yeah,
Looks good.
Once assembled, how strong is it?
Can you carry your army around ontop of it, or will it collapse?

Wow, that looks pretty cool

I love the idea of a trench system board. Though I don't really play/display enough to warrent getting one :(

If I win the lottery though, I will get several

As to your earlier point that the rods do not connect together to form larger display bases - I think that such a display base would have its place and the idea is certainly worth looking at seriously, even if in the end you decide that you have already invested enough on the current design, and retooling to a new design would outweigh the benefits of being able to construct larger display bases.

cool idea. i am curious to see how it is assembled that you can put a heavy load of large metal models on it to not risk falling apart, must be a pretty clever system.
im not a tournament goer but if i was i would certainly want a set of tiles topped with or made of sheet metal for magnetized bases.

Now that's something I'd be interested in, this doesn't really fit anywhere into my needs.

Superscope wrote:Please tell me your also going to look into terrain board sets! 4x4 plastic terrain boards would make you millions!! MILLIONS!!!

I'd rather have one foot square boards, I have the RoB and two foot square tiles are just too unwieldy rreally. Plus smaller tiles mean more variation and cheaper expansion sets.

It looks like it has recessed handles on the ends, and combined with the reinforcing beam in the centre it looks like it is designed to carry stuff around on.

Great idea, Romeo !! It looks really well-made and sturdy.

Next, you need to offer the option of a clear acrylic cover for it I don't do tourneys but I do display my models at home.

Listen, my children, as I pass onto you the truth behind Willy Wonka and his factory. For every wonka bar ever created in existance, Mr. Wonka sacraficed a single Oompa Loompa to the god of chocolate, Hearshys. Then, he drank the blood of the fallen orange men because he fed them a constant supply of sugary chocolate so they all became diabetic and had creamy, sweet-tasting blood that willy could put into each and every Wonka bar. That is the REAL story behind willy wonka's Slaughter House!

Maxstreel - We will have several inserts over the coming months and we may have something without the hills. I know the next 4 boards have already been designed and they all have features.

RiTides - I designed the board to carry really heavy models from table to table without any problems. When doing weight tests I took my entire Cygnar army along with my Cryx and placed as many metal models together as possible. I had over 20 jacks and every model was base to base across the entire board. Not only did the board support the models but we had no flexing or bowing of any kind. When we do the review video on it next month you'll be able to see it for yourself with models and weight tests.

Everyone - These will be available at Adepticon for pre view. We may also bring a few to sell but we have a huge amount of bag going to the show already and space is limited.

The problem is that a display board needs to be broken down for travel, so there will be a seam (or you can use some conversion work to hide it). On of the biggest problems for people who fly to events is to have a decent display board. If you are local you can take whatever you want, but if you are flying you need a display board that can fit in your luggage.

And to expand on the point Yakface made, not only do people use it to carry their armies around at tournaments, but a lot of tournaments are grading you on your display base.

Here are the rules from the Broadside Bash last week:
Display Base Bonus (1–3pts): If your army includes a display base (it must be large enough to fit your army onto) it can be worth bonus points for your paint score. Display bases will be judged to be Tournament Quality, Fine Detail Quality, or Master Class quality. Tournament quality display bases are worth one bonus point and are very basic; mostly being used to just transport your army from table–to–table and give in a common display area (a flat board with a hill or a couple of trees). Fine Detail quality display bases are worth two bonus points and are meant to tie the theme of the army together even more (a castle background with extra conversions, bodies hanging from the wall, etc.). Master Class quality display bases are worth three bonus points. They are really works of art and not only tie the army theme together but in conjunction with the army models play out a scene in front of you.

Here is the scoring from the Adepticon Championships:
Display Base (Check the one that applies)

No display base, Rubber Maid lid, etc.= 0 points
Basic, just one flock= 1 point
Multiple flock, or painted with highlights one flock, framed edge: 2 points
Multiple flock, or painted with highlights one flock, terrain elements, shading and highlighting of elements= 4 points
Intricate diorama that just ‘wows’ the judge= 5 points

So I might dive over to Gilbert and pick one up before Adepticon.

This would have been great for me at Conquest Seattle. I got -5 points for not having a display board, which then hurt me in the painting category. I just don't have the time to make some elaborate display board, especially one large enough for my Orks that is also effective for travel. X-Board seems relatively easy on the wallet for what it does, effective in design and especially good for us tourney players. I'm soo going to be looking for you guys at Adepticon so I can get my hands on one of these. One of the best products I’ve seen in awhile.

Can I reserve one? lol

I think you're missing the point, Breotan.

The point here is to have a collapsable display board for your army of uberness to look uber on during the obligatory non-uber paint judging at GT style events. That this thing can be collapsed to be a carry on on our every-increasingly nazi-esque airlines (not that I particularly mind their newish policies on baggage, everyone has a bottom line) is exactly what makes it uberfied.

While you could slap several together to form a table on, that isn't their intended purpose, and the price point doesn't apply to unintended uses. The price point is based on what it DOES.

There is an attitude that not having an insanely optimized, one shot, six stage, omnidirectional, inevitable, mousetrap of an assassin list army somehow means that you have foolishly wasted your life building 500 points of pure, 24 karat, hand rolled, fine, cuban fail. That attitude has been shown, under laboratory conditions, to cause cancer of the fun gland.

Let's take a look, shall we?

1. You violated Rule #1 (click on the link above!). For clarity, you called another poster stupid. This is "Rude".

2. Profanity. Just because our profanity filter picks it up doesn't mean you should still say it.

You also have a history of this sort of behavior and have skirted the edge of the Dakka Rules. Further violations of the Dakka rules will result in disciplinary action.

mmm ... must disagree with you there. If it is the truth why would it necessarily be rude. I am over-weigh - some people would call me fat. Calling some-one fat shouldn't be rude. If you post something that is illogical on a forum for all the world to revel in you debating skills don't you deserves to be call stupid when you don't make sense. I will agree that parts of the last sentence were excess, but somewhat amusing, and is rude but calling someone stupid isn't.
