I'm trying to figure out what tank, to defeat other tanks, is the best for the IG and SM. What do you think is the best?

For IG, I hate when my friend brings his Leman Russ with the 3-shot plasma cannon mount and the two sponson plasma cannons.
For my Black Templars, I love running with my Land Raider Crusader with Blessed Helm. What's that Eldar? You brought 4 lances? Suck it!

The Leman Russ is scary and effective, and for the SM maybe the land raider or predator

Even better with multimelta sponsons.......................... Pretty much the best available option in anti-tank. And at the same cost as a Land Raider.

Baneblade, shadowsword or get a land raider for troop movement and hurting, i got one and love it.

"Straight Fething Silver" Tanith first and only
I have a reputation, Modile, a reputation as a fair, honest man who treats his soldiers well and supports them in the face of darkness. Potentially, that reputation makes me soft. It seems I understand failure and forgive it. Some, like Kowle, believe me to be a weak commissar, not prepared to take the action my rank demands. Not prepared to enforce field discipline where I see it failing. I am an Imperial commissar. I will enflame the weak, support the wavering, guide the lost. I will be all things to all men who need me. But I will also punish without hesitation the weak, the incompetent, and the treasonous.
I am a Commissar. I am empowered to deliver justice wherever I see it lacking. I am empowered to punish cowardice. I am granted the gift of total authority to judge, in the name of the Emperor, on the field of combat.

For IG, I would definitely hurl my curses and invectives upon the Russ that gets to fire around 126 plasma cannon shots per turn. SM's best option is the Crusader. It gets quite a few shots compared to the others, plus the transport is better than the regular raider.

oh god godhammers? really....? really???
for space marines it's probably the vindicator. redeemers and crusaders can wreck face if they're loaded with terminators, but they're kind of gimmicky.
for guard it's probably the good old, standard, heavy bolter, no frills leman russ battle tank. at 150 points its a crazy good buy.

It was nearly me vs. the room on those points...

I was in the vastly outnumbered minority on all those points....
It's the best for the purpose in which I use it. I run a pretty shooty SM list, and two TLLCs add to the weight of fire quite nicely. If I need to be more aggressive the Multimelta comes into play. It also gives my a nice 20 inches or so on my counterassaulting TH/ SS Terminators' range, which is nice.
I love the Godhammer. If I take two LRs my other one is a Crusader, but if I can only take one it's a Godhammer every time.

Meh.
When your Redeemer can shoot down a Valkyrie from 40 inches away I'll reconsider. It's the thinking man's Land Raider, The Godhammer.

in fairness the godhammer is pretty worthless against infantry, which the redeemer devestates. the redeemer can't do what it can't do but it does what it can do pretty well.

Predators with lascannons are pretty cheap for their ability to tank hunt. Decent front armor too.

What kind of infantry?
It bitchslaps Nobz and plague Marines, which don't sweat a Redeemer at all.

Yeah, but if you can MM them, then they can MM you... I prefer it as a sole 48" long range hunter. Also, the MM sponsons aren't worth the points in the majority of situations

Godhammer is a brand of Lascannon, specifically those mounted on the Phobos Pattern Land Raider. Also, two Lascannons, and a Multi-Melta, and the ability to engage two different targets is great. You can start hammering enemy mech. from turn 1.

You can take out maybe a squad in one shot and any tank with a single shot if you have a shadowsword or baneblade super tank.

Has to be a Demolisher with a dozer blade and a lascannon. Not stupidly expensive and can drive through buildings to hit side armour or deny cover saves. Looks cool too.
Come to think of it, two or three of them. Guard need at least two of anything or they will just die.

I think he's grossly exaggerating while referring to the one that gets five plasma cannon shots.
Not exactly 126. But hey.

The regular land raider is light on lascannons, if you're serious about anti-tank then stop messing around and bring a Terminus Ultra variant with 8 lascannons for more fun.
