First time poster, long time view....I have been working on this puppy for a while, I figure I have enough progress done to finally put some pics up. I still have a long way to go detail wise, I will probably head over to the local train shop today and get some more plasticard and glue. I also need ot figure out where the mulit-melta is going to go, probably on the roof of the upper portion. The overall dimensions are about the same length wise, and it still has a assault ramp that is 40mm wide. The only real difference is height it is a little higher. I think I will be ok in tournaments, but I will probably magnetize the sponsons just in case. anyway enjoy the pics and let me know what you think.

Look like a very interesting piece, but I would like to see the ramp up to get the whole picture. Otherwise very nice.

Damn, that is very cool, some i've seen are a bt over the top or tall but I like this, can't wait to see more progress on it, makes me want to try something myself!

Are you planning custom data sheet/rules for this for Apoc., or is it simply artistic license?

Great looking conversion so far. I would do away with the chains to lower the assault ramp though. Anytime I do a technical conversion I try and think how it would function in reality. Chains would get in the way so a geared lowering mechanism would work better. Just imagine the ramp crashing down and the Marines charging out only to get tangled in the door chains.

Yeah it would be like if guys wore giant banners on their backs and then tried to get in and out of transports. Oh wait nevermind...

A few points to address;

The Chians- While I agree tha from a functional view the chains aren't the best idea....they do add nicely to the overall look and feel, so they will be staying.

For what faction- I forgot to mention, I play Black Templars, this will be my command LRC, or the LRC that will be used to deliver my termies and EC.

In regards to the Orc boys- Then as the orcss charge forward they were met mid-hall by the grooms best men, 6 assault termies w/ re rolls to hit and wound, sadly the Orc were slain, but it did provide good sport for th congregation. Very funny post made me LOL

Other models- well I don't have much yet, I only recently started to play 40k, but I will post more as I get it done.

Project direction- his model will function as a normal LRC, that is why I kept the the dimension pretty close to normal. the only real difference is the MM's I will be using 2 one in each sponson, with the stipulation that only 1 can fire at a time. The LHS tourny is ok w/ that mod.

The sponsons wil have a pre-heresy twist to them, but smaller, and I will be putting some scibor knight panels on the side as well.

Lastly I will be giving the "cathedral" bits a textured stone look and I will trim details out in gold.

other than that it has been fun, and I will keep the thread updated.

definitely a cool and original idea. i agree that you should keep the chains as they go with the motif. the only thing i'd suggest is to somehow spruce up the front a bit more. while the back portion does look like a catherdral, the front evokes more of a mausoleum feel to me. either way, i'd have no problem at all playing against it; keep up the good work!
