Hello guys,

As you may have heard we have been working very hard over the past year on a top secret project. Well, here it is. It’s the Battle Foam X-Board Travel Display. This is the industry’s first modular travel display board that will allow gamers to show off their armies while on the road. This plastic injection molded board is built like a tank and comes fully textured ready for dry brushing and flocking. The construction of the board is meant to support a full metal army and will not collapse or bow.

The most exciting part about the X-Board is that it comes completely apart and makes for easy airport travel. The board measures 24” x 18” when assembled but breaks down to half that size while on the go. One other great feature is that the X-Board works for any game system. Regardless if you play 40k, Fantasy, Warmachine, Hordes, FOW, or any other miniature game.

Future releases will include different removable panels that will allow for an even more customized look to your board. Trench lines, water features, and even lava fields are in the works. Every X-Board comes unpainted and unassembled but includes an easy to use carry sack to keep your painted pieces from rubbing together.

The X-Board will be available in the next couple of months and will completely change the way people display their armies. Look for more information to go up on the Battle Foam website next month.

MSRP $65.00

I'm interested in the add on parts described.

How thick are the inserts?
You say its 24” x 18” so I'm assuming each piece is 12" x 18" right?

Other than price, which is pretty awesome for what it is, is there anything this thing does that you couldn't do with a Realm of Battle segment?

If they are truly coming out with expansion tiles, it sound like you could play games on varied terrain, instead of boring 'ol... pits with skulls in them (did that ever make sense to anybody? Do tell, I never got why they were there). Plus, this makes a great sized board for skirmish games (get two, have a 4'x3' table) for much cheaper than the RoB board.

Edit - WOW completely missed that these are a display board, not a game board . Makes sense for the dimensions, but I'd like to think that my points still stand, just change "play games" to "display models" (or keep it on play, I think it'd work for it). Plus, it's a looooot cheaper than a RoB segment.

That seems cool yet somewhat expensive...

It's two pieces of flat plastic and a frame...

Hello,

Sonofruss - No, sorry but the outer rails only fit together to make one display. The X-Board is meant to keep traveling light so it can go everywhere you go.

blood angel - I don't know what you mean by custom inserts but for an added cost you could have a specific logo or image engraved into the board.

Sarrazon - I'm sure with enough of them you could build a huge game board but we never tried.

NecronLord3 - We are planning on having these at Adepticon for viewing. We will also bring a small batch to the show for sales. Being that we are bringing so many bags we are limited on travel space. Pre-Orders for these will be up on our site on the 15th of March.

RiTides - Yes, we are unveiling the 720 next week and that also will be at Adepticon and on our site for pre-order on the 15th.

Commander Endova - Considering that the board is 24 x 18 and breaks down into half that size it does the one thing the realms of battle does not. It makes it possible to travel with your display as carry on.

Foda_Bett - You are almost dead on. The boards are an extra thick 1" and really make the board bomb proof when it comes to its panels.

Vindicator#9 - That's great to hear. I personally got killed every event because of the lack of display and this I hope will solve that problem for most.

Thanks

Romeo

All you need to do now is expand on the idea, release tiles for a table, that just happen to link in perfectly with the GW ones, undercut GW by 30%, and let me buy some.

Am I right in figuring that it would take eight of them to make a standard 6' x 4' board? That would make these more expensive per square foot than the GW board which everyone on these forums LOVES to complain about.

Since BF has moved to the realm of injection molding, please tell us that you will create your own version of the modular gaming table and sell it in sets or as 2' sections alone? PLEASE!!!

If you do I'll buy at least 2 tables worth and just to motivate you I'll also buy a full bag workup for my 3 current armies!!!!

You have no idea(well maybe you do) as to how huge of a market you would have if you priced it right. I know that setup costs for injection molding is steep, but I could see this being a huge seller.

That being said, I will very much be buying 2 of these for my lizardmen and my wife's dark elves.

Yep, that pretty much answers the question. Any idea what that cost would be?

Thanks.

I don't understand - What purpose does this serve? I'm not being rude or trolling. Disclaimer: I've gotten BF products and have been happy with them. I assume this is also well made.

I just don't understand what this is for?

It's a ridiculous comparison, though. Like comparing two mopeds with a Prius because put together, they have the same amount of wheels.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

Except in this case the two mopeds wind up costing more than the Prius.

When attending tournaments you often need to leave your army out to be judged for painting/appearance and then when you return after the lunch/break you need to immediately pick up your army and transport it to your next game to start playing, so you don't really have time to pack your army up to move it, or else you're left starting your next game late.

Some people simply use simple dinner serving trays to set their army on...but honestly this doesn't present your army very well to the judges and/or other players who may be voting for a 'players choice' award in the tournament.

Those players who are more talented with terrain building often construct an army terrain tray for displaying/transporting their army in tournaments, but this requires a bit of skill that not everyone possesses AND these items are pretty unwieldy in a suitcase if you're traveling by plane.

This product seems to fill that void...you can buy a board to display/carry your army at tournaments and it deconstructs to for travel convenience. While not for every gamer, this seems like a fantastic niche-filler IMHO and you can consider me SOLD.

Great job Romeo!
