We initially embarked on a project to fill our massive table with IG, Space wolves, and Tyranids. Unfortunately, people were buying our painted stuff faster than we could replenish our ranks (we, of course, do commissioned painting on the side). So for now, we will be concentrating on painting Space wolves. We wanted to concentrate on Space wolves, and more especially, the Thunder wolves cavalry, because we think the Space wolves have one of the best looking models around and has good conversion potential...

Best of all, we bought a great looking Wolf squad that had great detail and variety. A lot of the Wolves we looked at either were very expensive or had limited design variety. Here's a picture of our our Thunderwolves. We'll be working on this for the better part of the week and will post progress here every now and then.



We really like the detail.







We're going to start painting this week. Please post any color suggestion you may have for the wolves. I'm not sure yet if I'll go with the typical grey or give it a more brownish hue. We are also still thinking on what to arm them. I think a wicked frost axe would look good. Tell me what you guys think.

I love the darker 13th company scheme for wolves more of a shadow grey base rather than space wolf grey .

Also where did you find those awesome wolves I would love o pick some up for my son who is working on space wolves at the moment .

Those wolves are cool models, I'd like to know where you can get those, too!

Yeah, I think the 13th co scheme is the best too. Our Grey hunters have a shadow grey base themselves. I'll post more pictures tomorrow, maybe.

I gotta admit, those wolves look a lot better than most I've see used.

Thanks guys. yeah, we really loved the details on these wolves so we also got Decorative Base Covers for them from the same manufacturer. The theme we picked was "Junk yard" to suite a more 13th company feel. The bases costs a converted cost of $4 for 3 monster bases. So we've spent about $12.33 give or take. We have extra torsos and bits so no problems with that.

Here's a picture of some of the deco base covers we picked. There's a sample of one on top of a standard GW base.





Here's our first Thunder wolf rider. The picture shown below is before our final 2 highlights and top coat. As you can see its almost coming together. The rider is sleeveless for a more 13th co feel.

Of all the alternatives I've seen, I like these the best. They have some faults, but they provide a great option to a lot of people starving for an adequate representation. That cybernetic leg is a great touch, I'm so going to bite that for a mounted iron priest

Those wolves are terrific. The scale is great, nice detail and variety. Looking forward to seeing the rest painted.

I apologize that my next post here would come after more than a month. Some of you might know that our new friends at Mythicast come to us for their painting and conversion needs and they pay us generously with sets of their great models (as I have referenced in my storm raven thread here http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/293926.page). Last time though, when we promised them these thunderwolf models we didn't get to finish them as barely a week goes by they said they needed to show clients the wolves in whatever painted condition they are in. Unfortunately, we have only colored 3 and of these 3, all of them lack 2 more highlight coats and top coats. The 4th one we only got to convertion, painting never even started.

They called us a few nights back and said we can go on with the painting so I begin anew. Pics I will post below will become our starting point. Again, comments are more than welcome!

I rarely play with souped up versions of Wolf Lords on mount lest I be accused for cheese . But still like how the models turn out. Here's the dreaded thunder hammer!

My ultra's are usually 'ard as nails. But if they saw this theyd run back to ultrama or take a chance with the warp. Nice job.

We're having a bit of debate as to what the last Thunderwolf guy should have, they say lightning claw. I say Runic Lochaber Axe so it will be unique to this Wolf guy. The only problem with that is whenever we customize a weapon especially a runic one, it usually takes a helluva lot longer.

I will wait patiently for my models to arrive. I have had a few people help assure me that it will come.

It took several weeks for me to get mine, I think it is just slow being from the Philippines and going through customs and what not.

Yeah, right now I think the company is trying to renegotiate the distributorship and shipping contracts. The store, PINOY HOBBY HUB, is a distributor and I feel they could get a better deal with the shipping company too (or distributor if need be). The company itself will make a formal announcement in a few days. Hopefully shipping will get better once they shift. And admittedly, customs suck!!! The package goes through a whole lot of stuff so they will be going to a company that does a better job. Its really a shame since the company produces quality goods, and they get blasted by bad rep because of things like shipping.

Last time we talked, they were royally pissed!!! Last time they gave away decorative bases like those being used in the picture as complimentary samples to make up for the shipping company's mistake. All this is happening on the eve of launching new products (We do all their painting and we will be getting the first batch of new products tomorrow or Friday). They were about to launch Wolf Mounts for Iron priest w/ 4 cybernetic wolves on cav bases, and Spore pods! Dunno if the launch will still go through though. Needless to say though, I'll post those pictures here with or without the launch.
