Impressive. Most impressive.

Vader looks awesome. The year-end shots a great, too. Some cool little vignettes in there. Nice to see Hellboy and the Skywalkers in the owner's box. Still love the Zoat!

Woohoo! I love year end shots! Thanks for taking the time. You really did accomplish a lot, that's a huge amount finished. No worries that you didn't do what you originally planned, there is always next year. It's good to go with what interests you.

Congratulations on an excellent year of painting!

The array, ranges and scope of the minis themselves is awesome- but the arena itself is a very nice piece of work- very well done!

I won't do individual responses this time, but thank you all for the nice comments !

So with 2020 finished it's time to start 2021. I won't set big resolutions, as my main one is still to get the backlog done or at least down to like 20 models. If I don't buy too much it should be doable by summer, but we'll see, best laid plans and such

Gonna start the year with Space Marines and Rohan. Assault Marines should paint up fast, gonna do them with the blue armour to set them apart from the other five (and they got MK 3 helmets, best helmets evah!!!). Sgt. got the helmet from the Indomitus captain and a little conversion in his right arm. He now sports a Sororitas power sword and a little guard over the hand, because it is a lot smaller than the normal one

Also built all the Rohan models from the starter box and am really excited to try different colors on the horses. Hope to get the first six riders and Theoden done til the end of the month. Also threw Aragorn in for good measure and too lead my warriors of the dead (I believe it makes allying them to Rohan easier, but am not well up on the rules so far).

It’s been a while since I checked in but the toy arena sure turned out impressively! And that is a massive output for the year. You should be proud! I’m looking forward to seeing the Rohirrim get the love they deserve. I’ve always been drawn to them more than any other faction in the LotR and I’m reading the books to my kids right now and we just read about the Ride of the Rohirrim as they came to the aid of Gondor. Great stuff!

I defy anyone to read the following passage and resist the urge to go full Rohirrim in 2021.

Spoiler:

Stern now was Éomer's mood, and his mind clear again. He let blow the horns to rally all men to his banner that could come thither; for he thought to make a great shield-wall at the last, and stand, and fight there on foot till all fell, and do deeds of song on the fields of Pelennor, though no man should be left in the West to remember the last King of the Mark. So he rode to a green hillock and there set his banner, and the White Horse ran rippling in the wind.
Out of doubt, out of dark to the day's rising
I came singing in the sun, sword unsheathing.
To hope's end I rode and to heart's breaking:
Now for wrath, now for ruin and a red nightfall!
These staves he spoke, yet he laughed as he said them. For once more lust of battle was on him; and he was still unscathed, and he was young, and he was king: the lord of a fell people. And lo! even as he laughed at despair he looked out again on the black ships, and he lifted up his sword to defy them.

Sorry, just give me a minute... I've got something in my eye.

Reading them as a kid, I really got into the lore and action and I admit to skipping some of the longer poetry sections. Going back to it as an adult, I realize what a good writer Tolkein is. That's why the books have such lasting power, I think - plenty of good world builders who were not good writers, and vice versa (Lord Dunsany comes to mind). #TolkeinDidItBest

I really have to read the books again, last time I read them was parallel to the movie releases. Any recommendation on a good hardcover edition that doesn't break the bank? Was eyeing Folio Society, but their price plus postage to Germany was a little rich for my blood.

In other news, very little hobbying has been done. We are in the process of reorganizing, redecorating and refurnituring our ground floor. We have now prepared everything for the new furniture (which hopefully arrives as planned next Friday), but motivation to paint was low in the evenings.

So these Intercessors only took a few hours, but spaced over a lot of days. But now they are done and I'm happy with them. The color really works with gold instead of silver trims as well. Looking at the pictures the gold is a little rough on shoulderpads and helmets, but good enough for gaming, which always is my goal.

I like how the Sgt. turned out. The black shield is a nice eyecatcher amidst the blue and the open helmet is really cool.

Didn't have the motivation to shave off the belt helmet, so I driled some holes and it is now the helmet of his first Sgt. who fell over 50 years ago, but he it is carrying to remember to be always vigilant.

NIce AI's.

It always amazes me how a simple pad/headswap to mk3's changes the entire look of an intercessor. (throw in a mk3 backpack and you can really sell the look)

is that contrast over metallics I see? not really hot on contrast and have mixed feelings about it (comes of being in this game for too many years) but this is one of the things were i think it has real application potential.

Your assault intercessors look brilliant! The gold and blue/green combo works really nicely with the added trim of the MKIII helms and I like the little nod to a fallen marine with the Sgt.

Just join in on the Tolkien discussion, I've just finished the audio book version of the Two Towers (unabridged) having never read it before. Wonderful storytelling and world building.

That little black shield with the (Sakura dragon?) design on it is really nice. Fun little detail, and yes, eye catching.

Back to Tolkien though, If you actually plan on reading it my advice would be to just grab a box set of three paperbacks. The thing is an unwieldy tome in one volume and reading it for any length of time will test your wrist strength.

Also, One smaller book at a time is easier to get through mentally. You get nice milestones and feel like you're making progress when you close the first book and move onto the next one. With one big volume you hit The Coucil of Elrond, get seven pages in, look at the four inches of solid paper on the right side of the book, sigh deeply, consider the choices you've made in your life, and then go watch the movies.

Also, that's a really nice metallic green scheme, especially with the complimentary left pauldron colour. You've a good Eye for a combination.

Thanks osjclatchford! Headswaps can be really effective with marines, although it took me some while to get those MK3 helmets, the bitz box was empty
Yeah, it's Contrast Akhelian Green over Leadbelcher. It's really cool stuff for metallic surfaces. Mine is a little blotchy, because I only slosh on one coat, but with some Contrast Medium and more patience it could be a lot cleaner.

Thanks Yorkright! Eyes are my big bane, but with his dark skin color I couldn't get away with just some dark shade so I had to buckle up and was very glad, that I hit both pupils so he's not cross-eyed

Thanks Slinky! Rohan will be on the menu for the next weeks, always interspersing with my marines and sisters. Had my favorite characters delivered yesterday, the new Eowyn and Merry are here. And I'm already pondering how to build them, I don't want to buy a second set for all options (although I'm afraid I will, same when I get to Eomer ).

Thanks gobert! We had planned to do the ground floor (combined living, dining and cooking area) this year anyway and without being able to get out much, it was very easy to plan it sooner and click the order button

Some more hobbying this weekend, but more of a building nature. Finally did my rhino for the painting competition, hopefully it is warm enough in the next day to get it primed.

Used the Conquest sprue (just the first magazine) and spruced it up with the Sororitas Upgrade frame. It will be the rhino for my church fanatics like priests, missionaries, arco-flagellants, death cult assassins and so on. Just a nice murder box

Additionally I really want to "finish" my space marines and built my ETB Reivers and the last 5 Incursor/Infiltrator bodies. Have some bits to get on squad of Incursors and Infiltrators out of this.

And started on the horsies, black contrast looks awful, already two coats, hope to save it with some highlights. White is a bit better, but the brushed on Grey Seer was to thick. I did the Duncan "Two thin coats" method, but apparently not thin enough. I think most horses will end up brown in the end. Am happy with the Militarum Green on under the saddle, will use this for all the capes, very fitting color.

Black Templar is such an odd colour, a single coat will never give you true black and multiples just lose the contrast effect. The only real use I have for is is over a metal base for bolter/ranged weapon casings.

Nice additions to make the Rhino a deliverer of righteous fury, hope that the previous owners did not leave any nasty surprises in the interior...at least all the incense should cover any terrible smells.

Really wishing I'd started marines sooner, those conquest rhinos were so cheap and very easily could have picked up a few. Excited to see how it turns out, the sisters bits are great additions.

Shame about the black templar, I've seen more and more people get results they're not happy with and it's starting to feel like that paint has very limited uses like ListenToMeWarriors said.

I don't need any more miniatures from any more games to start and paint and not be able to play. Otherwise, I probably would buy a bunch of Rohirrim. Or, perhaps, a bunch of Dúnedain.
The Dúnedain are the coolest.

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.

Cool work on the marines.

ListenToMeWarriors wrote:Black Templar is such an odd colour, a single coat will never give you true black and multiples just lose the contrast effect. The only real use I have for is is over a metal base for bolter/ranged weapon casings.

Nice additions to make the Rhino a deliverer of righteous fury, hope that the previous owners did not leave any nasty surprises in the interior...at least all the incense should cover any terrible smells.

I had only used it going over metallic for black space marine armour (works well) and the cloak of a chaos model for Mordheim which worked well too. But yeah, with the horses it is clearly a miss.

I would love to see one Nurgling wreak havoc and 10 sisters frantically trying to get it out of the rhino

Tyranid Horde wrote:Really wishing I'd started marines sooner, those conquest rhinos were so cheap and very easily could have picked up a few. Excited to see how it turns out, the sisters bits are great additions.

Shame about the black templar, I've seen more and more people get results they're not happy with and it's starting to feel like that paint has very limited uses like ListenToMeWarriors said.

Luckily for me Germany is a year or so behind UK Conquest so I knew what was coming and was able to secure single issues with a news vendor. Got the Apothecary that way and one rhino.

youwashock wrote:After a bit of paint nobody will ever know your pious Ecclesiarchy friends are riding in Nurgle's town car. Bummer about the Black Templar.

Hopefully tomorrow it stops raining, temperature is already warm enough. Than it will be silver all around and no more nurgle green can be seen!

amazingturtles wrote:It's a lovely green box, i'm sure there will not be any lingering chaos. That never happens.

The sisters of perpetual annoyance have the strongest incense there is. They will holy smoke all the chaos out of it!

I haven't had a good look at the armies yet, but a Dunedain force would be cool too. But I believe there are only a handful of models plus 50 variants of Aragorn

As I said, I'm in building mode. And after getting the info that Santa Claus was finally able to get the Primaris Chaplain on bike produced, I'm working on my small space marine speed force. Gonna get the Outriders sprues out soon and wanted to add a Captain on bike. But with a spin, because I'm using a draco...thing from AoS. Unfortunately this posed a few problems with torso and legs, marines are not flexible. Waiting for the green stuff to dry and hopefully file it smooth. And it's infuriating seeing what Syro_ or theCrowe can do with that stuff and I'm happy if I can fill some gaps
Need to work a lot more on the base to get it more Sci-Fi, creature already got some 40k nubbins and now looking to get two stormbolter halves on both its hind legs to cover the lightning symbols and be WYSIWYG.
Still have to work out the had and what to give him for a weapon. Torn between master-crafted boltgun or bolter/flamer combi. Gonna work on him some more this evening and can hopefully prime him soon, atm it looks very busy with all these colors

And because of bad weather I omitted a walk during my lunch break and am now finished. Found the head per chance and find it rather fitting. Combi-Flamer is from the Sororitas set. Left the symbols on, because Order and Chapter are very chummy (as seen with the Hydra on the sisters rhino).
Need to cover the leaves with some texture paint, but other than that it should now look more like 40k than AoS. Already excited to paint it/him.

Wow, that is as an awesome build mate!

The Mr T head fits perfectly in there and you did a good job fitting the bolters and extra gubbins on the back. It's kind of fun to see all the different colours there; it shows that you've cast the net wide for the kitbash. I'm also a big fan of back banners in general - feels very 2/3e 40k to me and just seems right.

Excited to see some paint on him!

Thanks darkkt! Give in to the urge And if you do, the more blue armour is funnily enough Akhelian Green and my other go-to is Terradon Turquoise. Both work marvelous over Leadbelcher.

Started painting the beast yesterday evening and am already very happy. Only sad thing are the cracks at the paws. Thought I had pressed them in enough before priming, but apparently not. Ah well...
Skin is done, both eyes are yellow and basecoated everything Grey Seer that will get some contrast paints (hopefully today. Some Sigmar symbols are still on the Dracoline, but I think it doesn't matter that much, enough 40k all around.

And he is done. Took longer than expected, always found some new detail, but made a big push last evening. Very happy with the kitbash and the paintjob, he looks like he jumped from a 90's tv screen. Just miffed about the green stuff work between legs and torso, that really is not my forte. And looking at the big pictures, I missed his service stud (or could paint it as a big mole ).
And just had a small look around the P&M section, lots of catching up to do over the next days.

Very little hobbying done, but I finished the first Rohan test model with a quick and dirty mostly Contrast paintjob. Quite happy, was able to do him fast and seeing as there are 11 of his brothers it seems a good enough method:

Alas they are on hold for now, because I ordered Cygor Brown to have one more Contrast brown at hand for cloth like the trousers and differentiate them from leather or horse skin.

This is my January in review:

Love the height difference between the captain and the Rohirrim

Resprayed the Rhino and will tackle it in the near future

And so happy to have gotten this guy from eBay (paying too much). Loved mcattila's take on him and needed one too:

And he hasn't even any rules to be used with my SoB But it's such a great sculpt. May add a shotgun to his back and play him as Uriah Jacob.

Last but not least got a game in last weekend, we journeyed further along in our Crusade. Used the Open War deck and because I was too stupid to read right, we each drew an objective card and just played both.

If he didn't already, my friend now really hates the Invictor Warsuit, again the MVP. He's the most lethal unit from my roster.
But the most important mini was my Judiciar. What a beast he was in close combat.

The game was drawn (because we always held the same amount of the first objectives) so it came down to securing the second objective for 5 VP: the treasure chest. My sarge and the Judiciar were controlling it, when 7 Necron Warriors made their charge for the last action of the game. Because they are wise, they only charged the sarge. Because my friend had forgotten the rule my Judiciar made a Heroic Intervention. Now, he "only" has 5 attacks in the first round of battle, so he couldn't kill them all, right? WRONG! He has kind of a close combat sniper rifle so every wound roll of 6 equals an additional mortal wound. I hit with four of the five attacks and then rolled four (!) sixes to wound. And the three remaining warriors failed their save, so that was it.
Really fun (at least for me) and again a game that was not decided until the very last moment.

Here are some impressions:

They weren't running along those planks, because they are heroes. They didn't do it, because it was their duty. They did it because the moron playing with them is stupid

They got shot to pieces except the sarge who charged the Necron Warriors in round 3 and killed three. He subsequently died and the remaining seven were the ones dying at the end of the game.

The treasure chest saw a lot of fighting, exploding scarabs are no fun

I hate the Wraiths, they always get stuff killed and now leveled up to re-roll all hit rolls of 1

"Hey sarge, are you seeing anything?" "Not a clunker in sight."

Sarge left the fight after his brothers got killed and actually survived the game, because the Wraiths went to the treasure chest.

Rematch is planned for the weekend, but the older Snotling is a little sick so may to postpone it.

And totally forgot, started painting the Bladeguard and will tackle the Cpt. and Lt. afterwards. Love the push fit models, so easy to get everywhere with the brush Eowyn will quite probably be my entry for the painting challenge this month, although the rest also qualifies.

You are allowed to meet one person from another household in public spaces and most people (like us) adopt it for "at home" too (where in theory you could meet more). Speaking of the next game, I will kick the Eliminators from my force. It was all well and fun how they shot the Hexmark Destroyer off the board game 1, turn 1. But after that they mostly look cool and get dragged into melee. So I will exchange them for some Bladeguard and am well underway to finish them this weekend.

Sorry to hear about the Eliminators, was your opponent not running a character-heavy list? I got the sense that they were good for the assassination secondary.

Thanks Don Qui Hotep! He shields his characters well, they mostly stay out of sight so even as a threat they don't work too well atm. But when we go from 50 to 100 PL they will find a place again on the roster, I'm sure.

PS: Need any more Riders of Rohan?

Thanks Captain Brown! Don't need more riders, I will be glad when my Pelennor Fields box is painted And the question remains, if I get my friends to play LotR, only one has models for it atm.

Yorkright wrote: Bladeguard look good in your colorscheme, the red shields are a nice contrast to the metallic blues of their armor. Can you tell me what gold paint your using on the shields?

Thanks Yorkright! I use Retributor Armour for all gold details. Mostly without a shade and sometimes with a bit of Guilliman Flesh.

inmygravenimage wrote:Already excited by the colour contrasts going on there.

Thanks Graven!

So I finished the Bladeguard, very happy with them and hope they see the battlefield soon (not happy with the pic, desk lamp makes the colors pop more).

And during drying of Bladeguard stuff I thought "well, you could maybe start on Eowyn..." And then I just kept going and she is done. Hair is contrast, the rest good old layering.

Good job with Eowyn! Blue cloth looks great.

Almost 20 years ago or so there were quite some Lotr players in Germany as far as I know. It started after the first movie was released and the magazine was available, where you could get the minis really cheap. Imported the magazine back then. Hundreds of orcs and goblins. Good luck finding or motivating players nowerdays, though.

Great job on Eowyn, really tight edge highlights on her cloak and leather details. Hard to believe we're in the duodecadal of The Fellowship of the Ring. Sounds like just the right time for a LotR renaissance.

I wasn't sure the guy on the draco would work, but by painting it in flatter colours, it really does.

The Bladeguard are great too. The only thing I wonder is if you could get a thin pinshade into the depths of the white to give it a teensy bit more definition?

The shieldmaiden looks top-notch too. Lovely vibrant blue.

Really nice work on Eowin there. Any more hero characters planned. The Rohan armoured Merry is a sweet little mini.

I always loved the LoTR character minis. Just a lovely fine detail to them. That said my own small fellowship collection never did get finished. I toy with the idea of starting a little Gondor or Rohan force on and off every now and then. Mostly when I see sweet painted horsies and shield maidens like these.

Paused a bit with painting to get some of my boxes sorted, lots of bitz still on sprue and taking up lots of space. But started painting again this weekend, gonna go for four minis in the painting comp, after Eowyn came together this fast. Theme is "showing off" so I assembled more sword fighters from three more gaming systems. Baron Zemo is done (although not happy with his hood, in general I found the details not very crisp. But he is done and I am quite pleased with the jacket. Commissar Raine will be next.

Gotta wait some more, wasn't really feeling him so he went back onto the primed pile

Not much hobbying done in the last two weeks. We had new flooring laid on two levels and it was a bit of a logistical puzzle where to put stuff, so that the workers can get everything done. But now everything is nearly at its place. Unfortunately we need three 4x1 Kallax shelves, but they are out of stock, will look for alternatives although more often than not they are pricier and not of better quality.
And liberating Italy in Sniper Elite 4 also takes up some of my time

But I finished Commissar Raine a week ago in my tested haphazard method of drylighting cloth. Quite happy with her, we'll see if she sees the battlefield in a Kill Team match someday.

Looking at the pics I realize I should get the stripe done in a different color on her trousers, missed that while painting.

And here she is with the other two entries for the painting challenge. Need to do some glamour shots today:

Despite little hobby time, I got two games in over the last two weeks against my friend and his Necrons. First of all, they have really nice guns, a lot of Str. 5 going around and the minis with toughness 5 also laugh at my puny Phobos bolters. Need to add to the roster and get Inceptors and Surpressors in for fire support. Bladeguard are really cool, churning out 13 attacks on the charge is nothing to be sneezed at.

No real batreps, we played with the open war cards, but will do new mission style from next game on again. First game was won by me, because with Orbital Bombardement I made him go away from one of his objectives and I win by one point in the end, because I held mine for the whole duration and we didn't manage to steal one from the opponent. Memorable scene: Judicar Lem tries to charge the Necron gunslinger... forgetting he overwatches on 2. Ah well, he managed to get the charge in, but didn't kill him (one wound remained) and than the Necron left the melee and Lem was gunned down by filthy murderbots.

Second game I got floored, because I made some bad tactical decisions turn 1 and failed to kill a single model. My friend made every saves and if he didn't make one, Reanimation Protocol kicked in. He had some very bad dice the games before in this regard, but boy oh boy, did these bots not stay down this time. My Assault Intercessors killed 8 Necron Warriors on the charge... or they thought the did, never managed to kill those 10 bot squad, because they always came back. In the end I managed to kill 4 of them in three rounds of battle

Memorable scene (my command trinity awaiting the bulk of the Necron army, failing to defend the middle objective.

Next month I want to be a bit more productive and tackle power-armored stuff, the aim is to get some marines and sisters backlog done.

Thanks Captain Brown! I use a 0.05 mm pen and just lazily go over the seals May try your method one day, but luckily for bigger surfaces the new sisters transfers have excellent script on them.

Yorkright wrote: Echoing everyone else’s take on the Commissar, very nice job. Still extremely jealous of your getting some games in. Your opponents necrons look great in that blue armor.

Thanks Yorkright!

Not much has happened hobbywise, but I started slowly painting my Retirbutors, so I can cross them off and get all the sisters I have atm done in April.

Because sisters almost all look the same, I will try to differentiate them by armour color. My standard sisters have the turquoise, Rets will get black armour (the Black Templar quit on me, but the replacement has already arrived), Dominions will be blue and Celestians silver (once I buy more sisters). Of course this means I can't just switch special and heavy weapons around, but it feels neater all around.

Also built (with the aid of some ETB Reivers) 5 more Incursors and Infiltrators.

Also got some more games in:

This was a fun game, although I only fully realized this in the aftermath. But more on that later. My friend's objective was to destroy the drums (one extra was a special objective from his agenda list) and he would get 20 points for every one. I on the other hand would get 20 points for every drum still standing at the end of round 5. Additionally we would get 10 points per round, if one of us killed more units than the other.

What can I say, it was a slaughter. I lost every single model and killed in return the three scarab bases and one Wraith. He made saves like a champion and the dead Necrons didn't stay down.
But he still lost, because of his move here:

He should have used his scarabs to destroy the drum. Instead he charged the walker to tie it down. Hadn't he done that, it would have won him the game.

Because I managed in the fifth round to rally my last models to each beset a drum so he couldn't get near them without getting in engagement range. And so he couldn't start the actions to destroy the objectives. All he could do was kill those last marines. It took three units to take down my captain

First we thought he had won, because one destroyed drum (20 points) plus 5 rounds of carnage (50 points) beat my 60 for defending. But then we realized, that I had killed the last scarabs base in round 3 and he only maimed some units. So 10 points wandered to me and I won without any model standing in the end

He was pretty miffed, but it still shows, that playing the mission is very important!

And to round this up, a nice Wraith shot, they work well with the Edge of Tomorrow poster

We had another game the week after and it ended in a tie, because I forgot to make a pile in on his scarabs. If I had done this with my Surpressors he would have lost that game by 5 points. Alas, the scarabs saved the day this time. And I didn't lose my whole army, but damn those Necrons were hard to kill. Especially his Crusade ones, because some units have the trait, that one automatically reanimates (well he can turn one dice to a 6). He even got three wound models back, it was horrifying. But it still shows, that the missions seem to work really well, our matchups were always close.

Only one picture, some more are in the gallery, but forgot to take some most of the game:

"Little help guys" were his last words

I will enter it in the comp instead... if I manage to finish it, the light portion of my daylight magnifying glass just died after taking the last pic). Went all out and painted all the buttons and even the seat... which will not be seen now the marine is strapped in

And it's standing now at 80%, need to do the other two tyres and then some weathering. Did some bullet holes to give it a more used look. And somehow the left eye of the driver doesn't really show up, need to redo it, once I have the new light.

Witness me!!!

Got ready in time for the comp deadline and now have finished pics. And with a long weekend approaching need to finally go through all of your plogs, have neglected the commenting a bit.

A little hard to see, but tried to give the buttons real functions, top red ones are for the front guns and the ones below for shifting gears. And not good to see either, but that weird box at the gunner's position got turned into a walkman, tried pause, play and other buttons and it now says Sony on the front.

Thanks ListenToMeWarriors! Your basing of the ATV was a great inspiration, it really pulls the model better together, luckily I had some bases lying around.

Thanks IGtR=! I've really grown very fond of it and like the little details. The headswaps really helped to make it look fun silly

And Happy Easter retrospectively, of course the legion was there too:

And I got a bit motivation to get my sisters on the way, so when the new codex or campaign book hits with Crusade rules, I can get them started right away. Retributors are slowly getting there, mainly gold details and the weapons missing. Felt good to glue them to the bases, always wait for this until the cloth and armour are done.

And trying my abysmal green stuff skills and build Dominions out of Enforcers: I have heads, I have storm bolters and I will probably never play Necromunda, so it would be a good saving and add ten more models in no time to my army. Gotta see if I can file the dried green stuff later and what it will look like after priming. May have to try something else for the other models. I had cut off a bit too much from the glove, if I do it more careful on the other three, I may not even need green stuff.

And the Dominion squad is finished. Heads are kind of a problem, because the Enforcers have separate necks and you can't leave them off and just use the normal sisters heads. So I have to cut off the armor part of their heads and then neck and head fit not perfectly, but well enough from a distance. As do the storm bolters, avoided green stuff after the first sister and tried several arm combinations. Idiot that I am I forgot to note the parts so I can built the second squad faster
And I'm really happy with the superior, converted an inferno pistol out of a bolt pistol and the front of a melta.

Retributor squad is also progressing nicely, "only" the weapons and heads to do:

And after nearly half a year and three quick covid tests on Saturday we continued our Mordheim campaign. It felt really good to get the Hobbits out again. One friend tried his new Norse men army, but because Fantasywelt doesn't get new stock of Frostgrave and other minis, he had to sub with some of my minis.

We played "The lost prince" and the lovely Lady Curtainface played the lost prince(ss). Seeing as she started behind the pub we reasoned that she was drunk and disorderly and it was now our duty as good Hobbits, Undead and Norse men to get her home safely. Unfortunately before every turn she moves D6 with a scatter dice.

Undead

Norse men

Hobbits

Lady Curtainface

Hilarity ensued, because the good Lady walked away from every warband straight into the one corner where no one started. And she moved 6" every turn. The Norse men and half of the Undead raced to get to her and in the end she walked right into the arms of the werewolf of the Norse warband as he seemed the better alternative to the ghouls and zombies closing in.

I on the other hand just started a brawl with the other half of the Undead. I nearly got the vampire (Wight King mini) down with arrows, but from 6 shots managed to only wound with one. He was pretty pissed, crossed the river and killed four little halflings (including my leader) with no effort at all.
On the other hand Harvey the Ogre was in killing mood and managed to kill his mercenary brethren, two ghouls and the wizard mercenary, leveling three times after the game. He now has strength 5 and toughness 5 and is in all respects the muscle of this warband.

Thanks gobert! We will do another game tomorrow, alas it will be the last for the next time. Curfew will quite likely get enacted next week and as we play in the evenings, we can't. It really bugs me, because with preemptive measures like testing it should be possible to let people meet. Looking forward to summer and hopefully more vaccination.

Thanks Ezki! Luckily the vampire is a monster, but he also got stupidity. If we are lucky he sometimes wanders aimlessly around or just drools. Those are the moments we cherish

DJJazzyJeff wrote:I’m guessing Harvey is the one with two heads? Solid work there, bud. Strength and toughness 5!

Thanks DJJazzyJeff! And yeah, Harvey is the two-headed ogre. Got him in a lot which I mostly passed on due to not really feeling an ogre army, but this one looked nice and as he was unpainted was the perfect candidate for a unique ogre mercenary.

Because the grey vampire (in Wight King disguise) got on my nerves, I took him with me after our last game and now he is new, shiny and hopefully undies the next game

It was quite fun painting him and I sure will get the new Wight character on horse someday.

And I finally finished my Retributors for my sisters (cherubs still need to get primed). Really happy, the black armor works well and differentiates them well from the "normal" sisters.

Thanks gobert! The purple helps tie everything together, have to see where I put it on the Enforcer sisters.

mcmattila wrote:The Wight King looks excellent, really makes me want to get to mine... Likewise, the Enforcer Sisters are sweet, looking forward to seeing them painted!

Thanks mcmattila! Do it, paint your Wight King, it's a really cool model. And as said before, was really said to give it back to my friend. I need more Wights myself, gonna get the new one on horseback.

Luckily the day I finished the Wight an article on Warhammer Community went up about Wight Kings and I realized I painted part of his cowl under the crown as armour and a buckle on the shoulder as a gold piece. Both errors where immediately rectified. My friend was very happy with the paintjob and I'm now in the process of finishing his three Dreg-stand-ins he had started some time ago. Pics will follow.

After a round of negative covid tests we had another two games on Friday. Really fun, although the newly painted Wight did not follow the law and totally failed to get killed Instead he more or less won both games single-handedly.

My Hobbits had heavy losses in both games, but they are scrappy little fellas. This one with the axe charged through the portal into a room with a lot of ghouls. It was just his bad luck, that none of his friends managed to follow He knocked one ghoul over, but failed to kill it and after that he got minced.

My other friend got his Frostgrave minis and built his Barbarian warband so he didn't have to borrow minis from me. Lovely minis and Contrast works well on them. Take a good look towards the guy with the two axes near the stairs. This is his mighty leader Karl. He died in every game he has played First time the week before my Hobbits took him out and he died permanently. First game on Friday he went through a portal and ended up in front of Harvey. It did not go well, but in the aftergame he survived and even got blunted so he would not have to do Ld tests when charging models that cause fear. And then the last game came along. Karl hadn't realized, that the Hobbit archers on the other side of the river can see him. One took aim and killed him, first shot. My friend was a little nonplussed - especially when another of the squad took out his werewolf. To make matters worse, both died permanently after the game.

It looks like you have been busy. There is a lot to catch up on here.

I’ve never seen anyone make Sisters out of the Palantines before. Very interesting to watch your step by step progress with that. I agree that the newer kits from GW are making kitbashing much more difficult than when the heads, arms, torso and legs were all separate and easily interchangeable. It’s good that the standard miniatures can have new and interesting and more dynamic poses but for me personally I prefer the endless creativity and variety of the old kits that were built to be kitbashed.

That Mordheim table and terrain is beautiful. Is that a local store? I maybe missed why the hobbits have a two-headed ogre but it obviously helped with the game balance as hobbits vs vampires does seem a bit one-sided. Looks like a good time was had by all.

Your Sisters’ paint scheme is looking really good. It’s nice to see a different color palette like that.

Lots of good stuff going over here.

Thanks The Riddle Of Steel! Actually I find kitbashing more or less pretty easy, although it is pretty easy with old Fantasy Sets for Mordheim But with the stormbolters and Palatines the biggest problem is that the Enforcers and Sisters have a significantly different sizes and with the second batch I will use a lot more dryfitting to see, if I can do better. I was really surprised that I could do that much with only resorting to green stuff once.

The table is a friend's, he built it some time ago. It is lovely playing on it. The Hobbit list has the option to take one village ogre and it is much needed with the low strength. And I got lucky first game and the ogre ascended from henchman to hero. Let's just hope, he doesn't perma-die soon.

Syro_ wrote:I'm glad you're getting some games in, they look fun. That's cool about the wight king dominating like that, but I hope your hobbits get the upper hand soon.

Unfortunately this was the last game of Mordheim for the forseeable future, but we hope to get back on track in summer. And then we will kill that abomination of a wight king/vampire

With curfew looming I got one more game in after another bout of negative tests. This time it was 40k in my hobby room. Kinda Matched Play (we used the missions, but calculated armies in Power Level). I tested my sisters and I loved it. They were so fun to play, really good at the offense, packing a punch and quite resilient at times. Took my friend 40 shots with shoot twice stratagem to kill 4 sisters in my 5-woman-squad.
Celestine and my Canoness were the MVPs, my Canoness holding of the Warrior squad and locking down the right flank with it. She weathered them coming back all the time and more or less won me the game.

Dice were still not wholly in love with me, but thankfully my friend had some bad rolling too. Most memorable was still my Canoness. Making 5 3+ saves with only one wound left was great, but then she struck back with her 4 attacks... hitting on 2+... and I rolled four 1s

Won the game with only a few points more, secondaries were the key, because we didn't manage to get the other one's objectives. Really, really fun and I'm excited for all the new sister models and hope the new codex or campaign book won't do too much with the rules.

And getting a copy of Cursed City I started with the first minis and choose the parcours vampire mixed apparently with a bit of werewolf. Decided to go for bright hair colors which will continue on the Underworlds Vampire warband, which I have also bought.

Quite happy although I'm still at odds with the Contrast flesh colors. I tried different techniques, but on larger surfaces I can't make it behave like I want to.

And for my Sisters some more Cherubs, that should paint up pretty fast.

Thanks ListenToMeWarriors! Yes I did, the studio models have some as well (of course theirs contrasts really great with the light skin and is painted much smoother ).

Nevelon wrote:Nice work on those vamps. Cool batrep, always nice to see minis in action. I always slack off on the photos about halfway into a game. Get caught up in playing, not documenting. Not terribly surprising.

Thanks Nevelon! The game was on edge the whole time, so it's really easy to miss taking pics. I always regret it afterwards, but it's better around this way and not have a boring game and lots of pics

IGtR= wrote:Vampires do look swish. Was worried that their silly poses might be too much, but seeing them 'in the wild' I see that they are actually quite good!

Thanks lGtR=! Their poses are really cool and as they are unique models I quite liked what the sculptors did here.

The flying babies are done, nothing fancy, because in reality they could be replaced by making a note once you used their ability and remove them from the squad anayway. But they are fun little minis and are quite fast to paint up.

And will now dig deeper into the Cursed City set and start with painting the new skeletons and their Watch Captain leader.

If I were a vampire, I'd probably do parkour. There would no fear of falling and breaking your neck. As long as you're not jumping over any wooden spikes, you should be good.

Those skeletons are such good models. Didn't have the cash and missed the box set release. I've made up for it since in the amount of Skaven I've bought, so there you go.

I finished my first skellie from the Cursed City set and am very happy with the color scheme. Wanted to have a contrast between vibrant armour and cloth and the rusty old shield and sword. Now there's only 9 and their Captain to go

And I finished the first of my Dominion kitbash sisters. Wasn't sure how to emulate my color scheme on these models, but am quite happy. A friend of my sister's boyfriend luckily was able to print me some backpacks, because I didn't find any on bitz websites. It was a bit hard to attach and I have to find a better solution on the other four, but it's a nice look overall. And on the big pics I see I made a mess with the gold on one of the shin protectors. Need to clean that up.

Great work on the Dominion Sister bash. What a unique model you’ve created, and with your unique color scheme it stands out even more. You have definitely created something new that I’ve never seen - which is great and one of the best parts of this hobby, in my view. I love the look of a cloak and hood with armor over the top, and the sword and pistol loadout. It’s a nice mix of monastic motif and practical combat reality.

Thanks Gwyn! It's an easy recipe. I based with Iron Warrior then put Typhoid Corrosion over everything. Once that was dry I drybrushed with Leadbelcher. After that some watered down Nihilakh Oxide over everything and to finish it off some Balthasar Gold for the details.

Thanks MobileSuitRandom! And very interested on what colors you will settle for your skellies!

We had another 50 PL 40k game yesterday and - Spoiler - the sisters of battle wreaked havoc. Again I missed taking much picture, but end of turn 5 only 5 Necron Warriors were left "alive" (after killing the squad once over at least, stupid reanimating robots ). My canoness again died in battle, but taking the Necron gunslinger with her because of my army abilities to get another attack in when rolling 5+ after being killed. Although it has to be said that she should have killed him several times over beforehand, but rolled very abysmal again. I mean hitting on 2s and wounding on 3s, how hard can it be

Anyway, mission was to hold the four markers (two barrels, hatch and console). I had first turn and pressed forward immediately securing two of the four objectives. Suicide Squad Seraphim came from the skies and with Deadly Descent stratagem killed his spider (it always bothers me, so was happy to see it go). His turn he had to concentrate all fire on the Seraphim (who had a 2+ save against most) and the Rhino. He popped the transport and I lost a Retibutor at emergeny disembark, but luckily my Hospitaller was on that flank and resurrected her next turn.

It was downhill for him from there, I started the second turn with getting 15 VP, because I held two objectives and he only one, so I fulfilled all three conditions for the primary objective. Sisters really pack a punch, but the Necrons can hit hard too so end of turn 3 there were decidedly less units left on the field:

Retributors were the MVPs this game, killing the barge, one unit of Immortals and generally not dying because of the Hospitaller.

On turn 5 it was mostly cleanup for me, most devastating action for my friend was Celestine resurrecting and standing there again with 6 wounds, killing the Immortals while he got killed of with a melta shot to the face from a BSS squad.

Getting some Lost vibes

"And my plan would have worked, if it wasn't for you meddling living saints!"

The sister with the meltagun gets a commendation, because of giving the Overlord the final shot and melting his living metal.

Thanks Warboss_Waaazag!

I have been very idle since the last post, slowly getting some brush time in to get a few more skellies done for the painting comp, finished the Ulfenwatch Captain. Also startet with some other random bits, to have some variance. Aenur will probably never get played, but he was sitting like this in my friend's cupboard for ages and we may use him as an NPC in scenarios. The servitor scribe will be used in Stargrave as the Soldier class with the lockpicks.

With Stargrave I also finally have a reason to paint my two GSC characters, Biophagus will get work as a Medic and the sniper as a... sniper Will also paint up some of the Elucidian Starstriders for Stargrave, except for the Medic one, she got a 50 mm base, some scenery and will be drafted to my sisters as a Hospitaller.

Got some gaming in the last two weekends, but I'm afraid I don't have many pics.
First time the scenario was to get the merchant's son safely out of Mordheim. My Halfling thief infiltrated, got to the son first turn, dodged four shots from my friends norse bowmen and than slowly retreated back to my edge to get the NPC off the board. The norsemen slowly pursued the thief, but never came close to do any damage. On the other flank the Undead burst onto the scene, but got hindered by Harvey the Ogres (bonus points if you know that Pratchett reference ). It was Rampage mode, they are now S5 T5, opponent have -1S in close combat and he has a 5+ FNP, if attacks get through. He fought against 7 Undead and killed 5.

That won the game, as did the Vampire failing to hit the five Hobbits that were in close combat with him and getting dragged down and staked by the good Shire folk.
Unfortunately two of my heroes sustained chest injuries after the game, reducing the Toughness of them to 2 for my leader and to 1 for my Youngling

Second game was last Friday, this time the portal scenario. You go through one of six portals, roll a D6 and either jump around the battlefield or get attacked by an Elemental or find the treasure you then have to get over your edge. Managed to win this game too and again because of Harvey. He teleported far away first turn, than failed the "All alone" test and nearly fled the battlefield. But he rallied, jumped into another portal and really managed to get to the portal near my Hobbits to aid them and deflect the attacks by Undead and Norsemen. Up until his arrival my Halflings managed to retreat orderly and passing the treasure chest on whenever one fell.
Youngling leveled up after the game and is now back on Toughness 2 again

Loved this side shot, Norsemen and Wolf are advancing on my Halfling bowmen who have already dealt with the two Dregs that came out of the nearby portal.

And as was requested some time ago, an overview of the board (missing the Stoic Arms, it's hard to incorporate without all games ending in a bar brawl ).

It's my friend's table and he didn't built it in one go, but almost, to have everything fit together. It's always a delight playing on that board.

Still a bit idle, but churned out a quick Gandalf in one go, need him as a Warlock in Mordheim.

Also painted this Scriptor (I think) and used him as a lockpick guy in our first Stargrave game... he failed miserably. He needs a 7+ on a D20 to unlock a crate and failed on three or four tries. Than he got shot of the board May sub another mini for his class of soldier, a Ratling may be more fitting.

And I started (finally after years) on my Rogue Trader minis to use them in Stargrave. People familiar with this plog surely aren't surprised by the color choices

And the month I've been absent from this plog I was... really lazy great weather and little motivation with the Voidsmen meant, that I didn't paint much else. Got them finished a week before month's end and am happy with them, but did not like painting them at all. Didn't have good ideas for doing the armour apart from doing them real bright.

Looking at the pics I realize now, that I forgot the buttons on their sleeves

And started with the Sacrosants I got, lovely sculpts and so much easier to paint when you know every step of your scheme. Hope to finish them this weekend.

They are looking good still, even though you did not enjoy the process.
Losing the motivation in the middle of a project happens from time to time, and one must try to push through or leave the models half painted.

Yes, but you finished them and that is another victory against the armies of the unpainted!

Losing the motivation in the middle of a project happens from time to time, and one must try to push through or leave the models half painted.
Young me did the latter on too many occasions (and I curse it now ), but you powered through regardless!

Thanks Ezki! It's always easier when I paint stuff for gaming, that is a real kick for motivation

youwashock wrote:Congrats on finishing the Voidsmen. Sorry it was more of a chore than enjoyable. If Gandalf died, you know what you have to do. Paint up a white version and watch your opponents tremble.

Thanks youwashock! The Gandalf and Pippin set is on my wishlist, but not top priority. So no white wizard in a while

ListenToMeWarriors wrote:That is still the best dog sculpt out there for me. I think the Voidsmen look great, and no doubt the Sacrosanct will be done in a few days.

Keep on keeping on V!

Thanks ListenToMeWarriors! That dog is lovely and was surprisingly easy to paint.

Yorkright wrote: Have not posted here in a bit (sorry about that), buy lurked around seeing all the good stuff you've been turning out. Gandalf looks really good for a quick paint job, and those sacrosanct's will fit in nicely with the rest of the army. Hope you get over the painting doldrums soon.

Thanks Yorkright and no need to be sorry! Seeing as I "disappeared" myself for a month

Got the Sacresants (apparently I spelled it wrong) finished in time for a game yesterday evening. They are a little rough around the edges when viewed closely, but overall my standard paintjob that I'm very happy with (using the 3 feet rule ) All in all lovely models with just the right amount of detail. But I would recommend putting the shields on last, I would not have loved to paint with them attached.

The game was 25 PL against CSM and some demons. My friend hasn't played a game of 40k in nearly 2 years and was a little handicapped by the mission. We rolled and got Assassinate and he chose for me to be the defender. As you can see, he deployed as far forward as possible (demonic reinforcements came also in turn 1) and needed to kill my Canoness (as seen behind the wall with her bodyguards).

My friend chose to go first (mission rules) and immediately killed my Repentia and PenEngine before they could do anything. Sad, because it was the first time I put the PenEngine on the field

But then their advance stalled and my sisters went to work. My Seraphim (for the first time ever, even if we include the small window I played in the early 2000s) were the MVPs. They killed the Bloodletters with their bolt pistols and hand flamers. In general my flamer weapons did good work, as they should in the hands of a battle sister!
Seraphim then charged the raptors and even managed to kill one. Subsequently the raports, Haarken Worldclaimer and some regular chaos marines killed them off.

After the melee Haarken, a slaneesh chariot concoction and the marines consolidated into my Sacresants and the Canoness. Haarken was able to get into melee with my Canoness, but lost two wounds in his turn (I was allowed to fight after his consolidation) and in my round she shot him humorless with her Wrath of the Emperor relic bolt pistol We stopped because I would have just had to mop up the few survivors he had.

Mission was definitely against him, would have liked to see how he would have fared in another one.

It's quite fun, my Sisters seem more durable than my Marines. At least if looking at the last four games. Blind fanatical determination and believe in the God-Emperor do seem to work

And now for something completely different:

Some palette cleansers, K2 will get some stippling with Leadbelcher, Cassian will be done mostly with Contrast and I already dread getting all the edge highlights on Red Skull's uniform.

Looks like it was still a fun game, sorry about the Penitent Engine but new model syndrome usually means its going to be shot off the table before you get to use it. The sacrasents look lovely, I agree on the shields, they are much easier to paint when they aren't attached.

It was a fun game and truth be told he needed a lot of his troops to get the Engine down. Having a 4+ save and a 5+ FNP makes it durable enough, even if it only has 5 wounds. He needed three units to get it down.

It was, especially since I hadn't seen that friend in person for quite some time (I believe we met at the other friend's house for Mordheim twice last year in the summer).

And some painted minis. Kept K2 pretty simple, with excessive sponge use. Cassian is all Contrast and two Metallics. He was surprisingly quick to paint.

Always really impressed with your colour schemes all round Viterbi, from the sisters to the Voidsmen (which are really beautiful minis!) to Cassian's pants/jacket and the red/pink spot on Gandalf (who looks brilliant on a square base!). You have a great eye for what works together.

The understated basing is nice too, and I'm impressed with your mix of styles there.

Glad to see you got a game in, too. Lovely to see well painted minis on well painted terrain. Pity about the engine - it is the way of the universe!

Thanks zahnib!

Again not much going on, the problem is I don't need any minis really urgent right now, so stuff just lingers. So I'm gonna try and do the old trick of painting everything a bit until suddenly stuff is done:

Grots are for Stargrave as the free soldiers when you're out of credits. And trying to push through with the Dominion conversions for my sisters and the 5 Seraphim. They have been sitting or better lying there for a while now.
And the Cursed City baddies will get the Contrast treatment, they seem to be designed for it.

Took also stock of everything I have painted so far for my sisters army:

And finally got the codex in hand and love the crusade rules, where you can set a character from your army on the way to become a living saint. Which fit perfectly with the new Dominion AoS box set, because the Spear of Sigmar looks a lot like Saint Sabbat and with minimal conversion work I can now paint my living saint:

Last but not least I did the Red Skull from Marvel Crisis Protocol. OSL could be a lot softer, but overall I'm happy with the result:

DJJazzyJeff wrote:Great bases. Nice conversion. All the same that everyone said, just more of it.

Thanks DJJazzyJeff!

I haven't been completely idle (but only just) and finished to mighty grots for the now nearly month old challenge:

Painted them up to kind of match my Imperial colors, gonna use them with the Starstriders in Stargrave, they will be used as the free soldiers, if you don't have the credits to buy the real ones

And as you probably know, I mostly play Mordheim with three friends and was looking into a new warband. I have mercenaries and witch hunters, my lovely halfling warband, but wanted a new one. I always liked Sisters of Sigmar, but don't like the old minis that much and getting enough of them costs like an arm or the second-born child.
Luckily I found the Sisters of Serens from a supplier from Spain. Metal miniatures (wouldn't have bought them, if they were resin) that look really great and came superbly packaged:

Unfortunately I was not able to glue the first weapons on properly and now some sisters have mutant hands (clearly fighting of the evil influences of Mordheim and proving their faith by not succumbing to the mutations ).

I've only been able to paint four heroines for the first game and haven't painted anything since then, but may start again today, finish the last heroine and start on the henchwomen. Next game will be in three weeks and I want all 17 ladies be done til then.

As you can see, the color scheme is the same as with my Sisters of Battle and I like to think both orders are linked through warp and time.

The halfling mercenary should give some long range support.

The first match of Matriarch vs. Vampire didn't go well for the lady with the hammers. Maybe she has more luck next time.

Thanks zahnib! I love those grot minis, they are really characterful. And using the SoB colors seems like a no-brainer in hindsight.

I still have not painted much more, but managed to finish my entry for the Halloween painting contest, this lovely Cosplayer:

He was quite fun and fast to paint, Contrast works well on those MCP minis. I already have Spider-Man on my desk, but realized I don't have red color Contrast. But he has already gotten his blue and I managed to stay in the lines

On the Sisters front a bit has happened. I managed to finish the last of the heroines some time ago. It's a fun looking mini and she now has leveled enough to give her hammers, even if this means there is no more WYSIWYG:

Also managed the first three henchsisters:

Now it's on to the next five, I need them finished til Saturday for our next game:

One of the slingshot novices was the heroine in the last games. She bravely went to an opening in the church wall, managed to kill an enemy hero (needed a 6 to hit) and then survived the onslaught of three enemy heroes in the next round. After that her Sisters arrived and mopped up the unlucky enemies.

And I painted up the miniature my friend uses as a witch mercenary. Didn't feel the sculpt, but overall I'm happy with her:

And last but not least something completely different. One of my projects for 2022 is the Quest of the Ringbearer campaign book and I managed to get the fish-eating Gollum of ebay and started brushing some base color on:

That's all for now and let's see if I will manage to post more regular in the near future

Including a photobombing

And done. Not happy with their faces, but they'll do at arm's length:

The Mordheim game on Saturday was a blast. My friend made some pics and I will write up a batrep in the next days.

In other news, I finished two more Marvel minis. With Contrast and a bit of brush control those paint up real quick. Nothing for the cabinet, but perfect for gaming. And I'm sorry Graven, I tried to do the black lines on Spider-Man's costume, but caved after the first try

Ok, need to paint the black on his "backspider" better

He was really fun, although I find the rifle lacking. An M16 or something like that would have looked better.

And some easy terrain

A bit has happened, I painted Ultron. It did not work out the way I wanted, but seeing as I don't like character or sculpt that much, he is now finished. That leaves only three core set minis. And the Hulk is built, now need to build Goblin, Gwen and Miles and prime them all.

Spidey with gobert's suggestion of Nuln Oil lines

Slow but steady some progress on the Sisters. All basecoats very sloppy atm, but will get better. Next game is on Friday, so that's the goal.

And I still owe you that Mordheim batrep, may get it written up before the next game... maybe

Glad my tip worked. Spidey looks less like he’s wearing pyjamas now! You could always drop another layer of Nuln in the recesses if you want them blacker, or layer a brighter red on the raider areas? What I really want to see is HULK SMASH!

Spidey looks great. For future reference, freeze it if you want to break superglue

Spider and Ultron look sweet. And now Sinister in the mix? Glad to see so much MCP getting painted.

Quick sign of life and on the weekend need to check all the other wonderful plogs.

Thanks gobert! I'm to apprehensive for another Nuln oil go and really don't want to layer those small raised areas. Because damnit are they small. I'm already dreading to paint miles, although his suit is kind of inverted. So I only need to paint him black and then all the raised red lines.
Hulk is still on standby, got the putty to close the gaps, but couldn't be bothered

Thanks Graven and will remember the freezing trick!

Thanks youwashock! Glad you like Ultron, really not happy with him, but he'll do. And you're in luck, the rest of the year will see even more MCP, if I keep up the pace.

Thanks Captain Brown!

I finally got the last four Sisters of Sigmar painted up, which concludes painting the warband. Really happy, although the faces are really meh and despite me being not the best painter, I want to blame the sculpts. Looking back at Eowyns face I painted this year, I don't have problems with small faces

I dread painting terrain (nearly as much as vehicles), but work on the apartment building commences. And got some Graffiti, because I also dread freehand

Sorastro has a nice guide to turn an Infinity toy into a statue (https://sorastro.com/2020/09/06/turn-a-disney-infinity-toy-into-a-statue/) and I will do just that with this Iron Man. His pedestal is a flower pot from Ikea which thankfully has a nice concrete look.
Currently on the second layer of bronze and it's starting to look better.

It's not over til the fat lad sings, Wilson will be up next...

...after finishing these two for the painting comp

Added bonus is the Spire Tyrant I will use for Mordheim as a pit fighter mercenary.

Very nice one. How did you feel the apartment went? I didn't enjoy the sanctum build. Just did Fisk, he's great fun. Where did you get the tags from? I do a mix of freehand and printing real ones out and pasting/painting them on.

You’ve been very busy Viterbi since the last time I’ve checked. Really nice work on all these Marvel figs, between you and Graven I’m getting the itch to paint up a few myself. (Must resist).
Looking forward to seeing how those transfers work out on the building, I had no idea those were available.

I found building it quite relaxing, it's very modular and simple. Maybe the Sanctorum uses some other techniques. Tags are from Green Stuff World and Micro Art Studios, bought both at kutami.de, but Wayland or Element might carry them too.

Thanks Yorkright! Give in to the urge and join us! It's easy to start and stop with them and they are quick palette cleansers between squads.

And the man with no fear is done:

Really happy with him and the red will be used on Deadpool too.

And sprayed the roof:

Nice Viterbi, I like how Dare Devil came out. That's interesting about the graffiti decals, I didn't know there was a product like that.

Was quite happy to find, that someone produces them. So much faster than handpainting and of better quality in my case

Managed to finish the Green Goblin too and am nearly done with the apartment rooftop. I'm soso about the glass panes, may try Graven's method of some white streaks, but They'll do for now.

Took some shot for the painting comp:

Getting him into focus is a

They turned out pretty good! I really like the discarded comic books on the bases as well as the posters and grime on the top of the apt. building. Nice, subtle touches that add a lot of character.

Thanks brushcommando! It was the easiest way to make the bases look more interesting

youwashock wrote:Nice job on Devil and Gobby. Daredevil is really going wild with that Billy club.

Thanks youwashock! And don't talk about that Billy club. It's not supposed to be glued to the outstretched hand. I had to do it, because the thin line was already broken, when I built the mini. But the repairs worked.

Thanks zahnib! Gollum is on the backburner atm, but was quite happy to get him.

The Marvel Mania continues, my Mat arrived (4x4) and tested my buildings (more from 4ground on the way) and my cars I got so I don't have to paint some

And the statue is done

Miles Morales is a great sculpt, but those red lines are They will work at arm's length, but I won't post closeups No "only" need to get the base done, first layer of blue is down.

And now for something different, my pit fighter for Mordheim. I thought it's a she, but from my photos looks more like a he. Will call shkler Pat the Pit Fighter, works for both genders And I corrected her dark skin behind the ear, didn't realize it until the closeup

You are smashing through the Crisis Protocol figures, I must admit that I know little of the Marvel Universe bar the obvious characters but these are all looking like great fun.

Great to see some more Mordheim from you as well. The fist spike on the pit fighter looks brutal!

Whoever came up with the idea of using the Infinity figures as statues is on to a good thing as well.
