I am so sick of skaven articles on the G.W website "what's new today" thing. Would it kill them to think of something that Isn't rat-related? Anyway, rant over, but it's got me wondering: what annoys you guys most about G.W?

That they release cool rules for models, but not the models themselves. And then, when they actually make the model, it doesn't live up to everyone's expectations.

I don't see this ending well...

Basically, for me, was the "loss" of three armies in the span of a year or so: Lost and the Damned, Craftworld Illyanden, and Thousand Sons (Who are 'still playable', but had their core rules changed...again)

Most of the stuff I bought into they have dropped and in some extreme cases pretend never existed. Also is the fact that they are now generally so expensive that I only buy the odd thing to paint, I don't collect any armies. And finally, that they trashed all real hobby support, they axed Black Gobbo and gutted White Dwarf.

I suppose what annoys me is that I am not the sort of customer they want any more, and it's largely their priorities have changed not me.

The way many people confuse their Hobby for the Hobby, and then go on a rampage against GW staff from a position of mostly ignorance with a hint of personal opinion, only occasionally garnished with actual experience.

Trust me, it's not easy holding your tongue on the internet when someone is talking out their arse. Not when it can cost you your job.

Not aimed at anyone in this thread BTW before people worry.

Somewhere.

It's frustrating because sometimes you get the distinct feeling GW just doesn't give a crap. I know that a lot of people in the company do truly care about the hobby, but more and more redshirts seem to be salesmen trained in Warhammer rather than a fan selling the stuff.

Combine with the distinct lack of support for anything but the models, the seemingly lack of desire for feedback from there own customers and the occasionally random release schedule and it feels like all they want is my cash. I don't mind them wanting my cash, but for very little effort they could make me happy too.

Of course, sometimes they do things right...Dark Eldar finally being updated, Grey Knights return and Dark Angels being made playable again have all cheered me up.

The "Hobby" (capital "h") would encompass more than any one miniature-making company, as well.

It does indeed encompass more than just GW. Everyone's take on the hobby is unique in it's own way, yet all too often on the Internet, you read (more often than not utterly uninformed) opinion presented as absolute fact, and worse, people then spreading said non-facts as absolutes.

It's seriously bloody annoying. Hell, in olden days back when Portent wasn't Warseer yet, I was in a discussion regarding GW Training, and was told to my digital face, I was lying. Never mind I'd been to a session that very day, some mouth breather hell bent on knocking GW at every turn somehow knew better....

I have nothing against the staff, i was in there the other day and the 'Red shirt's' enthusiasm and friendliness was infectious. Plus they are always happy to work as de facto babysitters for young ones while their parents are running errands. Can you think of any other store that is happy to act as free day care? The prices of course are fairly high but put it in perspective; how many times have we all blown at least a battleforce worth of monies in a crap night-club that accepts credit cards?

What I'm annoyed by is if GW didn't have skaven articles on the website, someone would create a thread about being annoyed that they didn't put up any Skaven articles to support their new releases. Its a vicious cycle of nerdrage that GW doesn't have a cure for.

Nothing really. All the negativity towards GW I see is based online and from the other members of the community. In my experience I have nothing to complain about GW other than the high prices, but there are ways around that via feebay or trading. Its a hobby, its fun to do and it costs a pretty penny like every other hobby. Yesterday I talked to GW Customer Support and was more than pleased at how it went.

I don't have to look into their business practice, I don't need to listen to the logic, I'm happy as is, painting my little toy soldiers is enjoyable and constructive as well as letting me block out the drama that constantly surrounds me in one form or another with the added bonus that I get something decent to look at and play with on occasion.

Even if they are robbing me for what I'm getting, they're petty thieves in comparison with my university, but lets not get me started on that. -goes back to painting-

GW's shift towards more business-driven than hobby driven. Taking a look back at some old codexes from years gone by, you realise that GW really cut out alot of hobby material from their books, and the hobby sections are little more than glorified catalogues now. Same goes with the "What's New" blog and the Articles section. I use to hang on to every word of Black Gobbo, as they would always have interesting scenarios, conversion articles and spotlight features.

Another thing (tie into the above) is the Codexes. The Pamplet codexes and Campaign Dexes were a fun way to add on to your experience, and it somewhat held the number of marine players in check. With the Stand Alone SM codexes they've basically forgotten the non-sms.

Also, I WANT MY MEGAFORCE AND ARMY DEALS!

Most of what annoys me about GW is not actually about GW- it's about the so-called 'fans' who buy all the products, play the games, and yet seem utterly convinced that the company is the source of all evil.

I'm sorry, I just don't get it. It GW is that bad, express displeasure with your wallets and stop giving them money. Don't buy all their stuff then whinge about it, because it doesn't change anything.

Personally, the closest thing I have to a complaint about the company itself was Gav Thorpe tripping over me at Games Day a while back, then looking round and yelling 'what the hell was that??' because I am so short he actually couldn't see me.... :( Other than that, I honestly have no issue with them at all.

Cost, plain and simple. a single 30 man State troop unit with 2 detachments costs approx £70 depending on what you use for detachments. Whereas for the same price I can buy a decent 25 point Warmachine force and the Rulebook which is enough to play games with (hell you can play warmachine with nothing but the starter boxes for £35).

I still buy their stuff as there's little competition in the large scale fantasy / sci fi tabletop game that people in my area but the comparisons are scary and I see why warmachine is taking off again.

I spoke to GW Customer Service two days ago and he stated that they do not plan on taking it from the site because they are putting all of their attention on getting their main systems caught up to their current editions and thus haven't been able to put forth anything for BFG.

I am not annoyed at games workshop the slightest. Without them there wouldn't be warhammer. Sure the prices have increased but that is just how everything is heading these days. As for games workshop's apparent lack of enthusiasm toward the game, just look at the effort of sculpts and the wickedness that is the latest Dark Eldar book. That was truly a labour of love for both jes and phil and that is plain to see in every interview and the products themselves. If there needs to be support for the smaller, less popular games, perhaps you need to stand up yourselves and write your own rulesets. To be honest games workshop games haven't lost their fun or playability and while some codexes may become "Overpowered", a player that is just after the enjoyment of the role-playing style game and doesn't aim to win at all costs should be able to write a fair list from the book. Perhaps it is not games workshop that has made the changes but more the audience has changed, moving their ideals and thoughts to follow.

"Don't worry bro, I got this."

The way the rules have become completely power gamer obsessed for both Fantasy and 40k.
The fact that games nights are now dominated by people who want to win rather than fun.
And the games that are balanced (well sort of) have no or very little support, and with LoTR dying welll Gaming isn't as fun as it was 5 years ago

The main complaint is that the prices are high, but I honestly try to not aim that directly at GW. Lower prices are always something that seem to be a complaint.

And that they focus way too much on SMs. I understand that that's the vast majority of their income, but it's almost ridiculous sometimes, in my opinion. Maybe if they pushed for having something other than a Space MArine codex every year. I mean, hell, I', about to speak the unspeakable: Two xenos codices in a row.

Othe than that, I don't have much of a problem with them. And I thank them for creating this great game.

We went to a GW store a while back to get Harry the Hammer. i wanted one just to have, it was a small group of 4-5 gamers. at the time i was mainly playing Epic and Bloodbowl. I was not looking for anything GW related minus the Harry model.

Upon entering the store a GW employee walks over to me and started to initiate small talk. Quickly he cuts to the point. "What armies you play?" i say i am currently working on an Orc Bloodbowl team. the employee looks stymied for a second, then states "Cool, cool, we dont really carry any Bloodbowl here". He then asks if I am working on anything else, i then state that im working on a few leman russes..... He instantly jumps on that and shoves some guard models in my face, telling me about how good they are in the game and how i need them to make an optimal list. i then finish my statement, by telling him i meant leman russes......for Epic. I was painting Admech PDF forces for my Admech army in Epic.

Seems the employee had nothing else to say, and quickly moved to my friends, who seemed to equally distress him with stories of specialist games and using GW rules with non GW models. When i left the store i really didnt feel any different, i know GW doesnt support their SG's anymore.
