Cozy cockpit of an Archer ARC-5S

Not a whole lot, but some new stuff, fresh from WD372.

For 40k two items: one a diorama of two snotlings examining a discarded shoota, the other a pack of thieving snotlings and a dead ork, with the snots doing all sorts of wacky things like taking a gak in a helmet and pulling teef from a skull.

Fantasy: two knights of the Blazing Sun conversion packs, all sculpted up by a new guy. There's a command pack with banner, horn, blinged out sword, heads and shields and there's a regular pack with five heads and five shields. As always, Knights of the Empire not included.

Other than that, a re-release of some big kits: Fortified manor for fantasy, for 40k the Fortress of Redemption, Imperial Strongpoint and Imperial Sector.

That's all folks!

Seems they're getting in the spirit early, what with their no news Blood Angel 'announcement'.

Got my WD yesterday - I quite like the knight models, there are enough bits to make them distinctively "blazing sun".

So now 4 different orders are easily achievable in a single army.

The grots ARE fun little items from a collecting standpoint for ork players; pointless, but fun.

Rather ho hum month it seems however...

I like how they can't seem to decide whether the 40k packs have grots, or snotlings in them.

So for the MGP (main gifting period) there isn't a product friendly to every-ones army or a self-contained/stand alone?

I'm not counting scenery, little 12 year old Tommy,
"Thanks, you bought me a... hill..."

It's just a bit poor, not like it moves dates and doesn't happen every year.

The only decent things in this issue of WD are the DE section with a few different paint schemes and the Necron vs IG Battle Report.

The rest of it is advertising Witchfate Tor, Dreadstone Blight and about 8 pagesof how to paint a nice gaming board. Whice is convenient seen as though, in the UK at least, GW's 'for £35 we will let you build 1 square of scenery to take home' day is coming up!

I have to agree it seems like a big release right before Christmas would make them some money. The KotBS packs are cool, seemingly random but cool. Hopefully we'll see some more Dark Eldar and Blood Angels if not Grey Knights, before too long.

The Knights of the Blazing sun upgrade looks pretty good, although, like all metal kits lately it is overpriced. Do I need a 6th regiment of knights? hmmm

As a side note, how nice it must be to have a monthly product catalog, which, you know, actually has prices in it. [unlike a certain North American copy]

So buying both those grot packs, I love grots and they'll be great for adding flavor to scenery/big vehicles.

No such bundle deals because they didn't sell that well last year. GW is still trying to sell off quite a few remaining such sets from last year, so this year they decided not to create any new army bundles. They didn't want to be sitting on piles of them in their warehouse for a year or more again.

I'd rather see them release more of these odds n' sods little metal models, they could get all their sculptors to knock out one or two pieces during the year, whatever they feel like doing and then release them all in December for some kind of stocking filler style promotion.

Btw, are these GW website sale only or will we be able to get them from any place that sells GW stuff?

For the same reason they never have sales - they have no competition (realistically - no other game companies have their own retail stores, so in the retail space they're pretty much Number 1), so they have nothing seasonal to work towards. Christmas might be a bigger deal if they had to compete with other chains of game stores, but they don't, so it's just another month for them.

There is no season of goodwill in the Grimdark!

Is it because GW will get lots of parents buying AoBR and IoB sets as pressies for the kiddie winks?

Mantic have some sort of Christmas deal iirc.

What's the point in GW making things cheap for Xmas, when they know that loads of people are going to be buying stuff anyway?

That would be like Take That going on tour, and selling the tickets at half price because they were worried they wouldn't sell!

Bit disappointed there's no voucher system like last year. Might not have sounded great 'Spend £100, get £10 Voucher' but it's a damned sight more generous than many stores offer, where the voucher(s) are for specific things.
