Maybe this belongs to the fluff section, but I was wondering why the Lord commisar has a BS of 5. Better than a space marine, equaling an eldar exarch.
Don't get me wrong, I don't think he is overpowered because of his BS of 5, but I think doesn't make sense that a human character has BS above 4.
What do you guys think?

By the current scale, yes I think it's too high.
Commissars are awesome, skilled, leaders. not assassins (in the imperial sense)
but if they're rescaling the BS (...tehehe...) on this codex go around, then no. (ie, if the future character eldar will have BS's of 6 or 7)
Space marines have almost always punched light compared to the fluff, i doubt that will change since otherwise a smurf tac army would number like deathwing.
unaugmented human skill ranges should be 2,3,4

True but if you think on it commissars have some of the best teaching the imperuim can provide. Combine that with the fact that a commissar lord has gone through hell and back makes me think hed be better off then the regular imp veteran.

who knows when the codex finaly gets a rewrite you may get a standard BS of 6 or more ...after all BS can now go all the way to 10 ... I wonder who'll be the first to get a BS 10 model?

Now folks, the Lord Commissar has practiced shooting people in the back of the head for years. He's obviously gotten good at it.
The BS of 5 is fine, he should only be able to use it at six inches though and be stuck with a BS of 4 the rest of the time.

why would you want more than 5 anyways? just for fluff purposes? the only thing it affects is template scatter and it's rare for ICs to be armed with them.

The Avatar is BS10, or at least he should be.
He is only shooting a pistol anyway, it is not that hard to aim.
Slightly off-topic, from what I have heard the rules for the Commissar Lord are ... YEAH! Independent Officer Command Radius or something. Neato.

the Lord Commisar didn't want anymore s**t from GW, so when he threatened to treat them like cowardly guard, they give him BS5.
Now we just need a rule/order where his BS is shared with the closest squad within 2D6" lol have it called "Look Alive Men!" where his presence alone boosts their morale, and encourages them to have the precision of an ace sniper with a flashlight.
He gives a whole new meaning to the phrase,
"PEW! HEADSHOT!!"

What's more insane than the BS5 Commissar (who I don't think is too crazy, btw) is the penal troopers with the "knife fighters" upgrade.
Yes, now your scummy, untrained prisoners can now take down tanks and wraithlords because they have broken tooth brushes and sharpened combs!

What's even more strange is that they always happen to gather the knife fightint expercts into units. How'd they get so many of these guys?

They gave the LC a statline that was required to make him a "threat" in the game. That doesn't translate to fluff well unfortunately as they generally aren't "threats" in the fluff to the things that are pointed near where they are.
It's certainly not the most rage inducing thing in that book. I don't really mind it.

Well, the Commissar Lord needs to be able to administer a Summary Execution from across the table. It's only natural that his BS is 5. Hell, it should be 6.
And since I'm being logical about this, why not give Guardsman BS 17 with Rapid-Fire Lascannons?

It's not that the Lord Comissar's aim is so good that gives him such a high BS, it's the invisible guy on the nearest grassy knoll with the high-powered rifle that makes his BS so good.
Or maybe it has to do with the magic bullets he's been issued...
I'm taking this into some screwed up territory, aren't I?

its because any imperial guardsmen who witnesses the lord Commissar missing a shot coincidently turns out to be a heratic and must be purged.
