The heavy has got to be my favourite the wood barrel section looks great and the 2 colours contrast well
The tin bitz has to be used on a large area to get real effect from it (as Dave mentioned ) but overall love the look, the flat cap has turned out nicely to
the drybrush idea i got too during the night...will try that later on shaso!

on a different matter... some days ago i mentioned me ordering some of the new paints from the GW range... well...i tried today the white foundation paint...man!
so whoever is in fear of being able to getting a smooth and crips white on their minis... fear not... get
this will solve all your problems ! i can guarantee that!... i even tried it on my scotsmen ... and i will present tomorrow some nice pics of what i did on them... this new paint is serving me quite brilliantly!
also i hope to present you some more work on the rivettos...

rivettos...now with eyes done...basically white, then red and then yellow over it all...to have a more warm looking effect...
and then the whiteness... note...there are still some of the chaps that need even more white... but the covering of this ceramite white is pretty strong...
The white looks well white so on that note it works the bots look great they have that kind of jolly I am going to rip your arms from your body look to them.

Have you tried adding a retardant to your gold it stops it drying so quickly and thins it without colour loss You get it in most art shops also great to help with blending colours

Invest in the retarder but make sure its acrylic retarder,it does help and once you get used to it you can get some nice results

My Fiancée knits and mocks me for wargaming. I mock her for knitting. It is a true sign of a stable relationship.
As for the Robots, they are looking pretty good. Gold is a strange paint, it is very thin both in pigment and consistency. It might help to apply it in a few thin layers.

I had a concept for a TV show that I would watch, but it would never get air time I'm sure, because there would be no interaction between the teams, so no (fake) Drama.
You have teams, doean't matter how many, but let's say 12 teams. There are 4 people to each team. They are from all walks of life, City, Country, Bankers, Farmers, Oil Riggers, what have you.
You set each team down in an isolated portion of a certain type of terrain, with one gallon of water, to share between them, one small book of matches, a small amount of food, a knife, a map and a compass. There are 10 checkpoints they have to reach in a certain amount of time. But distances are far enough that they will not be able to get to the end with the supplies they have and will have to fend for themselves, or become too weak to go on. They won't die of course, they will have GPS tracking units with them so they can be picked up if they get too dissoriented or injured. There would be cameras attached to them, and cameras in the trees and stuff.
Kind of a cross between "The Amazing Race" and "Survivor Man".
actually that sounds a bit like football to me...(soccer for you amricans)... which is better to be played by yourself than watched on telly... your show idea souds like a cool trip...tho wathcing others do all that survival stuff...hmmm wouldn´t reach me... and also you would get drama too...because the teammates would have the drama built in in the teams... drama is self fuling...
Well sure, that kind of drama I can deal with, but there wouldn't be "voting people out" kind of drama. But there could be I guess if it needed it to get bought by the networks.
Actually I had to soften the concept from what I orriginally had, mostly due to modern "Don't want the idiots to get hurt" / Pollitically Correct crap.
At first I wanted there to be the possibility of people getting killed by wild animals or poisonous vegetation. But people that I talked to about it thought it was too harsh.
But really, the world could do with a little "thinning of the herd".
Or, you could have the game run by inmates on death row, and actually have it be life or death. The winner gets pardonned or a reduced sentence.
I absolutely love your scratchbuilt robots, vik! They're adorable, and so unique - the latest painted guy looks ace. And the dog-type one is awesome! No idea how I've missed this thread for so long, all - 277 pages? Seriously? Dammit, I'm supposed to be studying!

Running Man. Sure, I never read the book, but the movie was pretty good.
I bet with the World's love of "reality" TV, that type of thing isn't too far off. Mine is more like survival though, not people actually trying to kill the other people. But still, I would watch it!
and well... if it was up to me... then sports games like jugger was also on tv... why watch a game of ice hockey if it wasn´t a real fight?... i was once at a game of ice hockey...and they did a real hard tackle there... the blood of the "victim" was on the ice the whole game... (he wasn´t hurt that badly...but it looked quite cool to have this ppol of red blood on that white icey ground...)

well here are some of the current works of mine... some are still heavy WIP...some are reaching the finishing line...
so here goes:
stovepipehat... detailwok done on the boiler and the gun... brassed up the gun and did the boiler in tin bitz (which needs to be tidied up a treat still...)
shiney...he got his joints done in dwarven bronze...i am totally unsure about them... i think i ruined the look and it needs to be redone...brass will be better...your thoughts?...also i did the boiler in tin bitz... which looks quite good in my opinion...
medich...used tin bitz on his pipeworks and on some pistons... actually i see now that i need to take more pics of him as his mech arm isn´t really to be seen atm...
and...
black devil standard bearer...needs some details and then a wash session...then i think i can call it quits with him...
and his captain...what do you think about the brassed up bionics?...and does the brass suit the plasma pistol? remeber they should blend in a bit to the other steampunk soldiers...
well...what´s your thoughts now...?

I think Shiney could work as he is, but the bronze may separate him from the others a little too much - you could try dulling it down with a few washes? and thanks mate...stovepipe is the most true to the original concept of rivetto... so only fair he gets lots of attention... soon i will make a dial in his chest and other smaller deatils too...

i think i don´t want to have shginey stay that way... will get a brasswork done on him soon... also...he has that chestplate... maybe you have seen that detail on him... what do you think should i paint it? let it stay silver or should i go for a ctrasting color? i am leaning towards the latter...
Nice job on the bots but I agree that you need a few washes to get rid of the shine, plus a few oil stains would not go a miss.
The bright dwarf bronze needs dulling up a little in contrast it seems a little bright, I see what you are trying to achieve here but you need a balance with the colours and the washes will help to blend.
Over all I like where these are going and the brass bionic is a nice touch.

and yep...oil stains and other slushy weathering will happen to all... shiney won´t stay that shiey after everything... i can do oily stains with a bit of blue wash in the mix non?
Bronze or brass should be done in 3 steps- it looks wrong to you because you've only used one step- You need a base, a shade, and then a highlight. Adding and additional brown basecoat beforehand and/or adding verdigris afterwards are optional additional steps, but at minimum you need to do metallics in the three steps.

and yes... shiney looked wrong to me too... and too far off from the rest of the bunch... even the silver i used is different to the others as it is a revell color i have which actually flows quite nice... but has a shade between mithril silver and boltgun metal... so i tried it for variety...but after a decent wash aplication this will look better...
at dave... thanks a heap for that hint... brown basecoat i read about for gold and other warmer metalics...why i didn´t use it then... well bloody stubornness and lazyness i think... but i will take that hint to heart...or rather hindbrain^^
tho i can not really tell if the bronze of mine is a bit ill in nature... other metalics look quite different staright from the bottle...
on other news... probably will get to make some new pics later on when my wife is in bed...no not what you think.... no my progerss on the medich and the others...^^

Visual aesthetics is half the model in the end Max, if you neglect half of something, it doesnt matter how good the other half looks as it'll just drag the model down.
at shaso... sounds like good recipe...tho i admit... it might get stuck at the bonze level as i seldom try even the slightest highlight......and what wash would you use for that?

The latest discussion on my blog has been about what big project I do next... the kick-off of which will be on page 300. Since I'm on 299 now... I guess the "options" are narrowing. I have a single figure that I'd like to perform a rather unique experiment on (not a big deal)... but I think most folks are expecting something grander. I'll make up my mind when I roll the page.

Yeah, I was not impressed by the movie either, I expected way more from Tarentino. But it did live up to his penchant for gore. My wife even wanted to see it! We saw it in the theater! (This is very rare for her.) Now she won't go to see any new movie with me.
A Knight's Tale was good, haven't seen it in years. I think I have the DVD...I should check it out again.

The first full Cadian army I saw was done in the Starship Trooper scheme. Very impressed, it led to me collecting my IG army, Painted as Republic pilots...

I think as you level up your weirdness it becomes stronger.
Just finished watching that movie where they get super powers (nice description I know), but more or less shot as if on a hand held camera and as if they were normal people and how they'd cope with it. Can't remember the name (even though it's a somewhat recent movie), but it wasn't that bad.

Well my grandfather served in the RAF coastal command, and when stationed in Italy he met my grandmother, who's Austrian relatives had a member who served in the Gestapo. very awkward.
well...my grandmother was half jewish and my grandfather was a soldier... but they met after the "peace"-making... they lived in the same neighberhood... he was back from the war to burry his mother as the house she lived in got bombed...and my grandma helped with the rumbleremovings...
