Good lord I be hungry! Dinner is already planned (Chicken Kievs, Garlic Bread and Chips) and not that far away, so I need to find a snack.

Easy option is to do some Toast, cover it in butter, then a coating of lovely smooth Peanut Butter, just for the extra taste and texture. But what do you turn to Dakka, when you want a snack but can't really be arsed to cook?

I open a can of Stagg chilli, or knack a bowl of coco pops, or crunch some prawn cocktail crisps into a cheese spread sarnie.

Im partial to Peanut butter on toast as well after so much time in the States, but i much prefer crunchy type than smooth, and it has to have strawberry jam on it as well or i feel like im trying to eat a bag of cement!

Mmmmm....Stagg Chilli...it is a bit gorgeous. And considering you stick it in the pan and wait until it's hot, doesn't technically count as cooking.

Though if I have Chilli, I have it on a massive Baked Spud. Just tastes better. Bit longer to prepare (I bake my spuds for a good 90 minutes) sure, but well worth it.

Peanut butter and chocolate spread. Either on sandwiches, or toast.

Mmmmm...

A can of Stagg chilli as a snack? Wow.

Fruit. But generally I don't snack often. I generally find if I'm eating well (three meals a day) and I'm getting hungry in between meals, it's ussually because I'm bored. Sadly to the extent that if I'm preocupied I often miss meals, especially the first two.

Spend one year living with my old housemates from uni and you will never use the microwave again.

I used to have stag chilli (or more likely the supermarket own brand chille con carne) on toast all the time at uni. Doesn't take much more time if any in a pan.

Why not ww?

I dont see whats up with a microwave.. it just heats it up right? Hows it gonna affect the taste of a can of chilli? :S

Crackers with tomato, cheese and pepper.

Avocado and tomato sandwich, with some ham if I've got any.

“We may observe that the government in a civilized country is much more expensive than in a barbarous one; and when we say that one government is more expensive than another, it is the same as if we said that that one country is farther advanced in improvement than another. To say that the government is expensive and the people not oppressed is to say that the people are rich.”

I try not to Microwave unless necessary. I'm a little paranoid about bombarding food with radiation then eating it!

Supposedly, science has proven microwave cooking does effect taste. Saying that, that's not the reason I don't do it. I'm just reminded of the smell of the microwave from my digs whenever i open one.

I mean Corn chips, in the american style (Tostito's etc) Proper chips need nothing but Sarson's malt vinegar, and maybe some Worcestershire Sauce

They are rather tasty! Though I'm quite partial to a nice crisp Granny Smith from time to time. Love the sharpness and crunch of them!

Try some pink lady apples if you can get them. Tastiest apple ever (if you cook them in the oven with some pork chops, all the juice comes out of them to flavour the meat, yet they retain their shape and texture).

By "proper chips" I'm assuming you mean French Fries (yes,I am a savage American ),and when munching french fries they MUST be drowned in Dave Poes spicy BarB-Q sauce or Tabasco.

Right now, I'm eating some chicken fried rice that I microwaved several hours ago. Sometimes, I'll not be in the mood for a proper meal all day, so I just nuke something and graze on it on and off. To be honest, most of what I eat comes from the microwave, or whatever place has some sort of coupon special in the ads that I get in the mail. Right now it's Burger King, but I'm getting tired of them. And to think, I used to be a restaurant cook. So much for bringing your work home with you...

Only if you are scoffing it in Camden from one of those Market Vendors with the permanent pitch. Lovely that, and just the thing to set you up for the shocking prices of modern Gothwear! £60 I spent on each shirt, and within 2 months the elbows were through in both. Not bloody amused.

Ok,the "Chinese Chinese food"part I get ,but I honestly have to know what exactly makes British Chinese food better than American Chinese food, seriously,I eat Chinese food at least once a week, and if it's that much better in the UK..I'm getting on a plane ASAP.
