Great progress on the painting front, the Cursed City Skeletons look amazing, well done. Your Halflings and Ogre seem to be doing well for you in the Mordheim games at the moment, and the boards you guys use are fantastic!

They are always quite fun, especially since winning the mission can leave you far worse off than before, if you roll bad in the aftergame

And Bar Brawls are an underrated aspect of fantasy life. You should lean into that.
The Stoic Arms will surely make a return. We are still trying to figure out, how to best utilize it, but the bar brawls over several levels were always fun.

Thanks gobert! Funnily enough, all the henchmen are stronger than my Hobbit heroes, having S3 and T3 compared to mostly S2 and T2. The only drawback of the bunch.

Was so happy when I remembered that she was stowed away and I don't have to convert a second model to make it look different. As is the nature of vampires, he has already risen again, but slightly weaker than before
MacPhail wrote:I love a good packed-table photo shoot... that's an awesome collection with great visual consistency, and also tons of unique aspects. I'm reminded of David Macaulay's Castle, Cathedral, etc... wonderful work!
It's my friend's table and he didn't built it in one go, but almost, to have everything fit together. It's always a delight playing on that board.
Still a bit idle, but churned out a quick Gandalf in one go, need him as a Warlock in Mordheim.
Also painted this Scriptor (I think) and used him as a lockpick guy in our first Stargrave game... he failed miserably. He needs a 7+ on a D20 to unlock a crate and failed on three or four tries. Than he got shot of the board May sub another mini for his class of soldier, a Ratling may be more fitting.
And I started (finally after years) on my Rogue Trader minis to use them in Stargrave. People familiar with this plog surely aren't surprised by the color choices

All the work is very well done- Gandalf is especially striking. Nice once in awhile to do just one figure from start to finish, as a break from fire team/squad/platoon/mass unit assembly line painting. Nice!

I'm right there with you DJJazzyJeff. Played a second game with another friend and loaned him the mini. He still blundered about the battlefield, but now I didn't care

Unfortunately in both games of Mordheim he's been in, he accomplished nothing and died horribly in-game and permanently in the after-game
Ezki wrote:Very good work with Gandalf! Should make a great addition to the warband.

Thanks Ezki! After game can be real fun, getting injuries or bad quirks. We loved the stupid vampire of my friend's Undead. He always wanted to kick him out and replace him, but stuck with him for better and worse and he did some mighty fighting, when he wasn't standing around drooling, because he botched his Ld test
JoshInJapan wrote:Gandalf turned out great--it's hard to believe you did him all in one go.

Thanks JoshInJapan! He is 90% drybrush and the rest contrast colors, so was quite easy
Played two games of Stargrave so far and quite like it. Rules are easy to learn, complexity will come with the Powers and the leveling up. We may start a campaign in the fall, I need more and different terrain.

Slinky wrote:Top wizard action there, that plastic Gandalf sculpt is really nice and you've done it justice
Thanks Slinky! He is one of the better sculpts from the plastic Fellowship. I believe those were metal in their first iteration.
And the month I've been absent from this plog I was... really lazy great weather and little motivation with the Voidsmen meant, that I didn't paint much else. Got them finished a week before month's end and am happy with them, but did not like painting them at all. Didn't have good ideas for doing the armour apart from doing them real bright.
Looking at the pics I realize now, that I forgot the buttons on their sleeves
And started with the Sacrosants I got, lovely sculpts and so much easier to paint when you know every step of your scheme. Hope to finish them this weekend.

They are looking good still, even though you did not enjoy the process.
Losing the motivation in the middle of a project happens from time to time, and one must try to push through or leave the models half painted.

Thanks Yorkright and no need to be sorry! Seeing as I "disappeared" myself for a month
Got the Sacresants (apparently I spelled it wrong) finished in time for a game yesterday evening. They are a little rough around the edges when viewed closely, but overall my standard paintjob that I'm very happy with (using the 3 feet rule ) All in all lovely models with just the right amount of detail. But I would recommend putting the shields on last, I would not have loved to paint with them attached.
The game was 25 PL against CSM and some demons. My friend hasn't played a game of 40k in nearly 2 years and was a little handicapped by the mission. We rolled and got Assassinate and he chose for me to be the defender. As you can see, he deployed as far forward as possible (demonic reinforcements came also in turn 1) and needed to kill my Canoness (as seen behind the wall with her bodyguards).
My friend chose to go first (mission rules) and immediately killed my Repentia and PenEngine before they could do anything. Sad, because it was the first time I put the PenEngine on the field
But then their advance stalled and my sisters went to work. My Seraphim (for the first time ever, even if we include the small window I played in the early 2000s) were the MVPs. They killed the Bloodletters with their bolt pistols and hand flamers. In general my flamer weapons did good work, as they should in the hands of a battle sister!
Seraphim then charged the raptors and even managed to kill one. Subsequently the raports, Haarken Worldclaimer and some regular chaos marines killed them off.
After the melee Haarken, a slaneesh chariot concoction and the marines consolidated into my Sacresants and the Canoness. Haarken was able to get into melee with my Canoness, but lost two wounds in his turn (I was allowed to fight after his consolidation) and in my round she shot him humorless with her Wrath of the Emperor relic bolt pistol We stopped because I would have just had to mop up the few survivors he had.
Mission was definitely against him, would have liked to see how he would have fared in another one.

It's quite fun, my Sisters seem more durable than my Marines. At least if looking at the last four games. Blind fanatical determination and believe in the God-Emperor do seem to work
And now for something completely different:
Some palette cleansers, K2 will get some stippling with Leadbelcher, Cassian will be done mostly with Contrast and I already dread getting all the edge highlights on Red Skull's uniform.

Looks like it was still a fun game, sorry about the Penitent Engine but new model syndrome usually means its going to be shot off the table before you get to use it. The sacrasents look lovely, I agree on the shields, they are much easier to paint when they aren't attached.

It was a fun game and truth be told he needed a lot of his troops to get the Engine down. Having a 4+ save and a 5+ FNP makes it durable enough, even if it only has 5 wounds. He needed three units to get it down.

It was, especially since I hadn't seen that friend in person for quite some time (I believe we met at the other friend's house for Mordheim twice last year in the summer).
And some painted minis. Kept K2 pretty simple, with excessive sponge use. Cassian is all Contrast and two Metallics. He was surprisingly quick to paint.

Always really impressed with your colour schemes all round Viterbi, from the sisters to the Voidsmen (which are really beautiful minis!) to Cassian's pants/jacket and the red/pink spot on Gandalf (who looks brilliant on a square base!). You have a great eye for what works together.
The understated basing is nice too, and I'm impressed with your mix of styles there.
Glad to see you got a game in, too. Lovely to see well painted minis on well painted terrain. Pity about the engine - it is the way of the universe!
