Subject: Anonymous finally does something useful that we can all agree on
I am both selfish and chaotic. I value self-gratification and control; I want to have things my way, preferably now. At best, I'm entertaining and surprising; at worst, I'm hedonistic and violent.

"Freedom of speech, that's some mother******* bs."
As an American said on Radio 4's Question Time at the weekend, human rights are never so important as when we are looking at people we hate and despise.
Vile, hateful bigots though Westboro clearly are, they have the right to express their views and Anonymous do not have the right to shut down their scummy websites.
Although it is much easier to destroy than to build, I would ask Anonymous to do something constructive about the Westboro situation. For example, issue a call to arms to get supporters of the armed forces, gays and so on to turn up to funerals and block out the Westboro hags.

These bikers have the right idea.
I'm all for freedom of speech.
However, freedom of speech apparently doesn't apply if I have a cussword on my t-shirt, according to some coppers. It shouldn't apply for people actively trying to disrupt a military funeral with hateful signs and speeches.

Dunno, I thought their peaceful protests against Scientology was a great way to do this.
The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

Then you're not all for freedom of speech, only for freedom of speech with which you happen to agree.
That is the diametric opposite of the core principle.
Kilkrazy: Freedom of speech also means that I'm allowed to disagree with them and call them gakfethers.

No, I'm saying:

The Westboro Baptist Church believes that Barack Obama is the Antichrist, and that he forms an Unholy Trinity with Satan and Pope Benedict XVI, who they believe is the False Prophet.
And they even sourced it. I mean wow.

Looks like Anonymous is looking for a popular war to wage to justify its vigilante activities.
I feel Jonah Jameson when I write that, yet I believe it.

Actually apparently they said "it's a trap!" when they read it.

To question the thread title dont we also 'all agree' that Scientology as currently managed is abhorent.
Anonymous is not there to destroy scientology after all, just to shut down its more questionable practices.
n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

Of course it does.
It doesn't allow you to stop them from speaking.

Perhaps you are not aware that you live in a different country, with different laws.

But I can protest their speaking.

Considering it wasn't even Anonymous that actually made the threat, not really.
