It had to happen eventually, and here it is finally a 40K movie.

what I know is it's going to be 70 minutes long and is CG animated by Codex studios.

Smurf jokes aside what are your thoughts?

check it out at www.ultramarinesthemovie.com

Self-proclaimed evil Cat-person. Dues Ex Felines

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

I will bet nearly anything the story of this movie will have something to do with the storyline of the "Space Marine" video game coming out.

I also notice it's by the same studio responsible for the Bionicle Animations....which isn't so bad, they were fine right up until the moment they decided they needed a full length film with voice actors...bleh~

At least I know the movie itself will be well animated, hopefully they will find a better plot (or better plot devices).

Its a direct to DVD release which most likely means it is going to be pretty bad. I'm not really expecting much from it to be honest.

I always felt like they would take an IG story and turn it into a decent action/scifi movie though. Something like Gaunts Ghosts would be easy enough to explain quickly in afeature film.

Well you can be sure that GW will supervise its production closely.

Hopefully it will have better voice acting.

i wonder what the story will be? Battle for Macragge maybe?

it should have a rating of PG-13 at the most because there will be kids who will want to see it.

If its Rated less then R its gonna suck. The 40k universe has too much blood and death to be of the PG-13 rating. So unless the Smurfs are trying to have tea time with Orks, theres no reason for it to not be full of violence

If it is straight to video, I am pretty sure they can leave it unrated. Seeing as how its straight to video, they don't need as much mass appeal as a big budget movie would, so they can keep it true to content and level of violence, if they want. Looking forward to seeing it, though I will keep my expectations low.

To be honest I don't care if it is crap I waste so much of my life being forced to watch friends and coronation st (for non Brits just know this is a very dull soap opera about northerners) and other rubbish my wife likes, that 70 minutes of a 40K film HAS TO BE BETTER. well it does doesn't it please say it will be!

I say yay to it, especially since its Ultramarines.

Tau and eldar and such wouldnt work for the wider audience, where as super humans dropping into combat zones and goring the enemies of mankind will have teenagers and some older players becoming flustered and damp below.

I don't mind if its cheesy, i mean heck i watched star ship troopers 3 and enjoyed it so either i'm sick or easily pleased...

roll on the movie yay

Probably some stunt to get Ultramarines more popular. But we all saw this coming, no doubt about that. Look on the bright side. It could have been about Daemonhunters or even something about Mordheim, which would suck. And don't be suprised if it is rated PG, coz GW would want to get more spoilt younger kids with overly kind parents into 'the hobby'.

I only hope that it turns out to be something like the cinematics in the Dawn of War II PC game.

That would make it a *must buy* for me

And I reckon they will be fighting Chaos, Tyranids or Orks. If the producer was clever they would be in fast forward fighting every race not from the Imperium. And between each five min battle the screen will say 'BUY IT. YOU KNOW YOU DON'T REALLY WANT TO.' And the last five minutes will be credits.

Don't be so pessimistic. Gore does not make 40k. The Dawn of War intros have an M-level of blood and gore, and they were epic enough.

As I recall, Dark Crusade was going to be rated MA15+ here though, because in the original trailer a Space Marine gets ripped in half by a Wraith (as opposed to the final cut of the game, where it appears to fatally slash him).

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

Oh the horrors. The Boredom.

This will be a snorefest akin to the Peter Jackson Helmed Lotr movies (or King Kong - anything after "the Frighteners", really). The Boring marines.

It won't even be long enough to make a decent nap.

@Cheese: MA15+ is the highest our game ratings go (any higher and they get banned), so it's not that impressive.

That's what I'm saying Cheese - we're not even going to get that. I'm honestly expecting Clone Wars levels of violence here.

I dunno. We just have to wait and see.

Chromedog: We need an R18+ rating for games. If it's good enough for adults in the UK/US, it's good enough for us.

Screw other countries - if it's good enough for films in this country, it's good enough for games in this country.
