting after all today my shift manager wanted a wood "Cough" not a bollocking just a word, blabbered on for a bit of not standing up and fighting for everyone else, then went on to tell me not to undermined the senior staff middle management, shortly followed by offering me a so called promotion with fast track potential, followed by me laughing at him and saying not a chance in hell. Some times I love my job
LOL... seems that was one of those occasions where a hidden cam should have been installed... a great laugh for all the non management staff^^ i bet the face he made after offering this was worth all the other crap he onloaded on you before^^...will your refusing have a negative effect... well with your hearty laugh i expect so^^ but somethings have to be said and done^^... like wolverine said... it´s a mean job...but someones gotta do it^^
Well, it never has before so I cant see why it would now but who knows ……. Don't know how many times I have turned down promotions there you think they would get the hint by now
lol... seems you have to face quite a lot of stubborn peeps...
well i need to get an eyeshut asap... it´s already one o clock in the morning....argh... it´s so darn difficult to squeeze more than five hours worth of sleep out of five hours worth of night...
i always wonder if you guys are my friends or secretly are more my fiends... and where i could discern what the difference would be... if we take some of your comments in this thread into account... and no i didn´t eat anything weird today
lol... if you could get me into your sight you had to be a special sniper talent like in the movie "wanted" lol
and no... no connection to americans i know of...^^and surprisingly our food is global accepted if not adored^^...if it werent for our blitzkriegs we would be chums with the world
Ah yes, in America we do eat Frankfurters, Hamburgers, Saurkraut, Pickles, Apple(Apfel) Pie, Dumplings, and other foods our German Immigrants brought the recipes for and let us never forget Beer!
Vik it is simple, next warmongering tin plated dictator swaggering around with grandiose illusions needs to be locked up in a padded cell is all.
the point is to get him quick enough into that paded cell... remember that austrian guy was incarcerated too before everything went totally pooshaped...
Viktor von Domm wrote:the point is to get him quick enough into that paded cell... remember that austrian guy was incarcerated too before everything went totally pooshaped...
at shrike... my, my... what have you matured^^
Ah, but that was just a normal jail cell. He would have been scrutinized in the padded cell and kept away from others.

Germany is in the best shape out of the other parts of the EU, so not likely, Other Nations are more likely to look closely at Fascism though as the right mix of bad things are going on.

be careful what you wish for... you might just get it^^
and the germans are warmongering over at least the last ten years now... kosovo, afghanistan you name it we´ve been there... and we are now into a position to shoot back... and that lil trick worked in poland over some fifty years ago... and it might work at your doorstep too... you can´t trust a country ruled by an old turkey^^
anyways... here is an update... with daylight pics... and the new added licks of paint to these minis...here goes...:
camo is a bit now to be seen ...tho it looks better in person...also the glasses of the visor are taking shape...
cheers, vik

dsteingass wrote:I think it's spelled Leuitenant, but the British don't know how to speak english worth a damn, and say left-
I heard it was pronounced like that to sound different to a similar word which could be confused in the middle of a battle with lots of noise, something like that.

Well over in PA they had themsleves a nice place called German town... ahh do i love that apple pie. (with a side order of meatball sandwhich, tomato pie, (american) chinese food, pickles, and brownies) ... mm thats a meal
Nice to see a splash of paint on these at long last starting to look like an army I like the scheme and the commissar has turned out well like the empire heads with those kilts really works well.
As for the American/English language debate I will pass …….. because we invented the dam thing you stole it and ruined it LOL

See Vik, it is the 21st century, women are allowed to be as perverted as us males, some go more so much more than me, and it drives me mad!
Ah, but the Movie has some interesting effects like the saucers and such, also to many it is likely to have different meanings like the scene shown in the trailer when they compare computers

I think it is great to have the woman's point of view (that is if you are one ) after all I have been pretending to be a man for years so my misses keeps telling me

To be fair most woman painters I have seen have a great technique and there painting skills are not bad either, no seriously they have a real knack for it and achieve great results.

In general, dakka doesn't really punish most people for being trolls or D-bags that much at all, AFAIK.
