Here's a link to this past weekend's Mega-Apocalypse Game I just ran out of GMI Games!


Every 3 months I'm running a storylined based Mega-Apoc game, that features personal characters developement, classic match ups and new foes! December was the first one, where the Khorne Legions lead by myself crushed the other Traitor Legions in a massive 150,000pt battle! March was then my B-Day Bash where the combined forces of Chaos fought against the Imperium in a 310,000pt scrap for the ages!!! Now the Tyranidz have joined the feastivities...

Oh ok yeah page 2 had much better pics, you win. I think that 365k points is a little much for me; I'd be gamed out by the time I unpacked my stuff. Crazy how you guys have just about everything painted from what I can see and I can't even manage to paint a tenth of my measly 4000 point eldar army.

Samus_aran115 : LOL! I have around 60,000pts of Khorne myself, though only 50,000pts is mostly painted (still need a lot of basing!). This is going on 16 years of Warhammer gaming for me, though in truth i've been into 40k around a year and a half. Fantasy is my main fortay (and i have ton of those models!!!). My Brother in our Khorne Legions is Dave Parker, and he's sporting 25,000+ pts!

ComputerGeek01: Yes it is!!! We deployed all day Friday, as everyone has different schedules, and I wanted Deployment to be relaxed situation. This is actually the 3rd Mega-Apocalypse game i've run, part of an ongoing storyline. We're based out of Riverside, Ca (GMI Games) if you're ever interested or in the area!


Lt.Coldfire: Glad you liked 'em! The game is quite fun and intense but in a non-competitive way! People are given Personal Objectives instead of the easy static objectives upon the table. Metagame wise, our group has grown way past the static objectives for the most part, so we'll only place one or two, or just one in the middle, and now we always assign Personal Objectives as they add more flavor to the game, as each general is vying for his own personal goals! One of my requirements for play is that the majority (90%) of your Army must be assembled and painted to participate...this has gotten our gaming community rather pumped about painting!



smacky: We had 20 players, 4 seperate tables/stories going! I live in Rancho Cucamonga, Ca, and we play out of GMI Games in Riverside, Ca. If you're interested and able to get out this way, we'd enjoy having ya! Let me know, every 3 months is a Mega-Apocalypse Game...next one is early Sept which is our Free-For-All, then Nov is the Imperium Civil War, and December is the SuperBowl of the year, where our Khorne Legions will face off against the rest of the Chaos Legions to see who'll reign suprpeme as Dark Overlords of 2011!!!!

Zid: Well, Table #4 I believe it was 18,500 pts of Ultra Marines and Blood Angels vs 13,000pts of Tyrandiz...the bugs got stomped, and the Imperials won that battle...(though we still don't have all tabulations done). Table #3 was the crazy "parking lot" of vehicles w/Emperor Titan...they had about 15,000pts more then the Chaos forces and the end result showed that...Table #2 the Chaos Legions crushed the Tyranidz, though they were about 8,000pts up...and Table #1 was mine, the Khorne Legions (with Dave) against the combined Imperial Armies...we had 75,000pts, they had around 70,000pts...in the end we called it a Draw because that's what it looked like (at least Objective wise, we had wiped out most of their armies), but after counting up the objectives gained via slain Primarch rules and the Holy Relic Weapon asset, we ended up winning that one! So Chaos won 2 tables, Imperium won 2, and the Tyrandiz lost 2...

Sorry, but just look at the size of that titan!

I think you need bigger tables so you can actually use tactics, rather than just turn your side into a parking lot and duke it out

But pretty impressive anyway

lol. I like how the existence of the board and the terrain are more technicalities. Really, it's just a carpet of models.

Bwahahaha. I love that the blood angels and ultramarines won against bugz. Even though the bugz had a heriophant and several other enourmous things (the heriodule? I forgot.).

And good for you! Your table looked amazing, I've got the page bookmarked it for all eternity.

Randomonioum: Yeah, not my fave model to see...I think Josh needs to work on it more, but his side "needed it"...lol! I faced off against it in March Mega-Apoc game, and his 50+ Thunder Cav with 10+ Thunder Cav lords, and Mario's Warhound Titan and Keith's War Hound Titan...slayed 'em all! But I lost huge chunks of my Army in the process...well worth it i'd say!


SilverMK2: Only one table turned into a "parking lot", and again, in hindsight we should've re-arranged the table configuration, as it gave the Imperium a HUGE advantage...but they all had fun so no biggie!


Ailaros: LMAO! Yeah, terrain played some key rolls here and there, mostly for cover saves and the such, but with so much going on and moving around, it was more "in the way" in some cases! We deployed all day Friday, as each player came in on their own time because of varying schedules, to place their models. Sat morning we started late because of ONE guy, so 12 noonish. Table #4 finished Sat night, like 8pm or 9pmish. Table 1 thru 3 played both Sat and Sun.

dumbuket: LOL! Like I said, only one table resembled that at the begining...but after many Apoc Barrages and firepower, there was a lot of Assaulting going on from both sides as the Thunder Cav attempted to sweep the Chaos Left Flank...


M4k0: The game was VERY exciting and fun and intense! We all had a blast, and it'll be the stuff of legends as we continue on in our storyline and gaming quest!

Was it fun? I mean the parking lot table looks so crammed with models that I would be surprised if anyone ever moved a model (apart from removing casualties).

The idea is insanely cool but I think I would be a bit miffed about not getting a chance to actually try some tactics.

This is the first time that a table-top game looked to me like I imagine things from the books. Incredible. If I ever won the lottery I would do this for sure. Have a gymnasium-sized room of models. sigh...

Also, keep posting these megabattles please. Stuff like this is like the nicotine patch to the warhammer-deprived stretch that is my university life.

So, how does one get involved in these mega battles? I live in the LA area, so i'd love to come and play, but not sure I have enough points.

I am sorry to say that does not even look like fun to me. It is just too crowded for any tactics at all. I'd want ten times as much table space for that many points.

you suck! I live in irvine and am LEAVING FOR ARIZONA right as you're gonna do that 400k game and I could provide some apparantly much needed tau...about 3k pts...with a gakload of railguns...
seriously tho that's amazing...I would think at that level you need modular tables where you "count" them as being all together and just move pieces from one table to the other when they reach the table edge....or else connect a buncha tables with bridges as big as the golden gate (which I've seen turn into a pretty sick game...tho the bridges were destructable)

It looks cool but the game doesn't really look playable on those tables. What works for you works for you though.
