Subject: Mantic Games (28mm, duh) Plastic Zombies + Skeleton Archers and Liche
Although pretty much common news, I dont think we have a proper topic for the upcoming zombies for Kings of War
Zombies are rotting corpses brought back from the dead by foul necromancy. These shambling monstrosities are slow and lack any individual thought or autonomy, but their necromantic overlords drive them into battle in their thousands, hoping to exhaust the armies of the enemy.
If you are an evil necromancer, or Vampire Lord, you just can't get enough of Zombies – until now that is! Available in the Kings of War range from Mantic Games - makers of the world renowned Ghoul figures. This great value set contains enough Zombies for a small shambling-sized mob or fantasy regiment.
Shipping out on Sep 24th, theres a regiment of 30 for $35, and a horde of 60 for $60.
Edit
Also Archers and a Liche Model have been announced. Chibi Bodge-Battle gave the link

I'm loving those Undead, I can't wait until October to get the new Starter box!

I dig how in a setting where giant, muscled fungus men ride Mad Max cars and use their own teeth as currency, the concept of little engineering dudes with beards was considered a step too far down the aisle of silliness.
My goodness, those are the most aggressive zombies I've ever seen! I was going to buy them just for their Nerve stat, but now I'll buy them to horrify my opponent.

Any chance of re-hosted photos for those of us with work-blocks to gaming and photobucket?
I have seen the sprue pics and the 3-ups.
I like them much better than the goofy cartoon look of GWs.
Granted, the GW zombies were the best to come out until now.
I hope to get a couple hordes.

How does that one in the ground get around? Looks like he's asking for help up...
Because it's a corpse being raised from the dead...most dead are buried. You need to watch more horror movies my friend

Oh, I know all that. I was just imagining the unit moving across the board, but that guy being in the ground the whole time... strange. Or maybe it's just a new corpse reanimating wherever the units goes. I do believe they have a rule where they get their troops back.

Yup, there is a heal spell that raises undead while the battle is happening

Also, Evil Dead recovers one wound each time they cause at least one.

They look much better than the WGF zombies. Those WGF zombies were terrible quality. These are way better. and these are generic looking. They can not only be city zombies (like WGF). But be used for Fantasy, 40k and all that good stuff. Wonder how Cadian Bits will fit???

Even though i only play 40k, i think i may buy these. 60 zombies for $60, i can do that.
I think with a custom stat line, maybe a horde of zombies vs some marines in a kill team game would be interesting, slowed, but over all pretty fun/funny. Plus who doesnt have fun painting and owning zombies?

I'll believe they're 28mm when I see them next to some GW undead. I've put together and painted a couple of the Mantic elves, and they're 25mm, and on the small side of that scale.

Can't really compare the two. GW is Heroic 28MM, Mantics figs are truescale 28mm, so thinner and more realistically proportioned.
I collect:
Grand alliance death (whole alliance)
Stormcast eternals
Slaves to Darkness - currently Nurgle but may expand to undivided.

Yup. Something not in scale with warhammer=/=not 28mm. Its more akin to LotR which are 28mm Truescale iirc

They're better than the GW ones, altho the GW ones appear to be a bit more posable/custom, and have a sorta silly campiness.
I remain unconvinced about Mantic. Some of what they make is great, some is meh, but they've got a HUGE amount of product to get out there to compete with GW. GW has hundreds of different models/kits. Mantic has about a dozen.
Still, they've shown an ability to make plastic minis of as good of quality as anything else in the industry. That's not common.

Fixed that for you. and your right about LOTR being truescale like mantic's stuff.

Well as stated in the vid I think, mantic zombies are 100% compatible with their ghouls. That adds in 3 heads, 2 torsos (sadly with arms already attached), and 2 pairs of legs. Not too much but good to know theres some more options out there
