Just got a rather horribly composed message from GW Amsterdam in which they are promoting something they call the "Whisper Campaign". For every €30,-- you spend you get a voucher with which you can ask a yes/no question regarding the upcoming Fantasy rules.

Are other stores around the globe also doing this, or is this just a plain bad example of Dutch ingenuity?

Or just wait 4 days and get the answers for free.

Or freeze yourself so you can wake up in the future when the book is already out.

Haven't heard anything about it here. Although I wouldn't be surprised if they made that gobal for next time

After some careful thought, have you checked this agianst other stores? It may just be some confounded store manager trying to boost sales at his location.

If true, it's certainly a bizarre way of marketing new product, that's for sure.

I'll not be going to my local GW for a couple of days but I'll check when I get there.

I KNOW the staff were lying to me when they said they had seen nothing of the rules 2 weeks ago. They were just too damned insistant and repeatedly (5 or 6 times) said they couldn't say anything about the rules....
Now if they had said 'Yes we've seen them but can't talk about it' I'd have not pushed for anything.

Books were despatched this week in most areas, AFAIK. Of course, Oz might have landed theirs early due to shipping times etc.

Must be a GW-Amsterdam thing. They must think you'll be going to the hash-bar before hitting the shop.

This has got to be the work of some store manager. Probably started as "I'll reward the guys who actually spend money" vs. "I'll charge you for a peak".

Why not start now? Think of all the lost revenue waiting for the book to arrive.

Yeah, that store is a pile of "great" ideas. With the last 40k tourney you could win a sneak peek look at the then upcoming BA codex. Which they were no doubt denying the existence of just a week before.

Though some times they do have cool ideas, like raffles. For every €10,-- that you spend you get a ticket and if you win you get a battalion of your choice. The downside is that the store is small, on raffle days very crowded and elbows to the face are common.

I think some of you are misreading that. It's not 30 euros for an answer, rather you get an answer for every 30 euros you spend in the store.

Let's have a promotion where one sale = one out-of-context answer that will probably end up dissuading more people from buying it once it's posted on the internet.
