In saying that, my computers been mostly out of commission for the past 5 months so... I've basically got Fallout 4, Overwatch and Tomb Raider. So um... Yeah.

Rise of the Tomb Raider it is!

I'm currently working my way through Tomb Raider. Really liked the previous one and so far this one seems just as good

Also getting through Doom and about to start another Mass Effect playthrough (probably only 2 and 3 this time, I love the first but man is the gunplay in it clunky and the biotics are overpowered as hell! ).

So after some earlier annoyance I dived back into Mordheim with the Undead DLC, and I think my mind is offically blown. Either that or the Undead are silly good, my Vampire lord alongside a pair of Ghouls tore appart a Skaven warband while my Zombies lurched around and gatherd warpstone

Heroes and Generals.

A game where half the players carry magnetic mines, but tanks don't have the option for zimmerit.

(History buffs will know that only the Germans used anti-magnetic protection on their tanks in the field. ...And that this quickly went out of use seeing as nobody was using magnetic mines > recoilless rifles were much more effective. Tell that to these devs though). FYI 90% of all tanks in that game are destroyed by those mines. As a side not actual tank shells do about a fifth of the damage.

An alternative to the above would be "why not to play free to play arcady games".

My favorite game of Stellaris so far which has involved me being stuck in a little corner of the galaxy, sandwiched between a gargantuan despotic empire, and a somewhat more gargantuan fallen empire.

They hate each other far more than they even notice me, and that's how i plan to win.

That was a really good game. Too bad i only rented it on the console. Worst way to play the game as you had to flip between weapons and force powers in the most inefficient way possible.

Mind expounding on that? I got a friend who's being driven to distraction by the tanks in H&G because of how much anti-tank rockets cost.

Finished Titanfall 2's campaign, /singletear, been dropping in the multiplayer since.

Also started Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, it's cool so far, but I'm not seeing much different between this one and it's predecessor - which is good, I LOVED Human Revolution.

Downloaded MWO again as well to scratch that 'mech-sim itch, it's still frustrating at times given how poorly teammates interact, but gameplay is still solid.

Also been nipping at Diablo 3 as well every now and then trying to finish off my Season 8 bits for the new stash tab. It's a giant pain in the ass.

If you're looking for other Mech games, you should check out M.A.V.- I got a link in my signature.

It's not quite a sim, but it's being made as a spiritual successor to Chromehounds if you enjoyed that game. Cheap, and the community, though small, is pretty great.

I picked up XCOM enemy unknown for cheap a few days back, partly inspired by comments from Dakka, and I adore it.
It's so easy to just play "one more mission" until 3AM, but I really like the level of tactical thinking involved.
It's a bit like a cross between Chess and 40K, I suppose, but there's something about it that I really enjoy - the feeling of satisfaction when you make it through a mission without anyone ending up in the infirmary afterwards, or the relief when you take down a barrage-charging Sectopod on a 35% chance shot, is awesome. Great game.

A history of the tanks in that game: tanks were introduced, alongside AT ranged weapons. Infantry complained they couldn't beat tanks, so AT grenades were added. They still complained, so Tank Destroyers were added. They continued to complain, so we got H3 Magnetic Mines.

Tankies face palmed that the infantry weren't happy they couldn't destroy them with conventional weapons....

Tanks in Heroes and Generals have high armour values and bounce off ill angled shots. Tank vs Tank combat is scaled based on the bore and length of your gun and the ammunition it uses. A Sherman can beat a Panther by shooting it in the right place, a Panther can take out a Sherman with ease. Its all about getting the drop on each other and placing shots.

Meanwhile infantry have to accomplish the same thing, but with man portable weapons instead of tank shells. Panzerfaust are crap, not for realism's sake, but because how easy they are to attain. The game's balanced so if you encounter a tank the infantry should call in their own vehicles to take it out.

However... Well, infantry don't play like that. Everyone wants to be a one man army and we see little teamwork. Instead what we eventually got was H3 Mines.

As things are now the rock/ paper/ scissors between the different tanks and recoilless rifles is made entirely moot by infantry with H3 mines. Any tank in the game can be destroyed in 2 hits from those things placed anywhere in the hull. For context, A Tiger II takes upwards of 6 hits to kill from a tank destroyer.

Your average Rambo player doesn't like not being able to kill everything, so we're in the current situation. Besides ignoring that half the players in the game sit in bushes sniping instead of taking points (commonly points are lost to single men because nobody wants to defend - its someone else's problem - "I have kills to farm elsewhere"). The problem is, they added those mines - but didn't change any of the other weapons to account for them. So now we have a super cheap AT weapon which everyone uses, whilst saying everything else is under powered.

There's a patch coming to give tanks better armour, but that will probably not change the H3 Mine meta. The devs are more concerned about adding more content and making the game even more pay to win than it already is, whilst ignoring balance. As an indication of this the devs just released a patch which included planes, which was publicly announced, but a few days later - without telling anyone - increased the costs of all soldier career upgrades by at least 150% (this a month after decreasing the amount of currency players gained per match).

To cut a long story short, the game acts like its historically accurate, but wears its free to play nature openly. If Red Orchestra updated its graphics a bit and added some progression I'd be into that, though there's always the Vietnam one coming out. As it stands right now I'd really deter anyone from playing that game as its just going further downhill.

RO2 looks better than H&G and it actually has functional hitboxes which is apparently slightly important for FPS games. RO2 is the only multiplayer FPS game that I play with any regularity.

I first played H&G when it was still in beta and the game hasn't really changed all that much, its fun for a while but it's extremely grindy and the actual game itself is pretty glitchey and not well balanced.

I really should start playing Red Orchestra. Or maybe the Pacific version. I've got them both in my Steam library, but haven't done much past the tutorial.

And speaking of Steam...

Steam's Winter Sale just started. Unsurprisingly, Steam is experiencing unusually heavy load issues right now.

@Wyrmalla- Ah, I see. It's that the game was designed as a more realistic game, but players play it as a Battlefield-alike. Gotcha.

I'll have to mention that to my buddy. His biggest complaint is that infantry anti-tank is more expensive than tanks (if you're specialized as a tanker- he likes Recon).

Post by: Wyrmalla

@ Anvildude,

Yeah, sorry, went on a bit of a rant there. That's pretty much the summary of the Reddit page too.

I did play recon at one point, but they're pointless now too. Infantry can take scopes too. They're not as good, but a scope's a scope. The problem with snipers, and well tanks too, is that the game doesn't give a crap about your kills. Everything's centred around capturing points. I've had 30/1 kill death ratios in games, but lost out to 9/4 KD guys because they were on points. ...Which is fine. ...But well, everyone's obsessed about kills in that game oddly - meaning that despite the radical difference in value -people still focus on the kills (your average point is typically held by zero to one guys and lost to a single guy just walking into it).

So yes, not to go off on one, but its a game which is developed by people who want to make fun bits and bobs, but is pushed in an entirely different direction by the market and player base. Were it not free to play then perhaps it'd be different. As it is right now the game at first glance looks like a semi-realistic WWII game, but at higher levels descends into grinding and banging your head against the wall with its mechanics.

(And if you *say* your game is set in 1944-45, FFS devs actually bother to do some research. The Germans all wear grey. H3 Mines are still being used as opposed to recoiless rifles. The Germans still have paratroopers - and not only that they're somehow armed with FG-42s. The Americans are using interwar tanks which didn't even see any combat use. The MG-42 has a slow rate of fire...)

...I'd play Red Orchestra 2, but it must have been the lighting or something when I installed it, but it looked a lot like Mount and Blade Warband. :/

VA-11 Hall-A, or the waifu bartending game.

For a game where the only real interactions with the story is either mixing drinks or downing beers, it's surprisingly engaging, making for one of the better narrative games I've played this year.

Also played through the new Payday 2 heists with my brother and we did some more work on our underground bunker in 7 Days to Die, which is slowly becoming something of a Vault Tec thing as we add in more and more rooms.

In pillars I am curretly playing as a warrior in seartch of answers and a new home, just finished the first act and I gotta say this game is looking to take the place Baldurs Gate 2 Shadows Of Amn had for so long.
The Banner Saga however breaks my hearth each time I play it, many manly teats have had been so far.

VA-11 Hall-A is fun. Nice work by the group who did it. I understand there's a demo for it that takes you through the corgi party mentioned at the start of the game. I haven't tracked it down, though.

I've played the DX:MD DLC. IMO, they're good, but not worth the full price. Get them on sale.

Banner Saga gave you manly teats?

Gloria Victis.
Its basically a Mount and Blade MMO (in terms of the combat at least) with a very complex crafting system. Despite the presence open world PvP (with looting!) and its current glitchy nature (its still in alpha) its actually quite an engaging and interesting game. Not bad for £10..

I have it on PC and am busy getting some of the harder achievements myself. I can do Legend Ironman from time to time but after a few tries i still can't get the exquisite timing achievement (commander difficulty or higher campaign finished by july 1st in game time). Currently i'm at july 1st in this campaign of commander ironman and haven't lost any soldiers yet (which i somewhat lucked out on). I managed in the previous playthrough to do no squad size upgrade in commander difficulty on ironman which wasn't too hard until the last mission as they still don't allow more than 4 soldiers for that (excepting your avatar) despite allowing a squad size of 6 in avenger defense.

As far as where i'm at in the current campaign at july 1st i have done the black site, skulljacked the codex, done research, got the stasis suit and killed an avatar but couldn't get to that last psi gate area in time. Either way i didn't have enough time to research it all. It sucks as in all likelihood you have to stay hardcore tier 2 equipment if you want to do all the campaign specific research in time. So no plasma weapons and no power armor. I can handle that but going so fast around the world is tough.

-------

Btw if you need help with the game i can help you. Let me just say mimic beacons are your friend. The enemy tends to focus on them but remember it's just 12 hp per mimic beacon and sometimes if you throw it too far it can be seen by un-activated squads.

There's quite a lot to get into with tactics for the game but i'm not sure i'm up to really talk about all the ins and outs (i'm tired right now so ask me later). You get used to it though. I screamed bloody murder for a while when playing xcom 2 (esp. on hardest difficulty on ironman) but now i can handle Legend Ironman pretty reliably.

I sear this game is like 10 times harder than the first one. Almost to the point I'm not really enjoying playing it. It seems like every single
Mission has a new enemy in it. So every mission has an incremental difficulty increase and I can never get ahead. 1 sectopod already impossible to destroy for your team? How about 2 one game day later!

If i recall they only have 2 sectopod missions during alien facility destruction missions.

It's hard but it's a different beast. The general standard build is guerilla training school, resistance comms, power and then whatever you want (probably proving ground next).

Conceal rangers are great for scouting for your forces. Sword rangers are good early but can be ok later on with certain abilities. Specialists with combat protocol (small shock) goes through armor and does more damage to robotic enemies and turrets and is really good against both esp. when you upgrade to tier 2 gremlins as soon as you see a bot. You get tier 2 gremlins by researching advent mec wrecks and tier 3 by researching sectopod. Researching faceless gives you mimic beacons and researching mutons gives you plasma nades (extremely useful given they shred more armor and completely destroy enemy cover). Some cover can't be destroyed to well by frag grenades esp. advent walls and tree trunks most of the time. For this you use the grenadiers with the cover destroying ability. Early on use stun nades vs stun lancers and other melee units (to slow them or prevent melee), against enemies that mind control your dudes and to shut down enemy powers.

Using things like the construction time speed boost by scanning at resistance hq during month 2 or 3 is also good if you have a decent amount of engineers and need stuff excavated or built quickly.

While concealed remember it's a different game than normal fighting. Full cover tends to block line of sight so oddly it's your enemy in concealment but that makes it more fun. Give yourself a good amount of room around areas that block line of sight so you don't get spotted prematurely. If you have to go through buildings or watch out for units on top of them or below them (if you're on the roof) then use things like scanning protocol if you have it to see where everything is.

During terror missions use scanning protocol mixed with conceal rangers. Scanning protocol can detect faceless in a wide area while conceal rangers can generally pick them up while concealed and safely get them to the ship without notice.

Pay attention to mission rewards and what's needed when. Intel can buy you more alien alloys, elerium, soldiers, staff (engineers and scientists) or other such at the black market and it generally unlocks after the first supply raid. Also you need it hardcore to expand territories. Money is needed for buying staff and a lot of other things. Excavating with lots of engineers and the construction speed boost can also give you lots of money and resources esp. in lower difficulties where you can probably have a decent amount of alien alloys before even going on your first supply raid (intel boost at rebel hq is generally the worst of the 3 things you can get during 2nd month and beyond).

Missions where you you have to recover an item, scan a terminal or recover a soldier/staff from an advent vehicle or prison tend to give rewards for hacking which makes specialists esp. with higher tier gremlins (tier 2 or 3) even more useful. You can get anything from more intel, +20 hack increase (very good), dark events delayed by 2 weeks (can be decent), alien facility lead (pretty good), avenger scan times decreased by half (a great one if you really want to collect rewards the resistance drops around the map), alien alloys and possibly other goodies and it's terminals never have negative side effects unlike anything else you can hack (relays around town which usually only give mission specific bonuses but sometimes give intel or alloys i think and rarely give alien facility leads). My advice is the only thing you should hack is generally terminals, items and doors but usually stay away from relays and skulljacks as they both have negative modifiers and i still think the feedback'd to death glitch is still in xcom 2.

--------

Not sure what else i should help you with but i'll get into my current game right now. Hopefully i win this one without any soldier deaths so i can get that achievement but then it's on to getting the july 1st achievement which i barely failed in this playthrough so far.

You get used to it. I'm trying to get the july 1st achievement and the no soldier deaths achievement. I recently did the no squad size upgrade achievement for commander difficulty and did so on ironman mode (only lost 2 soldiers in the process the first being on mission one and the 2nd on the last turn of the last mission). I'm very close to the no soldier deaths achievement and even though the missions are usually pretty easy i'm still sorta worried about the last mission and that's it. I mean i did it with a 4 man squad outside of the commander's avatar so i suppose i can do it. Man believe me that final mission with just 4 soldiers is tough on ironman even if they allow you to re-try the final mission.

Just remember as i said before mimic beacons are your friend. Later in the game they can be meh against certain high dps enemies but even then a couple mimic beacons (about 2) go a long way. It tends to keep your guys from dying or getting injured and it does it's job insanely well. I'm mostly just breezing through 2nd hardest difficulty now. Once i get these achievements i suppose i can let Legend Ironman kick my *** about half the time again.

Just got out of the city in Baldurs Gate 2 Throne Of Baal, and I swear by Tempus I may murder my main characther if the fool keeps preforming less than well in battle. I may be asking to much but I expect a veteran figther armed to the teeth with magical gear and weapons to be able to beat a simple rank and file soldier in 1vs1. Let alone the spawn of the god of bloody murder as the case is with the main in these games.
But thankfully my Cleric has been able to keep me or anyone else from murdering the git so far.

Outside of the minor annoyance is has gone well, my party cleared out Saradush(spelling?) and slew the warlord whom sougth to murder everyone inside said walls. Had to bring back my Paladin to life as he took several axe blows to the head in the process. But beside that and a fair few deep wounds for the rest of the party none died. Witch is a first for me in this game and with this boss.

Picked up battlefield 1 the other day, played my 1st matches last night, although starting out with no gear I had great fun. Been playing battlefield since battlefield 2 and always play with objectives in mind.
Will learn the maps and hopefully unlock more war bonds.

We actually bought this for our son but of course I tried it out the following day. Holy cow this is a fun game. It does have some quirks that make me wonder what the hell the programmers where thinking but overall its a blast to play and a very cool progression of the "minecraft" gameplay. I feel like I truely have a reason to mine X resources other than just wanting to. The rpg element's are enjoyable and change gameplay up to actually feel different

Yeah. I'm playing Titanfall 2. Been rocking Northstar and a build of my own devising that leads to me basically running in, taking some hits to tether enemy Titans in place and then self-destructing.

I'm having some difficulty designing a plane in Kerbal Space Program that flies worth a damn. Rocket ships are easy, but the planes are very hard to design. Many Kerbals have died in my ill-fated airplane experiments. One thing I'm not happy about; the game doesn't seem to recognize my gamepad. It would really make flying much easier than trying to fly with just the keyboard.

so well so no Titanfall 3. That's the danger of having no campaign in your game. Got to get people invested in the world or they are not going to tune in for the sequel.

Don't know where you heard literally any of that...

There was a campaign in Titanfall 2. It sold well enough that EA has greenlit a sequel. It will be awhile coming however, as Respawn are working on a Star Wars game right now too.

The reason why Titanfall 2 has been getting lambasted as "not selling well" is because it launched against two established franchises(Battlefield 1 was a week previous, Call of Duty Infinite Warfare--which really only sold as well as it did for the remastered Modern Warfare was a week after).

How are you doing in xcom 2 then? Did my advice help in any way?

There's more advice to give (skill combos, ammo types, weapon upgrades and PCS upgrades as well). Part of the fun is in figuring it out yourself provided you can withstand the near unbearable difficulty esp. on hardest difficulty on ironman mode. I say this as somebody who's invested more than 1,000 hours into xcom 2 and about 7/10 or 4/5 of that game time was on the hardest difficulty whether trying to beat it or beating it esp. on ironman mode. Trust me i threw swears up and down all over the place just trying to beat the hardest difficulty and without mimic beacons it's infinitely harder (they're basically get out of jail free cards) and considering everything takes longer in the hardest difficulty esp. squad injuries (being gravely injured can net you like 30 days or more in medbay) you need mimic beacons. I'd pretty much say without them i might not be able to handle the hardest difficulty on ironman or it'd be a rare thing to accomplish.

Was left unsupervised during the Steam Winter Sale...so I bought a few things - only been playing one really: EvE Online.

I'm reminded of all the frustrating bits that it doesn't include like most MMO's - protection against aggressive toolsheds being one, but overall...I've missed this game a great deal.

I did try out Grim Dawn and the re-mastered Homeworld collection, both of which are pretty great.

I downloaded Battleflet Gothic Armada the other night since it was 50% off. But I dunno if I like it, it seems really hard for me.. even on the easy setting. I lose pretty much every mission, i dunno what I'm doing wrong. It's like you're set up to fail so you just have to try and fail not so bad rather than miserably.

I just picked up a little early access game called Warbands: Bushido. It's a Turn based strategy game that has sort of a miniatures feel to it. You build a warband of samurai, archers, etc.. and play against other players. There's collecting involved as you buy booster packs for better units and order cards. So far, none of it requires real money other than the cost of the game ($6.99).

It's not bad, though the campaign system could use some work. I feel as though their focus is on skirmishing between players, and the campaign is an after thought.

No, I'm saying Titanfall 1 didn't have a campaign and that's why 2 isn't selling as well. The other games coming out at the same time didn't help but I still think having a multiplayer only first game hurt it too. Didn't hear about 3 being greenlit though, that's good news for them.

Yes, mimic beacons made all the difference in the world. They are literally life savers. I thought they were just some
Beacon that drew unseen enemies to them. Had no idea they were full holograms with a life bar. I think I'm very close to the end now.

Hint: Do Far Harbour last.

I'm running Nuka-World first so I can get it out the way before joining the Minutemen and carrying on (starting) the main quest line.

Other than that, the rest of them are mainly extra things to create. Whilst that's not a bad thing, per se, I don't find them as fulfilling as FH.

Got some extra time on my hands this weekend, so will probably pop back in and look at re-modelling the interiors of my starlight Drive-in, maybe see what else there is to do from NW before I turn round and start taking them all out. Starting with the Pack.

Sadly it doesn't have the DLC from what I can see. The Shadow Broker one in particular was very good. Not ME3 Citadel levels of greatness, in my opinion, but solid.

Still, is a great game.

Nice. Sounds amusing. If I was working and had an income, I might take a look at it.

I jumped online to play Titanfall 2 last night in a closed group with assorted extended family members. While I played my way through the campaign without too much trouble, I suck at online play.

Chorus: "How badly do you suck at online play?"

I suck so badly at online play that when I managed to kill someone, I mocked them over the microphone with the fact that *I* was the one that killed them, and not one of the other players in our group!

I also had to figure out Respawn's completely unintuitive method to getting your friends onto a private network that is invitation only (to make it easy in the future to gather my extended family members into a group for play without having to worry about random strangers trying to join the network). You can't just set it to Private, Unlisted, and send out invites. They can't browse specifically for that network (because it's unlisted). No, you have to go online to the Titanfall website, get the network URL from that website, and then send the URL to everyone you want to have join so that they can join on the Titanfall website using their console login. And if it weren't for a quick buried mention in the FAQ, I would have been completely clueless about the network listing on the website.

Going through Diablo III season 9... My usual approach is start a character in normal and burn through story mode as a warm up then bust into Torment level bounty stuff...

This time around I started the same... only this time, when going through story mode I looked for and listened for as much of the dialogue stuff... I didn't realize how much i missed from Act V until this play through...

Also doing a lot better with Monk than I've done before... even despite having stacked on 'strength' gems rather than 'dexterity' gems haha...

After 3 days of work I'm on Chapter IV of Season 9... instead of usually jumping into Torment right away I checked what objectives even needed it... so far I've been able to hover between expert and master for chapters I - III... Chapter IV now requires some Torment level stuff.

Tonight I'll finish off Chapter IV if I can... Oh and I guess some Overwatch before then to get my 3 guaranteed loot boxes from Arcade.

Divinity Original Sin in coop with my brother, where we both are lone wolves and well, for the sake of making things interesting, whenever dialogue between our two characters pops up, we take opposite points of view, just so we can have an awkward rock-scissor-paper match in front of the person in question.

So far this led to us killing the two drunk guards at the beach and attacking the chillest source user ever, who was just catching some rays on the beach, which ended with the two of us dead sadly, but so worth it.

A lot More HOI IV. The new colony/puppet system, I especialy like how you can use your puppet's manpower but design the devisions yourself. It makes them much more useful. Especially for Japan with Manchuko, Mengkukuo, China, and Siam/Thailand. They have loads of manpower, but not much production, and tend to just spam crappy units when left alone, but this way I can have loads of troops without running out of manpower (which tends to happen with the types of divisions I use).

Also, the modding community for it is pretty damn good. And pretty fool-proof to, as there is not over-writing of files, the worst that can happen is you screw up a save.

Fallout 4, man is the writing and quest design in that game subpar. Quests, and the dialogue, amount to "go do the thing", with hardly any side paths and exposition. It kind of hit me seeing someone play Oblivion (which was hardly the best in the series for it) just how poor Bethesda's recent titles have been in that regard. That and recollections of New Vegas, plus having played the Witcher series at the same time as the more recent Elder Scrolls (and thinking that Bethesda just weren't even trying in comparison).

In my opinion, it happened when they made the switch from written to spoken dialogue. Full Voice Acting is all well and good, but it's so much more expensive, and takes so much more time than a good written story or dialogue box. Morrowind has great story, and the only VA is the incidental stuff- the 'hello's and 'N'Wa's. You get a lot more story, a lot quicker.

Back to Total War: Attila, specifically the Age of Charlemagne expansion.

Did some time as Charlemagne, but it gets too easy after you take over his brothers lands. Started up a Kingdom of Mercia playthrough and have just conquered England, going to invade Ireland and then sail over to the Kingdom of the Danes and do some reverse history and raid/sack their lands, then move south and take on Charlemagne or do something crazy, like move further south and knock the Muslim factions out of the Iberian Peninsula.

For me, the voiced dialog in Fallout 4 also made it harder for me to role-play a character - because they all sound the same! and it's always "Dull surprise!". Difficult to imagine myself as a brainiac scientist or a charming ladies man, let alone a slightly chemmed-out villain, when I just sound so... mundane.

Anyway, I'm playing a new character, and I've made up a little base which is nice and cosy, then ratcheted up the difficulty, to make things a bit more interesting.

I think it's kind of "horses for courses" sort of thing. - For example, I kind of agree with you for Fallout 4. As a free roaming game, the whole idea is your character can be essentially anyone or anything.

On the other hand, Jennifer Hale IS Commander Shepard. BUT, on that, you've got 3 defined routes. - Goody Two-Shoes, Neutral, Rebel-with-a-cause. As such, the voice actor can play those consistently. And when they cross over into the others, they don't change too much.

One of the ones that's interesting is Dragon Age 2. - If I remember right, supposedly your initial two or 3 dialogue choices determine your Hawke's inflection for the rest of the game. No idea how that really works though. Seems expensive for a feature few people would notice.

It was a rather weird addition to the game. People have been asking for Beth to hire more voice actors and improve the quality since Oblivion, but I don't ever remember complaints about the player lacking voice acting, only speech options. It seems like they added it just so they could have something else to show off in ads/shows (because "Well written, immersive dialogue!" isn't a great thing to tack on the back of the box I guess ).

It's better written than FO3 though, so that's something I guess (although, let's be honest, a group of monkeys could write a better story than FO3).

Well. besides the crappy writing and general poor design, the main character having actual spoken lines is awful. My issue is that no matter what line you pick you're always so nice. I had that bloody smile animation they pull all the time. You can't RP a complete git; even the snark lines are just so cheerful. That's besides the game pushing you to either complete a quest with the happy ending, or the alternative be "or youknow, you could just kill everyone" - with no options in between.

The general criticism for Bethesda's newer releases is that they're aiming for far too broad an appeal. Fallout 4's yet another "open world shooter" - which is what every game these days wants to be. The issue is, their games were always along that theme, but at least had some depth, now they're as generic as every other game on the market (not to say their previous titles were all that amazing either. Morrowind at the time was reviewed along the same lines, and Daggerfall's mostly procedural generated locations and quests).

But yes, in summary - The Witcher series, done by a smaller developer who know they don't need to aim for such mass market appeal, is miles better than what Bethesda were releasing at the same time. Bethesda's games lean far too heavy on the "games designed by committee" vibe. Its not the engine (well, sort of, it is a bit bunk) or the settings though, as decent devs like Obsidian can make games which're miles better. Unfortunately I've not heard anything about a third party making their own game based on the Fallout 4 engine (perhaps because Bethesda arbitrarily consider New Vegas a failure because it was 1% off a pre-determined metacritic score).

Just finished playing Steins Gate for the first time on my Vita. I wanted to go in blind the first time, and of course I get arguably one of the harshest (and ambiguous) endings between all of them. DANGIT. Every time. I got the bad ending on Persona 4 Golden by accident the same way. I'm just glad that I made a lot of saves throughout the game so I can try out the rest now without having to start all over.

Spoiler:
Seeing Okabe get slowly pushed to the edge of insanity from that time loop was pretty painful to read, especially when he has dark thoughts about doing things to Suzuha. I feel like they could have given a little more detail for what happens after he leaves with Suzuha, given that she's one of my favourite characters in the story. At the very least, it'd be nice to know that even if both lost their memory that they were happy together.

I feel the exact same way. The Witcher 3 is definitely a lot more consistent to the character you're playing and you're able to slight nuances in his decision that don't completely change who Geralt is at the end of the day. You definitely feel the impact of your actions a lot more I find in the Witcher rather than Fallout 4 or Skyrim, at least in terms of how they show it later on in the story.

I sincerely hope we get to see some form of New Vegas for Fallout 4, Obsidian did such a good time before, it'd be a shame if they didn't have another crack at it. Though I guess Bethesda might be embarrassed at being blown out of the water again.

I finished Shadow of Mordor, to 100% complete, which I think might be the first time I've ever done a 100%. I actually really enjoyed it - It plays a little loose with Canon at times, but mostly in a forgivable way, and not enough to aggravate my inner Tolkien-purist! I thoroughly enjoyed the challenges, and how you really can use almost any method to kill targets. The gameplay was fun, challenging in places, and the characters were quite engaging. A little short perhaps, and I'm not sure on replay value - I think I'll play around with Rune-hunting rather than start over, and I reckon it'll take a while longer to get tired of lethal shadow strikes, and ledge kills!

I agree. While I enjoyed FO3 and 4, the story and world building in NV was obviously superior. Too bad they rushed it out and were unable to develop Caesar's territory and faction into anything more than a caricature of the most evil guys ever.

Just started Besiege. The way the game handles some stuff is wierd, like stacked wheels, rotation speed of basically every object, and weight for the purposes of flying machines, but the campaign is providing lots of interesting challenges and there are a lot of fun things to do in free play. I've seen so much crazy stuff that people have built that I can sometimes get discouraged, but then I see how far I've gone from when I first tried the game and feel better.

Played a bit of Space Station 13 yesterday, was nice to get back in to it. /tg/station is still the hive of scum and villainy it always is, in all the best ways for a game like SS13-- just enough moderation to make the game play well, but enough free reign for the players that it becomes chaotic and unpredictable quite easily.

I had an idea.
I've got the five Elder Scrolls games, and Skyrim is modded to have a beefed up final battle with Alduin. It's also got a mod called Familiar Faces, which lets you save characters and (hopefully) allows them to meet in-game and potentially act as followers.
So, if I could complete the other Elder Scrolls games before Skyrim is finished (though maybe not 100%-ing them), then by using Skyrim's console command and Familiar Faces, I can find a way to bring the characters I've played in the various games into Skyrim, which would serve as a sort of finale. If I can figure out a method to do so without crashing the game, maybe I can toss these previous characters into the final battle with Alduin too.
It's a silly idea, but I'm a sucker for large finales.

Just started playing some Conan Exiles. The developers definitely saw some of the shortcomings of Ark and fixed them. Combat is really good with dual wielding and multiple attack types. Crafting is much easier to understand, building structures is much easier than in Ark. Game performance is really good for being brand new to early access, i bumped the graphics from high to ultra and could not notice an fps loss.

Finished Final Fantasy XV the other day. The finished sections are probably some of the single greatest things to come out of the franchise, but a lot of the game is definitely still in draft form. Overall, I think the high points of the game (gameplay, world and character interactions) are high enough to put rank it in the top half of the core games in the series, even though the low points (story presentation) are some of the worst in the franchise.

That sounds incredible. I'd say you'd have difficulty playing all the other Elder Scrolls before ES:VI, but then again, that's not gonna be out for, like, another Decade.

Have you played any of the others? Arena and Daggerfall are both available for free from Bethesda themselves, and Morrowind's relatively cheap from wherever. No idea about Oblivion's current price, that's one where I still have the original.

Word of warning, though- this is about a 30 year old series, one of the FIRST major Western RPGs, which means it created a lot of the mechanics you see today, through trial and error. Arena is best played with both hands on the keyboard (coming from an age before the mouse) and you'll probably have to bump the tic rate up in DOSBox. Read/watch some tutorials on it- it's confusing and difficult to figure out otherwise, since it originally came with a manual.

Daggerfall- well, I haven't played that one, but be aware that the surface area of explorable terrain is about 3x the size of Great Britain- Fast Travel is required, and as it is procedurally generated, you can't count on walkthroughs for everything. It's also very, very confusing. The good news is, it has Timey Wimey shenanigans in it, meaning it would make perfect sense for your character from that to show up in the Future.

Morrowind is amazing. I seriously think it's the best of the Elder Scrolls series, at least in terms of writing and atmosphere- get some of the mods for it to update the combat, textures and environments, and you'll think it was a modern AAA title. This game also gives a good reason for your character to show up, since
Spoiler:
they wind up Immortal by the end of the game
. I've got a Let's Play going, if you wanted to give it a watch. I try to explain the more esoteric mechanics as I can, so who knows- it might help you out a little. Big thing to remember- Enchanted items regenerate charge on their own- Magicka does not.

You've probably played Oblivion, so I won't mention that- though I do think it's not nearly as good as Morrowind, though that's mostly just my opinion, and an unpopular one at that.

And of course you know Skyrim.

Ahh, Tarhiel. And the Scrolls of Icarian Flight.

There's a couple sweet little easter eggs in the game, that they managed to fit into the lore really, really well- like the pipes that say "Wormgod" throughout the dwemer ruins, or the memorial on the door of Arnkthang.

Started playing Subnautica. I bought it shortly after it came out on Steam, but have been waiting for it to get closer to completion before "diving" into it.

Having lots of fun, but it's also rather tense at times. I always get tensed up a bit in underwater locations in games, because there's always something about to jump out at you it seems, and I don't handle jump scares well.

So when reached the first really deep area (where you can't see the bottom from the surface), I was all nervous while diving and panicked when I saw my first reefback and swam like hell away.

I downloaded Conan Exiles last night. I'm still trying to figure out what's going on. I was expecting a real persistent world MMO like WOW where you have quests and a storyline and stuff, but there's like no storyline at all. You're just some naked guy/girl and you run around chopping down trees and building little houses? Doesn't really seem to be any sense of adventure like I was expecting.

And then, you run your own server? You can play on someone elses, but if they decide to not play tomorrow, you start off from scratch all over again on someone else's server, and then rinse & repeat?

Just not getting it yet I guess.

Pretty much. It's a survival and crafting game. There have been a number of them lately - Minecraft and Ark are both examples. There are lore elements scattered around the world. But there's no plot.

Combat is good? Its basically flailing away until the other guys dies. yes you can block and (awkwardly) dodge but its terribly buggy so its basically 'left click until someone dies'.

I also wouldn't call performance really good. Loading times are astronomical and I am getting a lot of artifacts and muddy textures on ultra settings. There is a lot of stutter while parts of map loads as well.

I am however enjoying it for all its annoyances, bugs and obviously broken/rudimentary features.

I spent ages working my way to thralls (which require a lot of unlocks to craft the required equipment) yet when I finally 'break' a thrall I find that there are very limited options, I can't even give her equipment or get her to gather rocks for me. At the moment she is standing on top of my house half naked. It is an area that will apparently be expanded on in the next major patch but still it was very annoying to have put all that effort in for very little reward.

i haven't had the same performance problems as you, i get a slight slowdown when i sprint to new areas while they load, sometimes the textures do get a bit blurry but that has been it. No slow load times at all.

Thralls have classes and they are only able to do that one thing, it is a bit hard to judge what class an NPC is without getting really close. I also find i get a bit carried away with the club to knock them out and kill far more than i intend to.

I have found a use for my thralls. The part of the map that I have set up my camp has loads of archers and they are easy to capture so I have set up a firing line on the roof of my house which I use to depopulate the local area of spiders by kiting them into firing range.

Its far safer than meleeing them.....

I finished Telltale Batman tonight.

Overall, I'm kind of conflicted about it. Batman is very much one of those things that I'm really rather passionate about.

So, it is well made, no technical issues, none of that stuff. And if you're not an uber Bat geek, you'll probably have a great time with it.

Me, personally though... Yeah, conflicted about it. They took several major character changes and differences from, I guess I should put it as, my preferred mythos of Batman and, well, I don't really think the changes for the better.

Some characters were done well, some... less so. (In my opinion).

Overall, I think even the story from the Arkham games win. There's so much material from those games that are just effectively my own personal canon now, they just win.

Still continued on Crusader Kings, and we just had our first crusade.
... It was embarrasing.
You would think having around 20 vassals would be a good thing. I signed on in order to get in a better standing with the church, but almost immediately, things went downhill. we were against the Fatmids, and somehow their levy armies were as high as 3000+ soldiers. One terrifying juggernaught of a force somehow amassed 23000 soldiers! Seeing this commitment as a waste of resources, I poked at a settlement a couple of times to make some sort of contribution and left immediately, but everyone else involved decided to throw an unrelenting charge at the Fatmids.
In total, there were around 16 lost battles, and only one victory. The pope called off the crusade soon after.

As an RPG, yeah, a lot better. Oblivion and Skyrim are basically sorts of Hack'n'slashers with a lot of customization and a storyline, but there's not as much freedom to choose how you go about doing things. Like, in Morrowind, I could potentially go through the game as a merchant, buying and selling, collecting alchemy ingredients and bits from dwemer ruins, running from major fights, then using those proceeds to buy powerful potions, enchantments, and scrolls to do the major story-mode combats with. Can't really manage that in Skyrim, I imagine. Even the Stealth route in Skyrim is more about sneakily dealing damage, rather than avoiding confrontations.

That and recollections of New Vegas, plus having played the Witcher series at the same time as the more recent Elder Scrolls (and thinking that Bethesda just weren't even trying in comparison).

Oh at last! Someone who says it. In so far I've only seen blokes willing to kneel at Bethesda. Seriously, outside NV, the only remotely good title we've had was oblivion (and even then it was already marking downhill).

Have you played Morrowind? It's been years but my sense of it (and a general online consensus) is Morrowind is one of the better RPGs out there. The story was pretty decent (although the main quest only really made sense if you were a Dunmer).

I remember liking the story and RPG-ness (not a word, I know) of Morrowind over Oblivion (and Skyrim). Oblivion and Skyrim aren't bad games, but they could have been so much more.

If I might play devil's advocate though, I must say the game does take a bit of getting used to if you're new to it. Expect a lot of attacks to miss early on, and you'e walking pace to be... not the best. Of course, if you have the patience, I've heard you gradually become much, much more powerful as the game progresses.

I think that might be part of the draw for the game. It really gives you such a sense of progression, going from someone who has to treat Mudcrabs as a serious threat, to a literal godslayer.

Picked up Nioh yesterday and it's a blast. Combat is a step slower than Dark Souls, but in a good way, due to being able to change stances which opens up more combat variety than Dark Souls.

Rainbow Six: Siege.

The two new Spanish Operators are pretty interesting. The Defender is far more useful in Terrorist Hunt(my preferred game mode) than the Attacker(half the AI seem to leave no footprints for Jackal to track ).

Attacker and Defender are equally awesome in MP though.

So I was a silly, and pre-loaded the Open Beta for For Honor. Then tried playing it, and was very confused when it didn't play.

I was all, "Comeon! I downloaded it, I verified it, the Open Beta's from the 9th to the 12th... Let me play it!"

... It was the 7th.

I'm a derp.

Seriously looking forwards to For Honor, though.

Oh no. I am a sad little K'niggit.

So I have the open Beta of For Honor, and I can... technically play it... But even on lowest settings, I have extremely low, often sub-30 FPS, and some sort of odd mouse-lag (maybe, I might just be terrible at playing as of yet).

Now, the framerate might be 'fixed' by, like, not recording with Fraps while playing. Except I wanna put For Honor on my channel!

Eh. I was wanting a new computer anyways.

It's for me at least a fun MMO that's quite low on grind and allows for one character to do all classes and sidejobs, so you're not stuck with one character having one class and all that.

There is a lot of lore, each quest comes with text dumps of exposition and whatnot, but I usually click through these.

It's well worth trying, as the core game is €10,- and comes with a month for free, giving you ample time to give it a try, at a minimal investment.

Also, old pic, but you get to ride the Chocobo as a mount and it's given out early in the game.

I enjoyed it a lot. It's very well put together, imo. The graphics are gorgeous. And there are constant free updates (provided you have the needed expansion) to the main storyline. I'd say that it's my favorite MMO.

The reason I'm not playing it now largely has to do with the end game. The end game is a bit schizoid. Parts of it are clearly aimed at the non-hard core elite gamer. But other parts focus on the tendency of Asian MMOs to embrace the grind. If you're not careful, it's *very* easy to get yourself sucked in and spend waaaay too much time online playing.

As for the artisan and gathering classes, be aware - they're easy to get to 50. But once you get past that (i.e. into the expansion levels), they're going to get a lot more difficult.

The second expansion is due out later this year. Entitled "Stormblood", the focus will be on Ala Mihgo. Yoshi P, the head of the development team, has apparently been dropping hints about Red Mages.

Well, I don't play a lot of video games, and my one console is packed up since we move on Friday from Colorado to Texas. But, thank goodness for phone emulators. It is nice to go back and replay some good classic PS1 games. I am still shocked how good some of the games can look when condensed down onto a smaller screen. The opening to Lunar 2: Eternal Blue brought back some good memories, and I am excited to start my journey through a game I never got to finish.

I just just think of it as it's own universe or "elseworld". Even the Arkham games are their own "Arkhamverse". If you go in knowing that it's its own thing then it's enjoyable.

Long War 2 on Xcom 2 on 2nd hardest difficulty on ironman mode. I don't get a lot of time to play it for like a whole month but it's a tough mod. I seem to get owned some time around tier 2 armor and weapons.

Went for my first supply raid which only had like a day to fight. I basically only had 3 conscious soldiers left at the end and everybody else was bleeding out save for 3 guys that already bled out (you have up to 10 soldiers to take on it and it's probably one of the roughest missions i could attempt). It was rough but it seems like it paid off. Holy crap though there was a lot of enemies.

That doesn't mean I'm a particular fan of this interpretation of the universe. Like, for example, I like Flashpoint Paradox Thomas Wayne Batman in the context of the Flashpoint Paradox story, but I don't particularly want to see a great deal of the continuing adventures of Thomas Wayne Batman.

Recently finished darkest dungeon (right before the radiant patch). It was immensly satisfying to rip apart the final boss with my abomination. Damn the game was depressing and double damn I freaking beat it with no guide help. Anyone looking to try it out or get back into it should do so now. There's a big dlc pack, added content and a new faster game mode just released.

Went ahead to some house of many doors, which is awesome but needs a little bit of time for patching and bug fixing. So I put it down for...

Thea the awakening. I love it. Currently playing on true god of Thea difficulty and having to weigh my options and plan every step of the way. It's amazing to think what such a small team could accomplish. Right now all the dlc for it is free and I highly recommend it for anyone that's into the early stages of a civ game.

How is the single player? This is one game I've been looking at with interest for this year, and I'd so hate for it to be overly short, have little replay value and the like... Especially since I'd get it on console, and cannot play multiplayer.

Why couldn't you play Multiplayer? It's cross-platform- or do you not have internet access?

I do know that the AI are actually pretty characterful- at least from the open beta. And the fighting system is the sort of thing that's very properly based in skill, so you could probably get some good value from just learning to be very, very good with each character.

I think 10 is the max but i'd only recommend doing so if you don't have a lot of time to infiltrate an area. Also i'd probably suggest you only infiltrate an area if you need it and the time is good. Supply raids and terror missions are exceptions but that's when you need to bring everybody.

Oooh skip random battles and 3x fast forward? Cool. I always liked warpspeeding through random fights to make the grind session on old rpgs less tedious. Generally something you have to be emulating for so it's kinda cool to see it in a port.

Finished a preliminary run through hyperdimension neptunia rebrith v2...or something approximately like that. Liked the first one better, and the third one is shaping up to be more entertaining too. Playing that on and off now. I could do with less double barrel fanservice and skimpy outfits but...I mean that's half of the game..and they self reference it so its amusing on its own I guess. I love watching the lengthy attack animations and when you get tired of them... you can just left controller button them to skip, muahaha. In fact, you can skip every trivial combat attack in the game, speeds things up if you're getting bored fighting. It's an amusing game that has lots of references and jokes about the game industry in general, Deadpool has Nothing on Neptune in terms of violating the fourth wall

Been looking for a replacement once v3 is done, the fairy fencer F games have potential but that new one wants 6gb of ram lol... my system is not built for anything so intense. You can probably playthrough+ the neptunia games into oblivion but I usually get bored with all of the grinding. I guess I can wait to catch one of the disgaea games on sale.

Installed fallout new vegas and I'm slowly trawling through that when I'm not in the mood for JRPGs. Got all those DLCs, may try to get to them.

Yeah, that's one of the two big changes I'm really unhappy about with Telltale Batman. The other involves the main villain.

I've been playing Total War: Warhammer over the past week or so, since it's $12 as part of the humble monthly bundle.

I really, really like it. It's got me really invested in the warhammer world again.

Then I remember GW blew it up and feel sad.

But really, it's a good game, the main issue I'd have with it is, if I'd paid the original retail price for it, I'd be very, very, very grumpy with it. It's been maybe 3 weekends now. I've completed 2(!) campaigns with the 'long' campaign victory. - The dwarfs and the Empire. That's half the non dlc races in the game and each one probably took maybe a fifth the time of the standard Total War campaigns.

I've started up a vampire counts campaign now, reconquered Sylvania in the first handful of turns, expanded out a bit to the west and already I'm in striking distance of Nuln and, from there, Altdorf. I mean, wow. Seriously, wow. Short game is short. I think it's not helped by the 'regional settlement' rules, effectively the grand campaign map is split into halves, there's the 'human V undead' bit and the 'dwarfs v orcs' bit. And even then, there's no real reason for the dwarfs to go to the human lands, or the human lands to go south to the dwarf area.

There also seems to be no reason to go to Bretonnia or fight the Wood Elves at all. So, effectively, the 'Grand Campaign' for the Empire, wholely involves fighting in... The Empire. I don't even think I needed to go to Kislev.

When I'm playing the Empire, I find that I *have* to get at least a little involved with Brettonia. There's always at least one local lord that decides to go attacking the nearby Empire provinces, and examples have to be made. This typically involves razing the offender's city so that I don't then have to defend it from the other nearby Brettonians.

The Wood Elves typically become a problem late game after the Chaos incursion is dealt with, and everyone else is in poor shape.

I'm curious how Brettonia will play given its isolation from everyone else.

The biggest problem with Bretonnia is that it is entirely made up of 2 settlement provinces.

Played some more of long war 2 mod of xcom 2. Managed to do another supply raid. Expanded territory although sadly that territory and the soldier defending it got wiped out trying to root out some enemy spies.

I finally got a stun lancer body i can autopsy. So right now i have vipers, stun lancer, muton, officer, trooper and the little drones bots. I think that's it for now.

What's better: Long War 1 or Long War 2?

I never played the one in enemy unknown. Btw i just lost another campaign. 3-4 supply raids and the last one took out all but 2-3 of my guys and then a few missions where i either lost guys or had them left behind. I was just going too slowly i think which is sad. Perhaps i need to have more intel or get more scientists or engineers. I honestly have no idea.

What sucks the most is i finally got them all the right gear after losing so much gear on one mission and i finally got a bunch of magnetic weapons and bam avatar progress finishes. Jesus christ this campaign is hard. Only had 5 territories. Trying to recruit more guys on each so i can make each have a greater impact. Anyway long war 2 is extremely hard even on 2nd hardest difficulty on ironman. I'm saying this as a guy that can do hardest difficulty on ironman fairly well.

I'd say the biggest issue i have is figuring out the new tech tree. It's much larger in many ways than the one in the normal game. I think all stun lancers give is a better melee weapon but it requires a stun lancer to make each one and their numbers are very infrequent. You'll have a ridiculous number of advent trooper corpses however. All advent troop types aside from shieldbearer, officer and stun lancer turn into a trooper corpse and there's a ton (heavy gunner, rocketeer, sentry, trooper, grenadier and i think guardian). I can't remember much of what sectoids do other than give psychic stuff as per usual. Officers are needed for incendiary grenades and skulljacks as well as maybe a couple other things. Trooper is needed for some extra hp or something. Mutons are used for armor (i think it was the one that gives hp and a point of armor; plated armor) and they have the plasma nades as per usual as well as the combat knife upgrade for your gunners. I think the shieldbearer drops the armor that heals hp and maybe something else (ammo rounds that do more damage vs biological?). Sadly i don't think i saw any tier 2 upgrades for sawed off shotgun which was one of my favorite weapons for early game (rangers with smg and sawed off shotguns). Not sure what unlocked tier 2 sniper targeter either but i think it's researching basic mag weapons and it seems to unlock tier 2 technical gauntlet (better damage). I think the tier 2 arc thrower is either unlocked by basic mag weapons or stun lancer but not sure. Redscreen rounds (rounds that reduce hacking needs and do more damage vs bots) and tier 2 gremlins come from researching the enemy drones. Not sure what advent mecs give. I don't think i researched vipers this time but i think they have some kind of poison gear. I can't remember if i ever found out what faceless give. Perhaps it's actually something worthwhile considering they gave mimic beacons in normal xcom 2. Perhaps they have the upgrade for sawed off shotgun (i doubt it but i don't know). Wouldn't i look silly if it was?

If i recall flaming grenades seem like they'd be better now considering all the special abilities of advent troopers and how they'd most likely shut down if you used them.

I actually think i need more scientists next run. Probably a lot more than the engineers i have and get. I just found myself needing better gear eventually. The ranger's sawed off doesn't do enough when you are between laser and magnetic weapons.

So i dunno. Do i need more scientists? Do i need more supplies per turn? Is there something about resistance management that i just don't quite get? I'm trying to recruit more guys into the resistance havens until i have about 7-9 of them and seeing if they can get supplies or intel once i have that many. I also think doing too many supply raids did me in. They give plenty but some of those supply raids weren't needed and a go for scientists or engineers or intel may have been much more helpful. At the end i was hurting for alloys but elerium was plentiful. Wish it wanted me to sell it to the black market and sad it didn't.

Anyway it's a rough game and i'm fascinated but sadly i'm only able to play about twice a week until i get back home. Visiting nowhere's-ville for over a month sucks. I have no games and nothing to do 5 out of 7 days a week. Seriously at best i may be able to make 2 more small models and then play starcraft 1.

I've started playing Third Age Total War as the High Elves. Currently attacking some peasant village to boost my economy, which is working out fairly well. My elven archers are doing most of the work, having destroyed much of the enemy force by themselves. That's only the basic ones, so I can't wait to see what the elite archers are capable of doing.

I'll be sure to use them in multiplayer, then. Started a Dale campaign now, because I didn't really like the elven playstyle and I'm horrible with finishing Total War campaigns.

Dale are great fun, granted you will be in for a few rough spots since they have no real solid heavy infanteri for some time. But they are great fun to play with.

Been playing the Ghost reckon open beta, and I am not overly impressed so far. Not sure if I will be spending money on this game as it looks and feels very dated, but hopefully that is something that they will manage to deal with before launch.

It's a good thing i did it single player because i always forget how utterly awful i am at this game. Sorry for stabbing you and then falling off of a bridge, coach.

More playing xcom 2's long war 2 mod. More me getting my *** kicked. I lost 2 campaigns today both when i tried supply raid. In the first case i got discovered at a bad time and revealed. In the other there was only maybe 4-5 guys left of probably 40+ or more and i had no technicals to lower their numbers easily.

I picked up Resident Evil 7 yesterday and it does not disappoint. Normally not a big fan of horror, but this game does it quite well, giving off an awesome Evil Dead vibe that the creators thankfully acknowledged with an appropriate "GROOVY" quote at the right moment.

This should keep me occupied until next Tuesday when Wildlands is released.

Looks like I was wrong about Resident Evil 7, beat it yesterday. Bit miffed that I've gunned through it in two days, but still overall a good game and while a bit on the short side, it doesn't drag on too long like Alien Isolation did.

Try some of the DLC. Most of it isn't long, but it adds some cool "filler" moments that tie up some of the other character's loose ends.

Got Blood Bowl II on Steam yesterday as a way to practice for RL Blood Bowl games. I've found that even when things go horribly wrong on the tabletop, it's much, much less aggravating than when electronic RNG decides to give you skulls on your block dice every time.

Except for that one game where I scored 9 casualties on a human team and basically retired them, seeing as they suffered 2 deaths and several negative stat modifiers.

Is there character customization in Wildlands? I think there is because I've seen a bunch of YouTubers playing with different character models. And how conducive is it to solo play?

What are you playing right now? @ 2017/03/08 08:04:50

Post by: BrookM

Character customisation is quite extensive. You can pick a gender, skintone, eye colour, hair colour and style, tattoos, clothing etc. And ingame, aside from gender and chosen face, you can change anything you want in terms of clothing, face paint and whatnot as much as you like on the fly.

Been playing it myself a bit now, only played through the first region to unlock the rest of the map, waiting on my brother's account to unlock again, which Ubisoft had taken away from him after they decided it was pirated or hacked, due to the amount of times he had to reinitialise the files yesterday, which was at their suggestion no less.. Day One release problems indeed.

So far I've just been collecting medals, certain weapon upgrades and hitting convoys and whatnot, levelling up my Ghost so that I won't be as useless as I was during the open beta. While my brother has a thing for sniping and drone recon, I've decided to go with up close and personal, going for maxed out stamina, silent running, improved hip-firing and whatever else I need in case I'm in an enemy camp and it all goes ploin shaped. Having found the SPAS 12 certainly helps.

Currently installing all the DLC for Dragon Age Inquisition. This is not what I needed a week before the Andromeda trial starts, but when it's £8 in the Xbox store for over £30 of DLC, I can't exactly say no! Even if I don't get through it all now, I plan a more complete run over the summer anyway, so I may just take my completed save out of retirement for Trespasser, and leave the others for later.

There's quite some customisation in the game. But not extremely extensive. Most variance is found in clothes.

The game is perfectly made for co-op and is great fun played that way. In Solo play it's okay, but the AI teammates are quite... dumb as they usually do nothing by themselves unless you actually tell them to shoot.

So the best experience you'll get is with 1 or more friends, or join an open lobby.

I've been playing the Bretonnians in Total War. It started off well, but it's kinda gone horrendously wrong now that chaos has shown up. The Empire were horrendously incompetent and have just flattened, without even confederating.

And now, I've got pretty much no income and a chaos incursion incoming. The good news is, I think I can just simply fight my way through to the chaos wastes and win the game, as the whole Chivalry thing reached 1000 super easily.

I just finished the Bretonnian campaign in Warhammer Total War.

Weird victory conditions, really, really weird victory conditions - I finished circa turn 131.

Basically, most of the game was spent in Bretonnia. I united that, then hit Altdorf and the Reikland, followed by Talabheim. And that, plus Marienburg, is all the territory I conquered outside of Bretonnia.

The Empire was terrible throughout the campaign, didn't even properly unite together. Vampires, the same. - Heck, Templehof was still a thing by the campaign's end.

So, Chaos turned up, marched across the world, wrecking all the things. Burned down Talabheim.

And all I needed to do to win the campaign? Basically send Leouncouer's army, plus an accompanying army, across the map to fight a single scripted battle.

Job done, game over.

So a question to anyone playing Ghost Reckon Wildlands, I got to the mission where you are meant to dispose of La Plaga(spelling?) and I am wondering, are there any other path to him than having to murder all his goons, and thus avoiding the chase down the tunnel? They are software company focused on turn-based wargame-type games, mostly historical but they also have some Warhammer 40k games as well. Really great discount of Armageddon (think 66% off), which is basically Panzer Corps in terms of how it works, but I think well worth the money!

There are two options available, as the chase through the tunnel is a part of that section of the game:
1. Drive like an old lady and just waste him at the end of the route.

2. Play it in coop and have someone else wait for him at the end of the tunnel, preferably by placing a mine at the exit, or lying in wait with an LMG.

I'd send a drone with explosives after him, but I think the tunnel is too long for the signal to carry.

Though come to think, when I replayed the first boss fight in coop (fat witch and skinny witch in their torture dungeon), I did find out that flashbangs can also stun bosses, nailing fat witch to the spot so she couldn't man the minigun covering the door. Maybe try lobbing flashbangs into the garage before he can mount his bike? Though chances are it's all part of a scripted event, so he'll drive away regardless.

Played most of yesterday afternoon and evening Wildlands in coop, though it has been a bit of a slog right now sadly, as my brother and his friend are more concerned with hunting down every upgrade and medal in the region as opposed to doing missions. Also quite random what region we're hitting, really had to nag a bit to get them to do all missions in a single region first, as opposed to the shotgun approach.

Oh well..

I've been exploring solo for the most part, having hit level 30 this morning, with still plenty to discover and collect, not to mention exterminate. I've also decided to hunt down missions on my own now, as at the rate they're going we'll never finish the game any time soon.

The many levels I have over the others is a good thing though, as it means I can at least complement their skills and designations as best as possible. Though I much prefer to sneak in and snap necks as I go, until one of them messes up.

I hear you. I was playing with some random people yesterday. Initially there was just two of us. I was on a hilltop providing sniper cover, taking out people in towers and pillboxes kind of thing, whilst the other guy got in closer and was droning to highlight targets before starting to infiltrate the base.

Then a third player joins. He decides to stand next to me and fire an unsuppressed sniper rifle and also misses his target, who gets into cover, zeroes our location and calls in reinforcements. So then two full SUVs of goons shows up from behind us whilst some of the base soldiers come out of the base in front of us.

Goddamn noobs who don't know how to play

I prefer to play with friends or solo for that reason. Plus, it means I don't have to explain that yes, while I prefer stealth, I mainly pack a M4 with grenade launcher and compensator (so no silencer) + SPAS 12, relying on my pistol for the sneaking bit.

I'm also still working on my sniper skills, the drop in some cases is weird to say the least. A target half a click away will fly straight, but one less than 200 meters away will drop like mad.

Far Cry 3, a few years on.

Damn, I can see the start of so many Ubisoft clichés in this game...

The first time around I quite liked the game. Now the story's even more ridiculous (and fairly stunted, like it just wants to rush you along to the next action game check box), whilst the wider game feels like hollow achievement hunting.

Far Cry 4 is my favorite of the series. The villain is a superb Bond-esque character.

Playing GR: Wildlands but like BrookM said the gathering of things can get a little tedious, especially the gathering of massive amounts of resources for skills. Its a fun game but a few things hold it back from being a great game, such as the AI spotting mechanic and the dialogue being repeated 50 million times. "This medal looks like it came from a box of cereal, or the airforce or something!" I heard you the first 100 times aaarrgggh I'm this close to getting submersible nightmares. Seems geared towards coop which to me is the best way to play.

I love how much of the game is spent dealing on the consequences of your actions- and the time you spend wishing things could have gone differently. There was this corrupt Duke, and for a while I thought I could convince his stylish bodyguard to join me.... but it wasn't meant to be. And so many of these bad guys have significant others willing to hire assassins!

Just goes to show that it never pays being bad to your spouse, when there is a party of well armed people willing to undertake shady contracts.

I also finished GR Wildlands and I too now suffer from nigthmares about cerela boxes, submersibels and insane drivers. But I dare say Bowman have made me lolzs on several occations. Unlike my team mates whom seems more intent on driving me insane

I'm still playing through the Division, but about to wrap it up. Did all of the main missions and most of the side ones, I tried the dark zone but not feelin it. Looks like they have some multiplayer missions I might try.

One of my biggest issues with the game though, and it's the same thing for other games where the combat is similar like Mass Effect or Gears of War.. you get behind cover, and then you get stuck to it and can't get out of the way fast enough when you need to.

Assuming you haven't already done it, be sure to play the Trespasser DLC. It's a fantastic conclusion to the story, there's some amazing character moments, an epic finale and a perfect setup for the next game. One of the best pieces of DLC I've ever seen.

I did. I had the Game of the Year edition so I didn't realize I was playing it so I just thought it was a little epilogue. A little 12 hour epilogue....That's why the credits rolled twice.

Everyone who likes story driven games should play Until Dawn. It's a great game based on all the slasher flick tropes. Actions taken early in the game have effects far down the line. Can you keep all eight characters alive until the sun comes up?

Seconding Until Dawn. Fantastic game, I had one or two problems with it (one of the keep still prompts towards the end is rather cheap) but still an amazing experience

This is a serious question, not sarcastic. I've gone back and forth on trying Until Dawn. I love story driven games; i absolutely loathe slasher movies, with a passion. Would it still be worthwhile?

Replayed the final mission of Wildlands after they rolled out a patch earlier today that fixed a lot of stuff, plus implemented some things that really were needed (like being able to select what kind of vehicle the rebels drop off, chopper isn't always the answer). Lo and behold, I got the good ending this time around.

I've also in the meantime scrounged up everything on the map. Aside from getting the last skills (which takes annoying amounts of supply chopper and convoy hunting) I've done all I can do in the game for the time being.

At least until the DLC arrives.

We're still playing it in coop whenever we can, so there's that.

All in all, despite it being a generic open world experience for the most part, I really enjoy this game. It will no doubt be run into the ground like other franchises over time, but at least this one is good fun and while it does nothing new or exciting, it does it well enough for me for the most part.

The main character also has some delicious lines from time to time..

"WE SPEND BILLIONS ON HAND SANITIZER ALONE! PORK BARRELS F*CKFACE!"

There's also Bowman, who gets a lot of gak from your team, but she also has some of the best moments whenever you bring someone in for "debriefing", which may include pliers, a blowtorch or her being a massive fangirl.

Finally.. I quite like that the game isn't about saving the day or exactly doing the right thing for everybody involved. You're there to remove the cartel from the food chain and that's it really. feth the locals and their problems, they're not yours. feth Pac and his commie rebels, though the main character does make some funny remarks about this towards Bowman. The game isn't about you saving the day, or how killing a few guys will magically make everything right, it's about you taking revenge and playing out operation RECIPROCITY from Clear and Present Danger. The only thing missing is shooting a laser guided bomb towards a monster truck while Willem Dafoe acts as mission control.

Absolutely. It's still a horror movie, but has a lot of neat twists and turns. You could easily rent it and beat it in about 3 days.

Probably. It's pretty cheap now (mine was ~$20 CAN used) and unless you are an obsessive collector, (like me. I must have all the shinies!) you can knock it out in one good weekend of gaming.

The "slasher" part is pretty minimal. It's got good psychological scares in it. There's even a scene near the beginning where the psychiatrist (played impressively by Peter Stormare, of Fargo fame) quizzes you on what you find scary or unpleasant and the game tailors itself to those responses.

That said, there are some pretty gruesome ways to kill your characters, so YMMV.

That's the one they fixed. A friend played the game early on and had the same complaint. I had no issue.

If I have one complaint about the game it's the fact you can't seem to skip cutscenes. When you are replaying the game for the 4th time for completeness sake, it gets tiresome.

Spoiler:
How did you manage to get Josh killed? I'm trying to get the Everyone Dead ending and I don't think having Josh 'survive' as a Wendigo doesn't count.

It might have been another bug, but

Almost Friday! Got one of the Golden Planets to 100% already, but hate having to wait for other people to do stuff before I can progress certain missions. And I have numerous incidental missions that I have forgotten where I picked them up, and the journal isn't any help. the only way is to visit the worlds I have been on before and use the map to find the map markers. Still, skidding around on the ice in the new version of the Mako is great fun. Drifting round Kett encampments, flattening them. I can't spend a lot of time doing that though, there is just so much research that has to be done.

Think I'm going to have to go to a previously unvisited system to get to fresh research opportunities if I want that X variant armour that I can research, and what seems to be the best sniper rifle. The rifle I am using at the moment uses a whole thermal clip each shot, and the round takes so long to get to most targets, I am half way through reloading before it hits, but it's definitely a one hit = one kill rifle.

Playing dark souls as a sorcerer.
Its ok. On one hand, magic is disgustingly good against bosses, as I can just kite them and spam great soul arrow

On the other hand, my character is pretty fragile, and relies on evasion to survive, but I guess that's the point.
I find fast thrusting weapons are best, due to the speed and range

Pretty awesome though. I'm an Engineer with a cannon and a giant hammer!

Trying to get through the first Gothic game. Despite the controls, it's pretty good. I especially like the way the game handles the different factions as actually different factions, with their own identity and rules.
I've hit a bit of a grinding section though. Gothic 1 works awfully well as a sort of hunting simulator, but going after the same raptor-like chickens is a bit of a pain.

Finally finished the main questline in MEA last night. So looking forward to MEA2 already. OK, time to finish up those side quests and get Andromeda to 100% Viability whilst starting to learn the MP game.

Already learned that you get kicked pretty quickly with a base character on a Gold mission, and that you don't take your SP character with you.

Shame as I have some sweet weapons that I wanted to try out, and now I'll have to make do with using them on the weak enemies I'm finding after the end of the main story.

The different "levels" of difficulty(Gold, Bronze, and Silver) have actual character levels tied to them.

1+ is Bronze.
10+ is Silver.
18+ is Gold.

Thanks Kan. I had sort of realised that and am going to try a bronze when I get home tonight, but don't understand why I was even allowed to join the lobby in that case. Oh well, I have 3 strike teams on the go. 1 who is getting to 80-90% chance on silver, the other two are the same but only for bronze, so when I gave in and decided to try MP I only had gold left. Still gutted I can't use my Remnant X armour, my remnant VI 'Zap' and my constructed weapons, but I'll give it a try. Deliberately left a bronze free when I sent the teams out this morning. May even have enough to buy a 4th by the end of this evening.

Just got Helldivers, the game is awesome (and somewhat reminiscent of 40k for anyone who cares) but can be painful at times. I think this story sums up the game:

Joined a 2 person party on a relatively easy Bug mission. We commando'd and shot out way through the objectives like pros, avoiding patrols and dropping strategems with pretty good timing and skill. As we get to and activate the extraction point, we're feeling pretty good about the mission. We start digging in and reinforcing with vehicles and turrets. Then, at about a minute to extraction, someone with more than one landmine strategem jumps into the game.

Total party wipe, no survivors, failed extraction, and all of it within less than a minute. That's how chaotic the game is.

It's because people can theoretically, on some character types and with Promoting/"Perks"(permabuffs that you select/level up) be on a footing to accomplish the higher tiers with lower characters. Plus it's to allow people to carry friends through, etc.

I would actually advise against buying a fourth team right now.

When in the Multiplayer section, go to the "Store".
Tab over to the bit between the Packs you buy with Credits and the "Reward" section. I think it's labeled "Mission Items".
Use your Mission Funds instead on either the Juggernaut Shield or the Thermal Clip Storage.
Those are permanent upgrades that you do not ever lose. You equip them on your character the same way that you equip a weapon for MP. Juggernaut Shield boosts your Shield Capacity and increases your Melee damage.

They like doing Melee Damage+, Weapon and Power Damage- missions.

Plus it makes Krogan Bloodrage hellaciously effective. My Krogan Engineer at 6 is headbutting basically everything to death...

The other option is "Thermal Clip Storage" which gives you something like 3x the ammo capacity for your non-Remnant weapons.

Additionally, they are not "leveled" upgrades so you do not need multiples to get max effectiveness.

Sounds like a good session to me.

When we played it we usually dumped in mechs and drones, which would usually led to at least one of us getting squashed by the drop pod due to "poorly" plotted coordinates.

Not to mention the many, many times some of us got squashed by the extraction shuttle.

And then there was the time we tried a bike.. I ran over two of our party, my buddy hopped out of the sidecar while it was reversing and got killed, then I hopped out (while it was still moving) and got run over as well. One of the best wipes I've ever seen.

I just finished Yakuza 0 yesterday. 8/10 game I liked it a lot.

I finished one of the Nier Automata (9/10 so far) endings and it's got me hooked. I still haven't gotten out of tutorial zone of HZD been too busy with too much games coming out. I haven't made progress on Torment Tides of Numenera. I also still have Uncharted 4 pack in to finish.

And yet the games roll on. Today my Persona 5 shows up. I also want to get Thimbleweed Park since it's getting good reviews.

Wipeout Omega Collection, Middle Earth Shadows of War, Stellaris Utipia (only 1day), and probably many unforeseen games. I still haven't gotten around to getting FF15, Nioh, Last Guardian, or the Ps4 horror game that got great reviews.

My work on all my models has basically stopped. I might have to skip this entire year for modeling. Gaming comes first.

2017 is perhaps the best year in video game history.

Thanks Kan.

I didn't get the other team, despite not getting to your message until now. Decided that I'd like to get my current teams up a bit more first as I am struggling to get enough missions for them anyway. Loved my first MP game last night, was with a good team but have a feeling I let them down rather in the final mission. Had to be revived a number of times, and was so busy trying to protect the other 3 so they could get on the shuttle that I didn't make the extraction myself. Still, L4 in one match, I'm pleased with that.

Got the SP 100% Viable bonus, nice little cinematic on that one, definitely going to affect MEA2. Have scanned every system, but could do with loads more Remnant research if I'm ever going to get the armour I want. Can't wait to get back online tonight and try again.

It's a pretty fun MP system--I loved ME3, so was just happy to get more of it.

An important thing for the Extraction wave(Wave 7) is to stay away from the Extraction Zone until the last 30 seconds. You can find some good spots on maps to hole up before then.

Never did MP with ME3. Had to move to get work and the place I stay I have to share the internet with others - and it's just not been that good.

Was glad to get a decent match in last night, but am still at the mercy of my [their] connection.

Will have to look at the items tonight, but I think my first purchase will be a better AR if I can get one, that would mean I don't blow through thermal clips as much anyway, and I only ran out once last night. M16, not AK47!

Just as a heads up so you don't get super disappointed...

Mass Effect uses blind boxes for items. You can't just pick out a specific weapon or character.

I would advise you to get as many of the 5000 credit boxes as possible to start with. It gives you, IMO, a solid "core" of the lower tier stuff.

Thanks. Wouldn't have been that sad, it stops the 'Pay-to-Win' after all. I have a huge number of credits on my SP account, so I should be able to get a load of them anyway.

From what you are saying it sounds like in-game currency to buy those boxes, but earlier it seemed you were saying I could get the Thermal Clip Storage with the same currency as buying the extra team. I hope that's right because 5K of that currency is going to take me a couple of months to get.

[Edit:]

And I get the feeling that ANY AR from a box will be better than the one I'm currently using. Got the feeling I can do more damage melee'ing with it than shooting it!

So, you don't get to use your single player credits--buuuut a successful completion and extraction of even the lowest tier mission nets you around 12k credits.

The Mission Credits are a separate thing entirely, shared between MP and SP since you can earn Mission Credits by completing the Apex Missions by playing them yourself or sending a Strike Team.

And I get the feeling that ANY AR from a box will be better than the one I'm currently using. Got the feeling I can do more damage melee'ing with it than shooting it!

Make sure to do the Tutorial and the Tutorial Challenges.

Successful completion of the Tutorial nets you a pack, doing the Tutorial Challenges(Buy an item from the Mission Item store, open a Pack, equip a Consumable, level two different characters, successfully Extract from an Apex Mission, and a few more I can't remember) gets you an Advanced(the 20,000 credit) Pack.

Getting squished by your vehicle drop is embarrassing, but getting squashed by a reinforce is even worse. As for the bike, it's simultaneously the most fun and most awkward weapon in the game. On one hand, nothing beats a 4-person party riding through a desert map with the sidecar people gunning down patrols as they go, on the other hand dismounting during a tight turn and running yourself over sucks.

The most difficult choice during loadout creation, though, is which flavor of airstrike/orbital bombardment to take. There are so many choices!

Good to see the recommendations for Helldivers. Think it's one of the best local mutiplayer games available, if you can get 4 friends together just so much fun.

Just playing through this at the moment. Such an entertaining game, and the fighting kind of makes me think of Streets of Rage (mix with Shenmue.. Don't think you can give more of an endorsement than that!)

Long War 2 mod for xcom 2. Normally it's very hard but my weapons tech and suppressors and well as scientists (could maybe use some more sci though but engi are too prevalent now) and engineers are going up fairly well. I skulljacked a codex. I do need to speed up getting liberation missions done. They're usually hard and don't have much time unless you luck out. With advanced suppressors i should be able to blast through the next one like nothing at all (each adv. suppressor takes away about 4 hours from needed infiltration time whereas basic ones only take away 2 hours). I'm also working on doing more missions to hunt down faceless (elimate the spy missions) and see if i can't get myself both some gear (hopefully some drones and officers but faceless corpses so that i can make a plating or vest that by itself is equivalent to an advanced suppressor. A combined 8 hours off per soldier would be massive. I could easily handily stick in another soldier in a mission with little time.

Anyway yeah i gotta do those liberation missions, do the advent network tower of the region and then wipe out the advent regional hq. Tried maybe 2-3 times and failed every time except during the last time i succeeded hardcore (nobody died but they a lot of people were hurt stabilized from bleeding out or even bleeding out while i tried to win before they died on me so game time would save them).

MUST. DESTROY. ALL. JRP GRINDING.

Persona 5. After about 5 hours on normal I leveled up once.... and I need two more levels to get to the boss. The enemies are not even difficult on the highest setting. It's just tedious. It took me even longer before when I had it on hard.

I'm flipping it down to casual and story mode. feth this time wasting BS. Why did such a great game have to be the most jrpg game I've played in ages.

I hate jrpg combat/grind cycle. SOOOO much. Loath it.

So the fact that I'm even willing to put up with it is great news for the rest of this stylish game.

Fry, you son of a bitch.

Also got Persona 5. Presence of instant-kill spells in the first Palace isn't exactly great. I started playing on Normal, but I'm going to drop to Easy and then to Safe if the tedium is still their. Justified in that I don't think anyone touches Persona games for their combat.

Odd. I'm playing it on Normal (and loving it - I'm working on the second palace right now), and don't recall that much trouble leveling up. I haven't felt a need at any point to stop and grind levels.

Standard for Atlus games. Atlus tends have pretty brutal fights in games connected to the Shin Megami Tensei franchise (which the Persona series is a part of). Getting ambushed, critted, and killed is one of those things that happens even at the earliest levels. My play session last night ended with something similar, which set me back a bit in the dungeon I'm currently working through.

On the other hand, the game also gives you the tools to get ambushes in your favor in nearly every single fight this time around using the Hide mechanic. Quite frequently, I wipe out the enemy before they get a chance to fight back.

It's probably also worth noting that Atlus has an *entire page* devoted exclusively to the company in the "That One Boss" section over at TV Tropes. The fans have come to expect fights that will punish careless players (and even careful ones at times).

Nah it's typical jrpg gameplay. Easy as hell. I was on the highest setting and owning every single fight like you, but I HATE doing that gak OVER and OVER and OVER! On the highest setting you also got less xp. Kicking it down to normal was still way too slow.

However this made me miss out on the actual good part of the game since it meant I had less time to do story stuff.

I just HATE ALL grinding. That needs to be understood. I realize all people have the right to play their way, but if someone put a gun to my head and made me pick one video game mechanic to kill off for all time its grinding.

Huh.

Steam has an Enhanced Edition of Planescape: Torment up for sale. The enhancements in this case are apparently all to the gameplay, and not to the story itself.

Hmm...

Quality of story and gameplay aside, EA/Bioware deserve to get a mighty big economical spanking for releasing such a blatantly unfinished game.

I personally don't find the grinding to be that noticeable in Persona 5 (especially in comparison to Persona 4), but there is a little. But then I go out of my way to kill every Shadow on a floor before moving on, so maybe I just don't need to grind.

And yeah, the first dungeon for Persona 5 was pretty easy. The second one is noticeably harder, and the third could get pretty punishing at times since it's the first one that really starts using the hard-hitting Physical spells, which can easily feth your team up. Still enjoying the hell out of it though. Either way, even I will admit that Persona 5 bosses are easier than the PS2 Persona bosses so far, largely because the dungeons aren't randomly generated anymore (except Mementos) and that gives Atlus the opportunity to put in puzzles.

The real question is, if you don't like JRPG gameplay, why would you buy Persona 5?

I had Fallout 4 for the PS4 on Xmas at release, and Skyrim for 360 as well as the remastered PS4 version. Their issues are not close to the same.

If the next Fallout games is as disappointing, storywise, as FO4 then yes, mighty big spanking.

You mean "random graphic glitches that really seem to only get done if someone is trying to and horrible storylines"?

Yeah, no. That's all of Bethesda's games.

All honesty here--if you don't like BioWare's past games, STOP BUYING THEM.

If only so I don't have to hear your complaints that they "missed the mark" or whatever.

Many of the dialogue animations and even some of the voice acting performances are certainly not up to standard.

The animations could be for any number of reasons, which an extra credits video did an excellent job of examining by looking at what exactly goes into these kinds of dialogue systems:

Well for one it is the sound effects, the very rough animation work and the fact that the game have frozen so far four times on my Ps4. Then its the complete lack of history building and any varation when it comes to the animations in combat. Beyound that there is also the point at thay have even managed to forget to include any real chance for customization.

Also just to add that i have sunk around 20 hours into the game, so i feel i have a solid ground for meaing what i mean (pardon for any rough spelling)

- Andromeda - I was playing it, and got quite a ways into it before setting it aside for P5. For whatever reason, I didn't notice all of the graphical issues that others have been complaining about. I have some other complaints about the game (mentioned in the ME:A thread). But bugs - graphical or otherwise - have not been a problem for me. Xbox One, btw.
- P5 - Having fun with it. Just started the fifth palace last night. As I mentioned earlier, I haven't felt a need to grind at all.

Just performed my first orbital rescue mission in my career mode game of Kerbal Space Program. Bringing two ships together in orbit is really tough! Especially when you don't have all the nice toys yet (like RCS thrusters). This game is giving me greater respect for the folks working for NASA, I can tell you.
