Hey! Got a ship notice overnight. 10.1kg, and due on Monday. If recent UPS deliveries from the UK are any indication, it'll get delayed by a day in customs and end up getting here on Tuesday. Still, I should have it all in hand for my break from work, and maybe even have time to try out/play a game. (using 40k figs as proxies..)
Just got my second wave (Sans plastic sprue enforcers/forge guard, of course). Everything appears to be there, and I like the look of their new(?) 40mm bases.
On a side note, I'd missed looking closely at the Zombie sprues earlier, because my wife and I happily noticed that there appears to be gender parity for the zombie sprues. Here's hoping the trend continues on into the future, as it means my wife's savings will be poured into Mantic's pocket alongside my own!
Is it one female zombie per 5-zombie sprue, or were there two female torsos? That was a pretty cool move by Mantic. Although.. it begs the question, where did all of the female zombies come from since there are so few female soldier and civilian minis floating around Well, comparatively to space knights and space soldiers, etc.
Further to this, got an email today that my form has been reviewed, an apology that the wave 2 shipping is interfering with their normal operations, and an estimate that my stuff will be sent by Monday 8th.
Received an email today that my replacement stuff is shipped (I assume, it's a generic 'your wave 2 order has been shipped'). So not quite as quick as first indicated, but still very acceptable.

A friend also got 4 when he thought he ordered 2. I only got 2.
scarletsquig wrote: ^ Read that again. $300 for free softback compendium, second survey credit included.
The free resins and hardback have *always* been original KS money only, and this has been the case ever since the KS ended.
If anyone was expecting free resins or hardback from survey spends, you're not going to be getting them, this was something that was clearly communicated during the KS and I spent $40 to buy the hardback because I knew I wouldn't qualify with survey cash.
That doesn't seem like what he was saying, but I guess you may be right. I'll find out when I get my stuff since I'm way over 750 on the second survey.

I got mine yesterday and the shipping e-mail today. There's more than I was expecting (although I did order it all) and it all seems complete (without opening any bags, it was too overwhelming).
The one thing that I did find interesting was the Enforcer on bike, which unlike the dark grey resin of everything else, was everything from white to light blue to translucent blue. Loads of thin flash too on it too, which I don't remember the original models having, but I may have just erased that process from my memory.
I got the paperback books and they were all nice and up to Mantic's usual quality. Looks like there's a bit more background fluff in some of them, which is something I feel Mantic could do with more of.
Got my delivery email at 11.55 this morning, at 12 the postie arrived with my boxes
Everything seems there so far, the zombie sprues made up most of one of the boxes and look really good the forge fathers from what I can see through the bag look pretty mold line free although the striders have some biggish sprue chunks to remove.
i'm hoping I can add on some enforcer sprues to wave3 if their of the same quality as the zombies, I'd better drop mantic an email..
Got my shipping notification this morning and ten minutes later the box arrived on my doorstep. I've heard a few people say something similar so I guess a whole batch of e-mails got delayed or forgotten about until now or something.
Only my FF starter was labelled as such, the rest came just the same as Wave 1, chucked in any old how. Wasn't rocket science to work out what was what, though, and nothing was missing (nothing extra, either :()
Some pretty noticeable mould lines on the Asterians (but nothing awfu), barely any on anything else. The detail on all the restic items (except the strider pilots) seems much crisper than in Wave 1, so that's a positive.
Speaking of the Striders, if anyone could tell me which parts make the left arm that attaches to the massive enforcer gun I'd be really grateful. The slots and tabs and nubs on the parts I have don't seem to match up at all.
The plastic zombies look great, kind of wish I had more than just the free sprue.
Really happy with it all. Quality seems much better than in wave 1, though I may well have just got lucky this time!
The quality does seem much better, although I'll still stick to my plastic sprues only policy come the warpath ks, although the forgefathers are really nice!
Yes, the PVC quality is definitely better, better than the recent Warmahordes stuff I've been assembling (my buddy got into it and dragged me along). Much crisper.
The Asterians are much smaller and slighter than I thought they'd be. They're very true 28 comparied to the Marauders. I really really like them.
The Space Zombies are excellent, just great. If the hard plastic Enforcers and Forge Fathers are anything like this then Mantic has a homerun. The zombies are crisper than Renedra sprues - did a quick eyeball comparison to plastic Perry Afrikakorps and the previous Mantic Forge Father steel warriors sprue. Also, I actually prefer the one-compartment-per-bit sprue design, it makes it really easy to locate the bit you want and the sprue is very sturdy (unlike some WGF and Renedra sprues that have bits pre-popped off in the box)
I got my shipping notice. It said that my 6.7kg box was still in England, and will be delivered on the 17th. I may have to get cracking on the stuff I still haven't painted to make room.
Tell me about it :( My wife's heading off for a girls weekend this weekend - two evenings where I could be clipping and glueing. I'm hoping fervently it gets delivered today.

That way you could even build some models too, right?
AI card deck for solo and co-op play, really looking forward to seeing how fun that is. Jake said he'd learned a lot doing the Deadzone and Mars Attacks ones, so chances are the Dungeon Saga one will be better but hopefully these are still good.
I got the dudes in the booster- biker, demo guy, boss man, but no other FFs- obviously I'm aware the sprues are later, but wasn't sure if the other Brokkrs were shipping or not.
I was really looking forward to the mining laser. I guess I'll keep looking forward to it!
Also got Bjorn, and he's one chunky little guy! I want more FF drop troopers now!
I have my package going to my parents' house, which is quite literally only 5 minutes away from Tamburlaine. How does he keep getting his packages before me!?
I think most of us with 20lbs+ packages got mostly, or at least a lot of, terrain don't think 7.6kg would even accomodate 8BZ plus box?
Anyway, plastic zombies are indeed very, very good and of course Mantic didnot pack my order correctly: one fortified BZ too much and a ruins BZ missing.
...TBH i'm relieved that that seems to be the only error (or at least, the biggest - I haven't started parts-checking the restic baggies yet!).
I really can't help bt feel they're doing themselves a disservice though. I don't think I've gotten even one wave shipment on one KS from Mantic where they disn't have to send some missing stuff in a separate shipment. That gets expensive, I would say.

Because I'm awesome?
I should totally go intercept your package and snatch up my space zombies! Maybe accidentally make one of those Asterians disappear!
Nah, I guess I'll be good.
If you do end up getting any extra mispacked Space Elf robots send one my way!

I don't remember what I ordered, actually. I know I'm getting a gakload of stuff in Wave 3, though. I'd dig out the list, but if it's going to arrive at my ship address next Monday and be in hand on that Friday, I may as well just check then. I know I got more terrain in MA, though...
Bit of a production update for you! The rules are in, edited and in layout. These will be sent to print at the end of the month and released digitally to you sometime between then and shipping. The cards, roster pad, box and counters are all in layout and will be completed by the end of the month, and the pitch has been re-artworked and sent off for feedback to the playtesting group. I've managed to swipe the latest version for you here:
All of the boxed game miniatures have been painted and photographed. We’ve shown off the Convicts and Asterians before, but what you won’t have seen are the Free Agents:
We’re also had the first mold-tests into the office and those are looking great. We’re really happy with how they’ve turned out, coming ready-to-play out of the box makes a huge difference. We’ll get photographs taken as soon we can. Beyond the boxed game, Season 4, Season 5 and Season 6 rulebooks are all in editing and play-testing. They will then go into lay-out when they are ready. The remainder of the miniatures are all being molded at the moment. As you know we’ve broken the shipping down into two waves. The first will include the Boxed Game, the second will definitely include the Expansion set. What else goes in the first shipment will depend on what tooling is finished at the time. All-in-all everything is going nice and smoothly!
Pledge Manager Update The 30th September is the final deadline for submitting your pledge manager, giving you just over 2 weeks to get it completed! There are a few outstanding issues that we're aware of: - Option to select free team on additional pledge bundles - Adding M'zai Kein and Phantasm to pledge levels and list of MVPs (and the Krastavor to the Xpansion set - see below!) - Updating pledge level graphics
We're working hard to resolve these before the pledge manager closes, though unforutnately we cannot actually update the system ourselves as it's ran by a third-party. If there are any more issues please let us know and we'll get them fixed as soon as we can. Thanks for your patience.
Stretch Goal update Since the last time we spoke, we’ve locked in the Season 5 Keepers and Prones. In fact, we’ve also broken through another stretch goal since we last looked – the Season 6 Keepers and Prones! That means that all twelve teams now get Prone Miniatures. It also means that most teams also get components to convert Guards into Keepers! Note that the Kalyshi and Tsudochan Team cannot take a Keeper. The Hulk in the Hobgoblin team and the Crystallan guards are too large to fit on the keeper components and so also don’t have them. With the funds we’ve raised since we’ve opened the Pledge Manager, we’ve also been able to squeeze on the Krastavor!
Krastavor, Xtreme Giant
The Koris inhabit a dimension filled with many horrors, little more disturbing than the Krastovor. Resembling a huge, biomechanical arachnid, these creatures are far more intelligent than their bestial form suggests, although whether this is their natural state or due to their cybernetic “upgrades” is open for debate. The Koris are known to bring them through when they make incursions to real-space, using them as guard-beasts for the secluded hideaways they set up on ruined worlds.
This means we've unlocked the Krastavor and thrown it free into the Xtreme Xpansion boxed set included in Rampage and up, completing the miniatures range for DreadBall Xtreme.
Yeah arachnomechanid is acceptable. Kind of looking forward to getting these in mars attacks plastic. From the sound of it the general quality of it is even better than my set, and its easier to clean than restic so far.
Well, my stuff decided to show up. I don't think I'm missing anything, but I haven't taken too close of a look yet. Seems like the packing was handled much better this time around.
I'm very pleased with how the new restic mix turned out. Details seem much better and the mold lines are much more under control. I opened up my Asterian booster bundle to just check 'em out and they actually look pretty good.
I'm surprised though that nobody's posted a single painted miniature yet! I need to correct that!
These two were test figures.
The zombie was made using the new Deadzone legs and head and a fantasy torso, just to see how well they mesh, since Mantic had expressly pointed out that they were making them compatible. I can safely say that they are fully compatible and the parts do mesh very well together. This guy even looks pretty good with my other Z-Corps kitbashes.
Interesting Asterian scheme. Simple but I like it! Zombies mesh with Z-corp nicely which a few of us plan to do iirc.

I wonder about the DBX spiders ability to be a not-Necron Spyder. Really happy about the full set of prones and guards though. Can't remember on the plastic grim.
As someone who had to severely curtail spending on my wave 2 shipment that is excellent news not to hear, thanks Ed. I am still unsure whether the manufacturers can deal with the sharp lines and detail that the plastic Forge Guard and Enforcers require, but at least Mantic have been a lot better with their quality control thus far.
This just came up in an update on the Basius Basing Pads kickstarter, if anyone is familiar with how awesome they are. Their contract with the original manufacturer has expired, so they're running a new project soon with new designs and updated old ones, with a new partner:
So that base is cool. I kind of like the display quality of it blending into the ground instead of having edges. A neat way to class up a tabletop mini, though I'd be concerned about them for display pieces since you'll have to move the model by picking it up rather than it's base.
Cool, but I'm still in the clear acrylix fo lyfe yo! camp.
I dunno, I may be able to dredge some more cash up to get some additional hard plastic sprues if given the option.

That's just a print of the entire potential surface, which is 15cm wide - the pad that makes that demo image looks like this except grey, and you put greenstuff or putty on your base and press it into the pad, I've used one for all my Plague and Marauders that are in the photos thread

Are those the things you're supposed to squash down over a pile of green stuff to make textured bases?
No, that's really not going to be cheaper as soon as you need them in any significant quantity.
Additionally, this allows for much more varied designs (most resin base lines have 5-8 25mm designs, 3-5 40mm, 2 60 mm and a single 120 oval, for example), while varying where you push your greenstuff into the mold helps a bunch with creating more varied bases with this method.
Also, as soon as you get into less 'standard' base sizes, you'd be SOL with ready-made resin bases.
Since you seem to know a fair bit about them, Bolognesus, can you recall how much they typically run? I would almost consider one to use to make texture for fantasy movement trays (think KoW multibases here) but it would really depend on the cost. I realize I could just google it but then what fun would that be for any of us?
IIRC they run around 20-25 quid (not about to spoil the fun by googling either ), but intl shipping is a pain (they're heavy!).
They should be big enough for most KoW multibases (I think a 5x4x25mm regiment should just about fit. They clock in at 18cm dia and a 100x125mm reg should need 16cm dia minimum (yay math). Unless you're basing hordes in one go you should be fine.
One potential issue though: you're going to require a *lot* of pressure to press that in one go - I'm not comfortable assuming that's doable in one go without a hydraulic press You could of course massage several balls of GS into the mold before pressing the base onto that and you'll be fine - same thing as with 120mm oval bases, I would think.

Fair enough. I guess I'm just dubious on anything that asks for that amount of expensive putty/greenstuff, plus the need to "make it" yourself. Costing almost 50 bucks on top of that, you may be able to see where my caution comes from. I'd like to really see a lot of finished products from something like that (as in something that a hobbyist has done - based an army, etc) before being willing to go there.
Azazelx wrote: If you've got experience with these things, how many bases would you say that 36" of GS gets/makes you?
If you get the greenstuff that is long and flat like this http://www.bitzbox.co.uk/images/greenstuff.jpg then 1cm makes a 20mm round base with a fairly flat pattern like a floor with room to spare, so that 36" strip should make 90 small bases for you, or 45 40mm bases, and to date those are the largest I've made. You need slightly more to make more elevated/3D stuff like the mountain peaks pad.
I added up the cost of all the MAS, BAS and SW bases I thought I would need for Deadzone and 40k before backing, and even forgetting I could want more than just those numbers in future the pads turned out cheaper, though I had very few minis based already, not as much value for someone who already has most of their armies based. How good they turn out depends on your own artistic skills more than premade resin bases though
My friend has been using one of these thingymebobs for a while and I was thinking about getting one myself if I wasn't trying to convince myself to go the clear acrylic route.
The only reason I didn't go in for these was the int'l shipping, heavy fethers. I'm also torn on clear acrylic basing - all my Deadzone will be, but unsure about other ranges. I think it looks great but... basing is fun too...
I've been assembling my Forge Father Brokkrs and engineers today and I'd like to add to what many others have been saying, the restic has actually massively improved now. There's minimal flash and moldlines now.
Only downside is, they still feel kinda 'tough' to deal with, so it's worth getting a new knifeblade before having a go.
In saying that, after doing all this praise, I've found my first missing part.
No
1 Resin Plastic Inferno Drill with Brokkr Engineer
In the Forge Father booster bundle.
Conveniently, on the Kickstarter comments, this was posted on mantics forums:
""The Inferno Drill has unfortunately been missed out of the Booster Bundle. We're sorry for the error, we'll make sure they're all sent out in the third shipment.""
Restic can be done right. My relic Knights were fantastic with very minimal and easy to remove mould lines. I still would only use it for skirmish games but it can be done right.
Mantic responded to my missing item form pretty quickly and pleasantly, about a week later and the missing figure arrived- credit where it is due. I should be all caught up now except for the wave 3 plastics.
For their own sake I hope they can continue to improve their shipping and quality assurance, the $$$ spent on shipping out missing or incorrect items must have been very high.
If they'd just send my durn stuff it would be unboxed... I love doing day 1/ early unboxings, but i never seem to get my stuff first or even close to it
Rough and ready test piece for my scheme - face is a bit rough as I painted it in a golden yellow first, didn't like it so went over it with a bright blue, then changed my mind and went over it again with silver. There's not really enough detail on the areas to matter, but the finish is a bit rough. Nice and quick as well, as all the models are undercoated in silver already.
Just finished the Infinity model that was on my desk as well, so looks like I can batch my way through the other 26 Asterians in the next few weeks.
overtyrant wrote: Restic can be done right. My relic Knights were fantastic with very minimal and easy to remove mould lines. I still would only use it for skirmish games but it can be done right.
The original pre-KS undead cavalry seemed to be pretty good, and those were in Restic.
Yup, already done. I just don't want people coming to assembling their models 6 months from now to find the same issue, only to find that Mantic have dropped the mold or something.

Really? Mine were horrendous, worse than anything in my KOW or DZ shipments.
Here's a picture of my assembled Forge Father heavies. - The Urban Pattern Iron Ancestor as well as the nasty death cannon (see, I remembered its name! )
Some tips, it's worth pinning the torso on the Iron Ancestor. - Also trimming it's backplate. I dunno if it's just me, but the left leg sat a bit funny, maybe should have tried some hot water reshaping on the left foot.
For the Attack-ey Death Cannon, it's in 3 different materials, metal, restic and a resin front plate. Looking at the picture there, I could do with straightening out the metal a bit.
As both these models come with the standard restic bits used for their other weapons, a clever person could quite easily magnetise and/or pin the alternate parts to them.

Hmm, like a pound of milliput yellow/grey and milliput fine grey is $7.99 at Hobby Lobby here in the USA - seems like after about a dozen bases you'd be saving versus buying premade resin bases. and I have a TON of premade resin bases :(
While assembling my Enforcer Booster Bundle, was starting to get into a huff over missing component sprue for the bag of Enforcer specialists/leaders (So had Captain's arms/torso/cape, but no heads, sniper foot/body/rifle, but no supporting arm, etc), but then after checking the Mission Control it appears that this was never supposed to be in there in the first place, and instead it was just supposed to be the two Medics and a quartet of Defender parts for converting regular Enforcers (Which I did get and had everything)
Also, had a boatload of extra bases; 16 25mm, and 10 40mm. I think the 40mm might have been due to a mixup with a missing parts form, since I already had the missing 40mm bases for Wave 1 sent to me.
Anyone else have weirdness like this with extra parts?
Almost all of my booster bundles had extras. Extra plague and extra marauders for sure. Not as sure about rebs, and I haven't gotten my wave 2 to know about enforcers. But I think I've got extra big plague dude and marauder captain cause to give you the extra specialists in the booster bundles it seems like they just gave you the bag those came in

It is supposed to include 1 'Enforcer Specialist Booster' specifically including the missile launcher (which, admittedly, may be overruled by the plastic set), an engineer, 2 Sentry Guns and a complete Sniper. - According to whats advertised on the Kickstarter.
So, sure, I could see the argument for you not receiving the extra parts for the captain, but still you should be entitled to a complete sniper.
I've just opened up one of my 2 enforcer booster bundles and after having a quick look, it seems that I do have a complete set. - A complete Peacekeeper Captain, Sniper, Missile Launcher, Assault Enforcer, 2 sentry guns and an Engineer. The small bag with all the arms and things was inside the "DZ Enforcers" bag.
The other booster bag seems complete too, though I haven't opened it.
This reminds me, I still have to use these LEDs and batteries and gak I got a while ago. The giant stompy robots are perfect for it, but maybe the translucent martians could have it worked into their base somehow... just for funsies.
Counting down the days... We’re counting down the days to when we start shipping with a whole bunch of goodies you won’t yet have seen. First up:
The Masters of Science!
It's impossible to photograph these without making them this awesome. These translucent green plastic Science Division were a Kickstarter Exclusive offering. One figure was included free in pledge of The Will of Man ($100 and Early Bird) and up, whilst the set was available as a Core Add-on. We'll be back tomorrow with a new update. Let us know what you’re looking forward to seeing most!
Man, my two packages together only weighted about 4kg. max. You guys went nuts on round 2. Though, somehow I wound up pledging enough to wind up with a compendium. I didn't even know I'd spent that much.
Anyone else get weirdly colored resin in their orders? My female Enforcer scout wound up being partially clear blue.
I also wound up with a bunch of medium sized bases. They're probably around 40mm or so. What are these for? I checked all of my bags, and everything seem to already have a base with it, so I'm confused about what I'm supposed to do with those larger bases.
I just got my retail Forge Father order from the website. Got a little note about the Forge Guard and thats fine. The restic looks a TON better this go round.
Hopefully nothing is missing, can't check it too well right now as I'm at work (got it shipped to my office) but it looks good from the quick look I got.
I had gotten a notice but it was shipped Fedex International Priority - but did not pay for courier shipping. I believe it automatically got bumped because of the size/weight, as Fedex at this size is an order of magnitude cheaper than normal postal carriers.
Ahh OK rest if the week then good to hear. Means I can fret about getting to see my SciFi battle systems before the fantasy KS closes this week, then fret about Dz next week.
I got my 6.6kg Deadzone box yesterday. I haven't checked too closely, but it looks like everything is there. The bast part about wave 2: bundles are packed together in one bag and labeled.
DZ package came today (at home with sick baby) and it would have been here sooner if the knobs at Mantic had put the correct zip on the shipping label; usual Mantic experience for me thus far and I haven't even opened the box yet.
I'll get it Friday night.
But I'll be going out with friends.
So I can open it and look in the box on Saturday.
Unless I have a game on.
And Sunday-Monday I need to write reports.
Because I have an all-day meeting at work on Tuesday that the reports need to be completed for..
So my initial pledge level was in the $500+ range because I wanted all the cool goodies, then with the second survey I added another $360, so I doubt that I will see my stuff anytime soon. Last year my package arrived in November.
I anticipate my shipment to be relatively light. Kind of. I think I got the new 'extra shapes' battlezone, (anyone got that and taken pictures yet?) and my two ruins sprues from the first survey, 90 zombies, and a starter+bundle for the expanded universe factions. Oh and 6 striders. So... quasi-modest box, surely.

you can click the link on mission control for sprue pics of the new scenery sprues. I've already desprued/rebagged all of mine so I can't take larger ones but if you need pics of specific bits or anythig, holler

Seems crazy that they shipped it yesterday and it'll be here this morning.
I did the same for the Mantis case kickstarter. 18 cases will be showing up at some stage, should be fun haha. Your group would have managed some decent savings by ensuring they get strike teams and bogofs to split rather than buying individual faction starters.
--- Glad I went in for a few of each of these, should be fun to play and paint ; ) WTB giant mutated mantics though. My pet Mantis can ride his slave giant ant to battle though I guess.
Hot on the heels of the Masters of Science released yesterday is today’s newest preview! So here we go – a few weeks ago we showed off the Giant Mutant Ant…

Actually, that's my cut. Everyone ordered what they wanted and then I fit it together using bogofs and such. So any extra goes towards my cut (I put in 262 on second survey after discounts).
Your wish is my command. Only available for Deadzone right? As it's the most complex iirc. No shipping notice for any Mantic stuff for me lately -_-. Ahh well, absence makes the heart grow bitter and jealous.
Those are probably master bugs. Here's hoping the production ones come out well. I was content to trust as I really do think Mantic has improved steadily in a lot of respects but can deffo see why you wouldn't still.
--- Yay mine has shipped, though an inferior 8kgs. Deffo picking up some more peacekeeprs for wave 3. Prolly some other stuff too -_-
Good news folks - all of the Deadzone Wave 2 Order have been picked!
The vast majority have now been shipped, but we’ve some last orders that need to be booked for courier shipping.
Spoiler:
Some of the remaining orders. These are really heavy items that are sent by courier, and they take a little time to log in to the system.
This will take a couple of days to complete – but that means we should be finished by Friday –and the great news is that they arrive the next working day so we are really nearly there!
As we near the end of shipping, all of the reports we’ve seen have been mostly positive on how much better the quality of the miniatures and how much better the packing of orders have been. In context, few packages have had anything reported as being missing, which is fantastic!
One item that has been brought to our attention as missing is the Inferno Drill and Brokkr Engineer from the Forge Father Booster Bundle. Unfortunately this item was indeed mis-packed. Anyone who is owed one will receive it as part of their final shipment. Please do not fill out the missing bits form if you've not received one of these in your Booster Bundle.
Some people who have paid for courier shipping may have also got dispatch emails from the courier (usually UPS or Fedex) as well as a Royal Mail dispatch email. Please ignore the Royal Mail email, it was sent in error.
Third Shipment Update
Below is a photo of the first test shot from the Forge Guard mold. As you can see, we’ve highlighted some of the pitting and details that needed fixing.
We’ve delayed the models so that we can improve the quality of them. However, you can also see how sharp the rest of the components are. With the work that’s going into the three sprues, October looks increasingly unlikely as the delivery date, with November looking much more realistic. This means that we’ve time for a third Deadzone survey if you want a final chance of getting stuff from the Deadzone Kickstarter!
Third Survey
A third survey gives you a chance to get some of the items you might not have been able to pick up before, and a final opportunity to make use of some of the silly Kickstarter prices, like Enforcers in Peacekeeper armour for just $10! They will not be this price after this survey closes!!!
Not everything was shown off before we closed the last survey. The Asterians and Forge Fathers were concept art for example, so now you’ve seen all the photos, you might want to dip back in and pick some up.
Similarly, you will be able to get extra mats if you’ve been dying to try out a multi-mat game since reading Deadzone: Incursion, or play with the A.I. rules from Contagion with a set of Plague Zombies and the A.I. Deck.
And the icing on the cake - everything will ship post free!
The Third Survey will be released on the 22nd September and will close on the 5th October, giving you two weeks to fill your boots with as much Deadzone as you can handle.
This will give us time to tick off your paypal requests, process your orders and add them to your third shipment.
And finally...
The time has come again where hobbyists from the 4 corners of the globe converge on Nottingham for a day of complete and total hobby madness.
Yes the Mantic Open Day returns on the 29th November at our Nottingham HQ.
We'll have loads of learn-to-play events, a DreadBall Tournament, and big Mars Attacks and Kings of War games, plus all of the latest previews and sneak peaks from the studio and the seminars with Ronnie.
You can read more about what is going on here, and you fancy coming to see us for a day of gaming (maybe even bring your strike force with us to show off!) then pop along to Notts and see us. We've got a very low-priced single ticket, a discounted family/group ticket for four people and then a separate ticket for tournament entry. Each ticket also includes a goodie bag full of lovely stuff.
Sounds like dz wave 2 may well beat battle systems arriving to my door. And I'm sure some folks will be thrilled to see a third survey especially after we've gotten to see a lot more production shots now.
Deadzone wave 2 is going to beat Robotech wave 1, which was originally supposed to be a single shipment, to my door, so even with an unexpected 3rd wave Mantic are gaking all over Palladium on meeting expectations.
My wife looks at the table. "We're gonna need to clean off some more shelves."
Automatically Appended Next Post: Anyone else have issues with the Asterian Booster Bundle? Mine has two little bags of dudes in it and the specialist booster. No jetbikes at all. I think they put two starter bags in instead of two faction booster bags.
Automatically Appended Next Post: It also appears I did not get my free compendium (which I was promised in KS message) or the two special edition miniatures (which scarletsquig predicted).
Automatically Appended Next Post: I have most of an extra marauder booster bundle though.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Missing bits form submitted!
Holy crap! I'm surprised you could find anything in that pile o stuff lol

Yeah I got these gratis from Mantic- $55 of credit . I hope I get some decent casts though. Some of my scenery from the World Cup discount offer came all warped (mainly on the fortifications sprue). Not too bothered about it though as I'm sure I'll find a use for it elsewhere.
Vermonter wrote: Just got my shipping notice. Didn't think I was getting enough to qualify for courier shipping as I hardly added any battlezones, but courier it is.
Is anyone here getting the dead figures? I'd be curious to see pics of them, as Mantic mission control doesn't have any.
Unless I'm mistaken, the dead figures are shown in that photo of the Giant Mutant Ant/Spider
Warped tiles? Was it shipped in a tight box or excessively hot or anything? Jeez, I have... maybe... 12 battlezones... or more? worth of terrain, the only problems I've had is a couple pieces having popped off at some point during transit/being manhandled by my ponderous hamfists.
angelofvengeance wrote: Holy crap! I'm surprised you could find anything in that pile o stuff lol

I do a lot of swapping in the SS and Bartertown, so I'm getting really good at sorting stuff. As for the pile, I packed up the boxes for each person who ordered with me and now I'm good to go. I think mine was only about $400 all told (between both surveys).
Pleased they're going with a 3rd survey, ~$60 for an entire Peacekeeper/proxy Terminator army I only just resisted at survey 2 (in favour of more battlezones) sounds like a goer this time round !
And I thought the packing was bad on Wave 1. Brace for impact, here's my missing parts list.
Enforcer Booster Bundle
3 Striders
Iron Ancestor
Pathfinder on Bike
Stuntbot
Enforcer wit Thermal Rifle
Plague Enforcer
Sorak Swordspawn
Metal Marauder Upgrade Pack
Any and all bases outside the starter/boosters
Also everything they still owed me from wave 1:
Boomer
Helfather
3 Marauder Pyros
Chovar
And the cheeky devil marked off everything on the order form...
Did you have a tracking number? A Shipment can have multiple Packages, each with their own Tracking. However, one Tracking for a single Package from a Shipment can reference the entire Shipment, and all Packages can be viewed. At least, that's how UPS works.
The packer was ultra clumsy. They put the UPS label on the wrong box, clumsily hacked it out and then glued the resulting bit of cardboard with the label on it to the new box...
I'm going to be waiting for the order form inside the box, because I accidentally deleted my receipt email from google docs and can't remember exactly what I ordered
Are all the new metal troopers on Mantic's HQ thingee? I can't access it at work, and was debating about picking up a few based on how the figures turned out.

That might suggest UPS trashed the original box (and some of the contents) and stuffed all the bits they could find into a new one.....
it might not be Mantics fault (although they'll be the ones who have to fix it) so I'd offer to send them a pic of the box)

That sounds like a UPS repack. We ship hundreds of packages via UPS from my work's shipping department each day and UPS loves to try to repack instead of admitting any sort of fault when a forklift drives over a package.
Do you have pics of the box/packaging?
We had a parcel from out work sent across to belgium I think it should have contained a few hundred items. Unfortunately when it arrive it contained five, the box had been riped open and resealed, badly. It took several phone calls and photos to prove to ups something was wrong. Eventually they said that it had been run over by a forklift and repacked by staff. The rest of the cards were found eventually in unclaimed goods where a staff member found them in the staff room. This was not an isolated event unfortunately :(
sukura636 wrote: @NTR You could email stewart for a reminder. He did so for me.
I might do that, thanks, and get my Mars Attacks! one while I'm at it
Sucks to hear about UPS doing that to your package lord_blackfang, I've been tracking mine and it just landed in Melbourne, shuld have it by tomorrow. Hopefully the triple stamps showing from Dubai are just something innocuous like a system error.
Well, I was pleasantly surprised this afternoon to find a box from Mantic on my doorstep. Curious as to what it was (I only just got my missing parts order in two days ago), cracked it open to find I had been packaged and shipped a second Wave 2 box, with everything I had in the box last week (No missing Enforcer parts! Didn't check the remainder because of gift horses and mouths and such).
Needless to say, I'm not worried about my missing parts any more

Indeed I did get Deadzone corpses. There's four in the set, Reb, Enforcer, Plague 3rd Gen, and a Marauder. I wasn't sure which of the metal figs I got to start on, so I suppose I can start on them. Details on them are all very good. In fact, all of the metals I got looked really good. The only odd thing with the set is that three of the four coprses are designed to lay on the ground a certain way, so each has a side that's completely flat. The Enforcer is the only one that isn't like that. It's kind of odd.

No moral quandaries at all there then, and obviously no qualms about posting on a forum to tell everyone you have no moral quandaries!

I took a pic of the cut and re-attached label as a "character witness" for the clumsy packer, as I feared Mantic might find the amount of missing stuff incredulous. I didn't take a pic of the whole box though.
Having dared to visit the Kickstarter comments for Deadzone it does seem like there are a fair few people that got double deliveries and more with missing parts. Mantic really need to sort a dedicated customer service person to deal with just the KS enquiries when they enter the delivery stage of their Kickstarters, even if they just get a temporary worker to do it/cover elsewhere.
Sounds like a fair number of folks are having issues. All I'm missing now is that Accessory Sprue 2(I want that servo arm thing) and the plastic Enforcers.
Same here CptJake. I think I may have gotten more stuff than I'm really thinking though so I'm hoping I just happened to get a courier upgrade and I'll see a notice today/tomorrow. Or that it's been shipped royal mail with no notice and will come in soon.
Nothing here either. Kinda hoping it would arrive yesterday on my birthday, but nada. On the plus side I got a birthday cards which plays the game of Thrones intro.
At this rate I'm fearful that I'm gonna have either a late battle systems box crushing an 'on-time' deadzone box, or vice versa.
I think I'll be ok if Mars Attacks ships a little later than projected too, just so I don't get buried in toys and get the patented 'frowny wife face' sent my direction.
CptJake wrote: I still haven't gotten a shipping notice, let alone the package.
And I don't really have that big an order coming compared to some of what you guys have gotten.
I got a notice of courier shipping (which I didn't pay for) yesterday, and my shipment is smaller than any of the ones posted here so far. So it's definitely possible that you guys will be hearing from them.

I imagine it's loads of mither sending stuff back.
I'd let them know I'd received a double order. If they wanted it back they could pay for shipping and arrange collection for when it suits me.
I did a brief scan of the KS comments (main and for the last update) and it seems there are a few folks getting the hard cover book with scratches and dents from poor packing. That scares me as I added that book to my order. You would think it wouldn't be too difficult to pack those decently, knowing they are kind of a special add on/reward.

So Mantic already contacted me to provide a full missing parts list. They agree that UPS flubbed it up. Props to them for being proactive, and, if someone here alerted them to my situation, thank you. Hopefully I get the rest of my stuff soon.

Hmm... my buddy ordered the hardcover and it was encased in several sheets of cardboard taped sealed, then put in a box. It was nice and minty.
Even my "veteran's edition" slipcase was double packed (in it's own packaging/box put inside the main box)

That is great to hear. I hope mine when it shows up) is packed like that. The book is the thing I am most excited about.
I don't think we were supposed to get a compendium.
Nope, we were promised a digital copy as part of the KS
Spoiler:
$600,000 – Deadzone Compendium: The Ultimate Gamer’s Guide
If we hit this goal, we’ll write, layout and print this kickass soft cover book – the Ultimate Guide to Deadzone!
This mighty tome contains:
- The complete Nexus Psi Campaign: all 6 Narrative Scenarios, including the Recon Unit extraction, the hunt for Simmonds and the Trapped DreadBall MVP Missions - plus an additional scenario for every 500 Backers we get (and we’re now less than 100 backers from the next one!)
- Detailed Assembly Guides for your miniatures and scenery
- Detailed Painting Guides for your miniatures and scenery
- Faction Strategy Guides
- Hobby Gallery of Scenery and Miniatures
- PLUS all rules expansions funded as part of this campaign – we’re aiming for Solo play, “Zombie” Rules and large skirmish games played on multiple boards!
If we hit this goal we’ll include a digital copy of this must-have book into every pledge!!
Damn, you're right - I just checked the Strike pledge contents, and it's digital only. Well, they probably should have made them purchasable via PM - but at least I've got the basic rules to give away...
Bomster wrote: Damn, you're right - I just checked the Strike pledge contents, and it's digital only. Well, they probably should have made them purchasable via PM - but at least I've got the basic rules to give away...
They were purchaseable.
I believe it was $10 for the Compendium and $40 for the Hardcover. Free with $300 (normal compendium) pledge and free with $750 (hardcover) pledge.
Yeah, my Veteran's slipcase came with Nexus Psi, Incursion, and Contagion, and a thick piece of cardboard; all shrinkwrapped together. You slide out the cardboard and put in the Deadzone rulebook. It looks real snazzy on my shelf.
Details on the third survey are a bit vague but it looks like it will be more than just the wave 3 plastics, Asterians and Forgefathers will be in there. we'll see on Monday anyway. I might pick up the Asterian and FF boosters I passed on and hopefully the enforcer sprues are available separately.

I am very, very happy with my buy-two-for-$50-faction-starters (got Asterian and Forge Father starter) and the buy-one-$50-big-booster-bundle-get-one-free (for the Asterians and Forge Fathers). Basically for $100 I got a giant gob of really cool minis and there's still the Forge Guard sprue from the starter and the Forge Guard sprue from the Booster Bundle coming. If they still have those deals in wave 3, I cannot recommend highly enough dropping the $100 to get the Asterian and FF starters and booster bundles.
I was thinking along the same line as judge doug, just not sure which factions I want to go with. I don't have any Asterians yet, and I think when all is said and done I'll be good on Enforcers (the starter options and extra boosters as well), plus enough Peacekeeper suits to deck out just about every figure already in the unit.
I might grab the hardcover if it's on offer again as well, as nice as the slipcase is with all the matching spines.
I just wish the slipcase had space for the zombie campaign stuff, as I can't seem to jam it in between the other books.
Regarding the rules, I'm pretty sure I did not pay for any and I got a shrink-wrapped set of Nexus Psi + Incursion + Contagion. This in addition to the "Compendium" which is the same 3 things in a cardboard slipcase that I got for pledging $300+.

Wait. I got the shrink wrapped thing, which I thought was the compendium I paid $10 for in the survey. Are you saying there is a different one?
edit: Oh, that's the pledge higher one. I can totally read.
Deadzone Veteran Edition (Compendium) Books Finished and in warehouse Arrived Deadzone Veteran Reward for pledge total over $300: Deadzone Nexus Psi, Deadzone: Incursion and Deadzone: Contagion in an exclusive Slipcase.
So yeah, you got the 'pay $10 and get a compendium one' plus the free for over $300 one.
Automatically Appended Next Post: Out of curiosity, what's the turnaround time for the missing bits submission to get an answer?
Nope, no shipping notice here either (yet). My order probably clocks in at only 3 or 4 lbs. Nothing major, so not sure if it's a case that a ship notice never got sent.
pretre wrote: Out of curiosity, what's the turnaround time for the missing bits submission to get an answer?
They're sending my stuff tomorrow, but I might be getting preferential treatment due to the scope of the snafu. With wave 1, the missing bits just turned up one day with no advance warning, I'm guessing 3-4 weeks after I submitted the form.
There might be some more text floating along out there still to come along. - The back of the Hardback book had a few pages of designers notes at the back, for example.
They said you would send a notification of shipment with Royal Mail, but no tracking number. Mantic does not have the greatest email track record as we've seen.
Triple9 wrote: They said you would send a notification of shipment with Royal Mail, but no tracking number. Mantic does not have the greatest email track record as we've seen.
To be fair, they were actively blacklisted from gmail for a while. I went through hell to get my payment requests from Mantic to a) appear at all in my gmail, and now their emails b) go immediately to spam, despite me marking every mantic email as "safe".
I'll have to go back and check my order though. While not pretre levels of crazy, 21lbs is still pretty hefty and I really don't recall having that much. We'll see Monday!
Me either. Supposedly even royal mail was supposed to get a ship notice, guess they're saving me for dead-last. Or I got forgotten again. Though that time I did get a ship notice, it was just erroneous.
And just so I'm not only whining about shipping, here's the images from the mars attacks update 101 today:
The Saucer and a couple of patriots, one with the military upgrades. Also dead martians.
The Patriot Silverback, looks like it's been painted like a tow-truck or what have you.
Novas Vira with Sonic weapon
Science division.
They'll be back monday with the next update, and there will be a shipping update next week as the first packages go out.
Huh 14.7 pound package, finally got email to load. Seems like more than I was expecting but there are 90 zombies and some terrain.
And the ship notice even says picked up so its not a fake one like the two I got wave 1.
BTW new dz is update says small DZ is is next. Veermyn and extra units for factions, maybe some hard plastic and more bzs. Intended for lower buy in but we saw DS...
We are wondering whether revisiting Deadzone later in the year would be popular. We think it could be!
By revisiting Deadzone, it would give us a chance to do the Veer-myn in a skirmish setting, and also add to the first 6 factions – making sure each one has some hard plastic basic troops - which would help with you-know-what ☺
Original Warpath Veer-myn Nightmare Concept Art
And because this would be an expansion kickstarter it will be just an update set, not a game itself, so it should not be too heavy on the wallet – unless it goes crazy again, but that is in your hands not mine!
I think this will be the next kickstarter so we can get on with tooling the hard plastics and Veer-myn asap. I would hope we could have some Alpha rules for Warpath out during this KS too, so you can get out your existing models and have a try of the wargame.
We will also do a quick play Deadzone guide – and in a year’s time when it ships we could put out an updated rulebook with stats and info for every faction, plus any errata and other areas that need clarification. We could also get a few more scenery sprues done to add to the Battlezones and just add more to that.
So if this gets you excited let’s have your ideas for new units you would like to see for the existing factions (and ones that would work well in both the skirmish and wargame setting would be even better) and also send us ideas for what you’d like to see on the terrain. We have a great back-story that is all about the Veer-myn outbreak on a dying mining planet and the large local Space Station, but terrain ideas would be fantastic.
What is the range missing? What could it do with more of? Let us know in the comments!
Nice, that's a pretty good sized package. Guessing I'll probably be pinging Stewart Monday morning. My guess for the 72 hour discaimer is to reduce the weekend mail .
For those who said they liked the Mawbeast bomber body but hated the mechanomouth, the new metal Mawbeast is for you - instead of the KoW Mawbeast pictured in the survey, we got a brand new sculpt which is the DZ style creature with a normal organic mouth.
Also, got mine today, Bitey couldn't wait to open it
Spoiler:
My only regret is earlier making fun of someone who it turns out probably received less than I did
Well, if they're making things available now that we've had a chance to see some things that hit in 2, I hope striders are available. I gotta get a bunch more. I need 7. I can handle 8.
If Dungeon Saga is an indication of a "small" Mantic kickstarter, than I truly cannot wait to see what they do with this Deadzone expansion.
I would imagine they'd offer a pledge with the base game as well.
Hell, if this funds crazy enough, which it probably will, despite what they say about it being an expansion, I can see this becoming a whole separate play out of the box set with veer myn or some other new factions.
I liked the idea of getting a Plague mutation sprue. That'd be fun to play around with.
Who are they trying to kid? With the hard plastic for Zombies out and Enforcers/Forgefathers on the way, and the quality purportedly excellent, of course Deadzone 2: Rise of the Hard Plastic is going to 'go crazy'!
Getting HP troops done would also allow them to focus on tanks and fun stuff when Warpath hits.
Yeah, I'm doing it based on reports starting to come in, such as the ones above as well as my own personal experience. How long would you expect people to "wait and see" for? Until it's all over?
That's two. Out of 4,306 backers, plus how ever many mantic allowed to pledge after it ended. Given a few other have complained on here and on the main forum let's be generous and say 20, which would make 0.46%
Yes that's an assumption, but given many people come onto forums to complain and it's generally the same people here, on the official forums and on the KS comments I think we can be fairly accurate and say that while errors happen, they're very much in the minority.
I tend to stay out of bashing or supporting companies on forums, but Azazel for more than a few pages know you've been going on as if your's is the only opinion which counts. Please get some perspective.
They have a history of fething up orders, including almost every package they've ever sent me. Ronnie has come out and publicly apologised for their endless errors, and they've said that they'll try and do better in the future. I have no interest in tracking down how many individual people complain, since I'm sure they don't all post on forums the way some of us do. Now, given their history, their admittance of it being a continuing issue, and the fact that reports are coming out with more mistakes, I think my own opinion and perspective is pretty good. I see no actual benefit in people telling me to shut up and "wait and see". If I want to be cynical I'll fething well be cynical. You can be as hopeful and positive as you like, as long as you don't try and tell me that I can't be cynical.
And more than a few pages? Really? You mean the previous two posts where I said such harsh things as this?:
Azazelx wrote: Good to see that Mantic's packing QA is as good as ever. Perhaps I won't be closing the book on this KS in Sept-Oct, but Nov-Dec as I work with them (and their response delays) in order to get everything sorted out...
/sigh
Yeah, perhaps is such a strong and negative word. Such a harsh and negative post.
I've been going on as though mine is the only opinion that counts? For more than a few pages? Really? Press the "filter thread" button on my profile to see just how full of gak that statement of yours is. - note to mods - if someone talks clear bs about what I've said, I'll call it out.
Really though, feel free to chuck me on ignore then since I disagree with you. I don't really care. I put morons on ignore all the time.
And hey, would you look at that? My order arrived, and it's missing stuff. Still going through it, and I don't relish the thought of QAing all these little unlabelled baggies of garbage restic, but the order is missing the three rulebooks - Nexus Psi, Contagion and Incursion. So much for your self-important bs of "Wait and see" - not to mention your other bs.
Maybe I should just set fire to these baggies of unlabelled restic and put it on youtube instead. Even the packing slip is fething useless when it comes to trying to work out what's inside.
That stuff for the newer items looks like exactly what I'm after. Unfortunately, this is wave 1/stike team stuff - and this is what I received - with useful information like Plastic Miniatures - 'Extra 1 Marauders' x2 on the packing sheet.
Other stuff, like the 50+ 40mm bases were just thrown into the large (10kg) shipping box and were scattered wherever. Not even in a zip-lock bag.
While I might come across as angry in a lot of posts, in general I'm just tired, blunt, mildly pissed off, or a bit annoyed with things/other posters/etc, and I forget about it right after posting. This time, I'm actually angry. The missing rulebooks are much more important to me than piles of their restic garbage. Not getting those - with no chance of them arriving while I'm on my short break from work, and getting that pile of gak that I need to inventory in terms of baggies and then what's inside those baggies (because Mantic's QC is renowned for being so poor) has really set my morning off quite badly.
I know it's not quite the same but you do have access to the digital versions of those, right? At least that'll get you playig, even if it's far from ideal.
In practice, I'm so fethed off with the whole thing that I might just toss (figuratively or even literally) all the Deadzone stuff into a corner and do something else with my time off work instead.
Mine were, and I didn't even have that large of shipment this time around. Totally could have fit them in the first box.
My order slip (that I got after the fact) said I would receive one box. I got two.
Who knows? Sorry they bungled your order. Then again, they did mine too, but from the sound of things, I'm not the only one missing their Brokkrs and mining laser...
Incidentally, my missing battlezone/connectors are yet to show up, over a week since I was told they were sent*.
* To be fair, the email was a generic "we have sent 1 package" one, but I can't think what else it would be.
I'm very glad now I'm waiting on just 2 things from Mars Attacks (mat and terrain), 5 things from DBX (KS exclusives, S4 book, card deck and scenery pack) and 2 things from DKQ (hardback book and undead resin characters). I have no plans to add any 'wave 3' stuff onto my pledge for Deadzone.

Unlikely. It's a big-arse box, and while it was pretty full, it had plenty of room for three softcover rulebooks. Also, it got UPSed to me, so a second box with three books would have been expensive (and I certainly hope they UPS my missing books out!) and there's just no sign of them on the packing slip - so I've emailed Stewart rather than going to their missing items link. I'd even be good with them sending my books out immediately and any missing items with wave 3, since all the plastic sprues are here, and so anything else that has an issue will just be missing or miscast restic. (and I'll be using 40k figures for this game for the most part over restic.)
no probs. The wave 2 stuff is much better. I just assembled my wave 1 stuff by sitting down, putting STTNG on in the background and going one bag at a time
I understand the feelings of pain. I backed Deadzone, and bought a lot through the 1st survey. After the terrible experiences I've had with them regarding customer service, I'm done with them. Nothing I've seen shows me they've improved any since then. Just always time to race on to the next Kickstarter, and try to pick up the pieces from the previous ones.
Welp, I've gone through the pile I showed earlier, as well as the core box. Still to go through the Rebs and Marauders faction boxes or the stapled Enforcer and Forgefathers "starter" bags, but it's time for a break. Thanks again to Doug for that link.
So far I'm missing 2 figures, have 2 miscast components and a missing head - and the aforementioned 3 missing rulebooks. Yay, Mantic!
On a more positive note - the terrain looks good, the plastic zombies are a huge step up from the MAA, and comparable to their original Fantasy Zombies (though I think the Renedra Zombies are slightly finer in detail). Add-on dice seem a little cheap compared to my usual chessex ones, and I got a bad batch where the red-black dice, etc are mostly black (unlucky) - bet it turns out these are chessex(!). Rulebook is lovely, which just pisses me off more that my others aren't here, and the mouse-mats are very nice quality. Though with my MA stuff coming it turns out I didn't need to buy so many...
Any opinions on the acrylic counters? These card ones aren't the best, and they're all off-centre.
Starting to go through my wave two stuff and here are a few thoughts:
1. I like the labeled bags.
2. They really need to update the kickstarter mission control on their website because it lists things as pending that are in my box and doesn't have assembly instructions for everything.
3. Still missing stuff. It's not as terri-bad as Wave 1 but it also doesn't give me much hope for future dealings with Mantic if this is the best that they can do with as much money as they received.
4. Material still doesn't like my files; flash has a tendency to bend and flatten rather than tear free from the model.
Final thoughts (I know there are still a couple of things pending that I'll get within the next couple of months):
Mantic is a fledgling business that has taken to the crowd-sourcing platform of Kickstarter quite well. Unfortunately, they do not appear to have the professional capability to handle the amount of demand generated by their KSs. I know they aren't much different from other companies that have their roots in KS; however, unlike a number of these, Mantic didn't start this way. Mantic has actually lowered their standards and quality when I compare current releases to the initial, plastic undead line.
They seem more focused on releasing quantity rather than quality. It is for this reason that I will no longer take my business to them nor will I recommend my friends and acquaintances do so. It's unfortunate because they truly do have some good ideas but I can't be bothered to continually deal with missing merchandise and questionable quality from a business; I have the resources to pay for quality and I suppose I will take my business to those companies more willing to provide it.
I don't know about the rest of you, but I'm excited for another Deadzone expansion and the possibility of even more hard plastic stuff. This time around though, I'd like to see them add some new Corporate Marines to the mix to oppose the Veer-Myn.
With 3 boardgame plastic KS in a row chances are we'll get either that or hard plastic from here on? Pref. hard plastic of course since they seem to have improved the quality from their new supplier though still having some troubles.
There isn't a more expensive sci fi line out there that I like more than Mantic's, on the whole. (There are plenty I like bits and pieces of, though.) My personal taste.
I've been going through my box of stuff and am far from finished, although it's actually a relatively modest haul this time around. So far I've found one broken figure (the thin staff held by the Asterian commander.)
It's quite possible I'll turn up more missing / broken figures, but so far things are looking very, very good. The restic figures (bar a few Plague pinheads - I'm looking at you, mortar team) generally look excellent, if time consuming to clean as usual. (No worse than before, probably better in most cases, but having worked with this stuff since Wave 1 I'm no sucker and am not expecting a walk in the park. I am willing to put in the time to get good results, though, including heavily modding the very few figures I don't like. So I guess I am a sucker.)
I only got one metal figure - the Sorak Swordspawn - because I'd previously bought a metal Peacekeeper captain and had been disappointed with the casting quality. I'm happy to say that the Swordspawn looks really good; so much so that I may buy more metal character models if they reappear on the third survey at a reasonable price relative to retail. (That's the trick this time around. I don't imagine Mantic will sell many individual starters for $35 when they're easily had for $28 online, sometimes with shipping included, although the 2 for $50 deal remains good.)
I'm also very pleased with my resins: the Stuntbot, Rebs commander, and Plague 1st Gen. Very crisp, no flaws, and miracle of miracles, no small delicate bits snapped off during packing or transport!, unlike, say, my last delivery from Studio McVey. I was leaning towards just leaving my $1 pledge for DKQ at $1, since fantasy isn't my thing anyway, but now I think I'll have to pick up a couple of resins as I'm so impressed with these.
I got the hardback and slipcased Veteran's edition softcover books. None were packaged in an individual box, which would have been nice. All somehow came through without any crimping or other damage anyway.
Hard plastic terrain and zombies look excellent. Got the right number of sprues.
Pet peeves so far outside of the snapped Astarian commander's staff are minor. I remain slightly annoyed that figures driving vehicles (the Dwarf cyclists, the Strider pilots, Asterians are the exception) are tiny compared to their trooper counterparts; the average Forge Father, Plague 3rd Gen, etc., couldn't fit inside these vehicles. Remember how the Stormrage Veterans were small compared to the Steel Warriors? Well, the Veterans are burly brutes compared to the guy in the cycle. So's Freya, for that matter, who wears no armor like the cyclist but, excuse the downright hilarious pun, "dwarfs" him anyway. ha. Regardless, I still think the new FF minis, including the bike riders, are great models.
I'm sorry to hear that anyone's had a bad experience, and my good fortune is not a commentary on anyone else's hard luck. But for what it's worth, I'm very pleased with what I received, and feel like I got a tremendous deal out of this KS. No regrets. It'll probably take me about 2 more years to get all of this stuff assembled and painted, but I'm enough of a Veer-myn freak that I'll be signing on for the DZ 2 campaign anyway.

And, as if to make a fool out of me, the missing terrain bits turned up one day after I decided to complain.
So all in all it was just over 2 weeks from submitting the form to getting the parts, not too bad given it was done whilst wave 2 bundles were still going out.

What was required for the slipcased edition of the softcovers?
Mine arrived in melbourne a few days ago all in tact (in a box twice the size required, but never mind). Only thing missing is the enforcer pathfinders rifle from inside the bag! So not bad at all...
There is hope aus based people!
Azazelx wrote: What was required for the slipcased edition of the softcovers?
I'm pretty sure the slipcased softcovers were for pledging $300 or above during the campaign. I think there was originally going to be just one book, then they split the softcovers into three books + the slim zombie campaign insert (staple-bound), then they said they would do a slipcase for the three instead of making them one large book.
Anyhow, the slipcase wasn't a separate deal from the three books. If you qualified for the softcovers, you'll be getting the slipcase.
The slipcase itself is a nice way to keep them together, but it's fairly flimsy. So nothing to get too excited about.
The only thing I have left to inspect are the walkers, and so far in my large order I've not had a missing part or a miscast, closest is one broken and one bent to the point of snapping Goblin sniper rifle, for which I doubt I'm going to ask for replacements.
The other thing, in my Forge Father starter I seem to have received a regular Brokkr instead of a Brokkr with muspell rifle. Since there's no statistical difference, I'm debating whether or not I'll do anything about that either.

But that one does have the cool welding mask head.
Gone through all my mini bags now and it seems I'm missing a single brokkrs arm which I'll have to submit for.
I was hoping to see the other plastic sprues separately on the third survey, I could definitely do with another 5 or 6 enforcer sprues to make up an army.
With news of a new mini dz ks coming soon I really hope we get some corporation plastics along with a 3rd gen plague kit, they could really set the ground work for the warpath ks which I think will be pretty huge.
I think it's clever to get all the basic infantry out in plastic before a Warpath KS happens, that way that one can be all about vehicles (with the basic pledges being 'army deals' the same way that Kings of War did).
Considering not putting any money into the BS fantasy terrain at all (kept a pound in to get the pledge manager), since I know there's a wave 3 survey and potential DZ "mini" kickstarter coming this year.
I'm getting less and less concerned with volume, but any DZ KS is likely to have me going for 'one of everything+' like I did on the original.
