So, 5 years enough then? I think we are missing the point, people are going down for considerably longer for financial crimes, fraud etc but these creatures tortured a child, one of them raped another and the brothers tortured their own grandmother before her death. The Stepfather had a history of torturing and killing animals.
Why was life not the verdict, to mean life. 5 years? Justice was not served.

What the blue feth is wrong with your justice system? A two year old girl was fething raped, a baby boy was tortured and killed, an old woman was beaten half to death, countless animals were tortured and killed, and THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS? fething hell, the death sentence would be far too good for them! Lock them in a fething 4x4 cell with no toilet and minimal sustenace for the rest of their lives, I say. Even being a nazi should be a fething criminal offence.
When you guys overthrow your government, you better fething bet I'll be there with my trusty hatchet to rip these filthy bastards apart.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

Actually, you just have to dig a little deeper. The Judge that passed down the sentences was actually very cunning. A life sentence is finite, and has parole like any other. BUT, give them a minimum, rather than a maximum, and you can keep the sods locked up indefinitely.
Funny how the press and gutter media neatly plastered over that one.

The death sentence is nothing compared to being locked up for the rest of your life, although in some cases (this being among them) I see no reason why they should not be put out of their misery. Messed... up... frakkin'... individuals. This will represent a tax burden if they are just tossed away, but I suppose huge sums of money to keep people like this alive and kicking is worth it? Man, the madness is maddening .
Man... this is some really messed up stuff and I for one hope that Mad doc is right about them being locked up tight.

Oh I am.
A Judge normally hands down both a limit, and a reccomended minimum stay at Her Majesty's Pleasure (kinky old Bat is Queenie. Loves to see men shut up!). But here, we have the minimum, but no maximum. Trust me, this means their cases are reviewed at the end, and no judge in his right mind is going to release the two brothers. The mother, possibly. After a long old time.

Good to hear.
What action is being taken to avoid these types of situations in the future? In essence they are not 100% avoidable, but the system seems to have a mighty big leak if you ask me. It is the same out here with social services, it is almost like there is very few people actually interested in getting their job done. I will not go to deeply into this because I will most definitely offend, but CPS are some extremely whacky people some times (lack of logic, pure political emotion most of the time).

Whilst that's a perfectly understandable emotional reaction to what these 'people' have done thankfully the law has to be above such gut reactions. I don't see there being any way they will be out soon and there is no way they will be let out in the general population of the prison. These people are going to suffer a long and lonely existence.
Incidentally just what exactly is to be achieved by releasing their names? I hope I'm wrong in predicting a repeat of that debacle in 2000 when the NotW stated printing the addresses of sex offenders. As weird as this may sound I think a collection of Ill-informed lynch mobs are a far greater threat to society than any number of released ex-offenders.

It demonstrates an effort made to be understood, and to make your post an easy and pleasant read. I don't support the death sentence.
Scum like that don't deserve the release of death. If I had it my way I'd shut people like that up forever, giving them the bare minimum of food just to keep them alive(because they don't deserve tax payers money)

True enough, true enough. To some degree I agree with you purely by default, but when you take a look at the costs of housing so many criminals (some of which are in and out their whole lives, like some sort of demented vacation spot) it starts to point to the chair (or P.C. version therein).
I do agree that there should be a hard-line between who should and shouldn't be tossed onto death row, but I think that in some cases the options are very limited, and to put it bluntly not all of them deserve to be put to rest. Sure they will have food, etc... but have you ever spent a year in the same room before? Self inflicted fears are usually the worst, but who knows with some of these cats, they are just in their own little worlds.
Too complicated an issue to determine what is right and wrong for every situation as a general rule. The rare case of someone ending on death row, or even with a life sentence is common enough to make me worry a bit about this type of finalist precognition if you may.

That’s all very well until they attack a paediatrician (this did happen in the 2000 debacle) or attack someone based on just rumour and tittle-tattle as opposed to an actual conviction.
Mobs are never a good thing and no good can come of having this information in the public domain.

So they can be kept watched upon and any time they were/are considered for parole/similar the then Home Secretary will, through one of the anonymous "Home Office sources", let a newspaper know this is coming up, that paper can complain and start a campaign to keep them locked up. Then the Home Secretary can step in, reassure the public that such vile people like this will never be released, etc etc.. blah blah, not on my watch... debt ot society etc etc . The paper sells more copies and gets some free advertising and the Home Secretary and the Govt. get to look tough on crime and criminals, even though no parole board in the country would release them in the first place.
.... I would suggest it also makes their time inside distnctly more unpleasant as well.
Which I can live with.

Sex offender lists place someone who raped and abused 50 kids on the same list as a drunk 18 year old who streaked within 1km of a school.
