I have a fever today, stayed home from work. All of my muscles are aching, and despite it being exceptionally cool September day in the cold and drizzly pacific northwest, I am sweating buckets. I just went to clean my workroom, and five minutes of gathering empty soda bottles and fast food wrappers left me soaking wet and trembling with pain.

Anyone else sick? What've you got? What's the sickest you've been?

behind you!

I think the sickest I've ever been was that 1 time I suggested that ideally it would be legal for mothers to kill their children if they were less than 18 months old. I was trippin balls and thinking scary gak. thank god it passed quick.

Lame attempt at derailment is lame.

No one ever suggested it should be legal for mothers to kill their children if they were less than 18 months old.

So moving on.

WOAH! I've got the exact same symptoms! That's fething MENTAL. Uh-oh, looks like you can catch man-flu over the internets...

Yeah, I'm all fethed up at the moment - I blamed it on walking the dog up on the moors in the freezing cold this weekend and catching a chill. Now I'm thinking it may be....

On a boat, Trying not to die.

Caught Pneumonia at 6, was in bed for 2 weeks, and had nothing to do. My 1st grade class made me get well cards. The next week, I goose necked my arm. For those who don't know what that is, it's this:

Hey, it's not ALL bad news - at least I get to use an inhaler for probably the rest of my life! YAY!

Seriously though, it blows. It wasn't the fever that was so hot that I passed out and steam was literally coming off me, it wasn't not being able to breath or being in constant chest pain - it was not being able to sleep because I had a drip in each arm and an oxygen mask on my face. I was hallucinating by the second night until they gave me like, a mogodon or something. Then I was in happy fething dreamland.

If you think your important, in the great scheme of things. Do the water test.

Put your hands in a bucket of warm water,
then pull them out fast. The size of the hole shows how important you are.
I think we should roll some dice, to see if we should roll some dice, To decide if all this dice rolling is good for the game.

Migraines :( Triggered by like 10 different things, and I can't prevent them. Can only treat them with drugs that make me quite loopy, so I end up just sleeping through the aftereffects as best I can. Not a good illness for someone who works in a brightly lit office in front of glowing monitors for 11 hours a day.

Heard in the news this morning that SCIENCE has possibly isolated the gene that causes migraines, so you might be in luck in a coupla years!

Im pretty healthy atm, though my GF is sick, which means she gets cranky because for the umpteenth time I seem to be immune to whatever flavour of plague she is carrying

Sickest I've ever been was when I was a newborn, I got two types of chest infection or something, and apparently turned gray.
From what I've been told they had to inject me with stuff on a frequent basis to keep me breathing...sorta glad I don't remember any of that, though I got night terrors when I was a kid, and both my parents and myself think it may have been subconscious trauma from that or something.

Sickest I can remember being was when I was a kid with a bad fever, and I was in bed; Dad was talking to me from the door, and I was terrified because he was a giant ant, but I couldn't escape as the floor was water and there were sharks in it...everyone loves fever hallucinations!

I have a friend who suffers from chronic migraines, to the point where he collects disability. He can't hold down a job when he gets week-long migraines every other month. Over the years he's tried everything, from diet changes to habit changes to every treatment under the sun. The only thing that worked for him was a a fairly recent new drug, but he had to stop taking it. I've known this guy for a decade, he's one of the brightest guys I've ever met, a phenomenal programmer and all-around genius, and people who met him during the year he was taking this stuff seriously thought he was mentally challenged. He couldn't follow a conversation, couldn't understand the simplest instructions, and when he tried to talk he would just say weird, random things, use the wrong words, etc. So the drug prevented migraines, but in all other ways essentially made him slowed.

I get migraines myself occasionally, but only during allergy season, as a result of sinus pressure. Having had maybe seven or eight migraines in the last fifteen years, never more than one a year, I wouldn't wish them on anyone. It's rough. You have my sympathies.

@ Gailbraithe

Christ that is harsh. The medication I am on is called Imagran ( prescription version ) and I end up getting really confused like that too. It causes situations like being parched but not being able to drink because I can't work out a way to get around the water being in the jug and not in my cup, or thinking I am underwater due to the pressure it build up. Not terrible, but I can't work when they hit me, which causes major problems.

The doctors are great about it, but my job seems to equate someone saying they have been a migraine sufferer since birth to someone just saying they get headaches, which means I can get into trouble for absence even with a permanate note from the company doctor :(

Only recently I requested a 2 hour shift change so I could get an extra 2 hours sleep and not trigger as much but they said "Migraines are a personal issue you need to try and resolve yourself", so they really don't seem to grasp what triggers actually are and how they hit you. I have had 4 this month so far, so thats 4 missed days and over €500 in pay deduction. It is getting pretty woeful.

When I was 12ish maybe? I was sick enough that I blacked out regularly and usually awoke to the taste of bile on my tongue and the sight of it on the floor in front of me.

The sickest I've ever been was after a 40 of vodka one Halloween when I was 15. That night didn't end well.

As to actual colds, I hardly ever show any symptoms if I get them.

I don't really get sick. Last time I was properly laid up was....13 years ago, when I caught Glandular Fever, which when prescribed Penicllin (mutter grumble bloody quack grumble grumble) turned into an allergic reaction. I could barely crawl to the bog and back.

Since then, nowt. Perhaps I actually died, and just haven't noticed. Would certainly explain the smell.

I'm off today. Have stomach cramps and sickness.

Using my time off to paint up some Eldar. Though I am mildly annoyed that the "1/4" female to 1/8" male" air hose adapter that came with my airbrush is actually a 5/8" to 1/8" adapter...

Thus no airbrushing for me today! :(

Edit: Sickest I have ever been is probably when I had really bad flu while I was at University. Didn't have anything to eat for 3 days as I was too weak to get out of bed, only had a few sips of drink. Was fevered and apparently gibbering madly (my now wife was looking after me for part of my illness and reliably informs me that I was insane ). Then on the 3rd day, I dragged myself out of bed and went to see Iron Maiden.

Then I went home and collapsed back into bed for another couple of days...

One time I had a super bad case of AIDs. Drank a lot of water and it cleared right up in a week or so.

I've got an extremely painful sore throat right now, including a lovely ulcerated patch just right of my tonsil. Gonna try and book a doctor's appointment tomorrow. It's really unpleasant.

Worst I ever had was probably when I got infected with a mild strain of leptospirosis when I worked in a lab. I was delriously feverish, had severe cramps and pains, and could barely walk.
