Greetings, Warhammer Fantasy players! I am curious to see what the community thinks of the upcoming Beasts of Chaos army, based on the rumors we've been getting.

He's got a mind like a steel trap. By which I mean it can only hold one idea at a time;
it latches on to the first idea to come along, good or bad; and it takes strenuous effort with a crowbar to make it let go.

I'm really uninspired by the new book. I got the old army because I loved the imagery and playstyle. Now, the playstyle is gone, becoming boring old fighting infantry + stuff. The new models do not interest me at all- those minotaurs look terrible in the pictures (though, I will go and look at them in person. Sometimes these things get better). The new monsters don't interest me much, and I miss my old shaggoth. Overall, it's the least exciting new release GW have had for a long time, inmy opinion. I'm selling my dudes to a friend.

I voted #3 & 4

Don't own a beast army (always wanted one, but never took the plunge), and I've got the 3 fantasy armies I'm allowing myself at any one time so I won't be buying one ... But I'm liking the rumors, there's some crazy stuff happening in the list. The problem for me is that it seems like all toys, with the infantry heart of the list - gors/ungors, bestigors - beaten about the face or simply an afterthought, particularly so with chariots staying core.

Still I'll be buying the book, which says a lot as I only own books for armies I play ...

Very disappointed in the reports coming out on the new Beasts army book. The old troop focused beasts are replaced by monsters with gimmick rules.

First impressions are that 50% of my current models are junk and would need to be replaced as part of the new army build. Such a shame, I really like the paint work on my army. No plans to sell the army, I'll just wait for the next army book version in 2018/2020.

I'm indifferent to Fantasy in general right now. I'll wait to see how the new rules look later this year.

And I'll probably still be indifferent to Fantasy.

I already own a beastmen army, and I ain't selling it any time soon-but I'm dissapointed in the new releases. I'll snaffle up those last few beastherd boxes before there removed for good. Voted #2.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go and finish stitching my vodoo doll of whoever designed that Razerdon ....

I waas really exited but saw them today on the web and the only model that looks ok is the doombul, and that costs 25 squid (I'm British). Sorry GW but your not gonna take my money with those.

I was thinking about starting fantasy. Then I saw the models. Needless to say, I'm going to do a second 40k army instead.

I do have some Beastmen left over from the time I used to play Hordes of Chaos with Beastmen allies, but I had never played "pure" Beasts of Chaos before. The word about upcoming release got me excited, because I could effectively start a new army by digging a box labeled CHAOS from my closet, and we all love starting new armies, right?

Now that the new models have been revealed and rules have been leaking all over the place, I have very mixed feelings. At first I was truely disappointed, but there are also some changes that I find welcome.

New models aren't very impressive. Minotaurs and Character models are horrible and Pumbagor is a bad joke (both concept and modelwise). Gors didn't change much, but Ungors are definitely an improvement because this time they have actual options instead of two different bodies and four heads of the previous kit. Ungors are the only new release I am even remotely interested in buying. Looks like I am simply going to use the models I have and make a smaller army (1000-1500 points). As an added benefit, Mr. Wallet stays happier.

Barring horrible price increase, splitting the Beast herd was a good thing, both rules and modelwise, IMO. I never liked the concept of mixed unit and it also caused several rule problems. The models weren't bad, but the ratio of Gors to Ungors was horrible and there weren't many options for the latter. Overall, I think GW screwed this up back in 2003 and they should have released Gors and Ungors separately back then. It might have also saved us from rebasing Ungors, not once but twice. I am also happy to see Gors back in ranks, because I am still stubborn enough to think that Warhammer should be about ranked units fighting each other, not 100+ skirmishers circling aroud. There are different games for that.

I am disappointed that GW dropped Chaos Trolls, Chaos Ogres and Dragon Ogres from the armylist. I also wonder what is the deal with three new Rare monsters, for which there are no models. Ruleswise, I am also annoyed to see much randomness. Ambush is totally pants now, Centigors have a weird random effect and there is a stupid 5d6 S1 spell. I haven't read the rules for new silly large monsters and I am not looking forward to do so either.

Overall Beastmen update seems like a cheap effort. But then again, during the past years I have learned to enjoy Warhammer hobby without playing the game. I enjoy making armies from good looking models, it's just a shame there aren't any in this release. But hey, it's not my loss. GW can't stop me from making a Beastman army from old models I own and have fun while doing it. They are trying, though.

The Joke is over GW, now bring out the real models.

You cannot be serious at the uninspired look of that crap.

Labling that chaos is the correct thing to do for all the wrong reasons.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

Minotaurs are a victim of a dodgy paintjob. Having handle the sprues, I can assure you the muscles are NOT as pronounced as you might fear.

Razorgor. Hmm. Bit Marmite this´un. Personally, only thing I don´t like is the single bulging eye, which is easily fixed.

The rest look a lot better in the book. List wise, only Ungor Raiders are a bit silly, as in 2000 points I can field 3 minimum units for a piffling 90 points, letting me spunk the rest on really big stuff.

I'm not going to sell, but I see very little reason to expand my 500-point warband to a full army.

thats not a 50mm square base!

edit: whoops, I'm wrong. The angle is just deceiving.

This works for the entire new line of models.

I'm sorry, but they're craptastic, even without a paintjob.

I was hoping to buy some beastmen just for the heads but that's looking very bad right now.

Wut? To me it looks like a 50mm base rather than 40mm. It would also mean the model is huge, almost Juggernaut-sized. Thunderboars, anyone?

My bad, the angle made one side look significantly larger than the other, so I thought it was a chariot base, but now that I see the chariot base in the actual chariot pic, its way longer.

I'm gonna wait for the new rule book (and buy it but then again I collect all the new books that come out ) .

I think the doombull looks cool and I'm gonna try to green stuff some chaos armor on those minotaurs and reverse the color scheme. I think having an all "MC" Fantasy army could be fun.

All thoughts aside I think having the new plastic sets means more, easier conversions for some very talented people and I for one can't wait to see what they'll concoct.

I voted #3. I don't own any, but I've wanted to for a while. I'm glad they've moved away from Chaos and been given their own primal origins. The new book doesn't look that bad to me, because I'd like to start a strong, low-model-count army and chariots/minotaurs would be great for that (and I hate Ogres).

Beastmen might interest me more if there were more variety in the beasts they represent. Maybe they could add things like lion inspired models, or werewolf type stuff.

Forever alone

Terrible, terrible, terrible.

That is all.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

The new Beastmen are a shame compared to the old ones.

Firstly, Malagor. What the Hell? Was Moghur all of a sudden forgotten? It seems like they fill the same purpose in the army, much less the fluff.

Ghorros looks stupid. Period.

The Minotaurs look too damn muscular. I want a minotaur, not a damn Ogre on Super-'Roids.

I'm actually quite fine with the Gors, Ungors and Bestigors.

However, then we get the Razorgor. It's like a Razorfen Downs Boar from WoW. Really? REALLY? What the hell, you can't give Beasts some kind of monster that doesn't look like crap?

And what the hell do they mean "For the first time ever, Beastmen get their own stand-alone armybook". You say that like it is a good thing, first of all. Secondly, their old book was stand-alone, and worked fine that way. Sure, you had the OPTION of taking from the HoC list, but it was exactly that, OPTIONAL.

Some people play to win, some people play for fun. Me? I play to kill toy soldiers.
