Last night I ran 3 gunwagons in a squadron.

Admittedly I had some luck, but lets just say they wrecked shop. I played at 1250, against a Nid list which was mostly fast choppy choppy, ravagers, lictors and a hive tyrant with a heavy shooting weapon and warp lance with 2 hive guards. I didn't win, but it was
KP, ended turn 5 and he had made a 6+ cover on his zoanthrope to win the game, as else i was going to table him.
I basically backed up while peppering his ravagers with rokkits and pouring the flash gitz where needed. However, when he eventually got close, I threw out the shoota boyz as a shield (as with a squadron he can wreck all 3 vehicles by scoring enough
HP's on the closest - the shoota gunwagon), unluckily he managed to swing the tyrannt and hive guard around them for a charge, but the shoota boyz ate the lictors and the hormagaunts? choppy horde unit.. So tying them up a turn.
He declared charge, I overwatched.... rokkits did nothing, whiffed, it was looking bad, gitz, AP2, overwatch got 7 hits.... I toasted those hive guard (denied
FNP that turn too), he then failed the charge range due to the lost guard and the turn after.... well lets just say I wasn't leaving that tyrannt there... as luckily a nob had survived and chopped out the lictors while keeping combat tied, so he only had gaunts (which couldn't hurt my vehicles).
I was rolling 6's like the devil, I mean during overwatch I was killing 2-4 dudes minimum. Admittedly the random
AP isn't always great and sometimes I fluffed, but when you roll that AP2 on the turn its really needed the game changes. I was on the defensive, backing up and then with a shoota boy speed bump I turned it around into a killing field, just mowing down his big hitters.
I then played 1250 tempest scions, 2
GK paladins with heavy incin, 4 taurax and 2 DSing teams, multimelta and a plasma, I turtled and bubble wrapped turn 1 for his
DS GKs, killed them then moved out the gunwagons (which I ran as 3 heavy instead of a squadron this game), the tankbusta's were MVP's, moving out and firing, they wrecked 2 of the taurax I believe before eating a load of fire (but was my mistake for disembarking, as I was going to charge something, but should have realised they had a high chance of just popping it anyway- which they did). The flash gitz also toasted a few units, took his plasma
DS which contained a prescience termie libbie down to almost nothing.
Overall they performed really well
imo. a 60 pt AV13,12,11?? Err or a BW at twice the cost? gunwagon everyday. I am going to take gunwagons all day long. they also have a
TL BS standard and the re-rolls were invaluable.
